Hello and welcome to Jesus for Asia Now. 00:00:21.15\00:00:23.35 I'm Natalie Wood. 00:00:23.35\00:00:24.45 And today, my husband Jon and I get to share with you 00:00:24.45\00:00:27.16 the fulfillment of a request made a number of years ago. 00:00:27.16\00:00:31.39 It is a great privilege to see 00:00:31.39\00:00:33.96 when people see the response to their prayers. 00:00:33.96\00:00:36.53 Welcome to the show, love. 00:00:36.53\00:00:37.77 Hey, darling, it's good to be here. 00:00:37.77\00:00:39.13 Good, here at Jesus for Asia, 00:00:39.13\00:00:40.87 sometimes it's hard for us to define 00:00:40.87\00:00:43.30 who we are and what we do. 00:00:43.30\00:00:44.97 And I know that the Lord gave you an idea recently, 00:00:44.97\00:00:48.11 kind of a way to say our mission statement, 00:00:48.11\00:00:50.25 it seems like that might simplify. 00:00:50.25\00:00:53.05 Yes. 00:00:53.05\00:00:54.05 They encapsulate 'cause we got over 50 projects. 00:00:54.05\00:00:57.39 And so people say, "But yeah, what do you do? 00:00:57.39\00:00:59.55 What is it? What's your mission statement?" 00:00:59.55\00:01:01.32 It's been really hard. 00:01:01.32\00:01:02.69 We've been in the ministry for fulltime, 00:01:02.69\00:01:05.26 almost 13 years now. 00:01:05.26\00:01:07.20 But it's been really hard to encapsulate 00:01:07.20\00:01:09.50 what we're trying to do. 00:01:09.50\00:01:11.20 And so the Lord kind of gave me that 00:01:11.20\00:01:13.00 as I was in prayer the other day. 00:01:13.00\00:01:14.74 So the simplest way we can say it is 00:01:14.74\00:01:16.40 that we exist to enable the missionary 00:01:16.40\00:01:19.37 either local or national or foreign missionary 00:01:19.37\00:01:23.08 to take the gospel to the underserved, 00:01:23.08\00:01:25.75 and the most underserved 00:01:25.75\00:01:27.38 as far as we have been able to find 00:01:27.38\00:01:29.22 is the people on the continent of Asia. 00:01:29.22\00:01:31.95 Lot of people in America aren't aware 00:01:31.95\00:01:34.26 that Asia has over half the world's population. 00:01:34.26\00:01:37.76 Right. 00:01:37.76\00:01:38.89 Ninety percent of all unreached people groups 00:01:38.89\00:01:40.90 live in Asia. 00:01:40.90\00:01:41.93 Right. 00:01:41.93\00:01:43.00 So that's why we're in Jesus for Asia. 00:01:43.00\00:01:45.13 Right. 00:01:45.13\00:01:46.23 Okay, can you break that down? 00:01:46.23\00:01:47.90 Explain maybe a little more what that means. 00:01:47.90\00:01:51.11 It's very simple but all the projects, 00:01:51.11\00:01:53.21 you look at all the projects and they're all about 00:01:53.21\00:01:55.88 serving those that are on the frontline 00:01:55.88\00:01:58.75 to reach those that don't know the gospel 00:01:58.75\00:02:02.05 or don't have access to the gospel. 00:02:02.05\00:02:04.15 So missionary is coming from America 00:02:04.15\00:02:07.36 from other countries, going to the underserved. 00:02:07.36\00:02:09.96 In other words, a country, 00:02:09.96\00:02:11.56 there is like several stages in a person's Christian growth. 00:02:11.56\00:02:16.23 First you start out with hearing the gospel. 00:02:16.23\00:02:18.50 That's the seed planting. 00:02:18.50\00:02:20.10 Then you have the incubation period, 00:02:20.10\00:02:23.00 the growing, the early stages, 00:02:23.00\00:02:24.71 where you're just drinking all the milk of the gospel, 00:02:24.71\00:02:27.58 and then you go into the... 00:02:27.58\00:02:28.94 or develop stage where you start to establish, 00:02:28.94\00:02:31.71 you know, your identity as a Christ follower. 00:02:31.71\00:02:34.78 And then I believe the fourth and final stage is 00:02:34.78\00:02:37.39 when you become a giver of what you have received. 00:02:37.39\00:02:41.56 You know, first the seed, then the stalk, then the ear, 00:02:41.56\00:02:45.43 and then some 100, some 60, that type of thing. 00:02:45.43\00:02:49.46 And so we can find people like that in the countries 00:02:49.46\00:02:53.84 that are underserved 00:02:53.84\00:02:54.87 as well as people wanting to go to places 00:02:54.87\00:02:57.41 that are underserved. 00:02:57.41\00:02:59.04 And many times, it's easier for missionary 00:02:59.04\00:03:01.81 to go from a far country 00:03:01.81\00:03:03.85 than it is to go from the nearby tribe. 00:03:03.85\00:03:07.28 For instance, you know, one tribe across the valley 00:03:07.28\00:03:11.52 used to eat the people that are over there. 00:03:11.52\00:03:15.09 And so for the gospel to go there is very difficult. 00:03:15.09\00:03:19.36 Yeah, it's not going to work grow well. 00:03:19.36\00:03:21.43 There is going to be suspicion. 00:03:21.43\00:03:23.20 There is going to be some barriers to overcome. 00:03:23.20\00:03:24.60 Right. 00:03:24.60\00:03:25.77 Not that it's impossible, nothing is impossible with God, 00:03:25.77\00:03:28.00 but He needs people that are His hands and feet. 00:03:28.00\00:03:31.44 Right, right. 00:03:31.44\00:03:33.07 We all need to be willing to go wherever He goes. 00:03:33.07\00:03:35.28 Right. 