Well, it makes a little. 00:06:55.32\00:06:58.49 As you can see, you can file down nails, or you can 00:06:58.52\00:07:00.78 file down nails, or you can file off corns, 00:07:00.81\00:07:06.03 or file off calluses with this, and just plane them right down. 00:07:06.06\00:07:10.27 Sometimes it takes a little time, but it's very nice 00:07:10.30\00:07:14.23 for the person who is old, and who is getting lame 00:07:14.26\00:07:18.30 because they are having difficulty in walking 00:07:18.33\00:07:23.26 with painful corns, and painful calluses. 00:07:23.29\00:07:27.40 You can be a real medical missionary in your family 00:07:27.43\00:07:30.70 just with such a device. 00:07:30.73\00:07:32.74 This kind of device, I think, costs under $20 at a 00:07:32.77\00:07:37.91 department store, or a discount store. 00:07:37.94\00:07:39.99 I like to have several kinds of tissues, maybe a roll 00:07:40.02\00:07:45.68 of towel, or a box of tissue that's just dedicated to 00:07:45.71\00:07:52.79 my box, so that if I want to take my whole box 00:07:52.82\00:07:58.63 with me to deal with someone's problem, I have everything 00:07:58.66\00:08:02.92 there that I'm going to need. 00:08:02.95\00:08:04.56 And, one of the things that I often need is this kind of 00:08:04.59\00:08:08.78 device... This is for tennis elbow 00:08:08.81\00:08:11.14 and I have asked an assistant to come and help me 00:08:11.17\00:08:15.38 with this kind of device. 00:08:15.39\00:08:16.85 You buy these from a discount store, or a drug store 00:08:16.88\00:08:21.25 and it has a very fine use with tennis elbow. 00:08:21.28\00:08:25.73 This is Justina Thomas, and she is going to 00:08:25.76\00:08:30.53 let me show you how this is used for tennis elbow. 00:08:30.56\00:08:35.60 Look at this... very simple. 00:08:35.63\00:08:37.60 You simply put it on the arm, just below the crease 00:08:37.63\00:08:42.84 of the elbow, as you see right here 00:08:42.87\00:08:45.11 Then, you can put it on by yourself, and then just 00:08:45.14\00:08:48.61 snap it shut like that. 00:08:48.64\00:08:50.51 It's very easy to work with this because it's 00:08:50.54\00:08:55.18 designed for you to put it on by yourself. 00:08:55.21\00:08:58.45 Now a person with tennis elbow has pain 00:08:58.48\00:09:02.97 not only in the elbow, usually it's right back here 00:09:03.00\00:09:07.15 on this little knob that you can easily feel at your own 00:09:07.18\00:09:11.18 elbow... just right here, the most prominent place right there 00:09:11.19\00:09:14.93 Or, it may be in these muscles right down between the 2 bones. 00:09:14.96\00:09:20.56 These interosseous muscles can be VERY tender... 00:09:20.59\00:09:25.96 So that doing this kind of movement, can be 00:09:25.99\00:09:28.70 quite uncomfortable for the person who has a tennis elbow. 00:09:28.73\00:09:32.29 Putting this on, and letting them go about.. just a support 00:09:32.32\00:09:35.73 ...it's not worn tightly, but just a support and then as they 00:09:35.76\00:09:39.61 move the arm, it massages gently these muscles 00:09:39.64\00:09:44.07 in here, and that helps them quite a great deal. 00:09:44.10\00:09:48.57 Now, there is another kind of device, such as this 00:09:48.60\00:09:51.34 which you can also purchase at a pharmacy, or at a 00:09:51.37\00:09:54.95 discount store and it is just worn in the same way. 00:09:54.98\00:09:58.39 It's worn right here, or it can be worn on the arm right here. 00:09:58.42\00:10:04.91 This one is made for a person with a more hefty arm 00:10:04.94\00:10:08.88 than Justina has, but you can get the idea. 00:10:08.91\00:10:12.78 Thank you, Justina. 