therefore now no condemnation

for those who
are in Christ Jesus,

who don't walk according
to the dictates of the flesh

but according to the
dictates of the Spirit."

Now, is there
condemnation nation

But what we are gonna
be talking about today

is this guilt that
people cannot get rid off

and there are lot of
people suffering from that.

Absolutely, because guilt
you know and it's amazing.

Guilt isn't even talk about much

even in the realm of psychology

or especially
spirituality where it should be

really advent
of what's going on.

And what so
damaging about guilt is,

it ruins the
emotionally and intellectually.

I mean many suicides,

I mean
psychologists will tell us,

many suicides have caused
because people can't resolve

the pressure put on by
guilt and nagging awareness

that have done something wrong.

It also affects you spiritually.

Obviously if guilt
keeps getting you down

it's gonna drive you to legalism

because if you
can't resolve the guilt's

if you don't feel
like you are forgiven

then you have to
adopt some sort of a system

where I can keep
score as to what I am doing

to try to get rid of that guilt.

So its one of the
major, major things that drive

people to legalism.

And you know there is
another thing too that guilt

I used to tell people, if
I feel guilty around someone,

for example let's say that

you have been trying
to contact me for a week

and I haven't
returned your phone call.

Now I bump into you
in the grocery store.

You don't see me but I see you

and I heading down the one way

and you are coming near
that I look up and I see you

and you are
looking at something.

What am I gonna do? Split.

I am gonna try to
avoid you if I can

because I am thinking I
don't want this confrontation.

that we have the emotional,

spiritual, and the physical.

where they measure your immunity

high levels of guilt

but then guilt causes stress

which also destroys your health.

destroy you physically,

emotionally, spiritually.

The next day, I would
wake up and its still there.

and we are just
haunt, haunt, haunt.

And then after a
while, because you can't

get rid of that guilt
you tend to think that okay,

I don't have enough faith

or may be God is using
this as punishment for me,

may be the angels are
pounding me over the head

or its through my concisions
or whatever with this guilt.

And so you begin to think
well, I really deserve this.

And before long
your whole concept of God

that is to change.

And then legalism
starts to come because,

because you need to some
how keep score of the goods

and bad's that you do.

then you can resolve this guilt.

But this is all a
trap of Satan. Amen.

The Bible says that there is a--

God brings us to a
godly sorrow. Yes, absolutely.

And godly sorrow
brings repentance,

worldly sorrow
brings death. Absolutely.

And so, this godly sorrow
when the Lord is leading us,

it's a whole
different thing to--

instead of guilt lets say there
is a conviction of your sin.

When it's a godly
sorrow it's where you know

the part of this Holy Spirit.

I mean you have that realization

The kind of guilt
that we are talking about

time to have godly sorrow

is that unearned guilt.

nagging of that's hanging on.

Okay, this is a good point.
So, God does give us a guilt.

guilt by remorse.

What is remorse?

Remorse is when we hurt someone

that we have is hurt too.

And so when it comes to guilt,

there is a guilt that God allows

connection breaks down

all love flows from God
through us into the world

and so when you do wrong things

that breaks down
and sin separates.

So when you separate it hurts.

No different in
any human relationship.

So what you have to realize
and okay if there is an original

we know there is
going to be a counterfeit

because Satan is not gonna leave

something like that undone. Yes.

So how could
use counterfeit work

that could through
us into this huge tizzy?

And that's what we want
to look at little bit is--

is it's that counterfeit
guilt that we can't get rid off,

that destroys us emotional,
physical and spiritually

and Satan wants to use that
and some of his people won't

talk about guilt much.

It's just sort of one
of those things that--

that kind of
sounds bit way out there

and yet it's very--it's
very important to understand.

Now there is a couple
of examples in the Bible.

One is we look at two characters

that of Judas and Peter.

Now the interesting thing is--

is their stories are
unbelievably parallel?

If you read
about it in Matthew 26,

the stories are just right down
00:08:16.11\00:08:19.05
both of them were
friends of each other
00:08:19.08\00:08:21.48
and we have the stories
happen on the same night,
00:08:21.51\00:08:24.55
they betray the same person.
00:08:24.58\00:08:26.10
They were warned
they ahead of time
00:08:26.13\00:08:27.18
they were gonna betray
and it just goes on and on
00:08:27.21\00:08:30.66
with the different things
they both experienced guilt

and guess what,
they both repentance.

Because, you know, it
says in Matthew 27 right here

it says, "Then Judas,
which had betrayed him,
00:08:38.49\00:08:41.12
when he saw that he was
condemned, repented himself,
00:08:41.15\00:08:43.66
and brought again the
thirty pieces of silver to him."

So he did feel
some pressure there.

Right. And he repented.

But now okay so all the
way through and he is like,

the pile are
different, absolute parallel

so the story should
have ended the same too.

But it didn't.

evangelists for Jesus,

The story are so parallel
how could that be possible?

accurate statement to say

repentance." Absolutely.

When the devil puts
this guilt this accusation,

accusatory type guilt on you

it's to drive you
further away from God.

and the very word
that you brought up there

is the key to Satan's guilt.

it's a break down of
love that creates this hurt,

day and night accusing us.

the accusation feels

compared to real guilt?

Now here is what Satan is
really got to figure it out.

who burnt down the school house,

you started the
fire to burn it down

and you didn't do it.

And so I said oh,

Well, now, all of a
sudden rises on you.

What do you feel like?

even though you didn't do it?

It's because the condemning
finger is pointing at you

so you get that sense of
hurt, that sense of emptiness,

that sense of
rejection that comes along with,

you know in shame,
that comes along with guilt.

It feels the same.

And so--so how do
you deal with it then?

I mean so this is
what Satan is gonna do.

He is going to accuse you.

Now here is the way, he
is like a schoolyard boy.

He comes up to
me leads me to sin.

He is one who leads me into sin,

and the second day
sin what does he do?

He runs and tells this to God.

I mean this happened
to me in the schoolyard.

You know, kids would
say well, go behind the back

and smoke a cigarette

or do whatever
else. So you take a puff.

Now right away the
teacher hears about it.

You know, I mean
that's the way Satan is.

And so, what he does then

but he doesn't
like go that accusation.

Even though I may
get punished for that

or I may or the
teacher may just have grace

and say okay, don't do it again.

The bully is not going to let up

judgmental thought.

I was judgmental

problem with exaggerating.

made-- he prayed with the Lord.

The Lord-- he
called it exaggeration

the Lord said no its lie.

So, he prayed to the Lord

and the Lord
really impressed him

that from then on
no matter where he was

that if he exaggerated he was
to confess that it was a lie.

So he is in the pulpit
and he is telling this story
