And it's a 00:05:19.98\00:05:24.19 mind boggling number. So it's wonderful to be able to speak to a Colosseum full of people 00:05:24.19\00:05:28.12 from this friendly church. And that's really what's happening. 00:05:28.12\00:05:33.43 Well, tonight, we're going to be talking about not so much a particular stories, but a series 00:05:33.43\00:05:39.27 of vignettes about a great Bible character and that person is Mary. It's sometimes known as 00:05:39.27\00:05:49.11 Mary Magdalen and I I was so fascinating is that wind through the Bible and I found 00:05:49.11\00:05:52.48 out that. In this is in many ways the most devoted disciple of Jesus. New no sudden it 00:05:52.48\00:06:00.56 possible because Mary was not an apostle, but she was a disciple. 00:06:00.56\00:06:05.83 To see where the Lord brought her from and letter to. I just found it so inspiring to 00:06:05.83\00:06:11.47 actually wrote a book about one of 15 years ago called and Jesus Feet. The Gospel, according to 00:06:11.47\00:06:17.31 Mary Magdalen because you study and there is about 7 times that Mary appears in the Gospels 00:06:17.31\00:06:25.05 with Jesus, almost always at his feet at some point in the story. And I'll tell you up 00:06:25.05\00:06:30.12 front what they are. Here's what our sign in us tonight. We're going to see Mary Jesus 00:06:30.12\00:06:35.59 feet in shame. Mary and Jesus Feet in study. Mary and Jesus feet in sorrow. In sacrifice 00:06:35.59\00:06:46.33 in surrender. In service and in song. And you're going to see there's about 12 times. 00:06:46.33\00:06:55.51 You find the phrase Mary Magdalen. But Mary Magdalen is not the only time that she 00:06:55.51\00:07:01.08 appears that not only under that name. And so let's begin our study by going with me to 00:07:01.08\00:07:06.25 the book of John Gospel of John Chapter 8 and we'll start with the first verse. And this 00:07:06.25\00:07:10.89 is AM an amazing passage of scripture. But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives and early 00:07:10.89\00:07:19.50 in the morning. He came again into the temple and he sat down and he taught them. Then 00:07:19.50\00:07:27.51 the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman. Caught in adultery doesn't give her 00:07:27.51\00:07:31.95 name. But you see later on talks about something that happened 00:07:31.95\00:07:36.28 with Mary and one gospel just says a certain woman. You'll understand why as we proceed. 00:07:36.28\00:07:41.92 Caught the act of adultery. And when they had said her in the midst, they said to Jesus 00:07:41.92\00:07:50.17 teacher, this woman was caught in adultery in the very act. It's not like, you know, rumors 00:07:50.17\00:07:53.17 going around. And it says. No Moses and the law commanded us that such should be s*****. But 00:07:53.17\00:08:01.31 what do you say this? They said tempting him that they might have something to which 00:08:01.31\00:08:06.25 to accuse him. Now what they're doing is. The religious leaders 00:08:06.25\00:08:13.76 were very jealous of Jesus and his popularity in his power. His influence for the people, even 00:08:13.76\00:08:17.66 pilot during the trial of Christ. It says he knew that they handed him over because 00:08:17.66\00:08:22.83 of jealousy. And they're trying to find some way to take out. 00:08:22.83\00:08:30.77 And they thought, well, if we do it, the mom's going to be mad at us because people love and we've 00:08:30.77\00:08:34.68 got to get the Romans to do it. And only the Romans since they occupied Israel. Only the 00:08:34.68\00:08:40.52 Roman courts could pronounce the death But according to the Jewish law, if a person was 00:08:40.52\00:08:45.82 caught in the act of adultery, man or woman. They would be still. And so they thought we 00:08:45.82\00:08:52.13 will set this woman up. We know she's got a reputation. we'll bring it to the temple. 00:08:52.13\00:08:57.97 And when Jesus says yes, the law, most assist owner with donor, then we'll run to the 00:08:57.97\00:09:01.34 Romans and say, you know, this religious teacher says that he doesn't have to obey the law, 00:09:01.34\00:09:06.91 Caesar. He just pronounced the death penalty on somebody. The Romans would arrest him. If 00:09:06.91\00:09:12.55 Jesus said no, we're not allowed to do that because we're under 00:09:12.55\00:09:15.48 the Romans. Then they get the people upset because they think he's loyal to the Romans. The 00:09:15.48\00:09:19.19 thought we've there's no way out. So this is a very clever trap. And so there's this woman. 00:09:19.19\00:09:28.30 Who I believe is Mary only explain. Sometimes she's of called Mary Mary of Bethany. 00:09:28.30\00:09:36.87 She has a family that is in not Jerusalem. Lazarus assistant Martha and she stays 00:09:36.87\00:09:40.81 with him. She has fallen in her life and she set up business in 00:09:40.81\00:09:47.32 a place called Magdalen. Magna is on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. It's where the Roman 00:09:47.32\00:09:51.79 soldiers went for vacation. And they had a lot of Braunfels there and to say that someone is 00:09:51.79\00:09:57.66 Mary from Angola, his part me, it's like saying, Mary, from the strip. If you know what 00:09:57.66\00:10:04.60 I'm saying, friends are in Las Vegas. In case you wonder what I'm talking about. just the 2 00:10:04.60\00:10:10.71 words tell a story all by themselves. This happens during the feast when there's 00:10:10.71\00:10:15.21 a crowd in Jerusalem and his business interests one. So she set up. They don't care about 00:10:15.21\00:10:18.85 her. They're going to use or they're willing to kill her to make a point. They set it up. 00:10:18.85\00:10:26.02 You notice the man is not there. If you're caught in the act. Last time I checked, that 00:10:26.02\00:10:31.09 requires at least 2 people. All right. But he's not there. And helps us understand this 00:10:31.09\00:10:36.87 is a trap. And all of us. And can you imagine your? In one of 00:10:36.87\00:10:44.61 the most personal circumstances and all the religious leaders charge him. And before you can 00:10:44.61\00:10:50.01 get yourself together, they drag you off. To the holiest place in the world. With everyone 00:10:50.01\00:10:55.52 talking. And they throw you down at the feet of the holiest man 00:10:55.52\00:11:02.72 who's ever lived. That's got to be a mortifying experience. So this is what's going on. You 00:11:02.72\00:11:09.06 only find this story here in the gospel of John. Now, Moses said she should be s*****. But what 00:11:09.06\00:11:14.04 do you say? But Jesus stoop down and he wrote on the ground with his finger as though he 00:11:14.04\00:11:20.28 did not hear. You know, I don't think like very much when we accuse one another. 