And we were a small ministry,

had very few Bible workers,

and there was a big
need in the western part

of the state of Gujarat.

And so the President

of the division at that time,

Pastor Ron Watts,
volunteered Jesus for Asia

to sponsor 10 Bible
workers in Western Gujarat.

And what they do is
they'll have like a unit,

like it would be a
region or a section

or a conference
over an entire area.

And the work
will grow in one part,

like in this case,
it grew very rapidly

in the eastern part of Gujarat,

but nothing was being
done in the western part.

And so they did
what they call bifurcate.

They split that
territory in half.

And in the western
part, they sent a pastor,

the president and the secretary.

train, overnight train.

long they had a sleeper car.

some difficult times,

but now we've got new leadership

there recently to see

leadership had engaged

with some local students

forming a student church.

But these students
are actually from Africa.

to see them.

But this is a university town,

- Where Mahatma Gandhi grew up

and went to school.

from Africa that want
to get a good education

will come to Rajkot

and enroll in the school there.

And of course they're
lonely, they miss home,

they can get into trouble.

And so the leaders there,

the church have
reached out to them

and they're forming a church

and when I came, I found out

five students here

that were Adventists.

At that time, we
worshiped together

for an hour each Sabbath.

But as time went on,
we ended up worshiping

almost the whole day,
each Sabbath on campus.

It was a little
bit tough though,

because this is not
a Christian country.

So we had a hard time
finding a place to worship.

We tried going to
the local Gujarati church

once a month, but
there was a language barrier

because we didn't
understand Gujarati or Hindi.

Then we got a new
director of our region

of Seventh Day
Adventists, Pastor Rakesh,

and he really wanted
to find us a good place

to worship where we
could worship God freely.

After a while, we found a place,

and he also got us a pastor.

- It's been just
six to seven months

that I have been
stationed here in Rajkot

and right now I'm taking care

of the African
English Church company.

and the room became too small.

Some people didn't
have anywhere to sit.

So we left that place and moved

into this place where
we are worshiping now.

It is a little bit bigger,

but even now there
are people sitting outside

because the number of
people coming is growing

and the room isn't very big.

So that's our
challenge right now.

Because we were the
first group of Christians

to start meeting on campus,

there were Christians from other

denominations that joined us.

Then as we studied together,

some chose to join our
church and be baptized.

We started with just
five to seven people,

but now we have
more than 40 people

meeting together each week.

- So we are looking
forward for a church.

praying that we get a church

But my situation
just got worse and worse.

If my family sent me any money,

I didn't use it
to buy good things.

I used it to smoke tobacco

and weed and drink alcohol.

One day there was a
very big black thing

that came and
covered me in my bed.

When I said the name
of Jesus, it disappeared.

But my whole body
was shaking after that.

Then one night
when I was very drunk,

I was planning
to commit suicide.

because I felt like

to change and be a good person.

would become very
successful in life.

So the people
had a lot of respect

for this family.

- We actually had a son,

and he used to tell us

that we
shouldn't be doing things

with evil spirits, but
we didn't listen to him.

- Then when he was
15, he suddenly died.

He didn't know about Jesus,

but he knew that what
they were doing was wrong.

And so the same evil spirit

that she was casting on people

and removing from people,

took the life of their son.

They ended up
having four daughters

and were expecting another son.

But when she
delivered the baby boy, he died.

That's when their
lives completely changed.

They were so troubled.

All of their peace
and prosperity disappeared

after the death
of that baby boy.

It didn't
matter where they went,

they couldn't find peace.

- It was because of my work

with the evil
spirits that I lost my son.

The same evil
spirit that I was casting

out of others took
the life of my child.

They were so
desperate though, to have a son.

Then about a year ago,

I decided to have a
prayer meeting in this home,

and while I prayed and
laid my hands on her head,

I saw that God was
giving her a baby boy.