00:10:12.81\00:10:15.51 Now, these are kept in your kit so that when someone has 00:10:15.54\00:10:19.49 that kind of affliction, then you are ready 00:10:19.52\00:10:23.94 for them right away. 00:10:23.97\00:10:25.28 I like these charcoal pads... They work very nicely 00:10:25.31\00:10:31.63 This is for the eyes, and if a person has inflamed eyes, 00:10:31.66\00:10:36.67 simply put this on the eyes, and this fits around the head 00:10:36.68\00:10:41.39 and can stay on while they sleep. 00:10:41.40\00:10:44.96 The charcoal, even though it's dry, it's not wet... 00:10:44.99\00:10:48.89 even though it's dry, it has a very good benefit 00:10:48.92\00:10:52.58 for the person who has inflamed eyes. 00:10:52.61\00:10:56.00 If the person only has a single inflamed eye, 00:10:56.03\00:10:58.94 they make them that are like this, 00:10:58.97\00:11:01.96 and you can use that on one eye with simply 00:11:01.97\00:11:05.20 putting on a piece of tape. 00:11:05.23\00:11:06.90 Now, if a person has a sensitivity to tape, 00:11:06.91\00:11:09.76 and a lot of people do, then you can bind it around 00:11:09.79\00:11:13.30 the head with an Ace bandage and then use the tape 00:11:13.33\00:11:18.06 on the Ace bandage to hold it in place. 00:11:18.09\00:11:20.58 And this kind of thing is a cravat... 00:11:20.61\00:11:24.66 It can be worn around the neck for a sore throat, 00:11:24.69\00:11:28.06 or for painful neck muscles. 00:11:28.09\00:11:30.65 Sometimes when people sit in a car for a long time 00:11:30.68\00:11:35.02 with a bucket seat, and they don't realize that the seat is 00:11:35.05\00:11:40.78 leaning backward a little too far, and so when they are 00:11:40.79\00:11:44.21 traveling many miles, these neck muscles get quite tender 00:11:44.24\00:11:49.22 and they may even think they're getting a sore throat, 00:11:49.25\00:11:51.60 but it's actually just tender neck muscles. 00:11:51.63\00:11:54.73 Sometimes the back of the neck can also be quite tender, 00:11:54.76\00:12:00.37 and with this kind of thing, it can be very helpful. 00:12:00.40\00:12:03.56 They just wear it at night, 00:12:03.59\00:12:04.89 or they can wear it in the daytime too. 00:12:04.93\00:12:06.96 It has a very nice appearance so that you don't have to 00:12:07.00\00:12:11.24 look as if you're wearing 00:12:11.27\00:12:12.70 some kind of rag around the throat. 00:12:12.71\00:12:16.24 You might not have this kind of device, 00:12:16.27\00:12:18.67 but if you're overweight, you may want to 00:12:18.70\00:12:20.81 get this kind of device. 00:12:20.82\00:12:22.37 It simply lets you measure how thick the fat is 00:12:22.40\00:12:29.33 in various parts of your body. 00:12:29.36\00:12:31.78 Such as, the key area is probably over the biceps 00:12:31.81\00:12:36.07 And, if you just pick up.. don't pick up muscle, but 00:12:36.10\00:12:39.04 just pick up the subcutaneous tissue in the skin, 00:12:39.07\00:12:42.23 and then, with this little device, you simply measure. 00:12:42.24\00:12:45.73 For a man, it should be a half centimeter, 00:12:45.76\00:12:48.90 and so I'll put it on the half centimeter mark... 00:12:48.93\00:12:51.10 that's not very much, is it? 00:12:51.13\00:12:53.26 You might just measure yourself and see 00:12:53.29\00:12:56.26 just how much you measure. 