Where should his servant be? 00:04:00.87\00:04:04.37 Jesus is where there is need, 00:04:04.37\00:04:06.98 where there is need for his followers to serve someone. 00:04:06.98\00:04:10.48 - Wow, that's a powerful thought. 00:04:11.88\00:04:13.65 And it goes way beyond, like you said, 00:04:13.65\00:04:15.82 the spiritual application of choosing Jesus 00:04:15.82\00:04:19.25 every moment in our lives. 00:04:19.25\00:04:21.06 Does...? 00:04:21.06\00:04:22.49 In your estimation, does that involve a lot of surrender? 00:04:22.49\00:04:25.59 - Absolutely, yes. 00:04:25.59\00:04:27.46 I mean, you know, our flesh wants, 00:04:27.46\00:04:31.70 really, only to serve ourselves, 00:04:32.77\00:04:34.77 we don't want to be self-sacrificing, 00:04:34.77\00:04:38.27 and so, it does require a lot of surrender, 00:04:38.27\00:04:42.48 and I think we also often tend to think that... 00:04:42.48\00:04:46.88 You know, we're invited to count the cost, 00:04:47.98\00:04:49.32 and we tend to think that the cost is gonna be great 00:04:49.32\00:04:52.79 to serve Christ, and so maybe we should serve ourselves, 00:04:52.79\00:04:55.79 but in reality, when you think of it, 00:04:55.79\00:04:58.16 what is the cost of selfishness? 00:05:00.23\00:05:02.66 Eventually, eternally, 00:05:03.93\00:05:05.33 selfishness is sins, 00:05:06.27\00:05:07.70 the wages of sin is death, 00:05:07.70\00:05:09.74 but the cost of following Jesus, 00:05:09.74\00:05:12.01 we may give up a few things here, 00:05:12.01\00:05:13.81 but we have eternal life, eternal joy with him, and so... 00:05:13.81\00:05:18.25 And even... 00:05:19.21\00:05:20.45 You know, we're promised even joy here, right now, 00:05:20.45\00:05:23.32 despite the tribulations we'll have, 00:05:23.32\00:05:24.99 so there's no comparison, 00:05:24.99\00:05:28.06 the cost of serving ourselves is far greater 00:05:28.06\00:05:31.36 than the cost of serving Christ. 00:05:31.36\00:05:32.83 - Wow. Yeah, that's profound. 00:05:32.83\00:05:34.83 And so what does this look like in your life right now? 00:05:34.83\00:05:38.43 I mean, how, personally, are you seeing yourself 00:05:38.43\00:05:41.54 following Jesus where he's leading you? 00:05:41.54\00:05:43.47 - So I tend to be a person with a lot of eclectic interests, 00:05:43.47\00:05:47.44 and desires to do all manner of random things, 00:05:47.44\00:05:51.31 entrepreneurial things, specifically, 00:05:51.31\00:05:53.31 you know, I'm always thinking about things, 00:05:53.31\00:05:55.48 and even after I'd started working here at Jesus for Asia, 00:05:55.48\00:06:00.22 for a while, I had this in my mind that I wanted to do this 00:06:00.22\00:06:05.26 and also do a number of other things 00:06:06.26\00:06:07.60 that were not necessarily bad, honestly, 00:06:07.60\00:06:10.10 but were not really specifically going 00:06:10.10\00:06:13.94 to have any eternal value. 00:06:13.94\00:06:15.50 And recently, I was convicted 00:06:16.34\00:06:19.24 that time is short, and the cost of wasting time 00:06:19.24\00:06:24.31 on things that aren't going 00:06:26.31\00:06:27.68 to have eternal value is a cost I don't want to incur. 00:06:27.68\00:06:31.39 I want to dedicate my life to Christ's work, 00:06:31.39\00:06:35.59 and so that affects the decisions I make 00:06:35.59\00:06:39.49 in that regard of entrepreneurial pursuits 00:06:39.49\00:06:43.40 and things like that, but it also... 00:06:43.40\00:06:45.73 It affects the day to day because, 00:06:45.73\00:06:48.07 you know, you can very easily waste a lot of time on... 00:06:48.07\00:06:50.94 I don't know, YouTube's a big one for me. 00:06:50.94\00:06:53.61 - This and that, even, you know... 00:06:53.61\00:06:54.78 - Right, and you hear the Holy Spirit calling 00:06:54.78\00:06:56.61 in the back of your mind, saying, 00:06:56.61\00:06:57.85 "I have something better for you to do right now," 00:06:57.85\00:07:00.32 and it's... 00:07:00.32\00:07:01.68 I think, you know, it feels like a struggle, 00:07:01.68\00:07:05.42 but oftentimes, it doesn't have to be a struggle, 00:07:05.42\00:07:09.92 if we were merely to obey the Holy Spirit's calling, 00:07:09.92\00:07:14.60 then we would... 