Praise the Lord, everyone, 00:00:14.34\00:00:16.21 welcome to Imperative Life Lessons, 00:00:16.24\00:00:19.48 I'm Pastor Ryan Johnson. 00:00:19.51\00:00:21.45 It was my very first Sabbath as pastor of the church. 00:00:21.48\00:00:25.82 In fact, they would be intro- ducing me that very morning. 00:00:25.85\00:00:30.63 So on this end, I were among the first to arrive, we shook hands 00:00:30.66\00:00:35.33 with the deacon and made our way to the main room 00:00:35.36\00:00:38.20 where Sabbath School would soon begin. 00:00:38.23\00:00:40.30 Sabbath School is sort of an early morning teaching 00:00:40.34\00:00:44.24 and discussion session. 00:00:44.27\00:00:45.87 We get into the Word, and I wanted to be supportive 00:00:45.91\00:00:48.84 but not overly obvious in the class. 00:00:48.88\00:00:51.91 There was plenty of time to speak out later 00:00:51.95\00:00:54.32 but the lesson was very engaging they were discussing the various 00:00:54.35\00:00:59.99 miraculous resurrections of scripture and Anissa and I 00:01:00.02\00:01:03.22 silently, supportively, appreciated the vigorous 00:01:03.26\00:01:07.96 back and forth among the attendees. 00:01:08.00\00:01:10.57 Eventually, the hotly contested question became whether or not 00:01:10.60\00:01:17.04 people of today would have considered the resurrections 00:01:17.07\00:01:21.74 in the Bible to be actual miracles? 00:01:21.78\00:01:24.48 Have the resurrected individuals really been dead? 00:01:24.51\00:01:27.68 Maybe they'd only been in a coma, hmm? 00:01:27.72\00:01:31.72 And of course, the case of Lazarus was brought forward. 00:01:31.75\00:01:35.72 In which instance it had been four days since death 00:01:35.76\00:01:40.40 and he reportedly smelled of decay. 00:01:40.43\00:01:42.76 So, it was reaffirmed, the resurrections in the Bible 00:01:42.80\00:01:46.84 are genuine. 00:01:46.87\00:01:48.20 And then suddenly, the teacher pointed directly at me 00:01:48.24\00:01:54.44 and he demanded, pastor, well, so much for silent support. 00:01:54.48\00:01:59.11 Pastor, Preacher, why do we not see resurrections today? 00:01:59.15\00:02:05.25 Where are they now? 00:02:05.29\00:02:08.12 That's a great question. 00:02:08.16\00:02:10.56 And the easy response is something like, well, God uses 00:02:10.59\00:02:14.90 healthcare professionals as His angels to facilitate 00:02:14.93\00:02:18.60 resurrection through their medical care. 00:02:18.63\00:02:21.24 And while that is a true answer, I also felt like its 00:02:21.27\00:02:25.77 dodging the question which in essence was 00:02:25.81\00:02:29.71 does God still do miraculous things today? 00:02:29.74\00:02:32.45 And this calling out leads down a path of study 00:02:32.48\00:02:36.69 like us to experience together 00:02:36.72\00:02:39.35 for God is indeed still resurrecting people. 00:02:39.39\00:02:44.06 Father in heaven, be with us as we examine what You can do 00:02:44.09\00:02:50.27 in our lives. Resurrect us, Lord,in thy name we pray. 00:02:50.30\00:02:54.20 Amen and Amen. 00:02:54.24\00:02:56.37 The Bible Chronicles several resurrections, 00:02:56.40\00:02:59.47 Moses was resurrected, he died in Deuteronomy 00:02:59.51\00:03:03.35 yet he appears to Jesus and the disciples in Luke 00:03:03.38\00:03:07.22 chapter nine, verses 30 and 31. 