Hello! Home remedies are quite effective and very inexpensive. 00:00:01.98\00:00:07.52 I like that kind of remedy one who has the two very major 00:00:07.55\00:00:12.91 aspects of the healing process in them, in expense and 00:00:12.94\00:00:17.15 effectiveness, so we are going to be talking about 00:00:17.18\00:00:19.61 Home Remedies, I think you will enjoy learning about 00:00:19.64\00:00:22.78 some of these things that can be used for the vast majority 00:00:22.81\00:00:27.02 of ailments that afflict people in their homes today 00:00:27.05\00:00:31.31 so join us for this program. 00:00:31.34\00:00:33.69 Welcome to Help Yourself to Health 00:00:53.37\00:00:55.79 with Dr. Agatha Thrash of Uchee Pines Institute 00:00:55.82\00:00:59.06 and now here is your host Dr. Thrash. 00:00:59.09\00:01:02.16 Not only are home remedies inexpensive, but most anybody 00:01:02.19\00:01:11.64 can do them, and I would like to show you some home remedies 00:01:11.67\00:01:14.58 now that I have found to be quite effective and I enjoy 00:01:14.61\00:01:18.92 very much showing people about these, because I know that 00:01:18.95\00:01:23.03 they will do the work that I need them to do 00:01:23.06\00:01:27.10 and that I can even tell people on the telephone how to do them. 00:01:27.13\00:01:31.47 Let me just show this one to you of how to make a 00:01:31.50\00:01:35.66 fungus fighter. 00:01:35.69\00:01:37.74 Now at Uchee Pines we have some people who make the 00:01:37.77\00:01:41.28 fungus fighter as a cottage industry and sell it. 00:01:41.31\00:01:45.67 They sell it in this kind of bottle with a label on it 00:01:45.70\00:01:49.91 and this kind of bottle is very easy to find, you can come 00:01:49.94\00:01:55.30 by this from an empty bottle that you had something else in 00:01:55.33\00:01:59.91 or you can simply buy one from a department store and 00:01:59.94\00:02:03.44 use that, but let me show you how to make this very nice 00:02:03.47\00:02:07.66 little remedy 00:02:07.69\00:02:09.43 It depends on an herb called Calendula and you can see 00:02:09.46\00:02:17.14 the Calendula flowers here, these are the pedals 00:02:17.17\00:02:18.14 and sometimes you will get the flower heads as well 00:02:18.17\00:02:23.61 these come from a health food store or from an herb shop 00:02:23.64\00:02:27.18 and the little flower, the little plant grows 00:02:27.21\00:02:30.45 in people's gardens and you might even gather some fresh 00:02:30.48\00:02:36.90 and the time to gather them if you do, they are a common 00:02:36.93\00:02:40.18 little plant, in little flower beds. 00:02:40.21\00:02:42.76 They look like marigolds and so you just gather the entire 00:02:42.79\00:02:49.36 head when it is at it's biggest flower point. 00:02:49.39\00:02:56.73 So let me show you how to do this, you measure out one cup 00:02:56.76\00:03:01.09 and put that in a jar such as this, usually a jar with a 00:03:01.12\00:03:05.92 very broad top is the best and then you have about this much 00:03:05.95\00:03:14.45 in the jar, then you need Myrrh. 00:03:14.48\00:03:18.01 Now myrrh comes from overseas generally it's a part of the 00:03:18.04\00:03:23.47 Myrtle plant and you can see that this is a powder and it 00:03:23.50\00:03:27.54 smells quite fragrant I think, I like the smell of it and this 00:03:27.57\00:03:33.08 powder in only one of it's forms, you can also get it as 00:03:33.11\00:03:37.69 a crystalline material or you can get myrrh as a tincture. 