(uplifting music) 00:00:00.66\00:00:02.76 - [Natalie] Hello and welcome to Jesus For Asia Now. 00:00:21.62\00:00:24.82 I'm Natalie Wood 00:00:24.82\00:00:26.05 and my husband John is here with me today. 00:00:26.05\00:00:28.12 We are going on Part 2 00:00:28.12\00:00:30.13 of our inspiring journey 00:00:30.13\00:00:32.03 with publishing in Cambodia. 00:00:32.03\00:00:34.23 Hello, love. 00:00:34.23\00:00:35.06 - [John] Hi, darling, 00:00:35.06\00:00:35.90 how are you? 00:00:35.90\00:00:36.87 - [Natalie] I'm doing well. 00:00:36.87\00:00:37.70 - [John] Awesome. 00:00:37.70\00:00:38.67 - [Natalie] I'm looking forward 00:00:38.67\00:00:39.93 to the rest of the Rogers' journey. 00:00:39.93\00:00:41.17 - [John] That's exciting, isn't it? 00:00:41.17\00:00:42.00 To see God moving, 00:00:42.00\00:00:43.30 like He does such evident miracles. 00:00:43.30\00:00:45.57 - [John] Right. 00:00:45.57\00:00:46.41 Can you fill us 00:00:46.41\00:00:47.64 in a little bit what people might have missed 00:00:47.64\00:00:48.91 if they didn't see the previous episode? 00:00:48.91\00:00:50.65 - [John] Sure. 00:00:50.65\00:00:51.61 In the previous episode, Part 1, 00:00:51.61\00:00:53.11 we learned about the Rogers who were inspired 00:00:53.11\00:00:55.38 by the desperate need for literature in Southeast Asia 00:00:55.38\00:00:59.05 and how they had decided to go over to Cambodia. 00:00:59.05\00:01:02.49 Originally, they were going to go to Thailand, 00:01:02.49\00:01:03.86 but they ended up in Cambodia, 00:01:03.86\00:01:05.63 and how property was provided for them. 00:01:05.63\00:01:08.70 And they had to like clean out a house, 00:01:08.70\00:01:11.43 and then they had to order equipment, 00:01:11.43\00:01:13.27 and they were unsure about how it was gonna go. 00:01:13.27\00:01:15.67 But during a faith camp, 00:01:15.67\00:01:17.27 they were able to connect 00:01:17.27\00:01:18.61 with the audience over Zoom 00:01:18.61\00:01:21.21 and said that they either had the $50,000 package 00:01:21.21\00:01:25.38 that they could get 00:01:25.38\00:01:26.61 or the $150,000 package that would allow them 00:01:26.61\00:01:29.82 to print much more and like book sizes very easily. 00:01:29.82\00:01:33.42 - [Natalie] Right, and much more cost effectively. 00:01:33.42\00:01:35.46 - [John] Yeah. 00:01:35.46\00:01:36.69 And someone donated two to one matching grant 00:01:36.69\00:01:40.10 of $100,000. 00:01:40.10\00:01:41.80 And within a couple days 00:01:41.80\00:01:43.50 of that matching grant coming in, 00:01:43.50\00:01:45.30 they had the other 50,000. 00:01:45.30\00:01:46.80 So they almost immediately had $150,000. 00:01:46.80\00:01:51.37 - [Natalie] Right. 00:01:51.37\00:01:52.61 - [John] So then he went and looked at online 00:01:52.61\00:01:54.94 and found some equipment in Europe 00:01:54.94\00:01:57.98 to purchase some printing equipment. 00:01:57.98\00:02:00.42 But during shipping, 00:02:00.42\00:02:01.72 the sender and the receiver didn't realize 00:02:01.72\00:02:04.89 that there were two ports 00:02:04.89\00:02:06.19 and one port went through vie Vietnam 00:02:07.29\00:02:08.69 and two of the four containers got stuck in Vietnam. 00:02:08.69\00:02:12.03 - [Natalie] Right. 00:02:12.03\00:02:12.86 - [John] And I remember 00:02:12.86\00:02:14.10 when we were talking to him and he says, 00:02:14.10\00:02:15.93 "Well, there's only a couple days left, 00:02:15.93\00:02:17.73 only a few days left until the cutoff deadline is 00:02:17.73\00:02:21.34 and if we don't get the container by then, 00:02:21.34\00:02:23.44 then we just have to start all over, 00:02:23.44\00:02:25.97 look for new equipment." 00:02:25.97\00:02:27.31 And for some reason, 00:02:27.31\00:02:29.34 the very last day of the possibility of it being 00:02:29.34\00:02:33.55 received, it showed up in the dock. 00:02:33.55\00:02:35.02 - [Natalie] Yeah, one of them. 00:02:35.02\00:02:36.82 - [John] One of them, yes. 00:02:36.82\00:02:37.75 - [Natalie] Yes. 00:02:37.75\00:02:39.02 And the other one came through also, 00:02:39.02\00:02:40.66 although there was no cost for one of them 00:02:40.66\00:02:42.62 and nobody knew how it got there. 00:02:42.62\00:02:44.69 And the other one, 00:02:44.69\00:02:45.63 there was a little bit of- 00:02:45.63\00:02:47.20 - [John] There was a $20,000 fee for the second one. 00:02:47.20\00:02:49.50 He didn't know how he was gonna pay for it, 00:02:49.50\00:02:51.23 but for some reason, 00:02:51.23\00:02:52.77 somebody in the middle of the night messaged him and said, 00:02:52.77\00:02:55.54 "I felt impressed to donate $20,000 for shipping." 00:02:55.54\00:02:58.84 - [Natalie] Yeah. 00:02:58.84\00:03:00.28 - [John] And so these are the miracles that we saw 00:03:00.28\00:03:01.71 as the equipment was coming to his place. 