about this in 1 Peter 1:13.

He says, "Brace up
your minds, be sober,

set your hope unchangeably

on the grace
that is coming to you

when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Live as children
of obedience to God,

do not conform

sometimes that scares us

this idea of holiness

that when God commands us

out on yourself on you own.

So let's just tell our audience
what we are talking about.

Okay, Shelley, with the
all the different people

that I interact with

its just really easy
to pick on the fact that--
00:03:20.45\00:03:24.16
we have a lot of people
00:03:24.19\00:03:25.31
they think they have
to be people pleasers.
00:03:25.34\00:03:28.68
And matter of fact
there is a promise for that
00:03:28.71\00:03:31.19
I will share in just a minute.
00:03:31.22\00:03:32.93
But, it's a little
disconcerting people
00:03:32.96\00:03:37.18
that people feel like they
have to be one way one place
00:03:37.21\00:03:40.45
and another way another place
00:03:40.48\00:03:42.88
I kind of call it
the chameleon effect
00:03:42.91\00:03:45.82
that whoever they are
with, that's who they are.
00:03:45.85\00:03:48.82
If they were with
this particular person
00:03:48.85\00:03:50.36
they like these things or
they will go do these things
00:03:50.39\00:03:53.91
or they will eat these
things or act this way,
00:03:53.94\00:03:56.53
or use a particular language.

And with other people
they are little more dignified

or they are
little more spiritual.

And so who are they really?

You know, I wonder if
they know who they really are

because they change colors
with whoever they are with.

To me as I as I
hear their stories,

as I hear their heartaches,

I can't help but think of
their promise in Galatians 1:10

when I give that
promise back to God.

I say, Father, help me
not to be a people pleaser

but a servant of
the living God. Exactly.
00:04:31.07\00:04:33.92
And if we are busy

trying to get people
to give us an endorsement
00:04:36.35\00:04:40.19
on how we are
with them all the time

then we are living for people,
we are not living for Jesus.

And that's, I
think when you agree
00:04:45.35\00:04:47.45
that the reason
most people do this
00:04:47.48\00:04:49.14
because they really don't know
00:04:49.17\00:04:50.20
who they are in
Christ Jesus. Absolutely.

They don't have
that sense of identity
00:04:52.46\00:04:55.35
of being His child as,
00:04:55.38\00:04:57.66
you know, daughter or son of God
00:04:57.69\00:05:00.06
and so what they do
often is they compromise.

And again I think, you know,
always I have noticing lately
00:05:03.75\00:05:07.36
the Lord showed me
something many years ago
00:05:07.39\00:05:09.44
and I used to teach on it
00:05:09.47\00:05:10.71
and I haven't
thought about it lately
00:05:10.74\00:05:12.65
but that there is
either we are rooted
00:05:12.68\00:05:15.71
and grounded in the love of God
00:05:15.74\00:05:17.25
and that's our tap root
00:05:17.28\00:05:18.60
from which all the
rest of these roots go

or we are rooted and
grounded in insecurity
00:05:20.97\00:05:24.55
and out of this insecurity

actually prides even
a form of insecurity.

So, its people who are insecure

that they feel
that they have to be

they want people to like them,

they don't want
anyone to dislike them

so, they just as you
said become people pleasers.

I would like to
talk in a few minutes

a little more about
who we are in Christ.

But, I would like to,

to look at a little
different prospective as well

about this consistency issue
00:05:50.66\00:05:52.88
because its not only a
matter of the chameleon effect,

its a matter of people
that are one thing at home
00:05:57.14\00:06:01.01
and they are another thing
00:06:01.04\00:06:02.35
once they just
walk outside the door.
00:06:02.38\00:06:04.62
And this is really distressing
00:06:04.65\00:06:06.67
and this causes a
lot of marital conflict.

This is the kind of
thing that causes our children
00:06:09.76\00:06:12.90
to walk out the door
and never want to come back.

It's thing that cause children
not to want to go to church.

Exactly, exactly.

So we have people that
when they are out in the world

they are wonderful.
Everybody loves them.

They would do
anything for anybody

and they are
pleasant and they are patience
00:06:30.20\00:06:34.19
and they come home
and then what happens,

they are abusive to their spouse
00:06:38.27\00:06:41.22
verbally not
even being physically.

But they are
whole different person.
00:06:44.04\00:06:46.63
They can't be
bothered with the children,

they are critical and condemning
00:06:48.83\00:06:50.27
of everything that
happens in the house
00:06:50.30\00:06:52.58
or they come home
and they are queen
00:06:52.61\00:06:54.75
or the king and expect
to be weighted on there.

They certainly
don't lift a figure there
00:06:57.73\00:06:59.56
they are busy
helping everyone else

and getting kudos for it.

You know, those
are the kinds of things

that are so distressing to me

that give our children
particularly this mixed message.

And these are kind of a things

that happen far too
often and that's it.

Yes, yes and sometimes
from our spiritual leaders

that are suppose to be
consistent and good examples.

But sometimes I say this,

and I don't mean
any offence to anyone
00:07:23.17\00:07:25.48
but I believe that
some people choose ministry
00:07:25.51\00:07:29.67
as a carrier path rather
than as a calling from the Lord,
00:07:29.70\00:07:33.08
and there are--just because
someone is standing in a pulpit
00:07:33.11\00:07:35.92
doesn't mean that they
have a converted heart.
00:07:35.95\00:07:38.11
That's right.
00:07:38.14\00:07:39.43
You know our homes, our homes
should be our sanctuary. Amen.

And it's true that when
we go out into the world

we want to our
best foot right forward.

You know, but we--
00:07:48.58\00:07:50.48
we are to cherish
the people on our home.

And to me, we are to
be even better there.

