Hello and welcome to Jesus for Asia NOW. 00:00:21.38\00:00:23.82 I'm Natalie Wood and I have my husband Jon here 00:00:23.85\00:00:26.02 with me on the show. 00:00:26.05\00:00:27.06 Honey, when Christ was here on earth, 00:00:27.09\00:00:28.79 how did He minister to people? 00:00:28.82\00:00:30.36 He spent a lot of His time meeting people's needs, 00:00:30.39\00:00:33.66 where their needs were. 00:00:33.70\00:00:34.86 And there is a quote about that in the ministry of healing. 00:00:34.93\00:00:37.30 "Christ's method alone will give true success 00:00:37.33\00:00:39.87 in reaching the people. 00:00:39.90\00:00:41.40 The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. 00:00:41.44\00:00:44.91 He showed His sympathy for them, 00:00:44.94\00:00:46.84 ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. 00:00:46.88\00:00:49.78 Then, he bade them, 'Follow me.' 00:00:49.81\00:00:51.58 So then, it's like a three-step process. 00:00:51.61\00:00:55.12 So Christ demonstrated in physical ways 00:00:55.15\00:00:58.45 that He had their best interest in His heart. 00:00:58.49\00:01:01.56 So He demonstrated something that was intangible 00:01:01.59\00:01:04.73 by something that was tangible. 00:01:04.76\00:01:07.13 So Jesus went out, He healed the people, 00:01:07.20\00:01:09.10 He did nice things for people 00:01:09.13\00:01:10.93 until He earned their confidence. 00:01:10.97\00:01:12.97 Honey, what project do we want to talk about today 00:01:13.00\00:01:15.60 that is an example of showing love in order to share Jesus? 00:01:15.64\00:01:20.74 Well, this is a project 00:01:20.78\00:01:21.81 that meets a very, very basic need, 00:01:21.84\00:01:24.95 so basic that we often just take it for granted 00:01:24.98\00:01:27.38 here in North America 00:01:27.42\00:01:29.28 and that is-- everyone needs to drink water 00:01:29.32\00:01:32.35 and use water in their everyday life. 00:01:32.39\00:01:34.79 So we're gonna talk about clean drinking water today? 00:01:34.82\00:01:37.49 Yes. 00:01:37.53\00:01:38.56 Because in many parts of world, 00:01:38.59\00:01:40.30 people don't have access to clean drinking water 00:01:40.33\00:01:42.60 and it's a really tough struggle. 00:01:42.63\00:01:44.67 We've been aware of this issue for a number of years, 00:01:44.70\00:01:47.04 but it wasn't until recently 00:01:47.07\00:01:48.67 that we could actually do something about it. 00:01:48.70\00:01:50.47 Yeah, you know, whenever we traveled to India, 00:01:50.51\00:01:52.61 we would look and see 00:01:52.64\00:01:53.68 how people were getting their water, 00:01:53.71\00:01:55.58 and especially, like when I went to Mumbai 00:01:55.61\00:01:57.88 and went to the slums 00:01:57.91\00:01:59.21 and saw people lining up with their little buckets 00:01:59.25\00:02:02.82 with water that came on once a day for a short time 00:02:02.85\00:02:06.39 and people get as much water as they could 00:02:06.42\00:02:08.32 and they would have to live 00:02:08.36\00:02:09.49 out of that water, 00:02:09.52\00:02:10.73 and then we went out to the country, 00:02:10.76\00:02:12.99 we did an evangelist series, 00:02:13.03\00:02:14.93 as you remember, with our family. 00:02:14.93\00:02:16.40 Yes. 00:02:16.43\00:02:17.50 And the people there were sharing with us 00:02:17.53\00:02:19.03 how difficult it was for them to have clean water 00:02:19.07\00:02:21.77 for cooking, for drinking. 00:02:21.80\00:02:24.07 This was a little village out in the middle of nowhere 00:02:24.11\00:02:26.78 and they were getting the government water also. 00:02:26.81\00:02:29.98 Well, we have a clip that kind of explains it. 00:02:30.01\00:02:32.18 Right. 00:02:32.21\00:02:33.28 Now this video is special 00:02:33.31\00:02:35.45 because what we did was we sent a team to India 00:02:35.48\00:02:38.02 to document what was going on there 00:02:38.05\00:02:40.12 and they were inspired to compare that 00:02:40.16\00:02:42.69 with our lives here in America. 00:02:42.72\00:02:44.69 So you'll see an American family 00:02:44.73\00:02:46.46 in this video 00:02:46.49\00:02:47.96 and they are challenged by the water situation in India 00:02:47.96\00:02:53.87 and it is bit of a perspective comparison. 