00:03:07.25\00:03:09.18 Now, in Jude chapter 1, verse 9 it even states that the 00:03:09.22\00:03:13.05 devil tried to prevent Moses from being resurrected, 00:03:13.09\00:03:16.52 you should check that out. 00:03:16.56\00:03:17.89 Elijah prayed and resurrected a boy, Elisha, did as well, 00:03:17.93\00:03:23.57 Jesus resurrected a girl, resurrected a son, 00:03:23.60\00:03:27.04 resurrected Lazarus and others at His crucifixion 00:03:27.07\00:03:31.17 and there was some resurrected when He came back from the dead. 00:03:31.21\00:03:35.18 So, of course, Christ Himself rose from the grave, 00:03:35.21\00:03:38.25 that's a resurrection on the third day following His 00:03:38.28\00:03:40.98 crucifixion. Later in the Bible Dorcas was raised. 00:03:41.02\00:03:44.95 A fallen boy was raised, the dead in Christ shall be raised 00:03:44.99\00:03:49.46 praise His name, according to 1Thessalonians 00:03:49.49\00:03:51.83 chapter four and the Bible continues, 00:03:51.86\00:03:54.20 but as many as these are resurrection is never so routine 00:03:54.23\00:03:59.77 in scripture as to be discussed in common terms 00:03:59.80\00:04:03.71 it's always a big deal whether it is a spiritual or physical 00:04:03.74\00:04:09.21 resurrection, it's always considered the 00:04:09.24\00:04:12.05 ultimate of miracles. 00:04:12.08\00:04:13.52 Alright, so what is a resurrection? 00:04:13.55\00:04:17.62 The New Testament word for resurrection literally means 00:04:17.65\00:04:23.69 to stand up again. To have been down but to now be on one's 00:04:23.73\00:04:29.43 feet. You know, Jesus says in John chapter 11 and verse 25... 00:04:29.46\00:04:34.97 So Jesus defines resurrection as though he were dead 00:04:44.15\00:04:48.95 yet shall he live. 00:04:48.98\00:04:50.72 Jesus further defines resurrection in Revelation 00:04:50.75\00:04:54.92 chapter one and verse 18 where it says... 00:04:54.96\00:04:58.39 First, let's appreciate Jesus saying Amen to Himself 00:05:08.40\00:05:11.57 I love it. And Jesus says the resurrection is me. 00:05:11.61\00:05:16.04 And this is why there are no stories of Satan 00:05:16.08\00:05:19.95 resurrecting anybody. 00:05:19.98\00:05:21.32 Christ and no one else is the resurrection. 00:05:21.35\00:05:24.85 So, that's resurrection as Jesus defines it. 00:05:24.89\00:05:28.42 In the Old Testament, Daniel uses the word awake 00:05:28.46\00:05:34.10 to describe resurrection in chapter 12 and verse two. 00:05:34.13\00:05:37.07 David discusses being revived in Plasm 71. 00:05:37.10\00:05:42.57 It's clear from scripture that for true resurrection to occur 00:05:42.60\00:05:47.78 one must firstly have been dead. 00:05:47.81\00:05:52.05 Dead, then alive again, resurrection, praise the Lord. 00:05:52.08\00:05:58.09 I'd like to discuss my favorite resurrection in scripture, 00:05:58.12\00:06:02.89 but first, let's discuss what it means to be dead. 00:06:02.92\00:06:07.76 Now there are obvious cases of death, 00:06:07.80\00:06:10.70 times when there is no question about a person's vital state. 00:06:10.73\00:06:14.97 There was clearly no life, but still for the purposes of this 00:06:15.00\00:06:18.87 study, it's interesting to follow the medical history 00:06:18.91\00:06:23.18 of what defined death. 00:06:23.21\00:06:26.31 Back in the day, if a person was not breathing, 00:06:26.35\00:06:30.49 they were considered dead, and you've heard 00:06:30.52\00:06:33.15 stories like this. Someone is sick or injured and 00:06:33.19\00:06:36.42 they stop breathing, right? 00:06:36.46\00:06:38.09 And along comes the local medical person, and they 00:06:38.13\00:06:41.36 hold a mirror to the lips of the ailing individual. 