Bible worker stories.

Our story today is
about a Bible worker now,

but it starts with a
disobedient housewife.

It goes way back, back in 2006

we were looking
around this area,
00:00:45.14\00:00:47.28
we found a several different
churches that had been built
00:00:47.31\00:00:50.65
but were locked
00:00:50.68\00:00:51.71
because there weren't
any pastors or Bible workers
00:00:51.75\00:00:54.28
to take care of them.
00:00:54.32\00:00:55.88
The local unit, the
local conference at that time
00:00:55.92\00:00:58.72
didn't have the
manpower to keep them going
00:00:58.75\00:01:01.56
so they've been locked.

And the
villagers were complaining,

says, this church is
here, but it's never opened.

And so we
thought, you know what,

we're gonna do
evangelistic series.

Why go to place that we'd
have to build a new church

when we can just come
and start the churches

that are already built.

So we brought six teams

and we did evangelistic series
in six different churches.

Right.

And the thing is so
that this was all around

one main town Udumalpet.

In that town
there was no church.
00:01:28.82\00:01:31.89
So the president of
the conference came to us

and says, "Can we
please do something

for the main city of Udumalpet?"

So we added an
effort in the town area

and so we all took
turns to speaking there and...

And it was in a
big marriage hall,

rented hall, and a
lot of people came.

One of our Bible
workers that had been with us

from the very, very beginning,
00:01:54.28\00:01:55.98
she used to be a Muslim
00:01:56.01\00:01:57.68
but she had married a Christian,
00:01:57.71\00:01:59.88
but the Christian
in order to marry her
00:01:59.91\00:02:01.75
had to become Muslim,
00:02:01.78\00:02:02.78
so he converted to Muslim
00:02:02.82\00:02:03.99
but he told her a
little bit about Christianity,
00:02:04.02\00:02:06.89
and then he kind of went crazy

and came at her and
stabbed her with the machete,
00:02:09.46\00:02:12.96
hacked her up.

And they carried
her to the hospital,

you know, pieces of
flesh and stuff like that.

She only knew one promise,

and she claimed that
promise over and over again,

and the doctor says you
will die in three hours,

three days later she
walks out of the hospital.

Yeah, God is good.
And then she became our...

Bible worker.
Yeah. So she went out...

She and her daughters
went and knocked on this one,

in the houses in
the neighborhood,

and this one
house she knocked on,

she met Jennifer.

And she invited
them to the meetings.

Yes.

But Thomas,
Jennifer's husband said,

"No way, we're not going."

That's right.

They had their faith

and that was good
enough for them, but she...

They were Christian, right? Yes.

Of another faith. Right.

He used to be a Hindu priest
and converted to Christianity

but a different faith.

And so she started
coming to the meetings...

She was sneaking out.
Sneaking out at night.
00:03:04.48\00:03:06.35
She wasn't coming when he knew.

Right.

And then she got
so excited about it,

she started sharing with him

what she was learning
and his heart was softened.

And so they
started coming as a family.

And at the end
of those meetings...

They were baptized. Yes.

And I remember the pastor
saying this is a special couple

because they're from a
caste that is very unusual,

very few of them
actually have become...

And there's many, many castes,
00:03:37.18\00:03:38.65
like 2,000 unreached
people groups in India

and that's because there
are so many different castes,

and so many different castes

that have not
heard the gospel yet.

Right, and things don't
cross caste barrier very well.

So they were converted,

and then they learned
more and more of the truth.

And, of course, the church
that came out of those meetings,

we had to continue
renting a marriage hall,

and even to this day

we're still praying for
funds to build a church.

So back to their story... Yes.

They learn more
and more of the gospel

and they loved it more and more.

And now, then they became...

They both quit
their good jobs. Yeah.

And became Bible workers.

Now, we're gonna
show you some of the stuff

that he does as a Bible worker.

I go in the
morning, I buy vegetables

like carrot, beet
root, tomato, onion,

brinjal, and then also cabbage.

And then I go
to the grocery shop

to buy needed
groceries like dahl

and then powders,
coriander powder, chili powder,

sambar powder,
turmeric powder for the cooking,

and various items like that,
and then these vegetables also,

so that is what I
take to the evening school.

For the evening schools

is starting to close up

the mark of their Hindu gods

mark on their forehead.

They recite memory verses.

They tell these stories

which they have heard
before through their parents!

It's so amazing that God
is doing a miraculous thing!

children are being taught

everything they have to go

living Lord Jesus Christ.

When they lose something like
a pencil or a pen or an eraser,

my thing, please give."

And the mighty
thing is God is answering

those little
things for these children.

So their faith has
been growing day by day.

I thank the Lord for that.

Even if the
teacher forgets to pray,

the children will
remind the teacher

to pray before the food,

you know, because they
have been taught that way,

and it is blessing
to have these programs,

and it has brought a
big impact on the children

who attend
these evening schools.

There were a couple of
people from the society,

from the community
came and told the teacher

that the children who
come to the evening school

are better than the children

who don't come to
the evening school.

God is doing mighty things.

He is working
through these young people.

Our intention is the coming
generation will be a generation

which fears the living Lord,

were wanting to serve God.

And, you know, they saw

the leadership of Jesus for Asia

that we were
doing this by faith,

that we weren't wealthy,

you know, businessmen
that had deep pockets

and just give them
the money whenever,

you know, they need it.

They saw that we were
sacrificing to do this also,

already paid all of our salaries

After 10 years He has given them

a nice, beautiful house.

started her fasting
and praying ministry here,

and God has answered
all their prayers thus far.

And I loved what she says,
"I kept praying for my needs,

and I complained to my husband,"

and my husband says,

"Hey, I'm the servant
of God, you talk to Him."

And so she
started talking to God

and asking and God moved them
into a beautiful new apartment.

And we're going to
look a little bit about

some of the challenges

that they had in this old house.

Okay. Right now.

She came inside,
she was singing songs

and lifted up
yesterday's food and when she...

She could hear the
rats running here and there,

it was an unusual thing.

And then she just
came here, she saw...

They had a big
bureau, an old bureau here,

you know, a cot, a bureau

where they used
to keep their clothes

and all those things.

And she just saw a big
snake coming down the bureau

and it was just coming.

She just
screamed "Jesus Christ!"

And then, because he was there,

she shouted, "Please
come, I need your help!

A big snake is here!"

She said, "I want
you to hit the snake,

kill the snake.

Don't call anyone."

Because previously,
when they called some people

to help them to kill the snake,
they started speaking like

"See you people
are going to church

and you people, your house...

Are you feeding snake,
is the snake growing here,

you should go to a
river bring water, sprinkle."

They used to say those things.

So having that in her mind,

he was searching
for nearly one hour,

where is the snake?

The snake went somewhere,

and because they
had so many books

and so many things were here.

He saw the snake just crawled

in the corner
of that place there

when they removed those things,

you know, the
books and everything.

God only kept the snake
without moving anywhere.

As he was talking to me,

he said: "Even I
am scared of snake,

I was really scared that time.

If the snake would have moved,
I would have run outside."

But God made the
snake just sit idly.

Then he hit the
snake and killed the snake.

The length of the
snake is more than six feet.

Such a big hefty snake.

Was it a poisonous snake?

It didn't open the head
but it was a poisonous snake

because it was
dark black in color.

Three times a
snake have come inside.

She's very thankful to
the Lord for helping them,

preserving them from
all these dangerous things,

So they lived in
that place for 10 years.

Why would we want to
live with the snakes either.

bought a property

They said, "But wait,

in the city itself"

all these villages.

started another series

on at the same time
