It's very nice to be here. 00:01:20.71\00:01:22.17 So we are going to learn about how to study our Bibles. 00:01:22.20\00:01:25.01 Well, I'm excited about this. Amen. 00:01:25.04\00:01:27.13 Where do we begin? 00:01:27.16\00:01:28.57 We begin with David. 00:01:28.60\00:01:30.88 Well, the Bible, it's interesting 00:01:30.91\00:01:32.89 that you would say that it was written in Hebrew and Greek. 00:01:32.92\00:01:34.87 It's actually written in Hebrew, Greek and-- 00:01:34.90\00:01:37.23 Aramaic. There was a third language. 00:01:37.26\00:01:38.63 Do you know what it was? 00:01:38.66\00:01:40.03 Aramaic. Aramaic, you got it. 00:01:40.06\00:01:41.82 It was written in Hebrew. 00:01:41.85\00:01:43.22 Of course, the Old Testament is in Hebrew and Aramaic 00:01:43.25\00:01:44.62 and the entire New Testament was written in Greek. 00:01:44.65\00:01:46.41 And it's interesting to me that you would say 00:01:46.44\00:01:47.91 that many people might still feel like 00:01:47.94\00:01:50.19 it's written in those languages because I have found 00:01:50.22\00:01:52.15 that very few people really understand the Bible. 00:01:52.18\00:01:55.15 I hate to say that but as we travel around the country, 00:01:55.18\00:01:59.01 it's really perplexing to me, 00:01:59.04\00:02:00.41 and I Sir Daniel was a pastor, 00:02:00.44\00:02:01.81 that there are very few people who really seem to have a grasp 00:02:01.84\00:02:05.64 on the totality of Scripture, what's being taught. 00:02:05.67\00:02:08.42 And the Bible is definitely a unique document. 00:02:08.45\00:02:11.56 The Bible is written on three different continents 00:02:11.59\00:02:15.01 over a period of probably about 1500 different years 00:02:15.04\00:02:18.16 by not less than 37 different authors. 00:02:18.19\00:02:21.11 These authors ranged in their vocations from being a farmer, 00:02:21.14\00:02:25.43 Jeremiah was a scribe, Matthew was a tax collector, 00:02:25.46\00:02:29.84 Peter was a fisherman, 00:02:29.87\00:02:31.24 so various socio-economic backgrounds, 00:02:31.27\00:02:33.53 cultural backgrounds, over 1500 different years, 00:02:33.56\00:02:37.32 3 different continents and it all coalesces 00:02:37.35\00:02:39.81 into one volume that we call the Bible, 00:02:39.84\00:02:42.12 which is really 66 different books. 00:02:42.15\00:02:44.32 And so when you're perusing this, 00:02:44.35\00:02:46.34 this volume it's not a-- it's not a normal book, 00:02:46.37\00:02:48.80 it's not an ordinary book. 00:02:48.83\00:02:51.10 It's unique and so therefore, 00:02:51.13\00:02:53.03 we must understand how to study this Bible. 00:02:53.06\00:02:55.68 And that's what we want to talk about today. 00:02:55.71\00:02:58.42 Well, I think it's neat that you're here 00:02:58.45\00:02:59.82 because we'd had Daniel 00:02:59.85\00:03:01.28 tell us how he came to the Lord in our last program 00:03:01.31\00:03:04.51 and I understand that there is a special story 00:03:04.54\00:03:06.60 about your baptisms. 00:03:06.63\00:03:08.72 Yes, actually I was in California, 00:03:08.75\00:03:12.03 baptized June 6th, I think it was or July 6th. 00:03:12.06\00:03:15.91 And he was baptized the 8th, 2 days apart. 00:03:15.94\00:03:18.52 He was in South Dakota and just a short time 00:03:18.55\00:03:20.79 afterwards the Lord brought us together. 00:03:20.82\00:03:22.25 And at that point we'd become best friends. 00:03:22.28\00:03:24.64 And I'd mentioned before that we wanted to work together. 00:03:24.67\00:03:27.09 So we prayed together that the Lord 00:03:27.12\00:03:28.49 would lead us together to work together. 00:03:28.52\00:03:30.63 And we've been best friends ever since. 00:03:30.66\00:03:32.35 So it's been quite a blessing. 00:03:32.38\00:03:34.21 Wonderful. Amen. 00:03:34.24\00:03:36.55 So, David, you're going to share with us some key principles 00:03:36.58\00:03:40.29 on how to study or how to learn the Bible. 00:03:40.32\00:03:44.03 Understand the Bible. Understand the Bible, okay. 00:03:44.06\00:03:45.89 We have five principles. 00:03:45.92\00:03:47.29 We've distilled it down to five principles, 00:03:47.32\00:03:49.36 that if you'll follow these five principles-- 00:03:49.39\00:03:51.98 they are principles that are actually derived 00:03:52.01\00:03:53.38 from the Bible itself. 00:03:53.41\00:03:54.88 And if we'll understand these five principles, 00:03:54.91\00:03:56.50 we will be able to arrive at an accurate understanding 00:03:56.53\00:03:58.98 of what the Bible is teaching. 00:03:59.01\00:04:01.14 I need to tell a little story. 00:04:01.17\00:04:02.54 This is how some people study the Bible. 00:04:02.57\00:04:03.94 Perhaps, you've heard of this before. 00:04:03.97\00:04:05.66 People will say, "Well, you know, 00:04:05.69\00:04:07.19 I'm in such a hurry in the mornings 00:04:07.22\00:04:08.79 that I just flip through and I just say, 'Lord, speak to me.'" 00:04:08.82\00:04:11.71 And they open it up and, you know, whatever the text is, 00:04:11.74\00:04:14.15 this is God's voice to them that day. 00:04:14.18\00:04:15.55 And I'm not discounting the fact that God can do that. 00:04:15.58\00:04:18.58 There's a little story, somebody studying the Bible and, 00:04:18.61\00:04:20.73 "Oh, Lord, I'm in a hurry, I just need a quick devotion" 00:04:20.76\00:04:23.24 and it says, "Judas hung himself." 00:04:23.27\00:04:25.75 Oh, this is not a particularly good devotion, 00:04:25.78\00:04:27.61 so he closes it and he... "Go thou and do likewise." 00:04:27.64\00:04:32.69 Oh, this is not a good study at all. 00:04:32.72\00:04:34.09 So he says, "Lord, I need-- 00:04:34.12\00:04:35.49 I really need you to give me a good devotion this morning." 