00:03:01.71\00:03:03.91 Now, this first video 00:03:03.91\00:03:05.55 that we're gonna show is him talking about, 00:03:05.55\00:03:07.95 "I've got equipment coming, 00:03:07.95\00:03:09.22 where do I put it?" 00:03:09.22\00:03:10.49 - [Natalie] Right. 00:03:10.49\00:03:11.32 So let's watch that now. 00:03:11.32\00:03:12.52 - [John] Okay. 00:03:12.52\00:03:13.92 (gentle music) 00:03:13.92\00:03:16.56 - I had the equipment ordered and coming. 00:03:22.33\00:03:25.27 So now you have to have a place for the equipment. 00:03:25.27\00:03:28.57 And so I started looking at building it 00:03:28.57\00:03:31.94 and how big to build it and how to build it. 00:03:31.94\00:03:35.14 Here, they don't use wood. 00:03:35.14\00:03:37.28 They do for some houses 00:03:37.28\00:03:38.81 but most of what's done is either concrete or metal. 00:03:38.81\00:03:42.62 So I ended up going the route of a metal building. 00:03:42.62\00:03:47.69 The metal siding is actually a sandwich panel. 00:03:48.99\00:03:51.23 So that means that there's a metal sheet on the inside, 00:03:51.23\00:03:54.60 about four inches of insulation 00:03:54.60\00:03:57.47 and then a metal sheet on the outside. 00:03:57.47\00:03:59.40 And that's the siding in the walls and the roof. 00:03:59.40\00:04:03.71 The building is 12 meters by 18 meters. 00:04:03.71\00:04:08.78 It's big enough for the equipment that I wanted 00:04:11.41\00:04:14.52 with a little bit of room to grow, 00:04:14.52\00:04:16.65 as well as room to store books 00:04:16.65\00:04:20.12 'cause that's actually one of the needs, too, 00:04:20.12\00:04:21.59 is most of the missions don't have room to store books. 00:04:21.59\00:04:26.33 Just a brief look at the equipment 00:04:29.53\00:04:32.30 I have the three commercial size printers. 00:04:32.30\00:04:36.00 And I can actually have it 00:04:36.00\00:04:38.01 so that it prints all the different pages for a book, 00:04:38.01\00:04:40.41 not just like one page of just one kind. 00:04:40.41\00:04:44.91 So once I print a book block off of the printers, 00:04:44.91\00:04:49.15 usually you'd print two of them on a sheet 00:04:49.15\00:04:51.35 since it's a a half sheet, 00:04:51.35\00:04:53.66 so that would go to a paper cutter 00:04:53.66\00:04:56.12 which I have a large guillotine cutter 00:04:56.12\00:04:58.76 and you would trim it in half. 00:04:58.76\00:05:01.10 And then from there, 00:05:01.10\00:05:02.33 it would go to the perfect binder. 00:05:02.33\00:05:04.33 And you'd put it in the machine, 00:05:04.33\00:05:06.07 which clamps it, 00:05:06.07\00:05:07.54 puts glue on it, 00:05:07.54\00:05:09.30 and then takes the cover that you've printed, 00:05:09.30\00:05:11.81 and we'll laminate those covers. 00:05:11.81\00:05:13.98 And those come in, get scored, 00:05:13.98\00:05:16.44 glued together. 00:05:16.44\00:05:18.21 And then you have your book, 00:05:18.21\00:05:19.91 but it's not trimmed. 00:05:19.91\00:05:21.15 So you actually then need to trim the top, 00:05:21.15\00:05:23.02 the front and the bottom. 00:05:23.02\00:05:24.65 And for that, 00:05:24.65\00:05:25.89 we actually have a three knife trim 00:05:25.89\00:05:27.79 that has three blades for cutting books. 00:05:27.79\00:05:30.63 So you run it through that machine 00:05:30.63\00:05:32.79 and then that will go into a shrink wrapper 00:05:32.79\00:05:35.93 that will wrap it. 00:05:35.93\00:05:38.10 But if you had like a booklet, 00:05:38.10\00:05:39.57 it would come off the printer, 00:05:39.57\00:05:41.87 and then it would've to be folded. 00:05:41.87\00:05:44.07 So we have a paper folder 00:05:44.07\00:05:45.54 that can fold it down into eight-page signature. 00:05:45.54\00:05:49.41 So then you take those 00:05:49.41\00:05:51.21 and you can put those onto the machine 00:05:51.21\00:05:53.48 that I have for saddle stitching, 00:05:53.48\00:05:55.72 and it will staple them. 00:05:55.72\00:05:57.55 And then those need to be trimmed as well 00:05:57.55\00:05:59.52 through the three knife trim. 00:05:59.52\00:06:01.02 With these current printers, 00:06:04.39\00:06:06.63 with kind of rough estimates, 00:06:06.63\00:06:09.66 having two machines constantly working 00:06:09.66\00:06:12.17 on printing the books, 00:06:12.17\00:06:14.20 we could produce about 500 books a day. 00:06:14.20\00:06:19.27 And as it's printing, 00:06:19.94\00:06:21.41 you can then actually start the other processes. 00:06:21.41\00:06:24.61 So from the beginning 00:06:24.61\00:06:27.22 to the end of, say, 00:06:27.22\00:06:29.08 printing like 5,000 books, 00:06:29.08\00:06:31.52 it'll take probably about three weeks. 