CHO] Yeah. 00:03:00.51\00:03:01.81 >> Dr. Cho, the assumption is 00:03:01.81\00:03:04.65 that too much alcohol is 00:03:04.65\00:03:07.42 bad for you, but in moderation, 00:03:07.42\00:03:09.75 it's healthy. 00:03:09.75\00:03:10.99 What are your views? 00:03:10.99\00:03:12.52 >> So the question is really 00:03:12.52\00:03:15.16 what is moderate 00:03:15.16\00:03:16.32 alcohol consumption? 00:03:16.32\00:03:17.33 What do we mean by that? 00:03:17.33\00:03:18.89 And when we say, like, healthy 00:03:18.89\00:03:20.70 is kind of a broad term. 00:03:20.70\00:03:22.40 So when someone says alcohol in 00:03:22.40\00:03:24.03 moderation is healthy, what do 00:03:24.03\00:03:25.17 you mean by healthy? 00:03:25.17\00:03:27.14 The World Health Organization 00:03:27.14\00:03:28.60 classifies alcohol as a 00:03:28.60\00:03:31.34 Group 1 carcinogen. 00:03:31.34\00:03:33.04 So it's the highest level. 00:03:33.04\00:03:35.38 It's a definite known 00:03:35.38\00:03:36.38 carcinogen. 00:03:36.38\00:03:37.55 It causes cancer. 00:03:37.55\00:03:39.18 Recent studies have published 00:03:40.28\00:03:42.82 in, for example, the Lancet 00:03:42.82\00:03:44.09 Journal has, they basically, the 00:03:44.09\00:03:46.35 researchers conclude that when 00:03:46.35\00:03:48.06 it comes to cancer risk, there 00:03:48.06\00:03:50.29 is no safe level. 00:03:50.29\00:03:51.63 The safest level is zero. 00:03:51.63\00:03:53.73 So when you say, when people say 00:03:53.73\00:03:56.50 moderate alcohol consumption is 00:03:56.50\00:03:59.07 healthy, what do you mean 00:03:59.07\00:04:00.37 by that? 00:04:00.37\00:04:01.20 Because even the top journals 00:04:01.20\00:04:03.41 are saying that... 00:04:03.41\00:04:04.51 ...there is no safe level of 00:04:06.11\00:04:07.11 alcohol consumption 00:04:07.11\00:04:08.18 when it comes to cancer. 00:04:08.18\00:04:09.34 So when it comes to alcohol 00:04:09.34\00:04:12.05 consumption, there's just too 00:04:12.05\00:04:14.08 much health risks associated 00:04:14.08\00:04:15.62 with it. 00:04:15.62\00:04:16.45 >> So it causes cancer, 00:04:16.45\00:04:18.19 we know that from the research. 00:04:18.19\00:04:19.99 Are there other health effects 00:04:19.99\00:04:21.52 to drinking? 00:04:21.52\00:04:23.39 >> Yeah. 00:04:23.39\00:04:24.29 So I like the way that a 00:04:24.29\00:04:26.80 researcher from CAMH put it, 00:04:26.80\00:04:28.46 he says alcohol is a 00:04:28.46\00:04:30.17 cardiotoxic, hepatotoxic, 00:04:30.17\00:04:32.57 neurotoxic drug, right? 00:04:32.57\00:04:34.60 So basically alcohol causes 00:04:34.60\00:04:37.71 direct damage to the brain, 00:04:37.71\00:04:40.14 it destroys nerve cells, 00:04:40.14\00:04:42.01 it causes damage to the liver, 00:04:42.01\00:04:43.71 it's a hepatotoxin. 00:04:43.71\00:04:45.75 It's also a cardiotoxin. 