Hello, I'm Shelley Quinn. 00:00:31.64\00:00:32.80 And welcome again to "Issues and Answers." 00:00:32.83\00:00:35.07 Today, our issue is going to be "Seeing Jesus as the Fulfillment 00:00:35.10\00:00:40.74 of all of the Biblical Feast of the Old Testament." 00:00:40.77\00:00:45.17 And I'm really excited about our guest 00:00:45.20\00:00:48.11 who is going to be joining us. 00:00:48.14\00:00:49.69 And before I introduce him, 00:00:49.72\00:00:51.03 let me give you the scripture from Paul's writings to the-- 00:00:51.06\00:00:54.56 His first letter to the Corinthians 00:00:54.59\00:00:56.60 and this is Chapter 5:7. 00:00:56.63\00:00:59.45 And Paul says, "Purge the old leaven that you may be fresh, 00:00:59.48\00:01:04.98 uncontaminated if you will for Christ, 00:01:05.01\00:01:10.04 our Passover lamb has been sacrificed." 00:01:10.07\00:01:13.83 So Paul saw Jesus Christ as our Passover lamb. 00:01:13.86\00:01:17.66 And we have with us today Jeff Zaremsky. 00:01:17.69\00:01:21.16 And, Jeff, we are excited that you've come back. 00:01:21.19\00:01:24.41 It's good, good to be here. 00:01:24.44\00:01:26.03 Now you are the president of Jewish Heritage. 00:01:26.06\00:01:28.93 You're also as I said before. 00:01:28.96\00:01:31.59 I don't know what to call you, Rabbi Teacher or pastor. 00:01:31.62\00:01:34.56 But you have-- You call me Jeff. 00:01:34.59\00:01:35.79 Call you Jeff? 00:01:35.82\00:01:37.10 You have two congregations, 00:01:37.13\00:01:38.89 one in Saint Petersburg, Florida and the other in-- 00:01:38.92\00:01:42.64 New Port Richey. New Port Richey. 00:01:42.67\00:01:44.20 And this is called Beth-El Shalom. That's right. 00:01:44.23\00:01:48.33 "Beth" meaning house, "EL" God 00:01:48.36\00:01:51.08 and "Shalom" peace. That's right. 00:01:51.11\00:01:52.67 So this is the house of God, our peace. 00:01:52.70\00:01:56.00 That's right. Okay. 00:01:56.03\00:01:57.26 We are excited that you're here 00:01:57.29\00:01:58.63 to talk to us today about a Biblical Feasts. 00:01:58.66\00:02:02.04 Do you in-- Since you are reaching out 00:02:02.07\00:02:05.07 and your ministry is to Jews. Right. 00:02:05.10\00:02:08.99 Do you keep the feasts at your church? 00:02:09.02\00:02:13.81 We don't keep them. Okay. 00:02:13.84\00:02:16.55 We do utilize them, we do use them, 00:02:16.58\00:02:19.92 we do observe them with our eyes and our ears and our studying. 00:02:19.95\00:02:25.03 We do enjoy them and again, remember them. Okay. 00:02:25.06\00:02:31.37 But we don't keep them. All right. 00:02:31.40\00:02:33.12 There's a fine line distinction, but a very important one 00:02:33.15\00:02:35.93 which we'll be talking about throughout the show here. 00:02:35.96\00:02:37.77 So we do utilize them. 00:02:37.80\00:02:40.22 Because it's a wonderful way of teaching 00:02:40.25\00:02:41.74 like you just introduced, teaching Jesus. Yes. 00:02:41.77\00:02:44.84 Because He is the fulfillment of them all. 00:02:44.87\00:02:47.03 And so if we rip out that whole section of the Bible 00:02:47.06\00:02:50.40 and forget about that then we are losing a whole lot of the-- 00:02:50.43\00:02:57.69 The essence and the framework of Jesus' foundation. 00:02:57.72\00:03:01.93 It's like we can build a house and so yes, necessarily, 00:03:01.96\00:03:05.54 technically need the blueprints anymore. 00:03:05.57\00:03:08.42 But having those blueprints around, 00:03:08.45\00:03:09.71 I don't know if you've ever used them. 00:03:09.74\00:03:10.89 Sometimes I'll pull them out, when we want to do 00:03:10.92\00:03:12.49 some electrical or some plumbing 00:03:12.52\00:03:13.96 or something happens, something breaks, 00:03:13.99\00:03:15.51 you need to find where the originals are 00:03:15.54\00:03:17.68 and it still gives you a good understanding 00:03:17.71\00:03:20.05 of what's behind the walls and where everything is. 00:03:20.08\00:03:23.21 And so you know the house better by having-- 00:03:23.24\00:03:25.66 Still having the blueprints, technically you don't need them, 00:03:25.69\00:03:27.99 but still having them really helps you 00:03:28.02\00:03:30.52 to understand the house a whole lot better. 00:03:30.55\00:03:32.62 Okay, so what we want to very clearly 00:03:32.65\00:03:36.27 make known today is that we're not here 00:03:36.30\00:03:40.24 to try to say that you should keep 00:03:40.27\00:03:43.09 or must keep the feasts of the Old Testament. 00:03:43.12\00:03:46.75 Right. In fact-- 00:03:46.78\00:03:47.81 You can't, you can't. 00:03:47.84\00:03:48.87 You can't. Right. 00:03:48.90\00:03:49.93 If someone wanted to keep the feasts, 00:03:49.96\00:03:52.62 keep it like the Bible says, the letter of the word. 00:03:52.65\00:03:56.09 For three of them, three out of the seven 00:03:56.12\00:03:58.87 we'd have to go to Jerusalem. 00:03:58.90\00:04:00.65 And which is okay, you know, 00:04:00.68\00:04:01.71 if that's what God said then that's what we should do, 00:04:01.74\00:04:03.61 but then when we got there we had to sacrifice, 00:04:03.64\00:04:05.64 we'd have to sacrifice animals. 00:04:05.67\00:04:07.85 And it gives a specific number 00:04:07.88\00:04:09.54 and types and everything like that. 00:04:09.57\00:04:10.89 Well, people can say, "Well, Jesus is now our sacrifice." 00:04:10.92\00:04:13.33 Like you read. Well, that's fine, He is. 00:04:13.36\00:04:15.48 But then we're not exactly keeping it 00:04:15.51\00:04:17.73 exactly as it said to do. 00:04:17.76\00:04:19.96 We are spiritualizing it 00:04:19.99\00:04:21.35 and we are applying Jesus as those sacrifices. 