00:11:20.28\00:11:26.15 And here they were pointing fingers and Mary and though she was guilty. He wasn't 00:11:26.15\00:11:30.39 pleased to hear it. And then he writing, you have to ask yourself the question, what is 00:11:30.39\00:11:38.16 Jesus right now? Doesn't tell us, but we can make a pretty educated guess. The 3 times in 00:11:38.16\00:11:41.40 the Bible when got rights. Now both the 10 Commandments with his finger on Stone. judgment 00:11:41.40\00:11:51.64 on the walls of battle and handwriting on the wall. You for that story. And here Jesus 00:11:51.64\00:11:56.64 is now writing sins in the dust of the temple floor. In the Jewish temple. They had 00:11:56.64\00:12:01.75 white and black marble kind like a checkerboard, big squares and 00:12:01.75\00:12:06.79 on the Black Stones because of the dust in the traffic of the people. You can write very 00:12:06.79\00:12:09.39 clearly. So he's writing. And I think he's writing sins of his accused of her accusers. So he's 00:12:09.39\00:12:18.17 acting like he doesn't hear them, but they continue to press him. They're not paying 00:12:18.17\00:12:21.07 attention to what is right. And if it uses you know what, they're talking to him. And so 00:12:21.07\00:12:25.67 they pressed him when they continue to asking them. John Chapter 8 verse 7, he raised 00:12:25.67\00:12:31.68 himself up. He got to be careful. And Michael stands up. He raised himself up and said to 00:12:31.68\00:12:36.32 them he who is without Among you, let him throw a stone at her first. And then he stood 00:12:36.32\00:12:43.43 down again and road. And he starts to write their particular And while they're figuring out 00:12:43.43\00:12:53.03 how to respond to what he says, they look at what he's writing and he's writing very specific 00:12:53.03\00:12:57.87 things that only got to know about them. And as they hear his challenge and they read 00:12:57.87\00:13:05.65 their sins one by one, the rocks they had brought to throw it. 00:13:05.65\00:13:10.39 Mary fall. From there, paralyze hands. And they go out beginning at the Elders because they have 00:13:10.39\00:13:16.39 the longest record of Sen. Even unto the least. One by one. They went out. And Jesus was 00:13:16.39\00:13:24.67 left alone in the woman standing in the midst of this point, she 00:13:24.67\00:13:28.37 stood up. She was cast his feet before. When Jesus raised himself up. He saw no one with 00:13:28.37\00:13:34.98 the woman. He said her woman wear your accusers has no man condemned you. Now wasn't 00:13:34.98\00:13:40.42 because she wasn't guilty. She was guilty. But there was no man there to condemn her. She said 00:13:40.42\00:13:48.16 no one lord. He said neither do I condemn you. OK? A lot of people stop right there. And 00:13:48.16\00:13:57.83 people go will be Jesus. The adult OK. Nobody sent. He's a full as I did not come into 00:13:57.83\00:14:05.67 the world to condemn the world were already condemn. We have sent the penalty is a death. 00:14:05.67\00:14:14.12 The condemnations got sun's light into the world. The middle of darkness rather than 00:14:14.12\00:14:16.15 light. We are already under a death sentence. He didn't come to condemn. He says I've come 00:14:16.15\00:14:21.92 to seek and to save that, which was lost. So he said, I don't condemn you. I didn't 00:14:21.92\00:14:27.13 come for that reason. He said go, you're forgiven, you're free. And send no more. He 00:14:27.13\00:14:35.10 said what you have done, his ascent. How could Jesus say that? end of the law of Moses 00:14:35.10\00:14:42.14 matter then that still stands true. That adultery was yes, ID. And if everyone was to die 00:14:42.14\00:14:48.12 right now, who is guilty of Sen this room would be empty. Because the Bible says all 00:14:48.12\00:14:54.09 have sinned and anything in the penalty is death. Sometimes we, 00:14:54.09\00:15:01.43 you know, accentuate some sins above the others, but they all put Jesus on the cross. And so 00:15:01.43\00:15:05.37 he sent going send no more. I think that there was an unspoken communication, but she picked 00:15:05.37\00:15:13.64 up through the Holy Spirit that the reason that he could let her go free. It's because 00:15:13.64\00:15:18.18 he was going to take her penalty. And that's the only reason that you and I go free. 00:15:18.18\00:15:23.55 She ended up following him. The Bible tells us are several women 00:15:23.55\00:15:31.09 that follow Jesus administered of their substance later tells area. Bethany was a woman who 00:15:31.09\00:15:35.20 had a bad reputation of people said don't let her touch you for. She is a center. And I 00:15:35.20\00:15:39.63 think that John wanting to protect her identity because she was a prominent person in the 00:15:39.63\00:15:42.74 church, told the story the others left the story out. John told the story, but he 00:15:42.74\00:15:46.61 said I'm not going donate. And from that moment on, she began to follow Jesus. And she her 00:15:46.61\00:15:54.32 many times why she followed him to the apostles and probably said it half a dozen 00:15:54.32\00:15:57.72 times. I'm going to Jerusalem. I will be betrayed in the hands of 00:15:57.72\00:16:04.06 centers. I'll be crucified and all rise. A 3rd day. She understood that he was going to 00:16:04.06\00:16:08.23 die for her sense. I think she had an understanding the others did not have. So here we see 00:16:08.23\00:16:15.80 Mary in her first encounter with Jesus. She's in the temple. And she's and shamed. A lot of 00:16:15.80\00:16:21.71 people say Pastor Doug, if I went to the church, it would fall in. It sounds so simple. 00:16:21.71\00:16:28.35 Just like the temple of being on the sands and they're afraid of 00:16:28.35\00:16:30.62 coming into the temple. But, you know, the best place to go when you're in trouble is to the 00:16:30.62\00:16:36.26 presence of God. This is what Mary did and he forgave. Are there. So if you know anybody 00:16:36.26\00:16:40.80 that things aren't is not good enough to go to church, that is really silly. That's like 00:16:40.80\00:16:43.67 parents telling their children. Could you please clean up so you 00:16:43.67\00:16:46.60 can take a bath? You don't think that. So you can take about to take advanced. You can clean up 00:16:46.60\00:16:54.18 some people think I've got to straighten out my life so I can come to Jesus. We don't 00:16:54.18\00:16:59.28 straighten out your lysine come to Jesus. You come to You can straighten out. heard 00:16:59.28\00:17:04.49 about this one man that pastor kept inviting him to church. His family came as wife come. 00:17:04.49\00:17:06.79 He didn't come. The pastor and I get things straightened out come 00:17:06.79\00:17:10.86 when I get things straightened out all come. Finally came all straightened out in a coffin. 00:17:10.86\00:17:18.00 You don't want to wait that long. Friends. You want to come to Jesus. Don't be afraid to 00:17:18.00\00:17:23.51 come to that whole episode. You see Mary, she's in Sheen in the Temple. said, I don't go. I 00:17:23.51\00:17:30.05 have not come to condemn you, but to say now just want to make a point. You said Pastor 00:17:30.05\00:17:37.29 Doug, you area Bethany and Mary Magdalen are the same person I believe so. And it's 00:17:37.29\00:17:43.36 for biblical reasons. Let me give you a little list of white who is Mary Magdalen. 00:17:43.36\00:17:49.30 Well, first of all, it says both Mary of Bethany, Mary Magdalen. 