after about five years?

Yeah, I met Jon
when, like perfect timing.

We had this youth
conference in 2008,

and a lot of young people
who fell in love with mission

gathered
together and we don't know

what to make of the
passion that we have.

And then, somehow,

media ministry
came up into the scene.

And before Jon
came to the Philippines

to my hometown,

there was a huge
typhoon that hit us.

I guess that was one
of the biggest typhoon

that ever hit us, and
it took like 5,000 lives,

devastated a lot of people.

And Jon was even thinking,

"What is in that place

that somehow the enemy was
quite angry at this people?"

And then somehow Jon
found out when he came,

he saw the
volunteers, he saw the work,

and that's where it all began.

We were trained
to handle camera,

to handle
computer which most of us

have not had any
experience before.

And it all started from there,

a lot of wonderful ministry
came out of that training.

God just continually led

for a Faith Camp Asia.

The faith camp is
one amazing revival camp

where speakers
that have experience,

that have been
immersed in the mission field

speak and share
their testimonies,

share how the
Lord has been faithful,

how the Lord
has led their lives,

and how the Lord
led the ministry.

And this faith camp was
held in 1000 Missionary Campus.

And I had one memory

that I could
never erase in my head

in that Faith Camp Asia.

Yeah, that's why we're here.

So that particular Sabbath,

I guess that was one
of our biggest faith camp

that we have experienced

more than a 1000
young, not just young people,

more than a 1000 people came.

And at the start
of that faith camp,

it was quite a blissful

since we are
located outside of the city,

but at the end
of Sabbath school,

our neighbor played
this huge, and loud,

and very disturbing music.

And we already in

at the end of the Sabbath school

about to segue
to divine worship,

and this loud music came out,

and the title of the
music is so disturbing,

"Highway to hell".

Oh, boy!

Just imagine,
having a Sabbath service

and listening to that music,

and the first thing
that we did was kneel down.

"Let us pray."

And we kept on
praying and praying.

Sometimes it will turn off.

And then when we
begin to do the service,

it came up again,
and again, and again,

and we were driven to our knees

so many times, so many
times that I stopped counting

after like five times.

And later on, one
of the speakers said,

"You know what, Lord,"

and he was
praying on the pulpit,

"If you will not give
us peace right now, please,
00:04:56.56\00:05:00.60
give us peace in the
middle of the storm."
00:05:00.63\00:05:03.90
So during that supposedly
discouraging situation,
00:05:03.93\00:05:10.14
it challenged us to
focus on the message.
00:05:10.17\00:05:13.27
It is amazing.
00:05:13.31\00:05:14.34
It went on, it did not stop

for the whole
divine service talk,

the music kept on blaring,
and blaring, and blaring.

It did not stop.

But what it did to us,

since we know that
the enemy is in it,

it was just like the great
controversy experience there.

God gave us a focus.

Yeah, God gave us a
focus that we did not have.

And people were even
more eager to listen,

and to block out the noise.

And peace in the middle of
the storm is really possible.

It's amazing. Yeah. Powerful.

And since we are
living in this cruel world,

in this chaotic
world, that's what we need,

has been wanting to give us

if we only but focus
on Him intentionally.

the next faith camp?

Oh, the next faith camp
is one of the most memorable.

That one was memorable
but this one was, I guess,

the most memorable for me.
00:06:17.91\00:06:19.24
Personally? Personally.

I did not even
want... Life changing?

Yup, life changing,
it's... What you call that?

Not even the
right word to describe.

It flipped my life around

because bit prior
to that faith camp,

I was really not having
this wonderful walk with God,

and it's quite strange

because we just
had an experience,

a wonderful revival experience.
00:06:46.23\00:06:48.30
And all of a sudden,

we have experienced
the attack of the enemies.

And I guess, this is
one thing that we miss out.

All the while we thought

that giving your life for
the Lord is always blissful.