00:12:56.29\00:12:58.04 Now a woman, can measure up to a centimeter in this area. 00:12:58.08\00:13:03.00 We women carry a little bit extra fat in the subcutaneous 00:13:03.03\00:13:09.06 tissue normally, than men do. 00:13:09.09\00:13:11.32 But that's a very rigorous test. 00:13:11.35\00:13:13.35 If you only test one place, that's where to test. 00:13:13.36\00:13:15.99 But, of course, we have more fat back here, 00:13:16.02\00:13:18.45 and, of course, a lot more fat down here or here, or down there 00:13:18.48\00:13:21.02 And so, this kind of device can help you to know and 00:13:21.95\00:13:26.23 by checking in your library for the kind of person you are, 00:13:26.26\00:13:31.87 whether you are Caucasian, or black, or whether you are a 00:13:31.90\00:13:37.17 native American, the storage of fat is a little different in 00:13:37.20\00:13:43.78 some races than in others, and you might want to check that. 00:13:43.81\00:13:47.28 Now I have here some devices that people like to have. 00:13:47.31\00:13:53.71 I don't know that they are particularly necessary 00:13:53.72\00:13:56.87 in the average home medicine kit, 00:13:56.90\00:14:00.37 but you might like to have one. 00:14:00.40\00:14:02.61 And these can be picked up... these are percussion hammers 00:14:02.64\00:14:06.27 which will test for the briskness of your deep tendon 00:14:06.30\00:14:12.98 reflexes, and sometimes if there is a sharp point 00:14:13.01\00:14:16.82 down on this end, you can test some of the 00:14:16.85\00:14:18.96 superficial reflexes as well... the skin reflexes. 00:14:18.99\00:14:22.69 That works out very nicely. 00:14:22.72\00:14:24.57 And then, this particular one has a measuring device 00:14:24.58\00:14:28.54 so that it measures a centimeter a half centimeter, and so forth 00:14:28.57\00:14:31.90 right down to about 3 mm... 00:14:31.93\00:14:34.36 You can see that this device is provided by 00:14:34.39\00:14:39.36 some drug companies, and sometimes they work nicely 00:14:39.39\00:14:43.91 and sometimes they're just nice gimmicks but either way, 00:14:43.94\00:14:46.90 it's sort of fun to have this kind of thing. 00:14:46.93\00:14:50.47 Now where can you test deep tendon reflexes? 00:14:50.50\00:14:52.79 Well, one of the nice ones is this bit tendon right here. 00:14:52.82\00:14:56.52 And the way to do that is very simple 00:14:56.55\00:14:59.20 and I have asked Justina to assist me in showing you 00:14:59.23\00:15:04.46 this very nice little deep tendon reflex. 00:15:04.49\00:15:08.93 Now it's very important that you put your finger right on 00:15:08.96\00:15:12.72 the place where there is the deep tendon. 00:15:12.73\00:15:16.63 You put your thumb on it, and then with a little sharp... 00:15:16.66\00:15:21.05 this kind of thing... 00:15:21.08\00:15:22.19 You will not be able to see it very well, 00:15:22.22\00:15:25.56 but I can feel it very well! 00:15:25.59\00:15:27.60 I can feel her biceps contract when I simply do that 00:15:27.63\00:15:32.11 And I don't know if you can see the little contraction 00:15:32.14\00:15:34.42 that occurred there. 00:15:34.45\00:15:35.44 And, of course, everybody knows what the knee jerk is. 00:15:35.45\00:15:38.08 You just have the person sit on the edge of the table 00:15:38.09\00:15:42.12 and then with the knee dangling nicely, the leg quite relaxed, 00:15:42.15\00:15:47.45 then you just strike the place just under the kneecap... 00:15:47.46\00:15:52.98 and, of course, everybody has had that experience 00:15:53.01\00:15:54.85 since they were quite young. 00:15:54.88\00:15:56.62 The only time that you would need that kind of thing 00:15:56.65\00:15:59.69 would be if someone had been in an accident, 00:15:59.72\00:16:02.21 or someone is sick, or they have some kind of 00:16:02.24\00:16:04.41 neurologic problem, and you aren't certain whether 00:16:04.44\00:16:07.49 they have neurologic damage, and you can see if you can 00:16:07.52\00:16:11.81 elicit these deep tendon reflexes. 