00:04:21.38\00:04:24.18 And so once we start applying Jesus as those sacrifices 00:04:24.21\00:04:27.41 then we're not doing exactly what it said, 00:04:27.44\00:04:29.66 we're doing the fulfillment of what it's-- 00:04:29.69\00:04:31.69 by applying Him to it, but we're not actually doing it. 00:04:31.72\00:04:35.00 Okay, so let me make sure that 00:04:35.03\00:04:36.22 we understand exactly what you just said 00:04:36.25\00:04:38.69 is that we cannot keep the feast 00:04:38.72\00:04:42.67 because we'd all have to be going to Jerusalem for-- 00:04:42.70\00:04:44.79 at least three of them but furthermore 00:04:44.82\00:04:47.68 we would have to reinstitute the sacrificial system 00:04:47.71\00:04:50.89 which we know has come to an end that Jesus is the end of it all. 00:04:50.92\00:04:55.67 He is the fulfillment, 00:04:55.70\00:04:57.07 the filling to the fullest of this. 00:04:57.10\00:04:59.08 So what you're saying is that when you look to the feasts 00:04:59.11\00:05:03.35 at your congregation that what you're doing 00:05:03.38\00:05:06.02 is looking at it as the blueprint to see this is-- 00:05:06.05\00:05:10.15 Who Jesus Christ, this is all that He's doing 00:05:10.18\00:05:13.19 and you're showing the fulfillment. That's right. 00:05:13.22\00:05:15.03 So basically when you-- Would you say then that 00:05:15.06\00:05:20.82 because some of us don't-- 00:05:20.85\00:05:23.49 I mean, you know, there's some-- I'll just be really frank. 00:05:23.52\00:05:26.38 There is you know a movement that's going on with futurists 00:05:26.41\00:05:31.62 who have the futurists interpretations of Revelation. 00:05:31.65\00:05:34.81 And they believe that the feasts days 00:05:34.84\00:05:37.31 have to be celebrated. 00:05:37.34\00:05:38.83 They believe that the sacrificial system 00:05:38.86\00:05:41.04 will be reinstated before Jesus returns. 00:05:41.07\00:05:43.90 The temple has to be rebuilt and take out the tomb of the rock, 00:05:43.93\00:05:46.21 the mosque there and build the temple there, 00:05:46.24\00:05:48.78 so that that can be done, right. 00:05:48.81\00:05:51.04 And when we run into these people 00:05:51.07\00:05:53.42 and some of what they've misconstrued in scripture, 00:05:53.45\00:05:56.01 we all kind of, oops. Right. 00:05:56.04\00:05:58.81 You know, we don't want-- And we want to make sure 00:05:58.84\00:06:01.02 that everyone is understanding us today 00:06:01.05\00:06:02.48 that we're not saying anything like that. 00:06:02.51\00:06:05.17 A great study for those people and for all of us. 00:06:05.20\00:06:07.50 You just take it in congruence, 00:06:07.53\00:06:09.21 look up the word Jerusalem, look up the word temple, 00:06:09.24\00:06:13.40 look up the word sanctuary, everywhere in the New Testament. 00:06:13.43\00:06:17.92 And every single time, group those together, 00:06:17.95\00:06:21.45 make your groupings, it applies to several things. 00:06:21.48\00:06:24.70 They apply to either Jesus. 00:06:24.73\00:06:26.42 Jesus is always the temple or the sanctuary 00:06:26.45\00:06:30.03 or Jerusalem is always the New Jerusalem. 00:06:30.06\00:06:32.92 I mean, listen to gospels that's saying 00:06:32.95\00:06:34.21 disciples went to Jerusalem. 00:06:34.24\00:06:35.90 I'm talking about the literal Jerusalem 00:06:35.93\00:06:37.48 that was there in His day and it's same with the temple, 00:06:37.51\00:06:40.10 but then after that it's always the New Jerusalem, 00:06:40.13\00:06:42.70 the heavenly temple, Jesus as the temple 00:06:42.73\00:06:45.88 and then our body as the temple, 00:06:45.91\00:06:48.03 all throughout the New Testament. 00:06:48.06\00:06:49.34 Those are the only ways. 00:06:49.37\00:06:50.67 Those words are used, those three words. 00:06:50.70\00:06:52.23 Jerusalem, Sanctuary and Temple. 00:06:52.26\00:06:55.22 And so there is no basis anywhere in that--- 00:06:55.25\00:06:57.54 In the Bible for futurism. Okay. 00:06:57.57\00:07:01.09 Now, what are some of the benefits? 00:07:01.12\00:07:05.19 Especially, when you are-- 00:07:05.22\00:07:06.61 I know we talk in one of the early programs 00:07:06.64\00:07:09.60 how you have made your church more like a synagogue 00:07:09.63\00:07:14.75 to meet the cultural needs of the Jewish people 00:07:14.78\00:07:18.97 that you're trying to win to Jesus Christ. 00:07:19.00\00:07:21.12 Some of the great benefits that we miss out on, 00:07:21.15\00:07:23.90 if we just throw it away and ignore them 00:07:23.93\00:07:25.27 and forget about that whole section of the Bible 00:07:25.30\00:07:26.97 which is pretty big section of the Bible. 00:07:27.00\00:07:28.61 There are a lot of benefits. 00:07:28.64\00:07:29.69 We can share one other things, Shelly, with the-- 00:07:29.72\00:07:32.19 How we can know which one, 00:07:32.22\00:07:34.81 which laws in the Jewish counting? 00:07:34.84\00:07:37.90 613 laws in the Torah, 00:07:37.93\00:07:40.52 in the first five books of Moses. 00:07:40.55\00:07:42.14 So now do all of them still apply till today? 00:07:42.17\00:07:45.19 And if not, how do we know which ones do. 00:07:45.22\00:07:47.89 Are all of them thrown out? Are all nailed to the cross? 00:07:47.93\00:07:50.88 What-- How we do know? 00:07:50.91\00:07:52.20 And how can we distinguish that the Ten Commandments still apply 00:07:52.23\00:07:54.89 and the health principle still apply? 