No, there's always
going to be a storm

but the most amazing thing is,

if you humbly
hang on to the Lord,

there will be storm but
you will get through the storm,

and this is one thing I
guess that I have learned

that I did not
humbly come before God.

I did not even want
to go to this faith camp,
00:07:17.03\00:07:19.33
but somehow God made it
happen for me to go there.

I did not want to go
00:07:22.44\00:07:24.14
but the Lord made it
possible for me to go.

And there was
this part of faith camp

that I did not have
even a desire to go.

It's called the prayer room.

And a friend of
ours, Melissa Miranda

was the one leading it.

And when faith
camp began, she told me,

"Gem, I want you to be
part of the prayer room."

And for me, Natalie,

I didn't want to be
in one corner praying
00:07:51.93\00:07:56.74
because I'm like
an Energizer Bunny.

I'm an organizer by
nature, so I need to go around.

So for me to stay in one
place is like a waste of time.

My prayer life,
before it was like
00:08:07.45\00:08:09.12
five minutes total in one day
00:08:09.15\00:08:11.15
including prayer for food,
00:08:11.19\00:08:13.25
praying when you
get up in the morning,
00:08:13.29\00:08:15.76
and pray when you sleep.
00:08:15.79\00:08:18.36
And for me to
stay in the prayer room
00:08:18.39\00:08:20.86
all day was a horror.
00:08:20.90\00:08:23.03
And something just happened.

While I was there
in the prayer room,

remember, I
didn't want to be there.

I just knelt down,
me, my niece Kirsten,

and then
Melissa, the three of us.
00:08:33.44\00:08:35.68
And she wanted us to experience
what a prayer room looks like.

And the moment we knelt down,
00:08:39.41\00:08:41.48
imagine, I was
hesitating to be there.
00:08:41.52\00:08:44.55
When I began
praying, the short prayers
00:08:44.59\00:08:46.55
like bullet size
prayer, one to two sentence.
00:08:46.59\00:08:49.02
After the second
prayer that I prayed,
00:08:49.06\00:08:52.49
I broke down
00:08:52.53\00:08:54.30
because for the past like
five months prior to that,
00:08:54.30\00:08:57.53
I did not even
know how to talk to God.
00:08:57.57\00:09:00.44
There was this huge
breach between me and God.
00:09:00.47\00:09:03.77
It's because
self refused to die.
00:09:03.81\00:09:05.34
And all the while,

I thought that I was
already humbling myself,
00:09:06.44\00:09:08.88
but I didn't realize that I
was focusing so much on myself

that I neglected
the Lord's healing.

And in that prayer
room, I experienced healing.
00:09:16.35\00:09:20.29
That day when I was
kneeling before God,
00:09:20.32\00:09:24.16
when I begin praising God,
00:09:24.19\00:09:26.33
I begin to remember
how faithful God is,

how good God is.
00:09:29.66\00:09:31.30
I've been focused so
much on what happened

under pain, under hurt,
00:09:34.37\00:09:37.47
and the hurt
transformed into hatred...

Bitterness. Bitterness.
00:09:40.31\00:09:41.94
All the negativity was there.

But in the prayer room,

all those
things just broke down.

And that was the
beginning of my healing,

and I did not know...

So you could learn to forgive.

Oh, and this is one
thing that I have learned.

If I was not able to forgive,

I would not have moved
forward in the ministry.

The resentment
would have held me

the way it held me
for that five months,

and I was depressed.

Not most people doesn't
know that I was depressed

because, "Gem depressed? Ha-ha!"

But every time I go to my
room, that was the ugliest part

because that's the real me
coming in terms with the hurt,

with the resentment that I have.

And the prayer room
was a way that the Lord

has done to somehow

focus me back on
the real solution

and that is Him.

Lord. Praise God.

So that was the beginning

of the Lord
being able to use you.

wasn't a barrier built up.

experience something great,

And you know what I
did after that experience?

During that
experience, I'm seeing,

this is the reason
why that the Lord's work

has not been progressing

is because there's a
lot of barriers between us.

