The world was shocked when Hubble discovered that 00:00:01.96\00:00:04.73 the universe had a beginning. 00:00:04.77\00:00:06.60 People started, many of the evolutionists started saying, 00:00:06.63\00:00:08.77 "Oh no, the creationists will take advantage of this." 00:00:08.80\00:00:11.77 Because they had heard about Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning 00:00:11.81\00:00:14.58 God created the heavens and the earth." 00:00:14.61\00:00:16.08 There's an interesting story told by Dr. Stephen Meyer. 00:00:16.38\00:00:19.61 Einstein had heard about this and he was troubled about it. 00:00:19.65\00:00:22.92 So he tried to put together a formula to show that 00:00:22.95\00:00:25.79 this really wasn't true and that the universe had 00:00:25.82\00:00:28.32 been here all along and it was eternal. 00:00:28.36\00:00:30.76 But he was invited out to look through Mr. Hubble's telescope. 00:00:30.96\00:00:35.36 There's a newsreel of actually Einstein coming out 00:00:35.66\00:00:39.03 after looking at the telescope. 00:00:39.07\00:00:40.80 And Einstein comes out and he says, "I now see the necessity 00:00:41.70\00:00:46.01 of a beginning." 00:00:46.21\00:00:47.54 And then later he said his fudge factor that he invented 00:00:47.64\00:00:51.68 to keep matter eternal was one of the greatest mistakes 00:00:51.98\00:00:54.82 of his scientific career. 00:00:54.85\00:00:56.55 So if the universe had a beginning, 00:00:57.95\00:01:01.66 then it no doubt had a Creator. 00:01:02.99\00:01:05.63 And that's exactly what the late Stephen Hawkins said 00:01:06.13\00:01:10.20 in his, Brief History of Time. 00:01:10.23\00:01:12.40 Quoting, "So long as the universe had a beginning, 00:01:12.43\00:01:15.24 we could suppose..." 00:01:15.27\00:01:16.60 And Stephen Hawkins, it seemed like he could 00:01:16.71\00:01:18.04 never make up his mind. 00:01:18.07\00:01:19.41 "...we could suppose that it had a creator." 00:01:19.54\00:01:22.91 Well I think Stephen Hawkins was on to something. 00:01:22.94\00:01:25.21 Genesis certainly said that it had a Creator. 00:01:25.25\00:01:27.85 Nothing comes from nothing. 00:01:27.88\00:01:30.15 Now we also live in a finely tuned universe. 00:01:31.02\00:01:33.02 I've referred to that several times because 00:01:33.05\00:01:34.72 God runs His universe by laws. 00:01:34.76\00:01:36.59 And He runs our life by law. 00:01:36.62\00:01:38.63 That's to preserve our freedom and to keep life. 00:01:38.99\00:01:41.50 You have to protect life with laws. 00:01:41.73\00:01:43.87 And that's how God does it. 00:01:43.90\00:01:45.30 Now our universe is finely tuned. 00:01:45.33\00:01:46.94 If you just move the moon just a little tiny bit, 00:01:46.97\00:01:50.17 then life will cease to exist on earth. 00:01:50.64\00:01:52.61 If you move the solar system just a hair, 00:01:52.64\00:01:56.11 life will cease to exist on earth. 00:01:56.14\00:01:57.61 Just change the expanse of the universe, and the same thing. 00:01:57.65\00:02:01.22 It's just really, not just a little bit finely tuned, 00:02:01.25\00:02:04.45 this thing is so finely tuned that they're saying 00:02:04.49\00:02:08.09 it's like 10 to the 37th power. 00:02:08.12\00:02:10.66 I'm going to explain what that means in just a moment. 00:02:10.69\00:02:12.63 But it's a measurement that is so fine and so careful. 00:02:12.79\00:02:17.63 But the universe, it has at least 200 of these 00:02:18.13\00:02:21.70 that they've discovered, 200 of these finely tuned things 00:02:21.74\00:02:25.11 that keep it in balance. 00:02:25.14\00:02:26.88 So what does it mean that it's finely tuned 00:02:26.91\00:02:30.31 to 10 to the 37th power? 