why is there good and evil in
the world? The battle between

we're going to look at it.

begin by just I kind of giving

to give you the background
before we dive in. You probably
hear the experience where Jesus

was in the middle of the Sea of
Galilee with his disciples in
the boat. And a terrible storm
00:09:40.41\00:09:45.38
rose from nowhere. Frankly, I
think the devil was trying to
destroy Jesus when he was
00:09:45.38\00:09:50.09
vulnerable. And these 12 that
are in the boat with Christ. Our
concern that the boat is
00:09:50.09\00:09:57.89
going to go down the very
afraid. And some think is most
of them are fisherman and they
00:09:57.89\00:10:03.57
spent their whole lives by the
Sea of Galilee. And they've
never seen a storm this
00:10:03.57\00:10:07.00
vicious before. And as they're
bailing the boat into the wind
is howling and the lightning

was flashing. All of us. And
they realize in one of the
flashes of lightning, he says

in the boat. They'd seen him do
many miracles and help them out
of many dire straits and

he's asleep. In the store. First
of all, what do you like to have
that kind of peace?

They we came up and they asked
the strangest question the They
said Master, do you not

care that we are perishing?
Jesus? So loved the world who
came that we might not parish

but have everlasting life. And
he woke up and he surveyed the

picture him standing there and
he looks at the wind and the

the water sloshing around in the
bottom of the boat in the

face of the apostles. And he
says one word now in your

bibles. You'll read it in Greek,
but Jesus spoke, Aaron May. And
he said shovel. And

without one word. All of a
sudden the win. It's like it hit
a wall. Its top. The waves

flattened out. The clouds
parted and the moon was shining
00:11:21.81\00:11:28.65
through. The water became
glassy. And it was absolute
peace. One word from Jesus can
00:11:28.65\00:11:37.83
do that. It was the word of the
Lord that brought the entire
universe into existence. There's

power in the word of God. It is
inspired. But now when this
happened, you think that the
00:11:40.70\00:11:47.00
fibers was a hot, that's much
better. Thank you, Lord. Now the
Bible tells us when the
00:11:47.00\00:11:51.27
disciple saw Jesus do that, they
were exceedingly afraid, meaning
they are more afraid

now than they were during the
storm. Because they're wondering
00:11:58.71\00:12:03.85
what manner of man is this, that
even the wind and the waves obey
him. So they're very 3rd, the
00:12:03.85\00:12:08.56
rattled and their freight. This
is where we pick up our story
and I'm going to begin by

reading in Luke Chapter 8,
starting with verse. 26, if you
have your bibles and for those

at home. That they sailed to the
country of the gatherings that
is opposite Galilee. On the
00:12:16.93\00:12:24.74
opposite side from where
Capernaum was What you call that
kind of South East side
00:12:24.74\00:12:29.11
of Galilee. And when he stepped
out on the land, the met him a
certain man from the
00:12:29.11\00:12:37.62
city who had demons for a long
time. Any were no clothes. Nor
did he live in the House. But
00:12:37.62\00:12:44.66
in the tunes. And when he saw
Jesus, he cried out and he fell
down before him and with
00:12:44.66\00:12:51.40
a loud voice, he said, what have
I to do with you? Jesus, son of
the most high God. I
00:12:51.40\00:12:56.94
beg you do not torment me. For
you. Commanded the unclean
spirit come out of the man.

For it had often sees him and he
was kept under guard bound with
chains and shackles and

he broke the bonds and was
driven by the devil into the
wilderness. And Jesus said,

what is your name? And he said
Legion. Because many demons had
injured him. And they

begged him. He would not command
them to go out into the deep in

the word there's the abyss with
sells the nothingness. I want to
pause there. In fact, I'm going

read a little bit from the
Gospel of Mark same story. But
you know that one reason I know

the Bible is true is as the
different apostles wrote the
recounts, they add different

components because it's coming
from different perspectives. And
so when Mark tells a story

that some are chapter 5 verse,
one. They came to the other side

of the sea to the country. The
gatherings. And when he came out
of the vote immediately there

met him out of the tombs, a man
with an unclean spirit who had
his dwelling among the tombs.

