(bright music) 00:00:01.53\00:00:04.20 - Hello and welcome to "Jesus for Asia Now". 00:00:21.78\00:00:24.15 I'm Natalie Wood 00:00:24.15\00:00:25.29 and my husband John is joining me today. 00:00:25.29\00:00:27.29 Hello, love. 00:00:27.29\00:00:28.66 - Hi darling, how are you? - I'm doing well, thank you. 00:00:28.66\00:00:30.83 - Good. - And I'm looking forward 00:00:30.83\00:00:32.36 to this show. - Yeah. 00:00:32.36\00:00:33.73 - Because we're talking about something 00:00:33.73\00:00:35.10 we don't often talk about. 00:00:35.10\00:00:36.56 - Right. - But it's really important. 00:00:36.56\00:00:37.90 - Yes, yes. - So what is that? 00:00:37.90\00:00:40.04 - Well, it's Bible worker training. 00:00:40.04\00:00:42.17 - Okay. - Yeah, 00:00:42.17\00:00:43.81 training our Bible workers 00:00:43.81\00:00:45.34 and how to share the gospel and how to do soul-winning 00:00:45.34\00:00:47.18 and how to actually run a church. 00:00:47.18\00:00:49.44 - Okay, well before we go on, you're very sparkly today. 00:00:49.44\00:00:52.98 I'm sorry to embarrass you 'cause I'm very plain today. 00:00:55.35\00:00:57.92 Some days I'm the sparkly one, 00:00:57.92\00:00:59.62 but today you're sparkly. - You have design 00:00:59.62\00:01:00.39 in your clothes. 00:01:00.39\00:01:01.16 But I bought this in India 00:01:01.16\00:01:02.92 and I bought it on the streets in Mumbai 00:01:02.92\00:01:05.29 and I didn't realize it was quite the sparkly, 00:01:05.29\00:01:07.40 so I'm a little self-conscious to be honest. 00:01:07.40\00:01:09.66 - Oh, well, 00:01:11.60\00:01:12.70 it's kind of fun. - Yeah, I just hope 00:01:12.70\00:01:13.70 it doesn't distract too many people. 00:01:13.70\00:01:15.77 - Right. 00:01:15.77\00:01:16.91 So back to our Bible worker training program. 00:01:16.91\00:01:18.77 - Right. - We have a couple, 00:01:18.77\00:01:20.61 some friends of ours 00:01:20.61\00:01:22.44 that have a burden for training people 00:01:22.44\00:01:25.51 to tell others about Jesus. - Yes. 00:01:25.51\00:01:27.72 - In effective and simple ways. 00:01:27.72\00:01:29.62 - Yeah. - And also 00:01:29.62\00:01:30.75 to do basic medical missionary training. 00:01:30.75\00:01:33.76 So how did they get started? 00:01:35.42\00:01:36.83 I mean, it's a pretty, it's four month training, right? 00:01:36.83\00:01:39.89 - Yes, four months. - And full days every day 00:01:39.89\00:01:43.60 for (indistinct) for four months. 00:01:43.60\00:01:46.77 - Correct. - So how did they get started? 00:01:46.77\00:01:49.20 How did this couple get started with this training program? 00:01:49.20\00:01:51.41 - Well, God called them. 00:01:51.41\00:01:53.17 They were doing well, they were retired 00:01:53.17\00:01:55.11 and retired happily in northeast Washington, 00:01:55.11\00:01:59.48 and the Lord called them into the mission field 00:01:59.48\00:02:02.25 and they were unsure, 00:02:02.25\00:02:04.92 but they heard God's voice pretty clearly. 00:02:04.92\00:02:06.35 So they went to one country for a while 00:02:06.35\00:02:08.32 and they started training the locals in how 00:02:08.32\00:02:10.89 to give Bible studies and how to give presentations 00:02:10.89\00:02:13.43 and how to make it engaging and interesting and fun. 00:02:13.43\00:02:16.30 - And simple health talks. 00:02:16.30\00:02:17.87 - Yeah, and then that kind of closed up. 00:02:17.87\00:02:20.30 And so they started looking around 00:02:20.30\00:02:21.90 and saying, "What else can we do?" 00:02:21.90\00:02:23.84 And they realized there was a need 00:02:23.84\00:02:25.67 for Bible worker training. 00:02:25.67\00:02:26.84 And so they started in a different country. 00:02:26.84\00:02:29.38 And so they started looking into 00:02:29.38\00:02:31.01 what materials are available. 00:02:31.01\00:02:32.95 And they started to realize 00:02:32.95\00:02:33.95 that there's nothing really available 00:02:33.95\00:02:37.69 as far as a training program that's been adapted 00:02:37.69\00:02:41.02 to the local culture. 00:02:41.02\00:02:42.56 So there's lots of things that have been brought over to, 00:02:43.96\00:02:47.60 let's say, for instance, India 00:02:47.60\00:02:49.66 and like health messages, you know? 00:02:49.66\00:02:53.47 And one of the things that they say a lot 00:02:53.47\00:02:56.40 of times in these health messages, 00:02:56.40\00:02:57.91 health trainings are, 00:02:57.91\00:02:59.14 "You need to bake your own bread." 00:03:00.18\00:03:01.64 - Yeah. 00:03:01.64\00:03:02.54 Well they do that, it's called chapati. 00:03:03.65\00:03:05.05 - In the north. 00:03:05.98\00:03:06.98 - Right. - But they don't bake bread 00:03:06.98\00:03:09.08 and they don't- - Right, it's not loaves. 00:03:09.08\00:03:11.12 - They don't have yeast. - In an oven like that. 00:03:11.12\00:03:14.19 - But like what are the health concerns in that country 00:03:14.19\00:03:15.96 versus what we have here? 00:03:15.96\00:03:17.86 - Right. - For instance, 00:03:17.86\00:03:19.56 in some of the countries I've been in, 00:03:19.56\00:03:20.96 I've seen pastors wake up pastors at 10 o'clock at night 00:03:20.96\00:03:24.93 to eat a big heavy meal. 00:03:24.93\00:03:26.30 And they have the idea- - And us too. 00:03:26.30\00:03:28.87 - Yeah. - Us (indistinct) to go home. 00:03:28.87\00:03:29.94 - And they have the idea that you can't go to bed 00:03:31.07\00:03:32.21 on an empty stomach, that's not healthy. 