00:04:35.52\00:04:36.95 So he goes one more time and it says, 00:04:36.98\00:04:38.35 "What thou doest, do quickly." 00:04:38.38\00:04:40.35 So this is not a legitimate way to study the Bible obviously. 00:04:40.38\00:04:43.98 And sadly, many people are employing 00:04:44.01\00:04:45.45 these same kinds of principles. 00:04:45.48\00:04:46.97 You know, we laugh at it. 00:04:47.00\00:04:48.37 It's clever, but people are employing 00:04:48.40\00:04:49.77 these kinds of happenstance principles 00:04:49.80\00:04:51.54 to understand the Bible. 00:04:51.57\00:04:53.23 The Bible as we have said is a unique book 00:04:53.26\00:04:55.50 and God has given us ways, 00:04:55.53\00:04:57.26 principles in which we can use to understand the Bible. 00:04:57.29\00:05:01.19 And these principles are derived from the Bible itself. 00:05:01.22\00:05:03.86 We'll give five principles as I've said. 00:05:03.89\00:05:05.50 And the first principle is this, I'm going to read here 00:05:05.53\00:05:08.36 if you'd like to look in your Bible, 00:05:08.39\00:05:09.76 it's in 2 Timothy 3:16, 00:05:09.79\00:05:15.04 2 Timothy 3:16. 00:05:15.07\00:05:21.63 The Bible says this, "All scripture is given 00:05:21.66\00:05:24.78 by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, 00:05:24.81\00:05:28.29 for reproof, for correction, 00:05:28.32\00:05:29.77 for instruction in righteousness 00:05:29.80\00:05:32.11 that the man of God may be perfect, 00:05:32.14\00:05:34.33 thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 00:05:34.36\00:05:37.64 And here we find the first key 00:05:37.67\00:05:39.99 that's going to help us to understand the Bible. 00:05:40.02\00:05:42.50 We need to understand that the Bible 00:05:42.53\00:05:43.90 makes an incredible claim about itself. 00:05:43.93\00:05:46.58 Prior to becoming a Christian 00:05:46.61\00:05:47.98 I studied into eastern religions. 00:05:48.01\00:05:50.31 I read a large portion of the Hindu holy book 00:05:50.34\00:05:52.65 call the Bhagavad-Gita as it is. 00:05:52.68\00:05:54.71 I've read large sections of the Koran. 00:05:54.74\00:05:56.14 I'm a voracious reader. 00:05:56.17\00:05:57.67 But I have learned that no other holy book 00:05:57.70\00:05:59.61 that I'm aware of makes the claim to be the word of God. 00:05:59.64\00:06:04.46 The Bible is unique and that it makes that claim. 00:06:04.49\00:06:08.65 Now just because it makes the claim 00:06:08.68\00:06:10.12 doesn't necessarily mean that it's true 00:06:10.15\00:06:12.33 but we have to treat this Book as a unique Book 00:06:12.36\00:06:14.37 just by virtue of the fact that it makes the claim. 00:06:14.40\00:06:17.06 Now the key passage here I wanted to look at is, 00:06:17.09\00:06:19.23 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God." 00:06:19.26\00:06:23.86 And the first principle that we derive from the Scripture itself 00:06:23.89\00:06:26.97 is that in order to understand the word of God 00:06:27.00\00:06:29.91 we must rely upon the author of the word of God 00:06:29.94\00:06:32.73 who according to this verse is God. 00:06:32.76\00:06:36.31 And that's the first principle, reliance upon God, 00:06:36.34\00:06:39.20 upon the Holy Spirit to lead us and to guide us. 00:06:39.23\00:06:42.57 And, Daniel, I know you're just charged up with the text here. 00:06:42.60\00:06:44.69 That's right. I want you to turn to John 16. 00:06:44.72\00:06:49.26 John 16 gives us one of those 00:06:49.29\00:06:52.05 principles of studying the Bible, 00:06:52.08\00:06:54.26 reliance upon the Spirit saying that 00:06:54.29\00:06:55.96 "all inspiration is given by"-- oh, I'm sorry-- 00:06:55.99\00:06:58.26 "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God." 00:06:58.29\00:07:00.87 The inspiration is, you know, by the Spirit 00:07:00.90\00:07:03.31 and in John 16:13, we read 00:07:03.34\00:07:06.62 "Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth is come, 00:07:06.65\00:07:10.33 He will guide you into all truth." 00:07:10.36\00:07:13.07 Not just some, but all truth. 00:07:13.10\00:07:14.47 And so the promise is that God will lead us 00:07:14.50\00:07:17.20 through His Spirit into truth. 00:07:17.23\00:07:20.88 We're also told that the Bible is truth, 00:07:20.91\00:07:22.94 "Your word is truth," it says in John 17:17. 00:07:22.97\00:07:25.74 But if we finish the text it says, 00:07:25.77\00:07:27.14 "For He shall not speak of Himself." 00:07:27.17\00:07:28.94 We learn in a few verses after and a few verses before, 00:07:28.97\00:07:31.86 he is speaking of Christ. 00:07:31.89\00:07:33.26 "But whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak 00:07:33.29\00:07:35.46 and He will show you things to come." 00:07:35.49\00:07:38.81 So the promise here is just really quite a blessing. 00:07:38.84\00:07:41.54 God's going to lead you through His Spirit into truth 00:07:41.57\00:07:43.86 but also reveal things to come. 00:07:43.89\00:07:46.33 And just as David said this is a unique Book. 00:07:46.36\00:07:48.70 This Book has promised not only to reveal the will of God 00:07:48.73\00:07:51.74 and lead us into truth, but things to come. 00:07:51.77\00:07:54.88 So we don't always have to be in darkness 00:07:54.91\00:07:56.93 not knowing the things or only knowing the things 00:07:56.96\00:07:59.39 that are behind and what are present 00:07:59.42\00:08:01.27 but God has promised also to reveal to us the future. 00:08:01.30\00:08:04.17 So before we even open the Book we can know that it's fact, 00:08:04.20\00:08:06.79 that it's coming from God 00:08:06.82\00:08:08.19 and that as we study God through the Holy Spirit, 00:08:08.22\00:08:12.78 His Holy Spirit will guide us. Amen. 00:08:12.81\00:08:15.15 And that's principle number one. 00:08:15.18\00:08:17.05 Because the Bible is a spiritual book, 00:08:17.08\00:08:19.42 we can't just come to it like we would come to any other 00:08:19.45\00:08:21.64 historical work or work of antiquity. 