00:04:45.75\00:04:47.08 And we could talk about the 00:04:47.08\00:04:47.98 health effects on the heart 00:04:47.98\00:04:49.35 later, but it causes, it's toxic 00:04:49.35\00:04:51.92 to the heart as well. 00:04:51.92\00:04:53.62 And it causes other problems, 00:04:53.62\00:04:55.06 like, for example, it causes 00:04:55.06\00:04:56.42 leaky gut. 00:04:56.42\00:04:57.36 So alcohol damages the gut 00:04:57.36\00:04:59.46 lining so it makes the gut leaky 00:04:59.46\00:05:01.93 so stuff gets through the gut 00:05:01.93\00:05:03.53 wall which causes inflammation 00:05:03.53\00:05:05.87 in the body. 00:05:05.87\00:05:07.20 Alcohol has, it's... 00:05:07.20\00:05:10.11 pretty much it has, 00:05:10.11\00:05:11.84 it damages the body in so 00:05:11.84\00:05:13.07 many ways. 00:05:13.07\00:05:14.31 >> Dr. George, you're advocating 00:05:14.81\00:05:17.11 for zero alcohol. 00:05:17.11\00:05:19.68 But didn't the Canadian 2023 00:05:19.68\00:05:22.58 guidelines suggest that two per 00:05:22.58\00:05:25.35 week is okay? 00:05:25.35\00:05:27.12 >> Okay. 00:05:27.12\00:05:28.29 So first of all, it doesn't say 00:05:28.29\00:05:29.76 “okay,” it says two drinks per 00:05:29.76\00:05:32.19 week is low risk. 00:05:32.19\00:05:34.83 In fact, in their, in the 00:05:34.83\00:05:36.73 document that they published, 00:05:36.73\00:05:37.80 they say any level of alcohol 00:05:37.80\00:05:39.63 is associated with risk. 00:05:39.63\00:05:41.64 It's just what level of risk. 00:05:41.64\00:05:43.71 So to say that 00:05:43.71\00:05:46.68 the new Canadian guidelines 00:05:46.68\00:05:48.58 suggest that two is 00:05:48.58\00:05:49.88 healthy or okay, that's 00:05:49.88\00:05:50.85 actually, that'd be a gross 00:05:50.85\00:05:52.75 misunderstanding of that. 00:05:52.75\00:05:53.82 It says it's low risk. 00:05:53.82\00:05:55.95 Now, people have to understand 00:05:55.95\00:05:56.92 something, in 2011, they 00:05:56.92\00:05:58.85 released the guidelines. 00:05:58.85\00:06:00.29 So about a dec-- you know, 00:06:00.29\00:06:02.02 ten or so years ago. 00:06:02.02\00:06:03.79 And in those guidelines, 00:06:03.79\00:06:05.73 they said two drinks 00:06:05.73\00:06:07.50 per day for men, 00:06:07.50\00:06:09.13 one drink per day approximately 00:06:09.13\00:06:10.63 for women, up to about 00:06:10.63\00:06:11.93 15 drinks per week 00:06:11.93\00:06:14.67 for men and a little 00:06:14.67\00:06:15.67 bit less for women. 00:06:15.67\00:06:17.01 Now, a little more than a decade 00:06:17.01\00:06:19.17 later, they dropped it all the 00:06:19.17\00:06:21.31 way down from 15 to 2, 00:06:21.31\00:06:24.05 regardless of your sex. 00:06:24.05\00:06:25.71 So for both men and women, 00:06:25.71\00:06:27.82 it's now, it's just two. 00:06:27.82\00:06:30.02 So people have to really, you 00:06:30.02\00:06:31.05 have to really ask yourself, how 00:06:31.05\00:06:32.29 do they get from 15 and, like, 00:06:32.29\00:06:35.46 12 or 13 down to two in just a 00:06:35.46\00:06:37.83 matter of a decade, which is not 00:06:37.83\00:06:39.53 very long in terms of research 00:06:39.53\00:06:41.03 when it comes to research time. 00:06:41.03\00:06:43.30 So that tells you something that 00:06:43.30\00:06:45.07 the more that research is coming 00:06:45.07\00:06:46.43 out, it's just suggesting that 00:06:46.43\00:06:47.97 alcohol is actually worse for 00:06:47.97\00:06:49.37 you than we've thought 00:06:49.37\00:06:50.31 previously, right? 