00:17:49.30\00:17:53.00 It says there are women that have means they've got money. And you'll see that they buy an 00:17:53.00\00:17:58.97 expensive gift. Both, of course, have a name area. But that was not that uncommon. That sort of 00:17:58.97\00:18:01.61 the Greek name for marry him. A lot of Jews use that the both unmarried. The both always a 00:18:01.61\00:18:07.32 Jesus feet. They both evidently have bad reputations and then 00:18:07.32\00:18:13.76 most interesting Leigh, you never hear the mentioned in the same story, but they both seem 00:18:13.76\00:18:18.69 incredibly devoted because of the same person. Sometimes Jesus is called Jesus of Nazareth or 00:18:18.69\00:18:23.20 Jesus. The carpenters cent if they've got several named Simon told Simon Simon Peter. 00:18:23.20\00:18:29.67 And then Simon, the scent of Jonah. And so sometimes they use different names. But this 00:18:29.67\00:18:34.61 I think is the same. Mary. Now the next time we observe her and Jesus feet, you have to 00:18:34.61\00:18:40.18 turn in your Bible to the book of Luke Luke Chapter 10 verse 38. And this is I think one of 00:18:40.18\00:18:44.95 the most important things. First she has this encounter with the Lord in the House of 00:18:44.95\00:18:51.33 the Lord is transformed by this. So you read Inverse. 38. Luke. 00:18:51.33\00:19:01.97 Chapter 10? Now it happened that as they went, he entered a certain village and a certain 00:19:01.97\00:19:07.71 woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. She had a sister called Mary Notice. It's 00:19:07.71\00:19:12.51 Martha's House but memories there. She had a sister called Mary who also said a Jesus feet 00:19:12.51\00:19:17.82 and heard his word. But Martha was distracted with much serving and she finally approaches 00:19:17.82\00:19:24.29 Jesus wants it more. Do you not care that my sisters left me to serve You know, Jesus 00:19:24.29\00:19:30.77 often would go and stay at the house of Mary and Lazarus. That 00:19:30.77\00:19:35.50 was her brother in Bethany, not far from Mount of Olives in the Garden of Gethsemane. And when 00:19:35.50\00:19:39.67 Jesus showed up, he brought 12 friends with him. And then that the law for young. And 00:19:39.67\00:19:44.65 there's a lot of serving in cooking going on. This may have also been the same time 00:19:44.65\00:19:49.28 where it says there was a dinner in Bethany and Marys there as 00:19:49.28\00:19:54.79 well. So anyway, Martha's always serving. And I just I'm so thankful for the market is in 00:19:54.79\00:19:59.76 the church that are there. Good servants are busy. They are active, but there's a danger you 00:19:59.76\00:20:03.50 can get so busy doing the work of the Lord. You forget the Lord of the work. And we're not see 00:20:03.50\00:20:08.04 by our works. We're saved by a relationship with Jesus. You know, when the Lord comes. 00:20:08.04\00:20:16.44 Jesus is going to declare it a lot of people. I don't know. You. And they're going to put 00:20:16.44\00:20:23.95 We taught in your street, 3 cast out devils. We did many wonderful works. We cook from 00:20:23.95\00:20:29.12 potlucks. We were in with the deacons and those are all great 00:20:29.12\00:20:33.03 things. >> But he'll say, I don't know. You. How do you get to know somebody? You know, 00:20:33.03\00:20:39.27 first of all, very simple. Truth, if you forget everything else, I say tonight, please 00:20:39.27\00:20:43.64 remember this. You cannot be saved. If you don't know, begun. You can got a few less. You love 00:20:43.64\00:20:54.15 him. You not say by obeying him, but if you love and you will obey him. You cannot love God. 00:20:54.15\00:20:59.12 If you don't know him. You're not gonna love him and know him unless you communicate 00:20:59.12\00:21:04.96 with him. He speaks to you through his spirit. But principally through his word 00:21:04.96\00:21:12.30 sometimes even preachers, believe it or not, You speak to him when you pray. If 00:21:12.30\00:21:19.27 you're going to fall in love with someone you need to communicate. Some people are 00:21:19.27\00:21:23.01 wanting to fall in love with Jesus and not letting Jesus talk to him. doing all the 00:21:23.01\00:21:26.55 talking. know, anyone like that. So we're giving you this and give me that given keeping 00:21:26.55\00:21:31.65 out of trouble, saving from the savings from that. But they're 00:21:31.65\00:21:34.99 not listening. God speaks to us through his work. She sat at Jesus Feet. A posture of 00:21:34.99\00:21:40.86 submission, humility. And heard his word. And Martha said maker get up and help me work for you 00:21:40.86\00:21:51.57 and listen to what Jesus is Martha. Martha, you can tell he loved her. You don't insult 00:21:51.57\00:21:56.21 the person that your hopes, you know. You are worried and troubled about many things. 00:21:56.21\00:22:02.75 But one thing is needed. One thing is needed. And Mary has chosen that good part, which 00:22:02.75\00:22:09.79 will not be taken from her. I'm not going throw away. She's 00:22:09.79\00:22:13.83 sitting at my feet drinking in the word, you know, friends. This is one of the most 00:22:13.83\00:22:18.77 important things that happens when the word of God as open and got speaks to us. The Bible is 00:22:18.77\00:22:24.97 inspired. So we're title in the series. Inspirational would have inspired. It had been the 00:22:24.97\00:22:27.94 programs before in can't meetings where I'm sitting on the platform. I'm waiting 00:22:27.94\00:22:32.05 preach and there is a parade of announcements and programs and products and things that 00:22:32.05\00:22:37.52 go by. And everybody's looking at their watch and I can see they're getting hungry here. 00:22:37.52\00:22:41.46 Their stomachs ground or watches are going off. Finally tends to Now Pastor Doug, if 00:22:41.46\00:22:45.29 you could bring us the word. feel like the standing and doing the benediction and 00:22:45.29\00:22:51.30 thank them for coming. Because the well worn out now and we kind of get the word anyone 00:22:51.30\00:22:57.81 Can you say man, you know And sometimes I think I'm going to preach and you do all your 00:22:57.81\00:23:03.55 announcement for anyone that wants to stay here. need to that archers. wanted to hear 00:23:03.55\00:23:10.12 the word. We need a devotional life. And the morning is the best time got rain down bread 00:23:10.12\00:23:18.39 from heaven for the children of Israel. Every morning they had to go out and gather it 00:23:18.39\00:23:23.20 and needed and they couldn't work it it. But he provided it. But they had to fix it and 00:23:23.20\00:23:30.21 God has his word. The Bible says it's not very far from you. We need to reach out and 00:23:30.21\00:23:35.71 today you're without excuse because if you say I can't read what you can hear, you 00:23:35.71\00:23:39.51 can just have your phone read the Bible to now. You get a CD and listen in your car. We do 00:23:39.51\00:23:45.32 that. Also, good sermons. absolute read the Bible to you, but studying the word. 00:23:45.32\00:23:54.10 And God speaking with roots where the Bible changed my life. Atheist started reading 00:23:54.10\00:23:56.87 the Bible. And just transform my life to realize it was a and I read a lot of religious 00:23:56.87\00:24:03.61 books. There's nothing like the