00:08:21.67\00:08:24.10 We need to come to this Book saying, 00:08:24.13\00:08:26.38 "Lord, you wrote the Book. Now teach me the book." 00:08:26.41\00:08:29.89 You know, He is going to be the best teacher 00:08:29.92\00:08:31.29 if He is the author. 00:08:31.32\00:08:32.72 I'm reading now from 2 Peter, 00:08:32.75\00:08:34.12 just quickly, chapter 1 verse 19. 00:08:34.15\00:08:36.36 He says, "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; 00:08:36.39\00:08:39.38 whereunto you do well that you take heed, 00:08:39.41\00:08:41.98 as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, 00:08:42.01\00:08:44.55 until the day dawn, and the day star 00:08:44.58\00:08:46.41 arise in your hearts knowing this first 00:08:46.44\00:08:48.91 that no prophecy of the Scripture 00:08:48.94\00:08:50.70 is of any private interpretation." 00:08:50.73\00:08:53.61 So it's not up to Karen to determine 00:08:53.64\00:08:55.03 what the Scripture says or David or even Daniel. 00:08:55.06\00:08:56.97 How can we be so sure that the Scripture 00:08:57.00\00:08:58.40 is not a private interpretation? 00:08:58.43\00:09:00.24 The next verse is the key. 00:09:00.27\00:09:01.76 He says, "For the prophecy came not in old time 00:09:01.79\00:09:05.36 by the will of man but holy men of God spake 00:09:05.39\00:09:10.10 as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." 00:09:10.13\00:09:14.32 So we've seen just three Scriptures 00:09:14.35\00:09:15.72 right as we get started here that the Holy Spirit is the one 00:09:15.75\00:09:18.49 who wrote the Bible through the prophets 00:09:18.52\00:09:20.83 but the Spirit was the one inspiring. 00:09:20.86\00:09:22.75 And so when we come to the word of God 00:09:22.78\00:09:24.15 principle number one is it's not David's intellectual prowess 00:09:24.18\00:09:28.10 or David's education that's going to help him 00:09:28.13\00:09:30.27 to understand the word of God 00:09:30.30\00:09:31.67 but it's going to be David's reliance 00:09:31.70\00:09:33.36 upon the author of the word of God. 00:09:33.39\00:09:35.49 That's principle number one. 00:09:35.52\00:09:36.89 You know, I think back on how you said how you met. 00:09:36.92\00:09:38.83 You know my brothers are David and Daniel as well. 00:09:38.86\00:09:41.38 And so here's a David, here's a Daniel 00:09:41.41\00:09:43.49 that are two worlds apart 00:09:43.52\00:09:44.89 but yet the Lord has brought them together. 00:09:44.92\00:09:46.61 So the same Holy Spirit and the same God 00:09:46.64\00:09:49.17 who can bring people together through circumstances 00:09:49.20\00:09:51.43 can guide us through His word as well. 00:09:51.46\00:09:52.94 Amen. That's right. 00:09:52.97\00:09:54.34 That's good. I like that. 00:09:54.37\00:09:56.65 Well, our second principle is not just 00:09:56.68\00:10:00.15 that the Spirit teaches us principle number one, 00:10:00.18\00:10:02.44 but the second principle is that the theme 00:10:02.47\00:10:04.83 of the entire Scripture from the beginning to the end 00:10:04.86\00:10:07.68 is actually Jesus Christ himself. 00:10:07.71\00:10:10.36 Jesus is the theme of the Scripture. 00:10:10.39\00:10:12.63 In fact, go to John 5. 00:10:12.66\00:10:16.61 John 5. 00:10:16.64\00:10:20.93 For those of you at home, that's in the New Testament, 00:10:20.96\00:10:23.02 that's the fourth gospel, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John. 00:10:23.05\00:10:26.91 John 5:39, 00:10:26.94\00:10:28.42 Jesus here is discussing some issues with the Pharisees. 00:10:28.45\00:10:33.23 These were the intelligent people of Jesus' day. 00:10:33.26\00:10:35.54 And Jesus says this in John 5:39, 00:10:35.57\00:10:38.46 He says, "Search the Scriptures." 00:10:38.49\00:10:41.58 And in the days of Jesus, of course, the Scriptures 00:10:41.61\00:10:43.27 would have been just Genesis to Malachi. 00:10:43.30\00:10:44.75 The New Testament would not yet have been written. 00:10:44.78\00:10:46.54 Jesus says, "Search the Old Testament." Why? 00:10:46.57\00:10:48.84 Why should we search it? 00:10:48.87\00:10:50.29 "For in them you think you have eternal life 00:10:50.32\00:10:54.20 and they are they which testify of Me." 00:10:54.23\00:10:59.53 So Jesus is saying, from Genesis all the writings of Moses, 00:10:59.56\00:11:03.42 all the way up through-- all of the chronicles 00:11:03.45\00:11:06.34 and the chronologies through the Kings, 00:11:06.37\00:11:07.81 through Samuel, all the way 00:11:07.84\00:11:09.21 through all the Old Testament prophets, 00:11:09.24\00:11:10.61 He says, all of those Scriptures 00:11:10.64\00:11:12.01 they testify of one central theme, 00:11:12.04\00:11:15.41 the pulsating bottom line of Scripture is Jesus. 00:11:15.44\00:11:19.26 So when we're going into the Bible, 00:11:19.29\00:11:21.00 we're looking not for little details here 00:11:21.03\00:11:23.27 and little idiosyncrasies here and little nuances here, 00:11:23.30\00:11:25.79 we're looking for the vast thing, Jesus. 00:11:25.82\00:11:29.60 You remind of me of another Scripture, David. 00:11:29.63\00:11:31.96 In Luke 24:25, 00:11:31.99\00:11:39.01 Jesus actually believed the same thing 00:11:39.04\00:11:41.48 that David was just talking about, 00:11:41.51\00:11:42.98 how that the whole entire Scripture refers to Himself. 00:11:43.01\00:11:45.58 He is the central theme. 00:11:45.61\00:11:46.98 And in verse 25 of Luke 24, it says, 00:11:47.01\00:11:49.43 "O fools, and slow of heart to believe 00:11:49.46\00:11:51.24 all that the prophets have spoken. 