00:07:14.60\00:07:16.03 I've found that we find joy immediately 00:07:16.03\00:07:19.70 in that obedience when we just surrender it. 00:07:19.70\00:07:24.31 - Wow. 00:07:24.31\00:07:25.27 So you're finding joy in the work 00:07:25.27\00:07:27.21 that you're doing right now... 00:07:27.21\00:07:28.54 - [Michael] Yes. 00:07:28.54\00:07:29.78 - Because it's making a difference for the gospel? 00:07:29.78\00:07:32.11 - Yes. Yes. 00:07:32.11\00:07:33.72 - All right. 00:07:33.72\00:07:34.78 Well, I appreciate you being on today 00:07:34.78\00:07:36.38 and sharing just a little glimpse, 00:07:36.38\00:07:37.65 hopefully, another time, 00:07:37.65\00:07:38.79 we'll have time to spend a little more... 00:07:38.79\00:07:41.16 Hearing more of your story and your journey with the Lord, 00:07:41.16\00:07:43.86 but thank you so much for joining us today. 00:07:43.86\00:07:45.53 - Thank you. 00:07:45.53\00:07:46.66 - At this time, we have a video of Sarah, 00:07:46.66\00:07:48.13 a young lady who's been in Thailand 00:07:48.13\00:07:49.83 serving at a children's home, the Nortons children's home, 00:07:49.83\00:07:53.07 and then, she also recently got to visit Gayle Haberkam, 00:07:53.07\00:07:57.31 who is our nurse in the mountain jungles, 00:07:57.31\00:07:59.67 we were able to catch up with her there. 00:07:59.67\00:08:01.94 Let's watch that video. 00:08:01.94\00:08:03.91 (uplifting piano music) 00:08:03.91\00:08:07.32 - So I went on my first mission trip to Thailand in India 00:08:09.65\00:08:12.62 when I was seven years old, 00:08:12.62\00:08:14.29 I got this whole new world opened up to me 00:08:14.29\00:08:17.46 of all the culturally different things, 00:08:17.46\00:08:20.20 and how different it was 00:08:20.20\00:08:21.53 from anything I had experienced in my life, 00:08:21.53\00:08:23.40 and I just fell in love with the adventure, 00:08:23.40\00:08:26.37 and I came back when I was 11, 00:08:26.37\00:08:29.07 14, I did my first evangelistic series in India 00:08:30.44\00:08:33.48 and that was really hard, but really growing, 00:08:33.48\00:08:36.41 and then, I came back when I was 16 00:08:36.41\00:08:38.11 and I was able to actually come here, 00:08:38.11\00:08:39.78 and I fell in love with working 00:08:39.78\00:08:41.85 in the medical mission field with Gayle and... 00:08:41.85\00:08:44.49 (indistinct) 00:08:44.49\00:08:45.55 In the mountains, it's so beautiful, 00:08:45.55\00:08:47.62 and then, this is my most recent mission trip at 19. 00:08:47.62\00:08:50.83 (uplifting piano music) 00:08:50.83\00:08:54.20 It's hard to plan, 'cause God 00:08:56.36\00:08:58.37 doesn't always reveal our whole life, 00:08:58.37\00:09:00.14 but right now, I'm planning to get a degree 00:09:00.14\00:09:03.20 in some sort of medical training, 00:09:03.20\00:09:06.14 and then, Lord willing, coming back 00:09:07.18\00:09:09.41 and working as a missionary in the medical missionary field. 00:09:09.41\00:09:12.81 (uplifting piano music) 00:09:12.81\00:09:16.38 So from my experiences being able to do evangelism, 00:09:16.38\00:09:19.85 and building churches, and helping people 00:09:19.85\00:09:22.56 who couldn't get medical care outside of me 00:09:22.56\00:09:25.86 and the team that I was working with, 00:09:25.86\00:09:28.33 I found this fulfillment in life, even though I'm so young 00:09:28.33\00:09:32.40 that, like, I feel like many people have never experienced. 