00:16:11.84\00:16:14.66 Now let's say you don't get one... 00:16:14.69\00:16:17.04 you do this when the patient is very relaxed 00:16:17.07\00:16:21.44 ...they have to be relaxed. 00:16:21.47\00:16:22.68 Often they are tight here, and that spoils the reflex, 00:16:22.71\00:16:27.24 but if they are quite relaxed, and you're quite relaxed, 00:16:27.27\00:16:30.72 and you've got your thumb on the right place, 00:16:30.75\00:16:33.16 and you strike it just right, and they don't have a reflex... 00:16:33.19\00:16:35.85 You can't feel any kind of contraction of the biceps 00:16:35.88\00:16:40.05 which then moves this tendon. 00:16:40.08\00:16:42.20 So, then what do you do? 00:16:42.23\00:16:44.06 Well, you test the other side... 00:16:44.09\00:16:45.88 Now if the other side also gives you no reflex, 00:16:45.91\00:16:50.11 then probably, she's all right. 00:16:50.14\00:16:52.91 There's probably no problem with her nervous system 00:16:52.94\00:16:57.19 ...she's just not reacting today. 00:16:57.22\00:16:59.41 And she may NOT react most of the time. 00:16:59.44\00:17:02.76 But with the knee jerk, if you simply have the person 00:17:02.79\00:17:06.53 put the hands together like this, and press 00:17:06.56\00:17:09.55 and then while they're distracted doing this, 00:17:09.58\00:17:12.55 and pressing hard, it enhances the reflex 00:17:12.58\00:17:16.31 if you strike it at that time. 00:17:16.34\00:17:18.23 So while they're busy doing this, you're busy 00:17:18.26\00:17:20.69 tapping the reflex, and sometimes you get a 00:17:20.72\00:17:22.60 perfectly normal kneejerk with that simple little maneuver 00:17:22.63\00:17:29.62 Now with your patient, who has some kind of splinter, 00:17:29.65\00:17:36.25 you've got some other things that you can do. 00:17:36.28\00:17:38.81 Let's say she gets a splinter under the fingernail, 00:17:38.84\00:17:41.96 I like to have magnifying glasses, and I have 00:17:41.99\00:17:44.83 a number of them. 00:17:44.86\00:17:46.16 This one is a little table one, and it fits very nicely this way 00:17:46.19\00:17:51.34 so that it fits on the table and you look through it 00:17:51.37\00:17:54.78 and you can see the splinter VERY well, and dig it out. 00:17:54.81\00:18:00.38 Now, is there something that you should keep in your kit 00:18:00.41\00:18:06.68 that will be always on hand, so that you can dig out splinters 00:18:06.71\00:18:11.34 and the answer is... yes. 00:18:11.35\00:18:12.44 And I have a nice little kit... You see this little kit 00:18:12.47\00:18:16.48 ...it has here some suture material which 00:18:16.51\00:18:20.47 you may, or you may not want. 00:18:20.50\00:18:22.62 I always keep some in mine, I have rarely used it... 00:18:22.65\00:18:26.48 I think twice in all my experience as a physician, 00:18:26.51\00:18:29.84 I've used it... you've probably would never have such an 00:18:29.87\00:18:33.40 opportunity or desire... 00:18:33.43\00:18:35.40 But let's say you were in some kind of field situation, 00:18:35.43\00:18:38.57 way out in the middle of nowhere, and someone 00:18:38.60\00:18:43.09 gets cut... Is there something you can do? 00:18:43.12\00:18:45.91 And the answer is, yes... if you have a needle 00:18:45.94\00:18:47.69 and you have some thread. 