00:11:51.27\00:11:53.86 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, 00:11:53.89\00:11:56.40 and to enter into His glory?" 00:11:56.43\00:11:57.80 Verse 27, "Beginning at Moses and all the prophets, 00:11:57.83\00:12:02.71 He expounded unto them in all the Scriptures 00:12:02.74\00:12:06.38 the things concerning Himself." 00:12:06.41\00:12:09.04 And so from Moses, 00:12:09.07\00:12:10.44 just like David was talking about the Old Testament, 00:12:10.47\00:12:11.85 when He said search the Scriptures, 00:12:11.88\00:12:13.40 He's referring to Genesis to Malachi. 00:12:13.43\00:12:15.68 Jesus took Moses and all the prophets 00:12:15.71\00:12:17.90 and expounded or opened up, 00:12:17.93\00:12:19.85 unpacked the Scriptures about the things concerning Himself. 00:12:19.88\00:12:23.00 And, you know, that reminds me 00:12:23.03\00:12:24.52 of an illustration I'd like to teach. 00:12:24.55\00:12:27.32 When we're studying the Bible we should do something 00:12:27.35\00:12:29.63 what's called as Jesus said "expounding the Scriptures". 00:12:29.66\00:12:33.22 But I call it unpacking the Scriptures. 00:12:33.25\00:12:35.69 And it's much like you take a suitcase, okay. 00:12:35.72\00:12:38.34 You pop it open, you open it up and you see 00:12:38.37\00:12:40.10 that you've got in there a few folded items of clothing. 00:12:40.13\00:12:43.56 Well, you see a shirt there 00:12:43.59\00:12:44.96 and you don't really know the shirt much 00:12:44.99\00:12:46.36 because it's folded up. 00:12:46.39\00:12:47.76 So you take it and you unfold it a little bit here, 00:12:47.79\00:12:49.53 you unfold it a little bit there 00:12:49.56\00:12:50.93 and find it's a short sleeve shirt. 00:12:50.96\00:12:52.48 And then you unfold it here a little bit 00:12:52.51\00:12:54.05 and there's an emblem on it, "Jesus loves me," okay. 00:12:54.08\00:12:57.74 You unfold it again and you find it's a white shirt 00:12:57.77\00:12:59.89 with the emblem, "Jesus loves me." 00:12:59.92\00:13:01.29 You turn it over and it says "Jesus loves you too." 00:13:01.32\00:13:03.88 So now you know the full broad scope of this shirt. 00:13:03.91\00:13:06.65 Well, then you put it on, okay. 00:13:06.68\00:13:09.25 You go into your suitcase again 00:13:09.28\00:13:11.90 and pull out what looks like a pair of shorts, 00:13:11.93\00:13:14.61 but you unfold it and, or unpack it as it were 00:13:14.64\00:13:17.40 and it's all of a sudden a pair of pants with your, 00:13:17.43\00:13:20.53 you know, perfect pockets 00:13:20.56\00:13:21.93 and the kind that you like perfectly and just your size. 00:13:21.96\00:13:24.22 So you slip that one on too. 00:13:24.25\00:13:26.25 You do the same thing with the sweater, 00:13:26.28\00:13:28.03 do the same thing with the hat and all the other things. 00:13:28.06\00:13:29.78 You unpack them, find out all about them, 00:13:29.81\00:13:32.03 whether you like them or not, 00:13:32.06\00:13:33.43 if they fit and then you put them on. 00:13:33.46\00:13:35.33 In the same way, we should be able to take the Scriptures 00:13:35.36\00:13:39.16 and we should search the Scriptures 00:13:39.19\00:13:40.91 and expound everything, the things concerning to Christ. 00:13:40.94\00:13:44.15 And so you can take one Scripture, 00:13:44.18\00:13:46.32 any Scripture and pull the first word. 00:13:46.35\00:13:49.09 For instance, "For God so loved the world." 00:13:49.12\00:13:52.13 What does God mean? 00:13:52.16\00:13:53.71 Unfold that, make it big, 00:13:53.74\00:13:55.44 make it real, apply it to yourself. 00:13:55.47\00:13:58.91 For God so loved, 00:13:58.94\00:14:00.86 so is obviously an emphasis on loved. 00:14:00.89\00:14:03.19 What does love mean? 00:14:03.22\00:14:04.59 What does it mean to so love 00:14:04.62\00:14:05.99 in opposite of or in next to just loving. 00:14:06.02\00:14:08.84 And so you can unpack these things 00:14:08.87\00:14:10.24 and then put that article of word on. 00:14:10.27\00:14:13.58 And so really, it's the unpacking of the Scriptures 00:14:13.61\00:14:17.01 that's something that we should try 00:14:17.04\00:14:18.60 to do every time we study. 00:14:18.63\00:14:22.03 There's a point I wanted to say on that 00:14:22.06\00:14:23.77 and what Daniel is talking about is almost like 00:14:23.80\00:14:25.68 you would go into a laboratory and use a microscope. 00:14:25.71\00:14:28.69 Say you had a piece of tissue here, 00:14:28.72\00:14:31.48 you know, maybe it was a piece of skin or something 00:14:31.51\00:14:32.96 and you get under the microscope and you really peer in 00:14:32.99\00:14:35.69 and look at all of the details of what you're looking at 00:14:35.72\00:14:38.82 but there's not just a microscope involved here, 00:14:38.85\00:14:40.62 because if we were just spending all of our time 00:14:40.65\00:14:42.17 looking at the little minutia we wouldn't understand, 00:14:42.20\00:14:46.86 well, what is the big picture. 00:14:46.89\00:14:48.32 And so there's not just a microscope. 00:14:48.35\00:14:49.79 That's point number three by the way, Daniel. 00:14:49.82\00:14:51.98 There's a telescope. There's a telescope. 00:14:52.01\00:14:54.43 You see, we don't want to just stay 00:14:54.46\00:14:56.06 honed in on all the little words. 00:14:56.09\00:14:57.53 We have to do that. 00:14:57.56\00:14:58.93 But then we have to back away 00:14:58.96\00:15:00.33 and be sure that the conclusions 00:15:00.36\00:15:01.73 that we've reached from that text 00:15:01.76\00:15:03.70 agree with the conclusion of the entire Bible. 00:15:03.73\00:15:06.79 So point number one is reliance upon the Holy Spirit. 00:15:06.82\00:15:09.16 Point number two is that all of the Scriptures point to Jesus. 