00:18 Trying to get in shape for my trip to India.
00:20 Christ said to go into all the world and preach the gospel 00:25 to every creature. 00:26 The problem is we have no idea who they are. 00:32 How are we supposed to effectively communicate 00:34 the gospel to a people we know nothing about; how they think, 00:37 what kind of pressures they have in their daily lives? 00:41 Come with me and let's meet India Face to Face. 01:06 It's hard to believe the grip that Hinduism has on the masses 01:10 of people in India. 01:14 Devotees often walk hundreds of miles barefoot to participate 01:18 in these mass ceremonies that fill the senses, 01:20 exercise the emotions, and captivate the mind. 01:23 And the grip is especially strong in this city. 01:27 Palani is a temple town. 01:29 It's a fortress of Hinduism. 01:34 You can see the lights up ahead of the temple mound 01:36 that dominates this city. 01:39 Being here stimulates a lot of questions in my mind. 01:45 If this is such a holy city, why is it so dirty? 01:49 And who really benefits from all this devotion? 01:52 We'll buy some nice fruit when we go back. 01:54 Right now we're out trying to find something to eat. 01:56 As you can see, there's quite a few options. 02:00 But what would it be like to share the good news of salvation 02:03 through Jesus Christ in a city like this? 02:06 What's the chili mushroom like? 02:08 It's made with mushrooms soaked in a chili preparation. 02:13 My mind keeps going back to Sathish, a twenty-first century 02:18 hero of the faith. 05:44 Now I'm guessing you'd want to have a church that would 05:48 be fireproof. 05:49 Fireproof, yeah, that would be better. 05:53 That would be very safe for us. 07:08 So this whole Hinduism thing is all about money? 07:22 Right, because they make a lot of money. 07:24 Yeah! 12:43 Do you want oranges, sweet lime? 12:46 Yeah, yeah, that sounds great. 13:15 Banana, sweet lime with banana for you? 13:19 Alright! 13:20 How's that? 13:21 This is only a banana milkshake. 13:22 That's great. 13:23 This food cheap and good in India. 13:25 Yeah. 13:26 How much does that banana milkshake cost? 13:29 Ten rupees. 13:30 Ten rupees, so twenty-five cents. 13:31 Yes, of course. 13:32 You can't buy anything for a quarter in America. 13:36 Well, I still don't know why this place is so dirty. 13:39 But I do know that the native missionaries need our support. 13:43 I wonder, has God blessed the West so much for such 13:48 a time as this? |