00:03:32.21\00:03:34.61 And so there's different kinds of needs. 00:03:34.61\00:03:36.81 Some people don't know you should wash your hands. 00:03:36.81\00:03:39.75 We've seen a lot of times, 00:03:39.75\00:03:41.35 they'll be cutting up the vegetables on a knife 00:03:41.35\00:03:44.45 that's sitting on the floor 00:03:44.45\00:03:45.62 and they'll be holding the knife apparatus down 00:03:45.62\00:03:48.72 with their foot. 00:03:48.72\00:03:50.06 And so there's just a lot of things that really need 00:03:50.06\00:03:52.89 to be addressed that we don't think about here in America. 00:03:52.89\00:03:57.20 So they spent five years developing a program 00:03:57.20\00:04:00.97 that's specific to the needs of the local people, 00:04:00.97\00:04:04.44 not just health, but also filling 00:04:04.44\00:04:07.34 in gaps of Bible knowledge, 00:04:07.34\00:04:09.84 you know, how is the world created, what is faith? 00:04:09.84\00:04:13.42 What does it mean to have a relationship with Christ? 00:04:13.42\00:04:14.55 What does prayer, how does prayer work? 00:04:14.55\00:04:16.82 How does a devotional life work? 00:04:16.82\00:04:17.82 How do I read the Bible? 00:04:17.82\00:04:19.05 - What does it look like to have a devotional life? 00:04:19.05\00:04:21.66 - Yeah, all that stuff. 00:04:21.66\00:04:23.39 So a lot of times people will get converted 00:04:23.39\00:04:27.50 but they don't know how to maintain a prayer life 00:04:27.50\00:04:31.40 for instance. 00:04:31.40\00:04:32.90 And so they spent five years putting this together 00:04:32.90\00:04:35.67 and they came up with four books and- 00:04:36.67\00:04:38.01 - It's story-based lessons too, which is really neat. 00:04:38.01\00:04:40.81 - Yeah. - It takes the Bible stories 00:04:40.81\00:04:43.11 and draws out the principles, the doctrines shows who God is 00:04:43.11\00:04:47.58 through the stories. 00:04:47.58\00:04:48.62 - Right. - So it's really 00:04:48.62\00:04:50.32 a valuable series of materials 00:04:50.32\00:04:53.72 - And it's been really effective. 00:04:53.72\00:04:54.56 And it's a four month program. 00:04:54.56\00:04:56.73 They do it about twice a year 00:04:56.73\00:04:58.49 and it requires the students to know English. 00:04:58.49\00:05:01.06 - Which is a challenge for some of them. 00:05:01.06\00:05:02.90 - Right, obviously they can only take people 00:05:02.90\00:05:05.47 that know English. 00:05:05.47\00:05:06.70 Most of our Bible workers do not know English. 00:05:06.70\00:05:09.14 But the vision is for the ones that come to learn 00:05:09.14\00:05:13.58 and then they go and they train the people 00:05:13.58\00:05:15.21 in the places that they're from. 00:05:15.21\00:05:17.41 - Right, in their own languages, yes. 00:05:17.41\00:05:19.48 - Yeah, yeah, yeah. 00:05:20.62\00:05:21.85 And we get people from all over the country coming 00:05:21.85\00:05:24.02 and other countries. - Yeah and other countries. 00:05:24.02\00:05:26.05 We've had a few from other countries come in. 00:05:26.05\00:05:28.86 - Yeah, and they get the training 00:05:28.86\00:05:30.29 and then they take that back 00:05:30.29\00:05:31.73 and they're really very, very thankful for that training. 00:05:31.73\00:05:34.83 - Which is neat because now one of those countries 00:05:34.83\00:05:37.30 that was able to send people in, 00:05:37.30\00:05:39.47 now they're doing the training program there also. 00:05:39.47\00:05:41.74 - Yes. - Which is a huge challenge, 00:05:41.74\00:05:43.10 but yes, they're doing it there, so it's expanded already. 00:05:43.10\00:05:46.27 - Exactly. 00:05:47.08\00:05:48.21 And so even though their English is required 00:05:48.21\00:05:50.61 and they also charge a fee for the training, 00:05:50.61\00:05:54.52 every single session has been packed out. 00:05:55.65\00:05:58.19 There's been a waiting list of like 50 to 60 to 80 people 00:05:59.62\00:06:03.32 that aren't able to attend 00:06:03.32\00:06:04.69 because they only allow 40 people per session. 00:06:05.86\00:06:08.46 - Which is still a lot 00:06:08.46\00:06:10.13 when you only it's lot have a couple people teaching. 00:06:10.13\00:06:11.70 - Yeah, so it's a lot of work. 00:06:11.70\00:06:13.64 It's amazing that this couple is living their retirement 00:06:13.64\00:06:17.24 in a foreign country in an area that's hard to live in. 00:06:17.24\00:06:22.31 And they're sticking with it because they see the fruits, 00:06:23.71\00:06:25.85 they see the results of the people that... 00:06:25.85\00:06:28.52 - So the story that we're gonna focus on at this point is 00:06:28.52\00:06:31.89 from a young man named Atui and he's from Manipur area 00:06:31.89\00:06:36.12 and he actually went to our Manipur school up there. 00:06:36.12\00:06:39.06 - Yes. - And it's called EBS, 00:06:39.06\00:06:41.53 English Boarding School. 