00:15:09.19\00:15:12.56 He's the central theme of Scripture. 00:15:12.59\00:15:13.96 Point number three is unpacking the Scripture, 00:15:13.99\00:15:15.89 letting every word have its proper bearing. 00:15:15.92\00:15:17.77 God so loved the world. 00:15:17.80\00:15:20.26 And point number four is that all of the conclusions 00:15:20.29\00:15:22.71 that we reach from a particular understanding of a verse 00:15:22.74\00:15:26.72 need to agree with what the other things 00:15:26.75\00:15:28.70 that the Bible says. 00:15:28.73\00:15:30.10 For example, you know, we did our little illustration, 00:15:30.13\00:15:31.79 you know, Judas hung himself. 00:15:31.82\00:15:33.19 Go thou and do likewise. What thou doest, do quickly. 00:15:33.22\00:15:35.32 Well, you could arrive at that conclusion 00:15:35.35\00:15:37.35 but that would not be a conclusion 00:15:37.38\00:15:38.75 that's consistent with the rest of Scripture. 00:15:38.78\00:15:41.20 In fact, look at the Book of Isaiah. 00:15:41.23\00:15:42.60 This is point number four here. 00:15:42.63\00:15:44.62 The Book of Isaiah is in the Old Testament, 00:15:44.65\00:15:47.47 not long after Psalms, through Proverbs, 00:15:47.50\00:15:49.81 through Ecclesiastes, through Song of Solomon 00:15:49.84\00:15:52.11 and you come to Isaiah 28. 00:15:52.14\00:15:56.55 Our fourth point here is a very important Scriptural point. 00:15:56.58\00:16:01.42 And Isaiah 28, beginning in verse 9 00:16:01.45\00:16:05.43 there's a question being asked here by the prophet Isaiah. 00:16:05.46\00:16:07.82 The question is this, "Whom shall He," that's God. 00:16:07.85\00:16:11.29 "Whom shall God teach knowledge? 00:16:11.32\00:16:14.22 And whom shall He make to understand doctrine? 00:16:14.25\00:16:17.28 Them that are weaned from the milk, 00:16:17.31\00:16:18.70 and drawn from the breasts." 00:16:18.73\00:16:20.45 In other words, God teaches His spiritual insights to those 00:16:20.48\00:16:23.10 who are desiring to be mature in the things of God. 00:16:23.13\00:16:26.62 Not just those that are babies, 00:16:26.65\00:16:28.21 you know, suckling from the mother's milk 00:16:28.24\00:16:30.44 but those that are interested in actually learning 00:16:30.47\00:16:32.38 and studying, the more, you'd say, spiritually mature. 00:16:32.41\00:16:34.69 Here's how He does it, verse 10, 00:16:34.72\00:16:36.86 "For precept must be upon precept, 00:16:36.89\00:16:39.54 precept upon precept, line upon line, 00:16:39.57\00:16:42.33 line upon line, here a little, and there a little." 00:16:42.36\00:16:46.84 You see, Karen, this is our fourth point. 00:16:46.87\00:16:49.30 God teaches us not just in one verse, 00:16:49.33\00:16:52.46 He teaches us many things out of a single verse 00:16:52.49\00:16:55.11 but what He teaches us in that single verse 00:16:55.14\00:16:56.99 needs to be consistent with what He shows us 00:16:57.02\00:16:58.82 in the rest of Scripture. How does He do that? 00:16:58.85\00:17:01.42 The Bible is internally consistent. 00:17:01.45\00:17:03.84 So what He says in Genesis is consistent 00:17:03.87\00:17:05.94 with what He says in Revelation. 00:17:05.97\00:17:07.34 What He says in Isaiah is consistent 00:17:07.37\00:17:09.18 with what He says here and there and so we bounce. 00:17:09.21\00:17:11.61 What does Isaiah say about it? 00:17:11.64\00:17:13.01 What does Jeremiah say about it? 00:17:13.04\00:17:14.54 What did the wise man Solomon say about it? 00:17:14.57\00:17:16.42 What did Samuel say about it? 00:17:16.45\00:17:17.92 What do all of the various Bible writers say about a given topic, 00:17:17.95\00:17:21.01 line upon line, precept upon precept, 00:17:21.04\00:17:23.60 here a little and there a little. 00:17:23.63\00:17:26.08 And one of the key ways that you can do that, 00:17:26.11\00:17:27.69 you know, we might have somebody sitting at home today saying, 00:17:27.72\00:17:29.33 well, how can I do that? 00:17:29.36\00:17:30.73 How can I go from here to there? 00:17:30.76\00:17:32.13 I don't know where to go. 00:17:32.16\00:17:33.53 I'll give you a key word that often comes 00:17:33.56\00:17:34.93 when we talk to people. Go ahead. 00:17:34.96\00:17:36.33 Wine in the Bible. Wine in the Bible. 00:17:36.36\00:17:37.76 How can I do a research on wine in the Bible? 00:17:37.79\00:17:40.23 Excellent. 00:17:40.26\00:17:41.63 If you wanted to do research on wine in the Bible, 00:17:41.66\00:17:44.14 what you would do is you'd go to your 00:17:44.17\00:17:45.54 local Christian book store, you'd pick up a book called 00:17:45.57\00:17:48.01 "A Strong's Exhaustive Concordance." 00:17:48.04\00:17:50.27 There are many different concordances 00:17:50.30\00:17:51.67 but the one I recommend is the Strong's Exhaustive. 00:17:51.70\00:17:53.86 It was compiled by a man named James Strong back in, 00:17:53.89\00:17:55.86 I think, 1600s. It's not a commentary. 00:17:55.89\00:17:58.55 It's a reference tool that lists alphabetically 00:17:58.58\00:18:00.93 every word that appears in Scripture. 00:18:00.96\00:18:02.89 So you go through the As, through the Bs, through the Cs 00:18:02.92\00:18:04.48 and you eventually come to the Ws and you'd look up wine. 00:18:04.51\00:18:06.79 And you'd have there all of the times 00:18:06.82\00:18:08.49 that wine occurs in the Bible. 00:18:08.52\00:18:10.07 So what you would do is, you'd say, 00:18:10.10\00:18:11.47 what was wine in the Bible in Genesis, 00:18:11.50\00:18:13.21 look up those references. 00:18:13.24\00:18:14.61 What was it in Exodus, look up those references. 