00:09:32.40\00:09:36.54 You can go to bed knowing that you've helped people, 00:09:36.54\00:09:39.21 or, like, you've given a church building 00:09:39.21\00:09:42.18 that they wouldn't have had if I didn't give my time to go, 00:09:42.18\00:09:46.11 or, like, here maybe, people would be sick, 00:09:46.11\00:09:47.68 they don't know how to take care of themselves, 00:09:47.68\00:09:49.68 and it's just a huge blessing to be able to be a blessing, 00:09:49.68\00:09:54.16 and I've fallen in love with how fulfilling it is. 00:09:54.16\00:09:57.99 (gentle guitar music) 00:09:57.99\00:10:01.33 One of the things that I love about working with Gayle 00:10:01.33\00:10:04.60 is, like, watching how they give their best 00:10:04.60\00:10:08.37 to every single patient, they're using natural remedies 00:10:08.37\00:10:11.37 and also medicine to just, like, provide for these people 00:10:11.37\00:10:14.91 to the best of their ability, and that's so impactful to me 00:10:14.91\00:10:18.21 because we don't take the time 00:10:18.21\00:10:20.78 to care about our neighbors a lot at home, 00:10:20.78\00:10:23.45 or to, like, even consider the people that we're around, 00:10:23.45\00:10:26.35 their needs, or how we can benefit them, 00:10:26.35\00:10:28.99 but here, it's just, like, giving our best 00:10:28.99\00:10:31.46 to each person one after the other, 00:10:31.46\00:10:33.53 whether it's, like, two hours after you've eaten lunch 00:10:33.53\00:10:36.40 and it's super inconvenient, or, you know, you're having... 00:10:36.40\00:10:39.83 They're having to hike in rainy season 00:10:39.83\00:10:41.67 and they're just pouring their heart into it, and it's... 00:10:41.67\00:10:45.14 It makes me wanna do it, 00:10:45.14\00:10:46.78 like, it makes me want to have the impact on somebody's life 00:10:46.78\00:10:49.68 that they're able to have out here. (gentle guitar music) 00:10:49.68\00:10:53.82 - Well, that's powerful, thinking about each other, 00:10:57.29\00:10:59.69 the people that are around us, 00:10:59.69\00:11:00.72 at the store with us or whatever, 00:11:00.72\00:11:02.72 no matter what we're doing, but also thinking about people 00:11:02.72\00:11:05.69 that are on the other side of the world, 00:11:05.69\00:11:07.36 and that's who we wanna meet next, and that is Gayle. 00:11:07.36\00:11:10.33 We have a video with her. 00:11:10.33\00:11:12.20 We caught her at the end of her week of evangelism, 00:11:12.20\00:11:15.14 where her sister got to go and do evangelism in her village. 00:11:15.14\00:11:19.07 So this is Gayle after 15 years of serving there, 00:11:19.07\00:11:23.01 and her first baptism was actually six years 00:11:23.01\00:11:25.75 after she moved there, 00:11:25.75\00:11:27.12 so it's a long-term commitment for Gayle. 00:11:27.12\00:11:29.32 Let's watch that now. 00:11:29.32\00:11:31.05 (gentle piano music) 00:11:31.05\00:11:33.99 - When I came here to this village, 00:11:33.99\00:11:36.76 I had no money, but I had a love for the people, 00:11:36.76\00:11:41.73 and because I'm a nurse, that's my way to build a bridge 00:11:41.73\00:11:45.47 to the people's heart, if I take care of their illness, 00:11:45.47\00:11:48.67 so the more that I gave to the people here, 00:11:48.67\00:11:52.81 the more the Lord gave to me, 00:11:52.81\00:11:54.81 and so, gradually, the work grew. 00:11:54.81\00:11:57.38 At first, maybe four or five people 00:11:58.71\00:12:00.65 would come to church back then, 00:12:00.65\00:12:02.92 and as we treated the sick and prayed with them, 00:12:02.92\00:12:06.79 and told them a little bit about God, 00:12:06.79\00:12:08.52 and we'd visit the villages 00:12:08.52\00:12:09.62 and we would have worship with the people, 00:12:09.62\00:12:12.16 people would start to come to this church, 00:12:12.16\00:12:14.46 and so, that now, almost 15 years later, 00:12:14.46\00:12:18.23 60 or 70 people come to church every Sabbath, 00:12:18.23\00:12:21.87 and every year, as we have evangelism, 00:12:21.87\00:12:25.01 more and more people are coming, 00:12:25.01\00:12:26.81 and also, we're having more and more baptisms. 00:12:26.81\00:12:30.15 (uplifting orchestral music) 00:12:30.15\00:12:33.95 When I was in America over the summer, 00:12:33.95\00:12:36.82 I had time with my sister. 