00:03:35.28\00:03:36.34 Whether it's where you are right now 00:03:36.34\00:03:38.11 in a different capacity maybe even 00:03:38.11\00:03:41.35 or where somewhere on the other side of the world 00:03:41.35\00:03:44.65 to a city that has no Adventist 00:03:44.65\00:03:47.29 or to a village that has no Adventist 00:03:47.29\00:03:50.26 or to the far off jungle 00:03:50.26\00:03:52.03 where there is no Adventist. 00:03:52.03\00:03:53.16 That's right. 00:03:53.16\00:03:54.23 And then, that will take the form of, 00:03:54.23\00:03:55.63 you know, their food, you know, they need to eat. 00:03:55.63\00:04:00.10 Sometimes that will give them tools like media, 00:04:00.10\00:04:03.67 translation tools, television tools, 00:04:03.67\00:04:06.61 radio, car, you know, 00:04:06.61\00:04:08.71 motorcycle, and today... 00:04:08.71\00:04:10.98 We get to talk about bicycles. 00:04:10.98\00:04:12.61 Exactly, which is a tool to enable... 00:04:12.61\00:04:14.88 The local workers. Exactly. 00:04:14.88\00:04:16.79 A number of years ago, 00:04:16.79\00:04:17.92 and one of our videos explains us, 00:04:17.92\00:04:19.82 but a number of years ago, 00:04:19.82\00:04:21.66 you were there visiting workers, 00:04:21.66\00:04:24.03 and you received a request. 00:04:24.03\00:04:25.53 Yes. And the request was... 00:04:25.53\00:04:27.96 For more bicycles 00:04:27.96\00:04:29.16 or for bicycles for these people 00:04:29.16\00:04:30.47 because now what 00:04:30.47\00:04:32.17 another special aspect of the show today is 00:04:32.17\00:04:35.30 is that we're going into an area of the world 00:04:35.30\00:04:37.54 that is very, very unique. 00:04:37.54\00:04:40.01 And that it is one of the most highly densely populated areas 00:04:40.01\00:04:44.11 of the entire world. 00:04:44.11\00:04:46.11 As more people per square inch 00:04:46.11\00:04:49.58 than just about anywhere else in the world, 00:04:49.58\00:04:52.02 I mean, there are some cities that are 00:04:52.02\00:04:53.22 but as far as a large region, 00:04:53.22\00:04:55.16 if you look at a population density map, 00:04:55.16\00:04:57.79 this is in that area. 00:04:57.79\00:04:59.46 It's in northern India, 00:04:59.46\00:05:00.96 and there's just lot of people out there. 00:05:00.96\00:05:03.13 Okay, so back to the bicycles. Yes. 00:05:03.13\00:05:05.97 Why bicycles? 00:05:05.97\00:05:07.27 Well, that's a really good question 00:05:07.27\00:05:08.37 because there's a lot of forms of transportation. 00:05:08.37\00:05:10.77 And the idea of a bicycle wasn't really my idea, okay? 00:05:10.77\00:05:15.68 'Cause coming from America, bicycle is a recreation. 00:05:15.68\00:05:19.61 Yeah, that's true. 00:05:19.61\00:05:20.95 I mean I'm not thinking about buying a bicycle 00:05:20.95\00:05:23.55 so I can get to work. 00:05:23.55\00:05:25.22 Or to the grocery store or... Yeah. 00:05:25.22\00:05:27.96 I mean, I'm thinking about a car 00:05:27.96\00:05:29.89 or that, you know, maybe a motorcycle, 00:05:29.89\00:05:32.16 but usually car or minivan or something like that 00:05:32.16\00:05:34.93 where I can take my family but back in 2009, 00:05:34.93\00:05:38.87 I was on the tour of North India, 00:05:38.87\00:05:41.17 and we did an interview with one of our Bible workers 00:05:41.17\00:05:45.01 and that's what spark the idea 00:05:45.01\00:05:46.64 of this thing could be useful. 00:05:46.64\00:05:48.41 Okay, here is the video of a portion of that interview. 00:05:48.41\00:05:51.98 Yeah. 00:05:51.98\00:05:53.31 What is this area? District? 00:05:53.31\00:05:55.08 They are working in village. 00:05:59.79\00:06:01.12 Village. 00:06:01.12\00:06:02.49 Twenty-two. 00:06:02.49\00:06:04.13 Twenty-two villages? Yes. 00:06:04.13\00:06:06.43 On this bicycle? 00:06:06.43\00:06:08.33 Yes. 00:06:08.33\00:06:10.77 Okay, so you notice that that bicycle was new, okay? 00:06:10.77\00:06:14.00 Before that, he didn't have a bicycle. 00:06:14.00\00:06:16.37 And did you hear how many villages 00:06:16.37\00:06:18.24 he has to care for? 00:06:18.24\00:06:19.81 Twenty-two. Twenty-two villages. 00:06:19.81\00:06:23.61 With worship groups and each one of those villages, 00:06:23.61\00:06:26.08 you know, how many church members 00:06:26.08\00:06:27.88 he has gathered throughout those 22 villages? 00:06:27.88\00:06:30.15 How many? 00:06:30.15\00:06:31.32 One thousand three hundred church members. 00:06:31.32\00:06:35.49 He is a Bible worker, he's not a pastor. 00:06:35.49\00:06:38.66 And so I asked him and I didn't catch it on camera 00:06:38.66\00:06:40.93 but I asked him, you know, what do you do on Sabbath? 00:06:40.93\00:06:44.00 You know, You got 22 villages. Yeah. 00:06:44.00\00:06:48.67 I mean if you went to one village 00:06:48.67\00:06:51.64 every single Sabbath... 00:06:51.64\00:06:52.77 Right. So he could visit... 00:06:52.77\00:06:54.28 each village twice the year. Twice a year. 00:06:54.28\00:06:57.21 So I'm like what do you do on a Sabbath? 00:06:57.21\00:06:58.71 He says, "Oh, I'm so sorry, 00:06:58.71\00:07:00.68 I can only visit five or six villages 00:07:00.68\00:07:04.29 on one Sabbath on his bicycle. 00:07:04.29\00:07:05.95 Five or six. 00:07:05.95\00:07:07.02 Now that he has a bicycle, 00:07:07.02\00:07:08.29 he can hit five or six villages. 