00:06:50.31\00:06:52.14 So, and like I said, the wording 00:06:52.14\00:06:55.08 that they use now is "low risk," 00:06:55.08\00:06:57.91 is not "no risk." 00:06:57.91\00:06:59.65 They say any level of alcohol 00:06:59.65\00:07:01.48 consumption is associated with 00:07:01.48\00:07:02.78 some risk. 00:07:02.78\00:07:04.39 It's just a matter of degrees. 00:07:04.39\00:07:05.39 Which is true. 00:07:05.39\00:07:06.25 I mean, if you drink more, 00:07:06.25\00:07:07.26 there's more risk. 00:07:07.26\00:07:08.56 It's also important to point out 00:07:09.22\00:07:10.39 that the past guidelines from 00:07:10.39\00:07:13.23 2011, the 15 drinks, is now 00:07:13.23\00:07:15.70 considered high risk. 00:07:15.70\00:07:17.60 So the previous guidelines for 00:07:17.60\00:07:19.50 Canadians just a little bit more 00:07:19.50\00:07:20.67 than a decade ago put Canadians 00:07:20.67\00:07:23.00 at high risk of negative health 00:07:23.00\00:07:24.71 effects from alcohol. 00:07:24.71\00:07:27.04 So that tells you all you really 00:07:27.04\00:07:28.64 need to know about 00:07:28.64\00:07:30.58 alcohol consumption. 00:07:30.58\00:07:32.05 It's not healthy. 00:07:32.05\00:07:33.58 Any level of consumption is 00:07:33.58\00:07:35.55 associated with risk. 00:07:35.55\00:07:37.32 There's low and there's high 00:07:37.32\00:07:38.45 risk, which is true. 00:07:38.45\00:07:39.69 But to say that two drinks per 00:07:39.69\00:07:41.89 day-- per week is okay, 00:07:41.89\00:07:44.19 that's not true, that's a 00:07:44.19\00:07:45.83 misunderstanding. 00:07:45.83\00:07:47.03 Yeah. 00:07:47.03\00:07:47.96 >> So let's talk about red wine, 00:07:47.96\00:07:49.70 because some people think, oh, 00:07:49.70\00:07:50.83 red wine is safe and it's good 00:07:50.83\00:07:52.57 for the heart. 00:07:52.57\00:07:53.67 >> Yeah, so in the new... 00:07:54.87\00:07:57.44 ...guidelines that they 00:07:58.67\00:08:00.14 published, they specifically 00:08:00.14\00:08:01.84 say, "Alcohol is not good 00:08:01.84\00:08:04.35 for the heart." 00:08:04.35\00:08:05.11 So they actually tackle this 00:08:05.11\00:08:06.68 whole understanding that 00:08:06.68\00:08:08.45 people had that 00:08:08.45\00:08:10.79 red wine or alcohol is 00:08:10.79\00:08:12.29 good for the heart. 00:08:12.29\00:08:13.09 They actually tackle it head on 00:08:13.09\00:08:14.52 and they specifically say, 00:08:14.52\00:08:16.02 "It is not good for the heart." 00:08:16.02\00:08:17.86 Yeah. 00:08:17.86\00:08:18.76 Studies have shown that 00:08:18.76\00:08:20.60 alcohol might lower the risk of, 00:08:20.60\00:08:24.13 like, slightly lower the risk 00:08:24.13\00:08:25.30 of, like, getting a-- of dying 00:08:25.30\00:08:26.60 from a heart attack, but also 00:08:26.60\00:08:28.84 increases the risk of dying from 00:08:28.84\00:08:30.84 hypertensive disease, stroke, 00:08:30.84\00:08:33.48 and other cardiovascular issues. 