00:12:36.82\00:12:39.05 They wanted to pray for me. What do I need prayer for? 00:12:39.05\00:12:42.82 Well, I told them I need to pray for an evangelist 00:12:42.82\00:12:45.93 'cause every year, I come to America, 00:12:45.93\00:12:47.76 and somebody gets called of God and is inspired to come, 00:12:47.76\00:12:50.87 but this year, nobody, all the doors closed, 00:12:50.87\00:12:54.14 and so, during prayer for an evangelist, 00:12:54.14\00:12:57.67 she heard the Holy Spirit say to you... 00:12:57.67\00:12:59.41 Her, "Well, you could do it." 00:12:59.41\00:13:01.91 Then that evening, I was talking to... 00:13:01.91\00:13:04.25 (indistinct) 00:13:04.25\00:13:05.08 On the phone, and he... 00:13:05.08\00:13:07.48 I told him, "There's no evangelist prepared, 00:13:07.48\00:13:10.09 we don't have anyone." 00:13:10.09\00:13:11.25 And then, he said, shockingly, 00:13:11.25\00:13:14.02 "What about your sister?" 00:13:14.02\00:13:15.82 So for breakfast the next morning, I'm talking to my 00:13:15.82\00:13:18.59 sister and I told her what... 00:13:18.59\00:13:19.43 (indistinct) 00:13:19.43\00:13:20.20 Said, and she was shocked 00:13:20.20\00:13:21.73 because of what the Holy Spirit told her, 00:13:21.73\00:13:24.50 and from there, she was convinced and convicted, 00:13:24.50\00:13:27.70 God was calling her. 00:13:27.70\00:13:29.20 She has studied night and day, prayed so much 00:13:29.20\00:13:34.04 so that when these meetings began, 00:13:34.04\00:13:36.95 they were inspired of God, 00:13:36.95\00:13:39.95 and from the first night 00:13:39.95\00:13:42.52 all the way through to today on the Sabbath day, 00:13:42.52\00:13:45.79 that church was packed. 00:13:45.79\00:13:47.52 They are very interested 00:13:47.52\00:13:49.76 and really earnestly listening to everything, 00:13:49.76\00:13:53.63 and today was the last day, 00:13:53.63\00:13:56.26 the Sabbath divine worship was extremely powerful 00:13:56.26\00:14:01.10 by the grace of God through my sister. 00:14:01.10\00:14:04.17 (uplifting piano music) 00:14:04.17\00:14:07.74 There is a man and his wife and family 00:14:07.74\00:14:10.58 that live in... 00:14:10.58\00:14:11.48 (indistinct) 00:14:11.48\00:14:12.65 Village, they wanted a worship in their house, 00:14:12.65\00:14:14.35 so we all went, 00:14:14.35\00:14:15.52 and everybody cut all their devil strings off, 00:14:15.52\00:14:18.52 and they all decided they were gonna be Christians. 00:14:18.52\00:14:21.42 Well, our work just begins then 00:14:21.42\00:14:22.96 because they know nothing about that, 00:14:22.96\00:14:24.63 they just know they don't wanna sacrifice their animals 00:14:24.63\00:14:27.56 and lose all that, and they see that 00:14:27.56\00:14:29.66 that doesn't do anything, 00:14:29.66\00:14:31.47 and we are very happy, so that attracts them, and... 00:14:31.47\00:14:35.14 (indistinct) 00:14:35.14\00:14:35.97 Had been to our church so much 00:14:35.97\00:14:37.54 that his family knew something also, 00:14:37.54\00:14:40.21 and so, from that worship on, 00:14:40.21\00:14:44.25 the wife also was very interested 00:14:44.25\00:14:47.28 in the Seventh Adventist Church and the truth, 00:14:47.28\00:14:50.59 and so, the man and his wife were here 00:14:50.59\00:14:54.12 ready for baptism today. 00:14:54.12\00:14:55.99 (uplifting piano music) 00:14:55.99\00:14:59.49 As I sat there in the church today, 00:14:59.49\00:15:02.10 packed out with all these people, 00:15:03.57\00:15:06.60 Baptist members, people that worship the devil, 00:15:06.60\00:15:09.80 people that don't worship anything, or the ghost, or 00:15:09.80\00:15:14.88 Buddha, I'm thinking about each one 00:15:15.68\00:15:18.01 and how so many lives, physically, I've been able to 00:15:18.01\00:15:23.08 save, and I think, you know, if I didn't obey God to come here, 00:15:24.52\00:15:27.86 what would be the result to these people here? 00:15:27.86\00:15:31.03 And then, what about the people getting baptized? 