Is it true that we have a creator or as Darwin 00:00:57.07\00:01:03.96 theorized and surmised that there was just a warm pile of 00:01:03.99\00:01:07.51 goo and we came crawling out of it. We're going to be talking 00:01:07.54\00:01:11.03 again today with Jim Burr and Jim welcome back to 3ABN. 00:01:11.06\00:01:15.31 Thank you. Yeah this is going to be a 00:01:15.34\00:01:16.81 fascinating topic and I don't want to take any of your time 00:01:16.85\00:01:20.21 so let's just jump right into it. 00:01:20.24\00:01:22.38 These half hours go fast, don't they? They do. You know 00:01:22.42\00:01:26.23 something I really think I need to mention here. 00:01:26.26\00:01:27.87 It's interesting when you're looking at archeology and 00:01:27.91\00:01:33.27 you're looking at fossils that every new discovery gets 00:01:33.30\00:01:38.21 headlines. There was a discovery in 1999 and in National 00:01:38.24\00:01:41.25 Geographic, and I don't think this is going to go on the 00:01:41.29\00:01:44.48 camera so I'll show it to you. It may be on the camera. They 00:01:44.52\00:01:47.84 have discovered this fossil and now they said we finally have 00:01:47.88\00:01:51.17 the missing link between birds and dinosaurs, and it was 00:01:51.20\00:01:56.47 mentioned several times as the missing link, and we can now say 00:01:56.51\00:01:59.55 that birds are pterypods just as surely as we can say that humans 00:01:59.59\00:02:02.60 are mammals. There were 8-10 pages, beautiful color pages, 00:02:02.64\00:02:07.69 about feathers for T-Rex. This was in November of 1999. It was 00:02:07.72\00:02:12.74 later discovered this was a forgery. Somebody had gone in 00:02:12.77\00:02:15.17 and doctored up a fossil, put a tail and put different legs on 00:02:15.21\00:02:18.80 it to make it look like a bird. So in November this eight pages 00:02:18.83\00:02:23.00 came out. In April, here is the retraction saying we were fooled 00:02:23.04\00:02:27.18 it was not a fossil. 00:02:27.21\00:02:29.56 So eight pages compared to three tiny little paragraphs of a 00:02:29.60\00:02:32.67 retraction. Yeah, that's right. Now what's 00:02:32.70\00:02:33.88 interesting to me is the headlines they get. I mean, 00:02:33.92\00:02:38.40 every few months you see some new discovery that proves 00:02:38.44\00:02:42.85 evolution. Shelley, if let's say the University of San Diego made 00:02:42.89\00:02:46.76 a press release today and it said we have a new discovery. 00:02:46.79\00:02:51.02 We have proven that cigarettes cause lung cancer. How much 00:02:51.05\00:02:55.25 headline would you think they would get tomorrow? 00:02:55.28\00:02:57.18 They would not get any. Everybody knows that. 00:02:57.22\00:02:59.05 On every pack of cigarettes it says that. Everybody knows that 00:02:59.09\00:03:01.50 right. And yet many evolutionists would come 00:03:01.53\00:03:03.66 across saying we have an infinite amount, we have just 00:03:03.70\00:03:07.20 lots of fossils. We have all these fossils. You know, we 00:03:07.23\00:03:10.66 don't need any more fossils and yet every fossil that comes out 00:03:10.70\00:03:13.14 gets a big headline. 00:03:13.17\00:03:14.31 Because the evidence is so underwhelming. 00:03:14.35\00:03:16.96 Yes, exactly right, exactly right. Something I've been 00:03:17.00\00:03:20.99 really fascinated with and this is a model I made of the 00:03:21.02\00:03:24.94 bacterial flagellar motor. The little bacteria can swim. It has 00:03:24.98\00:03:28.83 all the ingredients of a motor. It has a starter like you have 00:03:28.86\00:03:33.65 in your blender. And it has an armature, it has bearings in 00:03:33.68\00:03:37.50 there and it has a universal joint. It has a propeller that 00:03:37.54\00:03:41.05 allows it to swim. It's kind of a whip-like thing. And actually 00:03:41.09\00:03:45.24 some of these can spin 100,000 times a second. You know the 00:03:45.27\00:03:49.38 closest thing we've got to that on planet earth is a dentist's 00:03:49.42\00:03:53.50 drill. And this is a bacteria? 