00:06:42.30\00:06:43.26 So let's watch the first video now. 00:06:43.26\00:06:44.63 - Okay. - The school out here, 00:06:44.63\00:06:47.60 the English boarding High school, it's a school 00:06:47.60\00:06:50.41 where I have attended for two years. 00:06:50.41\00:06:53.81 My third and fourth grade, I've been here. 00:06:53.81\00:06:56.68 And during our days, it was a thatched house 00:06:56.68\00:06:59.51 with bamboo and other stuff. 00:06:59.51\00:07:01.98 And then after we left, 00:07:01.98\00:07:03.42 I've left the school for quite long 00:07:03.42\00:07:05.89 and then I came back maybe 00:07:05.89\00:07:07.06 after five years or six years or so. 00:07:07.06\00:07:09.82 I came back and there has been a lot of changes 00:07:09.82\00:07:13.16 that I've seen, infrastructure wise, 00:07:13.16\00:07:15.40 the systems, how they run it, 00:07:15.40\00:07:17.23 and things has changed and I see that God is leading 00:07:18.57\00:07:21.24 and I see that there is a lot of improvement done out here 00:07:21.24\00:07:24.97 and I thank God for that. 00:07:26.11\00:07:27.48 It is one of the oldest school out here 00:07:28.51\00:07:30.28 in the Khoupum Valley. 00:07:30.28\00:07:31.65 And then during this past year, it has had a lot of impact 00:07:31.65\00:07:35.32 for the people out here in the Khoupum Valley. 00:07:35.32\00:07:38.15 Of course there are a lot of graduated officials, 00:07:38.15\00:07:40.86 there are a lot of doctors and nurses 00:07:40.86\00:07:42.06 who is a product of the school, 00:07:42.06\00:07:43.93 and I still feel that the school still has a potential 00:07:43.93\00:07:47.40 to produce a lot of people to work 00:07:47.40\00:07:49.73 in God's vineyard in different parts 00:07:49.73\00:07:51.13 of the work field. 00:07:51.13\00:07:52.40 During our times, there are a lot 00:07:53.64\00:07:55.90 of the one whom we studied together, 00:07:55.90\00:07:57.24 there are a few nurses, there are a few doctors 00:07:57.24\00:07:59.61 who are under training and who are also already employed. 00:07:59.61\00:08:03.04 And even though you might not have seen a dramatic change 00:08:03.04\00:08:07.12 in a short span of time, 00:08:07.12\00:08:09.15 but I think there would be if this school improved 00:08:09.15\00:08:12.22 as the year goes by, there can be a lot 00:08:12.22\00:08:16.29 of changes in the young people 00:08:16.29\00:08:17.93 and that can lead to God in different part 00:08:17.93\00:08:20.40 of their life too. 00:08:21.26\00:08:22.53 - Yeah, so he only spent three years at that school, 00:08:22.53\00:08:26.70 but he has a lot of hope for it. 00:08:26.70\00:08:28.87 So it's neat to see his optimism about the school. 00:08:28.87\00:08:32.11 - Yeah, and it's nice to see somebody 00:08:32.11\00:08:34.08 that went through that school, 00:08:34.08\00:08:36.34 'cause we don't get that a lot. 00:08:36.34\00:08:37.61 I mean, we get a lot of testimonies of who's there now. 00:08:37.61\00:08:40.58 - Right. - But we don't get testimonies 00:08:40.58\00:08:42.28 after they've left very often. 00:08:42.28\00:08:43.99 - Correct. - So, and it's really neat 00:08:43.99\00:08:46.59 that he's now one of our Bible workers. 00:08:46.59\00:08:48.59 That's especially special. 00:08:48.59\00:08:50.29 Okay, so we have another video, 00:08:50.29\00:08:52.46 so this is more of his life story. 00:08:53.43\00:08:56.70 - Okay. (bright music) 00:08:56.70\00:09:01.77 - I am stationed in a place 00:09:02.80\00:09:04.04 where it's called an unentered area 00:09:04.04\00:09:05.94 where there is no Christianity. 00:09:05.94\00:09:08.01 The people who live there mostly are tribal, 00:09:08.01\00:09:12.08 but who do all the tribal rituals, 00:09:12.08\00:09:14.68 and those are the type of people that we are trying 00:09:14.68\00:09:18.12 to reach out to them prayerfully. 00:09:18.12\00:09:21.12 And of course it's a place where it's unentered 00:09:22.36\00:09:23.79 and Christianity is not very present to welcome out there. 00:09:23.79\00:09:28.60 So we are trying our best and then we hope 00:09:29.76\00:09:31.60 and pray that God will lead us to the longing soul. 00:09:31.60\00:09:36.27 (gentle music) 00:09:37.94\00:09:40.58 Our family is one of the pioneer 00:09:45.65\00:09:47.38 of the church out here in Khoupum Valley, 00:09:47.38\00:09:49.85 and then my grandfather is the first church elder 00:09:49.85\00:09:53.32 of the church. 00:09:53.32\00:09:54.82 But then due to some, you know, leadership issue, 00:09:54.82\00:09:58.43 few of my dad's brother, they backslide from the church. 00:09:58.43\00:10:03.47 And then my dad stood firm 00:10:04.23\00:10:06.77 and he wanted to remain as an Adventist. 00:10:06.77\00:10:09.10 And because of that reasons, we doesn't have any property, 00:10:09.10\00:10:12.71 our property was taken away. 00:10:12.71\00:10:14.31 So this is one thing that make me realize when I grew up, 00:10:14.31\00:10:19.11 what is this so special that my dad took 00:10:19.11\00:10:21.82 to stand as an Adventist? 