Now, Manipur is
currently in a state of war.

- And most of the

that war started.

And thankfully, the
project that we're talking about

is continuing in spite of war,

in spite of a huge
number of challenges

that they're
having because of the war.

this school is saving lives

because if the
school wasn't running,

a lot of these little
kids would be conscripted

into fighting, carrying
guns and going into the war.

As it is, the parents
are having a really hard time

providing the
funds to feed these kids,

because cost of food is way up

and jobs are
almost impossible to find.

And a lot of the
families in that state right now

are fleeing from their homes.

And the area that the
school is in, thankfully,

is an area of relative peace.

So the war has come
close to this school

but it hasn't
overrun the school.

Praise the Lord for that.

did this school start?

- This school is
over 50 years old.

It started way
back with some elders,

some village elders.

There's three churches,

three Adventist
churches in this village.

And they all got
together and said,

"Hey, we need a
way to train our kids

"to grow up to be believers."

And so they all
rallied together,

pooled their meager
resources and began the school.

So this is a continuation
of their vision then?

- So how did we get
involved in this school?

- Well, we have some
friends that have been coming

to Faith Camp from
the beginning almost.

And I'll never forget Dennis
riding up on his motorcycle

to the first Faith Camp,
which was on a piece of property

out in the middle
of nowhere in Idaho.

And he just got excited.
00:02:35.88\00:02:37.95
And he says that he
paints during the summer

and makes money.

And then in the
winter time he goes out

and does projects in
the foreign mission field.

Been doing a lot of
work in South America

and then he decided
he wanted to go to India.

So over the years,
they just kept doing it,

work in the summer and
go overseas in the winter.

And one year he
came to us and says,

one of the kids that
we've sponsored through college,

actually part
of his high school,

because his parents disowned him

when he became a
Christian, Seventh Adventist.

- Right. He is Nepali.

So he's from Nepal,
from a Buddhist background.

And his parents
had come to Meghalaya,

which is another
state in Northeast India,

to get a job in a
coal field, coal mine.

And so they had been told
that an excellent education

could be gotten at the
local Adventist school.

And so he sent his son there.

His son became Adventist,
so the family was very upset

and basically disowned
him, stopped supporting him.

So Dennis meets this
guy, starts to sponsor him,

gets him through the
rest of his schooling

and then on a
vacation or a trip Pasang,

the current
principal of the school

went to visit the school

and he saw, "Wow,
there's a school here

"that's doing a great job,

"but they're in
such desperate need.

"I think I'll stay
and take up the burden

"of leading this school."

- And so then Dennis
followed him to that school

and started telling us stories.

"Hey, there's this amazing
school up in the mountains.

"We went there to paint
and this is what they're doing,

broken and rusting and

it was very, very sad
shape, but it was what they had

and they were using it to
the fullest potential possible.

from like Catholic schools

buses taking their kids there.

And so our Adventist
school was kind of at the point,

whereas if it didn't
grow and have some influx,

then it would probably be,
well it should be closed down.

And I argued with my mind,

my thoughts saying,

"Well, I don't
need it, I have this."

So I brought the Bible.

So as we were traveling
and finally got into Nagaland,

So I saw there's
one young man come up.

So I said, "Well, sit
down and tell me your story."

And he told me he came
from a Buddhist family,

and he just got baptized

in the Seventh
Day Adventist Church.

And I say, "Well,
you need anything?"

He says, "Yes, I do."

- And he said, "I need a
Bible with study helps in it."

- And I said, "Well, once
we go to the next ministry,

"I'll get one and send it."

And all of a sudden, pooh!

I realized I brought it.

And so I went into
the room, I picked it up,

gave it to him,
tears in his eyes,

it was exactly what he wanted.

So we look at that
as a divine appointment.

like our son over the years

Lord has prepared him

and didn't bring the Bible,