00:03:37.72\00:03:44.58 And any way that you use it it is 1. It is two cups of the 00:03:44.61\00:03:51.60 calendula, one quarter cup of the myrrh then pour enough 00:03:51.63\00:03:58.80 vinegar on top of it to fully cover it. 00:03:58.83\00:04:03.03 So let me show you how the myrrh is simply added to the 00:04:03.06\00:04:07.55 same jar that you are going to use... this is a quarter cup 00:04:07.58\00:04:11.65 so it's a quarter the amount of the herb that you use 00:04:11.68\00:04:17.96 in the myrrh, this is added to the jar as you see here 00:04:17.99\00:04:23.10 once that has been added then the next part is the vinegar. 00:04:23.13\00:04:27.56 This can be either white vinegar or it can be brown vinegar 00:04:27.59\00:04:31.59 either way it doesn't matter, the thing that you want 00:04:31.62\00:04:35.20 is that it be at least 3% acidity, this happens to be 5% 00:04:35.23\00:04:42.41 and that is quite good I like the 5%, then you simply cover 00:04:42.44\00:04:48.01 the herbs that you have added there so that the vinegar 00:04:48.04\00:04:52.61 entirely fills the jar, or at least covers the herb, 00:04:52.64\00:04:59.03 and as you can see it's sort of nice to make it near a sink 00:04:59.06\00:05:03.07 because it can be a bit messy especially if you are doing it 00:05:03.10\00:05:07.12 for your first time. 00:05:07.15\00:05:08.79 Then be sure it is all wet and it doesn't matter if you 00:05:08.82\00:05:12.79 have a little extra vinegar because just to let you know 00:05:12.82\00:05:17.34 that vinegar itself is also a fungus fighter, 00:05:17.37\00:05:20.04 and this looks quite nice even when you are making it up 00:05:20.07\00:05:24.21 yet we don't have enough vinegar, so we will continue to 00:05:24.24\00:05:29.46 pour until it is quite liquid and there is some extra space 00:05:29.49\00:05:35.90 above now it's beginning to reach the proper consistency 00:05:35.93\00:05:42.62 but I'll add just a bit more so that you can see how this 00:05:42.65\00:05:46.56 very useful product can be something that you can keep 00:05:46.59\00:05:52.36 easily around your home to fight a fungus with in case 00:05:52.39\00:05:57.62 somebody gets a fungus. 00:05:57.65\00:05:59.75 Now you can see about what the consistency should be 00:05:59.78\00:06:04.40 and if it has flower heads in it that is fine too 00:06:04.43\00:06:07.84 you don't mind a bit if it has flower heads in it. 00:06:07.87\00:06:10.59 Simply cover it, and the reason to cover it is that it has 00:06:10.62\00:06:16.61 a way of giving it's fragrance to your entire kitchen 00:06:16.64\00:06:21.04 and you would be just as happy that you just have food smells 00:06:21.07\00:06:25.65 from the kitchen and not herb smells as well, 00:06:25.68\00:06:29.09 it doesn't smell as if it would be something that you would eat 00:06:29.12\00:06:32.84 but I think it does smell quite fragrant. 00:06:32.87\00:06:35.90 Now once you let it set for two weeks you should stir it 00:06:35.93\00:06:42.57 every day, or if you can't stir it every day then let it set 00:06:42.60\00:06:46.08 for about three weeks, then strain it and you will have a 00:06:46.11\00:06:50.85 product that looks like this. 00:06:50.88\00:06:52.78 Now this product is very helpful for any kind of fungus 00:06:52.81\00:06:58.12 it's even helpful for dandruff which sometimes has a 00:06:58.15\00:07:02.41 superficial fungus as a part of the itching process. 00:07:02.44\00:07:06.55 But it's most effective for athlete's foot and very 00:07:06.58\00:07:13.00 effective for fungus toenail. 00:07:13.03\00:07:16.67 now fungus toenail also has a standard treatment, 00:07:16.70\00:07:20.81 but the medicine in quite toxic, so I don't recommend that 00:07:20.84\00:07:24.31 you take the medicine but rather that you get this because 00:07:24.34\00:07:27.19 it will be just as effective as the medicine. 