00:02:53.90\00:02:56.84 It's entertaining, to say the least. 00:02:56.87\00:03:01.98 Water, we use it for many things 00:03:02.01\00:03:04.81 often without thinking about how much we use, 00:03:04.85\00:03:08.48 but what if your water was limited? 00:03:08.52\00:03:12.05 What if that water wasn't always safe to drink? 00:03:12.09\00:03:15.49 What If you only got access to water 00:03:15.52\00:03:18.06 a few times a month? 00:03:18.09\00:03:19.76 That's the situation with many villages in India 00:03:19.79\00:03:22.10 including this one. 00:03:22.13\00:03:24.63 I'm Kirk with Jesus for Asia. 00:03:29.40\00:03:31.44 And we're here to discover 00:03:31.47\00:03:33.21 what we can do to help these people 00:03:33.24\00:03:36.38 find consistently available pure water. 00:03:36.41\00:03:40.48 It's hard to imagine that 97 million people in India 00:04:18.02\00:04:22.42 lack access to safe water. 00:04:22.46\00:04:27.46 The second largest country in the world by population, 00:04:27.50\00:04:30.83 India is rich with culture and resources. 00:04:30.87\00:04:34.30 With a growing economy and advancing technology, 00:04:34.34\00:04:38.57 yet with such growth, 00:04:38.61\00:04:40.34 the nation as a whole faces a monumental challenge. 00:04:40.38\00:04:45.11 Jesus for Asia has many projects 00:04:45.15\00:04:47.42 throughout India 00:04:47.45\00:04:48.65 and we have realized that the need for clean water 00:04:48.68\00:04:52.05 is a huge evangelistic opportunity 00:04:52.09\00:04:55.26 to share the love of Jesus with these beautiful people. 00:04:55.29\00:04:59.53 So a team was sent to research 00:04:59.56\00:05:01.90 how we can help provide clean water to those in need. 00:05:01.93\00:05:07.34 Water is one of the most 00:05:07.37\00:05:09.04 basic needs of every human being on earth. 00:05:09.07\00:05:12.21 People understand that water is not optional. 00:05:12.24\00:05:15.24 It's a necessity. 00:05:15.28\00:05:17.11 That's why for thousands of years, 00:05:17.15\00:05:19.61 cities have been built near sources of fresh water, 00:05:19.65\00:05:24.55 but for the village of Bharathy Nagar, 00:05:24.59\00:05:26.55 there is no local water source. 00:05:26.59\00:05:29.36 The only source of fresh water comes from the government 00:05:29.39\00:05:32.49 and that is heavily rationed. 00:05:32.53\00:05:34.93 We asked Jesus for Asia India director Israel Prasad 00:05:34.96\00:05:38.80 to explain the situation to us. 00:05:38.83\00:05:41.94 In this village there is a lot of difficulty with the water, 00:05:45.14\00:05:49.54 getting good water, regular water. 00:05:49.58\00:05:52.41 Weekly once, they get government water, 00:05:52.45\00:05:55.48 and that to, it's only for one hour. 00:05:55.52\00:05:58.15 And that is not regular. 00:05:58.19\00:06:00.69 Sometimes they get and sometimes they don't get. 00:06:00.72\00:06:03.73 During the one hour time, 00:06:03.76\00:06:05.69 four families will take water in one tap. 00:06:05.73\00:06:08.36 So the first family will be taking 00:06:08.40\00:06:11.07 three pots of water. 00:06:11.10\00:06:13.10 And once they're done with three pots, 00:06:13.13\00:06:14.97 then the next family will be taking. 00:06:15.00\00:06:17.31 So it is like that with the four, 00:06:17.34\00:06:19.64 and by the time it comes to the next, 00:06:19.67\00:06:22.21 if the water is still coming, they'll go for the next round. 00:06:22.24\00:06:26.61 And then, if some more water comes, you know, 00:06:26.65\00:06:29.28 they will go for the third round. 00:06:29.32\00:06:30.85 Which means, per family, 00:06:30.89\00:06:33.19 the maximum water is 90 liters of water per week. 00:06:33.22\00:06:38.19 The whole week, they have to spend with that water only. 00:06:38.23\00:06:41.23 So that water is not only the water 00:06:41.26\00:06:43.70 that they cook with, it's the water they bathe with, 00:06:43.73\00:06:46.63 and the water they drink. 00:06:46.67\00:06:47.77 Yes, drink. They do. 00:06:47.80\00:06:49.17 That's not very much water. Yes. 00:06:49.20\00:06:50.91 They have a lot of difficulties. 00:06:50.94\00:06:54.51 Ninety liters of water is equivalent to 23.8 gallons. 00:06:54.54\00:06:59.95 But there are weeks they don't even get 90 liters. 