00:06:31.52\00:06:33.82 And that's for a normal like 120-page book. 00:06:33.82\00:06:38.33 But as that's going through, 00:06:38.33\00:06:39.96 you can start another project coming through behind it. 00:06:39.96\00:06:43.10 - [Natalie] It's so nice 00:06:49.67\00:06:50.87 that he's got all of the pieces of equipment 00:06:50.87\00:06:52.77 for each stage of the printing. 00:06:52.77\00:06:55.54 - [John] Yeah. 00:06:55.54\00:06:56.48 - And that as one set finishes 00:06:56.48\00:06:58.61 he can start the next set going behind it. 00:06:58.61\00:07:01.12 So it's not like one has to go 00:07:01.12\00:07:03.22 all the way through the process 00:07:03.22\00:07:04.75 and then the next one can go all the way 00:07:04.75\00:07:06.42 through the process. 00:07:06.42\00:07:07.66 That helps to save a lot of time. 00:07:07.66\00:07:09.09 - [John] 500 books a day. 00:07:09.09\00:07:10.49 That's amazing. 00:07:11.33\00:07:12.79 - [Natalie] That's beautiful. 00:07:12.79\00:07:14.03 It's wonderful. 00:07:14.03\00:07:15.03 - [John] Yeah. 00:07:15.03\00:07:15.96 - [Natalie] We're gonna see 00:07:15.96\00:07:17.47 in the next video how God started preparing his heart 00:07:17.47\00:07:20.00 to do this work. - Okay. 00:07:20.00\00:07:21.60 - The story that Jesus told of the man 00:07:27.71\00:07:31.98 who went to get bread at midnight 00:07:31.98\00:07:35.42 from his neighbor has meant a lot to me 00:07:35.42\00:07:39.22 and has actually been the story 00:07:39.22\00:07:41.46 that I hold as really the one that is my role 00:07:41.46\00:07:46.53 because I don't have bread. 00:07:47.30\00:07:48.40 And as you think about it, 00:07:49.43\00:07:50.93 I didn't have the money to buy the equipment to make bread. 00:07:50.93\00:07:54.67 And bread is the word of God. 00:07:54.67\00:07:56.27 So I didn't have money to buy it. 00:07:57.14\00:07:58.61 I don't even have the skill to translate it. 00:07:58.61\00:08:01.38 So in some ways, 00:08:01.38\00:08:02.61 to acquire this bread to give it, 00:08:02.61\00:08:04.65 I have to go ask of my neighbor. 00:08:05.45\00:08:08.65 And as you consider, 00:08:08.65\00:08:11.49 the one who journeyed 00:08:11.49\00:08:12.92 and came to him came on a long trip. 00:08:12.92\00:08:15.59 And if he had had sufficient bread all along his journey, 00:08:16.99\00:08:21.36 he wouldn't need bread at midnight. 00:08:22.46\00:08:24.87 He could wait till breakfast. 00:08:24.87\00:08:27.64 And as we talk about Christ coming, 00:08:27.64\00:08:32.47 we talk about it being a morning, 00:08:32.47\00:08:35.54 and that currently, 00:08:35.54\00:08:36.48 the world is engrossed darkness, 00:08:36.48\00:08:39.85 it's midnight. 00:08:39.85\00:08:41.35 And we're looking forward to that glorious morning 00:08:41.35\00:08:43.72 when Christ comes. 00:08:43.72\00:08:45.22 And breakfast is that meal that we have with Him. 00:08:45.22\00:08:49.09 But as you think about the people here in Southeast Asia 00:08:49.09\00:08:53.83 and you think back in their history, 00:08:54.93\00:08:57.37 they haven't had sufficient, 00:08:57.37\00:08:59.43 they haven't had all of the resources, 00:08:59.43\00:09:03.51 the literature that the US has had, 00:09:03.51\00:09:06.31 that Europe has had. 00:09:06.31\00:09:07.71 And so to say, 00:09:07.71\00:09:08.81 "Oh, just wait until later," 00:09:08.81\00:09:12.35 they're gonna perish 00:09:12.35\00:09:13.42 because I need bread now. 00:09:14.32\00:09:15.75 And in this parable, 00:09:16.72\00:09:17.69 that's the point. 00:09:17.69\00:09:18.52 The point is, 00:09:18.52\00:09:19.75 the bread is needed at this late hour. 00:09:19.75\00:09:22.99 It's not needed later, 00:09:22.99\00:09:24.23 it's needed at midnight. 00:09:24.23\00:09:26.03 And so he goes and he asks for three loaves of bread, 00:09:27.56\00:09:31.13 but the friend doesn't get up right away. 00:09:31.13\00:09:36.20 He says that he's in bed already 00:09:37.01\00:09:39.11 and that he's not going to get up, 00:09:39.11\00:09:41.58 but the friend keeps asking. 00:09:42.38\00:09:43.88 And in some way, 00:09:44.98\00:09:45.91 that's the point of this story 00:09:45.91\00:09:48.18 for me is that God wants me to keep asking 00:09:48.18\00:09:53.25 because in this story, 00:09:53.92\00:09:55.09 it says that at his opportunity 00:09:55.09\00:09:57.79 or at the fact that he was continuing to ask the friend, 00:09:57.79\00:10:02.60 the neighbor gets up. 00:10:02.60\00:10:04.47 But in this case, 00:10:05.70\00:10:06.97 if the friend had no care, 00:10:06.97\00:10:10.51 he would've given him only three loves. 00:10:11.57\00:10:14.38 But the friend gets up 00:10:14.38\00:10:16.11 and the Bible says that he gave him all that was needed, 00:10:16.11\00:10:20.98 so it's more than three loves. 