00:07:08.29\00:07:10.33 Wow. 00:07:10.33\00:07:11.93 I'm so lazy. 00:07:11.93\00:07:15.63 It just makes you want to enable them. 00:07:15.63\00:07:17.63 Absolutely. 00:07:17.63\00:07:18.73 Just makes you want to give them what they need, 00:07:18.73\00:07:20.27 the tools they need. 00:07:20.27\00:07:21.40 I would love to give them motorcycles. 00:07:21.40\00:07:22.84 Right. 00:07:22.84\00:07:23.87 And that's what a lot of them really need. 00:07:23.87\00:07:25.37 Yeah. 00:07:25.37\00:07:26.44 But then, you know, the cost for gas, 00:07:26.44\00:07:28.58 and maintenance, and things like that, it adds up. 00:07:28.58\00:07:30.85 And when you're living on $90 a month, 00:07:30.85\00:07:33.42 that's a huge expense. 00:07:33.42\00:07:34.62 Yeah. 00:07:34.62\00:07:35.75 At least with the bicycle, 00:07:35.75\00:07:37.12 they can get where they need to go. 00:07:37.12\00:07:38.59 It might take them a while, but they can get there. 00:07:38.59\00:07:40.72 Yeah. 00:07:40.72\00:07:41.79 And they're very thankful for those bicycles. 00:07:41.79\00:07:44.09 And so that sparked an idea in our minds 00:07:44.09\00:07:47.13 for maybe there's other Bible workers 00:07:47.13\00:07:49.53 that need bicycles also. 00:07:49.53\00:07:51.40 Right. 00:07:51.40\00:07:52.53 So a few years later, we had a young couple 00:07:52.53\00:07:54.30 that went to North India 00:07:54.30\00:07:55.60 and met a bunch of these Bible workers, 00:07:55.60\00:07:57.61 and they were doing training with the Bible workers. 00:07:57.61\00:08:00.54 And they saw a need for bicycles also. 00:08:00.54\00:08:02.78 And they shared it. 00:08:02.78\00:08:04.65 And one of their friends said, 00:08:04.65\00:08:06.68 "I'm going to see what I can do." 00:08:06.68\00:08:08.35 And so she started fundraising 00:08:08.35\00:08:10.55 to help buy bicycles for these Bible workers. 00:08:10.55\00:08:13.19 And that one lady who wasn't wealthy... 00:08:13.19\00:08:15.46 No. 00:08:15.46\00:08:16.56 She didn't have, hardly, any money of her own. 00:08:16.56\00:08:18.19 No, she couldn't just say I'm going to pay for 00:08:18.19\00:08:20.50 how many bicycles. 00:08:20.50\00:08:21.50 I don't think she could even afford one, 00:08:21.50\00:08:23.77 you know, all at once, 00:08:23.77\00:08:24.80 she had to give a little bit at a time 00:08:24.80\00:08:26.20 to buy one bicycle. 00:08:26.20\00:08:27.90 And what did she do to raise funds? 00:08:27.90\00:08:30.51 She told her friends, she asked people to help, 00:08:30.51\00:08:33.74 you know, it was just crowdsourcing, crowdfunding. 00:08:33.74\00:08:37.71 Yeah, the common term for that today 00:08:37.71\00:08:39.68 or the new buzzword for that is 00:08:39.68\00:08:40.88 peer-to-peer fundraising. 00:08:40.88\00:08:41.95 Peer-to-peer, right. 00:08:41.95\00:08:43.05 So instead of like donating what you can do, 00:08:43.05\00:08:45.15 you donate your time in spreading awareness of the need 00:08:45.15\00:08:48.62 and so a bunch of your friends get together 00:08:48.62\00:08:51.13 and make a bigger impact 00:08:51.13\00:08:52.93 than you could do on your own. 00:08:52.93\00:08:54.46 Right. 00:08:54.46\00:08:55.53 And so then we had another couple 00:08:55.53\00:08:58.00 that came forward and said, 00:08:58.00\00:08:59.20 "We want to finish off 'cause we had a goal 00:08:59.20\00:09:01.10 to give bicycles 00:09:01.10\00:09:03.34 to a certain number of Bible workers 00:09:03.34\00:09:05.37 at the beginning and then to keep, you know, 00:09:05.37\00:09:07.91 giving bicycles as we could." 00:09:07.91\00:09:09.31 Right. 00:09:09.31\00:09:10.48 And so then we had a couple that came forward and said, 00:09:10.48\00:09:12.08 "We want to finish off the fund 00:09:12.08\00:09:14.02 and enable those ones to have the bicycles." 00:09:14.02\00:09:17.82 Praise the Lord. And so we're very thankful. 00:09:17.82\00:09:20.26 Yeah, so what are we doing today then? 00:09:20.26\00:09:21.72 I mean, we've got some... 00:09:21.72\00:09:23.26 We get to have a report of how the funds were used, 00:09:23.26\00:09:26.76 which, you know, many times we come 00:09:26.76\00:09:28.53 and we share needs and we share opportunities, 00:09:28.53\00:09:31.97 but sometimes, it's nice just to see 00:09:31.97\00:09:34.04 where the money went 00:09:34.04\00:09:35.07 and what it got to do and who received it. 00:09:35.07\00:09:37.47 So we get to see that. 00:09:37.47\00:09:39.11 And we have a video showing some of these Bible workers 00:09:39.11\00:09:42.21 receiving their bicycles. 00:09:42.21\00:09:43.65 Here in Assam region, 00:09:49.72\00:09:51.69 we have got 32 Jesus for Asia workers 00:09:51.69\00:09:55.02 which started in the year 2008, 00:09:55.02\00:09:57.59 and by the grace of God, all these 9-10 years, 00:09:57.59\00:10:01.96 God has been miraculously blessing this ministry. 00:10:01.96\00:10:05.47 This Assam region is divided into three parts, 00:10:05.47\00:10:09.34 the Lower Assam, Middle Assam, 00:10:09.34\00:10:11.91 and the Upper Assam. 