We've been tracing the history of the Jewish people 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.23 and that they are special people. 00:00:03.26\00:00:05.97 And when God works, He keeps His promises, 00:00:06.00\00:00:08.60 both the blessing and the curses, so to speak. 00:00:08.64\00:00:11.67 And we started tracing some of the difficulties 00:00:11.71\00:00:14.31 that the Jewish people have had. 00:00:14.34\00:00:15.98 And we talked about pagan Rome, and how it's been treating, 00:00:16.01\00:00:19.58 how it treated the Jewish people. 00:00:19.61\00:00:21.25 When Rome destroyed Jerusalem, they killed a million Jews, 00:00:21.28\00:00:26.79 they took 100,000 of them into captivity, 00:00:26.82\00:00:30.13 they disperse them as you please, 00:00:30.16\00:00:32.13 all over the Roman Empire. 00:00:32.16\00:00:33.53 Eventually, 00:00:33.56\00:00:34.90 they made the Jewish religion an illegal religion. 00:00:34.93\00:00:37.93 And they got so hard on this, 00:00:37.97\00:00:42.40 that they actually took away their privileges 00:00:42.44\00:00:44.51 to practice their religion. 00:00:44.54\00:00:46.74 And then, of course, you have 00:00:46.78\00:00:48.28 the rise of papal Rome. 00:00:48.31\00:00:51.11 And it seemed like the papal Rome, 00:00:51.15\00:00:53.38 the popes carry on the same crusades, 00:00:53.42\00:00:56.92 if you please against the Jewish people. 00:00:56.95\00:00:59.85 They taught Europe to hate the Jewish people. 00:00:59.89\00:01:02.86 Matter of fact, I was in Seattle, 00:01:02.89\00:01:04.49 Washington many years ago 00:01:04.53\00:01:05.96 and I heard the radio station there. 00:01:05.99\00:01:08.93 I remember it's like to this day 00:01:08.96\00:01:10.80 I was working on my camper a little bit, 00:01:10.83\00:01:12.77 a pop up camper. 00:01:12.80\00:01:14.34 And they were saying how Martin Luther 00:01:14.37\00:01:16.67 did all this diatribes against the Jewish people. 00:01:16.71\00:01:19.14 That was true. 00:01:19.17\00:01:20.98 Martin Luther, father of the Protestant 00:01:21.01\00:01:22.84 Reformation said some terrible things about Jews. 00:01:22.88\00:01:26.25 But where did he learn it from? 00:01:26.28\00:01:28.52 He learned it when he was in the monastery, 00:01:28.55\00:01:31.45 when he was subject to the propaganda, 00:01:31.49\00:01:35.39 if you please, of ancient, 00:01:35.42\00:01:37.99 or the popes during the Dark Ages. 00:01:38.03\00:01:40.80 But let me go back to that and we'll see 00:01:40.83\00:01:42.43 as papal Rome starts doing something similar. 00:01:42.46\00:01:44.40 We go to 337 AD, 00:01:44.43\00:01:48.87 the Emperor Constantine created a law 00:01:48.90\00:01:51.81 that a Christian cannot marry a Jew on the pain of death. 00:01:51.84\00:01:57.85 Can you imagine that? 00:01:57.88\00:01:59.45 Then the Emperor Justinian, who played a big role 00:01:59.48\00:02:02.65 in the beginning of the papacy and its power in 528. 00:02:02.68\00:02:06.52 He had prohibited Jews from building a synagogue, 00:02:06.55\00:02:09.36 reading the Bible in Hebrew, 00:02:09.39\00:02:11.19 assembling in public or to celebrate the Passover, 00:02:11.23\00:02:14.90 and they could not testify against Christians in court, 00:02:14.93\00:02:19.50 believe it or not. 00:02:19.53\00:02:21.00 And then in 613 AD, 00:02:21.04\00:02:22.90 a very serious persecution in Spain began. 00:02:22.94\00:02:26.57 The Jews were given the options 00:02:26.61\00:02:27.94 of either leaving Spain or converting to Christianity. 00:02:27.98\00:02:31.51 In fact, when the Muslims took over in Spain later, 00:02:31.55\00:02:37.59 they actually treated the Jews more kind 00:02:37.62\00:02:40.42 than the papacy did in Spain. 