Most of us has different hurts
that we were not talking about,
00:11:08.23\00:11:11.00
that we're not dealing with,
00:11:11.03\00:11:12.77
and guess what, we
could not deal with it.

Only God can deal with it.

And I'm thinking,

if all of us are in
the position of humility,

and I had a picture of that

upper room
experience of the disciples,

I'm thinking, this is
what the church needs.

This is what our ministries,

our
institutions, our family needs.

If we come humbly before God

then the Holy
Spirit could be poured out,

and will do the work that
we are not capable of doing.

Right. So you know what I did?

I gathered the
people that I met,

like every time I see somebody,

"Hey, have you been
to the prayer room?"

They said, "What
is a prayer room?"
00:11:50.31\00:11:51.84
"Just come, just come."

And people that I don't
even recognize, just people...

People you
didn't know. Oh, yeah.

And this is, I guess,
one thing that we experience

when we have encountered Jesus.

If we really have
encountered Jesus,

we cannot keep it to ourselves.

So I went around,
and I guess we gathered

like 40 people in that attendee.

And people who did
not even planned to stay,

because they didn't have
plans of having dinner there,

and I was so burdened
that I'm even thinking,

"You know what?

If I have money,

I just want all of
them to stay for dinner

just so that
they will experience."

And guess what?

Those people who have
experienced in a prayer room

started the
ministry back in their homes.

And this is one thing
that Jesus for Asia did for us,

it propelled us to do
something for the Lord.

And to get to know
him better. Oh, yeah.

So the prayer room
at faith camp in Asia.

led some prayer rooms

at faith camp in the US,
and other places since then.

After that faith camp,

there named Maricel,

experienced the prayer room,

she could not stay away from it.

She has this
burden, now her burden,

it's not just for her family,
it's not just for herself.

Her burden was
for the university

where she's working at.

So she went to
that university pastor

and told him
that we need to have

a prayer revival
in our university.

Wow.

And this pastor was busy
with a lot of activities.

So he kept on ignoring her

but this lady
could not be stopped,

she kept on knocking on
his door until one time,

he got fed up, he gave in.

And that's where the
beginning of miracles.

It was such an
amazing experience,

seeing lives change,

seeing people gave
their lives to the Lord.

And not just gave
their lives to the Lord

and become a pew warmer,

they became not
just a thermometer,

but a thermostat.

thing that I've learned

inspired to do things for God.

And by kneeling down,

yourself before God,

now you know how
to equip yourself.

You could see that.

this particular lady

who came to the faith camp.

look like a faith camp goer.

She's decorated with
all the paraphernalias.

She has a lot of
things hanging on her body.

And then, but she
came and she came later on

because of the
title of our faith camp,

the theme of the faith camp
is just "the joy of surrender".

And she was studying the word.

At first, she was
studying the word "love"

and then she
studied the word "joy".

And somehow, a male
came into her house and said,

"The joy of surrender."

But this lady has
a very particular,

a very interesting background.

She was raised
as a missionary kid,

the Seventh-day Adventist.

But somehow there's been
a lot of painful experiences

in her family, inside the church
00:21:10.50\00:21:12.97
that she has been burnt
by a fellow church members.

And this is one sad thing.

Our church
should be a safe place

where we could somehow...

Help each other
and heal each other,

be a part of the
healings for the damage.

Yeah, lift each
other nearer to God.

But the sad thing
is, we spend more time

but instead of
praying for one another.

And this sister
has been hurt by that.

And when she came to faith camp,

she was quite afraid.

mentioning in her prayer,

in one of our corporate
prayer early in the morning,

I was so afraid to be here

because I would be
entering the lions' den."

And then she
said, "But I praise You,

I thank You that You
were in the lions' den."

Just imagine that.

That much fear. That much fear.

She came in.

when we were
kneeling down, I noticed that

she had only one
thing strapped on her neck,

and that was a broken heart.

And then, her face
changed from somebody