00:07:00.05\00:07:06.45 We have to go walking and look for water. 00:07:06.49\00:07:09.76 They will go nearly 6 to 7 kilometers 00:07:09.79\00:07:12.99 to get good drinking water. 00:07:13.03\00:07:15.20 Wow. 00:07:15.23\00:07:16.23 Mostly, the ladies will go walking. 00:07:16.26\00:07:18.93 They keep one on their head, another one on their hip, 00:07:18.97\00:07:23.24 and they bring two at a time. 00:07:23.27\00:07:25.17 Now, that's pretty heavy. Very heavy. 00:07:25.21\00:07:27.78 Sometimes we find water close, 00:07:27.81\00:07:29.94 and sometimes we have to walk many kilometres to find water. 00:07:29.98\00:07:34.18 Oh, I just can't imagine. 00:07:34.22\00:07:35.52 I can't imagine doing that in the heat. 00:07:35.55\00:07:38.35 It's really difficult. 00:07:38.39\00:07:39.72 But anyhow, they have to survive, you know. 00:07:39.75\00:07:42.22 And they have to use their water 00:07:42.26\00:07:44.53 very sparingly, I would imagine. 00:07:44.56\00:07:46.19 Exactly. 00:07:46.23\00:07:47.20 You can imagine 90 liters of water for one week. 00:07:47.23\00:07:50.57 Washing and bathing are very challenging 00:07:50.60\00:07:53.34 with so little water. 00:07:53.37\00:07:56.77 Just think how much you appreciate 00:07:56.81\00:08:00.64 clean, pure drinking water. 00:08:00.68\00:08:03.61 How much do you appreciate 00:08:03.65\00:08:05.11 that you don't have to walk 7 kilometers 00:08:05.15\00:08:07.82 to go get water every day? 00:08:07.85\00:08:09.68 How much do you appreciate 00:08:09.72\00:08:11.92 that every time you turn on your tap, 00:08:11.95\00:08:13.79 you have water? 00:08:13.82\00:08:14.96 Well, this village, 00:08:14.99\00:08:16.02 as you have seen from our previous footage, 00:08:16.06\00:08:18.36 they don't have that luxury. 00:08:18.39\00:08:20.86 This should be a basic fundamental... 00:08:20.90\00:08:25.27 What am I trying to say? 00:08:25.30\00:08:26.70 This should be a need that everyone has met, 00:08:26.74\00:08:30.41 food and water. 00:08:30.44\00:08:31.71 Those are basic needs in life. 00:08:31.74\00:08:34.31 It's difficult for us to imagine a life like that. 00:08:34.34\00:08:40.55 I wanted to see what it would be like 00:08:40.58\00:08:42.42 for an American family 00:08:42.45\00:08:43.69 to live with the same amount of water 00:08:43.72\00:08:46.02 that the villagers in Bharathy Nagar get. 00:08:46.05\00:08:48.99 So I went to visit my good friends Brain and Chris 00:08:49.02\00:08:51.96 and their three children, Lillian, Sarah and Luke, 00:08:51.99\00:08:55.70 and challenged them to see if they could live 00:08:55.73\00:08:58.47 on such a limited supply of water. 00:08:58.50\00:09:01.94 The average American family of four uses 00:09:01.97\00:09:04.44 2,100 to 2,800 gallons of water per week. 00:09:04.47\00:09:08.98 That is equivalent to 300 to 400 gallons per day. 00:09:09.01\00:09:14.92 A family in Bharathy Nagar 00:09:14.95\00:09:16.55 gets a maximum of 90 liters of water a week, 00:09:16.58\00:09:20.09 which is equivalent to 23.8 gallons. 00:09:20.12\00:09:23.76 That is only 3.4 gallons a day. 00:09:23.79\00:09:30.00 One, two, three, 00:09:30.03\00:09:34.90 3.4 gallons of water a day. 00:09:34.94\00:09:41.84 For the whole family? For the whole family. 00:09:41.88\00:09:45.28 Can you survive your whole family 00:09:45.31\00:09:48.52 on 3.4 gallons of water for a day? 00:09:48.55\00:09:54.79 I don't know. How will we do that? 00:09:54.82\00:09:56.73 No dishwasher. 00:10:00.50\00:10:02.66 No laundry. 00:10:02.70\00:10:04.93 No showers. 00:10:04.97\00:10:07.40 No flushing the toilet. 00:10:07.44\00:10:09.24 We're not going to do anything? 00:10:09.27\00:10:11.51 Hello! 00:10:27.92\00:10:31.23 I've come to Bethel Children's Home in South India 00:10:36.30\00:10:39.43 because I heard they were having some trouble 00:10:39.47\00:10:41.44 with the water 00:10:41.47\00:10:42.64 and I wanted to find out from Israel Prasad 00:10:42.67\00:10:45.17 if the situation had improved. 00:10:45.21\00:10:48.01 We had water in this well 00:10:48.04\00:10:50.01 when I first came to see this property, 00:10:50.05\00:10:52.68 and later, it got fully dried up. 00:10:52.71\00:10:55.65 There was no water. 