00:08:33.48\00:08:35.94 So you might lower the risk a 00:08:35.94\00:08:38.68 little bit or dying from a heart 00:08:38.68\00:08:39.81 attack, I think it's like 6% or 00:08:39.81\00:08:41.28 so, but then you dramatically 00:08:41.28\00:08:42.68 increase the risk of other 00:08:42.68\00:08:43.89 cardiovascular issues, because 00:08:43.89\00:08:45.19 remember, the cardiovascular 00:08:45.19\00:08:46.29 system includes the 00:08:46.29\00:08:47.56 cardiovascular system in the 00:08:47.56\00:08:48.89 brain and it's just 00:08:48.89\00:08:50.26 all over the body. 00:08:50.26\00:08:51.19 It's not just the heart, right, 00:08:51.19\00:08:52.86 it's all over. 00:08:52.86\00:08:53.63 The cardiovascular system is 00:08:53.63\00:08:54.56 spread out everywhere. 00:08:54.56\00:08:55.90 And you look at, as a whole, 00:08:55.90\00:08:58.53 it actually is not good 00:08:58.53\00:08:59.70 for the heart. 00:08:59.70\00:09:00.44 And so alcohol is a cardiotoxin, 00:09:00.44\00:09:03.07 it can cause damage 00:09:03.07\00:09:04.77 to the heart. 00:09:04.77\00:09:05.77 So do you want to drink alcohol 00:09:05.77\00:09:08.04 hoping to lower the risk of-- 00:09:08.04\00:09:09.48 slightly lower the risk of dying 00:09:09.48\00:09:11.68 from a heart attack, while 00:09:11.68\00:09:12.98 increasing the risk of all these 00:09:12.98\00:09:13.98 other health issues? 00:09:13.98\00:09:15.62 To me, that doesn't make sense. 00:09:15.62\00:09:17.32 So it's not true that alcohol is 00:09:17.32\00:09:20.12 good for the heart. 00:09:20.12\00:09:21.09 That's a major misunderstanding. 00:09:21.09\00:09:22.66 Yeah, and more and more research 00:09:22.66\00:09:24.43 is now proving that 00:09:24.43\00:09:25.89 to be the case. 00:09:25.89\00:09:26.70 In fact, like I said, the new 00:09:26.70\00:09:28.30 guidelines explicitly state 00:09:28.30\00:09:30.80 it is not good for the heart. 00:09:30.80\00:09:32.30 So, yeah. 00:09:32.30\00:09:33.57 >> And, Dr. George Cho, 00:09:33.57\00:09:35.07 in the... 00:09:35.07\00:09:36.07 ...study for the Blue Zones, 00:09:36.81\00:09:38.47 it mentions over there that 00:09:38.47\00:09:40.31 drinking wine is actually good 00:09:40.31\00:09:42.91 and helps with longevity. 00:09:42.91\00:09:44.68 [DR. CHO] Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. 00:09:44.68\00:09:46.18 So, Dan Buettner, 00:09:46.18\00:09:47.98 he was looking at the different 00:09:47.98\00:09:49.88 Blue Zones populations, he... 00:09:49.88\00:09:51.52 ...and these are groups of 00:09:52.52\00:09:53.49 centenarians who live 00:09:53.49\00:09:54.49 a long life. 00:09:54.49\00:09:55.36 And he basically looked at the 00:09:55.36\00:09:57.23 health patterns that they, the 00:09:57.23\00:09:58.99 lifestyle patterns that they 00:09:58.99\00:10:00.00 typically seem to practice. 00:10:00.00\00:10:02.76 And he created what's called the 00:10:03.57\00:10:04.90 Power Nine, which is basically 00:10:04.90\00:10:06.37 these lifestyle principles. 