vinyl. Spent time with God in the morning. You've got a 00:24:03.61\00:24:10.11 physical body that has physical needs. You have a spiritual 00:24:10.11\00:24:15.88 Bonnie that his spiritual needs. I remember I living on the streets shortly after becoming a 00:24:15.88\00:24:25.19 Christian. I told you live in a cave and sometimes stayed the band and buildings and as in 00:24:25.19\00:24:29.40 Palm Springs and there was a dedicated Christian man there. We all called him brother hair 00:24:29.40\00:24:33.77 a lot, even only his brother, Harold, he was a Jewish convert to Christianity. And 00:24:33.77\00:24:39.47 the guy was such a committed Christian. He would wake up every morning like 3 or 4 and 00:24:39.47\00:24:43.31 start reading his Bible and he can read it in Greek. Hebrew and English. He didn't go to 00:24:43.31\00:24:48.52 the hospital and even quote, scripture from memory to the 00:24:48.52\00:24:52.45 people. He was a self-appointed chaplain. He go to the Palm Springs Hospital, visit the 00:24:52.45\00:24:55.06 rooms, encourage people, pray with them, quote, scripture to him. And I heard him, quote, 00:24:55.06\00:24:58.39 Scripture, his voice for Trimble. Just the fact that he could take the word of God on 00:24:58.39\00:25:02.70 his lips, moved him. I saw him train his face from light up. This man knew the Lord. So I'm 00:25:02.70\00:25:09.30 walking down the street one day. He knew me because I was around the streets and he care a lot 00:25:09.30\00:25:13.41 about all the young we call them. Jesus freaks. He's young teenagers that have come to 00:25:13.41\00:25:16.21 Christ and he saw me stopped me said, dad, how are you doing? I 00:25:16.21\00:25:21.62 was struggling a little bit trying to live right? He said that. How long can you hold your 00:25:21.62\00:25:29.22 breath? I didn't ISP that, but I'm glad because I was very proud of how long I can hold my 00:25:29.22\00:25:33.09 breath. Even when I was smoking, I could hold my breath for 4 minutes and 10 seconds. 00:25:33.09\00:25:37.30 Because I used to do free diving. I said 4 minutes and 10 seconds. expected him to be 00:25:37.30\00:25:43.14 impressed. He said you shouldn't go any longer than that without 00:25:43.14\00:25:49.64 rain. He said how often do you eat? The 2 or 3 times a day? So that's how often you should read 00:25:49.64\00:25:55.95 or meditate on God's word. So what can happen, Doug, if you don't get any exercise. So I 00:25:55.95\00:26:01.56 get weak and flabby. So that's what happens. Your faith if you don't use it and you don't 00:26:01.56\00:26:07.30 share it. So you've got a physical body with physical needs and there are laws that 00:26:07.30\00:26:12.00 you cannot deny and you will suffer if you ignore those laws. You have a spiritual 00:26:12.00\00:26:16.67 body. It is real and you have spiritual needs and you will suffer if you do not obey 00:26:16.67\00:26:21.38 those laws. You need to read the word of God. That is the bread of life. You need to 00:26:21.38\00:26:23.91 pray. That is the altar of incense. That is the breath. And you need to exercise your 00:26:23.91\00:26:33.36 faith in the holy place of the Jewish temple. There were 3 things. There's a candlestick. 00:26:33.36\00:26:39.09 You've got to let your light shine exercise your faith. It was an altar of incense. 00:26:39.09\00:26:43.97 That's prayer and there's a table with bread on it. That's the word of God. These are the 00:26:43.97\00:26:49.07 3 disciplines in the Christian life. You do those things and you will live. You will grow 00:26:49.07\00:26:53.68 babies. Don't worry about growing. Do they? A breezy? I don't breathe. You have a very 00:26:53.68\00:26:58.28 sad occurrence. They eat. They wiggle. If you're doing those things, you will grow in your 00:26:58.28\00:27:08.16 fate. Show me a backflip Christian. I'll show you someone who is neglecting one 00:27:08.16\00:27:13.53 of those 3 things. Mary Jesus Feet and she heard the word. We see her not only at his 00:27:13.53\00:27:18.10 feet in shame. We here at his feet in study after you come to the Lord, you need to study 00:27:18.10\00:27:25.87 then we see your next. She's actually says feet. Now she's in sorrow because after she 00:27:25.87\00:27:30.95 has been fed and after she's been say she's not worried 00:27:30.95\00:27:34.12 about. >> Brother turned with me to the Gospel of John Chapter 11. Now. And I think just about 00:27:34.12\00:27:40.79 everyone here knows the story of one Jesus, greatest miracles. It 00:27:40.79\00:27:45.26 is the resurrection. One is arrests. And tells us Jesus had a friend in Laos was sick. He 00:27:45.26\00:27:53.50 was the brother of Mary and Martha. They sent a message to Jesus from Bethany, weigh up 00:27:53.50\00:27:58.44 to the Sea of Galilee Capernaum and said your friend that you 00:27:58.44\00:28:06.08 love is sick. What use is a healing. Everybody right left. He's going through towns where 00:28:06.08\00:28:09.68 everybody's been healed. The thought Jesus is going to drop everything and come down and but 00:28:09.68\00:28:13.79 he doesn't. He literally weights. Because sometimes God allows us to experience a real 00:28:13.79\00:28:22.86 hard time in order to strengthen our faith. So finally, dies. And Martha and Mary are just so 00:28:22.86\00:28:31.74 devastated. Not only about the death, but that Jesus didn't come. And it says that 00:28:31.74\00:28:37.51 finally, he comes down 4 days after last year's is dead and buried. And it says that when 00:28:37.51\00:28:42.52 Mary heard that he had come. Martha found Florida. If you've been here, my you could 00:28:42.52\00:28:47.89 hear my brother. He said your brother will live again. She said I know he's going to be 00:28:47.89\00:28:53.83 raised the last day. By the way, Lazarus was asleep. That's how the Bible refers to 00:28:53.83\00:28:56.40 death. terrible if are going right to him and he's brought him back to the grave. You 00:28:56.40\00:29:02.80 want to do that, your friend, would said he was asleep in the grave. And that I know you 00:29:02.80\00:29:09.38 rise in the resurrection of the last day. And he said I am the resurrection and the life. 00:29:09.38\00:29:15.15 This is John 11. 25 he believes in me, though, he may die yet. 00:29:15.15\00:29:21.56 He will live in whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this? That's 00:29:21.56\00:29:26.03 still true today. Friends. If you believe in Jesus will never die. She said yes, Florida. I 00:29:26.03\00:29:30.27 believe you're the Christ, the son of God, who is to come into the world. Mary hears the 00:29:30.27\00:29:36.97 Jesus has come a messenger goes to the funeral and tells her she runs out to see Jesus 00:29:36.97\00:29:42.58 and you go to verse. 32, then Mary came to where Jesus was. She saw him. She fell down at 00:29:42.58\00:29:49.55 his feet. Interesting. She's always there. Saying Lord, if you have been here, my brother 00:29:49.55\00:29:55.02 would not have 9. Therefore, when Jesus saw her weeping, there she is again, weeping at 00:29:55.02\00:30:00.00 his feet. You know, sometimes. We must be broken, broken things. Bring 4th wife. It's 00:30:00.00\00:30:11.41 broken drain. The gives as Britain's broken clouds to give 00:30:11.41\00:30:15.28 us rain and it's. Sometimes it's a broken alabaster, vile that brings forth the sweet perfume. 