00:03:53.53\00:03:55.17 This is bacteria and you can put four billion of them in a 00:03:55.21\00:03:58.83 thimble. And they can stop on a dime and reverse directions, you 00:03:58.87\00:04:02.80 see. And how did this all evolve Well Michael Behe has always 00:04:02.84\00:04:06.59 said that this is irreducibly complex. You need everything 00:04:06.62\00:04:09.97 to make it work. You take off the propeller it won't swim. 00:04:10.00\00:04:13.28 Everything on here you have to have. There was a trial in Dover 00:04:13.32\00:04:17.85 Pennsylvania and they brought in witnesses and they tried to 00:04:17.88\00:04:21.49 show that there was something similar to this that even though 00:04:21.53\00:04:25.11 it didn't spin it looked a little bit like this. So they 00:04:25.14\00:04:28.13 tried to challenge the claims of intelligent design and the judge 00:04:28.17\00:04:33.07 bought it and they threw it out the idea of intelligent design. 00:04:33.10\00:04:38.46 But anyhow as I know how time goes by so fast here I'm going 00:04:38.50\00:04:45.84 down here to the meat of the program. Jonathan Wells, the 00:04:45.88\00:04:50.65 doctor that wrote this book Darwinism and Intelligent Design 00:04:50.69\00:04:55.45 and he says Darwinian evolution will lose because of the 00:04:55.48\00:05:00.21 evidence. They've had 150 years and the evidence is 00:05:00.24\00:05:02.51 underwhelming. All these years they've had and intelligent 00:05:02.55\00:05:07.54 design has actually come out in recent time and is coming on 00:05:07.57\00:05:12.21 strong. Doctors and scientists are beginning to join in on that 00:05:12.25\00:05:17.28 They would tell you that in a warm little pond is where life 00:05:17.31\00:05:22.10 started, a little amoeba. It's like goo to you by way of the 00:05:22.13\00:05:26.47 zoo as somebody has said. You started as an amoeba, look at 00:05:26.50\00:05:30.81 you now. As we've said in previous 00:05:30.84\00:05:34.07 programs the thing that always amazes me is as much as they 00:05:34.11\00:05:37.68 studied a tiny little amoeba cell and how complicated it is. 00:05:37.72\00:05:41.08 You said last program, I believe it was, that they have proven 00:05:41.12\00:05:45.49 that it's more complicated, the single cell, than all of the 00:05:45.53\00:05:49.35 universe works. Yet, as much as they try to duplicate that, 00:05:49.39\00:05:53.99 study it or watch it to see if it will evolve or split or do 00:05:54.02\00:05:59.02 this, that and the other, they can't get it to do it. So it's 00:05:59.06\00:06:04.03 fascinating... You know we're going to get into 00:06:04.06\00:06:07.21 that, how you could evolve things upward, how mistakes in 00:06:07.25\00:06:11.65 the replication of DNA could add information, useful information. 00:06:11.69\00:06:15.97 Let's say that this book had enough information you could 00:06:16.00\00:06:19.39 make an amoeba, there's enough information there to make an 00:06:19.42\00:06:22.08 amoeba. But now you want to give him an eye; what do you need? 00:06:22.12\00:06:24.75 You need more volumes of information, right? And you can 00:06:24.78\00:06:28.81 never evolve this information upward. We're going to show that 00:06:28.85\00:06:33.16 when I get to the cake recipe. OK. But you know Romans 1:18 00:06:33.20\00:06:36.54 says that the invisible things of him from the creation of the 00:06:36.57\00:06:39.88 world are clearly seen. Those who don't accept a creator 00:06:39.91\00:06:44.53 it talks about the wrath of God but it says they will be without 00:06:44.57\00:06:49.29 excuse. People who want to believe evolution can find 00:06:49.32\00:06:52.08 people... I mean they have itching ears. They can