00:10:20.98\00:10:22.65 And as you think about that, 00:10:23.45\00:10:25.19 Christ is moved with compassion. 00:10:25.99\00:10:29.46 And He doesn't give just what's asked for, 00:10:29.46\00:10:32.59 He gives all that's needed. 00:10:32.59\00:10:34.63 And I've also thought about this, 00:10:34.63\00:10:36.33 the guy's asking for three loves of bread. 00:10:36.33\00:10:38.93 He doesn't ask, "Give three loves of bread 00:10:38.93\00:10:42.44 so that we can eat." 00:10:42.44\00:10:44.51 He says, "Give three loves of bread 00:10:44.51\00:10:46.88 for the one that journeyed." 00:10:46.88\00:10:48.91 When I print a book in Khmer, 00:10:48.91\00:10:50.98 it's not for me. 00:10:50.98\00:10:52.08 I can't read it. 00:10:52.08\00:10:53.25 If I print a book in Thai, 00:10:53.25\00:10:55.02 I still can't read it. 00:10:55.02\00:10:56.05 The bread isn't for me. 00:10:56.05\00:10:57.62 The bread is for these people here. 00:10:57.62\00:10:59.35 So God finishes this story. 00:11:02.32\00:11:04.83 He doesn't leave it hanging. 00:11:04.83\00:11:07.00 He leaves it satisfied 00:11:07.00\00:11:10.03 that He will arise and give them. 00:11:10.03\00:11:13.70 And that's His words. 00:11:13.70\00:11:14.77 It's His story. 00:11:14.77\00:11:15.94 And I want to see that 00:11:16.91\00:11:18.14 for the people here in Southeast Asia. 00:11:18.14\00:11:20.21 - [John] That's beautiful. 00:11:23.61\00:11:25.65 The Bible really comes alive 00:11:25.65\00:11:27.02 when you go into the mission field 00:11:27.02\00:11:29.18 and you start doing what Christ was doing 00:11:29.18\00:11:31.15 and reaching the lost. 00:11:31.15\00:11:32.39 - [Natalie] Just you have 00:11:32.39\00:11:33.66 to think about the tool that that is. 00:11:33.66\00:11:36.32 the opportunity that that is the blessing that that is. 00:11:36.32\00:11:39.79 - [John] Mm-hmm. 00:11:39.79\00:11:41.13 A lot of times, 00:11:41.13\00:11:42.10 we talk about finishing the work 00:11:42.10\00:11:44.70 and that God will finish the work 00:11:44.70\00:11:46.80 whether we are part of it or not. 00:11:46.80\00:11:48.90 And I think about that a lot. 00:11:48.90\00:11:50.91 It's like, okay, well, 00:11:50.91\00:11:52.14 if we don't engage with His work, 00:11:52.14\00:11:55.11 He will find a way to finish the work. 00:11:55.11\00:11:58.25 But what about the people today 00:11:58.25\00:12:01.28 that are dying without the gospel? 00:12:01.28\00:12:03.28 What about them? 00:12:03.28\00:12:04.75 If we don't do our part, 00:12:04.75\00:12:06.25 some of them will not have the opportunity 00:12:06.25\00:12:10.33 and they'll never have the opportunity. 00:12:10.33\00:12:12.73 And so that just gives such an urgency 00:12:12.73\00:12:15.00 to the gospel commission. 00:12:15.00\00:12:17.13 There's not a lot of time left, 00:12:17.13\00:12:18.63 but also there's not a lot of time left. 00:12:18.63\00:12:20.67 Not, there's not a lot of time left 00:12:20.67\00:12:22.07 until the second coming. 00:12:22.07\00:12:23.57 But there's not a lot of time left, 00:12:23.57\00:12:25.57 let's say, for someone that's gonna die next week 00:12:25.57\00:12:29.78 that has never heard the name of Jesus, 00:12:30.88\00:12:33.28 not just has heard it and decided against Him, 00:12:33.28\00:12:36.35 but has just never had the opportunity 00:12:36.35\00:12:38.05 to hear the name of much less His story. 00:12:38.05\00:12:40.89 And so that's what gives us that sense of urgency, 00:12:40.89\00:12:43.59 is we're not doing this just for a program. 00:12:43.59\00:12:46.96 We're not just trying to have a good outreach program. 00:12:46.96\00:12:50.77 This is saving lives 00:12:50.77\00:12:52.73 for eternity. - For eternity. 00:12:52.73\00:12:54.27 - [Natalie] And it's more than we have this equipment now. 00:12:54.27\00:12:57.81 It's what's gonna be printed there. 00:12:57.81\00:13:00.18 So we have a video about that. 00:13:00.18\00:13:01.54 - [John] Okay. 00:13:01.54\00:13:02.44 - So as I look at the goals 00:13:09.15\00:13:11.65 of providing bread for Asia, 00:13:11.65\00:13:14.39 it goes into many different areas. 00:13:14.39\00:13:16.56 One that we all think of, 00:13:16.56\00:13:18.59 first of all, 00:13:18.59\00:13:19.53 is like Ellen White's writings. 00:13:19.53\00:13:21.56 What's happening with her writings? 00:13:21.56\00:13:23.23 Can they read them? 00:13:23.23\00:13:24.33 Do they have them? 00:13:24.33\00:13:25.93 And so in that area, 00:13:25.93\00:13:27.57 several of the countries have some of the books, 00:13:28.70\00:13:31.41 but even though they have some of the books, 00:13:33.01\00:13:35.31 the books are not readily available to them. 00:13:35.31\00:13:37.91 So the goal is to make sure that some of these books 00:13:37.91\00:13:41.38 that they already have are readily available 00:13:41.38\00:13:44.42 as well as in translating more of them. 00:13:44.42\00:13:46.45 But then it goes into other areas. 