00:10:11.91\00:10:13.34 And this is a big state, and by the grace of God, 00:10:13.34\00:10:17.55 we have got 6,000 Seventh-day Adventist memberships 00:10:17.55\00:10:22.65 in this part of Assam. 00:10:22.65\00:10:25.15 Last year, when Elder Jon Wood, 00:10:25.15\00:10:27.49 the president of Jesus for Asia, 00:10:27.49\00:10:29.86 visited our workers, 00:10:29.86\00:10:31.66 we were asking them their needs, 00:10:31.66\00:10:33.60 and that is when they said 00:10:33.60\00:10:34.96 that it would be nice if we have a bicycle 00:10:34.96\00:10:37.87 because, here in Assam, the transportation is 00:10:37.87\00:10:40.90 very, very, very difficult. 00:10:40.90\00:10:42.80 So these workers are really covering up 00:10:42.80\00:10:46.21 30 to 40 kilometers each, 00:10:46.21\00:10:49.04 which is very, very difficult for them to go by walk 00:10:49.04\00:10:52.21 because the transportation, the bus facility, 00:10:52.21\00:10:55.15 or any other transportation is very difficult. 00:10:55.15\00:10:57.89 That is when they said 00:10:57.89\00:10:59.12 it would be nice to have bicycles. 00:10:59.12\00:11:01.59 And from then on, we have been praying. 00:11:01.59\00:11:03.79 And I thank the Lord, 00:11:03.79\00:11:05.23 God has answered our prayers 00:11:05.23\00:11:07.23 and opened the gates of heaven, touched the hearts of people, 00:11:07.23\00:11:10.50 and made it possible that we could buy these bicycles 00:11:10.50\00:11:14.10 and give them to our workers to hasten the work 00:11:14.10\00:11:18.31 because we know God is coming very, very soon. 00:11:18.31\00:11:21.24 In Lower Assam, 00:11:21.24\00:11:22.58 we are distributing nine bicycles to our workers, 00:11:22.58\00:11:26.85 and we have called the workers from Upper Assam 00:11:26.85\00:11:29.28 because it is a very long ways. 00:11:29.28\00:11:31.75 We are giving out 14 bicycles today 00:11:31.75\00:11:35.09 for these workers. 00:11:35.09\00:11:36.12 The reason, few of the workers, 00:11:36.12\00:11:38.13 they have got their own motorbikes, 00:11:38.13\00:11:40.70 so we are not giving for the ones 00:11:40.70\00:11:42.63 who have transportation, 00:11:42.63\00:11:44.27 but we are giving only for the ones 00:11:44.27\00:11:46.00 who don't have any mode of transportation. 00:11:46.00\00:11:49.00 So here in Middle, including the Upper Assam, 00:11:49.00\00:11:52.44 we are giving out 14 bicycles. 00:11:52.44\00:11:54.64 Upper Assam is a very vast area. 00:11:54.64\00:11:57.15 Our workers over there, 00:11:57.15\00:11:58.78 they find it very difficult to reach the villages. 00:11:58.78\00:12:03.45 So I think it's going to be a great blessing 00:12:03.45\00:12:06.49 for these workers to reach out 00:12:06.49\00:12:08.46 to the unreached people in the darkness of sin. 00:12:08.46\00:12:11.43 And our workers, they are going to really use these bicycles 00:12:11.43\00:12:15.60 in a mighty way. 00:12:15.60\00:12:18.10 In Jesus' name. Amen. 00:12:18.10\00:12:20.77 When we came here to meet the workers, 00:12:20.77\00:12:22.94 when they came to know that they are going to get 00:12:22.94\00:12:25.34 a mode of transportation that is the bicycle 00:12:25.34\00:12:28.58 which they have been praying for a long time, 00:12:28.58\00:12:31.11 when we told them and when we saw them, 00:12:31.11\00:12:33.38 their faces were brightened. 00:12:33.38\00:12:36.82 They were so happy to receive these bicycles. 00:12:36.82\00:12:40.32 So in behalf of them, I do thank you all so much. 00:12:40.32\00:12:44.46 And continue to pray for us. Thank you. 00:12:44.46\00:12:46.46 So they're very thankful for these bicycles. 00:12:54.17\00:12:56.54 Yeah, it's really neat to see 00:12:56.54\00:12:58.57 and to think about how much further they can go 00:12:58.57\00:13:01.78 when they can take a bicycle 00:13:01.78\00:13:03.51 and go to wherever they need, 00:13:03.51\00:13:04.75 you know, because we talk about... 00:13:04.75\00:13:06.11 sometimes we've shown footage from the buses, 00:13:06.11\00:13:08.98 sometimes we talk about them taking buses, 00:13:08.98\00:13:10.89 but the bus routes don't go everywhere they need to go. 00:13:10.89\00:13:14.86 No, they don't. 00:13:14.86\00:13:15.92 So it's really nice that they can take a bicycle and, 00:13:15.92\00:13:18.83 you know, take the side path or whatever and get there. 00:13:18.83\00:13:22.83 In many places, a bus may not come 00:13:22.83\00:13:26.00 but once a day or once a week. Yeah, it's true. 00:13:26.00\00:13:28.47 And sometimes those buses are very expensive. 00:13:28.47\00:13:30.84 They may seem inexpensive to us, 00:13:30.84\00:13:32.97 but a lot of times they're quite expensive. 00:13:32.97\00:13:35.61 I've been amazed. 00:13:35.61\00:13:36.98 Seems as though transportation costs in northern India 00:13:36.98\00:13:40.25 is about the same as transportation costs 00:13:40.25\00:13:42.18 here in America. 00:13:42.18\00:13:43.22 Wow, that's sad. 00:13:43.22\00:13:44.49 And so if you're living on $90 a month, 00:13:44.49\00:13:46.76 it's almost impossible to get anywhere. 