the story begins like,

a broken divided home.

out like me, thankfully.

But the bad choices
I made all growing up,

just terrible disaster

and just hurting people,
drug use and abuse and but...

few of the bad choices

that took you into direction

definitely away from God

toward a different power.

Really, I think it
was two main things

just kind of coming
from two different angles.

So the first one of course,

I grew up with lot
of violence around me

and so at an early age I really

saw that
violence was the answer.

I know it's not but
that's what I thought.

I saw my dad solve a
lot of problems through,

you know, pulling
people off the side of the road

and beating them
up to get, you know,

road rage or all these things

and so I had a lot
of fights in schools.

So just a lot of
violence growing up

and that whole
mentality I guess,

it led me easily into drug use,

even finding my
dad's stashed marijuana

and smoking that and
getting addicted to it

and just staying
with it for a long time

until that's all I can live for.

And what about
your spiritual life?

You kind of
took, you returned left

when you should
have turned right.

Well, the, you know,
I'm thankful, you know,

both my mom and
my dad were believers

and they
divorced when I was three

so I, kind of, have a
step mom and a step dad

but everybody believed in God.

There is no
doubt about that and...

But what happened is
because I didn't have

a very hands-on personal
direction in discipleship,

I ended up being

pretty much free
to make my own choices

when it comes
to spiritual things

and so even I went
to some Sunday schools

when I was a
kid, I don't remember

a whole lot about those,

I would know how
to do some crafts

but that's about it.

I didn't learn about Jesus,
I never connected with Him.

But when I found out
about this idea of witchcraft

or the occult,

my brother gave
me a book about that.

I started reading through
it and I just, I was in trance,

I really wanted to
have this kind of power

I was playing role playing games

like dungeons and
dragons, magic-the gathering

and reading books about dragons,

some fantasy lands, and,

you know, all these
things and though in my mind

I knew all of it was fiction,
all of the sudden I realized

my defenses were being let down.

And so whenever the
real Satanic witch craft,

it is truly Satanic whether...

You know, we learned
that there is white magic

and black magic

with some dope of some sort

Something tragic happened there,

Well, the juvenile facility,
they got tired on my...

I got arrested so many
times, positive for drugs,

possessions,
burglaries because of drugs

and all of these things.

They finally said,
"We're gonna do a drug rehab,

you need help,
you need treatment."

Which is great, not
that I wanted it but that,

you know, for a
society that wants to take care

of people's drug
problems, that's a great thing.

Problem was,

there wasn't a
spiritual element to that.

They were trying to

show me the
benefits of good choices

and the terrible
consequences of bad choices

which has it's affect but

I just couldn't wait
to get out of drug rehab

so I could do more drugs.

But while I was there,

that's when I
got into a conflict

with one of the
staff there at the facility

and I ended up
attacking him really bad

and it's in the
book, tells about that,

that turning point in my
life where I assaulted him

and I got locked up

and he went to the hospital
and it was pretty tragic.

So you ended up then actually,
they held you when you're 15?

yet, they can hold you over

Well, to try us as an adult,

was just the
process of them saying,

competent to stand trial."

And now he's 16, he's competent.

So now they sent
me off to County jail

where the other adults were,

and I'm actually
going to be standing trial.

But you only stand trial
if you're denying your crime

or some mitigating circumstances

and so you want
to be before a jury.

But, you know, I was guilty

and I became a
Christian during this time

and so I just, I
told the judge...

attorney actually thought

he'd be able to get you off

and so here you
are in County jail,

you get introduced to the lord.

got introduced to the Lord

in the juvenile
detention center,

it was a whole
flowing and process there,

I mean, I was a baby Christian,

I had no clue about anything,
I mean, I didn't know...

That's when your mother told you

to pick up a Bible and read it?

She did, which I
resented very much.

But the Spirit...

You believed, I mean,

your bible was the
book the Satan or Bible...

Right, which I was extremely mad

of because when I got locked up,

they actually took my
Satanic bible away from me,

they took it from
me and I was so mad.

But I did, I wanted,

I was going to
challenge the Bible

and I was, this
is I was 15 locked up

in the juvenile detention center

and I wanted to
challenge the Bible.

And that's when I
picked up the Bible, in fact,

I took it when
nobody was looking

'cause I, kind of,
have this reputation

for being a Satanist.

And so I took it back to
myself and with, you know,

23 hours a day,
studied or read rather

and it was in that journey
of going through the Bible

that I was converted.

But your mother gave you
a gift that turned out to be

up in psychiatric hospitals

for trying to run
away and threatening my dad

and they started labeling me

with all these
medical disorders,

mental disorders
and they were putting me

on all kinds of medications,
I mean, tons of medications.

Well, when I was in
the drug rehab program,

I was on some of
those drug medications

and because they
didn't had the dosage right

my attorney

Those were
mitigating circumstances.

And also my age
at the time and so...

But the judge, she

you're gonna do it all time.

And, you know, and I
was hoping for mercy.

I mean, I was
facing two life sentences.

I had a assault charge
and an armed criminal action,

it's almost like a
assault with a deadly weapon.

It's two actual crimes

and I was facing
the life sentences

for both of those.

Now I didn't think I
would get the life sentences

but still I could get
up to 30 years for both

and I did not want that.

what to do when
you got out of prison.

It's very difficult

if someone goes to
prison at an early age,

teenagers, you know,

their brain is still forming.

lobe's not even fully developed

locked up for all that time,

and I worked in the chapel

Now two things
that impressed me that
