¤ ¤ 00:00:02.00\00:00:30.42 Hello I'm Shelley Quinn and welcome again to 00:00:30.46\00:00:32.32 Issues and Answers. We welcome you no matter where 00:00:32.36\00:00:34.77 you're joining us from around the world. I think today you're 00:00:34.81\00:00:38.15 going to be extra glad that you tuned in because we are going to 00:00:38.18\00:00:42.27 have an incredible discussion on evolution, intelligent design 00:00:42.31\00:00:46.58 and creationism. You know the bible says in Romans 1:18 and 19 00:00:46.62\00:00:50.86 let me read this to you. It says For God's holy wrath and 00:00:50.89\00:00:54.25 indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness 00:00:54.29\00:00:58.43 and all unrighteousness of men who in their wickedness repress 00:00:58.46\00:01:02.62 and hinder the truth and make it inoperative. For that which is 00:01:02.65\00:01:06.78 known about God is evident to them and made plain in their 00:01:06.81\00:01:11.96 inner consciousness because God himself has shown it to them. 00:01:11.99\00:01:16.76 For ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature 00:01:16.80\00:01:21.03 and attributes, that is his eternal power and divinity have 00:01:21.07\00:01:25.13 been made intelligible and clearly discernible through the 00:01:25.16\00:01:29.58 things that have been made. So men are without excuse, 00:01:29.61\00:01:33.82 altogether without any kind of defense or justification. 00:01:33.86\00:01:38.16 Please help us welcome our special guest Jim Burr and Jim 00:01:38.19\00:01:42.84 is the president of Heavens Declare ministry. Jim we are 00:01:42.87\00:01:47.49 so thankful that you have returned to 3ABN. 00:01:47.52\00:01:50.50 Yeah, it's always an honor for me to get a call and say would 00:01:50.54\00:01:53.24 you come again, invited back. It's a big honor. 00:01:53.27\00:01:55.70 You know I remember watching you some years ago when you did the 00:01:55.74\00:01:59.30 Christian Concerns and it was always so fascinating because 00:01:59.33\00:02:03.59 your whole involvement is fascinating to me because you 00:02:03.63\00:02:07.82 started off in the television business and then just through 00:02:07.86\00:02:12.34 amateur astronomy, you became very interested in that, 00:02:12.37\00:02:15.02 suddenly you started developing and manufacturing telescopes and 00:02:15.06\00:02:19.79 you've even sold telescopes to NASA haven't you? 00:02:19.82\00:02:22.60 We did sell two, yes, for the Mars science lab which the 00:02:22.64\00:02:25.65 project now, the major part, has been cancelled, but yes we did 00:02:25.69\00:02:28.16 sell two to NASA. That is amazing. And I know that 00:02:28.19\00:02:31.36 you're also an inventor and you hold 12 or at least about a 00:02:31.40\00:02:35.42 dozen patents, I think. 00:02:35.45\00:02:36.88 Something like that I guess yeah 00:02:36.92\00:02:38.08 Something like that. Now what we're going to be talking today 00:02:38.12\00:02:43.50 about is creationism, evolution and intelligent design. Let me 00:02:43.53\00:02:49.45 ask you a quick question. When our schools are saying we want 00:02:49.48\00:02:54.05 science for our kids. We want it to be absolutely something 00:02:54.09\00:02:58.47 that's trustworthy, that you can prove. You've got these three 00:02:58.50\00:03:02.00 theories out here and really to me creationism and intelligent 00:03:02.04\00:03:05.75 design are very closely akin. Intelligent design just doesn't 00:03:05.78\00:03:11.37 say who the designer is. But can the Bible be proven? Let me 00:03:11.40\00:03:16.34 phrase this another way. Is science really that reliable? 00:03:16.38\00:03:21.25 Well we're going to show today that there are so many problems 00:03:21.29\00:03:24.38 with science. So much is learned Every day something new is 00:03:24.41\00:03:27.89 coming out and old things are shown to be obsolete and we've 00:03:27.93\00:03:31.38 got new theories. Even now they're saying we need a new 00:03:31.41\00:03:35.58 physics because this latest discovery violates all standard 00:03:35.62\00:03:39.72 physics. So what we want to do is show the cry is give us... 00:03:39.75\00:03:43.82 we want science. We want something we can taste, touch 00:03:43.85\00:03:46.61 feel you know verify, solid science. And yet we're going to 00:03:46.65\00:03:51.10 show some of the problems with evolution and the thing about 00:03:51.13\00:03:55.50 intelligent design... The intelligent design movement is a 00:03:55.53\00:03:59.86 recent movement as opposed to evolution. The intelligent 00:03:59.89\00:04:04.15 design people tend not to say who this intelligent designer is 00:04:04.19\00:04:08.42 They're kind of fence straddlers aren't they? 00:04:08.45\00:04:10.22 Yeah right. They're kind of between a rock and a hard place. 