00:13:46.76\00:13:49.46 Yeah. 00:13:49.46\00:13:50.63 In fact, when they have to come in to get their paycheck, 00:13:50.63\00:13:54.00 it's a major ordeal for them to do that. 00:13:54.00\00:13:56.13 Yeah. 00:13:56.13\00:13:57.70 Sometimes they'll go 24, 36 hours on a bus 00:13:57.70\00:14:00.90 just to get to the central office. 00:14:00.90\00:14:04.07 Yeah. 00:14:04.07\00:14:06.21 So what they go through is just amazing. 00:14:06.21\00:14:08.88 So to be able to enable them 00:14:08.88\00:14:10.95 and to see their happiness in receiving the bicycles 00:14:10.95\00:14:13.72 is just such a joy, such a joy. 00:14:13.72\00:14:16.22 'Cause they have a heart for expanding their territory. 00:14:16.22\00:14:18.59 Yeah. 00:14:18.59\00:14:19.62 And so a bicycle gives them that ability 00:14:19.62\00:14:21.76 to move faster in spreading the gospel. 00:14:21.76\00:14:24.49 Right. So we do have some pictures 00:14:24.49\00:14:26.49 from this time of giving the bicycles away. 00:14:26.49\00:14:30.03 Yeah. Okay. 00:14:30.03\00:14:31.33 Let's go quickly through them. 00:14:31.33\00:14:32.83 Okay, here you have some bicycles, 00:14:32.83\00:14:34.67 those are brand new, all lined up, 00:14:34.67\00:14:36.37 ready to be given out. 00:14:36.37\00:14:37.91 Here we are in Middle Assam. 00:14:37.91\00:14:39.07 You see the secretary in the blue shirt, 00:14:39.07\00:14:41.21 the ministerial secretary. 00:14:41.21\00:14:43.01 By the way, Assam, 00:14:43.01\00:14:44.55 just to give you an idea of what kind of state 00:14:44.55\00:14:46.61 we're talking about here, 33 million people in the state, 00:14:46.61\00:14:50.72 guess how many pastors? 00:14:50.72\00:14:52.15 No, don't guess, I'll tell you. 00:14:52.15\00:14:53.49 Okay. 00:14:53.49\00:14:54.79 Four. Millions, 33 million. 00:14:54.79\00:14:57.36 Thirty-three million people, four pastors. 00:14:57.36\00:15:00.30 A pastor for Upper Assam, 00:15:00.30\00:15:02.50 the president and secretary for Middle Assam, 00:15:02.50\00:15:04.83 and a pastor for Lower Assam. 00:15:04.83\00:15:08.04 You know, it's hard when you go to places like this 00:15:08.04\00:15:11.31 and you see the tremendous need. 00:15:11.31\00:15:13.51 And it's like, man, let's just rise up together, 00:15:13.51\00:15:16.58 let's make this happen. Yes. 00:15:16.58\00:15:18.45 We have 33 Bible workers up there, 00:15:18.45\00:15:21.22 so one Bible worker per million people. 00:15:21.22\00:15:23.79 Let's triple that. 00:15:23.79\00:15:24.95 Why don't we have 100 Bible workers 00:15:24.95\00:15:26.72 and a fulltime training program? 00:15:26.72\00:15:28.79 Yeah, that would be wonderful. 00:15:28.79\00:15:30.53 Yeah. Absolutely wonderful, 00:15:30.53\00:15:32.03 and the gospel would go much faster. 00:15:32.03\00:15:33.73 But even 100 Bible workers for 33 million people? 00:15:33.73\00:15:37.47 That's still not enough. 00:15:37.47\00:15:38.57 No, we need 1,000, you know? Still not enough, yeah. 00:15:38.57\00:15:41.57 There are people up there 00:15:41.57\00:15:42.70 that are willing to work fulltime, 00:15:42.70\00:15:44.24 and especially if we put in a training school 00:15:44.24\00:15:47.51 to train Bible workers to do this, 00:15:47.51\00:15:51.35 a lot of people would join. 00:15:51.35\00:15:52.88 Yeah. 00:15:52.88\00:15:53.98 And they would see an opportunity 00:15:53.98\00:15:55.28 in sharing the gospel. 00:15:55.28\00:15:57.02 Right. 00:15:57.02\00:15:58.45 So we want to do that. 00:15:58.45\00:15:59.85 We want to do. Absolutely. Yeah. 00:15:59.85\00:16:01.46 So that's one of the things we've been praying for 00:16:01.46\00:16:03.46 is more workers and a training program. 00:16:03.46\00:16:05.66 Yes. 00:16:05.66\00:16:06.73 So we do have a couple that's working on materials 00:16:06.73\00:16:09.23 to train the Bible workers in India. 00:16:09.23\00:16:11.73 This is what's so beautiful 00:16:11.73\00:16:12.90 because this couple is not just taking 00:16:12.90\00:16:15.97 what we have used here in America, 00:16:15.97\00:16:18.57 but they are looking at what are the needs, 00:16:18.57\00:16:21.58 what is the world view 00:16:21.58\00:16:22.91 because when you come from a Hindu background, 00:16:22.91\00:16:24.88 it's very different from coming from a Christian background. 00:16:24.88\00:16:27.58 If you go down the street and say you need to obey God, 00:16:27.58\00:16:30.49 people will at least have an idea of 00:16:30.49\00:16:32.09 who you're talking about, 00:16:32.09\00:16:33.82 where, in Hinduism, they have 300 million gods. 00:16:33.82\00:16:36.52 Yeah, which one? 00:16:36.52\00:16:39.49 Exactly. Yeah. I'm trying. 00:16:39.49\00:16:41.26 I'm trying to do that. 00:16:41.26\00:16:42.30 I'm appeasing, you know, 20 gods already, 00:16:42.30\00:16:45.03 which other god do you want me to appease? 00:16:45.03\00:16:46.57 Yeah. 00:16:46.57\00:16:47.70 Without understanding the character of God and stuff. 00:16:47.70\00:16:50.41 And so they're adapting materials, 00:16:50.41\00:16:52.81 the Bible and the principles of the Bible, 00:16:52.81\00:16:54.61 into that worldview 00:16:54.61\00:16:55.94 so that we can make those bridges a lot easier, 00:16:55.94\00:16:58.98 bring people into an understanding of who God is, 00:16:58.98\00:17:01.25 what His character is like much more quickly. 