00:02:40.46\00:02:44.43 And they actually took their children away from them. 00:02:44.46\00:02:47.50 If they were six years older, they took them away 00:02:47.53\00:02:50.30 and taught them Christianity 00:02:50.33\00:02:51.83 and gave them a Catholic Christian education, 00:02:51.87\00:02:54.40 so to speak. 00:02:54.44\00:02:55.80 Well, if you come on down to the First Crusade, 00:02:55.84\00:02:58.77 the crusades were a very interesting thing. 00:02:58.81\00:03:01.91 But the crusades were launched in about 1096 AD. 00:03:01.94\00:03:06.55 And when they were, it was not only to liberate Jerusalem 00:03:06.58\00:03:08.75 from the Muslims, it was also to eliminate the Jews. 00:03:08.78\00:03:14.59 And they killed thousands of Jews 00:03:14.62\00:03:16.83 on the way to the "Holy Land." 00:03:16.86\00:03:21.86 And the Crusaders forced all the Jews of Jerusalem, 00:03:21.90\00:03:24.80 when they got there and conquered Jerusalem 00:03:24.83\00:03:26.97 the first time around. 00:03:27.00\00:03:28.44 They forced them into the central synagogue. 00:03:28.47\00:03:31.87 Now, these are supposed Christians, 00:03:31.91\00:03:33.38 but these are papal soldiers. 00:03:33.41\00:03:35.61 And they set it on fire. 00:03:35.64\00:03:37.91 And anybody who tried to escape 00:03:37.95\00:03:40.12 was pushed back into the burning building. 00:03:40.15\00:03:44.55 This kind of behavior kept on going 00:03:44.59\00:03:46.76 through most all the crusades. 00:03:46.79\00:03:48.72 And then in 1205, we have Pope Innocent III, 00:03:48.76\00:03:52.43 he wrote that the Jews by their own guilt 00:03:52.46\00:03:55.33 are consigned to perpetual servitude or slavery. 00:03:55.36\00:04:00.57 Well, you know, the Jews that were living then, 00:04:00.60\00:04:04.71 they didn't crucified Christ. 00:04:04.74\00:04:06.98 And many of the Jews, without the Jews, 00:04:07.01\00:04:08.81 there wouldn't be a Christian Church. 00:04:08.84\00:04:10.68 In fact, the Apostle Paul tells some of the Gentile churches 00:04:10.71\00:04:13.78 to take the Jewish churches, Judea as an example. 00:04:13.82\00:04:19.19 And Jesus Himself was a Jew. 00:04:19.22\00:04:21.89 But this is unusual hatred. 00:04:21.92\00:04:23.89 Satan hates the Jewish people. 00:04:23.93\00:04:26.43 He's operating through his agents, 00:04:26.46\00:04:28.26 he's operating through pagan Rome, 00:04:28.30\00:04:31.00 he's operating through, I'm sorry to say it, 00:04:31.03\00:04:34.00 the pope's papal Rome, 00:04:34.04\00:04:36.47 in order to destroy the Jewish people. 00:04:36.50\00:04:38.01 He wasn't destroyed off the earth, 00:04:38.04\00:04:39.37 because if they're gone, 00:04:39.41\00:04:41.04 they can't be that astonishment, 00:04:41.08\00:04:43.08 they can't be that byword, 00:04:43.11\00:04:44.78 they cannot be that lesson 00:04:44.81\00:04:46.68 that God is teaching the world through the Jewish people, 00:04:46.72\00:04:50.19 depending on their choice. 00:04:50.22\00:04:51.55 Either way they go, 00:04:51.59\00:04:52.92 they're going to teach that God keeps His promises. 00:04:52.95\00:04:56.79 And then if we come on down, 00:04:56.83\00:04:59.03 and I'm going to skip along here for just a little bit. 00:04:59.06\00:05:03.10 And in 1555, 00:05:03.13\00:05:05.43 there was a papal bull that required the Jews 00:05:05.47\00:05:08.57 in the Vatican controlled lands in Italy to wear badges. 00:05:08.60\00:05:12.51 That sound familiar? 00:05:12.54\00:05:14.54 To wear badges and be confined to ghettos. 00:05:14.58\00:05:18.41 Over 3,000 Jewish people 00:05:18.45\00:05:21.15 were crammed into eight acres of land. 00:05:21.18\00:05:24.89 And you can guess the horrible conditions 00:05:24.92\00:05:27.02 that they went through. 