00:10:06.37\00:10:08.30 So, like, plant-based eating, 00:10:08.30\00:10:09.70 exercising, social connections, 00:10:09.70\00:10:11.31 spirituality, stuff like that. 00:10:11.31\00:10:13.34 Now, including in that, he 00:10:13.34\00:10:14.94 included wine, drinking red 00:10:14.94\00:10:17.45 wine, which is very curious 00:10:17.45\00:10:19.61 because-- which is very, I 00:10:19.61\00:10:21.62 think, unfortunate, because the 00:10:21.62\00:10:24.12 other lifestyle practices that 00:10:24.12\00:10:26.19 he talks about, pretty much all 00:10:26.19\00:10:28.72 the different blues, the five 00:10:28.72\00:10:30.23 Blue Zones, they practice it. 00:10:30.23\00:10:31.79 But when it comes to wine, one 00:10:32.59\00:10:34.20 of the Blues Zones actually does 00:10:34.20\00:10:35.50 not practice it. 00:10:35.50\00:10:36.50 The Loma Linda Blue Zone, 00:10:36.50\00:10:38.57 the Seventh-day Adventists. 00:10:38.57\00:10:40.50 Seventh-day Adventists typically 00:10:41.44\00:10:42.74 do not drink alcohol. 00:10:42.74\00:10:44.04 In fact, they take a very, very 00:10:44.04\00:10:46.21 strong stance against alcohol. 00:10:46.21\00:10:48.68 In fact, to even join the 00:10:48.68\00:10:50.81 church, you had to abstain from 00:10:50.81\00:10:52.15 alcohol to even join the church. 00:10:52.15\00:10:54.12 So drinking wine is not part of 00:10:54.12\00:10:57.22 the Loma Linda Blue Zone. 00:10:57.22\00:10:59.82 So I'm-- so it puzzles me a 00:10:59.82\00:11:01.92 little bit whenever I... 00:11:01.92\00:11:03.39 ...see that, see why he would 00:11:04.43\00:11:06.03 include that 00:11:06.03\00:11:07.83 into his 00:11:07.83\00:11:09.76 Power Nine of these lifestyle 00:11:09.76\00:11:11.37 habits that these Blue Zone 00:11:11.37\00:11:12.80 centenarians practice because 00:11:12.80\00:11:14.97 one of them, one of the 00:11:14.97\00:11:16.44 Blue Zones doesn't practice it. 00:11:16.44\00:11:18.17 Now, it's true that the 00:11:19.01\00:11:19.91 Sardinians that he looked at, 00:11:19.91\00:11:21.71 like, they drink wine and I 00:11:21.71\00:11:23.08 think that's kind of where he 00:11:23.08\00:11:23.91 gets that idea, from the 00:11:23.91\00:11:24.98 Sardinians and the Ikarians and 00:11:24.98\00:11:26.48 so forth. 00:11:26.48\00:11:27.62 But what I would say is that 00:11:27.62\00:11:30.02 likely these individuals 00:11:30.02\00:11:31.19 probably are living a long life 00:11:31.19\00:11:33.42 despite, like, in spite 00:11:33.42\00:11:35.19 of the alcohol, 00:11:35.19\00:11:37.09 not really because of it, 00:11:37.09\00:11:39.29 you see? 00:11:39.29\00:11:40.13 So it's like some people, they 00:11:40.13\00:11:42.00 can live their whole life 00:11:42.00\00:11:44.00 smoking and they don't get lung 00:11:44.00\00:11:45.47 cancer, right? 00:11:45.47\00:11:47.00 It doesn't mean that the smoking 00:11:47.00\00:11:48.14 contributed to their longevity, 00:11:48.14\00:11:49.40 it just means that they just 00:11:49.40\00:11:51.27 weren't-- they were like the 00:11:51.27\00:11:52.81 rare exception to the 00:11:52.81\00:11:54.28 general rule. 00:11:54.28\00:11:55.48 So these individuals, we know 00:11:55.48\00:11:58.15 that these Blue Zone 00:11:58.15\00:11:59.08 centenarians are practising a 00:11:59.08\00:12:00.05 lot of good lifestyle habits, 00:12:00.05\00:12:01.78 so perhaps it's maybe negating a 00:12:01.78\00:12:03.52 