tell them 00:06:52.12\00:06:54.47 what they want to hear, make them feel comfortable, OK it 00:06:54.50\00:06:56.85 sounds good. I'll buy that. I don't have to believe in a God. 00:06:56.88\00:06:59.99 But the Bible says that there's enough evidence, the invisible 00:07:00.03\00:07:02.85 things of him in the creation of the world are clearly seen so 00:07:02.88\00:07:05.48 they'll be without excuse, people who say there is no God. 00:07:05.52\00:07:08.05 It doesn't matter if it's an ant bed or a termite colony. The fascination once was 00:07:40.19\00:07:44.12 the universe; now you're getting where you're fascinated with the 00:07:44.15\00:07:48.05 cells aren't you. It just blows me away again. 00:07:48.08\00:07:50.19 But I'm going to show you some little creatures from a pond 00:07:50.23\00:07:54.30 water behind our house. They are called rotifers. They have a 00:07:54.34\00:07:57.87 clip now I think ready to roll. These little guys look like 00:07:57.90\00:08:01.37 Huey helicopters. They have dual blades. They're cilia, they're 00:08:01.41\00:08:04.85 not propellers but they look like it. 00:08:04.88\00:08:06.19 Are these the ones you said were tiny enough to swim inside my 00:08:06.23\00:08:10.13 hair? Yes, they can swim right up your 00:08:10.16\00:08:11.77 hair and if you've got fat hair they could probably do a U-turn 00:08:11.81\00:08:14.42 and swim back down. Now they're playing volleyball there with 00:08:14.45\00:08:17.55 that diatom, that radiosymetric diatom. These little propellers 00:08:17.59\00:08:20.66 are retractable. Did you see them on the right being 00:08:20.69\00:08:23.56 being retracted. There he goes. He's a server. He pulls this 00:08:23.60\00:08:26.62 back in. Now see him open them up. You can see the heart 00:08:26.65\00:08:29.85 beating on those too. These are not single cells. These are 00:08:29.88\00:08:32.98 actually maybe a thousand cells. You see him on the left over 00:08:33.01\00:08:35.66 there playing volleyball again, rotating that little thing. 00:08:35.69\00:08:38.67 You cannot see them with the human eye and yet they're small 00:08:38.71\00:08:42.03 enough to swim inside a human hair. I'm going to show you a 00:08:42.06\00:08:45.09 human hair. Coming up now you're going to see on the screen the 00:08:45.12\00:08:48.06 size of a human hair under the microscope in comparison. You'll 00:08:48.09\00:08:51.00 see these little guys are smaller than the human hair. 00:08:51.03\00:08:54.09 That's incredible. How would you classify a rotifer, what is it? 00:08:54.13\00:09:02.75 It's a small celled creature that lives in ponds. It can 00:09:02.78\00:09:06.29 travel on the wind. There's a hundred thousand varieties of 00:09:06.33\00:09:09.70 rotifers, a hundred thousand varieties. These are leech-type. 00:09:09.74\00:09:13.01 And they're like little motor boats. They have their tail 00:09:13.05\00:09:16.20 hooked to the slide and if they let that tail go you'll see 00:09:16.24\00:09:19.57 them take off and you can't keep up with them. In one of these 00:09:19.60\00:09:22.62 cuts you'll see it swim across. You'll see he's coming this way 00:09:22.66\00:09:26.54 you'll see him rotating as he goes. That's how they find their 00:09:26.57\00:09:30.39 food is by filtering water as they spin these cilia. Looks 00:09:30.42\00:09:34.81 like propellers. But I think they're going to show us the 00:09:34.85\00:09:38.53 human hair coming up and so you'll be able to see the size 00:09:38.56\00:09:41.38 of human hair. And we're going to have a couple of other 00:09:41.42\00:09:44.17 rotifers on there as well. The human hair will take up about a 00:09:44.21\00:09:48.92 third of that screen. Now they're under a piece of duck 00:09:48.95\00:09:52.44 weed, those six or so you see there. That's part of an arch 00:09:52.48\00:09:55.24 of a duck weed. Here's a little different type of rotifer. 