Others say a million. 00:02:09.69\00:02:13.86 Some say it could have been 00:02:13.90\00:02:14.96 as many as a million and a half Armenians who perished, 00:02:15.00\00:02:18.33 while some estimates place the number even higher. 00:02:18.37\00:02:21.37 Fast forward to the present day 00:02:23.14\00:02:24.84 and about 99 percent of Turkish residents are Muslim. 00:02:24.87\00:02:29.14 There are more Muslims here in Turkey 00:02:29.18\00:02:30.98 than in Iraq and Saudi Arabia combined. 00:02:31.01\00:02:34.85 In fact, there are only a handful of countries 00:02:34.88\00:02:36.85 that have a higher Muslim population than that of Turkey. 00:02:36.89\00:02:41.29 And as you might expect, Islam is very visible here. 00:02:41.32\00:02:45.29 [Muslim call to prayer on loudspeaker in background] 00:02:45.33\00:02:52.43 Every day the Islamic call to prayer echoes 00:02:52.47\00:02:55.97 throughout the country. 00:02:56.00\00:02:57.81 The call is broadcast five times a day, 00:03:06.18\00:03:08.45 there are also plenty of structures and buildings 00:03:08.48\00:03:10.89 from the Byzantine era. 00:03:10.92\00:03:13.19 Among the most famous is the enormous Hagia Sofia. 00:03:43.79\00:03:47.59 The Hagia Sophia is magnificent. 00:03:47.62\00:03:51.19 For 85 years it was a museum 00:03:51.23\00:03:53.70 before becoming a mosque again in 2020. 00:03:53.73\00:03:58.23 prophecies of the Bible. 00:04:17.79\00:04:20.02 Isaiah, chapter 45 starts like this: 00:04:20.06\00:04:23.32 "Thus says the Lord to His anointed, to Cyrus, 00:04:23.36\00:04:27.03 "whose right hand I will not be shut." 00:04:35.97\00:04:39.54 This anointed one spoken of, Cyrus, 00:04:39.57\00:04:43.11 was a Persian king who was used by God to overthrow 00:04:43.14\00:04:46.61 the Babylonian Empire, the kingdom that destroyed Jerusalem 00:04:46.65\00:04:49.92 at the time Daniel and his friends were taken captive. 00:04:49.95\00:04:53.15 Babylon ruled from 605 BC to 539 BC, 00:04:53.19\00:04:57.33 at which time the armies of Cyrus entered the city 00:04:57.36\00:05:00.83 of Babylon and overthrew the Babylonian Empire. 00:05:00.86\00:05:05.67 That was the night the writing was on the wall 00:05:05.70\00:05:08.60 for the Babylonian king, Belshazzar. 00:05:08.64\00:05:12.01 A mysterious hand appeared 00:05:12.04\00:05:13.61 and wrote on the wall of the room 00:05:20.52\00:05:22.62 by Belshazzar's decision to blaspheme God even further. 00:05:22.65\00:05:27.22 The king brought out the holy vessels that were taken 00:05:27.26\00:05:29.92 from God's temple in Jerusalem. 00:05:29.96\00:05:32.53 These objects were consecrated to the worship of God 00:05:32.56\00:05:35.73 but had been in storage as Babylonian spoils of war. 00:05:35.76\00:05:39.27 But now the grandson of the great Babylonian monarch 00:05:41.10\00:05:43.74 had them retrieved, and the people at that party 00:05:43.77\00:05:46.74 drank alcohol from them in praise of their pagan gods. 00:05:46.78\00:05:50.95 They took things holy to God and used them in false worship. 00:05:50.98\00:05:55.92 That's when God said, "Enough is enough." 00:05:55.95\00:05:59.72 Babylon was fallen. 00:05:59.75\00:06:01.69 And the Medo-Persian general who led the overthrow of Babylon 00:06:01.72\00:06:04.73 was Cyrus, named by God 00:06:04.76\00:06:08.80 150 years ahead of time. 00:06:08.83\00:06:12.00 In 546 BC that same man led his armies here 00:06:12.03\00:06:17.34 and took the city of Sardis. 00:06:17.37\00:06:19.71 It was taken again a couple of hundred years later 00:06:19.74\00:06:21.88 by Alexander the Great as he was on his way to conquering 00:06:21.91\00:06:25.25 the Medo-Persian Empire and establishing the Greek Empire. 00:06:25.28\00:06:30.09 The history of Asia Minor confirms the record 00:06:30.12\00:06:33.02 of Bible prophecy, which stated that Babylon would rise, 00:06:33.05\00:06:36.73 then Medo-Persia, then Greece, and then Rome. 00:06:36.76\00:06:42.00 The prophecy goes on to say that the Roman Empire would split 00:06:42.03\00:06:45.93 into various nations, which is exactly what happened. 00:06:45.97\00:06:50.01 The prophecies also say that the antichrist would rise up 00:06:50.04\00:06:53.41 from among the nations that had emerged from Rome. 00:06:53.44\00:06:56.88 This is mentioned in Daniel 7. 00:06:56.91\00:06:59.25 And according to Daniel 2, 00:06:59.28\00:07:01.18 Jesus would return during the time of those very nations. 00:07:01.22\00:07:06.22 The Persian royal road passed right through Sardis. 00:07:06.25\00:07:10.13 It started more than 1,600 miles away in Susa, 00:07:10.16\00:07:14.20 the ancient capital of the Persian Empire 00:07:14.20\00:07:16.36 in what we call today Iran.