And no one could bind him. No,
not even with chains because he
had often been bound with
00:14:06.84\00:14:11.51
shackles and chains and the
chains have been pulled apart by
him and the shackles broken
00:14:11.51\00:14:17.45
in pieces. Neither could anyone
tame him. And always night and
00:14:17.45\00:14:22.86
day he was in the mountains and
in the tombs, crying now done,
cutting himself with stones.

Look, doesn't mention that. And
when he saw Jesus from afar. He
ran and worshiped him. Now, you

would think that if there's a
man full of devils and he sees
Jesus going to run the other

way. But this man, whatever's
left of this man inside. He
comes to Jesus because he is

in a desperate situation. All
right. So there's a story. Let's
talk about that. Here.

You've got a man who's filled
with a legion of demons out. Can
you imagine for a second

how the disciples fell? When de?
Jesus after, you know, that
terrible experience, the

There's no wind anymore. They
got a row. They rolled the

boat to the shore and the sun is
just coming up. And the sea
silhouette on the hillside. It

is a cemetery. And they can see
the Hill is marked with. Tombs.
Cain's these to bury

people in the caves. Jesus was
buried in a cave in the side of
a hill. Well, as they pull

the boat up on the shore and the
disciples hop out, maybe they're
00:15:35.43\00:15:38.83
looking for some driftwood to
dry out their wet clothes and
their gear and all of a sudden

here, this terrible shriek is
inhumane screen. And they jump 3
feet off the ground. And they

see this creature come charging
out of the mouth of one of these
dark patterns. Rampaging

down the hill towards them.
Pieces of chains that are
hanging from his wrists and

clattering around his ankles,
medical around his neck. Got a
long, dirty matted here full

of leaves and sticks and and his
eyes are glaring and his his
mouth. This foamy need to
00:16:12.70\00:16:19.17
get gritted teeth. It's got no
clothes on. And his body is
covered with scars and wounds

that were self-inflicted. Now,
if you saw that. What would you
do? You know, this is one

time. I don't think the
disciples were saying you've got
the Bible tracts we can

share with this person. Let's
tell them about Jesus. They saw
him coming. And I'm pretty
00:16:38.69\00:16:46.50
sure that they all immediately
ran towards the boat. They were
already afraid before all
00:16:46.50\00:16:53.98
this happened. Now, there are
really afraid. They probably ran
for the boat. They dove in
00:16:53.98\00:16:58.05
the boat. They pushed off. They
were probably paddling with
their hands and kicking
00:16:58.05\00:17:03.02
with their feet. And it was the
first speedboat. As they pulled
away from shore. But
00:17:03.02\00:17:09.02
they get about 100 yards from
shore and someone decides to do
a head count. There's only
00:17:09.02\00:17:12.96
12 in the boat. They should have
been 13. He says that run. So
here's this man who is
00:17:12.96\00:17:22.54
filled with the devil's knot.
The Bible says he identifies
himself as a legion. A legion
00:17:22.54\00:17:29.01
could have anywhere from 2 to
6,000 soldiers are Roman Legion.
This man is in a very
00:17:29.01\00:17:33.58
serious way. how did he get that
way? Did God make a devil to
just harass us? Was this
00:17:33.58\00:17:45.23
man born possessed by You know,
the way that a person gets that
00:17:45.23\00:17:53.77
way is because you get good at
whatever you practice and if
over the course of our life, we
00:17:53.77\00:17:56.27
continually say yes to the
devil. We begin to surrender.
Our free will. And you can
00:17:56.27\00:18:02.18
finally get to the point you
don't even seem to have a choice
anymore because you
00:18:02.18\00:18:08.05
surrendered and surrendered and
giving and giving and giving and
00:18:08.05\00:18:11.29
so many times to the devil. But
he just sort of moves in and
takes over. Jesus talks about a
00:18:11.29\00:18:15.82
man who had 7 doubles cast out.
And they went to solitary places
looking for something else to
00:18:15.82\00:18:21.00
do and someone else too
possessing the came back and
found their old house. Swept

and cleaned actually was one

friends with him. And Jesus is

you get darkness out of a

room? Turn on the light. If you
want the devil out of your life
than you need the light

of the world, which is Jesus in
your life. And the devil doesn't
want to go where the

light is. But this man had been
invited in the darkness and he
reached this terrible

state. This man is the most last
man in the Bible. You think
about it for a minute.