00:07:27.22\00:07:30.30 Now the treatment time is one year or until the fungus toenail 00:07:30.33\00:07:37.00 has grown all the way out, keep it trimmed all the time 00:07:37.03\00:07:40.57 so that you can tell how much is growing out. 00:07:40.60\00:07:43.43 It starts growing out pink within three or four weeks 00:07:43.46\00:07:46.66 and you are encouraged to keep on with the one year 00:07:46.69\00:07:51.36 of the treatment. 00:07:51.39\00:07:52.36 The reason it takes so long is that that nail is infected 00:07:52.37\00:07:56.49 with the fungus, and this is not a fungicidal, it is only 00:07:56.52\00:08:01.81 an inhibitor of the growth of fungus, so it keeps it from 00:08:01.84\00:08:06.15 growing in the fresh part that is growing out. 00:08:06.18\00:08:08.98 So I hope that will help you when you need a good 00:08:09.01\00:08:13.17 fungus fighter. 00:08:13.20\00:08:14.23 Now I have asked Rhonda Clark to join me today, she is one of 00:08:14.26\00:08:19.24 our colleagues at Uchee Pines, welcome Rhonda! 00:08:19.27\00:08:21.92 - I'm glad to be here. - I see from the equipment 00:08:21.95\00:08:24.60 that you have, that you are going to show us how to treat 00:08:24.63\00:08:28.21 arthritis and arthritic hand. 00:08:28.24\00:08:30.30 - Oh yes! When I was a student at Uchee Pines we were learning 00:08:30.33\00:08:33.33 various treatments, hydro- therapy and other types of 00:08:33.36\00:08:35.88 home remedies and this is one of my very favorites 00:08:35.91\00:08:38.70 it feels wonderful. 00:08:38.73\00:08:39.88 - And it makes the skin feel so nice too. 00:08:39.91\00:08:42.23 - Oh, it does, if you have aching joints in your hand or 00:08:42.26\00:08:46.62 other places on your body, using warm very warm paraffin 00:08:46.65\00:08:51.38 is a lovely treatment I'm going to be demonstrating today 00:08:51.41\00:08:54.41 a paraffin bath, a paraffin treatment for the hand, 00:08:54.44\00:08:57.50 this is so nice if you have arthritic fingers that hurt you 00:08:57.53\00:09:01.34 and I have asked Miss Arianna Hartsfield to come and be 00:09:01.37\00:09:05.26 my patient so I can demonstrate this treatment on her. 00:09:05.29\00:09:08.21 The paraffin treatment is done, and the melted paraffin is put 00:09:08.24\00:09:16.22 in a special container that keeps it at a constant heat 00:09:16.25\00:09:20.63 and the ideal temperature is around 125- 135 degrees 00:09:20.66\00:09:26.51 you can test this yourself if you want to make your own 00:09:26.54\00:09:30.06 paraffin treatment at home. 00:09:30.09\00:09:31.98 An old slow cooker, for example what I have here, 00:09:32.01\00:09:36.28 this would be an example of a slow cooker you might find 00:09:36.31\00:09:39.75 at a yard sale or a good will store, if it has a setting for 00:09:39.78\00:09:45.50 low, which you can see this one has a setting for low 00:09:45.53\00:09:48.53 that I have placed this on, this might be just the right 00:09:48.56\00:09:52.71 temperature, but to be safe use a thermometer that will 00:09:52.74\00:09:55.66 reach at least 150°, and you can keep the paraffin then at a 00:09:55.69\00:10:01.44 safe temperature, 125°-135°. 00:10:01.47\00:10:04.11 The paraffin that is used is just the same type of paraffin 00:10:04.14\00:10:07.21 that we use in canning and you can find that where you buy 00:10:07.24\00:10:10.98 canning supplies but it does need one other ingredient in it 00:10:11.01\00:10:14.47 and that is mineral oil, and a formula that we use, 00:10:14.50\00:10:17.87 it's what I've used in the tub that we will be doing our 00:10:17.90\00:10:20.01 demonstration on today is 5 lbs paraffin and then 00:10:20.04\00:10:24.12 1/2- 1 pint of mineral oil, I want to make sure I give you 00:10:24.15\00:10:28.97 the correct recipe. 