00:07:54.92\00:07:57.50 But circumcision doesn't and, you know, how can we know? 00:07:57.53\00:08:00.25 Is there a parallel? 00:08:00.28\00:08:02.03 I think there's a very simple formula 00:08:02.06\00:08:04.43 for being able to delineate for 613 commandments. 00:08:04.46\00:08:07.52 Which ones still apply today? 00:08:07.55\00:08:09.51 Which ones are eternal, last forever 00:08:09.54\00:08:13.17 and which ones are universal apply to all people 00:08:13.20\00:08:17.16 and then which ones are not? Very simple. 00:08:17.19\00:08:19.69 If the law was there in the Garden of Eden before sin. 00:08:19.72\00:08:26.74 And if the law continue to be an existent after sin 00:08:26.77\00:08:30.35 and if the law will still be there in heaven, 00:08:30.38\00:08:33.02 then it has to be those three criteria 00:08:33.05\00:08:34.85 that it's eternal before time, during time, after time, 00:08:34.88\00:08:39.59 before sin, during sin and after sin and universal 00:08:39.62\00:08:42.88 because it was given to Adam and Eve, the parents of mankind. 00:08:42.91\00:08:45.43 So apply to all humanity. 00:08:45.46\00:08:47.73 Well, we see the Ten Commandments 00:08:47.76\00:08:48.88 were right there in the Garden of Eden. 00:08:48.91\00:08:50.41 Maybe not on storm, but they were there. 00:08:50.44\00:08:52.49 You weren't allowed to kill. 00:08:52.52\00:08:53.64 And Eve gave her husband the poisonous fruit, 00:08:53.67\00:08:56.94 she killed him and she committed suicide in a sense 00:08:56.97\00:08:58.92 and Adam chosen to. 00:08:58.95\00:09:00.44 They stole, they coveted, 00:09:00.47\00:09:02.31 they took what didn't belong to them. 00:09:02.34\00:09:04.41 The Sabbath obviously was there in the Garden of Eden, 00:09:04.44\00:09:06.26 it mentions it being there. 00:09:06.29\00:09:07.70 So the Ten Commandments we obviously see honoring God, 00:09:07.73\00:09:10.36 having no other God, they made God, 00:09:10.39\00:09:11.90 Satan their God by listening to Him. 00:09:11.93\00:09:13.16 So the Ten Commandments 00:09:13.19\00:09:14.22 are obviously there in the Garden of Eden. 00:09:14.25\00:09:16.44 Did God say in the Garden of Eden 00:09:16.47\00:09:18.07 what they could eat and what they couldn't eat? 00:09:18.10\00:09:19.37 Yes. Yeah. 00:09:19.40\00:09:20.43 So the principles of God having the ability to tell us 00:09:20.46\00:09:23.04 what to eat and what to not eat are there from the beginning. 00:09:23.07\00:09:26.13 And it was even more restricted, not to eat from this tree 00:09:26.16\00:09:28.57 and really just fruits and grains at that point. 00:09:28.60\00:09:31.78 So that part is still under God dominion 00:09:31.81\00:09:34.55 for all people universal and eternal. 00:09:34.58\00:09:38.71 Now were circumcision there? 00:09:38.74\00:09:40.82 No, it's not mentioned for about 2,000 years till Abraham, 00:09:40.85\00:09:46.18 after it's over 2,000 years, Noah, Methuselah, 00:09:46.21\00:09:50.21 none of them circumcised so it's not there until Abraham. 00:09:50.24\00:09:53.50 So obviously, it can't be eternal, 00:09:53.53\00:09:55.55 if it has a beginning. 00:09:55.58\00:09:57.23 And it can't apply to all people, 00:09:57.26\00:09:58.70 if it didn't apply to the first people 00:09:58.73\00:10:00.22 for the first 2,000 years of earth's history. 00:10:00.25\00:10:03.42 Well, now, how about the feasts? 00:10:03.45\00:10:05.44 The feasts don't come into existence 00:10:05.47\00:10:07.76 until even later than that. 00:10:07.79\00:10:09.95 They don't come until Moses 00:10:09.98\00:10:11.30 which is about 400 and 500 years after that. 00:10:11.33\00:10:14.59 So for the first 2,500 years nobody has kept a Passover, 00:10:14.62\00:10:17.96 nobody has celebrated Passover, 00:10:17.99\00:10:19.48 nobody has done any of the feasts. 00:10:19.51\00:10:21.69 So they were there for a purpose. 00:10:21.72\00:10:24.31 Now just as circumcision still has its medical benefits, 00:10:24.34\00:10:27.19 the feasts still have their benefits, 00:10:27.22\00:10:29.90 but they're not even eternal and they're not universal. 00:10:29.93\00:10:33.45 Right, and they're not required for universal, 00:10:33.48\00:10:35.68 but they're still good, they're not necessarily bad. 00:10:35.71\00:10:39.29 It just not on the same level as let's say the Sabbath or those. 00:10:39.32\00:10:43.58 That's how we can distinguish 00:10:43.61\00:10:44.64 which one's still apply today and which one's don't. 00:10:44.67\00:10:48.17 So what are some of the benefits of the remembering the feast? 00:10:48.20\00:10:51.30 Okay, let's look at what are some of the loses of-- 00:10:51.33\00:10:55.43 Let's look at the typical calendar year, 00:10:55.46\00:10:57.75 look at the church calendar year. 00:10:57.78\00:10:59.23 And starts of with New Year, so New Year's resolution 00:10:59.26\00:11:02.64 there might be a sermon on that, 00:11:02.67\00:11:03.90 there might be a newsletter, article and that is not bad. 00:11:03.93\00:11:06.85 I'm not saying that this is a bad calendar year or, 00:11:06.88\00:11:08.45 you know, that this is wrong, it's just a typical. 00:11:08.48\00:11:11.24 It starts with New Year's resolution 00:11:11.27\00:11:12.91 then comes what, Valentine's Day 00:11:12.94\00:11:15.54 and so there's a sermon on love and then comes Mother's Day 00:11:15.57\00:11:19.09 and so we honor all the mothers 00:11:19.12\00:11:20.31 and even the poor woman that, you know, 00:11:20.34\00:11:22.52 maybe never got married and never had children. 