the Sabbath school class,

I was walking in the hallway

and a personal friend had
known our family for a long time

she was almost mad.

every Friday night in my house

And we began to pray to
God, and we said two things,

been in the ministry

for little over six years.

We've had over 70 seminars.

We've been to camp
meetings in Canada,

cowboy camp
meetings, Hawaii, all over.

And we also wanted
everybody to understand that

dedicated to the ministry.

we would charge nothing
for any of our materials.

where you should kind of say

exactly what God has done.

The reason that He
does that is twofold.

Himself is a description

and what He will do in our life.

Number two, it is that promise.

And as you begin to read
the stories in the Bible,

acquainted with these names,

the stories kind of come

particular circumstance,

Now one of the
things down the road,

we're gonna talk
about is the Book of Judges.

Nobody reads the
Book of Judges at devotion

and yet is that name
00:08:21.36\00:08:22.96
the God introduces
himself as the God of peace.
00:08:23.00\00:08:28.97
Jehovah-Shalom.
00:08:29.00\00:08:30.41
And the worst book
perhaps of the Bible,

the bloodiest book,
00:08:33.71\00:08:35.04
He says hello, My name is peace.

So, I believe that
names of God are important

because it's a
facet of His character

that helps opens up who He is.

Now, it's not the
only way to know God,

there is many ways.

It's just that we chose
in our ministry to study

and to share with people,

the different names
and the different promises.

One other thing that
helped me personally,

in my Bible study many years ago

when I began to understand

that the hero of every
story in the Bible is God.

It is not Job, you
know, as a little boy,

I was taught Job
just had all this faith.
00:09:19.29\00:09:22.12
Then as a teenager,
00:09:22.16\00:09:23.49
I began to read Job
and he says why was I born,
00:09:23.53\00:09:27.06
I wished I would have
died in my mother's womb
00:09:27.10\00:09:29.56
or what kind of
faith is all of this, see.
00:09:29.60\00:09:32.07
But Job is not the hero, God is.
00:09:32.10\00:09:34.50
Joan is not the hero, God is.
00:09:34.54\00:09:37.17
David is not the hero, God is.
00:09:37.21\00:09:40.41
And so, as we have the privilege

of presenting the names of God,

telling what His character
is and what His promise,

then God becomes the hero.

Now, in our
ministry we hear two things

most every church that we go to.

The first one is,

"Why are we just
now hearing this message

about the names of God?"

which just
thrills our hearts is,

"I knew that God loved me,

but I've really didn't
know how much He love me?"

like to wander from God.

And one of the
better known names is Yahweh

for which the Jews
use a tetragrammaton.

Kind of talk to us
about the name of Yahweh?

Yahweh is the second name

that God introduced
Himself by the scriptures.

The first name is Elohim.

Elohim which we're going
to discuss in another session,

simply means the covenant maker.

The second name is Yahweh.

Now, Yahweh says,

I am that I am, the great I am.

Well, what is that really mean?

And so Yahweh comes along

of righteousness.

relationship with my child

Now, lot of times we go

to God pointing out sin.

grandchildren came to me

And the next thing I know

Now, I wouldn't

that boy's attention

that freeway into safety.

He is going to point out sin,

because He doesn't want anything

to separate His child from Him.

the beauty of Yahweh,

There's two places in the Bible

that Satan, the adversary,

The first name as I mentioned
in Genesis 1 is Elohim,

the covenant maker

He used the name of Yahweh.

And of course we know the story

how Eve was deceived

and eventually ate the
fruit, brought it back to Adam.

In the cool of that evening,