00:10:29.00\00:10:30.06 So Arianna if you will raise your sleeve for me... 00:10:30.09\00:10:33.61 The purpose of the treatment as the paraffin gets on the skin 00:10:33.64\00:10:38.59 you'll see it leaves a layer of the paraffin left on the 00:10:38.62\00:10:41.95 skin and that helps not only make it feel very warm when 00:10:41.98\00:10:45.45 it goes on but helps hold in the heat which feels so nice 00:10:45.48\00:10:48.98 on those arthritic joints. 00:10:49.01\00:10:50.34 And the very first dipping.. - You want to be sure that your 00:10:50.37\00:10:53.94 sleeve doesn't get in it because it can leave the sleeve 00:10:53.97\00:10:58.32 permanently oily. 00:10:58.35\00:10:59.79 The first dip down into the paraffin should be rather deep 00:10:59.82\00:11:04.86 so all the way to the bottom and lift it back up and 00:11:04.89\00:11:08.61 let that layer cool, you can see immediately how quickly 00:11:08.64\00:11:11.89 it starts to dry and solidify, and as it begins to dry 00:11:11.92\00:11:15.85 you'll do another dip. 00:11:15.88\00:11:17.52 Does that feel nice and warm there Arianna? 00:11:17.55\00:11:20.91 The goal is to actually build up quite a big hand, 00:11:20.94\00:11:27.57 quite a number of layers of the paraffin, again as they cool 00:11:27.60\00:11:31.16 dip again, and this is where it feels so wonderful 00:11:31.19\00:11:36.49 the heat is just sinking into the hand, into those sore joints 00:11:36.52\00:11:41.82 it just feels so good, we'll do one more dip. 00:11:41.85\00:11:45.04 At home if you are doing this yourself, you will do more dips 00:11:45.07\00:11:48.69 you can see already how her hand is looking much bigger 00:11:48.72\00:11:51.28 but you will do several dips until everything is very well 00:11:51.31\00:11:54.76 coated, it's important not to move as you are doing that 00:11:54.79\00:11:58.20 so that you don't get little cracks and bends in the 00:11:58.23\00:12:00.89 paraffin, you want to keep it intact as you can. 00:12:00.92\00:12:03.55 After this looks as if this last dip has dried a bit 00:12:03.58\00:12:07.90 then you will wrap the hand in a towel to help hold in the 00:12:07.93\00:12:11.58 heat, and so you've got your hand there Arianna 00:12:11.61\00:12:14.89 we'll just wrap it in the towel and then relax and rest 00:12:14.92\00:12:20.56 and let that heat sink in, unfortunately very soon 00:12:20.59\00:12:26.44 you'll find it beginning to cool and you know the treatment 00:12:26.47\00:12:29.26 will be coming to an end and as that happens the paraffin 00:12:29.29\00:12:33.49 comes from the skin so nicely, we'll show here how then you 00:12:33.52\00:12:39.11 just peel the paraffin back off and if you do your hands 00:12:39.14\00:12:46.38 very clean before the treatment, if you wash your hands very well 00:12:46.41\00:12:51.01 before the treatment, this used paraffin can actually be 00:12:51.04\00:12:53.98 just placed right back in to the paraffin wax to continue to be 00:12:54.01\00:12:57.81 reused, recycled so to speak and the hand will feel warm 00:12:57.84\00:13:03.55 you can see that the skin is a little pinker and very soft 00:13:03.58\00:13:07.69 it's a lovely treatment for the skin. 00:13:07.72\00:13:10.44 In addition to arthritis I think this can be used for bursitis, 00:13:10.47\00:13:14.57 strains, aches, pains. 00:13:14.60\00:13:16.67 - Right! It can even be painted on to shoulders and 00:13:16.70\00:13:19.94 other places. - Yeah! Joints that you can't 00:13:19.97\00:13:21.54 reach or dip very easily in this and so, thank you Arianna 00:13:21.57\00:13:26.81 and I thank you Dr. Thrash I appreciated the opportunity 00:13:26.84\00:13:28.72 to tell a little bit about this treatment today. 00:13:28.75\00:13:30.63 - Very good, and while Arianna is here beside me 00:13:30.66\00:13:34.47 I would like show another treatment that Arianna can 00:13:34.50\00:13:38.91 help me with and this is an onion poultice. 