We are in the middle of an incredible 00:01:56.51\00:02:01.35 story: the story of Pastor Manuel Donoso and how God led throughout his life. The last 00:02:01.45\00:02:09.02 show, we left you with Pastor Donoso in the army. Pastor Donoso, I want to welcome you 00:02:09.12\00:02:16.53 again to It Is Written. PASTOR DONOSO: Thank you, Chris. CHRIS: You know, Pastor Donoso, 00:02:16.63\00:02:20.54 we were talking about your story, talking about the journey, key pivotal moments in 00:02:20.64\00:02:26.07 your journey. If you've missed any of the program. of the last program, you can go to our 00:02:26.17\00:02:34.85 website, itiswrittencanada.ca, and there you can watch last week's program. But Pastor 00:02:34.95\00:02:38.69 Donoso, we talked about several pivotal moments in your life. When you began, in your 00:02:38.79\00:02:44.69 childhood, you would have long walks to school, and at that time, you began talking to God, 00:02:44.79\00:02:48.76 maybe not understanding fully who God was and what He was and what He could do, but you began 00:02:48.86\00:02:54.30 these conversations, which was a key point in your formation. Then, as you entered upon life, 00:02:54.40\00:03:01.51 there was a tragic situation with your father, and that situation led to rebellion in 00:03:01.61\00:03:07.85 your life and led to you entering into the army, which, at the time, was not a good 00:03:07.95\00:03:15.16 experience for you. However, you've said, looking back on it, it began to emphasize the 00:03:15.26\00:03:21.60 principle of discipline in your life. Where we left the last show is, you're in the army, 00:03:21.70\00:03:28.74 you're going through struggles, things aren't going like you want it to go. You're wanting to 00:03:28.84\00:03:34.54 get out. How do you eventually get out? Because obviously, you're not still in the army. 00:03:34.64\00:03:39.55 PASTOR DONOSO: Well, as I mentioned, I wrote to the president, to the elected 00:03:39.65\00:03:45.39 president at the time, newlylected president, a letter asking him to intervene 00:03:45.49\00:03:52.43 on my behalf. CHRIS: Okay. PASTOR DONOSO: Well, about a month and a half passed by, I 00:03:52.53\00:03:56.06 didn't receive any news, so I kind of forgot about the idea, 'til one day, one weekend, I was 00:03:56.16\00:04:01.94 out, I was on leave. When I came back on Sunday night, everybody knew that I had received a 00:04:02.04\00:04:09.21 letter from the presidency; it had come to the army base. And so, as you can imagine, how 00:04:09.31\00:04:19.59 excited I was, but I didn't know whether it was good news or not. So I read the letter, and the 00:04:19.69\00:04:27.66 president was telling me that he has intervened with the ministry of defence, and that to be 00:04:27.76\00:04:33.30 patient, because something was being done. Well, the following day, the very next day, on 00:04:33.40\00:04:38.24 Monday, I was called to the office of the general of the. in charge of the regiment. And the 00:04:38.34\00:04:45.78 first thing he asked me was how come I didn't go forward when they asked a few months earlier 00:04:45.88\00:04:52.62 whoever wanted to be discharged earlier? And this was my payback to the lieutenant, because I 00:04:52.72\00:04:58.59 said to the general that I had done so, but the lieutenant had pushed me back. So to make the 00:04:58.69\00:05:06.67 story short, I was discharged immediately after that. I was able to leave. And actually, I 00:05:06.77\00:05:16.81 was given a month leave, and I was spending Christmas and New Year's out. And even though I 00:05:16.91\00:05:27.12 wasn't discharged, at least I thought, you know, it was something good. But when I came 00:05:27.22\00:05:32.33 back after being away for a month, the very next day after I arrived, I was told that I was 00:05:32.43\00:05:39.67 discharged for good. CHRIS: So you're discharged from the army. Where does your story lead you 00:05:39.77\00:05:46.41 from there? