Christ, having full tummies.

when we first started
the evening school program,

we didn't start it, obviously
God kind of dragged us into it

way back in 2006.

And we thought,

"Well, this is good
long-term evangelism strategy."

- Right, because the
reason the evening schools exist

is not primarily, I
mean, it is evangelism,

but that's not
the short-term goal.

The short-term goal
is to feed the children,

and for them to learn
what they need to learn

to be effective and
helpful people in their society.

I've thought about
why is that so fun?

And the only
thing I can think of is,

the heavenly father is a father,

a father loves to feed his kids,

and he gets joy out
of seeing them be happy

with his provision, and we
get to be a little part of that.

we've shared it before

but the statistics about
children even being able to

learn, when they're
malnourished it's just shocking.

How few are
actually able to learn

when they don't have
the nutrition they need.

And that's one
of the main things

that we've said with
these evening schools,

whatever else they have
to be able to feed the child.

then give them an opportunity

Well, our first story is
the children have learned

about the power of

- So this is an amazing
story of an amazing church.

Way back in 2007, we first
stumbled across this church.

One of our friends had
come way out into a place

I'd not been
before, ended up here.
00:03:07.05\00:03:09.48
There's this little tiny church,
00:03:09.48\00:03:10.55
is kind of totally isolated.
00:03:10.55\00:03:12.19
There was a canal
between the road and the church
00:03:12.19\00:03:14.22
and the church
members had a hard time
00:03:14.22\00:03:15.86
getting to the church.
00:03:15.86\00:03:16.79
So their main request was,
00:03:16.79\00:03:18.13
"Please, can you put
a little bridge in here,
00:03:18.13\00:03:20.66
"so we could get to
church on Sabbath mornings?"
00:03:20.66\00:03:23.00
Well, from that,
I went back in 2013,
00:03:23.00\00:03:26.77
my family came and we did
an evangelistic series here.
00:03:26.77\00:03:29.44
We had some
baptisms, and then in 2015,
00:03:29.44\00:03:33.07
we identified this place,
00:03:33.07\00:03:34.74
this entire village had
no real access to water.
00:03:34.74\00:03:38.51
They'd have to hike
like five or six kilometers
00:03:38.51\00:03:41.12
to get water for
their families' needs.
00:03:41.12\00:03:44.19
And the Lord
provided, and donors provided
00:03:44.19\00:03:48.72
and we drilled a well
00:03:48.72\00:03:50.19
but we wanted to make it
available for the villagers.
00:03:50.19\00:03:53.40
And so now there's
a well with a tank,
00:03:53.40\00:03:55.66
and a bathroom, and a kitchen.
00:03:55.66\00:03:58.27
And people can come here instead
of walking five kilometers,
00:03:58.27\00:04:01.34
they can just come here
and get water for their family.

And so now they're asking
for an expansion on the kitchen.

The kitchen that we have there,

they want to turn that
into a pastor's apartment,

because they have to
travel a long ways to get here.

So that's a nice room.

evening school going here

for more than 10 years.

So every night kids come,
they learn stuff, they eat,

They're able to grow up strong

answering their prayers.

attending this evening school.

teacher in that school,

she was not feeling well.

She was vomiting blood.

They took her to the hospital.

She came here, she told
the children here to pray

for their teacher, Maragadavali.

So they started praying for her

and God answered the prayer.

Within a week of time,
God answered their prayer.

And now she no more vomits
blood, she's very healthy.

She's our cook,

she's saying that
the teacher to know

that they all prayed

for the teacher.

thanked each of the children

They've been
gathering around and praying

for village people.

One lady that
they prayed for tonight

has not had a child in
three years of marriage.

And so they gathered around
and prayed for this woman.

And I know God's
gonna hear their voice.

Another lady came in,

she just was
diagnosed with kidney failure.

And so they prayed for her.

This church is turning out
some amazing prayer warriors

right here in the center of
heathen India, and it's awesome.

The evening schools they
are not short-term evangelism,

they are long-term evangelism.

And now we are starting to
see the fruit of this school.

There was one school

that was
established before this school,

and our director has
gone to a recent wedding,

and they were
all gathering around.

They're grown up, they're
leaders in their community,

and they were all
remarking among each other,
00:08:43.22\00:08:46.05
how it would
seem like the people

that went to
these evening schools

are now established
in life and doing well,

where most of
their other friends
00:08:52.19\00:08:53.80
that didn't bother to
come to these schools,

they're kind of drunkards
00:08:56.03\00:08:57.23
and haven't really
done anything in life.

And they were just thanking
God, how these evening schools

have been such a blessing.

And so it just gives
us courage to go forward,

of kids in India,

I mean, it's kinda big deal.

doctor and the doctor says,

"I don't know what

- So we need to keep praying

and keep moving
forward in faith,

and finding the local
people that like what we have.

I mean, the evening
school is operational

because we have a
couple that is so dedicated.

And every day, every week,
they go and they buy the food,

and they take it to the schools,

they make sure
everything's running well.

They make sure that the
teachers are doing well,

they do Bible studies,
they teach the songs to the kids

and have them
recite their memory verses.

I mean they just really pour
their hearts and lives into it.