00:10:55.68\00:10:57.22 So there was a problem with the water. 00:10:57.25\00:10:59.72 Then we thought of putting a borewell, 00:10:59.75\00:11:02.92 you know, a deep well. 00:11:02.96\00:11:04.33 We went up to thousand feet, and there was no water. 00:11:04.36\00:11:07.96 And while drilling, it was just smoke. 00:11:08.00\00:11:11.20 Really? Yeah. 00:11:11.23\00:11:12.60 There was no water at all. 00:11:12.63\00:11:14.17 But, you know, we prayed, and the children prayed, 00:11:14.20\00:11:18.01 and so many prayed, God gave us water. 00:11:18.04\00:11:21.01 We have enough of water for the daily needs. 00:11:21.04\00:11:24.88 God gave them water because they prayed. 00:11:24.91\00:11:28.12 When at first, there was no water in the well, 00:11:28.15\00:11:30.35 a local witch doctor told them 00:11:30.39\00:11:32.02 that if they had let him perform a "puja," 00:11:32.05\00:11:34.62 there would have been water. 00:11:34.66\00:11:36.46 They refused and prayed to God. 00:11:36.49\00:11:39.23 And now they have water and the whole village knows 00:11:39.26\00:11:42.73 that it was their God who provided the water. 00:11:42.76\00:11:46.90 But unfortunately, it is little salty, you know, 00:11:46.94\00:11:49.80 it can't be used for drinking purposes, 00:11:49.84\00:11:52.51 for cooking purposes, you know. 00:11:52.54\00:11:54.34 Even sometimes, if you pour for the plants, 00:11:54.38\00:11:57.45 even the plants are not really growing up. 00:11:57.48\00:12:01.08 And we are still praying that God would change 00:12:01.12\00:12:03.49 that saltiness into tasty so that it will be useful 00:12:03.52\00:12:07.26 for the children and for the daily needs. 00:12:07.29\00:12:10.26 We have 16 orphans right now here. 00:12:10.29\00:12:13.29 And with the hopes of bringing in many more, 00:12:13.33\00:12:15.86 so we're going to need pure water for the orphans 00:12:15.90\00:12:20.44 and water for the agricultural needs 00:12:20.47\00:12:22.97 as well. 00:12:23.00\00:12:24.04 And Right now we are having a very difficult time 00:12:24.07\00:12:26.11 with this water, 00:12:26.14\00:12:27.18 because we are getting government water, 00:12:27.21\00:12:30.88 it comes once in a week sometimes. 00:12:30.91\00:12:33.95 And sometimes 15 days, once, it comes. 00:12:33.98\00:12:36.42 We cannot really rely on that. 00:12:36.45\00:12:39.65 And we are in need of good drinking water. 00:12:39.69\00:12:43.49 We would probably drink all of it, but, like, one. 00:12:52.70\00:12:55.97 We'd re-use the water for dishes, right? 00:12:56.00\00:12:59.54 What about rinsing them? 00:12:59.57\00:13:02.58 What about bathing? 00:13:02.61\00:13:05.18 Take a shower once a week. 00:13:05.21\00:13:08.92 And we'd save the water. 00:13:08.95\00:13:10.19 We'd all have to use the same bathing water, 00:13:10.22\00:13:13.69 unless we all used like this much. 00:13:13.72\00:13:16.73 I mean like, half of this. 00:13:16.76\00:13:19.29 And we would use... 00:13:19.33\00:13:20.46 How would you get the soap out of your hair? 00:13:20.50\00:13:21.83 Very carefully. 00:13:21.86\00:13:22.96 And we would use these two to drink. 00:13:23.00\00:13:25.10 And not to mention eating. 00:13:25.13\00:13:26.43 I mean, you have to have water to cook with. 00:13:26.47\00:13:30.17 One day you have to wash dishes for the week. 00:13:30.21\00:13:34.24 I don't how that works. 00:13:34.28\00:13:35.78 One day you have to take bath, 00:13:35.81\00:13:37.41 one day you have to wash all the laundry. 00:13:37.45\00:13:40.52 All the laundry in this? 00:13:40.55\00:13:42.42 Well, um, we need drink less that day. 00:13:42.45\00:13:44.82 Could we really wash all five outfits 00:13:44.85\00:13:47.59 in that much water? 00:13:47.62\00:13:50.63 We have to drink very less. 00:13:50.66\00:13:52.69 Now we have this part. 00:13:52.73\00:13:53.83 Now we have two. Okay. 00:13:53.86\00:13:55.46 So now we have this for flushing the toilet, 00:13:55.50\00:13:57.70 doing dishes, washing... 00:13:57.73\00:14:01.17 How long would you use one and a half of these. 00:14:03.51\00:14:05.81 Okay, so... 00:14:05.84\00:14:06.84 And how many times to we flush? 00:14:06.88\00:14:08.64 We can only do that once a day, maybe. 