00:30:15.28\00:30:18.88 We're getting to that just a minute. And it's a broken hearts and broken tears. bring a new 00:30:18.88\00:30:26.09 life sometimes before a new birth his peers. And Mary's weeping. For her brother. It's 00:30:26.09\00:30:34.10 Now we discovered in a previous study that there's a lot of people that are dead in 00:30:34.10\00:30:38.50 trespasses and sins. And the Bible tells us that that that is a symbol for death when a person 00:30:38.50\00:30:45.47 is lost, it represents death. And so here she is weeping at his feet. You and I have 00:30:45.47\00:30:54.05 brothers and sisters help in the world. We've got children's and friends that are dead. What is 00:30:54.05\00:30:57.92 Mary doing with Jesus for those that she loves? He's praying that his feet. He's a 00:30:57.92\00:31:02.82 weeping and pleading for her brother. That is dead. The Jesus 00:31:02.82\00:31:07.96 would do something miraculous and bring him back to life. And does he do it? Jesus leads them 00:31:07.96\00:31:17.61 to the place where is dead. He tells Martha Roll away the Stone She's very practical. She's a 00:31:17.61\00:31:23.24 servant and he says he realized where he's been dead for 4 days and it's not going to smell very 00:31:23.24\00:31:26.65 good. He's the did. I tell you to trust me. So roll away the stone. And Jesus spoke those 00:31:26.65\00:31:31.79 words and he said Lazarus come forth. DeJesus had not specified. Lazarus come forth. 00:31:31.79\00:31:38.46 Every grave in the world would have opened up. If you just said come forth. This allows 00:31:38.46\00:31:42.36 come forth. And they heard a stirring inside. And then out from the darkened whole. All 00:31:42.36\00:31:49.87 of from this money begin to hobble says he was all wrapped up. And Jesus said loose him 00:31:49.87\00:31:59.31 sometimes after raise. We still need to be loosed. And there was just pandemonium of 00:31:59.31\00:32:06.99 rejoicing through their prayers to Jesus for their dead loved ones. There was new 00:32:06.99\00:32:10.33 life. Some of you have been praying for people and you think 00:32:10.33\00:32:16.43 the situation is hopeless. You don't get more hopeless than someone being dead for 4 days. 00:32:16.43\00:32:21.57 Their life may stink. Like a corpse, but Jesus can cause a resurrection. Now, what does a 00:32:21.57\00:32:29.28 woman represents in Bible analogies? Who knows? Very calm. And this is like Bible 00:32:29.28\00:32:35.12 study one-on-one Bible says husbands love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and 00:32:35.12\00:32:39.25 gave himself or hurt. In the same way the church is to be preen for Christ or for those 00:32:39.25\00:32:46.59 who are dead in Sen. This is one of the most important missions. 00:32:46.59\00:32:51.77 God brings us to him. Then we go for him. Once we received, we have new life. Then we've got a 00:32:51.77\00:32:57.57 burden to sure that new life with others. So we see her at Jesus feed pleading for life. 00:32:57.57\00:33:03.85 For others. So she's at his feet in sorrow. Then you see this incredible story and you find 00:33:03.85\00:33:12.65 this in this story actually in John 12, Mark 14, Luke Chapter 7. It's called the Feast at 00:33:12.65\00:33:20.46 Simon's House. And we're going to read it to you from the Gospel of Luke Chapter. 36. So 00:33:20.46\00:33:24.47 there's a man. His name is Simon, another passage, one of the scriptures called him 00:33:24.47\00:33:28.10 Simon, the l****. Now Jesus would not go to the house of someone that had full stage 00:33:28.10\00:33:33.94 case of leprosy. The reason he's called Simon the l**** because he had been a l**** 00:33:33.94\00:33:38.51 and he says he'll him. He's a pharisee who has been healed by Christ. The thing Jesus, 00:33:38.51\00:33:45.15 when Jesus comes, the Bethany is a wealthy man. He has a feast in Jesus honor and Jesus 00:33:45.15\00:33:51.69 comes in. There's a lot of guests there. The apostles were all there. In this story. 00:33:51.69\00:33:55.93 Mary also shows up. What I see Oh, there we go. Thank you very much. One of the fair 00:33:55.93\00:34:06.64 says ask him to eat with him and he went to the Pharisees house and sat down to eat. And 00:34:06.64\00:34:14.12 they hold a woman in the city who is a center and what calling woman and the center. 00:34:14.12\00:34:18.92 But if you look at the other gospels, which is Mary. That tells us who was. A woman in 00:34:18.92\00:34:26.09 the city who was a center when she knew Jesus at a table in the fares and House brought an 00:34:26.09\00:34:31.03 alabaster flask. It's very precious Stone flask, a fragrant oil, the oil they use 00:34:31.03\00:34:36.14 for 19 kings and priests and sacrifice. And she said it is feet behind him. Weeping as 00:34:36.14\00:34:44.01 you begin to wash his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and 00:34:44.01\00:34:48.42 she kissed his feet. An anointed them was pregnant oil. And you 00:34:48.42\00:34:54.42 read the other gospels issue, not only anointed his feet, but then she stood up and reported 00:34:54.42\00:34:56.66 on his head and anointed his head. You know, Jesus was being anointed. The people who 00:34:56.66\00:35:03.03 got anointed in the Bible was Kings. Priests and a sacrifice. 00:35:03.03\00:35:11.04 Jesus is our King. Jesus is our priest, he I sacrifice Marriott his feet. He's where the church 00:35:11.04\00:35:16.04 needs to be in worshiping God. And she made this incredible sacrifice. Judas when ISIS is 00:35:16.04\00:35:21.92 going on these kind of annoyed. Because he's thinking. This is 00:35:21.92\00:35:28.09 such an expensive gift. You read the Gospel says this could have been sold for 300 an area and 00:35:28.09\00:35:31.19 giving to the poor. You can say this because he cared for the poor. He said because he 00:35:31.19\00:35:35.40 was a thief and he wanted to have a cut of interesting here you've got to do criticizing 00:35:35.40\00:35:41.57 Mary's Act of sacrifice. Interactive worship. She's willing to kiss to his feet 00:35:41.57\00:35:49.64 and sacrificing give to Jesus and worship him and serve him. Judah still from Jesus and he 00:35:49.64\00:35:53.15 kissed his face and betrayed him. 2 people in the Bible are recorded discussing Jesus. And 00:35:53.15\00:35:59.69 Mary. Huge is one of the highest position. He just does face and 00:35:59.69\00:36:08.20 then betrayed him. Sold him for money, Mary Custis feet and then gave. 2 attitudes. Both claim to 00:36:08.20\00:36:14.10 be religious. Very interesting. And Simon is watching this and everybody when she breaks is 00:36:14.10\00:36:22.44 vessel may smell this fragrant oil that's made for kings. Fills the room. She's not 00:36:22.44\00:36:29.35 wanting to be a spectacle, but she wanted to do something for Jesus because she knew Jesus 00:36:29.35\00:36:32.62 said I'm going to Jerusalem and I'm going to die. He said it several times with the 00:36:32.62\00:36:37.83 cycle, thought