00:02:30.45\00:02:32.51 Well if you were to cover the North American continent 00:02:32.55\00:02:34.85 in dimes all the way to the moon, 00:02:35.28\00:02:38.35 which is 239,000 miles... 00:02:38.39\00:02:40.76 By the way, in comparison, the federal deficit 00:02:40.79\00:02:44.13 or the federal debt would cover one square mile 00:02:44.23\00:02:47.86 less than two feet deep with dimes. 00:02:47.90\00:02:49.83 So that gives you kind of a comparison. 00:02:49.86\00:02:52.30 Next, after you cover the American continent with dimes 00:02:52.53\00:02:55.34 all the way to the moon, pile dimes from here to the moon 00:02:55.37\00:02:58.84 on a billion other continents... 00:02:58.87\00:03:01.68 ...the size of North America. 00:03:05.05\00:03:07.08 Paint one of those dimes red in all of those billions 00:03:07.65\00:03:12.72 or probably trillions of dimes, paint one of them red, 00:03:12.75\00:03:16.32 blindfold a person, 00:03:17.09\00:03:19.23 and ask him to pick out the red dime. 00:03:20.86\00:03:24.63 His chances of picking out that red dime 00:03:24.90\00:03:28.27 are 10 to the 37th power. 00:03:28.37\00:03:31.81 In other words, it's really impossible. 00:03:32.21\00:03:35.44 Fred Hoyle, a British astrophysicist, 00:03:36.78\00:03:39.41 said this, very fascinating what he says. 00:03:39.85\00:03:42.88 He says, "A common sense interpretation of the facts 00:03:42.92\00:03:47.89 suggests that a super intellect has monkeyed with physics, 00:03:47.92\00:03:51.93 as well as chemistry and biology, 00:03:51.96\00:03:55.76 and that there are no blind forces..." 00:03:56.53\00:03:59.17 See, evolution is based on blind forces. 00:03:59.20\00:04:01.84 "...there are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature. 00:04:01.87\00:04:05.41 The numbers one calculates from the facts 00:04:05.81\00:04:08.74 seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion 00:04:08.84\00:04:14.62 beyond question." 00:04:14.65\00:04:16.48 In other words, a super intelligence 00:04:16.52\00:04:19.72 has put this together and fine-tuned the universe. 00:04:19.75\00:04:23.96 Arthur Schawlow, if I've said that correctly, 00:04:25.09\00:04:29.80 professor of physics at Stanford University, 00:04:29.83\00:04:33.74 he's a 1981 Nobel Prize winner in physics, 00:04:33.77\00:04:37.07 he said this about the universe. 00:04:37.91\00:04:39.94 He says, "It seems to me when confronted with the 00:04:40.58\00:04:42.71 marvels of life and the universe, 00:04:42.74\00:04:46.35 one must ask this question: 00:04:46.38\00:04:48.72 It's not just why, but how did all of this come about?" 00:04:50.02\00:04:55.49 He says, "The only possible answers are religious." 00:04:56.62\00:05:00.80 He said, "I find a need for God in the universe 00:05:01.20\00:05:04.67 and in my own life." 00:05:04.97\00:05:06.30 What a wonderful testimony. 00:05:06.33\00:05:07.90 There was, some time back when they discovered 00:05:08.64\00:05:11.07 the universe had a beginning, there was a picture 00:05:11.11\00:05:13.78 made by someone that here were scientists working so hard 00:05:13.81\00:05:17.88 and they were trying to find out all about the universe. 00:05:17.91\00:05:20.78 And they climbed up the final hill, 00:05:20.82\00:05:23.32 and just as they got over the hill they found a bunch of 00:05:23.75\00:05:26.02 theologians on the other side. 00:05:26.05\00:05:28.29 Well the answers are found in Scripture, because it's clear. 00:05:29.16\00:05:33.36 Here's George Greenstein, he's an astronomer, 00:05:33.40\00:05:36.67 he says, "As we survey all the evidence, 00:05:37.37\00:05:40.57 the thought insistently arises..." 