00:04:10.26\00:04:13.92 The evolutionists say tell us who this intelligent designer is 00:04:13.96\00:04:17.06 so we can write it off. We want to write off God. Tell us it's 00:04:17.09\00:04:20.16 God, come on tell us. And they're reluctant to say it's 00:04:20.19\00:04:22.37 God and the Christians over here are saying to the intelligent 00:04:22.41\00:04:25.58 design people, tell them, tell them it's God. Because it's on 00:04:25.61\00:04:29.20 it's on our side you see. Basically Michael Behe has been 00:04:29.24\00:04:32.62 one who is really prominent in that and has come out with 00:04:32.66\00:04:35.97 the Darwin's Black Box which is really a wonderful book and he 00:04:36.01\00:04:39.79 shows the complexity of the bacteria flagellar motor, he 00:04:39.82\00:04:44.00 talks about the mousetrap that you need all the ingredients 00:04:44.04\00:04:48.15 there before it works. It's like your car. If I take your starter 00:04:48.19\00:04:51.04 it isn't going to work, right. If I pull out a piston, it's not 00:04:51.08\00:04:55.14 going to run. So Michael Behe is saying irreducible complexity, 00:04:55.17\00:04:58.81 everything has to be there and how do you evolve all of these 00:04:58.85\00:05:03.45 different ingredients to make it work. So the cry is we want 00:05:03.49\00:05:07.91 science for our kids. So today I would just like to show what 00:05:07.95\00:05:11.63 some of the problems with evolution are and then show how 00:05:11.66\00:05:15.27 we can actually test the Bible. The Bible's not a science book, 00:05:15.31\00:05:18.98 but yet there are so many things that are scientifically accurate 00:05:19.02\00:05:22.66 You know the Bible writers were prevented from following the 00:05:22.69\00:05:26.43 common errors of the day. You know when some religions said 00:05:26.47\00:05:29.45 the earth is supported on the backs of turtles and elephants. 00:05:29.48\00:05:32.43 That it was flat. Yeah and that kind of stuff. 00:05:32.46\00:05:34.92 And the Bible writers talk about the circle of the earth. Let me 00:05:34.96\00:05:41.26 share this real quick. I'm not going to have much to say 00:05:41.29\00:05:43.65 through this whole program but when we were talking earlier I 00:05:43.69\00:05:46.83 told you one of my favorite scriptures was Job 38:19. It 00:05:46.86\00:05:50.47 says, where is the way where light dwells and as for darkness 00:05:50.51\00:05:54.97 where is it's abode? And then in the note here in my Bible, the 00:05:55.00\00:05:59.43 footnote says, how except by divine inspiration could Job 00:05:59.46\00:06:03.01 have known that light does not dwell in a place but in a way 00:06:03.05\00:06:06.86 for light as modern man has discovered involves motion, wave 00:06:06.90\00:06:10.93 motions traveling 186,000 miles a second it can only dwell in a 00:06:10.97\00:06:14.97 way. So like you said the Bible proves to be far beyond... 00:06:15.00\00:06:19.46 We're probably going to mention the 15 points here that can be 00:06:19.50\00:06:23.06 tested and this is what they're saying. You can't test creation, 00:06:23.09\00:06:26.62 you can't test intelligent design. You know we want 00:06:26.65\00:06:29.36 something that can be tested and falsified. And I think we can 00:06:29.40\00:06:31.55 test it and that's what I would like to share with you today. 00:06:31.58\00:06:33.90 You wouldn't teach astronomy from a book that's 25 years old 00:06:33.94\00:06:39.68 because it's just out of date. I was on an airplane, this was a 00:06:39.72\00:06:43.73 red eye into Denver at 2 in the morning and I turned on KOA's 00:06:43.77\00:06:47.56 radio just in time to hear the announcer say Professor you have 00:06:47.60\00:06:51.36 written this book and you say you can now show through 00:06:51.39\00:06:53.64 chemistry and physics there is no God. And I'm going I got to 00:06:53.68\00:06:56.84 get on the radio. I have KOA on my speed dial along with a 00:06:56.88\00:06:59.91 couple other radio stations. So I'm headed home up in the 00:06:59.94\00:07:02.90 mountains, it's almost an hour's drive, and I get on the radio 00:07:02.94\00:07:06.33 and I say professor you know there's two sides to every story 00:07:06.36\00:07:09.72 He's presenting his case on evolution and there's no God 00:07:09.75\00:07:12.95 and yet the announcer is not challenging him or questioning 00:07:12.99\00:07:16.18 him on it. So I get on the radio and I say you know there's two 00:07:16.21\00:07:19.51 sides to every story. I said I read these magazines. I would 00:07:19.55\00:07:22.24 like to paraphrase, I'm on the freeway, I can't read it to you, 00:07:22.28\00:07:25.76 but I would like to paraphrase six quotations from some of the 