00:18:47.72\00:18:49.42 Make it as clean as you can. 00:18:49.45\00:18:51.81 It doesn't have to be sterile, because the cut 00:18:51.84\00:18:55.23 was not made in a sterile way. 00:18:55.26\00:18:57.89 And so, you're sewing it up, it doesn't usually have to be 00:18:57.92\00:19:00.99 sterile... it just needs to be very clean 00:19:01.02\00:19:03.52 And the body can handle that fine. 00:19:03.55\00:19:06.52 But I have here a number of surgical instruments that 00:19:06.55\00:19:09.94 you might not want... 00:19:09.97\00:19:11.14 But this one has a needle in it, along with some 00:19:11.15\00:19:15.61 suture material, so I'll just show you how that works 00:19:15.64\00:19:19.01 You just keep the needle in some kind of little tube like this 00:19:19.02\00:19:23.24 and then, here is a large needle. 00:19:23.27\00:19:27.03 You may need a large one, or you may need a small one. 00:19:27.06\00:19:30.27 I have both in this little tube that I keep all the time 00:19:30.30\00:19:35.17 ...small needles and large needles 00:19:35.20\00:19:37.76 But I think most of the time, you will use a large needle 00:19:37.79\00:19:41.77 more than you will a small needle. 00:19:41.80\00:19:43.66 I keep this all the time so that I can be just ready 00:19:43.69\00:19:48.37 to use the little magnifying glass and remove 00:19:48.40\00:19:52.39 a splinter from beneath the fingernail, 00:19:52.42\00:19:54.97 or embedded somewhere. 00:19:55.00\00:19:57.01 The worst thing for you to have to remove is glass. 00:19:57.04\00:20:01.62 When the person has glass, you may need the needle 00:20:01.65\00:20:05.43 and the magnifying glass... 00:20:05.46\00:20:08.44 You may also need forceps, or tweezers. 00:20:08.47\00:20:12.17 Most homes have tweezers in the home, 00:20:12.20\00:20:16.52 and as you work with this, 00:20:16.55\00:20:19.06 you will find that it's easy to work with... 00:20:19.10\00:20:21.99 The person with the splinter, you simply take hold of it 00:20:22.02\00:20:26.81 if you can reach it, and then pull it out. 00:20:26.84\00:20:29.52 And the needle can help to pull it so that it's within 00:20:29.55\00:20:33.83 the reach of the tweezers, and then you pull it out. 00:20:33.86\00:20:37.53 Now this is a surgical instrument, 00:20:37.56\00:20:39.34 and I think I picked these up at a flea market somewhere. 00:20:39.37\00:20:42.78 You can buy these from a surgical supply house 00:20:42.81\00:20:45.45 for probably $18 to $25 a piece... 00:20:45.48\00:20:48.42 But you can get them for a couple of dollars 00:20:48.45\00:20:50.50 or less at a flea market if you can find them. 00:20:50.53\00:20:53.72 I have a number of other things as well... 00:20:53.75\00:20:56.53 And here is a very nice kind of scissors. 00:20:56.56\00:21:02.41 You can see that they have an angle in them, 00:21:02.44\00:21:06.97 and that makes them very helpful. 00:21:07.00\00:21:09.13 And here is a special kind of scissors. 00:21:09.16\00:21:12.66 That kind of scissor... I also picked this up at a flea market. 00:21:12.69\00:21:15.00 Sometimes you can get these at pawn shops, 00:21:16.00\00:21:22.23 or once in a while, at a thrift shop, you can get these. 00:21:22.26\00:21:25.97 And they are very nice to take out sutures. 00:21:26.00\00:21:28.79 Let me just show you how that could work. 00:21:28.82\00:21:31.74 I put a suture in this little device here so that I 00:21:31.77\00:21:37.21 could show you this. 00:21:37.24\00:21:38.48 If you have sutures put in, sometimes you are going to 00:21:38.51\00:21:42.84 go on a trip right after a surgeon has put some 00:21:42.87\00:21:45.77 sutures in for you, and you don't want to have 00:21:45.80\00:21:48.13 to come back at the time the surgeon tells you 00:21:48.16\00:21:50.20 he wants to take out the sutures... 