00:13:50.56\00:13:52.59 Like for myself, 00:13:52.59\00:13:54.20 I grew up on mission stories. 00:13:54.20\00:13:57.43 I heard about Eric Behr 00:13:57.43\00:13:59.37 and read stories about different missionaries 00:13:59.37\00:14:03.14 like Hudson Taylor. 00:14:03.14\00:14:04.51 and then, of course, 00:14:04.51\00:14:06.81 the more children's mission story books 00:14:06.81\00:14:09.31 like that Norma Youngberg did 00:14:09.31\00:14:11.45 of "Nyla and the White Crocodile" 00:14:11.45\00:14:13.18 and "Taught by a Tiger" 00:14:13.18\00:14:15.02 where it shows the thinking process 00:14:15.02\00:14:17.82 and the struggle of those that are here 00:14:17.82\00:14:20.86 and how to accept Christ. 00:14:20.86\00:14:22.59 So it's not just story books. 00:14:22.59\00:14:25.13 It's story books that inspire them to be missionaries, 00:14:25.13\00:14:28.76 story books that teach them 00:14:28.76\00:14:31.63 about what it is to give your heart to God, 00:14:31.63\00:14:34.90 story books that show the importance of the Sabbath. 00:14:34.90\00:14:38.17 That's something that people here struggle with. 00:14:38.17\00:14:40.64 And so having the encouragement of stories 00:14:41.68\00:14:44.88 of other people that have struggled through that 00:14:44.88\00:14:47.32 and how God has worked, 00:14:47.32\00:14:48.88 not necessarily to make it it all peaceful, 00:14:49.95\00:14:52.72 but has worked 00:14:52.72\00:14:53.99 through the difficulties will help give them hope 00:14:53.99\00:14:58.06 to hold on. 00:14:58.06\00:14:58.96 One of the other areas 00:15:02.36\00:15:03.80 that is not as readily available is Bible studies. 00:15:03.80\00:15:08.77 I mean, the US, 00:15:09.30\00:15:10.24 we think of, oh, Bible studies, 00:15:10.24\00:15:11.11 we'll just go to the ABC 00:15:11.11\00:15:12.31 and choose one of the 10 that are there. 00:15:12.31\00:15:15.58 And that's the one you're going to go study. 00:15:15.58\00:15:18.35 Here, there may be only one. 00:15:18.35\00:15:21.25 And is there really a copy 00:15:21.25\00:15:23.35 that's actually in stock that you can have? 00:15:23.35\00:15:26.29 Not really. 00:15:26.29\00:15:27.22 I mean, the states, 00:15:27.22\00:15:28.49 we have Bible studies focused for children, 00:15:28.49\00:15:29.89 we have Bible studies focused on prophecy, 00:15:29.89\00:15:31.76 we have bible studies that are geared 00:15:31.76\00:15:33.96 for group discussions. 00:15:33.96\00:15:35.46 I'd like to see that here, too. 00:15:36.43\00:15:38.03 Schools need curriculum. 00:15:41.44\00:15:44.74 They need workbooks, 00:15:44.74\00:15:46.11 they need textbooks. 00:15:46.11\00:15:47.58 And most of them are just done in black and white. 00:15:48.94\00:15:51.68 So you get a color science book, 00:15:51.68\00:15:54.75 and they go and they make a copy of it 00:15:54.75\00:15:56.58 in black and white. 00:15:56.58\00:15:57.99 So having something that is good 00:15:57.99\00:16:01.32 and presents the subjects in color if needed, 00:16:01.32\00:16:05.83 I think that would be helpful to the schools here. 00:16:05.83\00:16:08.36 My focus is Southeast Asia, 00:16:11.70\00:16:14.47 so that includes Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, 00:16:14.47\00:16:19.31 those ones primarily. 00:16:21.14\00:16:22.74 And it's not just that God provides books 00:16:22.74\00:16:26.08 in those languages, 00:16:26.08\00:16:28.05 but that He actually provides the freedom for those books 00:16:28.05\00:16:32.62 to go into those countries, 00:16:32.62\00:16:34.72 that He provides the people 00:16:34.72\00:16:36.22 that will help distribute the books in those countries. 00:16:36.22\00:16:39.59 And so I believe that as God has led this far 00:16:39.59\00:16:43.60 that He will continue to lead and open the doors 00:16:43.60\00:16:47.40 for the books to actually get into the people's hands. 00:16:47.40\00:16:50.91 And then once the book's there, 00:16:50.91\00:16:52.77 God's not done 00:16:52.77\00:16:54.28 because spiritual things are spiritually discerned, 00:16:54.28\00:16:56.31 which means God needs to work upon their hearts 00:16:56.31\00:16:59.81 and as they read it, 00:16:59.81\00:17:01.28 that they will understand it and accept it. 00:17:01.28\00:17:03.59 - [John] And that's where people in the Western world 00:17:10.69\00:17:13.90 already established believers can really enter 00:17:13.90\00:17:16.10 into his work, 00:17:16.10\00:17:17.83 into the Rogers' work is through prayer 00:17:17.83\00:17:21.90 because all those things that he's trying 00:17:21.90\00:17:23.54 to do is a spiritual thing. 