00:15:31.03\00:15:34.30 What about the people that God 00:15:34.30\00:15:35.93 is working on their heart that can be in heaven 00:15:35.93\00:15:39.43 because I'm here? 00:15:39.43\00:15:41.30 And I'm just an ordinary person, 00:15:41.30\00:15:43.71 and I just wanna work for God 00:15:43.71\00:15:46.07 and see that these people can come with me to heaven also. 00:15:47.51\00:15:52.18 (people singing in foreign language) 00:15:53.25\00:15:57.22 God has many people in this area, 00:15:57.22\00:16:00.52 and in these villages surrounding us here, 00:16:00.52\00:16:03.86 that we will see in heaven, 00:16:03.86\00:16:07.03 and if I'm happy about this baptism today, 00:16:07.03\00:16:10.20 when I'm in heaven, I couldn't contain the joy, I'm sure. 00:16:10.20\00:16:15.27 - I love how Gayle says, "I couldn't contain the joy." 00:16:20.24\00:16:23.18 Once she gets to heaven 00:16:23.18\00:16:24.21 and she sees all those beautiful people 00:16:24.21\00:16:26.78 who have been ministered to and brought to Jesus 00:16:26.78\00:16:29.32 by the ministry that he's led her into, 00:16:29.32\00:16:31.55 and this is a result of following the Lamb with her 00:16:31.55\00:16:35.06 so ever he goes. 00:16:35.06\00:16:36.76 Our next guest is a young man 00:16:36.76\00:16:38.63 who's using his talents and gifts for the Lord, 00:16:38.63\00:16:40.53 welcome to the show, Cameron. 00:16:40.53\00:16:42.20 - Hi. 00:16:42.20\00:16:43.16 - We're so glad to have you here. 00:16:43.16\00:16:44.40 - It's good to be here. - And I wanted to ask you, 00:16:44.40\00:16:45.57 what does following the Lamb wherever...? 00:16:45.57\00:16:47.77 So ever he goes, or wherever he's going, mean to you? 00:16:47.77\00:16:51.31 - I think the first thing that comes to mind, 00:16:52.54\00:16:54.21 is just, like, where the Lamb was willing to go, 00:16:54.21\00:16:58.48 which was leaving this place that was perfect, 00:16:58.48\00:17:02.32 you know, leaving heaven, going from being 00:17:02.32\00:17:05.02 at the highest position he could possibly be, 00:17:05.02\00:17:08.12 and as humans, so often, we try to seek 00:17:08.12\00:17:12.36 the highest place that we can be. 00:17:12.36\00:17:13.83 He was at the highest place, 00:17:13.83\00:17:15.50 and yet, he decided willingly to give that up 00:17:15.50\00:17:18.20 and humble himself to the death on the cross 00:17:18.20\00:17:22.27 because he was not focused on himself, 00:17:23.37\00:17:26.07 he was completely focused on the fact 00:17:26.07\00:17:29.18 that his decision of where he was willing to go 00:17:29.18\00:17:33.62 would determine whether he'd ever be able 00:17:33.62\00:17:35.78 to be back with us again, his children, or not, 00:17:35.78\00:17:38.55 and so, I think being willing to go wherever he goes 00:17:38.55\00:17:42.12 is having that same attitude, 00:17:42.12\00:17:44.53 that same spirit of being willing to... 00:17:44.53\00:17:46.59 No matter how wonderful and comfortable your life is, 00:17:46.59\00:17:49.10 being able to be willing to give it up for someone else. 00:17:49.10\00:17:54.04 - Wow. 00:17:54.04\00:17:55.10 How has this affected your decisions 00:17:55.10\00:17:56.77 in your life, your career? 00:17:56.77\00:17:58.31 - You know, I feel like that I have 00:17:59.61\00:18:01.64 the most meaningful job that I could ever ask for... 00:18:01.64\00:18:03.95 - Wow. 00:18:03.95\00:18:05.38 - Which, you know, is crazy, 00:18:05.38\00:18:06.68 I mean, there's many people who aren't fulfilled, 00:18:06.68\00:18:09.15 they don't feel fulfilled, 00:18:09.15\00:18:10.49 they're working a 9:00-to-5:00 job and they hate it, 00:18:10.49\00:18:13.15 and being willing to do... 00:18:13.15\00:18:16.12 To go wherever God leads, 00:18:16.12\00:18:18.06 I think there's no more meaningful path in life 00:18:18.06\00:18:21.20 because it leads to just so many things 00:18:21.20\00:18:24.20 that you would never... 