00:07:25.79\00:07:28.33 scientific magazines. I'd like to be able to talk about them 00:07:28.36\00:07:31.22 after I paraphrase them for you. I had a little chance while I 00:07:31.26\00:07:35.21 was on hold to write a few notes and so I said professor there 00:07:35.25\00:07:39.17 was an article in the Sky and Telescope magazine and the 00:07:39.20\00:07:41.56 headline said how can astronomers keep a straight face 00:07:41.59\00:07:44.44 because to the public they present the idea that evolution 00:07:44.47\00:07:47.78 is a fact and yet they argue over five major areas of the big 00:07:47.81\00:07:51.55 bang. How can they keep a straight face? I said in Sky and 00:07:51.58\00:07:55.25 Telescope magazine of 2001 there was an article where we now know 00:07:55.29\00:07:58.51 and it's proven that the universe is expanding it's 00:07:58.54\00:08:01.33 acceleration of the galaxies like somebody's got their pedal 00:08:01.37\00:08:03.95 on the metal. They're going faster and faster apart every 00:08:03.98\00:08:06.94 day and Sky and Telescope says this violates all standard 00:08:06.97\00:08:10.11 physics. Now the cry is we want the latest science and here 00:08:10.14\00:08:13.36 they're saying this discovery violates physics, right? And 00:08:13.40\00:08:16.09 professor here's an article in Astronomy magazine. They're 00:08:16.13\00:08:18.75 talking about Lauren and Postman These two famous people you read 00:08:18.79\00:08:22.71 about, you hear their names a lot, and they believe it looks 00:08:22.74\00:08:26.47 like, they have discovered a river of galaxies. Here's a 00:08:26.50\00:08:30.16 river of galaxies going that-a- way. What does the article say? 00:08:30.20\00:08:33.11 If this is true, we know less that nothing. 00:08:33.14\00:08:35.44 Everything keeps disproving their previous theories. 00:08:35.48\00:08:38.96 We know less than nothing. Now I know writers like to make a 00:08:39.00\00:08:41.14 good story, right? But it's still interesting reading. We 00:08:41.17\00:08:44.41 know less than nothing if this discovery is true. So I'm 00:08:44.45\00:08:47.62 quoting the different quotations Well about this time the radio 00:08:47.66\00:08:52.35 man, the announcer, comes on and says we have a news break 00:08:52.38\00:08:55.15 coming up, could I remain on the phone. Well of course. 00:08:55.19\00:08:57.92 It's 3 in the morning and I should be sleeping but I'm 00:08:57.95\00:09:00.61 pumped, right? So he comes back on and I say professor I've read 00:09:00.65\00:09:07.39 more than one time where people talking about the super nova 00:09:07.42\00:09:12.38 explosion. We have in our galaxy explosions of stars, we 00:09:12.42\00:09:16.25 can call them explosions. We have the biggest stars, seem 00:09:16.29\00:09:19.20 to be the gas guzzlers, the biggest ones seem to use up 00:09:19.24\00:09:22.41 their fuel and expand like a balloon till they can't expand 00:09:22.45\00:09:25.74 any more and then we get this humongous nuclear eruption and 00:09:25.77\00:09:28.62 it's beautiful. Most of the pictures that we'll see that 00:09:28.65\00:09:31.72 we'll be showing are these exploding super nova eruptions. 00:09:31.76\00:09:34.72 And I said I'm reading a book professor and it says here that 00:09:34.76\00:09:37.69 in this super nova eruption are created all the elements 00:09:37.72\00:09:41.45 necessary for life including oxygen. And I said, professor 00:09:41.48\00:09:45.46 most all science would agree that when you think life arose 00:09:45.49\00:09:48.77 one earth there was no oxygen here, a reducing atmosphere. 00:09:48.81\00:09:51.55 We can't have oxygen. It would oxidize the elements we're 00:09:51.58\00:09:54.10 trying to produce life with. Miller and Nary were trying to 00:09:54.13\00:09:56.58 do that. We're going to get to that in another program. I said 00:09:56.62\00:09:58.95 professor so here they're saying all the elements that are 00:09:58.98\00:10:01.24 necessary for life in super nova eruptions including oxygen yet 00:10:01.28\00:10:04.28 most scientists say life arose on earth with no oxygen. 00:10:04.31\00:10:07.08 Professor, when you get that first living cell what do you 00:10:07.12\00:10:09.82 need; copious amounts of oxygen. And he didn't like that. And he 00:10:09.86\00:10:15.23 says well you just got to stop reading those writings. 00:10:15.26\00:10:17.98 So he didn't have any response, any scientific response. 00:10:18.01\00:10:20.66 He didn't have any response and I think there was about one more 00:10:20.70\00:10:23.86 that I said. Norwood is a noted astrophysicist and Mr. Norwood 00:10:23.90\00:10:29.20 says in his article in his book that we have in our Milky Way 00:10:29.24\00:10:33.86 galaxy a hundred billion stars and we have at least another 00:10:33.89\00:10:38.48 hundred billion galaxies... 