Not that we can't
let our hair down,

I don't mean that

but we need to be who
we are wherever we are.

That kind of goes back to

I think I have talked
to you about it before,

I don't know whether I

But how we get in
this right sometimes

and we put on these
mask when we go out the door

and we try to be
someone who are not.

Until the older we get
the more form fitting that is

so, are we
becoming like the mask

or is the mask becoming like us.

That's a good point.

So, my point is,

you know, we just need
to know who we are in Jesus.

We need to be able
to not only embrace

who we are in Jesus

but embrace who
He made us to be.

I like to say Lord,
fulfill your destiny for me,

in me and through me.

Don't I don't want to
worry about being someone else
00:08:45.44\00:08:48.04
or doing what some
else is chosen to do
00:08:48.07\00:08:51.00
but with all the gifts
and talent you have given me,

I'm not help me to be
00:08:53.45\00:08:55.48
way you want me
to be for you. Amen.

And when you surrender that,

when you ask Jesus
to do that for you,

fulfill His purpose for you,

you a sense of peace.

You are not striving
to become someone else.

yourself against someone else.

You are not frustrated with life

and having to be
one person in one place

and one person in another place.

It isn't-- it isn't an issue.

that to actually attain peace

to be filled with peace

is something
that they never known

and that they would
give any amount of money

that they have been able
to accumulate to achieve.

Peace is something that

it's difficult to live
a happy life without it.

But, when we have peace

we can be an inspiration
almost anywhere we are.

When we have peace,

opt to treat each other

to tell you a couple of stories,

you know, I am

while I'm with you.

But how we are
and the consistency

in our Christianity is a witness
and it's a silent witness

or it can be a very,
very picturesque witness.

For example, we had a
pastor in our community
00:10:40.96\00:10:44.86
who everyone
respected in the pulpit
00:10:44.89\00:10:49.40
but he had a really
difficult personal life
00:10:49.43\00:10:52.22
and wasn't very
good to his family.
00:10:52.25\00:10:54.29
But that not only
was with the family
00:10:54.32\00:10:56.12
its build over the community,
00:10:56.15\00:10:57.61
when he would walk into the bank
00:10:57.64\00:10:59.25
and there would be a--
an error in his account
00:10:59.28\00:11:02.63
and he would
verbally trash the tellers.

Now what kind of a
witness is that for our Lord?

Or think of the person

that has the sign on
the back of their car,

that says, live for Jesus

and then their
honking their horn
00:11:18.74\00:11:20.84
and they are telling
off the other drivers
00:11:20.87\00:11:22.83
and this a true story of
a man that was doing this
00:11:22.86\00:11:26.64
and cursing out a lady and
the officer called him over,
00:11:26.67\00:11:31.22
handcuffed him and
pulled him in to jail.
00:11:31.25\00:11:34.67
Because he thought he has
stolen the car that he had
00:11:34.70\00:11:37.77
because it said
living for Jesus.
00:11:37.80\00:11:40.19
His actions were so-- so
conflicting with the message
00:11:40.22\00:11:44.70
that he was giving.
00:11:44.73\00:11:45.85
Hope that was a
wake-up call for him.

I hope it was a
wake-up call for him as well.

So I think that we
just sometimes forget

that we are observed
and how we are living life.

I recently was
speaking in New Jersey,

and I want to say
hello to all of my brothers

And it was such a blessing to me

and I'm not tooting my own horn

but this was in area in which

they very few
people receive 3ABN

but they were
looking for woman speaker

and they had someone new--

someone who worked here
at 3ABN not any ministration.

And they said, do you
know any good women speakers?

And when they--
he shared my name.

And he said--they said
well, what does she like?

And he said well
let me put it this way.

She walks the talk,

she walks out what she
preaches. Oh, praise Lord.

And when she-- I
didn't know this story

till she introduced me

and I thought oh, Lord
Jesus, thank you, so much

because there is not a
higher compliment than that.

That's true and we never know,

who knows what about is.

In fact that just makes
me to think of another story.

I had--recently had
a friend that came over

and she walks her
dog on my property.

And she was walking her dog

it scared a deer
out from under the deck

and broke
through the ladders work

and she came to the
down she said, I'm sorry

but we have frighten this.

I think this deer
has a broken neck.

And I went outside to check,

the deer was
down in the back hill

and I have this
thing I do Shelley,

that when a
little animal is hurt,

I seem Jesus loves me,

because I believe that
they know the name of Jesus.

And usually if a little bird
is hurt they calm right down.

Well, the deer was too
frightened to calm down.

But, the little
deer had fallen over

and she had
just-- she had tumbled,

her legs were up in the air

and she was there,
she was broken neck,

she couldn't lift her
head when I came to meet her.

It was a broken neck.

And just all of this air

she was hissing
at me and scared.

Couldn't me to protect herself
and so I finally went away.

Well, it looked to me like

we were gonna
have shoot the deer

so she didn't suffer.

So I called the
sheriffs department

and waited and waited and
waited for them to come out.

And after several hours
I called and said you know,

And they said oh,

Oh, yeah, they came out

and went over to the
deer and the deer ran away.

And I said, you know, I didn't
even tell where the deer was.

gone to the wrong place.

You know, the deer is
down, clear down in my back hill

and he said no I
think they were there.

And I said, you

Well, sure
enough the deer was gone

and this was
like three hours later

and that deer had been there
and we knew it could not move.

So I called the sheriff back
and I said okay, I don't know

but the deer is gone.

So, you know, our reputation

And we really need to be careful

how we live life
especially if we love Jesus

who we are and the
way we are consistent

So who are we in Christ?

Every thing He says we are.

We can walk in the authority

of the heirs of

And scripture says in Galatians,

"So you are no longer a slave,

since you are a son,

If we are heirs, if
Jesus has been given

all authority