00:09:55.28\00:09:57.97 You'll see him; he's retractable too. That pointer is part of the 00:09:58.01\00:10:02.46 microscope. And you see him drawing water to get his food. 00:10:02.49\00:10:05.59 Sometimes you can even see it spit out. There it retracted, 00:10:05.62\00:10:08.69 you see it retract and open up again. 00:10:08.72\00:10:11.34 That's amazing. This can't be seen with the naked eye. 00:10:11.38\00:10:15.00 No you can't see it. Now there's some sort of a little worm type. 00:10:15.04\00:10:17.98 There goes a rotifer across the screen and that's some little 00:10:18.02\00:10:20.69 worm-type creature there. You'll see one from 00:10:26.66\00:10:30.60 the bottom. He can stretch clear across the screen. I see them 00:10:30.63\00:10:35.19 look like they're out fly fishing. Look at this one at the 00:10:35.23\00:10:39.76 bottom now. They call these Euglena. 00:10:39.79\00:10:43.71 And these are tiny little things that can actually fit inside a 00:10:43.75\00:10:47.39 human hair. Yes. A human hair normally, if 00:10:47.42\00:10:49.93 you've got fine hair, it's probably 1000th of an inch to 00:10:49.97\00:10:52.30 2000th of an inch. If you've got coarse hair it may be 500th of 00:10:52.34\00:10:55.63 an inch. A business card would be 500th to 1000th of an inch 00:10:55.66\00:10:58.92 so they'd be smaller than the thickness of a... 00:10:58.95\00:11:00.33 It never occurred to me that a little life form like that could 00:11:00.37\00:11:05.96 have a heartbeat. I didn't even think about that. 00:11:05.99\00:11:08.56 Yes, Yes. So would they have DNA? 00:11:08.59\00:11:12.23 Yes, Yes they have DNA. So one strand comes from your father, 00:13:36.01\00:13:39.10 one comes from your mother and it makes up you. 00:13:39.13\00:13:42.11 And then the chromosomes are like the... That's what the 00:13:42.15\00:13:46.15 white here is representing and this would be like the chapters 00:13:46.19\00:13:49.18 in a book. Yeah, the strands here would be 00:13:49.21\00:13:52.23 like at book. These would be like the chapters. 00:13:52.27\00:13:54.39 The chromosomes would be like sentences, the genes, yeah the 00:13:54.43\00:13:59.23 genes are like sentences. 00:13:59.26\00:14:00.81 So we've got the DNA is like the book, the chromosomes are the 00:14:00.85\00:14:06.51 chapters and the genes are the sentences in the chapters. 00:14:06.54\00:14:09.60 And all of this has to come from two people to make up the code, 00:14:09.64\00:14:15.53 this is what you were showing me here. There's a code here that 00:14:15.57\00:14:22.14 has meaning and this... No two people have the same DNA. So 00:14:49.45\00:14:54.47 that's 46 chromosomes. 00:14:54.50\00:14:56.02 Well the chromosomes aren't shown really on here. These are 00:14:56.06\00:14:59.14 the building blocks of DNA. These are the exact designations 00:14:59.17\00:15:02.22 T, T, A, A, A, A, T, T, that they have assigned to the 00:15:02.25\00:15:06.95 proteins that make up the building blocks here. And then 00:15:06.98\00:15:10.58 we had G, G, C, C, G, G, and so forth. Probably ran out of 00:15:10.62\00:15:15.02 letters and then I had to use one to fill it out and so I put 00:15:15.05\00:15:19.48 in here J for junk DNA and scientists say there's junk DNA. 00:15:19.51\00:15:23.87 That came from evolution. That's junk DNA that was left over from 00:15:23.91\00:15:29.56 the evolutionary process and probably it's just DNA they 00:15:29.59\00:15:32.45 haven't figured out yet. The interesting thing is there's a 00:15:32.48\00:15:35.31 message here and it has take hundreds of thousands of 00:15:35.34\00:15:41.12 scientists' hours to be able to read the DNA. Francis Crick and 00:15:41.16\00:15:44.70 those guys finally figured it out. But the cells knew it from 00:15:44.74\00:15:47.99 the beginning. The cells could read this