00:05:27.06\00:05:28.72 And then when you get down to 1648, 00:05:28.76\00:05:31.33 the massacres of the Jews in the Ukraine were terrible. 00:05:31.36\00:05:36.53 Hundred thousand Jews were murdered, 00:05:36.56\00:05:39.03 300 communities destroyed. 00:05:39.07\00:05:41.80 Now this is very interesting, you get down into about 1347 00:05:41.84\00:05:47.24 and you find the Black Death, depopulating a lot of Europe. 00:05:47.28\00:05:50.75 In fact, maybe a third of the population 00:05:50.78\00:05:53.31 of Europe perished in the Black Death, 00:05:53.35\00:05:55.92 as it's called today. 00:05:55.95\00:05:58.05 And these rats, of course, 00:05:58.09\00:05:59.69 as we know carried the Black Death. 00:05:59.72\00:06:01.96 But the Jews had inherited a very clean habits from God 00:06:01.99\00:06:07.56 who gave them those clean habits. 00:06:07.60\00:06:09.16 And they were not catching 00:06:09.20\00:06:10.97 the Black Death as much as the Gentiles. 00:06:11.00\00:06:15.07 The Christians were catching it, 00:06:15.10\00:06:16.91 the Catholic Christians were catching it. 00:06:16.94\00:06:19.01 And so people said, "Well, 00:06:19.04\00:06:20.38 where did this Black Death came, come from?" 00:06:20.41\00:06:21.84 And they wanted to blame it on somebody. 00:06:21.88\00:06:24.41 And as they made this, notice that the Jews 00:06:24.45\00:06:26.35 didn't get it as often as the others, 00:06:26.38\00:06:29.32 the Catholic Christians, they blamed it on the Jews. 00:06:29.35\00:06:33.29 They said the Jews are responsible, 00:06:33.32\00:06:35.69 and they killed thousands, thousands of Jews 00:06:35.72\00:06:39.93 and persecuted them terribly as a result. 00:06:39.96\00:06:44.53 We'll come down to 1806, 00:06:44.57\00:06:46.70 getting a little closer to modern times. 00:06:46.74\00:06:48.40 There was a French Jesuit priest 00:06:48.44\00:06:50.67 who wrote a paper blaming 00:06:50.71\00:06:54.18 the masons for the French Revolution. 00:06:54.21\00:06:57.78 But then he changed his mind and he wrote a another paper 00:06:57.81\00:07:00.98 and he blamed the French Revolution, 00:07:01.02\00:07:03.55 on no less than the Jews. 00:07:03.59\00:07:05.69 This started a mindset of conspiracy 00:07:05.72\00:07:09.16 that there was some kind of an international conspiracy. 00:07:09.19\00:07:13.56 In 1920, Henry Ford, you ever heard of him? 00:07:13.60\00:07:16.77 You drive Ford automobiles, of course. 00:07:16.80\00:07:19.27 Henry Ford was a good man in many ways, 00:07:19.30\00:07:21.30 but he began to study, he became fascinated 00:07:21.34\00:07:24.51 with the protocols that suggest 00:07:24.54\00:07:26.47 that there's a international conspiracy among the Jews. 00:07:26.51\00:07:30.98 This unfortunately led to a series 00:07:31.01\00:07:33.45 of anti-Jewish articles printed in The Dearborn Independent, 00:07:33.48\00:07:38.15 close, of course, to Detroit, Michigan. 00:07:38.19\00:07:40.99 But then you come down to World War I 00:07:41.02\00:07:43.69 and Germany loses World War I. 00:07:43.73\00:07:45.79 And there are many economic and great difficulties 00:07:45.83\00:07:48.26 that follow that and guess who they blamed? 00:07:48.30\00:07:52.17 And then, of course, you have Hitler publishing 00:07:52.20\00:07:55.84 his anti-diatribes against the Jewish people. 00:07:55.87\00:07:59.94 And he said this, "Today, 00:07:59.97\00:08:03.28 I believe I'm acting in accordance 00:08:03.31\00:08:05.11 with the will of Almighty Creator." 00:08:05.15\00:08:06.95 Wonder where he got that? 00:08:06.98\00:08:08.32 He was a Roman Catholic, by the way. 00:08:08.35\00:08:10.25 He was never excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church, 00:08:10.29\00:08:13.36 and the Roman Catholic popes made a treaty with him. 00:08:13.39\00:08:17.49 So this is very interesting. 