00:14:08.68\00:14:12.41 Well, I mean, you have to. 00:14:12.45\00:14:14.38 We could never flush the toilet, Mom. 00:14:14.42\00:14:16.55 Chris. 00:14:16.58\00:14:20.29 Do you want water or do you want the shovel? 00:14:20.32\00:14:24.16 Brian, how much water does this take to run? 00:14:29.83\00:14:32.87 Oh, probably only about 15 gallons. 00:14:32.90\00:14:35.44 Uh, won't do that. 00:14:35.47\00:14:37.84 So, honey, do you think, you could survive 00:15:03.50\00:15:05.57 with just that little amount of water? 00:15:05.60\00:15:07.40 Ooh. I know I would struggle. 00:15:07.44\00:15:09.44 Yeah, I can't imagine how you would manage 00:15:09.47\00:15:12.07 that little water for a whole week, for a family? 00:15:12.11\00:15:15.64 Incredible. Can you, as a woman? 00:15:15.68\00:15:17.31 No, no, I can't. 00:15:17.35\00:15:19.11 But you know, 00:15:19.15\00:15:20.22 the beautiful thing in that video 00:15:20.25\00:15:21.42 is they started talking about where to provide the water. 00:15:21.45\00:15:25.19 And that's one thing we want to point people to. 00:15:25.22\00:15:28.12 In Psalms 145:16, it says, "Thou openest thy hand, 00:15:28.16\00:15:31.79 and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. " 00:15:31.83\00:15:35.56 And so it's taking about where the provision comes from. 00:15:35.60\00:15:38.60 Thinking about that, 00:15:38.63\00:15:39.93 what about the birds and the animals? 00:15:39.97\00:15:42.70 I believe what the Psalms is still seeing 00:15:42.74\00:15:45.14 is that behind those mechanisms of feeding 00:15:45.17\00:15:48.48 is God designing a plan for these birds 00:15:48.51\00:15:52.61 or for these animals to get fed. 00:15:52.65\00:15:55.62 And so you see that God uses laws and rules and mechanisms 00:15:55.65\00:16:00.62 as His servants. 00:16:00.66\00:16:01.96 His tools. 00:16:01.99\00:16:03.09 And sometimes, God uses people to do His work as well. 00:16:03.12\00:16:07.83 What a privilege that is. It is a privilege. 00:16:07.86\00:16:10.00 He provides ways that we can enter 00:16:10.03\00:16:12.07 into His work of providing for His creation. 00:16:12.10\00:16:15.00 And as we enter in, then we enter into His heart 00:16:15.04\00:16:18.87 and we experience the same joy that He does. 00:16:18.91\00:16:20.88 Right. 00:16:20.91\00:16:21.94 And there is another verse that says, 00:16:21.98\00:16:23.68 "At you right hand are pleasures for evermore. " 00:16:23.71\00:16:27.68 And so it's like, His hand is there working 00:16:27.72\00:16:30.45 and His hand is there enjoying so we can be a part of that. 00:16:30.49\00:16:34.59 The greatest pleasure I've ever experienced 00:16:34.62\00:16:37.09 is doing God's work, 00:16:37.13\00:16:38.46 being a part of feeding God's kids. 00:16:38.49\00:16:40.53 And so I love the idea that this pastor came up with. 00:16:40.56\00:16:43.63 This village happens to have an SDA church in it. 00:16:43.67\00:16:47.17 So if we drill on the church's property, 00:16:47.20\00:16:49.37 the source of physical water is... 00:16:49.40\00:16:51.27 Very near to the source of... 00:16:51.31\00:16:53.04 The Water of Life. The Water of Life. 00:16:53.07\00:16:54.64 Exactly. 00:16:54.68\00:16:55.71 So it's a brilliant idea of a way to... 00:16:55.74\00:16:58.48 Encourage a relationship. 00:16:58.51\00:16:59.85 Yeah, 'cause the villagers 00:16:59.88\00:17:01.02 will be coming there every day, 00:17:01.05\00:17:02.68 and providing this water freely is a way 00:17:02.72\00:17:05.12 that they can serve the village. 00:17:05.15\00:17:07.29 Right, so the next section of video we want to share, 00:17:07.32\00:17:10.73 tell us about that. 00:17:10.76\00:17:11.76 The Lord has provided enough 00:17:11.79\00:17:13.80 that we can actually drill a well in this village. 00:17:13.83\00:17:16.36 And it's really exciting. 00:17:16.40\00:17:18.23 And the prayer that's involved with getting water in this well 00:17:18.27\00:17:22.34 is just really powerful. 00:17:22.37\00:17:25.77 Today is an exciting day 00:17:29.71\00:17:31.51 for the village of Bharathy Nagar. 00:17:31.55\00:17:33.92 Through the generous contributions of donors 00:17:33.95\00:17:36.28 in North America, 00:17:36.32\00:17:37.69 Jesus for Asia was able to hire a crew 00:17:37.72\00:17:40.76 to drill a well next to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. 