there were some spiritual meaning they didn't understand. Jesus is crossing 00:36:37.83\00:36:40.90 the sea. And you should be aware of the leaven of the pharisees 00:36:40.90\00:36:47.64 and the disciples are going because we forgot our brand, which got Arlen. She said no. 00:36:47.64\00:36:52.67 speaking in spiritual terms, it's not lunch. I just had 5,000 people and to be aware of the 00:36:52.67\00:36:55.81 doctrine of the pharisees. So now in Jesus, I'm going to Jerusalem and I'm going to be 00:36:55.81\00:37:00.98 betrayed. I'm going to die. Analyze the 3rd day and wondering what the spiritual 00:37:00.98\00:37:05.39 meaning of that going on. It's not spiritual its literal. But Mary got it. You know, most 00:37:05.39\00:37:10.96 people give a gift after they're She said, I want to give way life. A lot of people 00:37:10.96\00:37:17.50 are going to want to donate to the church. Right when they see Jesus coming in the 00:37:17.50\00:37:21.14 clouds. To be a little late. And it's like that sign in front of 00:37:21.14\00:37:27.38 the Baptist Church repent now and avoid the rush. Everybody can wait until it's too late. 00:37:27.38\00:37:35.48 And the way things are going in the world right now. And one of the best investment you can make 00:37:35.48\00:37:40.16 in spreading the gospel. No, it was not sorry about the investment he made in the arc 00:37:40.16\00:37:46.49 when it rose up on the waves. He floated a lot of stock. You might say. In that and have no 00:37:46.49\00:37:56.17 regrets because his family was on the boat. Can you Hunt? So Simon sees this. He's the host 00:37:56.17\00:38:01.61 of the dinner. And he's seen in himself. If Jesus was a prophet. He knows who and what 00:38:01.61\00:38:09.92 manner of woman. This is his touching him. She's the center. 00:38:09.92\00:38:13.76 Everybody in town knows about Mary. He's got that. That cottage business up and mangled. 00:38:13.76\00:38:21.63 And she says nobody was thinking another sign that he's got. He sits. I mean, I've got something 00:38:21.63\00:38:25.40 to say to you. Master say on. There was a certain creditor that had to debtors and one. 00:38:25.40\00:38:31.64 0, 500 in the area and the other 50. Just call it dollars. $500.50, $1. And when 00:38:31.64\00:38:38.78 they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them. Both. Tell me which of the 2 00:38:38.78\00:38:43.08 do you think will love him more? Simon settle? I suppose the one who was forgiven more. 00:38:43.08\00:38:50.19 Jesus said you've rightly judge. He turned to the woman. It's it's I you see this one. 00:38:50.19\00:38:56.87 I entered your house. You gave me no water for my feet and it was customary back then she's 00:38:56.87\00:39:00.40 watched my feet with her tears and wipe them with the here for him. What does it mean? 00:39:00.40\00:39:05.91 Tears on the feet of Here's are some sorrow. Biden says he was a 00:39:05.91\00:39:13.38 man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He bore our sorrows in our grief. On the feet means 00:39:13.38\00:39:20.06 you walk through them. He experienced them. Because you didn't wash my feet. He's wash 00:39:20.06\00:39:24.96 my feet with her tears and wiped them when they hear head. Bible tells us the New Testament, a 00:39:24.96\00:39:28.10 woman's tears or glory. He humbled or glory before the Lord of the lorry. He said you 00:39:28.10\00:39:35.17 didn't greet me with a kiss. Not on may seem weird to us, but you need read in the Bible 00:39:35.17\00:39:40.91 to greet the brother with a Holy Kiss. I went to a particular denominational, not 00:39:40.91\00:39:47.12 name one time. First time I visited there. And when I came in, all the greeted each 00:39:47.12\00:39:52.42 other, the kiss each other on the lips. And this is not in San Francisco. This is in New 00:39:52.42\00:39:58.06 Mexico. I'm not even going apologize for that. But anyway. I said, what's that? 00:39:58.06\00:40:11.14 don't worry. We just that with each other because the Bible says greet the brother with a 00:40:11.14\00:40:14.01 Holy Kiss. say yeah, but you go to the Middle East. It's kind of like Russia to kiss 00:40:14.01\00:40:17.01 you on the cheek, you know, and because your that says, we're minutes from anyway, I 00:40:17.01\00:40:22.25 don't want to take it too far. But he said you didn't agree with the case. It was common 00:40:22.25\00:40:27.82 to embrace and a kiss. Your guest so that you can see my feet. And it said her son's, 00:40:27.82\00:40:33.40 which are many are forgiven for. She loves much for too much. As for given the same, 00:40:33.40\00:40:40.90 loves much. And he turned the woman. He said not your sins are forgiven that she had 00:40:40.90\00:40:47.41 heard that before. I do not condemn you. That use the same. That we need to be big 00:40:47.41\00:40:56.48 centers in order to really love him. He was forgiven much love as much. Preach a sermon 00:40:56.48\00:41:02.62 once years ago in a lady came to me. She said I grew up in the church and I've never done 00:41:02.62\00:41:06.59 anything really scandals. And I just feel like I just don't love Jesus like you and some 00:41:06.59\00:41:10.20 of these other people. You sure these wild testimonies and got saves you. And I think 00:41:10.20\00:41:15.17 I got to go out there in the world and do some terrible probable debauchery things and 00:41:15.17\00:41:18.84 come back to the lower done and then really love the heaven forbid, she said that 00:41:18.84\00:41:26.55 it says he was forgiven much love as much tonight. Not done. 00:41:26.55\00:41:30.69 I saw >> I said Jesus was not saying you got to go commit a lot of scenes and then he said 00:41:30.69\00:41:35.19 you got to know how big your sins are that you've already committed. He who has a 00:41:35.19\00:41:40.00 concept of how much they've been forgiven. Love this much. You already a big center 00:41:40.00\00:41:46.70 friends. Congratulations. You qualify. The Bible says that every sin is deadly. went to 00:41:46.70\00:41:55.11 the cross for little sense. He went to the cross for our gossip in our indiscretions 00:41:55.11\00:41:59.65 and our pride. don't think you've got to go do something scandalous. The ones that Ward 00:41:59.65\00:42:07.16 had the hardest time reaching with a pro-death fair season. The scribes and the priests. 00:42:07.16\00:42:14.63 He didn't have it from reaching the the public annes Survival sense. So there she 00:42:14.63\00:42:19.30 is at his feet making this generous sacrifice. Then you go to the next point. In 00:42:19.30\00:42:25.57 surrender at the cross. I hearing the story about. During World War. One. They 00:42:25.57\00:42:36.12 often in these foxholes in the fighting was brutal and France an American Jeremy, bombing, 00:42:36.12\00:42:41.22 other This soldier. I was in a foxhole and the chaplain came to the front lines and he 00:42:41.22\00:42:49.60 jumped into the foxhole and missiles and grenades are flying around and the soldier 00:42:49.60\00:42:54.94 reached into his shirt. He pulled out the cross. He had been wearing. He's a chaplain. 