00:05:40.77\00:05:44.17 In other words, it keeps coming up. 00:05:44.21\00:05:45.61 that some supernatural agency, or Agency," he said, 00:05:45.64\00:05:50.11 "must be involved." 00:05:50.15\00:05:51.95 It's impossible. 00:05:51.98\00:05:53.35 "It's impossible that suddenly, without intending to, 00:05:53.62\00:05:56.69 we have stumbled..." 00:05:56.72\00:05:58.05 Oh no, he puts it this way. I'm sorry. 00:05:58.15\00:06:00.12 "Is it possible that suddenly, without intending to, 00:06:00.16\00:06:04.09 we have stumbled upon scientific proof 00:06:04.13\00:06:07.93 of the existence of a Supreme Being? 00:06:08.76\00:06:11.57 Was it God who stepped in," he asked, "and so providentially 00:06:12.50\00:06:16.87 crafted our cosmos for our benefit?" 00:06:16.91\00:06:20.14 Well the answer is a simple, yes. 00:06:20.18\00:06:23.24 It's a big, yes. 00:06:23.28\00:06:24.85 God put this whole thing together. 00:06:24.95\00:06:27.42 So the first two discoveries is the earth had a beginning, 00:06:28.35\00:06:32.75 the universe had a beginning. 00:06:32.79\00:06:34.26 And number two, it's finely tuned beyond 00:06:34.36\00:06:38.03 human comprehension. 00:06:38.06\00:06:39.73 And the third thing is the discovery of DNA. 00:06:39.86\00:06:43.40 All of these prove the existence of God. 00:06:43.43\00:06:45.83 In fact, someone said, "Who was instructing the cell? 00:06:46.50\00:06:50.91 Who wrote the script?" 00:06:50.94\00:06:52.27 This is Dr. Antony Flew, by the way. 00:06:52.31\00:06:54.04 And he became a Christian. 00:06:54.08\00:06:56.31 He was a well known evolutionist. 00:06:56.48\00:06:58.91 And I think he authored several evolutionistic books. 00:06:59.05\00:07:02.72 He said, "It's legitimate to ask oneself regarding 00:07:03.08\00:07:05.75 the three billion letter code instructing the cell. 00:07:05.79\00:07:10.96 Who wrote the script? 00:07:11.39\00:07:13.29 Who placed this working code in the cell?" 00:07:13.33\00:07:17.13 Do you know that the trillions of cells that you have 00:07:17.93\00:07:20.47 in your body, that every one of those cells 00:07:20.50\00:07:22.84 has a transportation system, 00:07:23.10\00:07:24.91 has all kinds of manufacturing going on? 00:07:25.01\00:07:27.68 It's an incredible complex machine. 00:07:27.71\00:07:30.15 Every one of the three, or how many, 00:07:30.18\00:07:33.15 trillions of cells are in your body. 00:07:33.18\00:07:34.85 As one person said, every cell in your human body 00:07:35.02\00:07:38.02 is busier and more complex than New York City. 00:07:38.05\00:07:42.39 How about that? 00:07:42.42\00:07:43.76 But who wrote the script? 00:07:44.66\00:07:46.19 Who wrote the instructions? 00:07:46.39\00:07:47.86 That's what Antony Flew has said. 00:07:47.90\00:07:49.76 President Clinton congratulated those who had 00:07:50.60\00:07:53.60 constructed the human genome. 00:07:53.64\00:07:56.60 And that was in 2000. 00:07:56.81\00:07:58.97 He said, "Today we are learning the language 00:07:59.01\00:08:01.48 in which God created life. 00:08:01.51\00:08:03.71 "And we're gaining," he says, "ever more awe 00:08:03.75\00:08:06.21 for the complexity, the beauty, and the wonder 00:08:06.25\00:08:09.15 of God's most divine and sacred gift." 00:08:09.18\00:08:11.42 Dr. Francis Collins, the director of the project, 00:08:11.45\00:08:14.82 followed Clinton to the podium, and he stated this. 00:08:14.86\00:08:18.13 He said, "It is humbling for me and awe inspiring 00:08:18.29\00:08:21.43 to realize that we have caught the first glimpse 00:08:21.46\00:08:26.00 of our own instruction book previously known only to God." 00:08:26.40\00:08:32.11 Your DNA is marvelous. 