In fact, he was thinking one
time that he was going to quit

and go find a better job.

And she told him, "If you
do that, I'll divorce you."

And he's like, "Whoa okay."

And then later, after
a few years she thought,

"Well, maybe I'll
go get a teaching job

"and make more money."

And he said, "If you
quit, I'll divorce you."

And she's like, "Whoa, okay."

So they're very dedicated.

What's amazing is that
that couple came into the faith

through the evangelistic
series that we did in 2007.

And so it's just
growing and growing

and that's beautiful.

- Yeah, and God is enabling
them to do amazing work.

And he's given them
quite a number of testimonies.

answer to prayer as well.

'cause it was a church.

And we've kind of gravitated
toward putting evening schools

in churches
because of two reasons.

Number one, it's
cheaper, more stable.

And number two, it
brings interest and awareness

to that our churches
are there for people.

They're not there just
to build up an organization,

they're there to serve.

- Right, and so when kids are
not just there for the member

or whatever, they're
there for anybody who has need.

- For the community, absolutely.

And that's why we
like to drill wells there,

That's another way that
we can serve the community

where we came a long time ago,

have an evening school here.

We were gonna build a kitchen

before we opened
the evening school,

but somehow the word
got around in the village,

that we're gonna
have an evening school.

So the night after we left,

the Bible worker
heard a knock on their door,

there's 45 kids saying,

"Where's the evening school."

So they went
ahead and started it,

and they've been
going for over two years.

They had to cook in
the Bible worker's house

which is about a kilometer away.

So they would cook it there.

So now they have a kitchen

and they don't have to

And what I'm really happy about,

Normally, they just cook

So they're not cooking tonight,

that's hauling the food,

continued a little bit longer

but we had to
stop the teaching part,

'cause they would do
two hours of teaching

and then a half
hour for the meal.

And the government had them

reduce the teaching
down to very minimal.

They're still able to sing
and pray and stuff like that,

but the government wanted us
to continue providing the meals

because that
helps the whole family.

a very serious situation,

huge blessing to many people,

and so this has
been a real hardship.

very strict on the lockdown.

And so people have had to
come home from the cities,

jobs in the cities,

there is this one kid

disrespectful to his parents.

Never obeyed, didn't

all he wanted to do
is play video games.

He got terrible grades,
but he just didn't care.

He just was enraptured,
eaten up by video games.

But when COVID happened all
the video game establishments--

- Shut down. -
All completely closed.

- Right, and he
couldn't meet with his friends,

and school was closed,
and he was stuck at home.

- Yeah, so all he could
do, the only thing left,

was go to the evening
school, get some food.

And while he was there,

they have just a little
bit of study and training.

He's like, "If
that's all I can do,

"so I might as well do that."

And what's
happened to that young man?

- Well, his
family is just amazed

because he has turned around.

He is helpful, and he's becoming
more respectful and kind,

and it's just making a
huge difference to his life

getting more studious.

here, and what he's doing,

not gonna go back to that,

real life, and the hope,

and all that kind of stuff,

to keep him a prayer.

The second story that
we have is rather sad.

The father is
abusive, he's a drunkard,

and they have a
son and a daughter.

And the son was
following after his father
00:21:41.36\00:21:43.83
and becoming abusive.

So the mother found herself
trying to protect her daughter

from the abuses

that were just coming
more and more in the family.

- Right, especially now
that she's coming of age.
00:21:53.31\00:21:55.71
- And so the
mother was very afraid

that the father would abuse
the daughter or the son would.

And so she started
taking the daughter

to the evening school.

She actually
told our workers there

that she really didn't
have any reason to live,

except to keep
her daughter safe.

And so she brought her
daughter to the evening school

and she's just so grateful
for that place, safe place,

for her daughter that she's
actually asked our workers there

She said, "I will give
her to you, to keep her safe."

- And so it's like, we're
not sure exactly what we can do,

but we're praying
and our workers there,

she is a beautiful young lady,

her out of abusive situations.

the woman sensed and recognized

that this is a safe place,

researching on that situation

do have one more story.

And that is a little
girl that she's a Hindu girl.

And so in the Hindu
religion, in much of India

there's a lot of jewelry
worn from very small, up.

And she was really
into having the jewelry on,

and everything like that
and then she started going

to our evening school.

And she started
taking the jewelry off.

Once she saw what the
teachers were teaching,

and how the teachers were,

and the people that work
there at the evening school.

And she started taking the
jewelry off of her own accord.

And our workers were a
little bit nervous because,

those can be sign of
disrespect to their parents

or things like that.

could get very upset.

But what they said instead
was that they were so thankful

to see how their daughter
was changing on the inside.

just a beautiful story

we think it makes you

- Somehow it
builds value into you.

But when Christ
comes into your life

you realize he loves
each one of us for who we are.

peace and that helpful attitude

There's a young man,

of our evening schools.

And his mother is so thankful

that that son is
getting an education.

He's becoming more
respectful and kind,

and he's getting fed.

family is extremely poor.

- We were told that
his father was a fisherman.

his own family to eat anymore.

And so they were extremely poor.

And so this evening
school is giving them hope

because it's
feeding the children.

And so the
mother is so thankful--