00:10:38.51\00:10:41.76 What's a hundred billion times a hundred billion? 00:10:41.80\00:10:43.44 The silent embarrassment to astrophysicists is they cannot 00:10:43.48\00:10:47.26 tell you how even one star formed. I said, professor, can 00:10:47.29\00:10:51.11 you tell me how our sun was formed. Well at this point he 00:10:51.15\00:10:55.37 just started talking over me. I mean, he was trying to sell a 00:10:55.40\00:10:59.59 book, right? And I wasn't helping his sales of his book. 00:10:59.62\00:11:01.12 Good for you. 00:11:01.15\00:11:03.75 I mean, this is Clear Channel, this was KOA, this was nation 00:11:03.79\00:11:06.44 wide, truckers in the middle of the night are driving and I was 00:11:06.47\00:11:10.63 just happy that we were able to challenge some of the garbage 00:11:10.67\00:11:14.80 that's being presented there. So we want science for our 00:11:15.08\00:11:17.42 kids. In 1984 they came out with a new theory of how the moon 00:11:17.46\00:11:21.59 formed. They don't have the first clue of how the moon 00:11:21.62\00:11:23.78 formed. I mean they've got a number of theories and ideas 00:11:23.81\00:11:25.90 about it. So in 1984 we had a new theory getting attention and 00:11:25.94\00:11:32.32 this is an article from Planetary Science Research 00:11:32.35\00:11:34.52 that says the cloud from which the solar system, that's the 00:11:34.56\00:11:37.42 sun's system, formed was composed of gas and gas somehow, 00:11:37.46\00:11:41.84 can we test somehow, we don't know how, somehow, that dusty 00:11:41.87\00:11:45.61 cloud the sun formed in the center of the planets which all 00:11:45.64\00:11:48.78 formed around it, somehow. Can we test that? No we can't. 00:11:48.81\00:11:51.58 We can't test that. But we want to be able... we want solid 00:11:51.61\00:11:54.35 science. Someone told me once, a man who 00:11:54.38\00:11:58.06 was in the book business, he sold books to schools I mean 00:11:58.10\00:12:03.91 and he said that the books that were the most quickly outdated 00:12:03.95\00:12:08.31 are science books. Is that true? 00:12:08.34\00:12:10.43 I think that's probably true, yeah. I'll just share a couple 00:12:10.47\00:12:15.99 quotations with you. This was in U.S. News and Promater was a 00:12:16.02\00:12:19.92 famous astrophysicist and he says the universe is extremely 00:12:19.95\00:12:23.72 complicated and each new item of information we get only shows 00:12:23.76\00:12:27.92 us who much we don't know. We want the latest science but we 00:12:27.96\00:12:31.26 don't know. New things are coming out every day. I think 00:12:31.30\00:12:34.53 the chances that any one of the ideas that are around today are 00:12:34.57\00:12:38.55 slim. See this is a famous Berkley astrophysicist who says 00:12:38.58\00:12:42.16 the chances of any one idea I think are true. We're going to 00:12:42.19\00:12:45.23 probably find out they're wrong. And the big issue over dark 00:12:45.26\00:12:48.03 energy, I know our time is moving along, This is again from 00:12:48.06\00:12:51.63 Promater and he says dark energy is something we have no clue 00:12:51.66\00:12:55.22 as to what's causing it and it doesn't fit any of our current 00:12:55.26\00:12:58.56 physics theories and they have to develop new approaches to 00:12:58.60\00:13:02.58 explain it and so forth. By looking you see at the galaxies 00:13:02.61\00:13:05.97 gravity affects everything in the universe and when they look 00:13:06.00\00:13:09.06 at the density of the galaxies and the rotation of the galaxies 00:13:09.10\00:13:12.03 and they say in order to make this whole thing work there's 00:13:12.07\00:13:15.27 something missing. You know 96 percent of the universe is 00:13:15.31\00:13:17.92 unknowable. We cannot see. There's only about four percent 00:13:17.96\00:13:20.54 they believe. When I read these scientific 00:13:20.57\00:13:24.86 and I know really very little about astronomy, but I do read 00:13:24.90\00:13:28.92 articles, I read scientific journals. For example among 00:13:28.95\00:13:33.80 geologists, we kind of have a tendency to think that geology 00:13:33.84\00:13:38.16 is a science that can be proven and yet geologists, it's all 00:13:38.19\00:13:42.66 theories and there's fighting among themselves which theory 00:13:42.69\00:13:47.17 is correct. For example take carbon dating. Most people 00:13:47.20\00:13:51.61 accept that as something that is a scientific, provable fact 00:13:51.65\00:13:56.28 yet it is a theory. You now when you look at between something 00:13:56.32\00:14:00.42 like that, what goes on with astronomy and the advances that 00:14:00.45\00:14:04.76 we've made... You were