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, I went home in the country, and I was wondering what I was going 00:05:46.51\00:05:52.48 to study. I was leaning in a particular direction, but I wanted to take some time off. 00:05:52.58\00:05:57.89 And I had been home for a couple of months when I saw a jeep coming home toward my home, and 00:05:57.99\00:06:06.63 I knew the jeep; it was my good friend that we had been in the army together. And he came to 00:06:06.73\00:06:14.07 invite me to go to Peru. And the story. the reason was that he was in love with this girl. She 00:06:14.17\00:06:20.31 was poor and he was wealthy. And the family, when they found out that this was getting serious, 00:06:20.41\00:06:24.35 they decided to send them to Peru to get away, but they wanted for him to go with a 00:06:24.45\00:06:34.19 friend, and they picked me as the person that should accompany him. But unfortunately, the 00:06:34.29\00:06:42.43 story was a little more complicated, because the girl was pregnant. CHRIS: Okay. So 00:06:42.53\00:06:46.47 you get out of the army, you had a friend that was actually a friend before you went into the 00:06:46.57\00:06:51.21 army? PASTOR DONOSO: Yes. CHRIS: Continued on as friends in the army. He left the army 00:06:51.31\00:06:54.21 before you did. PASTOR DONOSO: Yes. CHRIS: He shows up at your house in a jeep and 00:06:54.31\00:06:58.55 says, "Let's go to Peru." PASTOR DONOSO: Yes. CHRIS: So what do you do? Do you go to Peru? Do 00:06:58.65\00:07:03.39 you have other plans? 'Cause you're thinking about studying. What do you do? PASTOR 00:07:03.49\00:07:06.52 DONOSO: Well, I decided to go with him, because I agreed that he was doing the right thing. He 00:07:06.62\00:07:14.23 was not abandoning this girl. But there was another issue as well. Because the family was 00:07:14.36\00:07:19.03 providing for his trip, there was a need to. for more money to finance the girl's. So I was in 00:07:19.13\00:07:29.01 the picture for this as well. So we did make the trip in that. you need to read the book to 00:07:29.11\00:07:38.29 know the whole story, because a movie could be made of just that, how we got away from Chile 00:07:38.39\00:07:45.43 with this girl, and to Peru. CHRIS: Now, for some of our viewers, their geography of 00:07:45.53\00:07:50.80 South America may not be. how long of a journey is it from where you lived in Chile to 00:07:50.90\00:07:56.40 where you were going in Peru? PASTOR DONOSO: We took a bus and it took us two-and-a-half days 00:07:56.50\00:08:00.91 to arrive in Lima, Peru. And we had to stay at a hotel one night. This girl was seven 00:08:01.01\00:08:16.42 months pregnant. CHRIS: Okay. PASTOR DONOSO: And one of the things that happened when we 00:08:16.52\00:08:21.56 arrived in Lima, she almost died. She was wearing a corset to hide the pregnancy, and she 00:08:21.66\00:08:29.20 did that throughout the trip. And she almost died in Peru. CHRIS: Wow. So you end up in 00:08:29.30\00:08:37.75 Peru. Tell me what happens in Peru. What are some pivotal moments that happen in Peru? 00:08:37.85\00:08:42.68 PASTOR DONOSO: We had some jewellery that somebody had sent to their daughter in Peru that 00:08:42.78\00:08:49.99 she was married to an executive with the American cable. So that's the contact that we had. 00:08:50.09\00:08:55.10 And this lady is the one that really helped her and basically saved her life because she took 00:08:55.20\00:09:03.17 her to her doctor and saved this girl's life. But right next door to this lady, this Peruvian 00:09:03.27\00:09:10.01 lady, lived a man that had a poultry farm, a large poultry farm, and he was looking for a 00:09:10.11\00:09:16.02 manager at the time. So I landed a job only a couple of days after I arrived in Lima; I got 00:09:16.12\00:09:25.86 this job as managing a large poultry farm in the north of Peru. CHRIS: Well, so you have a 00:09:25.96\00:09:32.47 history of being on farms. Your father was an administrator at a farm. So you go to Peru, don't 00:09:32.57\00:09:39.34 really have necessarily a plan of what you're going to do, how you're going to do it. The young 00:09:39.44\00:09:45.15 lady who was the girlfriend of your friend is taken care of, even though she almost dies. And 00:09:45.25\00:09:50.65 now you are managing a poultry farm. What happens next? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, what happened next 00:09:50.75\00:09:57.99 is I worked there and tried to get my working visa. And I was unsuccessful because the 00:09:58.09\00:10:06.20 contract was not valid. It had no value to the government. It was just between us, the owner 00:10:06.30\00:10:15.48 and myself. So I spent a year managing this farm, and I decided to go back to Chile. 