00:10:21.82\00:10:23.52 And then we don't have land, we don't have property, 00:10:23.52\00:10:26.62 we don't have a paddy field, 00:10:26.62\00:10:28.49 we don't have our plot of house. 00:10:28.49\00:10:30.26 But then we, we doesn't go out of food, 00:10:30.26\00:10:32.26 we have the same meal they eat, 00:10:33.06\00:10:35.26 we have the same food they eat. 00:10:35.26\00:10:37.13 So I was thinking, what makes my dad to this? 00:10:37.13\00:10:39.40 And as I grew older, I have the visions that, 00:10:42.44\00:10:47.41 okay, I should fight for what my right is. 00:10:48.68\00:10:50.11 But I think my dad sees something, 00:10:50.11\00:10:52.55 he has his vision for me, I guess 00:10:52.55\00:10:55.48 and then he wants me to go down to down south in Tamil Nadu. 00:10:55.48\00:10:58.72 That's where that's really changes me. 00:10:58.72\00:11:00.99 I started to realize things in a very different way. 00:11:00.99\00:11:03.99 What's so important when you have all the worldly things 00:11:03.99\00:11:08.13 and if you can miss the heavenly thing 00:11:08.13\00:11:10.80 that God has given to us? 00:11:10.80\00:11:12.13 (gentle music) 00:11:12.13\00:11:14.80 And then my dad told me, 00:11:18.54\00:11:19.51 "Why didn't you go down to Spicer?" 00:11:19.51\00:11:21.24 I said, "Okay, I don't know nothing what I would be doing." 00:11:22.64\00:11:26.31 And then one of my classmates from high school came 00:11:26.31\00:11:29.22 and then I was not really interested 00:11:29.22\00:11:31.02 to go and take the admission form and other stuff. 00:11:31.02\00:11:34.66 So I told my friend, 00:11:34.66\00:11:36.26 "Can you get like an admission form for me too?" 00:11:36.26\00:11:38.96 So he got a form that is 00:11:38.96\00:11:42.03 to take Bachelor's in Theology, 00:11:42.03\00:11:44.40 not knowing that it was a theology course. 00:11:44.40\00:11:46.80 So after I filled it out, I know I said, 00:11:46.80\00:11:49.20 "Okay, maybe let's continue, let's go on." 00:11:49.20\00:11:51.27 Out of nowhere, I got a call to work in Manipur Conference 00:11:54.71\00:11:58.81 and then COVID hit and then things didn't work out well. 00:11:58.81\00:12:02.38 So because of the financial issue, they can't employ us. 00:12:03.79\00:12:05.62 So I stayed home, 00:12:05.62\00:12:06.72 I stayed home almost for a year or two, 00:12:06.72\00:12:09.36 not knowing what to do. 00:12:10.19\00:12:11.26 Then they stayed, "There is a place 00:12:11.26\00:12:12.36 where you can work as a Bible workers." 00:12:12.36\00:12:13.63 I was thinking, "Maybe this is a place to start." 00:12:13.63\00:12:16.26 And that's how I start to know about JFA 00:12:16.26\00:12:19.93 and then what they do and how they function 00:12:19.93\00:12:23.14 and how they employ Bible workers. 00:12:23.14\00:12:26.11 So I think as of now, I'm blessed 00:12:26.11\00:12:29.54 that I've been into this mission. 00:12:29.54\00:12:32.55 (bright music) 00:12:32.55\00:12:35.22 - Wow. - Interesting story- 00:12:38.42\00:12:40.56 - Yeah. - How he just wasn't sure 00:12:40.56\00:12:43.79 what he was gonna do and then the Lord moved in. 00:12:43.79\00:12:45.83 And this is an issue in that area 00:12:45.83\00:12:48.63 is there's a lot of religious conflicts. 00:12:48.63\00:12:51.60 And so when his families decided to stay true to the Bible 00:12:51.60\00:12:56.00 and to the truth, they lost all their property. 00:12:56.00\00:12:59.64 Then his father saw 00:13:01.01\00:13:02.18 that he was kind of getting into fighting 00:13:02.18\00:13:04.58 and this is a big deal, 00:13:04.58\00:13:06.95 you know, a lot of the people get into the army 00:13:06.95\00:13:09.35 and start fighting, intertribal warfare. 00:13:09.35\00:13:11.62 - Well, and actually there's a war going on now 00:13:11.62\00:13:14.42 in that area in Manipur. 00:13:14.42\00:13:15.76 - Right, and so his father sent him away down south. 00:13:15.76\00:13:20.96 And then he ended up, now he's a Bible worker 00:13:23.16\00:13:25.53 and he's a warrior for the Lord. 00:13:26.33\00:13:28.04 - Right. - And his weapon is his Bible. 00:13:28.04\00:13:30.34 - Right, yes. 00:13:30.34\00:13:31.67 And you know, it's such a blessing to see the heart 00:13:31.67\00:13:34.18 of these Bible workers. 00:13:34.18\00:13:35.18 I mean, he was just kind of like, 00:13:35.18\00:13:37.61 "Okay, I'll go to Spicer, get me an application," 00:13:37.61\00:13:40.25 and then it was the one for theology 00:13:40.25\00:13:41.85 and he is like, "Oh, okay." 00:13:41.85\00:13:43.25 You know, he kind of went with it anyway 00:13:43.25\00:13:46.19 even though he might have chosen something else 00:13:46.19\00:13:47.79 had he realized there was a choice at the time or whatever, 00:13:47.79\00:13:50.93 but God is using it to reach out to people. 00:13:52.09\00:13:54.83 - And now he's happy. - Yeah, that's awesome. 00:13:54.83\00:13:57.90 - Praise the Lord. - So then he got to go 00:13:57.90\00:13:59.17 to the Bible worker training recently? 