00:11:22.55\00:11:24.20 And so Easter for Mother's Day. 00:11:24.23\00:11:25.26 And it maybe then Easter and in case then we got Easter 00:11:25.29\00:11:27.54 and then whole gamut of that whole history 00:11:27.57\00:11:29.83 and all that stuff. 00:11:29.86\00:11:31.44 And then passed that then there's Independence Day. 00:11:31.47\00:11:34.59 Always wonder about Independence Day. 00:11:34.62\00:11:36.12 You know, when I became a believer in the Lord 00:11:36.15\00:11:37.45 that we became-- I became dependent on God. 00:11:37.48\00:11:39.54 And now this independence, I'm remember going to church 00:11:39.57\00:11:41.99 I had a big whole thing on it on independence and until we-- 00:11:42.02\00:11:45.58 We've replaced it with these nationalistic holidays. 00:11:45.75\00:11:48.31 Which again in and of themselves are not necessarily bad, 00:11:48.34\00:11:50.46 but they only apply to the nation that you're at. 00:11:50.49\00:11:54.15 And we can make spiritual analogies, 00:11:54.18\00:11:57.13 but they're really not coming right out of the Bible. 00:11:57.16\00:12:00.63 And we can go on with the whole year that way. 00:12:00.66\00:12:05.28 But if we look at what a calendar year would look like, 00:12:05.31\00:12:08.13 you can still have all these other things that they like them 00:12:08.16\00:12:10.77 but also including the seven 00:12:10.80\00:12:14.24 and even other feasts that are mentioned in the Bible, 00:12:14.27\00:12:18.25 it keeps us on track because all of them point to the cross. 00:12:18.28\00:12:21.36 All of them point to Jesus, so it keeps us track with Jesus. 00:12:21.39\00:12:25.02 Instead of the focus going to independence 00:12:25.05\00:12:26.84 or our personal resolutions or honoring people, 00:12:26.87\00:12:30.51 it keeps us focused on Jesus. 00:12:30.54\00:12:32.70 And so the calendar year, 00:12:32.73\00:12:34.37 when you're coming to the spring time there's the Passover. 00:12:34.40\00:12:37.44 And the Passover is certainly 00:12:37.47\00:12:39.35 is a whole lot more than just Easter. 00:12:39.38\00:12:42.12 It's not Easter at all, you know. 00:12:42.15\00:12:43.22 And it's a whole lot more than even just communion. 00:12:43.25\00:12:45.43 There is just so much to the Passover. 00:12:45.46\00:12:47.87 Always just so powerful 00:12:47.90\00:12:49.24 to have a communion in light of the Passover. 00:12:49.27\00:12:54.34 It's just tons of stuff in there 00:12:54.37\00:12:56.09 that point us again all towards Jesus. 00:12:56.12\00:12:58.90 Jesus, you know, at the cross and His death for us. 00:12:58.93\00:13:03.04 And so we're remembering that then we-- 00:13:03.07\00:13:06.03 After that is the resurrection, the feast of wave He's offering. 00:13:06.06\00:13:09.96 So we have the cross and the resurrection, 00:13:09.99\00:13:11.92 the first fruits and then you go 50 days after that, 00:13:11.95\00:13:14.62 you have Shavuot which is Pentecost. 00:13:14.65\00:13:17.40 And so you got the remembering of the Holy Spirit 00:13:17.43\00:13:19.18 then we need the Holy Spirit, 00:13:19.21\00:13:20.27 we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, 00:13:20.30\00:13:21.44 we need go out and evangelize, 00:13:21.47\00:13:22.84 we need to share and bring people in 00:13:22.87\00:13:24.77 and added to the number, and so that's reminded also. 00:13:24.80\00:13:28.11 And then we come to in the fall. 00:13:28.14\00:13:31.43 And there are the-- then there's Rosh Hashanah 00:13:31.46\00:13:35.10 which is in Jewish, it's called Rosh Hashanah, 00:13:35.13\00:13:37.39 but it's the feast of trumpets. 00:13:37.42\00:13:39.83 Feasts of trumpets-- No-- 00:13:39.86\00:13:43.56 Okay. Yeah, that's-- 00:13:43.59\00:13:44.90 But first the feast of trumpets and that is the loud cry. 00:13:44.93\00:13:47.39 Just before Yom Kippur. Right, exactly. 00:13:47.42\00:13:49.20 So you get a loud cry, reminding us again to go out 00:13:49.23\00:13:52.10 and shout that Jesus is coming again 00:13:52.13\00:13:54.17 because the fall of feasts represent, 00:13:54.20\00:13:55.47 the last days represent, Jesus' second coming. 00:13:55.50\00:13:58.67 The spring one's representing His first coming, 00:13:58.70\00:14:01.23 His death, His burial, 00:14:01.26\00:14:02.42 His resurrection and then the early believers 00:14:02.45\00:14:06.02 are the early church and then the fall feasts 00:14:06.05\00:14:08.02 all representing the second coming of Jesus. 00:14:08.05\00:14:11.90 And so you have the loud cry, the message going out. 00:14:11.93\00:14:14.88 Jesus is coming again, Jesus is coming again. 00:14:14.91\00:14:16.93 Get ready, get ready, get ready. 00:14:16.96\00:14:19.04 And then that's followed by Yom Kippur, 00:14:19.07\00:14:23.13 it's known as the Day of Atonement 00:14:23.16\00:14:24.69 which will brings us back to the Day of Judgment 00:14:24.72\00:14:26.97 and the whole judgment message. 00:14:27.00\00:14:28.59 The First Angel's Message talks about 00:14:28.62\00:14:31.26 that fear God and give glory to Him 00:14:31.29\00:14:34.12 for the hour of His judgment has come. 00:14:34.15\00:14:36.76 And so it brings us back on yearly basis, 00:14:36.79\00:14:38.81 reminding us to not to forget 00:14:38.84\00:14:40.92 to preach the advent message, 00:14:40.95\00:14:44.50 the Three Angels Message, the coming judgment 00:14:44.53\00:14:48.40 and to get ready for the judgment, be prepared. 