little bit of the alcohol 00:12:03.52\00:12:04.52 consumption that they're doing, 00:12:04.52\00:12:05.79 right, so... 00:12:05.79\00:12:06.89 But we can't ignore the research 00:12:06.89\00:12:08.49 though, which is suggesting that 00:12:08.49\00:12:09.76 alcohol is really not that good 00:12:09.76\00:12:11.26 for you, so... 00:12:11.26\00:12:12.16 So these other lifestyle habits 00:12:12.83\00:12:14.63 are probably helping these 00:12:14.63\00:12:15.53 individuals in spite of the fact 00:12:15.53\00:12:17.43 that they're drinking. 00:12:17.43\00:12:18.47 But I think it's very 00:12:18.47\00:12:19.47 unfortunate that he included 00:12:19.47\00:12:21.57 alcohol into his Power Nine 00:12:21.57\00:12:24.57 when one of the Blues Zones 00:12:24.57\00:12:26.41 doesn't even practice it at all. 00:12:26.41\00:12:28.08 >> Couldn't there be something 00:12:29.71\00:12:31.31 in the grapes that is 00:12:31.31\00:12:33.01 also good for the heart? 00:21:55.61\00:21:56.54 And one thing that Alcoholics 00:21:56.54\00:21:58.28 Anonymous does is admit your 00:21:58.28\00:22:00.92 need of a higher power. 00:22:00.92\00:22:02.45 And I think that's really, 00:22:02.45\00:22:03.62 really critical that that is a 00:22:03.62\00:22:05.42 part of this, that you recognize 00:22:05.42\00:22:08.06 that you don't have power over 00:22:08.06\00:22:09.36 it yourself and that you need to 00:22:09.36\00:22:11.46 turn to a higher power 00:22:11.46\00:22:14.13 for us that would be God and 00:22:14.13\00:22:16.56 turning to the Bible and turning 00:22:16.56\00:22:18.00 to Jesus and asking for that 00:22:18.00\00:22:19.87 help and the Holy Spirit 00:22:19.87\00:22:21.24 to guide us. 00:22:21.24\00:22:22.04 >> Yeah, and the North American 00:22:22.04\00:22:23.77 Division of Seventh-day 00:22:23.77\00:22:24.67 Adventists, they have recovery 00:22:24.67\00:22:26.68 ministries. 00:22:26.68\00:22:27.68 And as part of that, they have 00:22:27.68\00:22:28.74 something called, like, 00:22:28.74\00:22:29.61 it's called the... 00:22:29.61\00:22:30.61 ...addiction recovery, 00:22:31.11\00:22:32.15 there's something about 00:22:32.15\00:22:32.98 addiction recovery program from 00:22:32.98\00:22:34.15 the North American Division 00:22:34.15\00:22:35.18 that's really faith based. 00:22:35.18\00:22:36.82 It helps people, kind of like 00:22:36.82\00:22:38.49 Alcoholics Anonymous, look to 00:22:38.49\00:22:39.89 God for help, but there's, like, 00:22:39.89\00:22:41.56 a program, a year long process 00:22:41.56\00:22:43.89 which the program, which can 00:22:43.89\00:22:45.66 help individuals with various 00:22:45.66\00:22:46.93 addictions, including alcohol 00:22:46.93\00:22:48.00 addiction. 00:22:48.00\00:22:48.73 So there's different resources 00:22:48.73\00:22:49.93 out there that people can 00:22:49.93\00:22:52.03 utilize, but really, for-- 00:22:52.03\00:22:54.14 really the best thing is 00:22:54.14\00:22:55.64 prevention. 