00:13:59.17\00:14:00.87 - Yes. - So we have a video 00:14:00.87\00:14:02.34 from that time now. - Okay. 00:14:02.34\00:14:04.11 (group murmuring) 00:14:05.67\00:14:08.58 - It was a coordinator for "Jesus for Asia" 00:14:12.58\00:14:14.78 from Manipur Conference that called us, 00:14:14.78\00:14:17.72 that "Jesus for Asia" has sent a letter 00:14:17.72\00:14:20.02 encouraging the Bible workers to go down 00:14:20.02\00:14:21.72 for their medical missionary. 00:14:21.72\00:14:23.32 Traveling itself, it becomes a miracle for me. 00:14:23.32\00:14:26.90 Financially, we were not stable, 00:14:27.76\00:14:29.46 and then on top of that, 00:14:29.46\00:14:30.63 what happened was we planned to go by train 00:14:30.63\00:14:33.30 and then there was a flood in Assam, 00:14:33.30\00:14:35.07 and then there was a railroad track 00:14:35.07\00:14:37.27 and everything was carried away, they said, 00:14:37.27\00:14:39.34 "So we can't do it." 00:14:39.34\00:14:40.04 And then prayerfully, 00:14:40.04\00:14:41.84 I started to inquire with my parents 00:14:42.84\00:14:45.25 and then they said they had some little amount of money 00:14:45.25\00:14:48.02 and they give it to me. 00:14:48.02\00:14:49.98 So I book my flight ticket that goes to Bangalore. 00:14:49.98\00:14:52.05 And then from Bangalore, there was a friend of mine, 00:14:52.05\00:14:54.89 my high school classmate who paid 00:14:54.89\00:14:58.36 for my taxi from Bangalore to Hosur. 00:14:58.36\00:15:00.43 And all these things happens, 00:15:00.43\00:15:02.33 you know, in a blink of an eye within a day. 00:15:02.33\00:15:05.07 And then once we step in there, 00:15:06.07\00:15:07.44 there also was a big banner that they had and it says, 00:15:07.44\00:15:10.14 "We are His hands." 00:15:10.14\00:15:11.94 And that makes me to think, "We are His hands." 00:15:11.94\00:15:15.58 And then after I finished, 00:15:16.58\00:15:17.65 I realized that I came handicapped. 00:15:17.65\00:15:19.21 But then as I graduated, 00:15:19.21\00:15:22.08 I realized that we are his hands to serve the people. 00:15:22.08\00:15:25.09 They taught us the history of Christianity, 00:15:29.32\00:15:31.59 how the Waldensians says and other stuff, 00:15:31.59\00:15:33.26 how our church fathers 00:15:33.26\00:15:36.26 and other pioneers get persecuted 00:15:36.26\00:15:37.60 and because of persecuted how the gospel has spread. 00:15:37.60\00:15:40.27 And also how our Adventist formed 00:15:40.27\00:15:43.67 after the 1844 disappointment and other thing. 00:15:43.67\00:15:46.57 And on top of that, we were taught with four series 00:15:47.84\00:15:49.98 of book like "Experience the Way," 00:15:49.98\00:15:52.35 "Share the Way," and "Find the Way." 00:15:52.35\00:15:53.55 Then that book has really impact 00:15:53.55\00:15:56.38 on us how to give Bible study 00:15:56.38\00:15:58.05 and I think that is one of the best book. 00:15:58.05\00:16:00.19 And also they taught us about how the NEWSTART works, 00:16:00.19\00:16:05.23 they call this this the 8 doctors 00:16:06.23\00:16:07.30 and how these things can be implemented 00:16:07.30\00:16:08.00 in any kind of disease 00:16:08.00\00:16:10.07 and any kind of lifestyle to be changed. 00:16:10.07\00:16:11.43 Also, they taught us how to reverse lifestyle diseases 00:16:11.43\00:16:14.77 like diabetes, hypertension, 00:16:14.77\00:16:17.54 and things that caused by our lifestyle, 00:16:17.54\00:16:20.01 how to reverse it in a very natural way. 00:16:20.01\00:16:22.21 And also we were taught to do massage 00:16:22.21\00:16:25.41 and I think that is one thing 00:16:25.41\00:16:26.82 that I love the most to be a dummy. 00:16:26.82\00:16:29.88 I've been a dummy for a while, so that's one thing. 00:16:29.88\00:16:32.49 (gentle music) 00:16:32.49\00:16:35.12 (speaking foreign language) 00:16:36.29\00:16:40.03 There was a guy who come to me who has a fatty liver. 00:16:42.63\00:16:45.93 And then I have studied it, 00:16:45.93\00:16:47.34 but I have never experienced it in a very practical way. 00:16:47.34\00:16:50.64 So I thought, "Okay, this is the time to do 00:16:50.64\00:16:51.81 what I've learned." 00:16:51.81\00:16:52.94 And then, you know, he has a fatty liver 00:16:52.94\00:16:55.61 and it's all a hydrotherapy, it's all water treatment. 00:16:55.61\00:16:57.51 It's just a fermentation that keeps in the liver. 00:16:57.51\00:16:59.81 And we did it for 14 days. 00:16:59.81\00:17:01.58 And you know, the fatty livers, it has went down so much 00:17:01.58\00:17:05.32 and the doctors out there were shocked. 00:17:05.32\00:17:07.12 And in 14 days, "Hey, what did you do?" 00:17:07.12\00:17:09.96 I said, "It's just a water treatment." 00:17:09.96\00:17:11.46 And I was shocked and she was shocked. 00:17:11.46\00:17:12.86 And I think that's how you know God works 00:17:12.86\00:17:15.20 when we do the natural remedies prayerfully. 00:17:15.20\00:17:18.13 That's one thing. 00:17:18.13\00:17:19.70 And also we were taught of how to do few 00:17:19.70\00:17:21.30 of the natural poultices like the charcoal poultices 00:17:21.30\00:17:25.41 and potato poultice and cabbage poultice 00:17:25.41\00:17:26.98 to cure certain diseases. 00:17:26.98\00:17:30.78 And when I was working my internship 00:17:30.78\00:17:33.42 in the Adventist Hospital in Aizawl, 00:17:33.42\00:17:35.92 there was a man who got a big scar in his calf. 00:17:35.92\00:17:39.69 And then there was already a puss inside. 