00:10:15.58\00:10:25.95 These friends had already gone; shortly after she recuperated, they returned. The family had 00:10:26.05\00:10:33.53 accepted the girl, and so they returned. A year later, now I wanted to return. And the day 00:10:33.63\00:10:42.70 before, I stayed at a hotel, and the next day I was going to go, because it was not in Lima, the 00:10:42.80\00:10:47.88 capital; it was 60 kilometres away to the north of Lima. And at the hotel the next morning, 00:10:47.98\00:10:53.52 when I was supposed to go to Lima, I met this man who said, "Have you gone to the jungle, to 00:10:53.62\00:10:57.79 the Amazon jungle?" And I said, "No." He said, "You can't come to Peru and not go to the Amazon 00:10:57.89\00:11:02.46 jungle." CHRIS: Hmm. PASTOR DONOSO: So he convinced me to go to Iquitos, the largest city in 00:11:02.56\00:11:08.30 Peru, in the Amazon area. CHRIS: So you meet this individual as 00:11:08.40\00:11:16.91 you're leaving the hotel, asks you if you've been to the jungle in the Amazon, you say no, you 00:11:17.01\00:11:22.24 head to the Amazon. What happens? PASTOR DONOSO: Yeah. And instead of flying to Chile, 00:11:22.34\00:11:27.02 I flew to the Amazon. There, many things happened, but I got a job with a company that was 00:11:27.12\00:11:34.69 extracting oil from rosewood right in the middle of the Amazon jungle. And I was hired 00:11:34.79\00:11:41.26 to go to do an inspection because it had been idle; the distillery had been idle for a 00:11:41.36\00:11:46.90 few years. I went. We went in a plane. They took me there. When we were flying back, one of the 00:11:47.00\00:11:55.51 doors fell off the plane. It was an aquatic plane. We almost. the plane almost went underwater. 00:11:55.61\00:12:02.85 Then they asked me again to. after all the material was bought, purchased, to get the 00:12:02.95\00:12:12.19 machine going, I was asked to go there, accompany the boat with all the material. And so I 00:12:12.29\00:12:19.47 arrived there and they had a man, a young man, that was supposed to run the distillery 00:12:19.57\00:12:26.04 after I went back. And when they came to pick me up in a plane, this young man was very ill. So 00:12:26.14\00:12:34.85 they asked me to stay while he went to get medical attention, and they would bring him back in 00:12:34.95\00:12:41.72 a plane and then pick me up. But that never happened. CHRIS: Okay, you say that never 00:12:41.82\00:12:46.23 happened. So you're in the middle of the Amazon, you're working for a company that's 00:12:46.33\00:12:49.83 extracting oil from.? PASTOR DONOSO: Rosewood. CHRIS: .from rosewood. And you end up 00:12:49.93\00:12:56.24 actually managing or running the machinery for this extraction unit, unexpectedly. And you just 00:12:56.34\00:13:05.01 said they were supposed to return, but that didn't happen. What do you mean? I mean, you're 00:13:05.11\00:13:08.98 here, so obviously you were not stuck in the Amazon forever. But what happened? What do you mean, 00:13:09.08\00:13:14.66 that didn't happen? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, the reason it never happened is because this 00:13:14.76\00:13:20.83 company with three architects have started a construction company and they have got a 00:13:20.93\00:13:24.03 contract to build a convent for the nuns, and they took the down payment and purchased this 00:13:24.13\00:13:31.84 distillery from somebody else, and they thought it was going to be a quick return, but it didn't 00:13:31.94\00:13:37.48 happen that way. So when the nuns discovered this, they went to the authorities and the 00:13:37.58\00:13:45.29 people declared bankruptcy, the company that was employing me, and they left me there for seven 00:13:45.39\00:13:51.63 months. CHRIS: So you were left in the Amazon. by yourself? For seven months. Now, Pastor 00:13:51.73\00:14:00.84 Donoso, I can't even imagine this, but what happened during that seven months? PASTOR 00:14:00.94\00:14:03.94 DONOSO: I almost died. It was a terrible thing. One other thing that became very apparent to me 00:14:04.04\00:14:14.65 very shortly after is the value of family. Because here I was, have no way of contacting my 00:14:14.75\00:14:20.66 family in any way, shape, or form. It was just like being in a concentration camp somewhere 00:14:20.76\00:14:28.56 where you have no way of getting out. There is no, nothing that you can go to. And fortunately, 00:14:28.66\00:14:36.10 there was a man there that had run the distillery for the