00:06:41.40\00:06:44.63 And if there is no fog or breath on the mirror, 00:06:44.67\00:06:48.34 then they declare the person to be dead. 00:06:48.37\00:06:50.64 They're dead, and I know this sounds ridiculous 00:06:50.67\00:06:53.54 because even a young person in nursery school 00:06:53.58\00:06:55.94 knows that just because one isn't breathing, 00:06:55.98\00:06:58.81 that doesn't mean all life has been lost. 00:06:58.85\00:07:01.85 They could be choking or they could just need to be 00:07:01.88\00:07:05.02 rolled onto their side or some other intervention 00:07:05.05\00:07:08.79 and the person may start to breathe again. 00:07:08.82\00:07:12.13 In First-Aid, one is taught to check the airway first 00:07:12.16\00:07:16.60 isn't that right? 00:07:16.63\00:07:17.97 But because of their limited knowledge, people were often 00:07:18.00\00:07:22.14 buried, though they had not yet actually died. 00:07:22.17\00:07:26.64 Occasionally, occasionally, an exhuming of a previously 00:07:26.68\00:07:32.48 buried individual was necessary and upon exhumation, 00:07:32.51\00:07:36.95 the body would sometimes be in a position in which 00:07:36.99\00:07:40.99 they were not buried. 00:07:41.02\00:07:42.36 Proving that they haven't actually been dead yet 00:07:42.39\00:07:45.53 and they had rolled over in their illness or their panic. 00:07:45.56\00:07:50.00 Does that sound awful? 00:07:50.03\00:07:51.40 They thought it was awful too, so much so that it became 00:07:51.43\00:07:55.84 the fashion of the time to create graves with twine 00:07:55.87\00:08:00.78 inside the coffin connected to a bell on the surface 00:08:00.81\00:08:05.85 and the idea was that if one awoke to find himself 00:08:05.88\00:08:09.15 or herself buried alive, they could ring that bell 00:08:09.18\00:08:12.12 so that help would come. 00:08:12.15\00:08:13.62 And there are no records of this ever happening 00:08:13.66\00:08:17.23 but it helped allay the fears of people who didn't want to be 00:08:17.26\00:08:21.80 buried alive. By the way, are you spiritually 00:08:21.83\00:08:27.27 unable to breathe? Are you choking on the awfulness 00:08:27.30\00:08:32.04 the enemy is shoving at ya? 00:08:32.07\00:08:33.58 You know Ezekiel chapter 37, and verse says... 00:08:33.61\00:08:38.61 The Word brings breath my friend, resurrection, 00:08:50.69\00:08:54.40 laughter, well, later in history people thought that if a persons 00:08:54.43\00:09:00.30 heart stopped beating, and they were definitely dead... 00:09:00.34\00:09:03.51 So, imagine with me, this is rough, but imagine with me 00:09:03.54\00:09:07.01 a person's walking down the street and they fall over 00:09:07.04\00:09:09.61 unconscious, the medical professional runs our 00:09:09.64\00:09:13.15 and puts an ear to the chest of the ailing individual. 00:09:13.18\00:09:17.42 They may even get fancy and feel for the radial arterial 00:09:17.45\00:09:23.19 pulse on the wrist, and if they feel nothing, 00:09:23.22\00:09:25.89 then they declare the person to be dead 00:09:25.93\00:09:28.40 And of course, we know about things like chest compressions 00:09:28.43\00:09:32.33 and CPR, huh, just because the heart is not beating 00:09:32.37\00:09:36.37 doesn't mean the person does not have life in them. 00:09:36.40\00:09:40.61 Now, it's an exhausting procedure but someone can 00:09:40.64\00:09:45.58 compress the chest, allowing blood to circulate and if help 00:09:45.61\00:09:50.09 arrives that person can live. 00:09:50.12\00:09:51.79 Yeah, hey, has your heart stopped beating spiritually? 00:09:51.85\00:09:58.99 Are you in need of the Lord to press on ya and work with ya? 00:09:59.03\00:10:05.00 Might you even need a heart transplant? 00:10:05.03\00:10:08.74 You know our God is a spiritual cardiologist. 