00:17:39.69\00:17:42.62 And then they told me, 00:17:42.62\00:17:44.36 "Is there any way you can do something with the poultices?" 00:17:44.36\00:17:47.83 I said, "I am not sure, 00:17:47.83\00:17:49.46 I've never done this, but they have taught us so I can do." 00:17:49.46\00:17:52.87 So then they asked me, "Is there any side effect on it?" 00:17:54.27\00:17:55.87 But as to what they taught us, there's no side effect in it 00:17:55.87\00:17:58.77 so we can try it. 00:17:58.77\00:17:59.84 So we do the char charcoal poultice 00:17:59.84\00:18:02.54 and then the swelling went down within three days. 00:18:02.54\00:18:05.45 And then, you know, those are the things 00:18:05.45\00:18:07.75 that I've experienced, 00:18:07.75\00:18:09.18 and I think that is what God has given us in a natural way. 00:18:09.18\00:18:10.99 (gentle music) 00:18:12.22\00:18:14.89 - Isn't that cool? - That is really neat. 00:18:22.96\00:18:24.57 - It's like they did the training 00:18:24.57\00:18:26.70 and then right away you got a couple of miracle stories. 00:18:26.70\00:18:29.57 - Yeah, so that's the neat part because their time includes 00:18:29.57\00:18:33.31 an internship- - Yes. 00:18:33.31\00:18:34.88 - Where they're nearby to where they're doing the training 00:18:34.88\00:18:38.38 and they can, you know, have that feedback 00:18:38.38\00:18:40.18 and that assistance from a not too far distance. 00:18:40.18\00:18:43.55 - Right, right. - And if needed, 00:18:43.55\00:18:44.62 the trainers could go 00:18:44.62\00:18:47.02 and help them if they needed to. 00:18:47.02\00:18:48.69 - Yeah, yeah. - So it's just really neat 00:18:48.69\00:18:50.29 to see that. - Yeah, phenomenal program. 00:18:50.29\00:18:53.13 - Inspiring, yeah. - Yeah, very good. 00:18:53.13\00:18:55.06 - And I just wanted to mention the name 00:18:55.06\00:18:56.77 of the project is Life-Changing Stories. 00:18:56.77\00:18:59.37 - Yes. - And so, 00:18:59.37\00:19:00.84 if someone's looking to look at 00:19:00.84\00:19:02.67 for more information on our website, that's the project 00:19:02.67\00:19:06.37 that's doing this training. 00:19:06.37\00:19:07.64 - Correct, yeah, Life-changing Stories. 00:19:07.64\00:19:10.05 And it truly is life-changing. 00:19:10.05\00:19:11.95 - So there's another project 00:19:13.75\00:19:15.12 that's also doing similar training in another country, 00:19:15.12\00:19:17.92 and the project originally started in India. 00:19:17.92\00:19:21.19 So the name of it is Health and Life for India, 00:19:21.19\00:19:23.76 but it's moved to a different country now. 00:19:23.76\00:19:26.03 - Right. - So just ignore the fact 00:19:26.03\00:19:27.66 that it says for India. - Right. 00:19:27.66\00:19:29.20 - It's for other countries as well. 00:19:29.20\00:19:31.47 - Yes, and pray for that lady specifically. 00:19:31.47\00:19:34.17 It's a young lady and they're having problems with drought 00:19:34.17\00:19:37.47 and she's- - They need water. 00:19:37.47\00:19:39.61 And a lot of people were recently sick with typhoid. 00:19:39.61\00:19:44.11 - She got typhoid too. - Yes, yes. 00:19:44.11\00:19:45.58 So they need our prayers for sure. 00:19:45.58\00:19:47.62 - And she's by herself leading the program all by herself, 00:19:47.62\00:19:51.69 but doing a fantastic job. - So keep these people 00:19:51.69\00:19:55.39 in our prayers. - Yes. 00:19:55.39\00:19:56.79 - That's what we do here. 00:19:56.79\00:19:58.16 - Absolutely. - So I wanna go back 00:19:58.16\00:19:59.33 to (indistinct) and his story. 00:19:59.33\00:20:00.66 - Okay. - Because there's 00:20:00.66\00:20:01.40 a little more. - Okay. 00:20:01.40\00:20:03.23 - It's talking about how he's applying 00:20:03.23\00:20:05.53 that now back in his position 00:20:05.53\00:20:08.40 in Manipur. - Very good. 00:20:08.40\00:20:09.94 (bright music) 00:20:11.01\00:20:13.68 - There was a class that says, 00:20:20.38\00:20:22.12 "If you have bitterness in your heart, 00:20:22.12\00:20:24.35 it's like you drinking a poison 00:20:24.35\00:20:25.92 and you expect someone to die." 00:20:25.92\00:20:27.99 And then that really stunned me 00:20:27.99\00:20:29.66 and it makes me think so much. 00:20:31.16\00:20:33.93 And then when the teachers taught us about this, 00:20:33.93\00:20:35.73 I realized that's one thing, 00:20:35.73\00:20:37.40 when we have bitterness in our hearts, 00:20:37.40\00:20:39.60 that doesn't affect the person whom we hate, 00:20:39.60\00:20:41.70 but it's affecting us. 00:20:41.70\00:20:42.97 We drink the poison and then that's how it is. 00:20:44.24\00:20:45.31 But that thing has taught me 00:20:45.31\00:20:47.01 and me personally, I have a lot of bitterness in my heart, 00:20:47.01\00:20:49.88 like of my family background, 00:20:49.88\00:20:51.58 of what they had done to my dad and to our family. 00:20:52.91\00:20:55.12 And once I go there, I've experienced 00:20:56.22\00:20:58.82 and I've learned that forgiveness is the only priority 00:20:58.82\00:21:03.79 and it's the only way that you can lighten your heart. 