background on Udumalpet.

Back in 2006, I went with
a pastor and some friends,

and he showed us
some different churches

that had been built
by another ministry,

but they hadn't been
able to hire Bible workers
00:02:15.43\00:02:18.20
to continue
working in these churches.

And so for many years,

they had been sitting
empty and padlock closed.

And we were looking for place
to do some evangelistic series,

and we saw these
churches and we thought,

"Wow, if we do
revivals in these churches,

that means we don't
have to build another church.

We don't have to
build more churches

and raise the
money to build churches."

So we just decided,

"Let's reopen these
churches, do evangelism in them

and then hire Bible
workers to continue monitoring

and nurturing the
people that go there.

started that in 2007.

time I went to Thailand,

I'm like, "Wow, this is

to Thailand from India,

this place is so modern."

So different, so
we took the team.

And God really moved, you know,
calling people specifically.

They heard His voice,

they were impressed with
certain passages of scripture

what their call was.

And so we went there,

different evangelistic teams.

Some of them are family,
some of them are individuals,

and we did evangelistic
series in six villages

surrounding the
center city of Udumalpet.

but it's got 500,000 people.

center where we stayed,

do some visitation and

Come home in the evening

sit around together,

and share notes, and
encourage each other,

have worship, and pray together.

It was a wonderful experience.

Had such a great team
that the Lord brought together,

really moved during that time.

But towards the end,

that evangelistic series,

the leaders came
to us and said, what?

Well, we're working for
all of these villages around

church in Udumalpet itself.

And he is going
around, we're with him,

visiting church members

and members of the community
that are from other churches

a wonderful time,

unburdening their hearts.

And so these Bible
workers are really effective.

I mean, look at him, he
is speaking their language

and if I was
here as a missionary,

it would take me several
years to learn the language.

And it wouldn't

It would cost quite a
bit more for me to live here.

moving in and out of the houses,

the traditional missionary,

And it would be
harder for them in some ways

to do that cross-cultural

than it would be for somebody
like from America to go.

And so there's still that need
for North American missionaries

of them would just leave

because we weren't able to
keep up every single month.

Sometimes, they
would get, you know,

two-thirds of their
salary, or half of their salary.

Some months, they would
skip their salary completely.

And I thought that
they would all leave

but they haven't.

And I've asked them,
"Why are you still here?"

And many of them will
say, "God first, money second."

was visiting the other places.