00:08:17.53\00:08:19.49 And then he goes on to say, 00:08:19.53\00:08:21.66 "By defending myself against the Jews, 00:08:21.70\00:08:24.20 I am fighting for the work of the Lord." 00:08:24.23\00:08:27.40 So he saw it as a religious responsibility 00:08:27.44\00:08:30.37 to destroy the Jewish people. 00:08:30.41\00:08:32.51 But if you go to Romans Chapter 8, 00:08:32.54\00:08:34.44 and we want to focus on that for the next few minutes here. 00:08:34.48\00:08:38.01 Romans Chapter 8, I'm sorry, Romans 9:1-5, 00:08:38.05\00:08:42.15 the Apostle Paul says, He says this, 00:08:42.18\00:08:45.59 "I tell the truth in Christ. 00:08:45.62\00:08:47.06 I'm not lying." 00:08:47.09\00:08:48.42 He says, 00:08:48.46\00:08:49.79 "My conscience also bearing the witness in the Holy Spirit, 00:08:49.82\00:08:52.19 that I have great sorrow and anguish for my brethren, 00:08:52.23\00:08:57.07 my countrymen according to the flesh, " the Jews. 00:08:57.10\00:08:59.93 Then he says this, 00:08:59.97\00:09:01.30 "Are the Israelites to whom pertain the adoption, 00:09:01.34\00:09:04.94 the glory, the covenants, 00:09:04.97\00:09:08.48 and the coming of Christ in the flesh 00:09:08.51\00:09:12.95 who is overall and eternally blessed by God. 00:09:12.98\00:09:15.12 Amen." 00:09:15.15\00:09:16.48 So it says the Jews receive some wonderful things. 00:09:16.52\00:09:19.49 Then he goes on to say that 00:09:19.52\00:09:20.86 Christ is a stumbling block to the Jewish people. 00:09:20.89\00:09:23.63 And he tells us why he was a stumbling block. 00:09:23.66\00:09:26.39 He says in Romans 9:31-33, "But Israel, 00:09:26.43\00:09:29.83 pursuing the law of righteousness, 00:09:29.86\00:09:32.30 did not attain it. 00:09:32.33\00:09:33.67 Why?" He says, 00:09:33.70\00:09:35.04 "Because they did not seek it by faith." 00:09:35.07\00:09:37.77 And the Gentile Christians, the Christians, 00:09:37.81\00:09:40.28 of course, sought it by faith. 00:09:40.31\00:09:41.64 Now there are many Jewish Christians 00:09:41.68\00:09:43.11 who did seek it by faith and became Christians. 00:09:43.14\00:09:46.41 And then he says, as it is written, "I lay in Zion, 00:09:46.45\00:09:49.42 a stumbling stone, a rock of offence, 00:09:49.45\00:09:51.75 and whoever believes in Jesus will not be put to shame." 00:09:51.79\00:09:56.06 Then he asked the question, 00:09:56.09\00:09:57.43 "Are the Jews totally cast away? 00:09:57.46\00:09:59.76 Has God cast away His people?" 00:09:59.79\00:10:01.36 Meaning, has he cast away eternally. 00:10:01.40\00:10:03.47 And he said, "Certainly not." 00:10:03.50\00:10:05.10 And he pictures himself as exhibit A, 00:10:05.13\00:10:08.60 that God has not cast away His people. 00:10:08.64\00:10:12.21 And then he has an amazing verse 00:10:12.24\00:10:13.61 about the future of Israel. 00:10:13.64\00:10:16.18 "I say then, have they stumbled they should fall? 00:10:16.21\00:10:18.01 Certainly not! 00:10:18.05\00:10:19.38 But through their fall, to provoke to jealousy, 00:10:19.41\00:10:23.65 the Gentiles. 00:10:23.69\00:10:26.32 Now if their fall is for the riches of the world 00:10:26.35\00:10:29.26 and their failure for the Gentiles, 00:10:29.29\00:10:31.03 how much more will their fullness be?" 00:10:31.06\00:10:34.06 Of course, we know the Jews are the roots 00:10:34.10\00:10:35.46 of the Christian faith. 00:10:35.50\00:10:36.83 And he pictures this tree, 00:10:36.87\00:10:38.73 a tree that some branches are broken off, 00:10:38.77\00:10:41.40 Jewish branches broken off. 00:10:41.44\00:10:43.84 And then he says, "Why?" 00:10:43.87\00:10:45.21 They're broken off because of their unbelief. 