00:21:05.16\00:21:07.03 And that has taught me, 00:21:07.03\00:21:08.26 and I think that is one of the biggest change 00:21:09.43\00:21:10.57 that has changed me after going down there. 00:21:10.57\00:21:12.43 (bright music) 00:21:13.64\00:21:16.30 Before as a Bible workers when we work, there was a lot 00:21:18.47\00:21:21.58 of people who comes and ask us like, "We have headache, 00:21:21.58\00:21:25.78 we have these things, do you have medicines 00:21:25.78\00:21:28.42 and other stuff?" 00:21:28.42\00:21:29.75 Because they feel like missionaries knows few things. 00:21:29.75\00:21:32.32 That's how everyone thinks 00:21:32.32\00:21:33.69 that we know few things in a very little, but everything, 00:21:35.09\00:21:38.96 that's how they always expect. 00:21:38.96\00:21:40.10 And then for all the answers we doesn't have 00:21:40.10\00:21:41.93 when it comes for their physical need. 00:21:41.93\00:21:43.77 And then that must be one of the platform 00:21:43.77\00:21:46.97 that has really impact me when I finish this, 00:21:46.97\00:21:50.07 my medical missionary training. 00:21:50.07\00:21:51.91 So when it comes for certain cold, cough 00:21:51.91\00:21:55.18 and certain fevers and other stuff, 00:21:55.18\00:21:56.88 I would have the remedy what they have taught us. 00:21:56.88\00:22:00.28 And that is not to be bought, 00:22:00.28\00:22:01.45 but that's whatever is there in their kitchen. 00:22:01.45\00:22:03.92 (gentle music) 00:22:03.92\00:22:06.55 And going down there, I have learned a lot. 00:22:08.62\00:22:12.09 I think that three months of learning 00:22:12.09\00:22:15.50 and experience things there have taught me more 00:22:15.50\00:22:18.30 than I learned the five years of my theology studies. 00:22:18.30\00:22:22.64 Because the mission, the vision, the perspective, 00:22:22.64\00:22:26.81 everything changes when I came there 00:22:26.81\00:22:28.78 because they have taught us how to reach people 00:22:28.78\00:22:31.31 that can be much more practical 00:22:31.31\00:22:32.81 than to be much more theoretical. 00:22:32.81\00:22:35.05 So this medical missionary had equipped me more 00:22:35.05\00:22:39.22 and had taught me who Christ is, 00:22:39.22\00:22:41.89 how I can have a personal relationship with Him more 00:22:41.89\00:22:45.06 so that I can serve him better and I can know him better. 00:22:45.06\00:22:48.30 So once I know him better, I get to work with Him closer. 00:22:48.30\00:22:52.60 So that has taught me a lot. 00:22:52.60\00:22:54.24 (gentle music) 00:22:54.24\00:22:56.81 - Powerful testimony. - Yes, very. 00:23:03.81\00:23:06.38 - So this is something that we really want 00:23:06.38\00:23:08.32 to promote and expand, 00:23:08.32\00:23:10.89 and again, take it into the local languages. 00:23:10.89\00:23:13.02 Right now it's only taught in English, 00:23:13.02\00:23:15.06 we need to have funds to be able to sponsor people like Atui 00:23:15.06\00:23:19.79 to be able to teach it in Manipur to other Bible workers 00:23:19.79\00:23:23.26 so that they can also have the benefit of that teaching. 00:23:23.26\00:23:25.83 - Right. 00:23:25.83\00:23:26.74 So this is where our Bible worker training fund comes in. 00:23:28.14\00:23:29.64 - Yes. - It enables 00:23:29.64\00:23:31.24 Bible worker training 00:23:31.24\00:23:32.24 of any kind. - Yes. 00:23:32.24\00:23:33.81 - And different units request help to sponsor 00:23:33.81\00:23:36.85 for Bible worker training 00:23:36.85\00:23:38.78 'cause the workers many times have to travel, 00:23:38.78\00:23:40.58 have to have food while they're there, 00:23:40.58\00:23:43.12 maybe lodging if there's not room. 00:23:43.12\00:23:45.15 - Yes. - At whatever church 00:23:45.15\00:23:46.25 or section office they're meeting at. 00:23:46.25\00:23:49.16 - Yeah. - And you wanted 00:23:49.16\00:23:50.59 to share some more about our Bible worker training program. 00:23:50.59\00:23:53.36 - The fund is so important 00:23:53.36\00:23:55.20 because one of the reasons 00:23:55.20\00:23:56.70 we struggle getting proper training is just the cost. 00:23:56.70\00:23:58.47 The cost of transportation, the cost of food, 00:23:58.47\00:24:00.44 housing, all that stuff is surprisingly expensive being 00:24:00.44\00:24:03.91 in some of these countries that are relatively poor, 00:24:03.91\00:24:07.18 but it's a hurdle. 00:24:07.18\00:24:10.58 And so having this fund in place, really, 00:24:10.58\00:24:12.15 it not only grows the church numerically, 00:24:12.15\00:24:15.72 but it grows the church qualitatively. 00:24:15.72\00:24:18.52 You know, they have a deeper connection with Christ, 00:24:18.52\00:24:20.62 they have more knowledge about Christ, 00:24:20.62\00:24:21.96 they're more cemented into the truth 00:24:21.96\00:24:24.29 and into the foundation that we hold so dear. 00:24:24.29\00:24:26.49 - And it gives them more tools to work with. 00:24:26.49\00:24:28.73 - Absolutely. - And we have 00:24:28.73\00:24:30.17 a special person coming to join us. 00:24:30.17\00:24:32.93 - Yes, yeah, there's a pastor from Washington State 00:24:32.93\00:24:36.81 that's joining "Jesus for Asia," 00:24:36.81\00:24:38.87 and his focus, his specialty is training. 