00:13:38.94\00:13:41.18 Now the onion poultices can be placed many places, 00:13:41.21\00:13:45.28 one place that the ancients used to use it for is on the chest 00:13:45.31\00:13:49.78 for bronchitis and pneumonia and it can be effectively used 00:13:49.81\00:13:54.42 there is as a way to help with the resolution of pneumonia. 00:13:54.45\00:14:00.66 But I have here an onion material that is just chopped 00:14:00.70\00:14:07.21 onion and I'm going to make a very dainty poultice with 00:14:07.24\00:14:09.88 onion, but most of the time you will two or three onions 00:14:09.91\00:14:13.34 so that you can make for the chest or for the abdomen 00:14:13.37\00:14:17.11 quite a large compress can also be used in infections 00:14:17.14\00:14:22.01 such as ulcers on the legs, diabetic ulcers on the legs. 00:14:22.04\00:14:28.56 These things are very nicely treated with the onion so 00:14:28.59\00:14:33.71 I would like just to show you a nice dainty onion compress 00:14:33.74\00:14:39.86 and we'll just make one here on the top of Arianna's hand 00:14:39.89\00:14:43.16 assuming that she has something like an ulcer, so you just put 00:14:43.19\00:14:47.46 the onion material that has been cooked a bit, 00:14:47.49\00:14:50.96 so you just put it right on the place, would you hold your 00:14:50.99\00:14:54.58 sleeve right there just a little bit and then I can get this 00:14:54.61\00:14:59.52 on without making your clothing smell as if you have been in an 00:14:59.55\00:15:05.87 onion patch. 00:15:05.90\00:15:07.03 Now as soon as you get the onion piled on and it's piled 00:15:07.06\00:15:13.16 on generously, then you just put a cloth over that 00:15:13.19\00:15:20.52 and if you would hold that for me for a moment and then 00:15:20.55\00:15:24.75 you just take a little kitchen plastic, such as this, 00:15:24.78\00:15:29.94 and this is the kind that sticks to itself, which makes a 00:15:29.97\00:15:35.82 very good compress, so if I can get this to come loose 00:15:35.85\00:15:41.94 properly we'll show you the finish of the poultice 00:15:41.97\00:15:47.27 and then it opens like that and then we put around 00:15:47.30\00:15:57.53 the place where you have the compress. 00:15:57.83\00:16:00.27 Now compresses are extremely good but you do need to put a 00:16:00.30\00:16:07.59 bandage on it, so here is a bandage an Ace type, 00:16:07.63\00:16:12.76 and again it's the same kind of thing, it goes on with a bit of 00:16:12.79\00:16:18.24 stickiness, and the sticky plastic wrap and the sticky roll 00:16:18.27\00:16:24.12 bandage is very helpful and it's not put on tight, 00:16:24.15\00:16:29.05 it's just put on just enough to hold the compress in place. 00:16:29.08\00:16:36.24 Now if Arianna had a sore on her hand or any kind of wound 00:16:36.27\00:16:45.88 that had become infected, it's not necessary to put it 00:16:45.91\00:16:49.09 on a fresh wound but if a wound becomes infected then you could 00:16:49.12\00:16:53.39 use the onion poultice like this, and when it is taken off 00:16:53.42\00:16:57.88 the part is simply washed with a cold wash cloth 00:16:57.91\00:17:02.94 and dried and then the part dressed warmly. 00:17:02.97\00:17:08.37 If it's the chest then the chest is dressed very warmly, 00:17:08.40\00:17:11.84 after the compress is taken off. 00:17:11.87\00:17:14.78 Alright Arianna I will let you take that off yourself 00:17:14.81\00:17:18.64 when you get to a convenient place, thank you for helping us 00:17:18.67\00:17:23.72 with this nice poultice. 