previous owner, and he had a 00:14:36.20\00:14:41.98 fairly decent home with kerosene lamp and refrigerators and all of that, and he housed me during 00:14:42.08\00:14:51.62 that time. But I had an experience when I was playing soccer with some of the native 00:14:51.72\00:14:55.86 Indians in the little village, and I fell and one of them stepped on my hand, broke the 00:14:55.96\00:15:04.53 skin, and my hand got infected, and I knew I was going to die. CHRIS: Wow. So you're being 00:15:04.63\00:15:10.77 cared for by this man, staying in the home of this man who used to run the distillery. You've 00:15:10.87\00:15:16.71 got this infection. Pastor Donoso, how do you survive? How do you eventually make your way 00:15:16.81\00:15:20.12 out of the Amazon? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, first of all, the hand, I knew that. because 00:15:20.22\00:15:26.02 things were getting worse and worse, I knew that I was going to die. And I was desperate. And 00:15:26.12\00:15:34.93 then one day I was in my room when I hear all this commotion, and I came out of the room, and 00:15:35.00\00:15:41.80 I looked in the bay - it was a big bay - and I saw this big ship. And I couldn't believe my 00:15:41.90\00:15:48.08 eyes. It was just like watching a vision. But it was actually a Peruvian navy hospital ship that 00:15:48.18\00:15:56.79 they do - I didn't know - but they go through the rivers giving medical attention to the 00:15:56.89\00:16:02.36 people that live in those areas because there is no other way. And they saved my life. The 00:16:02.46\00:16:08.70 doctor told me that maybe in 24 hours, I would have got blood poisoning and died. CHRIS: Wow. 00:16:08.80\00:16:15.54 So by a miracle, this Peruvian naval ship, naval hospital ship, comes through, helps you, heals 00:16:15.64\00:16:24.91 this infection. So how do you get out of the Amazon? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, we have an outdoor 00:16:25.01\00:16:32.79 motorboat with a motor, and there was a radio station that transmit messages to the people 00:16:32.89\00:16:38.69 in the jungle, because there's no other way. And we heard that this plane was going, Peruvian 00:16:38.79\00:16:51.21 plane, the air force plane, used to rent certain planes to get things to the jungle or. and 00:16:51.31\00:16:59.48 there was this plane going to go and pick up some tropical fish. Somebody was paying to bring 00:16:59.58\00:17:06.69 that. But it was a long way from where I was. CHRIS: Okay. PASTOR DONOSO: So we went, we make. 00:17:06.79\00:17:17.53 there was a man there who had been hired to make the boats, the bark, to bring the wood into 00:17:17.63\00:17:21.00 the distillery. And he told me, "You need to get out of here before you go crazy." So that's 00:17:21.10\00:17:27.64 how I made my way to the. we had to travel all night, and it was extremely dangerous to travel at 00:17:27.74\00:17:35.32 night in those rivers. There's trees floating down the water, and it was just amazing. That's 00:17:35.42\00:17:41.29 how I got out. CHRIS: So you make your way down the river, you intercept this Peruvian air 00:17:41.39\00:17:48.73 force plane, they fly you out. What happens next in your life? PASTOR DONOSO: I met this girl. 00:17:48.83\00:17:55.77 As soon as I came back, I met this girl, wealthy Peruvian beautiful girl that had gone 00:17:55.87\00:18:02.94 with a friend to buy the wedding dress. And I met her the day before she was going back to 00:18:03.04\00:18:15.62 Lima, because the only way to come to Iquitos was by plane. So they had gone, and I met. And we 00:18:15.72\00:18:21.43 really liked each other. But I was waiting for a cheque from the company, and they had given 00:18:21.53\00:18:27.54 me one month out of the seven months that I was away, one month's payment, but it was a 00:18:27.64\00:18:33.78 ninetyay cheque. I had to wait ninety days. And I was waiting there. Well, I met this girl. I 00:18:33.88\00:18:40.32 waited for somebody to cash the cheque. Finally, somebody did, for a fraction of the amount, 00:18:40.42\00:18:47.56 and I flew back to Chile. CHRIS: So you meet this young lady, but you're able to get the money 00:18:47.66\00:18:55.00 together. You fly back to Chile. And then once back in Chile, where does life take you? PASTOR 00:18:55.10\00:19:01.34 DONOSO: Well, once again, I was going to study. My mother, when I left