- So when God
called us to this ministry,

one of the things he
specifically told me,

like I heard him say it,

was we want to raise funds.

We were just to trust him.

He would do the
fundraising and we were

to invest everything we
had financially into it.

But God had
promised he would provide,

even though He didn't solicit.

And we saw that happening.

And so our faith began to
grow in little increments.

And then as the
projects got bigger,

like building a school,

so we're gonna build
five classrooms out of brick,

and cement, steel,

and we have $4,500.

Impossible.

But this was our
first real first step.

And we get to the point
where we've got the slab down,

we've got the columns
in, and we got the roof on.

And I'm telling my
builder, don't put any walls in.

We haven't got any money.

Well, one day I heard God say,

"Tell the Builder to finish it."

And so, I believed it was God.

I went to the Builder and said,

"I don't know where
the money is coming from,
00:02:33.78\00:02:35.55
but the
instructions are, finish it."

And so he
worked on finishing it.

I had to buy all the
materials and pay the laborers,
00:02:40.59\00:02:42.99
and pay him.

And we finished the building
and we didn't owe any money.

The money just
came in as we needed it.

And so over time,

we got into
bigger projects at the,

one of the orphanage
houses we were building.

We needed to put a
roof on the building.

We had the rest
of the building done,

and the roof
contract and the steel windows

and doors was $8,500.

And I had like $4,500,

so I gave it to the contractor.

I didn't tell him I
didn't have the rest.

The agreement was we'd
pay when he's finished.

And so he took time.

It's like he'd come,
he worked for a few days,

and go away and
do something else.

And like I got no
problem with that.

I had no money.

But the miracle was the day
he finished was the same day,

$6,500 came into our
bank account from Iceland.

And it had taken
it months to get here.

And I didn't know it was coming.

But I went that afternoon,

I paid the builder in full.

And he never knew that
it was only that morning I

had the money to pay him.

And it was just,

that was a very
confirming miracle for me.

The fact that God
waited until the very last day

before he provided
that money to show me,

look, I can do it
and I can do it on time.

ask us the question,

that before you build a

cost?" And that's true.

And if I was doing
that for myself personally,

for my own house,

or I was gonna buy a
car or something like that,

then I very much
believe I should do that.

But if this is God's work,

his foreman on the ground.

do we have enough
money to do this or not.

This is God's problem.

And so we'll just trust
that he will make it happen.

And the evidence that I
have after building a lot

times when he marveled.

he went into that village,

where he marveled
at their lack of faith.

So both times that he
marveled was at people's faith.

So faith is a big deal to Jesus.

It's kind of the
currency of Heaven.

God and not allow things

But in my own thinking,

there's one
thing that scares me.

And that is reflecting
on what would've happened

some 30 years ago when God
first called us to Cambodia,

if we had said no.

Now at that time, Cambodia
was still at war with itself,
00:07:46.73\00:07:50.63
and infrastructure
was pretty much destroyed.
00:07:50.63\00:07:53.80
We had two small children.
00:07:53.80\00:07:55.14
Our youngest was not
even one year of age.
00:07:55.14\00:07:57.84
And so we are
coming into a war zone
00:07:57.84\00:08:00.68
with two little children,
00:08:00.68\00:08:02.41
and it just made
no sense whatsoever.
00:08:02.41\00:08:05.95
When we got here, we
realized, wait a minute,
00:08:10.42\00:08:13.62
we're the only Christians
that we know of in this town.
00:08:13.62\00:08:18.23
And so we've come here
to do agricultural work
00:08:19.33\00:08:22.16
and help the
people grow more rice.
00:08:22.16\00:08:24.23
But God actually sent us here
00:08:24.23\00:08:25.67
for a totally different reason.
00:08:25.67\00:08:27.37
He sent us here so that
the people could know Jesus,
00:08:27.37\00:08:29.97
so we began sharing the gospel,
00:08:29.97\00:08:31.94
and we started a church in
town when we lived in town.
00:08:31.94\00:08:34.18
And then when we moved out here,
00:08:34.18\00:08:35.88
we started another church here.
00:08:35.88\00:08:37.21
And we were training local
people to be church planters.
00:08:37.21\00:08:40.82
And they were going out and
sharing the gospel with people.