00:10:08.77\00:10:12.84 David says in Psalms 51:10, Create in me a clean heart 00:10:12.87\00:10:17.58 oh God, renew a right spirit within me, resurrection, 00:10:17.61\00:10:22.88 and then finally medicine reached the point where we had 00:10:22.92\00:10:29.99 the technology to measure the electrical activity of the brain 00:10:30.03\00:10:33.73 and now, if a person has no brain activity, 00:10:33.76\00:10:37.23 we say that person is dead. 00:10:37.27\00:10:40.34 But there's an article that came out in the New York Times 00:10:40.37\00:10:44.11 from 2011 showing that sometimes you can give certain medications 00:10:44.14\00:10:50.91 who are near brain death and they may revive. 00:10:50.95\00:10:57.82 Oh friend, are you spiritually brain dead? 00:10:57.85\00:11:02.86 I was doing a week of prayer and so many students came up 00:11:02.89\00:11:06.90 to me and said, pastor, I don't feel anything, 00:11:06.93\00:11:10.03 I can't feel God moving, I feel so depressed, 00:11:10.07\00:11:14.20 so many people need to feel God. 00:11:14.24\00:11:17.51 Well, let's take a look at the power of the spirit 00:11:17.54\00:11:21.61 to revive even the brain dead spiritually among us. 00:11:21.64\00:11:29.12 My favorite story of resurrection is found in the 00:11:29.22\00:11:33.99 second book of Kings, chapter 13, let's begin in verse 20... 00:11:34.02\00:11:40.60 Elisha was a spirit-filled prophet of the Lord 00:11:51.64\00:11:54.91 who had served as God's messenger to Israel 00:11:54.94\00:11:58.41 and after his days were complete, he died. 00:11:58.45\00:12:02.22 Now, in order to appreciate what happens next, 00:12:02.25\00:12:06.02 we have to understand some ancient Jewish burial practices. 00:12:06.05\00:12:10.43 When someone died, they would clean the body and preform 00:12:10.46\00:12:15.06 the funeral rites, then they would place the body in a tomb 00:12:15.10\00:12:20.87 a cave or an earthen recess where animal and other invaders 00:12:20.90\00:12:25.47 could not desecrate the body. 00:12:25.51\00:12:26.98 And this meant placing a rock or some other seal over the 00:12:27.01\00:12:31.55 opening. You will recall in John chapter 11, when 00:12:31.58\00:12:35.32 Lazarus was entombed, Jesus requested that the stone be 00:12:35.35\00:12:39.65 rolled away, remember that? 00:12:39.69\00:12:41.82 So, after placing the body inside, the family would 00:12:41.86\00:12:46.16 allow it to remain in the tomb for about a year. 00:12:46.19\00:12:50.13 And following this, they would re-enter the tomb and they would 00:12:50.17\00:12:55.17 collect the bones and these bones would be placed 00:12:55.20\00:12:59.04 in a special stone or clay container called an ossuary 00:12:59.07\00:13:05.45 and the ossuary would then be etched with the name of 00:13:05.48\00:13:10.29 the deceased before finally being placed with the ossuaries 00:13:10.32\00:13:15.89 of their ancestors. 00:13:15.92\00:13:17.96 That's how they would do it. Now, with this knowledge 00:13:17.99\00:13:20.93 we can appreciate what is happening in 2 Kings chapter 13 00:13:20.96\00:13:26.84 and verse 20. Elisha has died and has been placed 00:13:26.87\00:13:32.64 in the tomb to await having his bones placed in an ossuary. 00:13:32.67\00:13:37.95 And the Bible reports that the Moabites, a tribe whom the 00:13:37.98\00:13:43.18 Israelites had been at war with for some time invaded the land. 00:13:43.22\00:13:48.26 Now, according to history, it was typical of the Moabites 00:13:48.29\00:13:52.56 to do their raiding during spring at the beginning of the 00:13:52.59\00:13:57.13 ancient Jewish year, which was the month of Nissan. 