Chile, she opened up a 00:19:01.44\00:19:10.75 bank account, and started putting money just in case I came back broke. And what I did, 00:19:10.85\00:19:16.15 I did. There's many miracles in the meantime that happened. But my mother gave me the equivalent 00:19:16.25\00:19:24.23 of about $3,500 and she said, "Nobody knows about this. Your father doesn't know, your 00:19:24.33\00:19:28.23 brother doesn't know. This is for you." And unfortunately, she regretted that later, because 00:19:28.33\00:19:35.87 once again, another friend came, about after a month I'd been back in Chile, and he said, "You 00:19:35.97\00:19:42.94 need to accompany me to Brazil because I left a girlfriend there." CHRIS: So Pastor Donoso, 00:19:43.04\00:19:49.78 you've helped somebody with their girlfriend in Peru, and now you have another friend that 00:19:49.88\00:19:54.69 wants you to help them with their girlfriend that's in Brazil. And I even hate to ask, 00:19:54.79\00:19:58.16 but what did you do? PASTOR DONOSO: I went. CHRIS: So you go to Brazil, and what happens in 00:19:58.26\00:20:04.17 Brazil? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, what happened in Brazil is, when we arrived in a city in Brazil, 00:20:04.27\00:20:10.24 we have given the address for my family to send us correspondence. We'd been there 00:20:10.34\00:20:18.58 I think about two days. When we went back to the home where we were staying, I found a letter 00:20:18.68\00:20:25.52 there addressed to me. And the letter was from Maria Elena, this girl that I had met just 00:20:25.62\00:20:34.83 before I left for Chile. And she had gone with her mother and grandmother to Chile to look for 00:20:34.93\00:20:42.70 me. CHRIS: Wow. So you mean. and maybe I missed the story. I want to make sure I understand it 00:20:42.80\00:20:47.11 correctly. Now, you meet this woman in Peru. PASTOR DONOSO: Yes. CHRIS: Who was supposed to 00:20:47.21\00:20:51.18 get married, actually. PASTOR DONOSO: No, no, her friend. CHRIS: Oh, her friend, okay. 00:20:51.28\00:20:57.25 PASTOR DONOSO: She accompanied her friend and went to get a wedding dress. CHRIS: All right, 00:20:57.35\00:21:00.06 well that's good, Pastor Donoso. I thought you maybe stole a bride from somebody. PASTOR 00:21:00.16\00:21:02.62 DONOSO: No, no. CHRIS: Okay. So this woman that you meet in Peru that you have a good 00:21:02.72\00:21:09.33 conversation with or two, you leave her behind in Peru, you go to Chile. PASTOR DONOSO: Well, 00:21:09.43\00:21:14.10 she went back to Lima. CHRIS: Oh, she went back to Lima. PASTOR DONOSO: While I was 00:21:14.20\00:21:17.57 staying there waiting for the cheque to. for somebody to cash my cheque. But it just happened 00:21:17.67\00:21:24.08 that somebody cashed my cheque just after she had gone back to Lima. So we had no way of 00:21:24.18\00:21:33.29 communicating. So after she arrived in Lima, she began to communicate to me where the 00:21:33.39\00:21:38.36 place where I was staying, and the letters were returned. So she went back to the place in 00:21:38.46\00:21:44.87 the jungle, Iquitos, to look for me. And a friend that knew me said, "No, he went back to 00:21:44.97\00:21:52.37 Chile." But he didn't have my address. He only said, "Now, he lives on a farm in Melipilla. 00:21:52.47\00:21:59.25 That is a city. And so the farm is on the outskirts of the city." So she began to write to 00:21:59.35\00:22:06.62 me to the farm at the name of the city. And the letters were returned. CHRIS: Mmhmm. PASTOR 00:22:06.72\00:22:11.86 DONOSO: So she went to Chile now to look for me in Chile. CHRIS: Well, I tell you, Pastor Donoso, 00:22:11.96\00:22:16.00 you must have made some impression on this young lady. She comes looking for you. At 00:22:16.10\00:22:22.07 this point, though, you've helped another friend who's got a girl problem and gone down to 00:22:22.17\00:22:27.54 Brazil. She ends up in Chile looking for you, and now you get this correspondence from her 00:22:27.64\00:22:33.11 that she's come looking for you. What do you do? PASTOR DONOSO: The thing is, this letter says - 00:22:33.21\00:22:39.29 you might not believe it, but when she wrote the letter, it was about five days earlier - 00:22:39.39\00:22:46.09 she said, "An hour ago I was talking to your mother and to your sister. And that's how I 00:22:46.19\00:22:52.47 got the address. And I want you to come to Peru. My family has a place for you in the business." 