00:18:14.64\00:18:16.01 What was it in all the way through 00:18:16.04\00:18:17.41 Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua 00:18:17.44\00:18:19.60 and as you looked up the totality 00:18:19.63\00:18:21.32 of what the Bible says about wine in all of the Scripture, 00:18:21.35\00:18:24.66 then you'd have a biblical understanding 00:18:24.69\00:18:27.02 of what the Bible teaches about wine. 00:18:27.05\00:18:30.33 That's the telescope. 00:18:30.36\00:18:31.87 Daniel talked about the microscope. 00:18:31.90\00:18:33.27 You might take one text that mentioned wine in it 00:18:33.30\00:18:35.45 and you'd unpack the Scripture and say, oh, okay. 00:18:35.48\00:18:37.69 So I understand what this is teaching. 00:18:37.72\00:18:39.16 But you better be sure that the conclusion 00:18:39.19\00:18:40.85 that you arrive at in your microscope 00:18:40.88\00:18:43.57 agrees with the telescope. You understand? 00:18:43.60\00:18:45.88 That's right. 00:18:45.91\00:18:47.28 If you're looking at a little cell tissue 00:18:47.31\00:18:49.03 here underneath the microscope, 00:18:49.06\00:18:50.56 when you pan out, you're looking at, 00:18:50.59\00:18:52.38 say, a cat or you're looking at-- 00:18:52.41\00:18:53.78 you don't know what you're looking at precisely 00:18:53.81\00:18:55.36 but as you pan out what you see panning out 00:18:55.39\00:18:57.97 always agrees with what you see panned in. 00:18:58.00\00:19:00.57 You're not adding anything new. 00:19:00.60\00:19:02.29 All of it has to agree and that's the fourth principle. 00:19:02.32\00:19:04.79 Biblical consistency and this is one of the great ways 00:19:04.82\00:19:08.40 that we can know that the Bible is inspired. 00:19:08.43\00:19:10.88 As we've suggested written by 37 different authors 00:19:10.91\00:19:14.05 on 3 continents over a period of 1500 different years 00:19:14.08\00:19:16.84 and yet they agree in every detail 00:19:16.87\00:19:19.51 and every specificity with one another. 00:19:19.54\00:19:21.67 I mean, this is incredible on, 00:19:21.70\00:19:23.07 no doubt, the most controversial subject 00:19:23.10\00:19:24.71 in all of human existence, God. That's right. 00:19:24.74\00:19:27.78 Total internal consistency and that's point number four. 00:19:27.81\00:19:30.74 And, you know, Jesus Christ even believed 00:19:30.77\00:19:32.74 in the consistency of the Bible 00:19:32.77\00:19:35.17 because we've already mentioned in Luke 24 00:19:35.20\00:19:37.71 where He went from Moses and expounded unto them 00:19:37.74\00:19:39.92 all the things concerning Himself 00:19:39.95\00:19:42.06 through all the prophets. 00:19:42.09\00:19:43.46 We also learnt that Paul did the same thing 00:19:43.49\00:19:44.98 if you read through Romans Chapter 3. 00:19:45.01\00:19:47.88 He basically took the Scriptures, 00:19:47.91\00:19:50.22 the Old Testament, took sections of Scripture, 00:19:50.25\00:19:53.36 compiled them into one section and taught us about 00:19:53.39\00:19:56.64 the depravity of man's human nature. 00:19:56.67\00:19:58.65 But there's another section of Scripture 00:19:58.68\00:20:00.42 that I'd like to turn to, 1 Corinthians Chapter 2 00:20:00.45\00:20:05.61 and referring to what David was talking about in Isaiah 28:10, 00:20:05.64\00:20:10.89 here a little, there a little, 00:20:10.92\00:20:12.29 line upon line, and precept upon precept. 00:20:12.32\00:20:13.69 We have the same thought in the New Testament, 00:20:13.72\00:20:15.11 1 Corinthians 2:13, 00:20:15.14\00:20:19.26 referring to the Spirit of God reveling to us 00:20:19.29\00:20:21.49 things that are unknown to normal people. 00:20:21.52\00:20:24.35 We are spiritual people. Verse 13. 00:20:24.38\00:20:26.17 "Which things also we speak, 00:20:26.20\00:20:28.28 not in the words which man's wisdom teaches 00:20:28.31\00:20:31.25 but which the Holy Ghost teaches, 00:20:31.28\00:20:33.84 comparing spiritual things with spiritual." 00:20:33.87\00:20:38.69 You know, one thing I like about the Bible 00:20:38.72\00:20:40.42 is that it is researched and intellectually sound. 00:20:40.45\00:20:47.28 The Bible has footnotes. 00:20:47.31\00:20:48.73 And like you were saying the Strong's Concordance, 00:20:48.76\00:20:51.38 well, isn't there a mini version of that in the Bible? 00:20:51.41\00:20:53.47 That's right, I appreciate you having said that. 00:20:53.50\00:20:55.75 In the center of many Bibles 00:20:55.78\00:20:57.79 you'll find between the two columns, 00:20:57.82\00:21:00.47 you'll have a kind of a reference point here. 00:21:00.50\00:21:03.42 And this is what's call the marginal reference. 00:21:03.45\00:21:05.53 Let's see if we can get a picture of it. 00:21:05.56\00:21:06.93 Sometimes it's called the center column reference. 00:21:06.96\00:21:09.70 Just turn your Bible around there and let's see if-- 00:21:09.73\00:21:11.21 In that center column reference that you have right here, 00:21:11.24\00:21:14.46 basically what you have is, 00:21:14.49\00:21:16.76 for example, here's a bold, Chapter 1:2. 00:21:16.79\00:21:19.95 And these are going to the other Scriptures 00:21:19.98\00:21:21.85 that reference the same topic 00:21:21.88\00:21:23.72 that you're dealing with in this Scripture. 00:21:23.75\00:21:25.59 Now this becomes very, very helpful for you especially, 00:21:25.62\00:21:27.81 if you're not extremely learned 00:21:27.84\00:21:29.63 in the things of the word of God. 00:21:29.66\00:21:31.19 When you first come, you pick up the Bible 00:21:31.22\00:21:33.06 and you can just go to any place. 00:21:33.09\00:21:34.46 You pick it up and as you read this verse, 00:21:34.49\00:21:36.30 then you have, say, here four or five or six other Scriptures 00:21:36.33\00:21:39.12 that are going to reference similar topics 00:21:39.15\00:21:41.41 like wine or angels or hell or death or love, 00:21:41.44\00:21:45.88 any of these topics and you can just bounce back and forth. 