00:22:55.64\00:22:56.77 So for those who have, 00:22:56.77\00:22:59.47 already have struggles, 00:22:59.47\00:23:01.58 they need get professional help, 00:23:01.58\00:23:02.81 but those listeners 00:23:02.81\00:23:03.98 who aren't... 00:23:03.98\00:23:05.68 ...my message is basically don't 00:23:06.61\00:23:08.08 start because it is addictive 00:23:08.08\00:23:10.82 and there's high possibility of 00:23:10.82\00:23:12.49 abuse and you just never know if 00:23:12.49\00:23:14.26 you're the exception. 00:23:14.26\00:23:15.16 Again, people want to be the 00:23:15.16\00:23:16.26 exception, you just never know 00:23:16.26\00:23:17.36 if you are the exception. 00:23:17.36\00:23:18.66 So there's just no, there's no 00:23:18.66\00:23:20.46 point taking that risk. 00:23:20.46\00:23:22.16 And the consequences are just 00:23:22.16\00:23:23.53 too much, too-- can be too 00:23:23.53\00:23:26.33 damaging, too tragic. 00:23:26.33\00:23:27.74 [MIKE] Yeah, yeah. 00:23:27.74\00:23:28.84 Before I ask you a final 00:23:29.40\00:23:30.81 question or final thoughts that 00:23:30.81\00:23:31.97 you have, I think of the One 00:23:31.97\00:23:34.68 Week in Paradise program that we 00:23:34.68\00:23:35.98 run together with a lot of 00:23:35.98\00:23:38.65 health care professionals and 00:23:38.65\00:23:39.91 I've seen how you address this 00:23:39.91\00:23:41.95 issue of alcohol and going to 00:23:41.95\00:23:44.32 zero alcohol. 00:23:44.32\00:23:45.15 And many people after that, 00:23:45.15\00:23:46.22 after just one week are-- say, 00:23:46.22\00:23:48.66 "Hey, I'm finished," you know, 00:23:48.66\00:23:50.26 "I'm not gonna do that again." 00:23:50.26\00:23:51.59 And it's a beautiful thing to 00:23:51.59\00:23:52.86 watch people feeling like, hey, 00:23:52.86\00:23:55.30 I'm free and feeling really good 00:23:55.30\00:23:57.57 and celebrating that 00:23:57.57\00:23:58.77 because they do. 00:23:58.77\00:24:00.17 >> And we're honest with people 00:24:00.17\00:24:01.17 there about what alcohol is, 00:24:01.17\00:24:03.81 you know? 00:24:03.81\00:24:04.44 And so you had to be honest with 00:24:04.51\00:24:05.91 people and make them 00:24:05.91\00:24:07.84 make the choice. 00:24:07.84\00:24:08.71 Yeah, yeah. 00:24:08.71\00:24:09.34 >> And having that emotional 00:24:09.34\00:24:11.11 support there is really good and 00:24:11.11\00:24:12.98 the support of prayer, 00:24:12.98\00:24:14.32 all of that. 00:24:14.32\00:24:15.02 Any final thoughts? 00:24:15.02\00:24:16.05 >> So my final thought is this, 00:24:17.09\00:24:20.09 if, like, we would never give 00:24:20.09\00:24:22.62 any other food substance the 00:24:22.62\00:24:24.06 pass that we do for alcohol. 00:24:24.06\00:24:25.76 So, like, let's say, for 00:24:25.76\00:24:27.50 example, that tomorrow a study 00:24:27.50\00:24:30.03 comes out, like something 00:24:30.03\00:24:31.07 on the news, "Soy milk, 00:24:31.07\00:24:33.54 now linked with cancer. 00:24:33.54\00:24:35.67 Also, if you drink more than, 00:24:35.67\00:24:37.14 like, three cups of soy milk, 00:24:37.14\00:24:38.71 it's gonna cause brain damage 00:24:38.71\00:24:40.51 and heart issues and..." 00:24:40.51\00:24:41.78 [MIKE] That's the end of 00:24:41.78\00:24:42.61 soy milk.