00:17:40.79\00:17:45.23 A nearby Hindu temple 00:17:45.26\00:17:46.83 had attempted to drill a well seven months ago, 00:17:46.86\00:17:49.83 but they did not find any water. 00:17:49.86\00:17:52.77 We're praying earnestly 00:17:52.80\00:17:54.27 that God will provide water in our well 00:17:54.30\00:17:56.97 to be a witness to the whole village 00:17:57.01\00:17:59.41 of his power and love. 00:17:59.44\00:18:02.14 So this well that I know God is gonna bring water from today 00:18:36.54\00:18:41.92 is gonna make a huge impact on this village. 00:18:41.95\00:18:45.32 Definitely, yes. 00:18:45.35\00:18:47.39 It's going be a blessing for all the village people. 00:18:47.42\00:18:50.59 And that is the reason we have put this well here. 00:18:50.63\00:18:54.56 And our church is not going to be a church 00:18:54.60\00:18:58.60 only for Seventh-day Adventists. 00:18:58.63\00:19:01.04 It's going to be a place 00:19:01.07\00:19:03.47 where people will quench their thirst 00:19:03.51\00:19:05.94 from today on. 00:19:05.97\00:19:07.04 Wonderful. 00:19:07.08\00:19:08.08 So we thank the Lord for this beautiful project, 00:19:08.11\00:19:10.41 the vision for this project. 00:19:10.45\00:19:12.45 Absolutely, that's great. 00:19:12.48\00:19:13.75 I mean what a testimony it can be in this village, 00:19:13.78\00:19:17.85 where not everyone is a Christian. 00:19:17.89\00:19:19.69 Exactly, you're right. 00:19:19.72\00:19:21.29 It's going to bring a very good impact 00:19:21.32\00:19:24.06 on our church. 00:19:24.09\00:19:25.33 It sounds like we need to do this 00:19:25.36\00:19:27.00 in quite a few other villages. 00:19:27.03\00:19:28.30 Oh, yes. 00:19:28.33\00:19:29.43 There are so many other villages 00:19:29.46\00:19:31.07 where they don't have water. 00:19:31.10\00:19:32.43 Some places they have, but it's salty water, 00:19:32.47\00:19:35.34 but still people are using the same salty water. 00:19:35.37\00:19:38.77 So we're in need of more bores like this. 00:19:38.81\00:19:43.81 In Bharathy Nagar, 00:19:54.16\00:19:55.19 the borewell has been drilling for over seven hours 00:19:55.22\00:19:58.43 and scores of villagers have gathered 00:19:58.46\00:20:00.20 to watch the progress. 00:20:00.23\00:20:01.96 Two hundred and fifty feet down, 00:20:02.00\00:20:03.50 the drill struck water, 00:20:03.53\00:20:04.80 but it was not enough for a well, 00:20:04.83\00:20:06.90 so we had to keep drilling. 00:20:06.94\00:20:08.94 Since then, the drill has been spilling only dust. 00:20:08.97\00:20:12.61 And there is great worry that this well will also be dry 00:20:12.64\00:20:16.04 like the next to the Hindu temple. 00:20:16.08\00:20:18.88 Everyone is hoping and praying 00:20:18.91\00:20:21.05 that soon we will see a small change 00:20:21.08\00:20:23.45 in the color of the dust 00:20:23.49\00:20:25.15 indicating the presence of water. 00:20:25.19\00:20:28.99 Right now we are nearing about 760 feet. 00:20:29.02\00:20:33.29 And the dust which comes out is little wet, 00:20:33.33\00:20:36.97 and that's a very good sign. 00:20:37.00\00:20:39.03 When the borewell was drilling, 00:20:58.65\00:21:01.79 I just came to the backside of the church 00:21:01.82\00:21:05.49 to see those men who were drilling, 00:21:05.53\00:21:08.06 to talk to them, I was surprised to see, 00:21:08.10\00:21:11.67 there were two ladies at each side of the church, 00:21:11.70\00:21:15.54 crying bitterly, praying to the Lord 00:21:15.57\00:21:19.11 for the water. 00:21:19.14\00:21:21.74 You know, I was completely touched 00:21:21.78\00:21:24.85 because the whole church was praying. 00:21:24.88\00:21:28.25 Everyone was praying. 00:21:28.28\00:21:31.02 Because as you mentioned, 00:21:31.05\00:21:32.32 it is kind of like Satan didn't have water, 00:21:32.35\00:21:36.93 but the Living God, what is it with him, you know. 00:21:36.96\00:21:40.96 What is he going to do? 00:21:40.96\00:21:43.43 He did a miraculous thing. 00:21:43.47\00:21:45.50 We have prayed and prayed, not only one day or two days, 00:21:51.67\00:21:56.81 a very long time we prayed here in this chapel. 00:21:56.85\00:22:01.38 Really, God has answered our prayers. 