00:21:45.91\00:21:48.98 A marginal reference here, a reference here, 00:21:49.01\00:21:51.04 a reference here, a reference here, 00:21:51.07\00:21:52.44 a reference here, a reference here. 00:21:52.47\00:21:53.84 This is a systematic way to go through the Bible 00:21:53.87\00:21:56.12 and be sure that the conclusions that you are arriving at, 00:21:56.15\00:21:58.22 lead by the Spirit, looking for Jesus, 00:21:58.25\00:22:01.07 unpacking the individual words, 00:22:01.10\00:22:02.93 allowing the totality of Scripture 00:22:02.96\00:22:04.62 to have its bearing upon Genesis to Revelation, 00:22:04.65\00:22:07.91 all of it making the same sense together, 00:22:07.94\00:22:10.29 a unified document, these are the first four principles. 00:22:10.32\00:22:13.21 If you follow these, you can be sure that the conclusions 00:22:13.24\00:22:15.44 that you're arriving at are accurate 00:22:15.47\00:22:17.49 and most of all biblical conclusions. 00:22:17.52\00:22:21.50 That's very interesting. 00:22:21.53\00:22:22.90 Now can you give us a practical example of how to do this? 00:22:22.93\00:22:26.16 I think so. 00:22:26.19\00:22:27.56 In my marginal reference here, for example, the scripture 00:22:27.59\00:22:29.00 that Daniel just read to us in 1 Corinthians 2:13. 00:22:29.03\00:22:32.67 The verse is "Which things also we speak, 00:22:32.70\00:22:34.61 not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth 00:22:34.64\00:22:37.07 but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, 00:22:37.10\00:22:38.91 comparing spiritual things with spiritual." 00:22:38.94\00:22:40.99 Now as I look at my marginal reference here 00:22:41.02\00:22:42.81 it refers me to Chapter 1 of that same book, 00:22:42.84\00:22:46.07 verse 17, "For Christ sent me not to baptize, 00:22:46.10\00:22:49.17 but to preach the gospel not with wisdom of words, 00:22:49.20\00:22:52.60 lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." 00:22:52.63\00:22:54.85 And clearly here the marginal reference 00:22:54.88\00:22:56.25 is on that word wisdom. 00:22:56.28\00:22:57.86 So we learn over here that we're not looking for man's wisdom, 00:22:57.89\00:23:00.59 we're looking for the wisdom that God teaches 00:23:00.62\00:23:01.99 by comparing spiritual with spiritual. 00:23:02.02\00:23:03.90 Paul over here further elaborates 00:23:03.93\00:23:05.93 on the idea of man's wisdom and how it's insufficient 00:23:05.96\00:23:08.35 to lead us to a correct understanding 00:23:08.38\00:23:09.75 of the word of God. 00:23:09.78\00:23:11.15 Now if you would enlarge upon that even further. 00:23:11.18\00:23:12.65 What does the New Testament have to say about man's wisdom? 00:23:12.68\00:23:15.90 What does the New Testament have to say 00:23:15.93\00:23:17.30 about God's wisdom, the two? 00:23:17.33\00:23:18.70 What does the whole Bible have to say about wisdom? 00:23:18.73\00:23:20.13 And as you bring that microscope and pan out, 00:23:20.16\00:23:22.03 pan out, pan out, pan out, 00:23:22.06\00:23:23.59 you're going to have a very biblical understanding 00:23:23.62\00:23:25.13 of man's wisdom versus God's wisdom. 00:23:25.16\00:23:27.82 There's never an ending to learning God's word, is there? 00:23:27.85\00:23:30.69 Amen. I love that. 00:23:30.72\00:23:32.09 And there's an important point 00:23:32.12\00:23:33.49 that I need to make on this and that is this, 00:23:33.52\00:23:35.43 many of the Bibles that people have today are called, 00:23:35.46\00:23:37.51 maybe you've heard of this before, study Bibles. 00:23:37.54\00:23:40.45 And what this means is basically, 00:23:40.48\00:23:41.85 you go into a bookstore, a Christian bookstore 00:23:41.88\00:23:43.35 and they'll have a study Bible. 00:23:43.38\00:23:45.14 I've seen the women's study Bible 00:23:45.17\00:23:46.80 and the men's study Bible 00:23:46.83\00:23:48.20 and even the African-American study Bible, 00:23:48.23\00:23:50.09 the prophesy study Bible, the father study Bible. 00:23:50.12\00:23:52.37 What that means is, is that man has now 00:23:52.40\00:23:54.95 put his comments onto what the word of God says. 00:23:54.98\00:23:58.02 Now those are not all bad in that. 00:23:58.05\00:23:59.90 Somebody has done a study but then that-- 00:23:59.93\00:24:01.91 we have not done a study, right? That's exactly right. 00:24:01.94\00:24:03.93 It's not that these things are bad necessarily. 00:24:03.96\00:24:05.75 However, we need to be very careful to understand 00:24:05.78\00:24:08.36 that somebody else's conclusions 00:24:08.39\00:24:10.40 might not be the right conclusion 00:24:10.43\00:24:12.37 or the biblical conclusion. 00:24:12.40\00:24:13.77 So I just--there's a warning. There's a caution there. 00:24:13.80\00:24:15.80 Nothing against study Bibles as such, 00:24:15.83\00:24:17.86 but be sure that the conclusions that you are drawing 00:24:17.89\00:24:19.98 are the conclusions that God's wisdom has taught you, 00:24:20.01\00:24:23.17 not what man's wisdom has taught. 00:24:23.20\00:24:24.74 And the best way to do that is to study for ourselves. 00:24:24.77\00:24:26.49 That's exactly right. 00:24:26.52\00:24:27.89 Following the principles that we've been 00:24:27.92\00:24:29.29 speaking of right now. You've got it. 00:24:29.32\00:24:31.88 So we've got our four principles. 00:24:31.91\00:24:33.28 Principle number one is that we rely totally upon the Spirit. 00:24:33.31\00:24:36.02 Principle number two is that Christ 00:24:36.05\00:24:37.42 is the great central theme of the Scriptures. 00:24:37.45\00:24:39.77 Principle number three is unpacking 00:24:39.80\00:24:41.18 all of the particularities, the words, 00:24:41.21\00:24:43.23 the nuances of an individual verse or passage. 