00:14:48.43\00:14:50.83 And we can look at in light of grace, 00:14:50.86\00:14:52.48 we can look at in light of love, 00:14:52.51\00:14:53.71 we can look at in light of God's covering over us, 00:14:53.74\00:14:56.75 but that we still need to remember it and not forget it. 00:14:56.78\00:14:58.84 And then right after that is the Feast of Ingathering 00:14:58.87\00:15:01.93 also known as the Feast of Tabernacles, 00:15:01.96\00:15:03.82 also known as the Feast of Booths 00:15:03.85\00:15:06.87 or Sukkoth we say in Hebrew. 00:15:06.90\00:15:08.22 And so that represents heaven 00:15:08.25\00:15:11.16 which can after the judgment, after the loud cry, 00:15:11.19\00:15:13.48 after the message goes out to all the world, 00:15:13.51\00:15:15.63 to every nation, every tribe, every kindred, 00:15:15.66\00:15:17.27 every people, then the judgment will come 00:15:17.30\00:15:19.93 and then after the judgment is completed. 00:15:19.96\00:15:21.69 And the judgment is a long process 00:15:21.72\00:15:23.05 just like in the Unties States or judge--Court system is a-- 00:15:23.08\00:15:27.84 You know, just go and arrest the guy 00:15:27.87\00:15:29.02 and then sentence and hung that same day. 00:15:29.05\00:15:31.47 You know, there is a process. 00:15:31.50\00:15:32.86 The same with God's laws. 00:15:32.89\00:15:34.44 Man is no more jesting-- Man is not more jesting God, 00:15:34.47\00:15:37.35 so God has His investigative judgment 00:15:37.38\00:15:39.61 and the whole judgment process. 00:15:39.64\00:15:40.79 And at the end of that then there's heaven forever. 00:15:40.82\00:15:43.44 And that lasts seven days that the-- 00:15:43.47\00:15:46.58 Bible mentions it, "Sukkoth to the feast of ingathering 00:15:46.61\00:15:50.38 and feast of harvest last in seven days." 00:15:50.41\00:15:52.43 Well, there you get that number of totality 00:15:52.46\00:15:54.25 that forever and ever will be in heaven 00:15:54.28\00:15:56.46 with the perfection and no more and in judgment. 00:15:56.49\00:15:59.91 So again it's great time to remember heaven 00:15:59.94\00:16:01.57 and have a sermon right on heaven. 00:16:01.60\00:16:03.53 And so we've got that theme all throughout. 00:16:03.56\00:16:06.11 And coming-- We have some pictures 00:16:06.14\00:16:08.91 actually I can show you how we do it now. 00:16:08.94\00:16:10.79 Now of course, how we do it 00:16:10.82\00:16:12.06 is how we do it in the Jewish way. 00:16:12.09\00:16:14.54 And I'm not saying that, again not all churches 00:16:14.57\00:16:17.38 have to do this at all, but if they want to, 00:16:17.41\00:16:19.76 remember they don't have to remember it 00:16:19.79\00:16:21.09 with the same Jewish because a lot of what we do 00:16:21.12\00:16:23.40 is Jewish traditions that are been meshed in 00:16:23.43\00:16:27.34 with the holidays, which is not necessarily bad, 00:16:27.37\00:16:30.05 any worse in Christian traditions, you know. 00:16:30.08\00:16:32.76 And there are Christian traditions 00:16:32.79\00:16:33.86 whether we're gods or not. 00:16:33.89\00:16:36.25 Traditions that replaced the Bible are bad traditions. 00:16:36.28\00:16:39.45 Traditions of men that undermine 00:16:39.48\00:16:42.12 or supersede the Bible, certainly the wrong. 00:16:42.15\00:16:44.59 But a tradition, you know, 00:16:44.62\00:16:45.69 having birthday party or families like to have, 00:16:45.72\00:16:48.10 popcorn on Friday night. 00:16:48.13\00:16:49.20 You know, it's good tradition so you can have. 00:16:49.23\00:16:50.96 So we can look at some of the pictures 00:16:50.99\00:16:52.67 and we run through that 00:16:52.70\00:16:54.11 and look at some of the traditions. 00:16:54.14\00:16:55.95 We start of with Hanukkah. 00:16:55.98\00:16:57.12 Hanukkah takes place in December. 00:16:57.15\00:16:59.39 That's festival of lights. Festival of lights. 00:16:59.42\00:17:00.72 And there we are lighting our candles, lighting our-- 00:17:00.75\00:17:02.81 Now that's not in the Bible though. 00:17:02.84\00:17:04.84 Well, that's what I was gonna ask you. 00:17:04.87\00:17:06.27 Where in the Bible is that? 00:17:06.30\00:17:07.72 You just said, you know, no. 00:17:07.75\00:17:08.78 It is in the Bible. Where is it? 00:17:08.81\00:17:09.98 It is mentioned in the Bible. 00:17:10.01\00:17:11.04 It is? Yes. 00:17:11.07\00:17:12.10 It's mentioned in the Book of John Chapter 10, 00:17:12.13\00:17:15.59 I believe it is verse 8. 00:17:15.62\00:17:16.77 I mean we got that backwards, I don't know, where it says, 00:17:16.80\00:17:19.60 "It was the winter time and Jesus came to the temple 00:17:19.63\00:17:23.27 during the Feast of Dedication." 00:17:23.30\00:17:26.19 And the word "dedication" in Hebrew is Hanukkah. 00:17:26.22\00:17:29.72 So it is. I heard it wasn't. 00:17:29.75\00:17:31.76 Right. That's the whole line. 00:17:31.79\00:17:33.29 That's the whole line on what it was. 00:17:33.32\00:17:35.07 Jesus went in the temple, 00:17:35.10\00:17:36.13 it was being celebrated in Jesus' Day 00:17:36.16\00:17:37.92 or observed in Jesus' Day and remembered in Jesus' Day. 00:17:37.95\00:17:40.27 And very powerful, there are-- 00:17:40.30\00:17:43.02 And celebrated Beth El-Shalom. 00:17:43.05\00:17:44.59 That's the front of one of our buildings of thing. 00:17:44.62\00:17:46.04 Pre-congregation, that's right. 00:17:46.07\00:17:47.66 And now we light the big menorah 00:17:47.69\00:17:49.14 and it has to eight the-- It has nine candles on it. 00:17:49.17\00:17:52.76 And Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days. 00:17:52.79\00:17:56.16 And many people will ask, "Well, 00:17:56.19\00:17:59.78 I've seen menorah is with seven branches. 