00:08:33.04\00:08:35.61 I don't have time to tell you. 00:08:35.64\00:08:36.98 The DNA can be read forward and backward, 00:08:37.01\00:08:40.52 and there's a whole bunch of other complexities 00:08:40.55\00:08:42.22 that go with it. 00:08:42.25\00:08:43.59 Try writing a paragraph, just one small paragraph, 00:08:43.85\00:08:46.69 that you can read forward and backward 00:08:46.72\00:08:48.59 and make any sense out of it. 00:08:48.62\00:08:50.23 It's an incredible thing. 00:08:50.33\00:08:52.09 Werner Gitt, he's the professor of Information Systems. 00:08:52.36\00:08:55.66 These are people that tell us how you put information 00:08:55.70\00:08:59.57 together, like computers and all of those kinds of things. 00:08:59.60\00:09:03.24 And he put it succinctly. 00:09:03.34\00:09:04.87 He said, "The basic flaw of all evolutionary views 00:09:05.17\00:09:08.98 is the origin of the information in living things, 00:09:09.08\00:09:13.62 in living beings." 00:09:13.65\00:09:14.98 And he goes on to say, he says, "It's never been shown 00:09:15.02\00:09:18.12 that a coding system and information 00:09:18.42\00:09:22.26 could originate itself." 00:09:22.29\00:09:24.69 He said, "The information theorems predict 00:09:25.36\00:09:27.60 that this will never ever be possible." 00:09:27.63\00:09:29.73 He's saying it's impossible that this information 00:09:29.76\00:09:32.70 came from nowhere, that it just generated itself. 00:09:32.73\00:09:36.24 And that's what evolutionists would have you to believe. 00:09:36.27\00:09:38.27 That kind of crazy stuff. 00:09:38.37\00:09:40.78 He goes on to say, "A purely material origin of life..." 00:09:43.28\00:09:46.61 And that's what evolutionists are. 00:09:46.65\00:09:47.98 They believe it's all material. 00:09:48.02\00:09:49.58 "...is thus ruled out. 00:09:49.85\00:09:51.19 The coding system used for living beings 00:09:51.22\00:09:54.59 is optional from an engineering standpoint." 00:09:54.62\00:09:57.53 Well I've got to get to John Lennox for a little bit. 00:09:57.56\00:09:59.33 John Lennox is a pure mathematician 00:09:59.56\00:10:02.00 from the University of Oxford. 00:10:02.13\00:10:04.37 He's a fellow of mathematics, he's world known. 00:10:04.40\00:10:06.77 And he's a Christian, he's a wonderful Christian person. 00:10:06.80\00:10:09.47 I've really enjoyed him. 00:10:09.50\00:10:11.57 And he gets into these debates. 00:10:11.61\00:10:13.91 You know, there was the debate about, or the book that was 00:10:13.94\00:10:16.98 written, The God Delusion; he counters that. 00:10:17.01\00:10:20.72 He says, "No, it's the atheist delusion." 00:10:20.75\00:10:23.45 And this is why he says it's a delusion. 00:10:23.49\00:10:25.62 He says, "Well you evolutionists, don't you believe 00:10:25.65\00:10:28.26 that you mind, your brain, came because of 00:10:28.29\00:10:30.59 millions and zillions of all kinds of, 00:10:30.63\00:10:32.39 by chance, little things? 00:10:32.43\00:10:35.10 That's how your brain came into existence?" 00:10:35.13\00:10:37.10 He says, "So tell me, how can you trust your brain?" 00:10:37.30\00:10:42.20 He says, "No, the universe was created. 00:10:42.30\00:10:45.34 And your brain was created so that you can appreciate 00:10:45.37\00:10:48.48 what God has done in His universe." 00:10:48.51\00:10:51.55 He says there are a lot of things that 00:10:51.85\00:10:53.18 science can't tell you. 00:10:53.21\00:10:55.02 He says, you know, Aunt Matilda makes a cake. 00:10:55.92\00:10:58.92 And he says, your science can tell you a lot of 00:10:59.42\00:11:01.32 good things about her cake. 00:11:01.36\00:11:02.69 You know, maybe how hot it was baked, 00:11:02.72\00:11:04.06 and what's in the icing, etcetera, etcetera. 