00:22:01.42\00:22:05.79 Since we are praying here in faith, that faith, today, 00:22:05.82\00:22:12.46 we have seen with our eyes, 00:22:12.49\00:22:15.43 that bore well is already done here. 00:22:15.46\00:22:18.17 We will get water. Really, God is great. 00:22:18.20\00:22:22.27 He will help, not only with water, in every need, 00:22:22.30\00:22:26.41 our God will provide for us. 00:22:26.44\00:22:29.84 Unfortunately, we could not stay in the village 00:22:29.88\00:22:32.28 to taste the water, 00:22:32.31\00:22:33.72 but before we left for another area of India, 00:22:33.75\00:22:36.48 a couple of villagers came to our hotel 00:22:36.52\00:22:38.62 and brought a sample of the water 00:22:38.65\00:22:40.12 for Israel to taste. 00:22:40.16\00:22:42.19 The water is discolored 00:22:42.22\00:22:43.39 because of the grease from the drilling, 00:22:43.43\00:22:45.53 but all the greasy water will be pumped out 00:22:45.56\00:22:47.76 and it will be clear after that. 00:22:47.83\00:22:51.87 Is this water? 00:22:51.90\00:22:53.34 I mean a lot of the water x in India 00:22:53.37\00:22:55.37 can have a salty taste? 00:22:55.40\00:22:56.50 So you're gonna be able to determine 00:22:56.54\00:22:58.24 if this is salty or if it has sweet taste? 00:22:58.27\00:23:02.61 Yes. 00:23:02.64\00:23:04.01 Well, we're excited. Okay. 00:23:04.05\00:23:06.25 It is very nice, no salt, 00:23:10.12\00:23:12.85 only the grease taste was there. 00:23:12.89\00:23:15.02 You know, if all the grease and everything is gone, 00:23:15.06\00:23:18.06 the water is really tasty. 00:23:18.09\00:23:23.60 The Hindu people from across the street thought 00:23:23.63\00:23:26.03 we spent so much money but didn't find water, 00:23:26.07\00:23:29.37 but this morning, they saw the church members 00:23:29.40\00:23:31.57 letting a bottle down with a rope. 00:23:31.61\00:23:33.64 And when they pulled it up, there was water. 00:23:33.68\00:23:36.44 After the church member tasted the water, 00:23:36.48\00:23:39.01 a Hindu man tasted and said, 00:23:39.05\00:23:41.25 "Wow, it's nice drinking water. " 00:23:41.28\00:23:44.32 What an amazing witness for God, 00:23:44.35\00:23:47.46 despite the evidence that seemed to indicate 00:23:47.49\00:23:49.89 that drilling a well would be useless, 00:23:49.92\00:23:52.43 God blessed the faith and prayers of His people 00:23:52.46\00:23:55.86 by providing water in the well. 00:23:55.90\00:23:58.97 Pastor Gabriel is the minister 00:24:02.54\00:24:04.27 for Seventh-day Adventist church in Harur. 00:24:04.31\00:24:07.78 We asked him to explain in the potential impact 00:24:07.81\00:24:11.05 if we provide clean water for his village. 00:24:11.08\00:24:15.75 I think if we can drill a bore well 00:24:15.78\00:24:18.05 and purify the water and give to the people, 00:24:18.09\00:24:21.19 then through that, we can share the love of Jesus 00:24:21.22\00:24:24.49 and many people will turn from the world and follow Him. 00:24:24.53\00:24:28.60 I think of the Samaritan woman who met Jesus 00:24:28.63\00:24:31.20 while she went to get water. 00:24:31.23\00:24:32.97 And many people came to know about Him 00:24:33.00\00:24:35.17 because of her witness. 00:24:35.20\00:24:37.27 The same way, this place can be a blessing 00:24:37.31\00:24:40.24 if we have good water, 00:24:40.28\00:24:42.41 because the biggest need of this village is water. 00:24:42.44\00:24:46.01 If we give them good water 00:24:46.05\00:24:47.95 then they will be open to the gospel. 00:24:47.98\00:24:51.15 So when then pastor was talking 00:24:51.19\00:24:52.62 about the effectiveness of drilling a well 00:24:52.65\00:24:54.32 in his village 00:24:54.36\00:24:55.62 and how that would draw people to Jesus, 00:24:55.66\00:24:58.29 we can see that 00:24:58.33\00:24:59.49 the maximizing of the gospel outreach 00:24:59.53\00:25:02.90 as well as the temporal assistance. 00:25:02.93\00:25:05.63 This is something that would witness 00:25:05.67\00:25:07.70 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 00:25:07.74\00:25:09.94 You know, one thing I loved in that video is the testimony 00:25:09.97\00:25:13.31 that because the church members prayed, there was a difference. 