00:21:50.23\00:21:51.99 Justina, would you just hold that for me... 00:21:52.02\00:21:56.71 Let's say this is the person's hand... 00:21:56.74\00:21:59.36 You take the suture that has been put in, 00:21:59.39\00:22:02.75 and hold it by some tweezers like this. 00:22:02.78\00:22:05.24 Then you take the little suture removal scissors, 00:22:05.27\00:22:08.89 and this tiny part, you just put under and you cut it 00:22:08.92\00:22:13.00 right over here at one edge. 00:22:13.03\00:22:16.57 If you will just turn that up, you can see... 00:22:16.60\00:22:19.50 I don't cut it in the middle, because if I cut it 00:22:19.53\00:22:21.60 in the middle, then this part that's dirty, is pulled through 00:22:21.63\00:22:24.56 the skin, but it's better to just pull it, 00:22:24.59\00:22:28.82 cut it, right on one side. 00:22:28.86\00:22:30.45 Now let's say you don't have one of these 00:22:30.49\00:22:32.66 nice little scissors... little suture scissors, 00:22:32.69\00:22:35.35 then just get any kind of small scissors, small point scissors 00:22:35.38\00:22:40.16 Things like cuticle scissors will work very nicely 00:22:40.19\00:22:43.45 and then you just cut it right over on the side, 00:22:43.48\00:22:46.35 and pull it out, and then very little of the part that's 00:22:46.38\00:22:51.11 been out in the air and in the dust, and so forth 00:22:51.14\00:22:53.95 will go through the skin. 00:22:53.96\00:22:55.60 Thank you, Justina. 00:22:55.61\00:22:57.11 Now all of these kinds of instruments are nice to have. 00:22:57.14\00:23:02.31 Here is another one that's very good for working on 00:23:02.34\00:23:05.66 old people's corns, and toenails, and fungus nails 00:23:05.69\00:23:12.27 ...this can be used very nicely for that. 00:23:12.30\00:23:14.76 Again, you can often pick these up for a little of nothing 00:23:14.79\00:23:18.33 These are bandage scissors, very nice to have separate 00:23:18.36\00:23:22.98 And then once in a while, you'll need something like 00:23:23.01\00:23:26.72 hemostats... I think I've used a hemostat more for 00:23:26.75\00:23:31.44 picking out splinters, or picking up some small 00:23:31.47\00:23:36.98 thing from a very small tube that I have for use 00:23:37.01\00:23:41.61 in medical things. 00:23:41.62\00:23:43.12 Now this... you'll recognize this right away... 00:23:43.15\00:23:46.01 it's a dental mirror, and very nice for looking 00:23:46.04\00:23:50.84 in the mouth when the mouth has some kind of affliction... 00:23:50.87\00:23:55.57 You simply look in the person's mouth and you can sometimes 00:23:55.58\00:23:59.98 see things that you're not able to see otherwise. 00:24:00.01\00:24:03.09 Now I showed you the table-type of magnifying glass, 00:24:03.12\00:24:07.56 but there are many others. 00:24:07.57\00:24:09.04 Here is one that you can look in your eye 00:24:09.07\00:24:12.76 and just take a tissue and remove something 00:24:12.79\00:24:15.15 with this kind of magnifying glass, 00:24:15.18\00:24:17.62 it's very nice to do... it's a magnifying mirror. 00:24:17.65\00:24:21.59 And then, here is one that can keep the dust 00:24:21.62\00:24:25.52 off it just by this kind of device. 00:24:25.55\00:24:29.36 And, here is a similar one, you find these in all 00:24:29.39\00:24:33.40 kinds as all sizes, shapes and conditions. 00:24:33.43\00:24:38.52 This one is very fancy with the stainless steel, 00:24:38.55\00:24:41.59 I like it very much. 00:24:41.60\00:24:43.43 Now, occasionally, you will have someone who lives in your home 00:24:43.46\00:24:49.38 who may be hard of hearing. 