showing me the straw, you had that 00:14:04.80\00:14:09.04 straw in your pocket, the straw where you look through and just 00:14:09.08\00:14:12.68 see the little speck, explain that to me for a second because 00:14:12.72\00:14:16.29 that's amazing. Well we'll maybe do another 00:14:16.32\00:14:18.42 program. You know I always like the straw; seems to really get 00:14:18.46\00:14:22.50 people's attention because I ask them do you think you can see 00:14:22.54\00:14:25.48 one star through this little stir stick because people think 00:14:25.51\00:14:28.42 a telescope gets these big pictures of the heavens and 00:14:28.45\00:14:30.78 actually we look at the tiniest little speck. The Hubble looks 00:14:30.82\00:14:34.63 for 10 days back in 19951/25th of one degree of the sky and 00:14:34.66\00:14:38.40 they photographed 3000 galaxies through that little speck of the 00:14:38.44\00:14:41.99 sky. How many? Three thousand galaxies. Three thousand 00:14:42.02\00:14:47.30 galaxies through that one little tiny speck and if you were to 00:14:47.34\00:14:51.92 look at that, how many specks times...? 00:14:51.95\00:14:54.55 You mean how many pictures would I have to take? 00:14:54.59\00:14:56.28 Yeah, how many pictures? 00:14:56.31\00:14:57.34 To take pictures of the whole sky well we've got a real 00:14:57.37\00:14:59.15 problem because today the sun is covering up a bazillion galaxies 00:14:59.19\00:15:02.14 out there because behind the sun is all illuminated in the sky 00:15:02.18\00:15:04.72 and I can't see that part of the sky because the sun is there 00:15:04.75\00:15:07.30 but in six months we'll be on the other side of the sun. Now 00:15:07.33\00:15:09.85 we can see the rest of the universe. We'd have to go to 00:15:09.88\00:15:12.32 Australia too to get the rest of the galaxies. It would be 00:15:12.36\00:15:15.29 27 million pictures through here to cover the whole sky. 00:15:15.33\00:15:18.23 Times at least 3000. Twenty-five thousand. 00:15:18.26\00:15:20.53 Twenty-five thousand galaxies times 100 billion stars so we're 00:15:20.57\00:15:26.73 talking about numbers that none of us could comprehend. 00:15:26.76\00:15:29.84 His ways are as high as the heavens are above the earth. 00:15:29.87\00:15:32.80 Are my ways above your ways as high as the heavens are above 00:15:32.83\00:15:35.63 the earth. Are my thought above your thoughts. My ways are not 00:15:35.66\00:15:38.43 your ways. Because I think sometimes man 00:15:38.46\00:15:42.32 thinks we are so important and you think about what the 00:15:42.36\00:15:45.00 psalmist David said. You know, what is man that you are mindful 00:15:45.04\00:15:49.35 of him? When you think of all the glory of God in all of his 00:15:49.39\00:15:53.77 creation and here on this tiny little speck called earth we're 00:15:53.81\00:15:58.16 these little tiny little specks called man. It's amazing. 00:15:58.19\00:16:01.91 That's Psalm 8, what is man that you are mindful of him. 00:16:01.95\00:16:05.60 And Jesus left that. We're going to have to make this into two 00:16:05.64\00:16:10.13 programs Shelley because... You know Jesus left the glory of 00:16:10.16\00:16:14.14 heaven and the worship of the angels. They're now discovering 00:16:14.18\00:16:18.47 that... They've been looking at a star, HT97048 as a Nova star. 00:16:18.51\00:16:21.98 Scientists have been studying that and they have discovered 00:16:22.01\00:16:25.41 precious diamonds and rubies and gems and sapphires in space and 00:16:25.45\00:16:29.57 and the article says that in this star they have discovered 00:16:29.60\00:16:32.56 there are 100,000 to one million trillion tons of 00:16:32.59\00:16:36.29 diamonds. How do they know that though? 00:16:36.32\00:16:38.43 Well because they look at the carbon, the temperature, the 00:16:38.47\00:16:42.46 pressure and diamonds have a lot of carbon present, the 00:16:42.49\00:16:46.06 the temperature there and so forth. Well what's interesting 00:16:46.10\00:16:50.00 the Bible says that though he was rich yet for our sakes he 00:16:50.04\00:16:54.41 became poor that we through his poverty might become rich. Goes 00:16:54.44\00:16:58.56 right along with priceless gems in space. There's even more but 00:16:58.59\00:17:01.98 I don't have it in front of me. But things have been discovered. 00:17:02.01\00:17:05.37 Lawrence Livermore University has been looking at the sun. 00:17:05.40\00:17:09.02 This was announced in 1987 and it was repeated again more 00:17:09.05\00:17:13.77 recently and they said that every element on earth is 00:17:13.80\00:17:18.45 present on the sun. They could see every element on earth is 00:17:18.49\00:17:21.89 present in the sun. And they have discovered that the sun 00:17:21.93\00:17:26.39 has enough gold to pay the United States national debt five 00:17:26.43\00:17:30.52 hundred million times over. That's amazing. And they've been 00:17:30.56\00:17:34.62 looking at... Of course to mine that gold 00:17:34.65\00:17:36.47 would be our death knell wouldn't it? 00:17:36.50\00:17:38.90 Without the sun we wouldn't even survive. 