00:17:23.75\00:17:25.62 Now another thing that I would like to make sure that you know 00:17:25.65\00:17:32.49 about some small remedies that Dr. Donald Miller will be 00:17:32.52\00:17:38.33 talking with you about, and I have asked Dr. Miller to 00:17:38.36\00:17:41.87 join me on the program today, and I see that it looks like 00:17:41.90\00:17:47.52 you have a man's sock there. 00:17:47.55\00:17:49.33 - Yes, you know when you were talking about the onion poultice 00:17:49.36\00:17:53.35 I always think about people thinking well! I won't have any 00:17:53.38\00:17:57.66 of this plastic wrap, I don't have any of the Ace bandages. 00:17:57.69\00:18:00.63 Traveling in other countries you've got to really fly by 00:18:00.66\00:18:04.20 the seat of your pants. - Plastic bags are not even 00:18:04.23\00:18:06.70 available. - Plastic bags are ubiquitous 00:18:06.73\00:18:08.10 they are everywhere, plastic bags, there is no where I go 00:18:08.13\00:18:11.08 that you cannot find a plastic bag. 00:18:11.11\00:18:12.34 - Even in Ukraine. 00:18:12.38\00:18:13.52 - In Ukraine they are everywhere. 00:18:13.55\00:18:14.52 - Really! - Blowing in the wind. 00:18:14.74\00:18:16.36 - First time I went to Ukraine they didn't have plastic bags. 00:18:16.39\00:18:19.33 - This is a whole new world, that was 10 years ago, 00:18:19.36\00:18:20.94 now they're everywhere. 00:18:20.97\00:18:22.59 Any plastic, any plastic at all and then if you don't have an 00:18:22.62\00:18:26.14 Ace bandage, once you've got that whole thing on just pull a 00:18:26.17\00:18:29.26 sock over the whole thing it will cover it nicely, 00:18:29.29\00:18:32.03 if you want the fingers out just cut the end of the sock off 00:18:32.06\00:18:33.92 and you've got everything that you need right there. 00:18:33.95\00:18:35.41 - So you need to cut a little hole over here on the side 00:18:35.44\00:18:38.85 for the thumb. - That's right! 00:18:38.88\00:18:39.88 So we don't feel like you got to have exactly the equipment 00:18:39.91\00:18:44.35 that we are showing you because everything is out there that 00:18:44.38\00:18:48.19 you need, I don't think God is out there to fool us 00:18:48.22\00:18:50.78 if there is a simple remedy there is a way 00:18:50.81\00:18:52.76 that you can use it. 00:18:52.80\00:18:53.79 Now there are a few things that I like to travel with 00:18:53.88\00:18:56.08 one, and I bought this years ago when we were on tour 00:18:56.11\00:18:59.55 up in Washington State, you can see there is still 00:18:59.58\00:19:03.04 a little bit in here, this is peppermint oil. 00:19:03.07\00:19:04.98 - Peppermint oil. - Yep! I'm sure. Same thing will happen 00:21:34.48\00:21:36.80 if you use to much of the mint oil. 00:21:36.83\00:21:38.56 - Yes, it will. - But mint oil for pain in the 00:21:38.59\00:21:41.19 abdomen can be really nice, or bloating in the abdomen, 00:21:41.22\00:21:44.86 very nice but if you use much it needs to be diluted. 00:21:44.89\00:21:48.69 - As a matter of fact if you don't have them in oil 00:21:48.72\00:21:50.15 and there is some mint, just chew some mint leaves. 00:21:50.18\00:21:52.06 - Precisely! - It will give you the same 00:21:52.09\00:21:53.38 thing and mint grows in many many... 00:21:53.41\00:21:54.96 and there is many different types of mints. 00:21:54.99\00:21:56.51 So to make this I would put a teaspoon of oil, 00:21:56.54\00:22:00.64 I like to use olive oil myself, and then three drops, 00:22:00.67\00:22:04.53 it doesn't take many, I usually use five for myself, 00:22:04.56\00:22:07.30 about three drops of these oils, put them in the water, 00:22:07.33\00:22:10.71 shake it vigorously, and drink it down. 00:22:10.74\00:22:13.20 - How much water, about a cup? - About a cup, about 8ounces 00:22:13.23\00:22:16.49 it doesn't really matter, the more the merrier sometimes. 00:22:16.53\00:22:19.70 Oregano is know to kill about 25 different viruses. 