And first of all. Where does he
live? And the tombs cemetery who

typically lives in the cemetery.
That's a trick question. do get
people do a lot of living in the
00:19:11.28\00:19:18.09
cemetery. Typically it's that
people. What does that
represent? You know, one time
00:19:18.09\00:19:25.56
a man said to Jesus, Lord, I
want to follow you. But first,
let me bury my father. You let
00:19:25.56\00:19:31.50
the dead bury the dead that you
follow me. I first read that I
was trying to picture
00:19:31.50\00:19:36.74
zombies conducting funerals. I
couldn't. does that mean? Then?
I read later in the
00:19:36.74\00:19:41.08
Bible where it said that people
who don't have the Lord are dead
00:19:41.08\00:19:47.65
in trespasses and sins. The
Bible says he that has the sun
has life. He that doesn't does
00:19:47.65\00:19:52.42
not have the sun does not have
life. You know, in this world
goal. And I. you don't have to
00:19:52.42\00:20:02.96
be under a death sentence if you
have Jesus, you internal life
begins for you. Now in this
00:20:02.96\00:20:08.00
life. Years ago, I remember
going to Egypt. And they had a a
a place. They're called the city
00:20:08.00\00:20:14.78
of the dead. I guess it started
thousands of years ago when they
00:20:14.78\00:20:22.68
had this great big cemetery with
very elaborate mausoleums and
tombs of people were buried in
00:20:22.68\00:20:26.12
and the poor people trying to
escape the elements. They would
move into these tombs. And then
00:20:26.12\00:20:32.96
the city, which a smile may move
in a chase. Not but the cemetery
Cairo's got like over
00:20:32.96\00:20:36.43
20 million people. And it's a
huge cemetery. More and more
poor people kept coming in.
00:20:36.43\00:20:42.14
Finally, the government got
tired of trying to evict them.
This not sanitary. We've got
00:20:42.14\00:20:45.71
at least provide water for them.
And the thought, well, we better
00:20:45.71\00:20:49.51
provide sewer and sanitation
form. And this is a better
provide electricity for him.
00:20:49.51\00:20:54.85
Pretty soon it became a zip
code. And how'd you like to have
that address? Where you live?

sick, sick, sick city of the
dead. I've been there. I've seen
this and there's families that

are living in this great, big,
elaborate tomb in this big cold
front in the middle. It's
00:21:10.13\00:21:12.20
the dining table. Can't grow
normal like that. Can you? But,
you know, the Bible says
00:21:12.20\00:21:17.64
this world. It's full of death.
And if the death is the enemy,
00:21:17.64\00:21:25.95
Jesus came to give life. At the
end, the devil and death are
cast into the Lake of Fire, he
00:21:25.95\00:21:32.95
says is going to destroy death.
They'll be no more sickness, no
more death. That's not his plan.

So this man, he's a surrounded,
but the dead. And what is he
wearing? He's not wearing

anything. What is clothing
represent in the Bible? Clothing

represents your character. All
of our clothing is a symbol of
filthy rags. The Bible says our
00:21:54.51\00:21:59.55
righteousness is like filthy
rags, but Jesus offers us a road
to cover our sin. When

Adam and got mixed up with the
devil they suddenly discovered
they were naked. This man is
00:22:05.82\00:22:09.06
naked. He doesn't seem to care.
God gave them robes of skin. How
00:22:09.06\00:22:15.96
do you get skin? Something has
to die. Got covered their
nakedness. To the skins of the
00:22:15.96\00:22:22.07
Lamb. Lamb had to die.
Revelation talks about the land
that was slain from the
00:22:22.07\00:22:24.97
foundation of the world. To
cover their nakedness to shame
their scent. So this naked state
00:22:24.97\00:22:30.75
represents in Bible tells us
from the book of acts about this
man that was full of the
00:22:30.75\00:22:34.45
devil. And 7 sons of tried to
cast him out. But they didn't
really know the Lord in this
00:22:34.45\00:22:42.72
demon possessed man jumped on
them, beat them and strip them.
And they fled. Make it.
00:22:42.72\00:22:48.30
Jesus tells a parable about the
Good Samaritan. Fell among
thieves who robbed him and
00:22:48.30\00:22:54.37
beat him and stripped him. This
is what the devil is done.
Humanity. Most people

don't seem to care. Which is
really sad when you think about
it. But I can relate.

Maybe tell a little more as the