00:18:24.20\00:18:25.90 I would never have dreamed of, you know, doing on my own 00:18:25.90\00:18:29.27 if I had just been following my own vision for my life, 00:18:29.27\00:18:34.34 you know, I wouldn't have come across 00:18:35.34\00:18:36.64 so many amazing things, and the ways 00:18:36.64\00:18:40.32 that God has worked things out as well. 00:18:40.32\00:18:42.88 If I was working in a another career that... 00:18:42.88\00:18:47.96 Right? 00:18:48.39\00:18:49.52 That wasn't focused around working for God, 00:18:49.52\00:18:51.66 when things don't work out, I could... 00:18:51.66\00:18:54.60 I would get stressed out, you know? I'd- 00:18:54.60\00:18:55.30 - Ditch and run, or... 00:18:55.30\00:18:56.56 Yeah. 00:18:56.56\00:18:57.93 - There's no assurance that things are gonna work out, 00:18:57.93\00:19:00.24 you know, like, when you're working for God, 00:19:00.24\00:19:01.74 you know that no matter what happens, 00:19:01.74\00:19:04.11 everything works together for good to those who love God 00:19:04.11\00:19:06.81 and are called according to His purpose. 00:19:06.81\00:19:08.44 You don't have that assurance 00:19:08.44\00:19:09.44 when you aren't working for God, 00:19:09.44\00:19:11.11 and so, the peace, and the joy, 00:19:11.11\00:19:13.05 and the meaning that you get, 00:19:13.05\00:19:14.65 you can't get it anywhere else. 00:19:16.08\00:19:17.75 - Wow. 00:19:17.75\00:19:18.89 Well, praise the Lord, 00:19:18.89\00:19:20.12 I know the Lord has led you to do video and media 00:19:20.12\00:19:23.16 with Jesus for Asia, social media included, 00:19:23.16\00:19:26.06 but also, He's got you having your own ministry as well. 00:19:26.06\00:19:29.40 Can you share briefly what that is? 00:19:29.40\00:19:32.00 - Yeah, it's Rebrand Prophecy, 00:19:32.00\00:19:34.07 basically, the idea is a lot of people 00:19:34.07\00:19:36.64 see Bible prophecy as those two scary books 00:19:36.64\00:19:39.81 of the Bible that they don't wanna open, 00:19:39.81\00:19:41.94 and maybe they have a relationship with Christ 00:19:41.94\00:19:43.98 that they find very meaningful, 00:19:43.98\00:19:45.38 maybe they are even working to save souls that are lost, 00:19:45.38\00:19:49.08 and Bible prophecy often feels separate from that, 00:19:49.08\00:19:52.45 and I don't think God intended it to be 00:19:52.45\00:19:54.09 because the whole Bible is a love letter from God, 00:19:54.09\00:19:57.26 even Daniel and Revelation, 00:19:57.26\00:19:58.99 and so, we're using art and storytelling 00:19:58.99\00:20:01.43 to give people a different glimpse into Bible prophecy 00:20:01.43\00:20:04.27 that demonstrates how personal and relevant, 00:20:04.27\00:20:07.97 and even how intertwined into our... 00:20:07.97\00:20:10.14 The call of the Great Commission Bible prophecy is, 00:20:10.14\00:20:13.04 that we are called to be this generation 00:20:13.04\00:20:16.85 that reflects the character of God, 00:20:16.85\00:20:18.35 and that goes to the whole world to reach them, 00:20:18.35\00:20:21.85 you know, reach everyone for Christ 00:20:21.85\00:20:23.18 and to show the world that God is good in our lives. 00:20:23.18\00:20:26.32 - Wow. 00:20:26.32\00:20:27.29 Well, thank you so much, Cameron, 00:20:27.29\00:20:28.32 for being on and sharing with us today, 00:20:28.32\00:20:30.09 I really appreciated it. 00:20:30.09\00:20:31.19 - No problem. Thank you for having me. 00:20:31.19\00:20:32.69 - At this time, we have another video 00:20:32.69\00:20:34.10 from a missionary who's been in Cambodia for over 30 years, 00:20:34.10\00:20:37.60 Brother Tim Maddocks. 