00:17:23.54\00:17:25.57 And prayer is a big part of opening up the doors 00:17:25.57\00:17:30.08 for the gospel to go forward. 00:17:30.08\00:17:31.88 And he can do the physical printing, 00:17:31.88\00:17:34.05 and the distribution is a big challenge. 00:17:34.05\00:17:38.69 There's not a large team of literature evangelists 00:17:38.69\00:17:42.39 in all the different countries that he's talking about. 00:17:42.39\00:17:44.99 So there's not a really well-developed distribution 00:17:44.99\00:17:48.13 network. So we might end up with 2,000 books sitting 00:17:48.13\00:17:51.40 in a warehouse for five years. 00:17:51.40\00:17:53.10 We don't want that, 00:17:53.10\00:17:54.37 especially when we can print 500 books a day. 00:17:54.37\00:17:56.91 - [Natalie] Right. 00:17:56.91\00:17:57.74 - [John] So developing 00:17:57.74\00:17:59.27 that distribution network is a a really vital need. 00:17:59.27\00:18:03.61 And if anybody knows of somebody 00:18:05.28\00:18:07.45 that's really into that kind of thing 00:18:07.45\00:18:09.08 and can help develop that kind of network, 00:18:09.08\00:18:11.32 that door is open. 00:18:11.32\00:18:12.95 And what's beautiful about doing that kind of work 00:18:12.95\00:18:15.49 in area like that is that right now, 00:18:15.49\00:18:18.53 almost nothing's being done. 00:18:18.53\00:18:20.33 So if somebody comes in and does something, 00:18:20.33\00:18:22.50 that's something in place of nothing. 00:18:23.60\00:18:28.34 - [Natalie] Right. 00:18:28.34\00:18:29.70 In the next video that we're gonna watch, 00:18:29.70\00:18:31.54 Kenton and Rachel both share some of the challenges 00:18:31.54\00:18:34.78 and some of the blessings 00:18:34.78\00:18:36.18 that they're experiencing in Cambodia. 00:18:36.18\00:18:38.85 - Thank you. 00:18:38.85\00:18:40.32 (gentle music) 00:18:40.32\00:18:42.95 - The most difficult thing 00:18:48.42\00:18:49.89 that we've had to deal with is talking with people. 00:18:49.89\00:18:54.60 Even if they speak just a little bit of English, 00:18:54.60\00:18:56.73 it's still not enough to convey ideas 00:18:56.73\00:19:01.10 and really to converse 00:19:01.10\00:19:04.44 because our Khmer is very small, too. 00:19:04.44\00:19:06.21 So it's like putting language 00:19:06.21\00:19:10.38 through a very small straw. 00:19:10.38\00:19:12.48 - I didn't think culture shock would bother me. 00:19:17.99\00:19:20.66 And for a while, 00:19:20.66\00:19:21.59 I don't think it really did. 00:19:21.59\00:19:23.99 But when things compound on each other, 00:19:23.99\00:19:27.13 you have the uncertainty. 00:19:27.13\00:19:28.30 You don't know what's gonna happen next, 00:19:28.30\00:19:29.86 and you're waiting, 00:19:29.86\00:19:31.10 and you're stuck in an apartment. 00:19:31.10\00:19:33.37 All of these things pile up, 00:19:33.37\00:19:35.30 then little things start to irritate you. 00:19:35.30\00:19:37.41 And I did feel some stress at that point. 00:19:37.41\00:19:39.81 For my children coming to Asia, 00:19:42.24\00:19:44.41 I don't think there was near as much culture shock, 00:19:44.41\00:19:47.95 if you wanna say, 00:19:47.95\00:19:48.88 they just took it in stride. 00:19:48.88\00:19:50.29 But I think I've seen two things 00:19:50.29\00:19:53.62 that have been a big blessing for them. 00:19:53.62\00:19:56.59 I would say 00:19:56.59\00:19:57.96 the first one is the environment here is not Christian. 00:19:57.96\00:20:00.90 And although that brings challenge, 00:20:00.90\00:20:03.50 they also realize that they're not here to fit in. 00:20:03.50\00:20:08.57 The second part is interaction with nature 00:20:10.64\00:20:14.24 and people who think differently than they do, 00:20:14.24\00:20:16.95 that they never would've gotten back in the States. 00:20:16.95\00:20:19.38 And it makes them realize 00:20:19.38\00:20:20.62 that America isn't the whole world. 00:20:20.62\00:20:22.72 - There are several areas 00:20:26.65\00:20:28.39 that I've had spiritual growth in. 00:20:28.39\00:20:30.83 As I think about it, 00:20:30.83\00:20:32.03 the primary one would be dependence. 