00:17:59.81\00:18:02.07 Why does that one have nine 00:18:02.10\00:18:03.47 and why do you celebrate it for eight days? 00:18:03.50\00:18:05.50 Well, it's celebrated. 00:18:05.53\00:18:07.06 The seventh branch menorah is from the sanctuary. 00:18:07.09\00:18:10.18 That's how God designed 00:18:10.21\00:18:11.34 and told Moses to build it, seven branches. 00:18:11.37\00:18:16.19 During the time of the Greeks, 00:18:16.22\00:18:18.35 over running Israel, Israel fought back 00:18:18.38\00:18:22.24 and won back the temple, 00:18:22.27\00:18:24.32 cleaned out all the Assyrian idols, 00:18:24.35\00:18:26.40 Zeus and everything and rededicated the temple. 00:18:26.43\00:18:29.97 Hanukkah did in dedication. 00:18:30.00\00:18:32.42 They dedicated it for eight days 00:18:32.45\00:18:34.93 because in the Bible, throughout the Bible 00:18:34.96\00:18:36.46 eight means dedication. 00:18:36.49\00:18:37.83 You dedicate your child with circumcision on the eighth day. 00:18:37.86\00:18:40.85 It's also like a day of new beginnings, too. 00:18:40.88\00:18:42.91 That's right. New beginnings, that's right. 00:18:42.94\00:18:44.51 And so it was a new temple, new beginnings. 00:18:44.54\00:18:46.33 Solomon dedicated the temple for eight days. 00:18:46.36\00:18:48.23 And so throughout the Bible we see that dedication. 00:18:48.26\00:18:50.63 So it's celebrated and there is a tradition 00:18:50.66\00:18:52.00 that they only had enough oil for one day 00:18:52.03\00:18:54.91 and it lasted for eight days. 00:18:54.94\00:18:56.72 And the menorah had to be lid all the time, 00:18:56.75\00:18:59.50 and so the eight days. Well, then that, 00:18:59.53\00:19:01.71 it still doesn't explain we have nine candles on it? 00:19:01.74\00:19:04.09 I'm gonna say, "Well, we have the eight on the lower branch." 00:19:04.12\00:19:06.01 But then we have a one high one, 00:19:06.04\00:19:08.06 it's called the Shamash candle. 00:19:08.09\00:19:09.98 And Shamash means servant. It's the servant candle. 00:19:10.01\00:19:13.78 We light that one first and then we use 00:19:13.81\00:19:16.21 that one to light the others. 00:19:16.24\00:19:18.49 So in the first night-- 00:19:18.52\00:19:19.57 Is that the one where they say, 00:19:19.60\00:19:20.90 "Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord." 00:19:20.93\00:19:23.14 That's the Shama. The Shama? 00:19:23.17\00:19:24.76 Okay. And it means here. It means here. 00:19:24.79\00:19:27.81 And so we light that Shamash, 00:19:27.84\00:19:29.61 Shamash candle, and so in the first night, 00:19:29.64\00:19:31.32 we light that and then light the first candle. 00:19:31.35\00:19:33.30 Second night we light that and two other candles. 00:19:33.33\00:19:35.09 So it's always lid and always lights the others. 00:19:35.12\00:19:38.28 Now right in the same place in John Chapter10 00:19:38.31\00:19:41.39 and right in that area, Jesus says 00:19:41.42\00:19:44.33 "I am the light of the world." 00:19:44.36\00:19:48.10 Okay. Yes. 00:19:48.13\00:19:49.78 And so, "I am the light of the world." 00:19:49.81\00:19:52.02 And so He is the Shamash candle. 00:19:52.05\00:19:54.56 "He who follows me will never walk in darkness." 00:19:54.59\00:19:56.60 Right. That's right. 00:19:56.63\00:19:57.77 Now in another place Jesus says, 00:19:57.80\00:20:00.10 "You are the light of the world." 00:20:00.13\00:20:02.11 So which is it? 'Cause He has lid us. 00:20:02.14\00:20:05.09 'Cause He has lid us, exactly. That's right. 00:20:05.12\00:20:06.90 He is the candle that lights us 00:20:06.93\00:20:08.27 and sets us on flame and shining for Him. 00:20:08.30\00:20:11.82 And so there you see it beautifully illustrated 00:20:11.85\00:20:14.40 which is amazing that Jewish people 00:20:14.43\00:20:15.71 don't see that, so we explain it out. 00:20:15.74\00:20:17.79 They don't know what the Shamash candle is? 00:20:17.82\00:20:18.85 Why do we have it? Many didn't know. 00:20:18.88\00:20:20.55 I didn't know growing up, we just did it. 00:20:20.58\00:20:22.66 And when you see it, it's very powerful. 00:20:22.69\00:20:25.24 He is the one that's sets on fire. 00:20:25.27\00:20:26.70 He is the one that lights us out. 00:20:26.73\00:20:27.99 And the oil and there's lot of analogies 00:20:28.02\00:20:29.53 that can be brought out with it, 00:20:29.56\00:20:31.08 then the next continue then we have Passover, 00:20:31.11\00:20:33.44 a little bit about Passover. 00:20:33.47\00:20:36.77 There's a Passover service in New Port Richey congregation. 00:20:36.80\00:20:39.77 And in the Passover, there're just so many things. 00:20:39.80\00:20:43.05 Well, like in the Gospel of Accounts, 00:20:43.08\00:20:44.72 Jesus is there at the Passover 00:20:44.75\00:20:46.16 and He tells His disciples one of you 00:20:46.19\00:20:48.06 are going to be betray me. 00:20:48.09\00:20:50.45 And He gives His symbol, He tells them they ask, 00:20:50.48\00:20:53.04 you know, is it a high? 00:20:53.07\00:20:54.30 And who is it gonna be? 00:20:54.33\00:20:55.58 And he tells them "That it's the one 00:20:55.61\00:20:58.36 who dips in the--" In King James it says, "Sop." 00:20:58.39\00:21:03.95 Whatever that means it's dipped in the sop. 00:21:03.98\00:21:05.90 Well, so is the--Just come up with that off is head. 00:21:05.93\00:21:09.12 What was being done? 00:21:09.15\00:21:10.52 Well, during the Passover, 00:21:10.55\00:21:13.66 there is a specific place where we dip. 00:21:13.69\00:21:16.06 And we actually have the kids come forward 00:21:16.09\00:21:17.59 and the kids ask questions. 