00:24:49.41\00:24:50.92 And, if you want to see whether they are getting very deaf, 00:24:50.95\00:24:54.70 you can take something like a tuning fork, 00:24:54.73\00:24:57.26 and just listen to it yourself, and then let them listen to it. 00:24:57.29\00:25:01.78 And if you can hear it, and they can't, 00:25:01.81\00:25:06.33 then you think that probably they are deaf, 00:25:06.36\00:25:09.95 at least they are deafer than you are. 00:25:09.98\00:25:12.03 And that can be very helpful to know sometimes. 00:25:12.06\00:25:15.98 If you have a diabetic living in your home, 00:25:16.01\00:25:18.23 this kind of kit is very helpful. 00:25:18.26\00:25:21.45 It's the kind of kit that has the little machine 00:25:21.48\00:25:26.09 for testing the blood sugar. 00:25:26.12\00:25:28.03 And, it has stylets in it, and the reagent materials 00:25:28.06\00:25:34.58 and the strips... has all of that. 00:25:34.61\00:25:37.03 And this one has a little device that has a little 00:25:37.06\00:25:41.89 stylet in it so it fits right in here, just like this 00:25:41.92\00:25:46.02 And you can see that that's a pretty sharp 00:25:46.05\00:25:49.91 little device that will stick into the person's finger. 00:25:49.92\00:25:54.72 It has to go in a good little way, and this one has a 00:25:54.75\00:25:57.81 little trigger device that if you just do it that way 00:25:57.84\00:26:00.57 it works very neatly there. 00:26:00.60\00:26:03.33 I always have some kind of washing syringe in my kit 00:26:03.36\00:26:12.41 so that I can irrigate, or clean out ears, 00:26:12.44\00:26:16.10 or that kind of thing. 00:26:16.13\00:26:17.59 Something that people with young children will want to have 00:26:17.62\00:26:21.79 is an otoscope. 00:26:21.82\00:26:23.26 You can purchase an otoscope for under $20 usually 00:26:23.29\00:26:27.70 on the internet, or sometimes at a discount store 00:26:27.73\00:26:34.19 or sometimes at a flea market if you happen to be there. 00:26:34.22\00:26:39.06 I like also to have something like this charcoal salve. 00:26:39.09\00:26:44.01 Charcoal salve is really good for infected splinters 00:26:44.02\00:26:49.94 and this kind of thing. 00:26:49.97\00:26:51.08 And so, a number of herbal remedies stay in my kit. 00:26:51.11\00:26:56.23 Depending on who you have living in your home, 00:26:56.26\00:26:58.73 you may even want to have something of this nature. 00:26:58.76\00:27:01.02 This is a little epilation device. 00:27:01.05\00:27:04.25 It takes off hairs. 00:27:04.28\00:27:05.70 Again, you can buy these from a department store 00:27:05.73\00:27:10.75 like Wal-Mart, or somewhere like that. 00:27:10.78\00:27:12.97 And this simply has a little needle at the end 00:27:13.00\00:27:17.60 that fits into a hair follicle and you just give it a little 00:27:17.63\00:27:23.03 spark and the hair follicle just falls out. 00:27:23.06\00:27:27.13 And these are some very simple things that you can have 00:27:27.16\00:27:31.50 in your home all the time. 00:27:31.53\00:27:32.87 And when you have a problem, you simply pick up your kit 00:27:32.90\00:27:37.31 and take it to the patient. 00:27:37.34\00:27:39.14 And by doing so, you can evaluate how they're doing 00:27:39.17\00:27:43.37 and also give them very simple treatments. 00:27:43.40\00:27:46.43 Now I hope by showing you the home kit, 00:27:46.46\00:27:49.21 and some things that you can put in it, 00:27:49.22\00:27:50.97 it will help you to help those that you love very much. 00:27:51.00\00:27:54.83