And then we started the
orphanage and we saw the impact
00:08:47.16\00:08:49.52
that Christ was having on
the lives of the children.
00:08:49.52\00:08:51.93
And the same with the school.
00:08:51.93\00:08:54.20
And we began to realize that,
00:08:54.20\00:08:58.70
wait a minute,
00:08:58.70\00:09:00.17
if we had said no, when God
first called us to Cambodia,

and there was every
logical reason to say no,

then there would be hundreds,

probably thousands of people
00:09:10.71\00:09:13.38
that would've
never heard the gospel

and never had a chance to
know Jesus as their savior.

And that's a very scary thought,

that it would've been that
easy to say no for good reasons.

And yet it could have
changed the Kingdom of Heaven

in a negative way.

You know, I'll sit
down in a gathering now,

a Christian
gathering, and I'll look around,

not in a proudful way,

if I had said no,

most of the people in this
gathering would just disappear,

because they wouldn't know
Christ and they wouldn't be

here. And so I
wanna encourage you,

if you hear God speaking to you,
00:09:57.59\00:09:59.53
and he has
something for you to do,
00:09:59.53\00:10:01.40
even if it seems
completely crazy,

please seriously think about it.

Because it may be that God
is calling you to something that

is observed in the minds
of people who don't know God.

Jesus has chosen us to
continue making God's love

and his character
known to the world.

And if you decide
to be a missionary,

you have a wonderful
opportunity to do that,

because you may
be the only Christian

that people get to see.

And he could use you just
like He's used our family.

And the Kingdom of

because you said yes to God.

of the education we give
to Cambodian young people.

And to make that possible,
we have depended on volunteers.

And for the last 20 years,
we've had volunteers coming.

Some come for a couple of weeks

and some come for
seven or eight years.

They're all self supporting
and they pay their own airfares,

their own visa costs.

They pay for their own food,

but we provide them
with a place to live,

opportunities to serve Christ.

We do have a
volunteer family from the USA

have volunteers back helping to

we have year 12 graduates

And she told me I used
to go to a Christian Church

when I was in the United States,

so that struck
up a conversation.

And it wasn't long
before I pulled out,

I asked her for her phone,

and opened up to

and started one of the
videos of me preaching a sermon

in Khmer and handed it to her,

expecting this to
be a short interaction.

But for the next 30 minutes,
I sat there watching her,

listening to me,

giving her a Bible study.

And the smile on her
face both during that

and afterwards said,

God is using this to
touch people's lives.

And he's just giving me
a little glimpse into how

concept that was given to us

just loves being in nature.

So I discussed it with God some,

and we had some heated
arguments I think along the way,

and finally he twisted my
arm so that we would do it.

The reason I say
he twisted our my arm,

faith-based ministry.

We trust God for all our funds.

We don't fundraise.

And we are living, at that time,

we're living day by day
on whatever God provides us.

to do this large project.

I sat down and wrote a budget,

and I came up with $350,000,

but it wasn't long before
that had grown up to $400,000.

And it's like,
God, we can't do this.

But the more I argued with God,

that we needed an industry

money for our ministry.

the way God is gonna do it,

But we also saw it as a
possibility of like soft

outreach, introducing

as they see the beauty

It's also a way for giving our
young people work experience.

We opened in 2018
and COVID hit early 2020.

At that time,

we hadn't had a month
where we had broken even.

all tourism stopped in scenery
town for nearly two years.

it was about making him

we've able to keep it open.

Even when we were in a red zone.

But one day I was here
and a couple of younger people

question the lady asked me is,

answer I could and she softened.

question to can I touch them?

secular Jew from Israel,