00:21:17.62\00:21:19.06 They ask four different questions. 00:21:19.09\00:21:20.60 One of the questions is why do we dip on Passover? 00:21:20.63\00:21:25.13 And then the next question is 00:21:25.16\00:21:26.34 why do we dip twice on Passover? 00:21:26.37\00:21:29.59 The first dipping is we dip into horseradish. 00:21:29.62\00:21:33.31 We dip the morsel of the unleavened bread 00:21:33.34\00:21:34.73 which is a whole big beautiful thing on that, too. 00:21:34.76\00:21:37.65 We dip that in the horseradish 00:21:37.68\00:21:39.44 to remember the bitter slavery that we were under. 00:21:39.47\00:21:42.80 Next, we dip it in horseradish 00:21:42.83\00:21:45.04 and in what we call Haroset. 00:21:45.07\00:21:47.35 Haroset is a mixture of walnuts, apples and grape juice. 00:21:47.38\00:21:52.69 So it's a sweet tasting mixture. 00:21:52.72\00:21:54.34 Blend it up, it kind of looks like mortar. 00:21:54.37\00:21:55.95 And that's what supposed to remind us of the bricks 00:21:55.98\00:21:57.30 we had to make. 00:21:57.33\00:21:58.36 But it's sweet because even though 00:21:58.39\00:22:00.60 our slavery was bitter, it was sweetened 00:22:00.63\00:22:03.67 with the hope of deliverance. 00:22:03.70\00:22:05.54 And so we dip it two together. 00:22:05.57\00:22:07.19 So you have this horseradish, sweet. 00:22:07.22\00:22:09.72 So, you know, things have the bitter sweet. 00:22:09.75\00:22:12.61 The sweet and sour, we've got bitter and sweet. 00:22:12.64\00:22:15.53 And so we mix that together and eat that together. 00:22:15.56\00:22:17.82 I believe that's when Jesus said, 00:22:17.85\00:22:19.77 "The one who dips with Me 00:22:19.80\00:22:21.80 in that double dipping pot." 00:22:21.83\00:22:23.74 And He is saying to Judas, "Judas, you're very bitter. 00:22:23.77\00:22:27.52 You've got a lot of bitterness inside you. 00:22:27.55\00:22:29.65 You're filled with envy and you're filled with greed 00:22:29.68\00:22:31.98 and you're filled with pride, 00:22:32.01\00:22:33.88 but I can sweeten your life with My deliverance, 00:22:33.91\00:22:38.80 with my blood, My grape juice and this Haroset. 00:22:38.83\00:22:41.97 And I can make your life sweet." 00:22:42.00\00:22:43.85 And He's also saying, "Judas, 00:22:43.88\00:22:46.27 in just a little while you're going to make Me 00:22:46.30\00:22:48.43 go through a very bitter experience. 00:22:48.46\00:22:51.03 You're gonna make Me go to the cross 00:22:51.06\00:22:53.62 and be rejected and be hung and die. 00:22:53.65\00:22:57.19 But through my suffering, I will make many sweet." 00:22:57.22\00:23:01.46 And so you've got this bitter sweet. 00:23:01.49\00:23:02.98 And that's what we've doing it for thousands of years. 00:23:03.01\00:23:06.83 And not knowing why. And not knowing why. 00:23:06.86\00:23:08.82 Well, we do the bitters for the bitter slavery, 00:23:08.85\00:23:11.06 and but there's the whole symbolism, right? 00:23:11.09\00:23:13.35 And but Jesus knew and Jesus took that very symbolism 00:23:13.38\00:23:16.63 to reach through the Gospel of Accounts 00:23:16.66\00:23:17.97 and you compare it with the Passover Haggadah. 00:23:18.00\00:23:19.61 That's the Passover book that we read through. 00:23:19.64\00:23:21.55 They match up identically. 00:23:21.58\00:23:23.83 Jesus blessing the juice and blessing the bread 00:23:23.86\00:23:26.36 and dipping and reclining. 00:23:26.39\00:23:28.59 John is reclining, we don't have time for that I can see. 00:23:28.62\00:23:30.69 John reclines it's mentioned in-- 00:23:30.72\00:23:32.34 It's in the Passover that it's a reclined. 00:23:32.37\00:23:34.79 Just tons of stuff. 00:23:34.82\00:23:35.86 The whole Passover, the mortar, the unleavened, 00:23:35.89\00:23:38.35 the pears, bread, the broken bread, 00:23:38.38\00:23:40.11 it's just so much to it. 00:23:40.14\00:23:42.36 So now we've got a few pictures that we're look at, so-- 00:23:42.39\00:23:43.97 Okay. Yes. Let's go to the next one. 00:23:44.00\00:23:45.15 After Passover would be that's it, 00:23:45.18\00:23:47.16 then we go to the fall Rosh Hashanah 00:23:47.19\00:23:48.66 and how we observe Rosh Hashanah, 00:23:48.69\00:23:50.23 we wear white in preparation for the judgment to come. 00:23:50.26\00:23:55.04 We blow the trumpets again announcing. 00:23:55.07\00:23:57.32 Blow the shofar as announcing 00:23:57.35\00:23:59.02 that we blow it over 100 times, 00:23:59.05\00:24:00.39 announcing that judgment is coming, it's get ready time. 00:24:00.42\00:24:04.28 We've only got a few days between Rosh Hashanah. 00:24:04.31\00:24:06.91 So this is a time of fasting them. 00:24:06.94\00:24:08.63 It's a time of-- People who fast, 00:24:08.66\00:24:12.09 fasting on Yom Kippur specifically, 00:24:12.12\00:24:14.33 but fasting that whole time. 00:24:14.36\00:24:15.41 Reconciliation, writing wrongs, calling people, 00:24:15.44\00:24:18.84 apologizing, getting things straight. 00:24:18.87\00:24:21.09 We even put the Torah in a white cloth. 00:24:21.12\00:24:24.69 So white covering again that symbol of purity. 00:24:24.72\00:24:27.37 We wanted to be pure because the judgment is coming. 00:24:27.40\00:24:29.91 We want our sins purged, we want our sins forgiven. 00:24:29.94\00:24:33.05 We want to be right with the Lord 00:24:33.08\00:24:34.75 and cleanse with the Lord 00:24:34.78\00:24:36.62 in preparation for Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. 