00:25:13.34\00:25:17.55 The Hindu temple, they went way down 00:25:17.58\00:25:18.98 and didn't get any water. 00:25:19.01\00:25:20.75 And then the church members pray and they pray, 00:25:20.78\00:25:23.35 and it's obvious that they're praying 00:25:23.39\00:25:25.02 because they're standing there around the church 00:25:25.05\00:25:27.56 and the villagers know. 00:25:27.59\00:25:30.19 They see your God is strong. 00:25:30.23\00:25:31.76 Right. It's beautiful. 00:25:31.79\00:25:32.79 What a blessing. Yes. 00:25:32.83\00:25:33.86 You know, there are many more villages like that. 00:25:33.90\00:25:35.83 Thousands, thousands of villages out there 00:25:35.86\00:25:38.27 with a church that have the same problem 00:25:38.30\00:25:40.74 with not enough water, and so we can provide 00:25:40.77\00:25:43.17 for our brothers and sisters in Christ 00:25:43.20\00:25:45.41 as well as enabling them to be a bigger, 00:25:45.44\00:25:48.71 more active witness just by 00:25:48.74\00:25:50.25 opening that service up to the village. 00:25:50.28\00:25:52.25 Right. 00:25:52.28\00:25:53.25 And allowing them to be a part of the blessing. 00:25:53.28\00:25:55.68 So when the team came back, 00:25:55.72\00:25:57.19 this is what was on Kirk's heart. 00:25:57.22\00:26:00.99 Here in the "First World," our water supply is abundant. 00:26:01.02\00:26:05.09 As a matter of fact, my family and I use 00:26:05.13\00:26:07.96 more than 100 times the amount of water 00:26:08.00\00:26:11.03 that some families in India get in a day. 00:26:11.07\00:26:14.67 That got me thinking, 00:26:14.70\00:26:16.60 pure water is a basic human need, 00:26:16.64\00:26:19.07 as is the gospel. 00:26:19.11\00:26:21.01 No one should have to suffer for lack of water 00:26:21.04\00:26:24.65 or be poisoned by contaminated water, 00:26:24.68\00:26:27.22 especially the children. 00:26:27.25\00:26:29.42 Yet our brothers and sisters are suffering these dangers. 00:26:29.45\00:26:34.29 The water crisis in India 00:26:34.32\00:26:36.32 is a tremendous evangelistic opportunity 00:26:36.36\00:26:39.56 for the 97 million people 00:26:39.59\00:26:41.96 who lack access to pure water and a saving knowledge 00:26:42.00\00:26:46.30 of their only hope Jesus Christ. 00:26:46.33\00:26:49.20 While their biggest felt need is water, 00:26:49.24\00:26:51.71 the greater need is Christ. 00:26:51.74\00:26:54.21 While here on earth, He spent most of His ministry 00:26:54.24\00:26:57.58 meeting the felt needs of the people. 00:26:57.61\00:27:00.15 After winning their confidence, 00:27:00.18\00:27:01.85 they were then open to hear His teachings. 00:27:01.88\00:27:05.12 In providing pure water, 00:27:05.15\00:27:07.26 we're following Christ's example 00:27:07.29\00:27:09.32 by meeting their needs. 00:27:09.36\00:27:11.26 His love is seen in our actions and their hearts are softened, 00:27:11.29\00:27:16.13 the walls of prejudice are broken down. 00:27:16.16\00:27:19.33 When we drill a well on church property, 00:27:19.37\00:27:22.24 everyone who goes there to satisfy their thirst 00:27:22.27\00:27:25.81 is made aware of a greater thirst 00:27:25.84\00:27:28.94 that only Christ can quench. 00:27:28.98\00:27:32.31 We're so thankful for the donors 00:27:32.35\00:27:34.38 that made this well in Bharathy Nagar possible. 00:27:34.42\00:27:37.95 But many more need to be drilled 00:27:37.99\00:27:40.22 and more research is needed on water purification systems. 00:27:40.26\00:27:44.76 Please consider partnering with us today 00:27:44.79\00:27:48.03 to help meet both the physical and spiritual crises 00:27:48.06\00:27:52.00 that these many villages in India face. 00:27:52.03\00:27:56.37 If you would like to help provide the people in India 00:27:56.40\00:27:58.61 with abundant clear water, 00:27:58.64\00:28:00.34 please contact us at 413-7321. 00:28:00.38\00:28:04.18 You can also send your tax deductible love gift 00:28:04.21\00:28:06.38 to Jesus for Asia, PO Box 1221, Collegedale, TN 37315. 00:28:06.41\00:28:11.85 Or check out our website at Jesus4Asia. org. 00:28:11.89\00:28:15.29 God bless you 00:28:15.32\00:28:16.39 until we see you again next time 00:28:16.42\00:28:18.53 on Jesus for Asia Now. 00:28:18.56\00:28:20.43