00:24:43.26\00:24:46.10 Point number four is that all of what we learn 00:24:46.13\00:24:48.11 has to be internally consistent so it doesn't-- 00:24:48.14\00:24:50.75 the Bible doesn't teach that black is white on this side 00:24:50.78\00:24:52.83 and white is black on this side. 00:24:52.86\00:24:54.23 It's always black is black and white is white. 00:24:54.26\00:24:55.73 It's internally consistent. 00:24:55.76\00:24:57.37 And point number five, Karen, is a very important one. 00:24:57.40\00:25:00.74 And it has to do with application. 00:25:00.77\00:25:03.21 When God teaches us something in His word 00:25:03.24\00:25:05.56 it might require a change in the way we're living, 00:25:05.59\00:25:07.96 the way we're conducting ourselves, 00:25:07.99\00:25:09.36 the way we think, the way we move, 00:25:09.39\00:25:11.96 the way we breath, the way we live, 00:25:11.99\00:25:13.36 the way we talk. It might require a change. 00:25:13.39\00:25:16.16 And if it does, we need to be willing to do 00:25:16.19\00:25:18.82 what God has shown us. 00:25:18.85\00:25:20.65 And I think Daniel has a Scripture here 00:25:20.68\00:25:22.05 that he's just desiring to show us. I do. 00:25:22.08\00:25:24.54 and this is a blessed passage, 00:25:24.57\00:25:29.04 one that I took very-- made very close attention to 00:25:29.07\00:25:33.10 when I became a Christian. 00:25:33.13\00:25:34.50 It says in verse 19, "If you be willing and obedient, 00:25:34.53\00:25:38.91 you shall eat of the good of the land." 00:25:38.94\00:25:41.04 And so applying everything that you have learned 00:25:41.07\00:25:44.83 as a result of Bible study, 00:25:44.86\00:25:46.23 at the end of your study, make it-- 00:25:46.26\00:25:47.80 You know, being willing like you said, I think that's key. 00:25:47.83\00:25:50.25 Anytime you go into a new exercise, 00:25:50.28\00:25:53.28 into a new job or for a new class even, 00:25:53.31\00:25:57.38 you have to be willing to be taught. 00:25:57.41\00:26:00.11 You have to have a teachable spirit. That's right. 00:26:00.14\00:26:02.20 And surely we need to have that as we open God's word, 00:26:02.23\00:26:05.12 wouldn't you say? That's right. 00:26:05.15\00:26:06.74 And be willing to do the things that God shows us. 00:26:06.77\00:26:09.31 I'll just quote you a beautiful Scripture in John 7:17. 00:26:09.34\00:26:12.92 Jesus says, "If any man will to do his will, 00:26:12.95\00:26:16.42 he shall know of the doctrine, 00:26:16.45\00:26:18.10 whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." 00:26:18.13\00:26:20.64 Jesus says if you want to know the will of God 00:26:20.67\00:26:23.04 you must first be willing to follow the will of God. 00:26:23.07\00:26:25.90 See, God is not just showing us things in the Bible 00:26:25.93\00:26:27.48 to satisfy our insatiable curiosity for understanding, 00:26:27.51\00:26:30.76 and for wisdom, and for knowledge. 00:26:30.79\00:26:32.17 When God reveals something to us 00:26:32.20\00:26:33.93 He wants us to follow it, to love it, to believe it, 00:26:33.96\00:26:36.70 to live it and that's principle number five. 00:26:36.73\00:26:39.18 What God has shown let us walk in. 00:26:39.21\00:26:41.80 You know, my dad he used to say things to me, 00:26:41.83\00:26:43.20 he'd say, "David, I want you to clean your room." 00:26:43.23\00:26:45.32 He wasn't telling me just to clean my room 00:26:45.35\00:26:46.72 from my understanding, 00:26:46.75\00:26:48.12 he wanted me to clean my room. 00:26:48.15\00:26:49.52 And so it's not just that we look at what God had said. 00:26:49.55\00:26:51.75 Oh, this is neat. God has said "that does so is sin." 00:26:51.78\00:26:54.89 Well, that's great. Now I know that it's sin. 00:26:54.92\00:26:57.91 God says it's sin and if you're involved in it, 00:26:57.94\00:27:00.70 why don't you depart from it? Why don't you leave it? 00:27:00.73\00:27:03.00 And a willingness to follow what God has shown us, 00:27:03.03\00:27:05.74 this makes all the difference. 00:27:05.77\00:27:07.14 God will teach those people who are willing to obey, 00:27:07.17\00:27:09.96 who are willing to listen, who are willing to learn, 00:27:09.99\00:27:11.99 who are willing to follow 00:27:12.02\00:27:13.46 and that's principle number five. 00:27:13.49\00:27:14.86 Let us apply the principles that we've seen. 00:27:14.89\00:27:16.65 Well, let us pray and ask the Holy Spirit 00:27:16.68\00:27:18.25 to help us all as we study God's word to listen 00:27:18.28\00:27:22.36 to the voice of the Holy Spirit as He teaches us. 00:27:22.39\00:27:24.92 Will you offer a prayer for us please, David? I'd love to. 00:27:24.95\00:27:27.46 Our great Father in heaven, 00:27:27.49\00:27:29.30 we rejoice to see today that You have revealed to us principles, 00:27:29.33\00:27:33.65 Father, derived from Your word 00:27:33.68\00:27:35.36 that will enable us to understand Your word. 00:27:35.39\00:27:38.45 Lord, what a blessed privilege we have 00:27:38.48\00:27:40.07 that You have given us this special Book 00:27:40.10\00:27:42.24 and we ask now that as people that have been listening, 00:27:42.27\00:27:44.50 they've learned these principles, 00:27:44.53\00:27:45.90 they see that they are biblical, 00:27:45.93\00:27:47.30 as they go to study their Bibles, 00:27:47.33\00:27:48.70 we pray that You will send Your Holy Spirit 00:27:48.73\00:27:50.32 to guide them into all truth 00:27:50.35\00:27:51.72 as you've promised in John 16:13. 00:27:51.75\00:27:54.19 We love you, Lord, and we thank you for Your word 00:27:54.22\00:27:56.14 and we thank you that you have today taught us how to study, 00:27:56.17\00:27:59.48 In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. 00:27:59.51\00:28:02.88