00:24:36.65\00:24:40.54 And then the Day of Atonement comes 00:24:40.57\00:24:43.62 and ten days later we call it the ten Days of Awe. 00:24:43.65\00:24:46.63 Ten days between the two. 00:24:46.66\00:24:48.35 When there is that the time, 00:24:48.38\00:24:49.93 the Sabbath that falls between the two we call Shabbat Shuvah, 00:24:49.96\00:24:55.40 Sabbath of Repentance. 00:24:55.43\00:24:57.14 So it's the whole message of repentance, 00:24:57.17\00:24:58.52 the whole message of forgiveness. 00:24:58.55\00:25:00.38 And then after that then comes the Sukkoth 00:25:00.41\00:25:02.67 and how we celebrate that, how we enjoy that. 00:25:02.70\00:25:04.41 We build the booths again reminding us 00:25:04.44\00:25:06.39 I think we might have a couple of pictures of that. 00:25:06.42\00:25:08.11 Here we build the booth and people get to sit 00:25:08.14\00:25:09.94 in the booth and again reminding us, right? 00:25:09.97\00:25:11.81 It reminds us backwards towards 00:25:11.84\00:25:13.27 our wondering in the wilderness, forward towards heaven. 00:25:13.30\00:25:16.50 Right. And some of our members there. 00:25:16.53\00:25:19.45 And then I think the last one 00:25:19.48\00:25:20.52 we want to talk about is Porum. 00:25:20.55\00:25:22.70 And Porum-- Now this was the Easter. 00:25:22.73\00:25:24.84 That's right, very good, Shelley. 00:25:24.87\00:25:25.90 Okay, yeah. The celebration of Easter. 00:25:25.93\00:25:28.60 And at the end of Easter it tells us to celebrate it 00:25:28.63\00:25:30.87 on this time and do it and to remember it. 00:25:30.90\00:25:32.84 And again it's so powerful 00:25:32.87\00:25:34.27 as we think of the Book of Esther 00:25:34.30\00:25:35.94 in last day events and the religious liberties 00:25:35.97\00:25:38.67 or religious freedoms were taken away and removed. 00:25:38.70\00:25:42.79 Now we celebrate them by dressing up 00:25:42.82\00:25:44.93 and make it a party time 00:25:44.96\00:25:46.18 and a happy time and a festive time. 00:25:46.21\00:25:48.64 And so we dress up in different characters of the Bible. 00:25:48.67\00:25:51.38 And it's a really fun occasion for us to enjoy. 00:25:51.41\00:25:56.39 You know, as I'm looking at these I'm wondering. 00:25:56.42\00:25:58.37 Do you-- I know you have 00:25:58.40\00:25:59.57 a lot of Jewish Christians that are here. 00:25:59.60\00:26:02.12 Do you have others who are not of the Jewish background, 00:26:02.15\00:26:06.07 have come just because they find this 00:26:06.10\00:26:07.51 so rich and exciting. 00:26:07.54\00:26:09.12 Yes, we do. Yes, we do. 00:26:09.15\00:26:10.64 A lot of people are learning, you know, 00:26:10.67\00:26:12.22 other parts of the Bible that they had never read 00:26:12.25\00:26:13.76 before or heard Bible. 00:26:13.79\00:26:15.53 Well, it's interesting. 00:26:15.56\00:26:16.76 So I just want to again make very clear 00:26:16.79\00:26:19.94 that we're not saying that the feast 00:26:19.97\00:26:23.29 must be kept impossible to be kept as a matter of fact. 00:26:23.32\00:26:26.32 We're talking about Jesus being the fulfillment of those 00:26:26.35\00:26:29.50 and Jeff is sharing some of the benefits of remembering 00:26:29.53\00:26:33.01 these feasts and seeing them 00:26:33.04\00:26:35.23 as the pictures of Jesus, the memorials of Jesus. 00:26:35.26\00:26:40.71 Now I know that right now 00:26:40.74\00:26:42.29 you and a good friend of mine, Steve Walberg we share a good-- 00:26:42.32\00:26:45.60 That's right. Good friend. 00:26:45.63\00:26:47.31 And you and Steve with White Horse Media. 00:26:47.34\00:26:50.82 You're working on a project, tell us about this. 00:26:50.85\00:26:54.09 Oh, this is an exciting project. 00:26:54.12\00:26:55.30 The Ultimate Passover, when we went to Israel 00:26:55.33\00:26:57.19 and we filmed already one-third of it on location. 00:26:57.22\00:27:01.45 In Egypt and in Israel 00:27:01.48\00:27:03.11 of some of the Passover, a little bit like, 00:27:03.14\00:27:04.96 what I explained in three sections, 00:27:04.99\00:27:07.66 a Passover in Moses' Day, 00:27:07.69\00:27:10.59 Passover in Jesus' Day, Passover today 00:27:10.62\00:27:12.70 and they all blend together how they all point to Jesus. 00:27:12.73\00:27:15.57 And so we've got about two-thirds 00:27:15.60\00:27:16.91 more to go on that project. 00:27:16.94\00:27:17.97 It'll be about one hour program. 00:27:18.00\00:27:20.76 So this will be a DVD project that will explain 00:27:20.79\00:27:24.16 how Jesus is the fulfillment of all of this. 00:27:24.19\00:27:26.69 That's right, exactly. That is exciting. 00:27:26.72\00:27:30.66 What do you do in your spare time? 00:27:30.69\00:27:32.03 Oh, I don't know. Sometimes I sleep. 00:27:32.06\00:27:34.98 Jeff, thank you so much for being here today. 00:27:35.01\00:27:36.95 We've really enjoyed it. 00:27:36.98\00:27:38.03 Pleasure to be here. Thank you. 00:27:38.06\00:27:39.49 You know, for those of you who at home, 00:27:39.52\00:27:40.86 I hoped you really learned 00:27:40.89\00:27:42.09 like I have today some exciting things. 00:27:42.12\00:27:44.32 And may the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, 00:27:44.35\00:27:46.58 the love of the Father 00:27:46.61\00:27:47.64 and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit 00:27:47.67\00:27:49.81 be with you and your family always. 00:27:49.84\00:27:52.44 Thank you for joining us. 00:27:52.47\00:27:53.97