00:20:32.03\00:20:35.03 Oftentimes, I think, "Oh, I can do this 00:20:35.03\00:20:38.10 or I can do that." 00:20:38.10\00:20:39.40 But here, just like with the language difficulty, 00:20:39.40\00:20:43.44 it's not a guarantee that I can go to the store 00:20:43.44\00:20:45.51 and even buy something, 00:20:45.51\00:20:46.84 even the other side of things, too. 00:20:46.84\00:20:48.84 When I do do something 00:20:48.84\00:20:50.88 and then I feel like I did it, 00:20:50.88\00:20:52.55 that feeling of I did it then swells up 00:20:52.55\00:20:54.92 with a little bit of pride 00:20:54.92\00:20:56.95 and that I did this. 00:20:56.95\00:20:59.39 And then realizing, "No, I couldn't do it. 00:20:59.39\00:21:04.36 It's not me, 00:21:04.89\00:21:06.36 it's God that's led this far." 00:21:06.36\00:21:08.46 But then I'm also thankful for the times 00:21:08.46\00:21:11.30 when God asked me to trust Him 00:21:11.30\00:21:14.07 because there's things I can't do at all, 00:21:15.14\00:21:17.37 I can't even help with. 00:21:17.37\00:21:18.67 And so it's like placing those things in His hands 00:21:20.04\00:21:22.41 and saying, "Lord, this ones, 00:21:22.41\00:21:24.21 I don't even know 00:21:24.21\00:21:25.88 if there's anything I can do in this." 00:21:25.88\00:21:28.12 I've seen several times in this whole process 00:21:28.12\00:21:33.19 with relating to government, paperwork, 00:21:34.22\00:21:37.73 and business issues with the government 00:21:37.73\00:21:41.26 that God's worked in that are beyond 00:21:41.26\00:21:44.73 what I could do anything in. 00:21:44.73\00:21:46.70 Then with also like importing the printing equipment. 00:21:46.70\00:21:50.37 Also, there's been things in there 00:21:50.37\00:21:51.71 that I can't make anything happen, 00:21:51.71\00:21:55.91 but God made them happen 00:21:55.91\00:21:57.08 - For me, I think the awareness of the, 00:22:00.45\00:22:03.52 I don't know, 00:22:04.85\00:22:06.29 the darkness of this place compared to America 00:22:06.29\00:22:09.26 and how much Satan thinks this is his territory. 00:22:09.26\00:22:11.83 So you feel sometimes way more the battle 00:22:11.83\00:22:16.87 than you would back home. 00:22:17.67\00:22:19.87 I guess, it keeps you focused, 00:22:19.87\00:22:22.60 it keeps you on your knees. 00:22:22.60\00:22:24.11 If you get lazy, 00:22:25.14\00:22:26.01 all of a sudden, 00:22:26.01\00:22:26.84 there's a big problem. 00:22:26.84\00:22:28.41 You have to be praying for your kids 00:22:28.41\00:22:30.01 and praying for your husband. 00:22:30.01\00:22:31.25 And that's where the daily growing 00:22:31.25\00:22:35.15 and learning is for me right now. 00:22:35.15\00:22:37.85 - So there's been some days 00:22:41.89\00:22:42.92 where, of course, I wake up, 00:22:42.92\00:22:44.16 my list of to-dos is long. 00:22:44.16\00:22:47.00 And they seem like, 00:22:47.00\00:22:50.23 if you wanna say mechanical things, 00:22:50.23\00:22:52.57 like they're tasks that you just go through and you do. 00:22:52.57\00:22:55.77 And there's some days 00:22:55.77\00:22:57.04 when I just start working on them 00:22:57.04\00:22:58.01 and by the end of the day, 00:22:58.01\00:22:59.31 you're exhausted and you're going to bed. 00:22:59.31\00:23:00.78 And I go to bed and lay there 00:23:02.21\00:23:03.91 and realize I think I missed the most important thing. 00:23:03.91\00:23:08.98 God has said that He wants 00:23:09.92\00:23:11.25 to have us place the issue before Him. 00:23:11.25\00:23:14.09 He wants us, 00:23:15.16\00:23:17.23 through prayer, 00:23:17.23\00:23:18.46 to actually become more open for His working. 00:23:18.46\00:23:22.30 Also, He wants us to give Him praise. 00:23:22.30\00:23:25.93 The same praise that I gave Him yesterday is fine. 00:23:25.93\00:23:28.70 He wants to hear that even today 00:23:28.70\00:23:30.37 - Coming here with children, 00:23:33.58\00:23:36.85 of course it's more complicated. 00:23:36.85\00:23:38.35 Traveling with children is more complicated. 00:23:38.35\00:23:40.62 But even if what I do every day is 80% 00:23:41.88\00:23:46.96 what I did back in the States, 00:23:47.76\00:23:49.12 the same household duties 00:23:49.12\00:23:51.26 and teaching the kids and everything, 00:23:51.26\00:23:53.63 I believe coming is worth it. 00:23:54.73\00:23:56.63 - Everything that's needed, 00:23:56.63\00:23:57.87 He's promised to give it, 00:23:57.87\00:23:59.67 the wisdom, the financing, 00:23:59.67\00:24:02.37 the people that you're supposed to connect with. 00:24:02.37\00:24:05.71 He gives all of that, 00:24:05.71\00:24:07.21 and I'm very thankful to that. 00:24:07.21\00:24:09.08 - [John] That's beautiful. 00:24:15.48\00:24:16.45 And it's so neat to see people 00:24:16.45\00:24:17.72 that step out of their comfort zone, 00:24:17.72\00:24:19.49 step out of the known, 00:24:19.49\00:24:21.09 and enter into God's work in a foreign land. 00:24:21.09\00:24:24.69 And they start to see all these insights 00:24:24.69\00:24:27.13 and understandings of the world 00:24:27.13\00:24:28.66 and how God works. 00:24:28.66\00:24:30.10 And I think every church needs a foreign mission field 00:24:30.10\00:24:33.70 because it helps us to prioritize what's really 00:24:33.70\00:24:37.57 important. - [Natalie] Well, they shared 00:24:37.57\00:24:38.77 with us also their greatest need. 00:24:38.77\00:24:41.24 So let's play that now. - Okay. 00:24:41.24\00:24:42.94 - I see myself as a helper. 