00:13:57.17\00:14:00.27 Or around our March, but, while this was the start 00:14:00.30\00:14:05.31 of a New Year, Elisha's body hadn't been in the tomb 00:14:05.34\00:14:09.81 for an entire 360 days, that's how they did it, 00:14:09.84\00:14:13.72 time required before it's replacement in the Ossuary. 00:14:13.75\00:14:18.15 It was still lying out in the sepulcher, and this is how 00:14:18.19\00:14:23.02 the next part of the story occurs. I love this. 00:14:23.06\00:14:26.49 2 Kings chapter 13 verse 21... 00:14:26.53\00:14:29.56 So, according to scripture sometime after Elisha died 00:14:51.65\00:14:56.93 they were having another funeral for somebody else 00:14:56.96\00:14:59.79 when an armed band of Moabite raiders was spotted 00:14:59.83\00:15:04.83 and of course that wasn't good, so they hastily placed the 00:15:04.87\00:15:09.47 dead man's body in the sepulcher where Elisha's 00:15:09.50\00:15:13.17 bones were still laid out and I suppose they intended to 00:15:13.21\00:15:16.91 return later to place the man in its proper place. 00:15:16.95\00:15:20.25 But however, when the dead body contacted Elisha's bones 00:15:20.28\00:15:25.25 he revived and stood on his feet. 00:15:25.29\00:15:28.19 Resurrection! 00:15:28.22\00:15:29.82 It's amazing isn't it? It is. 00:15:29.86\00:15:31.66 But why, why did this happen? Some may say, well, 00:15:31.69\00:15:40.10 it's because they were Elisha's bones, that's why. 00:15:40.14\00:15:43.94 But is that so? 00:15:43.97\00:15:45.47 Was there any inherent power in the bones? 00:15:48.61\00:15:50.11 Was this some kind of magical manifestation? 00:15:50.15\00:15:53.82 No, this wasn't magic; there's no magic. 00:15:53.85\00:15:57.69 This was God. I tell you what, let's break it down. 00:15:57.72\00:16:04.09 Do you remember what Ezekiel 4 and 5 said? 00:16:04.13\00:16:08.23 Hear the word of the Lord, thus saith the Lord God 00:16:08.26\00:16:12.80 unto these bones, behold I will cause breath to enter 00:16:12.83\00:16:16.94 into you and ye shall live. 00:16:16.97\00:16:19.81 The word, the Lord God brings breath, my friend, 00:16:19.84\00:16:25.11 resurrections, the bones ain't got no power. Now, you may 00:16:25.15\00:16:29.18 wonder, if it was God, then why was God in the bones? 00:16:29.22\00:16:34.52 This is why I love this story so much. 00:16:34.56\00:16:38.29 To answer that, let's take a brief look into who Elisha was. 00:16:38.33\00:16:45.97 Elisha first appears in the Bible in 1 Kings chapter 19, 00:16:46.00\00:16:52.64 when God is talking to Elijah, let's look at it together, 00:16:52.67\00:16:57.78 Verse 15... 00:16:57.81\00:16:59.31 The literal translation is, in your place. So Elisha 00:17:34.38\00:17:41.66 was designated by God to replace Elijah the prophet. 00:17:41.69\00:17:47.46 Let's read their first interactions, verse 19... 00:17:47.50\00:17:51.73 The prophet Elijah calls Elisha from the field. 00:18:27.57\00:18:32.84 You know, there's something spiritual here? 00:18:32.87\00:18:35.38 In the Bible, working in the field often represents 00:18:35.41\00:18:39.41 doing God's work and my daddy always taught me that 00:18:39.45\00:18:43.99 when searching for, say, an elder don't ask who 00:18:44.02\00:18:48.06 can do the work, but rather ask, who is doing the work? 00:18:48.12\00:18:52.09 Here, Elisha was doing the work and God calls him through 00:18:52.13\00:18:58.90 Elijah. So, Elisha was the apprentice of Elijah. 