00:10:45.24\00:10:47.68 But he says they can be grafted back 00:10:47.71\00:10:49.44 into that tree by faith in Christ. 00:10:49.48\00:10:54.02 So the way back home for the Jewish people 00:10:54.05\00:10:56.25 is by faith in Christ. 00:10:56.28\00:10:58.15 And the Gentiles, he says, "Don't get proud." 00:10:58.19\00:11:00.26 He says, "You can be broken out of that tree, 00:11:00.29\00:11:02.79 if you give up your faith." 00:11:02.82\00:11:04.16 I'm paraphrasing, 00:11:04.19\00:11:05.53 but you can read it in Romans Chapter 11. 00:11:05.56\00:11:08.33 But then I think he makes some prophecies, 00:11:08.36\00:11:10.23 some predictions about the Jewish people 00:11:10.27\00:11:12.63 and their role in the end of time. 00:11:12.67\00:11:15.64 He says that everybody in that tree, 00:11:15.67\00:11:18.04 in essence will be really Israel, 00:11:18.07\00:11:20.51 and everybody by faith in that tree 00:11:20.54\00:11:22.68 is going to be saved. 00:11:22.71\00:11:24.51 But then he says, 00:11:24.55\00:11:25.88 talking about the Jewish people, 00:11:25.91\00:11:27.32 he says in 11:15, 00:11:27.35\00:11:31.99 "For if their being cast away 00:11:32.02\00:11:34.22 is the reconciling of the world, 00:11:34.26\00:11:36.42 what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?" 00:11:36.46\00:11:41.00 When does the resurrection happen? 00:11:41.03\00:11:43.33 The resurrection happens when Jesus comes again. 00:11:43.37\00:11:46.50 Paul is predicting, I believe, 00:11:46.53\00:11:48.74 a great movement among Jewish people 00:11:48.77\00:11:51.87 to return to Jesus as their Messiah. 00:11:51.91\00:11:55.61 And when that happens, 00:11:55.64\00:11:57.48 I think we're going to see Jewish people 00:11:57.51\00:11:59.61 have a great role to play in the end of time. 00:11:59.65\00:12:03.08 And I'm not so sure that the mark of the beast 00:12:03.12\00:12:06.12 and the whole issue over the Sabbath 00:12:06.15\00:12:07.99 will not be an attitude once again, 00:12:08.02\00:12:10.59 a resurrection of those antisemitic, 00:12:10.63\00:12:14.16 anti-Jewish attitudes, 00:12:14.20\00:12:16.73 so that anybody that keeps the Sabbath 00:12:16.77\00:12:19.00 will be called a Jew. 00:12:19.03\00:12:22.04 I'll tell you, we're going to see strange things 00:12:22.07\00:12:24.31 that are coming. 00:12:24.34\00:12:25.67 But we're going to see many Jewish people saved, 00:12:25.71\00:12:28.48 and when they are, they're going to stand up, 00:12:28.51\00:12:30.95 and they're going to say, "This Jesus was our Jesus. 00:12:30.98\00:12:33.55 This incredible Jesus was our Messiah." 00:12:33.58\00:12:36.79 And they're going to teach and preach and be a witness 00:12:36.82\00:12:40.39 to the unchangeableness of God's law. 00:12:40.42\00:12:43.36 You can't change God's law. 00:12:43.39\00:12:45.59 They're going to shout that 00:12:45.63\00:12:47.40 if you please from the rooftops. 00:12:47.43\00:12:50.27 And I think then you're going to see Jews and Gentiles 00:12:50.30\00:12:52.93 come together in that Jewish tree, 00:12:52.97\00:12:56.44 all there by faith, 00:12:56.47\00:12:58.71 all trusting this marvelous Messiah, 00:12:58.74\00:13:01.84 all giving a witness to the world that 00:13:01.88\00:13:04.51 Jesus is coming and you've got to get ready, 00:13:04.55\00:13:07.92 repent of your sins, 00:13:07.95\00:13:09.58 be in harmony with God's Ten Commandments. 00:13:09.62\00:13:12.42 Listen, we have nothing to fear, 00:13:12.45\00:13:14.92 if we put our trust in Jesus, this incredible Jesus, 00:13:14.96\00:13:20.20 this marvelous Jesus. 00:13:20.23\00:13:22.96