00:20:37.60\00:20:39.50 (uplifting piano music) 00:20:39.50\00:20:42.80 - Over the years, I've learned to trust God 00:20:49.48\00:20:51.51 and not allow things to make me afraid, 00:20:51.51\00:20:54.35 but in my own thinking, there's one thing that scares me, 00:20:54.35\00:20:57.89 and that is reflecting on what would've happened 00:20:57.89\00:21:01.56 some 30 years ago, when God first called us to Cambodia, 00:21:02.96\00:21:07.40 if we had said, "No." 00:21:08.43\00:21:10.13 Now, at that time, Cambodia was still at war with itself, 00:21:10.13\00:21:14.07 and infrastructure was pretty much destroyed. 00:21:14.07\00:21:17.24 We had two small children, 00:21:17.24\00:21:18.57 our youngest was not even one year of age, 00:21:18.57\00:21:21.24 and so, we're coming in to a war zone 00:21:21.24\00:21:24.11 with two little children, 00:21:24.11\00:21:25.88 and it just made no sense whatsoever. 00:21:25.88\00:21:29.28 (uplifting orchestral music) 00:21:29.28\00:21:33.69 When we got here, we realized, "Wait a minute, 00:21:33.69\00:21:37.39 we're the only Christians that we know of in this town," 00:21:37.39\00:21:41.70 and so, we've come here to do agricultural work 00:21:42.93\00:21:45.70 and help the people grow more rice, 00:21:45.70\00:21:47.84 but God actually sent us here 00:21:47.84\00:21:49.20 for a totally different reason, 00:21:49.20\00:21:50.91 he sent us here so that the people could know Jesus, 00:21:50.91\00:21:53.51 so we began sharing the gospel, 00:21:53.51\00:21:55.44 and we started a church in town when we lived in town, 00:21:55.44\00:21:57.71 and then, when we moved out here, 00:21:57.71\00:21:59.38 we started another church here 00:21:59.38\00:22:00.85 and we were training local people to be church planters, 00:22:00.85\00:22:04.89 and they were going out and sharing the gospel with people, 00:22:04.89\00:22:09.42 and then, we started the orphanage 00:22:10.66\00:22:11.96 and we saw the impact that Christ 00:22:11.96\00:22:13.43 was having on the lives of the children, 00:22:13.43\00:22:15.33 and the same with the school, 00:22:15.33\00:22:16.87 and we began to realize that, "Wait a minute, 00:22:18.03\00:22:22.97 if we had said, 'No,' when God first called us to Cambodia," 00:22:24.44\00:22:28.01 and there was every logical reason to say, "No," 00:22:29.28\00:22:31.11 "Then there would be hundreds, probably thousands of people 00:22:31.11\00:22:36.18 that would've never heard the gospel 00:22:37.19\00:22:38.72 and never had a chance to know Jesus as their savior," 00:22:38.72\00:22:42.02 and that's a very scary thought, 00:22:42.02\00:22:45.23 that it would've been that easy 00:22:45.23\00:22:46.73 to say, "No," for good reasons, 00:22:46.73\00:22:50.27 and yet, it could've changed 00:22:50.27\00:22:54.87 the kingdom of heaven in a negative way. 00:22:54.87\00:22:57.21 (uplifting orchestral music) 00:22:57.21\00:23:00.94 You know, I'll sit down in a gathering now, 00:23:03.88\00:23:05.75 a Christian gathering, and I'll look around, 00:23:05.75\00:23:09.18 not in a pride-ful way, 00:23:09.18\00:23:10.99 but realize that if I had said, "No," 00:23:10.99\00:23:13.66 most of the people in this gathering would just disappear 00:23:13.66\00:23:16.69 because they wouldn't know Christ and they wouldn't be 00:23:16.69\00:23:19.93 here, and so, I wanna encourage you, 00:23:19.93\00:23:21.03 if you hear God speaking to you 00:23:21.03\00:23:22.93 and he has something for you to do, 00:23:22.93\00:23:24.80 even if it seems completely crazy, 00:23:24.80\00:23:28.50 please seriously think about it 00:23:28.50\00:23:30.51 because it may be that God is calling you to something 00:23:30.51\00:23:35.24 that is absurd in the minds of people who don't know God. 00:23:35.24\00:23:40.32 Jesus has chosen us to continue making God's love 00:23:41.58\00:23:45.39 and His character known to the world, 00:23:45.39\00:23:47.82 and if you decide to be a missionary, 00:23:47.82\00:23:51.63 you have a wonderful opportunity to do that 00:23:51.63\00:23:54.30 because you may be the only Christian 00:23:54.30\00:23:56.43 that people get to see, 00:23:56.43\00:23:58.33 and He could use you just like He's used our family, 00:23:58.33\00:24:01.77 and the kingdom of heaven will be a healthier, happier place 00:24:01.77\00:24:05.57 because you said, "Yes," to God. 00:24:05.57\00:24:07.14 (uplifting piano music) 00:24:07.14\00:24:10.55 (uplifting piano music continues) 00:24:15.52\00:24:19.75 - At this time, we have Hannah joining us, 00:24:23.63\00:24:26.29 Hannah works with us as well, hello, Hannah. 