00:17:38.93\00:17:41.26 But they've been looking at Uranus and Neptune and they say 00:17:41.30\00:17:44.52 the carbon, the temperature and the pressure on those two 00:17:44.87\00:17:47.29 planets, Lawrence Livermore University you remember, and 00:17:47.32\00:17:50.78 they say that there may be 30 percent diamonds on those 00:17:50.81\00:17:54.24 planets, Uranus and Neptune. 00:17:54.27\00:17:55.85 But the whole point of where we're starting, and I'd love for 00:17:55.89\00:17:59.23 you to come back so let's make this two programs, but the whole 00:17:59.26\00:18:02.92 point that we're making today is that here you've got people 00:18:02.96\00:18:07.59 parents crying, we want science for our children, and yet 00:18:07.63\00:18:11.63 science is the one thing that cannot be proven because I mean 00:18:11.67\00:18:15.09 it keeps changing. What they think they're proving changes 00:18:15.13\00:18:18.48 from decade to decade, sometimes year to year, I guess. Whereas 00:18:18.52\00:18:24.49 sometime scientific discoveries actually come in and support 00:18:24.52\00:18:29.63 what the Bible says. Is that not true? Just like archeologists 00:18:29.66\00:18:34.74 who used to say oh we can't find that and now the more we 00:18:34.77\00:18:37.15 discover of archeology there they are. 00:18:37.18\00:18:41.04 Well, yes, you know we have to respect some of what's being 00:18:41.08\00:18:46.60 done. I mean we sent the Cassini space craft to Saturn, a billion 00:18:46.64\00:18:51.41 miles away. But the problem is I think that the universe is so 00:18:51.44\00:18:55.50 big and so far away and we have all these theories about the 00:18:55.54\00:18:59.73 universe. The Cassini is an incredible space craft. It's 00:18:59.77\00:19:03.52 like a school bus. It weighs 12 tons. We don't have a big 00:19:03.55\00:19:06.85 enough rocket to get that a billion miles away to Saturn. 00:19:06.89\00:19:10.12 So what did they do. They shoot it off to Venus. Now it's headed 00:19:10.16\00:19:13.08 towards Venus like a sling shot. It's falling towards Venus and 00:19:13.11\00:19:15.56 gravity of Venus is pulling. But it misses Venus. Like a sling 00:19:15.60\00:19:18.09 shot it picks up speed around Venus, then they shoot it back 00:19:18.13\00:19:20.99 to earth. Now Venus is doing 70,000 miles around the sun, 00:19:21.02\00:19:23.81 earth is doing 66,000 miles. And they aim it back toward earth. 00:19:23.85\00:19:26.92 Now it's falling towards earth but like a sling shot it picks 00:19:26.95\00:19:30.29 up speed back to Venus again picking up speed off to Jupiter 00:19:30.32\00:19:33.63 a half a billion miles away. 00:19:33.66\00:19:35.23 You mean we've achieved this? 00:19:35.27\00:19:36.94 They've achieved this, yes. 00:19:36.97\00:19:38.57 Isn't that amazing what man has achieved. 00:19:38.61\00:19:40.34 Yes and then to Saturn. It takes seven years to get to Saturn 00:19:40.38\00:19:43.40 that's a billion miles away. They fly it through the F and 00:19:43.43\00:19:46.66 and the G rings. They've got a 2500 mile window and they 00:19:46.70\00:19:49.54 fly it there. They reverse it and fire the rockets 96 hours. 00:19:49.57\00:19:54.65 Now it's in orbit about Saturn. OK. So you have to say the God 00:19:54.68\00:19:59.73 who made the laws that they follow. I mean you think of 00:19:59.76\00:20:02.14 just hitting Venus. I mean the earth is doing 66, Venus is 00:20:02.17\00:20:04.72 doing 70,000 miles an hour and we're going to fire our rocket 00:20:04.76\00:20:07.16 on a moving space craft. We're going to hit this one and go 00:20:07.20\00:20:10.10 around there right, you know. It is incredible. It's amazing 00:20:10.13\00:20:12.96 what they've done. So we do need to respect solid science. In the 00:20:13.00\00:20:19.00 process we saved 75 tons of rocket fuel by using gravity 00:20:19.03\00:20:22.72 assist, using the gravity of Venus and earth and Venus and 00:20:22.75\00:20:26.36 Jupiter. We saved 75 tons of rocket fuel because we don't 00:20:26.39\00:20:29.13 have a big enough rocket. I don't know if the Russians have 00:20:29.17\00:20:31.60 a big enough rocket. We don't anyway have a big enough rocket 00:20:31.64\00:20:34.74 to shoot a school bus that far away. So that's incredible stuff 00:20:34.77\00:20:37.84 you know. That is just incredible. How are we doing on 00:20:37.87\00:20:41.56 time? We've got seven minutes left. 