00:17:01.25\00:17:03.65 Right. 00:17:03.65\00:17:04.72 And what Christ really did for us. 00:17:04.72\00:17:06.39 Yes. 00:17:06.39\00:17:07.46 And so to establish that school up there 00:17:07.46\00:17:11.26 where you've got 4 pastors for 33 million people. 00:17:11.26\00:17:14.83 Yeah, that would be beautiful. 00:17:14.83\00:17:17.07 We got to do it. Yeah, yeah. 00:17:17.07\00:17:19.50 But we can't do it. 00:17:19.50\00:17:20.64 I mean, you and I, we have nothing. 00:17:20.64\00:17:23.17 Right. We're rather poor. 00:17:23.17\00:17:25.27 And so what we do is enable missionaries 00:17:25.27\00:17:29.14 by opening up the opportunity for our viewers 00:17:29.14\00:17:32.85 and for anybody that has a heart for the gospel 00:17:32.85\00:17:35.42 to get involved and sponsor a Bible worker, 00:17:35.42\00:17:37.75 sponsor a bicycle, sponsor a school, 00:17:37.75\00:17:40.66 sponsor a teacher, whatever they feel called 00:17:40.66\00:17:43.46 or they feel the Holy Spirit is 00:17:43.46\00:17:44.76 calling them to do... Right. 00:17:44.76\00:17:46.59 They can have a direct impact on the frontline. 00:17:46.59\00:17:48.93 Right. So we're like a big pipe. 00:17:48.93\00:17:51.13 Right. 00:17:51.13\00:17:52.17 So if somebody donates $90 00:17:52.17\00:17:54.74 to sponsor a Bible worker for a month, 00:17:54.74\00:17:57.47 how much of that $90 does the Bible worker receive 00:17:57.47\00:18:00.91 that's there in Assam in the field? 00:18:00.91\00:18:03.28 Well, the Bible worker receives $90 a month. 00:18:03.28\00:18:05.45 Correct. 00:18:05.45\00:18:06.48 So the only thing that comes out 00:18:06.48\00:18:08.15 of any funds given is the bank fees necessary 00:18:08.15\00:18:11.99 to move the money wherever it goes. 00:18:11.99\00:18:13.59 Okay. So the Bible workers get paid. 00:18:13.59\00:18:16.46 Thank the Lord we've been able to pay them full salary. 00:18:16.46\00:18:19.09 There were a few years 00:18:19.09\00:18:20.16 when we weren't able to pay them full salary. 00:18:20.16\00:18:21.83 Right. 00:18:21.83\00:18:22.90 I thought that they would all leave 00:18:22.90\00:18:24.23 'cause sometimes we pay them two-thirds their salary, 00:18:24.23\00:18:26.43 sometimes we'd skip a month or miss a month. 00:18:26.43\00:18:28.60 Yeah. 00:18:28.60\00:18:29.67 Because we only are able to send over... 00:18:29.67\00:18:31.81 What comes in. Exactly. 00:18:31.81\00:18:33.91 And so I thought they'd all leave, 00:18:33.91\00:18:35.31 and they didn't. Right. 00:18:35.31\00:18:37.25 And we're like, "Why didn't you leave? 00:18:37.25\00:18:39.71 Why are you still here?" 00:18:39.71\00:18:40.78 And you remember what they said? 00:18:40.78\00:18:42.28 They said, "God first, money second." 00:18:42.28\00:18:44.59 Yeah. 00:18:44.59\00:18:45.65 They have their priorities straight. 00:18:45.65\00:18:47.06 Yes. 00:18:47.06\00:18:48.56 And we're very thankful for that heart, 00:18:48.56\00:18:51.19 that heart that God has given them 00:18:51.19\00:18:53.03 to love the lost like that. 00:18:53.03\00:18:54.96 Yeah, yeah, and to be so dedicated to the Lord. 00:18:54.96\00:18:57.63 So this is a very effective and beautiful way 00:18:57.63\00:19:00.34 to take the gospel to the world 00:19:00.34\00:19:02.40 is to enable this workforce to go forth. 00:19:02.40\00:19:04.71 Right. 00:19:04.71\00:19:05.74 Okay, so we have these pictures. 00:19:05.74\00:19:07.78 We want to go through these pictures. 00:19:07.78\00:19:08.94 Okay. 00:19:08.94\00:19:09.98 Here they are praying around the bicycles, 00:19:09.98\00:19:11.48 blessing the bicycles, 00:19:11.48\00:19:12.71 blessing the riders of the bicycles 00:19:12.71\00:19:15.05 that they will be in good shape 00:19:15.05\00:19:16.95 and continue and give a life of service. 00:19:16.95\00:19:18.69 Okay. 00:19:18.69\00:19:19.75 Here's the secretary, one of the four pastors, 00:19:19.75\00:19:23.19 of the state is doing an individual blessing 00:19:23.19\00:19:26.36 for this bicycle and this Bible worker. 00:19:26.36\00:19:28.56 Young guy, smiling, 00:19:28.56\00:19:30.63 just received his brand new vehicle. 00:19:30.63\00:19:32.33 Here is a middle aged man, an elderly couple, I met them. 00:19:32.33\00:19:37.64 Amazing stories. 00:19:37.64\00:19:38.94 Can't wait to tell those stories someday. 00:19:38.94\00:19:40.38 Okay. 00:19:40.38\00:19:41.44 Now we go to Lower Assam. 00:19:41.44\00:19:43.01 Here we've got some behind-the-scenes 00:19:43.01\00:19:45.18 kind of artistic photos of some of these bicycles 00:19:45.18\00:19:49.92 all coming together. 00:19:49.92\00:19:51.52 Again, gathering around for prayer. 00:19:51.52\00:19:53.02 Prayer is very important in a country 00:19:53.02\00:19:56.29 with so much open idolatry. Right. 00:19:56.29\00:20:01.30 The opposition of the devil and his minions is very real. 00:20:01.30\00:20:05.10 Absolutely. Yeah. 00:20:05.10\00:20:06.47 Here's a man that's received a brand new bicycle. 