00:22:19.73\00:22:24.06 - May I see it? - Um hum! 00:22:24.09\00:22:25.34 - Yes, it's very anti-microbial, yes, very fragrant! 00:22:25.37\00:22:31.34 It makes you think when you smell it, that it is a healing 00:22:31.37\00:22:36.99 herb, may I see that one? - Yes, yes, very nice. 00:22:37.02\00:22:39.15 - Oh yes, the thyme oil, thyme is a very good kitchen herb. 00:22:39.18\00:22:44.36 - And keeping these in your suitcases also makes your 00:22:44.39\00:22:47.32 suitcase smell quite nice. 00:22:47.35\00:22:49.28 It is always good to have a nice smelling suitcase. 00:22:49.31\00:22:52.12 One other thing I like to travel with is a little 00:22:52.15\00:22:56.18 container and I'm not advertising products, 00:22:56.21\00:22:58.19 there is many different types this is just an atomizer 00:22:58.22\00:23:01.42 for spraying a saline solution into the nose for a cold 00:23:01.45\00:23:06.01 coming on, I like to do a saline spray if someone else 00:23:06.04\00:23:11.60 is sick in the area, because we realize that this part 00:23:11.63\00:23:14.42 of the body is very protective of us as long as we've 00:23:14.45\00:23:17.33 kept it clean. 00:23:17.36\00:23:18.33 This has a little bit of colloidal silver in it 00:23:18.34\00:23:21.18 which they say has great properties whether it does 00:23:21.21\00:23:24.61 or not I don't know but... 00:23:24.64\00:23:25.77 - Some tests seem to show that the silver salts are very 00:23:25.80\00:23:30.16 effective, we used to use the silver salts when I was in 00:23:30.19\00:23:33.44 Medical School for such a serious illness as syphilis 00:23:33.47\00:23:37.95 and it was quite effective for the syphilis, so we know 00:23:37.98\00:23:40.73 that it does have good anti- microbial qualities. 00:23:40.76\00:23:44.04 So I just do a couple squirts up each nostril with this thing 00:23:44.07\00:23:46.96 and I find that that protects me if not helping to heal me 00:23:46.99\00:23:51.56 for what I might already have, but protect me from 00:23:51.59\00:23:53.50 getting it from somebody else. 00:23:53.53\00:23:54.91 So these simple things that we carry around with us, 00:23:54.94\00:23:57.72 I like to have these with me every where I go. 00:23:57.75\00:24:00.65 - By the way I'll say that the treatment for syphilis is 00:24:00.68\00:24:05.74 probably still best the antibiotic that we have today 00:24:05.77\00:24:10.77 but we certainly did have good results with the silver salts 00:24:10.80\00:24:14.93 when I was in Medical School, but we also know that at the 00:24:14.96\00:24:20.95 same time that we were treating syphilis and gonorrhea with 00:24:20.98\00:24:24.49 silver salts, we also had excellent results with 00:24:24.52\00:24:28.05 hot baths for both syphilis and gonorrhea. 00:24:28.08\00:24:32.96 Both of these germs are extremely sensitive to 00:24:32.99\00:24:37.94 a little heat and a little cooling and so that makes it 00:24:37.97\00:24:41.69 so that they can be very effective. 00:24:41.72\00:24:43.67 Now you were showing me some of the things you carry around 00:24:43.70\00:24:49.67 in your emergency kit. 00:24:49.70\00:24:51.62 - Well you know some of the best things and I've got many 00:24:51.65\00:24:55.02 things in here, I just want to pull this out right here 00:24:55.05\00:24:57.12 I carry a little thing, this is what we have at Uchee Pines 00:24:57.15\00:25:00.85 this little card pack. - Yes, I recognize that. 00:25:00.88\00:25:02.24 That's Dan Duce's program. - No this is our program 00:25:02.27\00:25:05.52 this is the one that we put out for meetings and that we 00:25:05.55\00:25:08.66 sort of give away. 00:25:08.69\00:25:09.84 but in here I made up many Bible promises, and you know 00:25:09.87\00:25:14.98 when you are in a tough situation a Bible promise 00:25:15.01\00:25:17.83 is what you really need, you can be giving yourself a treatment 00:25:17.86\00:25:21.40 but sometimes a treatment is tough like you mentioned 00:25:21.43\00:25:23.54 for syphilis I used to sue hydrotherapy and this was 00:25:23.57\00:25:26.94 long term hydro-therapy with hot temperatures. 