00:20:41.59\00:20:42.62 Yes we have a few minutes left if you want to bring something 00:20:42.65\00:20:45.62 else up here. Well again the cry is we want 00:20:45.65\00:20:51.28 science for our kids. The Big Bang cannot answer six profound 00:20:51.32\00:20:53.96 questions. This was in an article in Scientific American 00:20:53.99\00:20:59.24 last year, 2007. They came out with a special feature on the 00:20:59.27\00:21:03.71 of the universe the origin of the universe. So it says in here 00:21:03.74\00:21:07.16 in one of these articles, there are six profound question that 00:21:07.19\00:21:09.98 cannot be answered. The other magazine said five, now we got 00:21:10.01\00:21:13.09 up to six; we're making progress here. Ten years ago we had five 00:21:13.12\00:21:17.94 things but now we've got six. It says in this article the Big 00:21:17.98\00:21:22.85 Bang offers no explanation for this apart from dumb luck. 00:21:22.89\00:21:27.54 I heard someone say it would be like taking a junk yard, 00:21:27.57\00:21:32.15 throwing in a stick of dynamite and thinking that explosion, a 00:21:32.19\00:21:36.18 B-47 designed would be coming out of that. 00:21:36.21\00:21:39.93 Yeah, I think it was Francis Crick that said that evolution 00:21:39.97\00:21:43.65 is like a tornado going through a junk yard and producing a 747. 00:21:43.69\00:21:47.82 You know. The chances, what's the chances of that happening? 00:21:47.86\00:21:52.26 So not here they're saying that the Big Bang cannot explain the 00:21:52.30\00:21:56.30 universe apart from dumb luck. So make a little bit of fun of 00:21:56.33\00:22:00.01 that the kids in school go okay today I want your attention kids 00:22:00.04\00:22:03.69 because today we're going to give you the latest science. 00:22:03.72\00:22:07.02 I'm going to teach you about dumb luck. This is not the first 00:22:07.05\00:22:10.78 time I've read dumb luck. In US News this is at least three 00:22:10.82\00:22:14.59 times I have read where they said you know this is just like 00:22:14.62\00:22:18.36 dumb luck. You know I've read a couple of 00:22:18.39\00:22:21.61 articles and even a book by an atheist who is a scientist and I 00:22:21.65\00:22:26.14 forget his name actually but he was saying that the reason he 00:22:26.17\00:22:30.63 couldn't support certain theories was because that 00:22:30.66\00:22:34.50 would support God. He said I can't prove what I believe but I 00:22:34.54\00:22:38.27 will not support the other because what you're saying 00:22:38.30\00:22:41.69 supports what the Bible says. So there are people out there with 00:22:41.73\00:22:45.66 an agenda as well. We've got to remember that. 00:22:45.69\00:22:47.87 Absolutely, absolutely. I could have brought along a lot of 00:22:47.91\00:22:53.09 things along that line but they're not even bashful about 00:22:53.12\00:22:58.23 admitting it goes against our sexual mores, we can't appeal to 00:22:58.27\00:23:04.64 a miracle. They can't have a miracle. We want solid science. 00:23:04.67\00:23:11.31 So I mentioned before that 96 percent of the universe we can't 00:23:11.35\00:23:17.96 see. It's dark matter. It's unknowable; 96 percent of the 00:23:17.99\00:23:21.85 universe is unknowable. And yet the Bible says in Colossians 2 00:23:21.89\00:23:24.98 verse 3 in him are hid all the treasures of wisdom and 00:23:25.01\00:23:27.27 knowledge. His ways are past finding out. Job 9:9, God's ways 00:23:27.31\00:23:32.52 are past finding out. When you think about people who 00:23:32.55\00:23:38.98 are supporting the Big Bang theory in evolution having five 00:23:39.02\00:23:42.01 major questions a number of years ago that they could not 00:23:42.04\00:23:44.93 agree on, that they couldn't find any solution, and instead 00:23:44.97\00:23:48.79 of reducing it now there's six. So if we had to take away 00:23:48.82\00:23:51.75 because we only have a couple more minutes and I know you 00:23:51.79\00:23:54.65 could quote for quite some time here. We'll pick up on some of 00:23:54.69\00:23:57.81 this that you didn't get in here but if you had a take away 00:23:57.85\00:24:01.56 today what do you say to someone out here who isn't sure that 00:24:01.60\00:24:05.28 they can swallow the idea of a creator God? 00:24:05.31\00:24:12.76 First I'd actually like to promote something, a website. 00:24:12.80\00:24:16.09 There's a dissent from Darwin and this is scientists. They're 00:24:16.13\00:24:20.95 looking for people who would sign their name to a simple 00:24:20.98\00:24:25.84 statement that we don't put any belief or we have serious 00:24:25.87\00:24:30.22 questions about Darwinian evolution. And they have over 00:24:30.26\00:24:34.58 700 scientists now that have signed on. 00:24:34.61\00:24:36.30 These are Ph. D. types. 