code. You see it's 00:15:48.02\00:15:50.73 like you didn't know what this code said. The cells in your 00:15:50.77\00:15:53.81 body said, ah-ha, I'm supposed to make a heart, I'm supposed 00:15:53.84\00:15:56.26 to make your lungs, I'm supposed to make your blue eyes. 00:15:56.29\00:15:58.64 You see all the things about you that spell you out are in the 00:15:58.68\00:16:04.57 genes that are in the DNA. There's something I want to ask 00:16:04.61\00:16:10.43 you because you hear that the... Let's see, we're 46 chromosomes, 00:16:10.47\00:16:14.35 that's 23 from each parent, and then we hear something about the 00:16:14.39\00:16:18.24 apes being 48. Yeah 48. So there's a big to do over that 00:16:18.27\00:16:23.43 we're two chromosomes away from an ape, but you shared something 00:16:23.47\00:16:27.47 with me that I thought was fascinating about tobacco and 00:16:27.50\00:16:31.04 the bat. Yes. You're only two chromosomes 00:16:31.07\00:16:33.58 away from being a bat or a tobacco plant. A fern is like 00:16:33.62\00:16:38.18 400 and some chromosomes. So you can't really base it... 00:16:38.22\00:16:41.95 If they say we're only two chromosomes away from being a 00:16:41.99\00:16:45.65 chimpanzee that really doesn't carry any weight. That's really 00:16:45.69\00:16:47.64 not how... So that's just one of those 00:16:47.67\00:16:49.49 evolutionary or the evolutionists ideas of hype 00:16:49.53\00:16:52.96 if you will. It sounds like a good argument. 00:16:52.99\00:16:56.35 Right? They say oh look at here. That's makes headlines, that 00:16:56.39\00:17:00.06 kind of stuff. But if we said we're only two 00:17:00.09\00:17:02.92 chromosomes away from a bat, nobody paid any attention. 00:17:02.96\00:17:05.79 That's right. So scientists have worked for decades to be able 00:17:05.83\00:17:09.95 to read this, but the cells could read it all the time the 00:17:09.98\00:17:14.07 way God designed it. So to illustrate this a little more 00:17:16.84\00:17:22.54 the process of evolution, I have a recipe here for cake. OK, 00:17:22.58\00:17:26.39 there's a cake recipe and you wouldn't have any problem making 00:17:26.42\00:17:30.34 a fruit cake. All right. That's all the ingredients for making 00:17:30.38\00:17:34.27 a fruit cake. This is a real fruit cake. 00:17:34.30\00:17:36.77 That's a real fruit cake, yes. 00:17:36.80\00:17:38.05 All right is it a spicy dark fruit cake or a light fruit cake 00:17:38.09\00:17:43.90 The thing is every time the DNA reproduces, replicates itself, 00:17:43.93\00:17:47.88 to illustrate, every time you make this cake you've got to 00:17:47.91\00:17:52.17 rewrite this recipe. You see every time you compare it with 00:17:52.20\00:17:55.67 DNA, every time it replicates itself, it rewrites the recipe. 00:17:55.70\00:17:59.14 Oh, OK. This is fairly simple. But let's 00:17:59.17\00:18:05.90 say you had big recipe. Let's say that you had to rewrite this 00:18:05.94\00:18:09.26 one a typewriter. Now your DNA in each cell is six feet long. 00:18:09.29\00:18:12.58 Wow. If you could unravel all the DNA 00:18:12.61\00:18:17.32 in all of your cells it would reach to the moon like back and 00:18:17.36\00:18:20.70 forth a million times. I forget the numbers, it's incredible. 00:18:20.74\00:18:24.05 But if you're going to sit at a typewriter and try to 00:18:24.08\00:18:26.03 reduplicate this, once in a while you'll make a mistake, 00:18:26.07\00:18:29.09 wouldn't you. There's quite a bit on here and you'd make a 00:18:29.13\00:18:32.04 mistake. Well that's how evolution says that we came to 00:18:32.07\00:18:34.91 to be. That's how amoeba got the eyeball or whatever was in the 00:18:34.95\00:18:38.84 process of evolution was by mistakes or mutations. In the 00:18:38.87\00:18:44.16 process of trying to copy this there is a mistake made, a 00:18:44.19\00:18:49.45 mutation.