00:42:54.94\00:42:58.01 How do you make this thing? Work? You'd be surprised how many people out there don't 00:42:58.01\00:43:04.11 understand how to make it work. How do you get the cross? The 00:43:04.11\00:43:09.68 work? You can read about this year. It says in the Gospel of John. When you read chapter, 23 00:43:09.68\00:43:17.46 actually going Luke. 23. As all of his acquaintances and the women who followed him from 00:43:17.46\00:43:24.77 Galilee stood at a distance when Jesus on the cross, the standard, the distance, the 00:43:24.77\00:43:28.57 disciples for so come in Flint. But look at John 19 verse. 25. Now they're stood by the cross 00:43:28.57\00:43:36.28 of Jesus. His mother and his mother, sister, the wife of Cleopas and Mary Magdalen. 00:43:36.28\00:43:43.15 Mister Biden Cross. Mary Mag. everybody forsake him. She was not a shame she left. She 00:43:43.15\00:43:51.23 said. He stood by me when I was guilty. I'm going to stand by him when he's being falsely 00:43:51.23\00:43:58.07 accused. You can tell who your real friends are when everybody 00:43:58.07\00:44:03.51 go else goes out. Your real friends come in. She found Jesus on the cross and she knew he was 00:44:03.51\00:44:14.85 there for her. Even Peter Criss said Allman Forsake thee. I will not for safety. He denied the 00:44:14.85\00:44:18.22 Lord and he fled with everyone else. And then finally, they Howard back. The only people who 00:44:18.22\00:44:24.36 stood up for Jesus when he hung on the cross. Was married at the foot of cross. His own 00:44:24.36\00:44:30.07 mother who is with the Apostle John. They came later. And the thief on the cross who called 00:44:30.07\00:44:36.34 in the Lord and King. And Mary was there at his feet. As he's bleeding on the cross where 00:44:36.34\00:44:45.91 she knew she belonged for her sins. The friends. This is another one of those points 00:44:45.91\00:44:51.45 that I just hope you won't miss. If we could go back 2000 years. Some of us which get 00:44:51.45\00:45:01.06 just enough religion. We hear it as we grow up. It's almost like 00:45:01.06\00:45:04.67 you get enough to inoculate you against ever, really catching the real thing. Kind of like 00:45:04.67\00:45:07.87 human vaccine against. The real gospel. And we need to all get an industrial dose. Of what it 00:45:07.87\00:45:16.18 means. To be at the foot of the cross to know what Jesus suffered for us. He 00:45:16.18\00:45:23.35 experienced the most crew torture that had been devised by man back then the most 00:45:23.35\00:45:29.39 humiliating torture. And he suffered not just the physical pain, but all the guilt and 00:45:29.39\00:45:37.13 shame of the whole world. You think how can a person handle that? He was not just the man. 00:45:37.13\00:45:40.04 He was 100% got to. And he bore the creator bore the sins of his whole creation. And he 00:45:40.04\00:45:47.14 did it as though you're the only one who never sent. If you were the only one who ever 00:45:47.14\00:45:50.38 said he would have done it for you because he loves you. And Mary saw that she somehow 00:45:50.38\00:45:57.09 understood he's hanging in there for me. And so she had the devotion. She would stand 00:45:57.09\00:46:03.79 by him. The Bible says that if you're a Christian, you may be prosecuted. You may be month. 00:46:03.79\00:46:09.50 You know, the day's going to come when it's not popular to follow Jesus. I think today's 00:46:09.50\00:46:12.63 already here. And cry said if you are ashamed of me and this even when the generation all 00:46:12.63\00:46:19.37 be ashamed of you. But whoever confesses me in this evil, an adulterous generation, I will 00:46:19.37\00:46:25.98 confess his name before my father in the Angels in heaven. Do not be ashamed of 00:46:25.98\00:46:31.05 Jesus. People in the world in the most bizarre things because they're not ashamed of 00:46:31.05\00:46:34.02 the devil. They sir. Why are we ashamed of the Lord? She was willing to stand by the 00:46:34.02\00:46:38.86 cross. And we all need to be willing to stand up for Jesus. There she was. You know, 00:46:38.86\00:46:46.67 there's a wonderful quote from a classic book called The Desire of ages. It says unpaid 00:46:46.67\00:46:52.67 83, that book it would be well for us to spend a fun flower. Each state contemplating the 00:46:52.67\00:46:56.58 life of Christ. We should take it point by point let the imagination grass each scene, 00:46:56.58\00:47:02.58 especially the closing ones as the we that's dwell upon the great sacrifice for us. Our 00:47:02.58\00:47:08.59 confidence in him will be more constant. Our love will be quick and we'll be more deeply 00:47:08.59\00:47:12.73 imbued with the spirit. If we would be saved. At last, we must learn the lesson, the 00:47:12.73\00:47:18.07 penance and humiliation at the foot of the cross. You know that song. We saying Jesus 00:47:18.07\00:47:24.94 Keep me near the cross at the cross at the cross where I first saw the light. There's 00:47:24.94\00:47:28.78 so many songs about the cross. Paul said, I'm determined to know nothing among you accept 00:47:28.78\00:47:32.11 Jesus Christ and him crucified. And you think why would these 00:47:32.11\00:47:37.85 Christians worship and implement departure? It's not the cross that what happened there that 00:47:37.85\00:47:41.19 demonstrates God's love for us and the Devils brutality. It shows you it is basically the 00:47:41.19\00:47:49.73 the AKC says it is the ground 0 of the cosmic conflict between 00:47:49.73\00:47:54.20 good and evil took place in the cross there. You've got the devils level power in Jesus. 00:47:54.20\00:48:00.94 Power of love is demonstrated. The mob is saying crucify him, crucify him and uses the same 00:48:00.94\00:48:03.68 father. Forgive them. What a contrast. France. She saw that all play out there. She saw his 00:48:03.68\00:48:12.85 love. And his spots, even for his mother, EU clears last will for his mother as he's hanging 00:48:12.85\00:48:18.23 on the cross, worried about her. Next. You see here in service after 2. You know, the 00:48:18.23\00:48:25.70 Bible tells us you remark 15. That when Jesus died on the cross. That this in gave the 00:48:25.70\00:48:33.41 body to Joseph of their muffy, wealthy man who said I'm going to give him my my my grave. It 00:48:33.41\00:48:37.91 was a rich man's gray prophecy said that he would be buried with the rich. He die among 00:48:37.91\00:48:45.22 the wicked these crucified between fees and buried in a rich man's too. And it says 00:48:45.22\00:48:49.99 they took him down and they wrapped him in the win. And they lead in the sept liquor, 00:48:49.99\00:48:55.96 which was hewn out of rock. And it tells us that you look, Mary Magdalen and Mary, the 00:48:55.96\00:49:03.37 mother of Joses be held where he was late. The women there were overseen this process. 