00:11:04.09\00:11:05.96 But he says, there's one thing that science cannot tell you 00:11:06.29\00:11:09.20 about Aunt Matilda's cake. 00:11:09.40\00:11:11.20 And that is, why Aunt Matilda made the cake. 00:11:11.23\00:11:16.07 And then, of course, he noted that laws have an agent. 00:11:17.37\00:11:20.64 That's one of the big things they say now. 00:11:20.68\00:11:22.01 "Oh yeah, well all these laws, the law of gravity, 00:11:22.04\00:11:24.91 that's what makes it all work." 00:11:24.95\00:11:26.31 He says, "What?" 00:11:26.35\00:11:27.68 He says laws have to have an agent. 00:11:28.32\00:11:31.79 He says, in essence, and I'm paraphrasing some of his stuff, 00:11:32.15\00:11:35.19 and my apologies to him, 00:11:35.22\00:11:37.16 but he says, the law of two plus two equals four 00:11:37.69\00:11:40.60 will not put money in your bank. 00:11:40.63\00:11:43.53 No, in order to get money in your bank account, 00:11:43.77\00:11:46.07 you have to have an agent. 00:11:46.10\00:11:49.44 You have to have somebody that put it there. 00:11:49.64\00:11:51.94 Somebody puts those laws into effect. 00:11:51.97\00:11:54.34 The law itself doesn't make anything. 00:11:54.38\00:11:56.81 The agent makes the law work. 00:11:56.85\00:11:59.31 You know, he says the evolutionists always say, 00:12:00.08\00:12:03.02 "Well, where did your God come from if He created it?" 00:12:03.05\00:12:05.29 Well, I love his answer. 00:12:05.32\00:12:06.86 He says, "Well listen, we got rid of created gods. 00:12:06.89\00:12:09.96 We got rid of created gods a long time ago. 00:12:09.99\00:12:12.06 We don't believe as Christians in created gods. 00:12:12.09\00:12:14.46 Our God didn't come from anywhere. 00:12:14.56\00:12:16.16 Because our God always has been and He always will be." 00:12:16.20\00:12:20.57 He tells the story, he said, eating dinner with an 00:12:22.27\00:12:26.17 evolutionist because of some kind of program, 00:12:26.47\00:12:30.35 and the evolutionist looked at him and said, 00:12:31.05\00:12:32.98 "Oh no, this is not going to be a very good night." 00:12:33.01\00:12:34.48 And he says, "Listen..." 00:12:34.52\00:12:35.85 They got down to the discussion, he says, 00:12:35.88\00:12:37.32 "Tell me," he says, "this menu, you can tell me 00:12:37.52\00:12:39.75 a lot about this menu, but tell me what the letters mean. 00:12:39.79\00:12:42.86 Where did that come from?" 00:12:42.89\00:12:44.23 The man said, "I've spent a lifetime in my laboratory 00:12:44.26\00:12:47.00 trying to figure out how the information got in there." 00:12:47.03\00:12:51.13 And then, of course, you've got dinosaurs today 00:12:51.17\00:12:53.44 who are said to be 70 or 80 million years, 00:12:53.47\00:12:56.14 and they've got soft tissue. 00:12:56.24\00:12:58.01 Well the list could go on, and I've run out of time, 00:12:58.11\00:13:00.84 but I want to tell you, you can trust the Bible. 00:13:00.88\00:13:04.61 You can trust the Creator of the universe. 00:13:04.81\00:13:07.08 He has a purpose for your life. 00:13:07.12\00:13:08.85 He can do wonderful and marvelous things for you. 00:13:09.05\00:13:11.92 He created you, He made you in His own image. 00:13:11.99\00:13:14.99 And He loves you. 00:13:15.02\00:13:16.36 He wants you to be His child. 00:13:16.39\00:13:17.73 Don't listen to these evolutionists. 00:13:17.76\00:13:19.09 They don't know what they're talking about. 00:13:19.13\00:13:20.46 Don't listen to the atheists. 00:13:20.50\00:13:21.83 Don't let them rob you of the beauty and the power 00:13:21.86\00:13:25.60 and the love of God, your heavenly Father, 00:13:25.63\00:13:29.14 your Creator who really loves you. 00:13:29.17\00:13:32.91