00:20:06.47\00:20:08.67 Looks like they've got their names on them. 00:20:08.67\00:20:10.54 Yes, down here they did that. 00:20:10.54\00:20:12.57 That's neat. 00:20:12.57\00:20:13.71 And this is not one of our Bible workers, 00:20:13.71\00:20:15.71 this is just showing what they can do with a bike. 00:20:15.71\00:20:18.11 Right. 00:20:18.11\00:20:19.48 He got one, two, three, four, five, six, 00:20:19.48\00:20:22.52 probably seven huge packs of bananas. 00:20:22.52\00:20:26.29 Stocks. Stocks on one bicycle. 00:20:26.29\00:20:29.46 Wow. 00:20:29.46\00:20:31.76 So they can pile books and Bibles and, you know, 00:20:31.76\00:20:34.73 their wives or their kids, sometimes their entire family, 00:20:34.73\00:20:39.27 get on one bicycle and travel down the road. 00:20:39.27\00:20:41.90 So that was in Assam, all those pictures and videos. 00:20:41.90\00:20:45.11 And now we're going to move to a different area 00:20:45.11\00:20:47.71 to Upper Ganges section. Yes. 00:20:47.71\00:20:50.01 Yeah, and Upper Ganges is very highly populated, 00:20:50.01\00:20:52.68 and you've got some statistics to share I think. 00:20:52.68\00:20:54.85 Yes, Upper Ganges section, 00:20:54.85\00:20:56.65 now section is just a unit of church, 00:20:56.65\00:21:00.06 you know, the way that they've divided 00:21:00.06\00:21:01.79 like a conference, 00:21:01.79\00:21:03.29 but it's not a conference yet, 00:21:03.29\00:21:06.13 it's the next thing to a conference. 00:21:06.13\00:21:08.20 But Upper Ganges section, 00:21:08.20\00:21:10.43 I've spent quite a bit of time there, 00:21:10.43\00:21:13.03 and I've never been so challenged with statistics 00:21:13.03\00:21:18.51 as Upper Ganges section. 00:21:18.51\00:21:20.68 Okay, this one section has 170 million people. 00:21:20.68\00:21:26.85 That's more than half the population 00:21:26.85\00:21:29.12 of the entire United States in one section. 00:21:29.12\00:21:32.22 There are 110,000 villages in Upper Ganges Section, 00:21:32.22\00:21:36.12 110,000 villages. 00:21:36.12\00:21:40.20 Of which, we have some work and some representation 00:21:40.20\00:21:43.90 and maybe 1,000. 00:21:43.90\00:21:46.63 And we're gonna do a whole... 00:21:46.63\00:21:47.90 we're going to do a show about Upper Ganges section. 00:21:47.90\00:21:50.67 I have not been able to share much about it 00:21:50.67\00:21:53.01 because it just moves my heart. 00:21:53.01\00:21:55.81 It tears me to pieces, basically, 00:21:55.81\00:21:58.71 just the statistics and people and what it's like to be there, 00:21:58.71\00:22:03.49 it's earthshaking. 00:22:03.49\00:22:06.02 To my view of how the world works. 00:22:06.02\00:22:09.39 When we talk about underserved, 00:22:09.39\00:22:13.06 I mean we're really in the heart 00:22:13.06\00:22:15.96 of the underserved areas. 00:22:15.96\00:22:19.03 There are other areas that are more underserved, 00:22:19.03\00:22:22.24 but this is the least served that I have ever seen. 00:22:22.24\00:22:26.68 But with some of the biggest opportunities... 00:22:26.68\00:22:30.11 Right. 00:22:30.11\00:22:31.11 You've got some villages that are all Christian. 00:22:31.11\00:22:36.35 You know, you hear about North India, 00:22:36.35\00:22:38.65 nobody goes to North India to do evangelistic series 00:22:38.65\00:22:41.26 because it's more dangerous. 00:22:41.26\00:22:44.23 But you've got entire villages that were raised up by 00:22:44.23\00:22:48.36 and converted by other denominations, 00:22:48.36\00:22:50.40 but in the '60s or '70s, they were abandoned 00:22:50.40\00:22:53.70 by those denominations. 00:22:53.70\00:22:54.87 And so you have villages that are Christian 00:22:54.87\00:22:58.31 but without any connection to a denomination, 00:22:58.31\00:23:01.31 without any leadership, 00:23:01.31\00:23:02.94 without any resources coming in. 00:23:02.94\00:23:04.71 And so they're just kind of wandering sheep, 00:23:04.71\00:23:08.68 and with the correct resources and the correct people 00:23:08.68\00:23:11.72 could bring those sheep back into the fold. 00:23:11.72\00:23:13.96 Well, that's an opportunity. 00:23:13.96\00:23:15.32 Yeah. Big opportunity. 00:23:15.32\00:23:17.43 Yeah, it's like, here's a smorgasbord, 00:23:17.43\00:23:19.86 you know, how many people would you like to see in the gospel? 00:23:19.86\00:23:24.10 How many people would you like to bring into the gospel? 00:23:24.10\00:23:26.74 I mean this is the area where we saw Sanjay Singh. 00:23:26.74\00:23:30.04 Okay, he had 1,300 church members 00:23:30.04\00:23:32.41 as a Bible worker 00:23:32.41\00:23:34.11 scattered around 22 different villages. 00:23:34.11\00:23:36.28 Yeah. 00:23:36.28\00:23:37.61 You know, big wide open door. 00:23:37.61\00:23:39.31 Now I couldn't go there and do an evangelistic series 00:23:39.31\00:23:41.95 because of the color of my skin but we can enable others 00:23:41.95\00:23:46.69 that are already there to do that work. 00:23:46.69\00:23:49.36 Right. 00:23:49.36\00:23:51.96 And we can also enable them by giving them bicycles... 00:23:51.96\00:23:54.40 Yes. 00:23:54.40\00:23:55.46 Which is why we have another video 00:23:55.46\00:23:57.67 about giving bicycles in Upper Ganges section. 