00:25:26.97\00:25:29.29 - Very hot temperatures up to 105°. 00:25:29.32\00:25:30.96 - Yes! That's right so Joshua 1:9 Have not I commanded thee 00:25:30.99\00:25:33.76 be strong and of good courage, it comes in handy for people 00:25:33.79\00:25:36.27 like that, and so to have God's Word... 00:25:36.30\00:25:38.92 I have found that there is power in God's word. 00:25:38.95\00:25:42.70 - Healing power! - Very much healing powers! 00:25:42.73\00:25:45.61 - We think of the Word of God as being something that is very 00:25:45.64\00:25:49.78 good for our spiritual health but the Word of God is also 00:25:49.81\00:25:54.19 very powerful for the physical health and when people are 00:25:54.22\00:25:57.54 seriously ill to share the Word of God, share some promises 00:25:57.57\00:26:02.77 to pray with them, this can be very helpful for the individual, 00:26:02.80\00:26:07.01 it's encouraging, it's filled with hope and it makes the 00:26:07.04\00:26:11.06 individual think that you have their best good at heart. 00:26:11.09\00:26:14.92 - I was once lying very sick in Austria and reading through 00:26:14.95\00:26:18.24 the Bible and I came to the most wonderful healing verse, 00:26:18.27\00:26:21.73 I like medical missionary verses, 00:26:21.76\00:26:24.84 it was found in Jeremiah 17:14 00:26:24.87\00:26:26.92 it says: "Heal me O Lord, and I shall be healed, save me 00:26:26.95\00:26:31.58 and I shall be saved." 00:26:31.61\00:26:32.81 - "Amen!" - Two promises, condition is, 00:26:32.84\00:26:34.88 "For Though art my praise." - "Amen!" 00:26:34.91\00:26:38.03 So I find that praising the Lord is such a healing thing 00:26:38.06\00:26:42.24 as we are laying there in our sick bed or our death bed 00:26:42.27\00:26:44.75 if we praise the Lord it's going to make it better. 00:26:44.78\00:26:48.10 - Now you have one more thing that I like and it's right there 00:26:48.13\00:26:51.39 on the table beside you. 00:26:51.42\00:26:52.61 - Yes! - That came out of your kit too 00:26:52.64\00:26:54.68 I know. - I would not travel without 00:26:54.71\00:26:57.17 my charcoal, and I have powder in my suitcase but I will 00:26:57.20\00:27:01.50 carry this with me wherever I am, these are charcoal tablets 00:27:01.53\00:27:05.46 I bought this, as a matter of fact I can't even read it 00:27:05.49\00:27:07.50 to you because it's in Cyrillic but I bought this in Ukraine 00:27:07.53\00:27:12.41 and I just tear off as many as I think I need, 00:27:12.44\00:27:15.26 people say well how many do you take, I say well I take enough. 00:27:15.29\00:27:18.20 - That's the dosage, you take enough. 00:27:18.23\00:27:20.58 - That's right! You can't take to many. 00:27:20.61\00:27:21.99 - Yes, it's not toxic. 00:27:22.02\00:27:23.49 So I like your little kit, I think it's a very good thing 00:27:23.52\00:27:28.44 I carry a kit as well but when I carry charcoal in my suitcase 00:27:28.47\00:27:32.68 I have it double bagged in a zip-lock bag, 00:27:32.71\00:27:37.14 I want to be sure that I don't arrive at my destination 00:27:37.17\00:27:40.59 and have to do laundry the very first thing and still 00:27:40.62\00:27:44.26 forever have dingy clothing. 00:27:44.29\00:27:45.83 Well I hope these simple things that you can see anyone can do 00:27:45.86\00:27:50.46 in their home will be of eternal benefit to you. 00:27:50.49\00:27:54.33