00:24:36.33\00:24:37.61 These are Ph. D. type scientific people who have signed on and 00:24:37.65\00:24:41.33 they're looking for more. It simply, I think, strengthens our 00:24:41.37\00:24:44.59 case because they say well scientists don't believe this, 00:24:44.62\00:24:48.64 scientists don't believe in evolution. So it's dissent from 00:24:48.67\00:24:52.16 Darwin and you just put your name on a simple signature there 00:24:52.20\00:24:55.66 So that's good. But you're asking what would you say to 00:24:55.69\00:24:59.94 people. Well I think Jeremiah is a good example. Jeremiah 33:22: 00:24:59.98\00:25:07.31 Jeremiah said the stars are like the sands of the seashore, 00:25:07.34\00:25:10.66 innumerable. Like you cannot count the sands of the seashore 00:25:10.70\00:25:13.87 you cannot count the stars of heaven. Well you know that was 00:25:13.91\00:25:16.85 3000 years ago. Scientists are quoting Jeremiah. I've read it 00:25:16.89\00:25:19.80 more than once. Now wait. Three thousand years 00:25:19.83\00:25:22.23 ago they're going they thought that they had counted all the 00:25:22.27\00:25:25.33 stars in the sky didn't they? 00:25:25.36\00:25:26.74 Put Jeremiah in a mental institution. Jeremiah don't you 00:25:26.78\00:25:29.59 read Guinness book where we counted the stars. Don't you 00:25:29.62\00:25:33.82 keep up with science. We know there's 5116 stars in the sky. 00:25:33.85\00:25:37.07 Jeremiah you say like sands of the seashore. Put this guy away 00:25:37.10\00:25:40.14 right? Well scientists today are saying exactly what Jeremiah 00:25:40.18\00:25:43.19 said 3000 years about. Scientists today, and I've read 00:25:43.22\00:25:45.66 it more than once, say they believe that the total number of 00:25:45.70\00:25:49.28 sands on planet earth are roughly 70 sextillion which 00:25:49.31\00:25:53.42 would be like 70 time 10 to the 22nd power. And scientists say 00:25:53.46\00:25:58.86 we think that this is roughly the stars in the known universe. 00:25:58.90\00:26:02.90 This is roughly equivalent to the stars in the known universe. 00:26:02.93\00:26:06.90 This was what Jeremiah said 3000 years ago. What we're 00:26:06.93\00:26:09.19 going to have to do in the next program is show statement after 00:26:09.23\00:26:12.76 statement in the Bible you know that are scientifically accurate 00:26:12.79\00:26:16.29 But actually I see we didn't get even done with showing the 00:26:16.32\00:26:20.12 problems. I have book, 900 pages it's not even written by a 00:26:20.16\00:26:23.99 Christian. The title is Forbidden Archeology and it's 00:26:24.02\00:26:28.37 900 pages and it shows newspaper clippings from the 1700s and 00:26:28.40\00:26:33.05 1800s and documenting... A lot of it has to do with coal mines. 00:26:33.08\00:26:36.99 There'll be an article in Pennsylvania in that coal mine 00:26:37.02\00:26:40.19 they dug up a chunk of coal today and there was a gold chain 00:26:40.22\00:26:43.37 inside or there was a hammer inside. They broke apart the coal and out... You 00:26:43.40\00:26:46.32 know here's the imprint of a hammer and what does evolution 00:26:46.36\00:26:49.77 say this was 300 million years ago this coal was made and 00:26:49.80\00:26:53.46 man didn't start melting metal till 3300 years B.C. you know. 00:26:53.50\00:26:57.13 So the bottom line is we're nearly out of time but we're 00:26:57.16\00:27:01.97 going to come back here. The bottom line is if someone has 00:27:02.00\00:27:06.73 not tested the Bible for them self or tested God we want 00:27:06.77\00:27:10.52 to encourage you to do that. All right? Yes that's right. 00:27:10.56\00:27:13.75 I'm so thankful that you have joined us. You know what? It's 00:27:13.79\00:27:16.85 too bad you don't have a little bit of enthusiasm for your topic 00:27:16.88\00:27:19.91 I love it because you just get so excited and you're so 00:27:19.94\00:27:23.58 passionate about this, but thank you so much. 00:27:23.61\00:27:26.27 Well it's exciting stuff you know. How can you not be? 00:27:26.31\00:27:29.72 Amen, amen. We're going to pick right up and you're going to 00:27:29.76\00:27:32.93 come back and we're going to do this again. And then for those 00:27:32.97\00:27:36.50 at home if you don't have complete confidence in the Bible 00:27:36.53\00:27:40.07 yet we hope that by the time you see the next program you'll 00:27:40.10\00:27:43.40 see that there is a creator God. He has a plan for your life and 00:27:43.43\00:27:46.40 it's better than the one you're living. I can tell you. I know 00:27:46.43\00:27:49.37 it's still better than the one I'm living. Thank you so much 00:27:49.40\00:27:52.31 for joining us. We'll see you again. 00:27:52.34\00:27:54.20