00:18:58.93\00:19:04.04 Let's jump to where Elijah is taken up to heaven by 00:19:04.07\00:19:09.51 God and Elisha become the senior prophet, shall we? 00:19:09.54\00:19:14.65 2 Kings chapter two and verse one... 00:19:14.68\00:19:19.65 Before Elijah leaves, he asks his student what he would 00:20:05.20\00:20:09.47 like him to pray for and rather than riches or glory 00:20:09.50\00:20:12.81 or infinite respect Elisha asks for a double portion 00:20:12.84\00:20:17.58 of the Holy Spirit that Elijah had with him. 00:20:17.61\00:20:21.58 Now, mind you, Elijah was a mighty prophet, 00:20:21.62\00:20:24.22 he had stood before kings, he had prophesied 00:20:24.25\00:20:28.09 the ceasing of rain, he had called fire down from heaven 00:20:28.12\00:20:32.59 yet Elisha prayed for twice the spirit and power from God. 00:20:32.63\00:20:36.93 Hmmm, let's read on verse 10 and he said... 00:20:36.97\00:20:40.94 Elijah says that if God chooses to let His student witness 00:21:27.88\00:21:32.05 his transport to heaven that would be the sign that God 00:21:32.09\00:21:36.06 indeed, grant him that double portion of His Holy Spirit 00:21:36.09\00:21:39.93 and power. And does Elisha see it? 00:21:39.96\00:21:42.80 Does he see the chariots of fire and the whirlwind? 00:21:42.83\00:21:46.33 Yes, he does. Which means Elisha received the double spirit 00:21:46.37\00:21:51.31 he received so much Holy Ghost in fact that even after a 00:21:51.34\00:21:56.28 successful ministry as the prophet when he died 00:21:56.31\00:21:59.81 the Holy Ghost was still with his bones. 00:21:59.85\00:22:02.98 Such that when a dead man touched his bones, 00:22:03.02\00:22:06.32 the power of the Holy Ghost was still working 00:22:06.35\00:22:09.62 and brought that man back to life. 00:22:09.66\00:22:12.23 Just a lesson here, huh, as long as God is working with His 00:22:12.26\00:22:19.23 people, as long as the Holy Ghost is working among us 00:22:19.27\00:22:23.24 resurrections will occur. 00:22:23.27\00:22:25.74 A few years ago, we had pipe burst at our home in Tennessee 00:22:25.77\00:22:33.08 fortunately, my little brother Rodney is a contractor 00:22:33.11\00:22:36.85 so he sent some of his employees to help us out. 00:22:36.89\00:22:40.76 Since the damage was so extensive in order to save money 00:22:40.79\00:22:44.76 Anissa and the kids stayed with my in-laws 00:22:44.79\00:22:47.90 while I remained at a local hotel with some of those 00:22:47.93\00:22:51.57 repair men. 00:22:51.60\00:22:52.93 And they would rise early each morning to work on the house 00:22:52.97\00:22:57.01 while I would study. 00:22:57.04\00:22:58.47 Each evening, we would convene and have the most interesting 00:22:58.51\00:23:03.75 conversations. Now because there was a language barrier 00:23:03.78\00:23:07.05 we used Google translate to talk about everything. 00:23:07.08\00:23:10.95 One evening, Hector, my new friend told me the story 00:23:10.99\00:23:16.22 or how his brother was working at a construction site 00:23:16.26\00:23:19.59 when a falling hammer struck him in the head and killed him. 00:23:19.63\00:23:23.97 For a day and a half, his family mourned until at last 00:23:24.00\00:23:28.00 it was time for the funeral. 00:23:28.04\00:23:29.37 They put him in a box and carried him toward the cemetery 00:23:29.40\00:23:33.41 Hector himself was one of the pallbearers. 00:23:33.44\00:23:36.88 Before committal the preacher allowed one more viewing 00:23:36.91\00:23:41.45 of the body and suddenly, the dead man sat up 00:23:41.48\00:23:47.19 saw his surroundings and began praising God. 00:23:47.22\00:23:51.36 And at first, Hector said he was afraid, but today he is 00:23:51.39\00:23:55.96 convinced his brother was resurrected. 