In the book of Revelation
19 there are two suppers;

going to be in heaven.

But there's another supper,
and it's not a pretty sight.

We just read it
just before the break.

And that is when all
those who oppose Jesus,

they're slain with the
brightness of His coming.

And this mighty angel
calls the birds to a supper.

The birds to eat
the flesh of people.

Why are the birds
called to eat the dead people,

all of them on
the face of the earth?

For one reason.

There's no one alive.

There's no one
here to bury them.

And so, the wicked living
when Jesus comes are dead.

And of course, we know
what happens to the righteous.

They're caught up to
meet Jesus in the air,

those who are alive.

And those who are
sleeping are resurrected.

And they don't

They all go up together,
those who are righteous alive

and the resurrected
dead go together with Jesus.

happening here, of course.

prelude to the 1000 years.

Now what is this bottomless pit?

It's a place that's unbounded,
it's a place of darkness.

If you remember the story
of the demons who were cast out

of the two demon
possessed men on the other side

casting those demons out,

those demons asked Jesus, they
said there was a legion of them,

they asked Jesus,
they pled with Jesus

not to throw them
into the place of darkness.

"Don't throw us into
the abyss," as it were.

Now I don't know what
that means, but I think,

evil angels being reserved

be that there's even limits

allow evil angels.

And if they step over

Or they get locked up somehow.

how that's happened.

But God has His
ways of doing that.

They're certainly restricted.

Because these evil
angels begged Jesus

them into the abyss.

Not to lock
them up, so to speak,

but to let them
go into the pigs.

Satan is getting locked up.

He's going to be

wonderful day for planet earth.

going to get locked up here.

bound him a thousand years..."

and shut him up,

so that he should
deceive the nations no more

till the thousand

So how is it that the
devil is chained up here?

Well, the key to that
is the word, "deceived."

I mean, there's nobody
here for him to deceive.

Now the earth is
going to be broken.

It's going to have
horrible earthquakes.

about it. Hail stones.

The whole earth
is just broken up.

In fact, it's going to
be a dark awful place to be.

Maybe the sun will still be
shining somewhat, I don't know.

But it's going to be a wreck.

All the people are dead.

Satan has spent
his whole time here

deceiving, deceiving,
deceiving, and destroying people

Now he has nobody to destroy.

So he's locked up.

He certainly
can't leave the earth.

from that standpoint.

But he also has no one to
deceive in a vast broken world

where the bones of dead
people are lying on the ground.

He can spend a thousand
years thinking about his choice

to go down a selfish road,

to reject the
principle of unselfish love.

And he can look at this world
for during that thousand years

and see what he
has accomplished.

It's a terrible
thing to think about.

But he deserves it.

Maybe being on death row,
maybe being on there is almost

worse than
finally meeting your fate,

which he certainly
will meet one of these days.

So let's continue to go
on in the Scripture here.

It says, "...that he should
deceive the nations no more

until the thousand
years were finished."

So what makes him
able now to deceive,

whereas before he
was unable to deceive?

Well, let's go ahead
and take a look at that.

Because in order
for that to happen

there would have
to be a resurrection,

not of the righteous
because they've already been
00:05:52.71\00:05:55.58
resurrected, but a
resurrection of the wicked.

Remember we talked
about the last time,

Jesus said there
are two resurrections.

There's the
resurrection of the righteous,

and the resurrection
of the condemnation.

So everybody
that's dead on the earth

is going to be
resurrected to meet judgment.

And of course, judgment
comes at the end of chapter 20.

talk about the lake of fire.

So they're going to be
resurrected to face judgment.

They won't have any covering.

But when they are resurrected,

now Satan is going to be
able to deceive them again.

So what is he going
to deceive them about?

But the camp of
the saints comes down.

So the saints who have been
in heaven for a thousand years,

they're going to come
back down, but they're safe

Jerusalem that John said,

I saw it coming
down from heaven.

But all these
wicked are resurrected.

And Satan goes
out to deceive them.

No doubt telling
them that, "Hey, look,

we can conquer this thing.

More about that later.

But now he's able to
deceive because he's got people

who are alive.

The wicked dead are
resurrected to meet judgment.

These were slain at the
brightness of Christ's coming.

And of course, we know
that those who were slain at the
00:07:20.14\00:07:22.20
brightness of Christ's coming,
they were not the good ones.

They were the bad ones.

So Satan is bound to this
earth, described as a pit,

a bottomless pit, just
in symbolic language here,

with no one to
deceive for a thousand years.

Now the next scene is
found in Revelation 20:4.

And it says, "And I saw
thrones, and they sat on them,

and judgment was
committed to them."

Judgment? I thought the
judgment had already come.
00:07:49.30\00:07:52.53
Well, it was the
judgment for those who
00:07:52.57\00:07:55.14
claimed to belong to Christ.
00:07:55.17\00:07:57.11
It separated the
tares from the wheat.
00:07:57.14\00:07:59.41
But this is a different
kind of a judgment, I think.

And he says, "I
saw the souls..."

Or the lives,
another way of saying that.

"...of those who
had been beheaded..."

These are people
that are martyred.

So the martyrs are there.

The people who went through
the final time of trouble,

they are there.

The righteous from all
generations, they're all there.

And it says, it goes on to
say, "...who had not worshiped

the beast, his
image, or received his mark

on their
foreheads or their hands.

And they lived and
reigned," or ruled,

"with Christ for
a thousand years."

What is this judgment about?

You know, God is going
to answer every question.

God has been
blamed for everything.

There's always questions.

But God wants to
produce a universe,

a universe that is
both free and sinless.

And the only way
that He can do that

is for everybody to be satisfied

that He was just
and true and good.

Those in heaven who are saying,
at the first of chapter 19,

they know that
God is just and true.

They have all the information.

They've seen it all.

But the people who are
saved, they don't have it.

They've trusted the Lord,
they believe He's just and true,

they believe that He is
love and that He is good,

but they don't have
all the information.

And I think during those 1000
years the books are going to be

righteous are going to have

There's also a
sense of judgment...

There's usually
two phases of judgment.

There's a judgment that
decides whether a person

is guilty or not guilty.

And if they're guilty,
there's another judgment

that decides what
their punishment will be.

And so it's only fair that
the ones who suffered so much

persecution and heartache
are going to be in charge

righteous judgment

execution of sinners.

Jesus gave His life for them.

But once they made up their

Sins that Jesus paid for, would
have wiped out of their life,

And so this judgment
will answer all the questions

of the righteous.

Throughout eternity no one
will ever have any questions

about the goodness of
God, or the justice of God,

or the fairness of God.

Sin is not going to
raise its ugly head again.

So we go now, of
course, to the last part

in the first resurrection

Now that's the
resurrection you want to be in.

Because if you're in that
one, you're going to be blessed

That, "holy,"

"to deceive all the nations in
the four corners of the earth,

Gog and Magog, and
to gather them to battle

the sand of the sea."

They do not come up
with everlasting life.

You know, the book of
Romans in chapter 6 says that

if we are buried with Christ...

What does it mean to
be buried with Christ?

It means to repent in front
of all the Ten Commandments.

Christ, then you will certainly

be resurrected with Christ.