00:24:38.87\00:24:42.41 And he's developed a training program 00:24:42.41\00:24:44.55 that teaches Bible workers how to be church planters 00:24:44.55\00:24:49.62 and not just how to operate a church, 00:24:50.72\00:24:52.92 but how to teach the members 00:24:52.92\00:24:55.16 how to run the services when the pastor 00:24:55.16\00:24:56.89 or when the Bible workers not there, 00:24:56.89\00:24:58.96 which is so important because... 00:24:58.96\00:25:01.10 I know there's one section in India for instance, 00:25:01.10\00:25:04.93 where they have 80 churches and only like 20 pastors 00:25:04.93\00:25:09.60 and maybe another maybe 15 or 20 Bible workers. 00:25:09.60\00:25:12.51 So there's a lot more churches than there are workers- 00:25:12.51\00:25:17.58 - Right. - To nurture those churches. 00:25:18.58\00:25:19.85 So it's really important to enable the local members 00:25:19.85\00:25:23.79 to do the church services because a lot of times, 00:25:23.79\00:25:26.12 if a Bible worker or a pastor doesn't show up, 00:25:26.12\00:25:28.49 they just don't have church. 00:25:28.49\00:25:29.66 - Yeah, yeah. 00:25:29.66\00:25:31.46 So to enable them to train them and to equip them 00:25:31.46\00:25:36.50 to be a part of God's work locally. 00:25:37.50\00:25:39.67 - Right. 00:25:39.67\00:25:41.24 And we've wanted to provide projectors 00:25:41.24\00:25:42.80 with some of these projectors come with an SD card 00:25:42.80\00:25:46.68 that you can actually run a presentation 00:25:46.68\00:25:48.74 right off of that card. 00:25:48.74\00:25:50.65 So you can have a sermon from a pastor 00:25:50.65\00:25:52.51 and just set it up in a church 00:25:52.51\00:25:54.15 and people gather around and they listen to that. 00:25:54.15\00:25:56.25 But some of our Bible workers don't even know how to, 00:25:56.25\00:25:58.75 we have to have training for how to operate a projector. 00:25:58.75\00:26:02.42 And so the training is such a vital part 00:26:04.43\00:26:06.96 of the whole effectiveness of the work. 00:26:06.96\00:26:09.33 If that training isn't there, then the local units, 00:26:09.33\00:26:12.37 a lot of the local units will, 00:26:12.37\00:26:13.97 when the Bible workers come in every month 00:26:13.97\00:26:16.10 for their paycheck, they'll get a day of training 00:26:16.10\00:26:18.31 or two days of training, 00:26:18.31\00:26:20.01 so the refresher course and keep them going. 00:26:20.01\00:26:23.08 - Yeah, one of the things 00:26:23.08\00:26:24.28 that's most important about the training is 00:26:24.28\00:26:25.71 that they don't have all the tools that we have over here, 00:26:25.71\00:26:28.95 they don't have all the indexes, 00:26:28.95\00:26:30.05 they don't have all the commentaries, 00:26:30.05\00:26:32.29 I mean, we have so many commentaries in English. 00:26:32.29\00:26:34.56 - Right. - So if they can read English, 00:26:34.56\00:26:36.19 then they can get access to commentaries 00:26:36.19\00:26:38.39 and stuff like that. 00:26:38.39\00:26:39.53 But you know, for Ellen White's writings, for... 00:26:39.53\00:26:42.23 - Even for concordance. 00:26:42.23\00:26:44.03 I was surprised when I learned that most of the Bibles 00:26:44.03\00:26:46.43 that they have don't have concordances. 00:26:46.43\00:26:48.60 And so they're thumbing through 00:26:48.60\00:26:50.27 and they can't like go and search for something, 00:26:50.27\00:26:52.71 they have to find it manually. 00:26:52.71\00:26:54.84 - Which is one of the good reasons for these books, 00:26:54.84\00:26:58.31 these story-based Bible study books, 00:26:58.31\00:27:01.12 because it helps them to know where 00:27:01.12\00:27:02.88 to find the different stories and all of that. 00:27:02.88\00:27:07.22 - Right, and even finding the meaning in the story. 00:27:07.22\00:27:09.72 - Yeah. - You know, 00:27:09.72\00:27:11.36 and this is the challenge that we have, 00:27:11.36\00:27:12.73 was getting the spiritual books into the local languages. 00:27:12.73\00:27:15.36 And there's some ministries that are doing a great job 00:27:15.36\00:27:17.33 of that, but there's so many different languages. 00:27:17.33\00:27:21.27 - Right. - We just need 00:27:21.27\00:27:22.10 a lot of prayer for being able 00:27:22.10\00:27:23.47 to supply our Bible workers 00:27:23.47\00:27:25.01 with the tools- - With the tools. 00:27:26.24\00:27:27.38 - And this is what the training can do is 00:27:27.38\00:27:29.51 as they're trained, they're then provided with those tools. 00:27:29.51\00:27:32.61 That's where our Bible worker training fund 00:27:32.61\00:27:35.15 is so valuable. - Yeah. 00:27:35.88\00:27:37.72 And I would like to invite you to pray 00:27:37.72\00:27:39.62 for the Bible workers, 00:27:39.62\00:27:40.72 pray for the Bible worker training programs 00:27:40.72\00:27:42.62 that we've talked about today. 00:27:42.62\00:27:44.03 And if you would like more information about any of them, 00:27:44.03\00:27:46.76 please contact