00:24:26.29\00:24:28.10 - Hi. 00:24:28.10\00:24:28.93 - Welcome. 00:24:28.93\00:24:29.76 - Thank you. 00:24:29.76\00:24:31.00 - And we have a few questions for you as well. 00:24:31.00\00:24:32.70 (Natalie laughing) 00:24:32.70\00:24:33.87 So first of all, what does following Jesus 00:24:33.87\00:24:36.91 wherever he goes mean to you? 00:24:36.91\00:24:38.81 - I think that it means to surrender, 00:24:39.91\00:24:44.05 to be willing to go outside of your comfort zone, 00:24:45.35\00:24:48.62 to, you know, serve people in need or share the gospel, 00:24:48.62\00:24:52.39 or, you know, just hear God's voice, 00:24:52.39\00:24:55.92 and I can't say that I've always done that perfectly, 00:24:55.92\00:24:59.83 but my life has been infinitely better 00:24:59.83\00:25:01.83 when I have done that. 00:25:01.83\00:25:03.13 - Okay. 00:25:03.13\00:25:04.30 So how did you first get involved in missions? 00:25:04.30\00:25:06.80 - My experience really started when God prompted me 00:25:06.80\00:25:09.84 to do student missions when I was a student 00:25:09.84\00:25:13.17 at Southern Adventist University, 00:25:13.17\00:25:14.64 and I really didn't wanna do it. 00:25:14.64\00:25:16.48 I put up so many protests about it, 00:25:17.45\00:25:20.72 but God kept pushing it and pushing it, 00:25:20.72\00:25:25.05 and eventually it got to the point 00:25:25.05\00:25:26.92 where it was so clear that I, like, couldn't say, "No," 00:25:26.92\00:25:29.42 because it was just so obvious 00:25:29.42\00:25:31.89 that it really was God calling me 00:25:31.89\00:25:33.13 and not just me imagining things 00:25:33.13\00:25:34.36 like I was trying to assume, 00:25:34.36\00:25:36.33 and my student missions experience, 00:25:37.53\00:25:40.47 I would say in many ways, was the most difficult thing 00:25:40.47\00:25:45.44 that I've ever experienced in my life, 00:25:45.44\00:25:48.21 you know, having to speak a different language, 00:25:48.21\00:25:51.08 not having any money at one point, 00:25:51.08\00:25:53.11 a lot of personal challenges at the same time, 00:25:53.11\00:25:55.75 and yet, I came out of it having the most joy 00:25:55.75\00:26:00.49 I've ever experienced in my life, 00:26:00.49\00:26:02.72 and as I was finishing my education, 00:26:02.72\00:26:06.03 I just came to the point of thinking, 00:26:06.03\00:26:09.10 "What's the purpose of just working a corporate job? 00:26:09.10\00:26:12.30 Of fulfilling, you know, all these ideas and dreams 00:26:12.30\00:26:15.27 that I had for my life 00:26:15.27\00:26:16.81 when there is so much more joy in service?" 00:26:16.81\00:26:20.34 - So then you got involved with Jesus for Asia? 00:26:21.58\00:26:23.51 - Yeah. 00:26:23.51\00:26:24.28 - And what have you found? 00:26:24.28\00:26:25.78 - Yeah, I think the biggest thing 00:26:25.78\00:26:28.35 is just getting to see God work on a daily basis, 00:26:28.35\00:26:33.22 whether that's situations in the office 00:26:33.22\00:26:35.86 where we see answers to prayer, 00:26:35.86\00:26:37.69 or whether, you know, it's stories or reports 00:26:37.69\00:26:40.30 that we get from the field 00:26:40.30\00:26:41.50 of all of the many miracles that God has done, 00:26:41.50\00:26:44.23 it's just such a blessing to see 00:26:44.23\00:26:46.07 that, like, God is real and working today, 00:26:46.07\00:26:47.70 it's not just, you know... 00:26:47.70\00:26:49.94 He didn't just do all these amazing things 00:26:49.94\00:26:51.74 back in the time of the apostles or in other Bible times, 00:26:51.74\00:26:56.58 he's doing it now. 00:26:56.58\00:26:59.48 -