00:23:57.67\00:24:00.94 Okay. 00:24:00.94\00:24:02.07 I am here in Upper Ganges section, 00:24:07.48\00:24:09.91 which is a part of North India union. 00:24:09.91\00:24:12.65 This is one of the biggest sections 00:24:12.65\00:24:14.78 in the whole of India, 00:24:14.78\00:24:16.35 which consists of the biggest state 00:24:16.35\00:24:18.22 called Uttar Pradesh. 00:24:18.22\00:24:19.49 And by the grace of God, we have got eight volunteers 00:24:19.49\00:24:22.99 for Jesus for Asia's ministry in this section, 00:24:22.99\00:24:26.49 helping God's work in this part of the section. 00:24:26.49\00:24:30.07 We came in the year 2010 to meet our volunteers 00:24:30.07\00:24:34.04 with President Elder Jon Wood. 00:24:34.04\00:24:36.30 When we were visiting the volunteers, 00:24:36.30\00:24:39.27 we saw them how much they suffered 00:24:39.27\00:24:41.78 going to one place to another. 00:24:41.78\00:24:43.68 And when we asked our workers, "What do you need?" 00:24:43.68\00:24:46.51 They said, "We need bicycles 00:24:46.51\00:24:48.48 because since we are covering cast area." 00:24:48.48\00:24:51.09 They don't have any mode of transportation here, 00:24:51.09\00:24:53.82 and we have been praying from then on 00:24:53.82\00:24:56.19 by the grace of God, God has answered the prayers. 00:24:56.19\00:24:58.49 And today, we were able to give out those bicycles. 00:24:58.49\00:25:02.33 We were really privileged to have 00:25:08.44\00:25:10.71 the North India Union President Pastor V.P. Singh 00:25:10.71\00:25:14.41 to come over here amidst a lot of busy schedule. 00:25:14.41\00:25:17.65 He accepted our invitation. 00:25:17.65\00:25:19.71 He came today and gave out the bicycles 00:25:19.71\00:25:22.22 for the workers here. 00:25:22.22\00:25:23.65 God bless you. 00:25:32.43\00:25:33.60 Thank you so much to Jesus for Asia group, 00:25:40.27\00:25:43.64 especially the donors 00:25:43.64\00:25:45.11 who have pooled in their resources 00:25:45.11\00:25:46.84 and made these funds available to us. 00:25:46.84\00:25:48.74 We are so thankful to you. 00:25:48.74\00:25:50.45 We'll be going to some very far flung areas. 00:25:50.45\00:25:53.85 Those are outbacks of Uttar Pradesh, 00:25:53.85\00:25:56.42 interior areas. 00:25:56.42\00:25:57.72 So these cycles will be a great asset, 00:25:57.72\00:26:00.42 a great help to the pastoral workers, 00:26:00.42\00:26:03.12 our JFA pioneers who are working in those fields. 00:26:03.12\00:26:06.66 I thank the Lord. 00:26:15.00\00:26:16.04 I am very happy that God has given the bicycles 00:26:16.04\00:26:19.57 to the workers here. 00:26:19.57\00:26:20.64 I pray that it will be used for His work 00:26:20.64\00:26:24.51 to hasten His coming soon. 00:26:24.51\00:26:26.61 I thank you for your prayers, for your support. 00:26:26.61\00:26:29.88 I thank you all. 00:26:29.88\00:26:30.95 Pretty exciting, huh? 00:26:35.72\00:26:36.86 Yeah, so wonderful to see. 00:26:36.86\00:26:39.26 Yeah, the smiles on their faces and how this will enable them. 00:26:39.26\00:26:42.60 You know, but some people need bicycles, 00:26:42.60\00:26:44.87 some missionaries need bicycles, 00:26:44.87\00:26:47.07 some missionaries need motorcycles, 00:26:47.07\00:26:48.84 some missionaries need cars, some missionaries need vans, 00:26:48.84\00:26:51.44 some missionaries need airplanes. 00:26:51.44\00:26:52.94 Right. 00:26:52.94\00:26:54.21 And some just need their monthly stipend. 00:26:54.21\00:26:56.21 Yes. 00:26:56.21\00:26:57.28 So there is a huge need out there. 00:26:57.28\00:26:59.15 There is a lot of opportunity out there, 00:26:59.15\00:27:02.72 and we want to continue to enable these workers 00:27:02.72\00:27:05.15 in every way we can. 00:27:05.15\00:27:06.35 Absolutely. 00:27:06.35\00:27:07.39 The advantage of the bicycle, of course, 00:27:07.39\00:27:09.19 is that it's very inexpensive compared to a motorcycle. 00:27:09.19\00:27:12.76 Motorcycle might cost $600 to $1,200, 00:27:12.76\00:27:16.10 car obviously several thousand dollars, 00:27:16.10\00:27:19.37 bicycle, maybe $100 or $150. 00:27:19.37\00:27:21.64 Right. 00:27:21.64\00:27:22.74 Something less than $150 depending on the exchange rate 00:27:22.74\00:27:25.61 and of course the features that you get on the bicycle. 00:27:25.61\00:27:28.48 Right. 00:27:28.48\00:27:29.54 These were kind of like solid, it's a good bicycle, 00:27:29.54\00:27:32.55 not too expensive but strong. 00:27:32.55\00:27:34.05 That's good. 00:27:34.05\00:27:35.95 If you would like to sponsor a bicycle or a Bible worker 00:27:35.95\00:27:39.09 or any of the other needs you've heard about, 00:27:39.09\00:27:41.39 you can send your tax deductible love gift 00:27:41.39\00:27:43.53 to Jesus for Asia, 00:27:43.53\00:27:45.36 PO Box 1221, Collegedale, Tennessee 37315. 00:27:45.36\00:27:50.83 Call us at (423) 413-7321 00:27:50.83\00:27:55.44 or visit our website at Jesus4Asia.org. 00:27:55.44\00:27:59.17 Please remember to pray for these Bible workers 00:27:59.17\00:28:01.68 and their new bicycles, 00:28:01.68\00:28:03.95 and may God richly bless you 00:28:03.95\00:28:05.75 until we see you next time on Jesus for Asia Now. 00:28:05.75\00:28:08.75