00:24:49.22\00:24:51.32 I don't see myself as the one who's doing this project. 00:24:51.32\00:24:55.59 This is God's project. 00:24:55.59\00:24:57.46 From when we came here all along, 00:24:57.46\00:25:00.30 He's taking care of us. 00:25:00.30\00:25:02.23 I don't see it as me having to go raise money 00:25:02.23\00:25:05.73 for these things. 00:25:06.53\00:25:08.30 I see it as this is what God needs to provide for this. 00:25:08.30\00:25:13.14 And are there times when I worry about it? 00:25:14.44\00:25:17.08 Yes, there's times when it becomes a burden. 00:25:17.08\00:25:22.15 But at times, 00:25:22.68\00:25:23.92 I may be worrying about one bill or one thing 00:25:23.92\00:25:28.29 when I'm not even able to comprehend all the other things 00:25:28.29\00:25:31.56 that I should be worrying about, too, 00:25:31.56\00:25:33.83 but God knows about those. 00:25:33.83\00:25:35.50 He's working on providing those. 00:25:35.50\00:25:37.53 And so I need to trust Him with all of this. 00:25:37.53\00:25:40.54 Money is not the most important thing. 00:25:47.18\00:25:49.61 There's been times when I've prayed, 00:25:49.61\00:25:50.98 "Lord, don't give me money. 00:25:50.98\00:25:52.81 That's not what I want. 00:25:53.85\00:25:55.42 I don't want You to give me money 00:25:55.42\00:25:57.12 without wisdom to go with it, 00:25:58.09\00:26:00.59 without the answers that I need to go with it." 00:26:00.59\00:26:04.76 Because I've found that money can go very quickly 00:26:04.76\00:26:09.13 and money doesn't always solve the issues. 00:26:09.13\00:26:11.47 And sometimes money can't solve the issue. 00:26:11.47\00:26:14.17 So to have prayers of people 00:26:14.17\00:26:16.47 that God will give the needed answers, 00:26:16.47\00:26:19.71 the needed wisdom is the greatest need. 00:26:19.71\00:26:23.08 But then you have other needs of people to help, 00:26:23.08\00:26:28.15 people to talk to about even like counsel. 00:26:29.18\00:26:32.32 So my biggest need is prayer. 00:26:32.32\00:26:36.36 Second is people, 00:26:36.36\00:26:38.89 people to help, 00:26:38.89\00:26:39.83 people to connect with, both. 00:26:39.83\00:26:41.70 - [John] I think that's profound. 00:26:41.70\00:26:44.00 The biggest need is prayer. 00:26:44.00\00:26:45.97 I have seen some ministries that have a lot of money, 00:26:45.97\00:26:49.50 they don't get anything done. 00:26:49.50\00:26:51.51 And then other ministries with almost no money, 00:26:51.51\00:26:54.44 but a lot of faith, 00:26:54.44\00:26:55.38 independence on God, 00:26:55.38\00:26:56.31 they get a lot of stuff done. 00:26:56.31\00:26:57.85 It's nice to see ministries that have both. 00:26:59.08\00:27:01.18 - [Natalie] Yep. 00:27:01.18\00:27:02.12 - [John] They get tons done. 00:27:02.12\00:27:03.42 - [Natalie] Yep. 00:27:03.42\00:27:04.49 - [John] But the key, 00:27:04.49\00:27:05.99 I think the greatest need obviously is the Holy Spirit 00:27:05.99\00:27:08.36 and the prayers of people 00:27:08.36\00:27:10.49 that lift them up to the Lord 00:27:10.49\00:27:13.06 that has all wisdom 00:27:13.06\00:27:15.23 and can see the end from the beginning. 00:27:15.23\00:27:16.90 - [Natalie] Right. 00:27:16.90\00:27:17.93 And I just also wanna highlight 00:27:17.93\00:27:19.43 that he asked for people, too. 00:27:19.43\00:27:21.44 - [John] Yes. 00:27:21.44\00:27:22.94 - [Natalie] So praying to God for people to help him, 00:27:22.94\00:27:24.94 people to do the translation, 00:27:24.94\00:27:26.68 people to do the other jobs that are needed to be done. 00:27:26.68\00:27:30.61 - [John] Mm-hmm. 00:27:30.61\00:27:32.11 - [Natalie] There is a need for people, godly people. 00:27:32.11\00:27:34.38 people that God chooses to be a part of it. 00:27:34.38\00:27:36.72 - [John] Yeah. 00:27:36.72\00:27:37.65 And technical people, I'm sure, 00:27:37.65\00:27:38.92 to run all that equipment. 00:27:38.92\00:27:40.09 - [Natalie] Yeah. 00:27:40.09\00:27:41.32 - [John] So there's a lot of needs there, 00:27:41.32\00:27:42.79 a lot of opportunities. 00:27:42.79\00:27:43.96 - [Natalie] Right. 00:27:43.96\00:27:45.46 If you would like to be involved in this project, 00:27:45.46\00:27:47.66 please contact us at Jesus for Asia, 00:27:47.66\00:27:50.50 PO Box 1221, 00:27:50.50\00:27:52.33 Collegedale, Tennessee, 37315. 00:27:52.33\00:27:55.90 Call us at (423) 413-7321 00:27:55.90\00:27:59.91 or visit our website at jesus4asia.org. 00:27:59.91\00:28:03.58 May God richly bless you. 00:28:03.58\00:28:04.95 Until we see you next time 00:28:04.95\00:28:06.51 on Jesus For Asia Now 00:28:06.51\00:28:08.02