00:23:56.00\00:23:59.47 Now, admittedly, the scientist in me wanted to doubt the 00:23:59.50\00:24:04.71 story, was he really dead? 00:24:04.74\00:24:07.28 I mean, really, really, and then the preacher in me spoke up 00:24:07.31\00:24:12.25 and asked pastor, what good does your doubt do? 00:24:12.28\00:24:17.15 Is God not God? Have you yourself not witnessed 00:24:17.19\00:24:22.82 mighty things? And I had to admit I have. 00:24:22.86\00:24:27.10 I wonder, one reason we might not see resurrections any more 00:24:27.13\00:24:32.57 it's because we don't have the faith to recognize them, 00:24:32.60\00:24:35.94 for is not the Holy Spirit still working? 00:24:35.97\00:24:39.21 Of course he is. So years later there we were in the 00:24:39.24\00:24:46.01 early morning Sabbath School on my first Sabbath 00:24:46.05\00:24:49.48 at the church and the teacher pointed at me and demanded 00:24:49.52\00:24:53.05 why do we not see resurrections today? 00:24:53.09\00:24:56.32 Where are they now? And I thought about everything 00:24:56.36\00:25:01.23 that we've just discussed, death, the spirit, Hector, 00:25:01.26\00:25:06.47 and God's miracles in my own life and I answered, sir, 00:25:06.50\00:25:13.74 we do see resurrections today, friends, be it spiritual or 00:25:13.78\00:25:21.75 physical, God is resurrecting people today. 00:25:21.78\00:25:26.82 And I wonder what He will do in my life, I wonder what 00:25:26.86\00:25:31.83 He'll do in yours. 00:25:31.86\00:25:37.77 The baptismal pool was actually very warm, these days 00:25:37.80\00:25:46.11 you can put heaters in the water, you know, 00:25:46.14\00:25:48.38 and I was standing there waiting on the children's story 00:25:48.41\00:25:52.38 to complete, tears in my eyes because beside me was 00:25:52.41\00:26:00.19 Michael, huh, a man just a little taller than me, 00:26:00.22\00:26:05.89 tears in his eyes, the children's story finished 00:26:05.93\00:26:11.90 and they had the little screen that hid the pool until 00:26:11.93\00:26:17.81 it was time. The person in the back raised the screen 00:26:17.84\00:26:21.68 and there we were, Michael and the preacher 00:26:21.71\00:26:26.68 and I introduced Michael to the congregation 00:26:26.72\00:26:31.42 and I always say, you see this? this is your church family 00:26:31.45\00:26:35.49 we walk to the kingdom together we're in your life for a reason 00:26:35.52\00:26:40.36 you are in our life for a reason, Michael, do you want 00:26:40.40\00:26:43.20 to say something, Michael did not, and I raised my hand 00:26:43.23\00:26:46.23 in the air, you've seen it and it never gets old, does it? 00:26:46.27\00:26:50.54 And now, Michael, because of your determination to walk 00:26:50.57\00:26:55.94 with God and your commitment to Jesus Christ 00:26:55.98\00:26:59.41 I now baptize you in the name of the Father, 00:26:59.45\00:27:02.58 in the name of the Son, and in the name of the holy Ghost 00:27:02.62\00:27:06.19 and Michael, went down and Michael stood up again 00:27:06.22\00:27:13.46 Because what I didn't tell you the first time I'd ever 00:27:13.50\00:27:15.66 met Michael was at a little program named Teen Challenge, 00:27:15.70\00:27:18.87 he was a drug addict. Resurrection friends! 00:27:18.90\00:27:24.71 God is resurrecting people. I wonder what 00:27:24.74\00:27:30.31 He would do with your life? 00:27:30.35\00:27:32.08 Oh Father, Resurrect us, save us. 00:27:32.11\00:27:38.25 In Thy name we pray, Amen and Amen! 00:27:38.29\00:27:42.19 You know God has plans for you, you just walk with your hand 00:27:42.22\00:27:45.03 in His hand, He will lead you to His destination, 00:27:45.06\00:27:47.93 may He bless you. 00:27:47.96\00:27:49.96 And as always, friends, Be Encouraged. 00:27:50.00\00:27:53.67