00:22:52.57\00:22:59.81 And so that is how I tried to make my way now from Brazil to the Pacific coast, but it didn't 00:22:59.91\00:23:08.42 work. Everything that I did, it pulled me the other way, and instead of going south, I came 00:23:08.52\00:23:15.56 north, and that's how I ended up in Canada. CHRIS: Okay. So Pastor Donoso, we are running 00:23:15.66\00:23:22.63 short on time again. And so we're going to have to leave a good chunk of your story to the 00:23:22.73\00:23:27.77 next show. This young lady comes to Chile looking for you, sends you a letter while you're down 00:23:27.87\00:23:36.38 in Brazil. You leave Brazil and you attempt to go to Peru for this business opportunity. 00:23:36.64\00:23:47.96 PASTOR DONOSO: Yes. CHRIS: But you can't get to Peru. PASTOR DONOSO: Yeah. CHRIS: You make 00:23:48.36\00:23:51.99 every effort to get to Peru. And somehow, someway, in your efforts to get to Peru, you 00:23:52.36\00:23:57.23 actually end up in Canada. PASTOR DONOSO: Yes. CHRIS: Where do you end up in Canada and what 00:23:57.47\00:24:07.51 are you getting ready to do once you have landed in Canada? PASTOR DONOSO: Well, I came to 00:24:07.61\00:24:10.35 study here, actually. I had decided while I was in Costa Rica - in Central America, not 00:24:10.45\00:24:16.18 in South America - I decided that I needed to study. So I decided to go to New Jersey to 00:24:16.28\00:24:22.76 study poultry in New Jersey. And there, while in Costa Rica, I met the Canadian consul and his 00:24:22.86\00:24:31.13 wife, and they convinced me to go. to come to Canada instead. CHRIS: Pastor Donoso, what a 00:24:31.23\00:24:37.11 story. From Chile to Peru; from Peru to Chile; from Chile to Brazil; from Brazil to Costa 00:24:37.21\00:24:45.61 Rica; Costa Rica to New Jersey. PASTOR DONOSO: I didn't go to New Jersey. I was planning to. 00:24:45.71\00:24:50.82 CHRIS: Oh, so you don't even end up in New Jersey. And then finally you end up in Canada. 00:24:50.92\00:24:54.96 And we are all out of time. Pastor Donoso, we're going to pray. We're going to thank God 00:24:55.06\00:25:00.30 that He is the One Who governs our affairs and He moves us along the way. And in the next 00:25:00.40\00:25:06.23 show, we'll talk about how God intervened in your life in a mighty way. Let's pray together. 00:25:06.33\00:25:11.01 Heavenly Father, we are so thankful that even in the confusion of our lives, you are 00:25:11.11\00:25:18.78 able to guide us and direct us. And so I pray, Lord, that You would continue to lead us into a 00:25:18.88\00:25:25.69 relationship with Your Son Jesus. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. PASTOR DONOSO: Amen. 00:25:25.79\00:25:31.73 CHRIS: Do you sometimes wonder if God cares about your physical health? I mean, certainly, He is 00:26:04.69\00:26:10.77 very concerned about our spiritual health, but does he care about what you eat or if 00:26:10.87\00:26:15.74 you exercise? To answer those questions, our two women from our Live Healthy team, Bev 00:26:15.84\00:26:22.61 Edwardsaines, registered dietician and organic farm owner from Kelowna, B.C., and Darlene 00:26:22.71\00:26:29.85 Blaney, who holds a PhD in nutrition, teaches at university level, and owner of Total Health 00:26:29.95\00:26:37.06 in Eckville, Alberta. BEV: Chris, you know, spiritual health and physical health 00:26:37.16\00:26:42.60 actually go hand in hand. One of my favourite Bible texts tells us that absolutely, God cares 00:26:42.70\00:26:48.80 about our health. Listen to this. He tells us in 3rd John 00:26:48.90\00:26:53.74 1:2: BEV: I love that. DARLENE So first thing's first. What we need is a fresh, new start. And 00:27:02.72\00:27:08.76 if we use God's plan for healthy living - and yes, He does have one - we will be healthier in 00:27:08.86\00:27:13.86 all aspects of our lifestyle, including the physical, mental, social, and spiritual. BEV: So, 00:27:13.96\00:27:20.04 over the next several weeks, we'll share with you the various components of healthy living 00:27:20.14\00:27:25.47 using the acronym NEWSTART. That's N E W S T A R T DARLENE Remember, God wants us 00:27:25.57\00:27:33.25 to enjoy a new and better quality of life, and He wants us to do so more abundantly. 00:27:33.35\00:27:38.79 ALL: See you next time. 00:27:38.89\00:27:41.69 CHRIS: Friend, I hope you're intrigued by this story.