00:49:03.37\00:49:10.48 The wrapping the body of Jesus. They needed to go home and get 00:49:10.48\00:49:16.75 ointment. But the Sabbath was approaching and they talked. Jesus won't want us to do this 00:49:16.75\00:49:19.49 on the side of. We'll come back Sunday morning after the Sabbath was passed. You realize that it 00:49:19.49\00:49:23.96 was still important to Jesus at that point. I can't help but wonder when it came time to 00:49:23.96\00:49:30.37 anoint. The body after the and wrapped in gauze Mary probably was going to want to wrap his 00:49:30.37\00:49:34.00 feet. You're even Lou. 23 versus 55 in the women. Also that came 00:49:34.00\00:49:42.58 with him from Galilee, followed after and behold the CEP liquor and how his body was laid. Lou. 00:49:42.58\00:49:49.55 22 27, who is greater. He sits at the table or he who serves yet. I'm among you as one who 00:49:49.55\00:49:56.42 serves. She was willing to serve. She helped oversee his body and and caring for him 00:49:56.42\00:50:04.23 and the anointing him and involving him. Now the church. bride of Christ needs to be 00:50:04.23\00:50:11.31 involved in service. Jesus said I'm your example and service. And then finally. We 00:50:11.31\00:50:17.11 see here it ends on a positive note. She is in song at the Resurrection. This is a 00:50:17.11\00:50:23.32 wonderful story turned to me to the Gospel of John Chapter 19. Well, chapter 20, I guess 00:50:23.32\00:50:27.59 at this point. Go to the Gospel of John Chapter 20 and got all 00:50:27.59\00:50:33.46 these flags in my Bible to help me find this quickly. Nothing is more boring than watching a 00:50:33.46\00:50:37.70 pastor on key turning is violent. When you read the different gospels and you put 00:50:37.70\00:50:44.57 the story together. Mary is the first one there. She gets early in the morning, but she sees no 00:50:44.57\00:50:51.91 one else is there in the stones in the way. So she starts to 00:50:51.91\00:50:55.18 make your way back up towards the city and she encounters the other women. She says how we 00:50:55.18\00:50:59.45 roll away the stone. They say we don't know, will go. Maybe some men will come and shop so they 00:50:59.45\00:51:03.86 go back. They see the stole is rolled away. Now. This to angel sitting inside. And all the 00:51:03.86\00:51:09.10 women leave. And then Peter and John Cho of except Mary states. 00:51:09.10\00:51:16.60 Peter, John, look inside. They heard from either one of the tomb was empty. The Roman 00:51:16.60\00:51:23.58 soldiers have been scared off by his angel that the Tomb of the Unknown. And Peter and John are 00:51:23.58\00:51:27.95 so excited. They leave. But the one who stays is Mary. And she's standing at the tomb and 00:51:27.95\00:51:38.13 people have been coming and going. The tomb is empty. And this is such a beautiful 00:51:38.13\00:51:40.76 story. You're looking for Sullivan, John, Chapter 20 verse 11. Mary stood outside 00:51:40.76\00:51:47.87 by the weeping. And she wept, she stooped down. And once again she looks in the tomb 00:51:47.87\00:51:55.41 and she saw 2 angels and white sitting one of the head and the other at the feet with the 00:51:55.41\00:51:59.01 body of Jesus said Lane. And they said her one. Why are you She said to them because 00:51:59.01\00:52:06.72 they've taken away. She doesn't say the Lord. They've taken with my Lord. And I know 00:52:06.72\00:52:11.39 not where they have lead him. Is he the Lord for you? Is he my Lord? Is your personal Lord 00:52:11.39\00:52:18.40 and savior. Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus and didn't know 00:52:18.40\00:52:26.34 was happens other times after the resurrection. Her eyes are probably already from weeping 00:52:26.34\00:52:31.05 through the weekend. And woman. Were you weeping? And the word 00:52:31.05\00:52:38.89 woman there? You know, one of my happy days, we used to call some hay woman. It was like 00:52:38.89\00:52:42.59 derogatory. But, you know, in Bible times the word he translates Madam, it's a term of 00:52:42.59\00:52:48.40 respect and on or so. I of all, do is be very nice to his mother's, a woman. But and Madam 00:52:48.40\00:52:55.67 UK. Said one, why are you weeping? Who are you seeking? She supposing him to be the 00:52:55.67\00:53:02.31 gardener. She was actually right. He was a gardener. The Lord planted a garden eastward 00:53:02.31\00:53:10.02 in need. Jesus wept in the garden of thsemane and said not my will. I will be done and 00:53:10.02\00:53:13.99 where he was crucified. There was a garden. And the Bible says into revelation. He's going to 00:53:13.99\00:53:18.93 bring us back to the garden and we need to gain from the Tree of 00:53:18.93\00:53:22.00 life. Jesus is a gardener. And he wants you to bring forth fruit. If you carry them away. 00:53:22.00\00:53:31.37 Tell me where you've laid him and I will take him away. That always is that amazes me. 00:53:31.37\00:53:39.78 Because, you know, I annoyed by these medieval paintings of Jesus fin and the indirect sic. 00:53:39.78\00:53:45.82 And Jesus was a carpenter. They did not have power tools back and he was a man's man. He 00:53:45.82\00:53:50.73 disappeared in. The crowd fisherman. They didn't know what you want. He wants. And 00:53:50.73\00:53:55.16 here you got Jesus. You know, you use the 6 foot man. And you've got the slight woman. 00:53:55.16\00:53:59.80 And she says I will carry him away. She thought maybe the Jews were afraid that the tomb 00:53:59.80\00:54:06.71 was going to be worshipping the evicted, the body. After all, it 00:54:06.71\00:54:09.28 was someone else's tomb. She doesn't know. She says. Where is he? I will carry me when I just 00:54:09.28\00:54:14.95 in my mind the picture Mary was willing to try to pick up the body of Jesus and carry it. 00:54:14.95\00:54:19.02 She had that kind of dedication. And then Jesus says to her. He 00:54:19.02\00:54:25.19 knows your name friends. He's calling your name. She heard that voice before the bottles of 00:54:25.19\00:54:31.50 Mary Magdalene out of whom Jesus Cass 7 devils. So that over and over and the violent 00:54:31.50\00:54:38.27 Mary Magdalene out Jesus cast 7 devils. And that doesn't mean at 00:54:38.27\00:54:41.08 one time like the money actually cast out 7 the way it treated in the Bible is 7 different times. 00:54:41.08\00:54:47.78 She had fallen back and he saved her again forgave her again and Seager again. The bottles is a 00:54:47.78\00:54:51.85 righteous man fall 7 times and rises again. And you can read in the book of Joe. He will 00:54:51.85\00:54:59.73 deliver you in 6 troubles. Yes, in 7, evil will not touch you. There she is. Faithfully 00:54:59.73\00:55:04.93 standing outside of the 2. Worshiping. The Lord. Now, if I was in charge of things. I 00:55:04.93\00:55:12.87 would have organized the resurrection differently. If I was Jesus. When I rose from 00:55:12.87\00:55:18.51 the dead, first thing I do is I'd walk off to the high priest and say here I am. Now 00:55:18.51\00:55:21.68 the thing. Why would a stormed in on pilot? It's a surprise. ¤ 00:55:21.68\00:55:33.46 But this something very unusual? You think that, you know, he would first revealed 00:55:33.46\00:55:39.40 himself to his mother for Peter. James or John, one of the apostles. But he waits 00:55:39.40\00:55:44.41 until they all home and they go. And he deliberately weights. To 00:55:44.41\00:55:52.91 reveal himself to the least of the lease. That woman they said, don't let her touch you. She's 00:55:52.91\00:55:58.19 the center.
