Then, if we have this
understanding, we can trust

We can trust Him when we fall
into bad fortune of some kind.

In the Bible, we are taught
that healing and forgiveness

are almost synonymous.

Let me read to you something
that I think will be helpful...

"Jesus taught that
forgiveness and healing were in
00:01:42.36\00:01:45.33
some instances
practically synonymous"...

as in the case of the
palsied man of Matthew 9:2-6.

And the impotent man
at the pool of Bethesda,
00:01:53.37\00:01:56.02
yet, in the case of the
Apostle Paul who suffered from

an affliction given
as a protection from the
00:01:59.11\00:02:02.12
self-exaltation that
seemed to threaten him,
00:02:02.15\00:02:05.68
far from shaking his faith,
00:02:05.71\00:02:07.98
the misfortune
seemed to strengthen it.
00:02:08.01\00:02:11.24
"My grace is
sufficient for thee,"
00:02:11.27\00:02:15.60
and that was
sufficient for Paul.

He was satisfied with
the explanation that God gave

in that instance.

But if Paul had been of
the emotional or personality

disposition to distrust God,

at that point, he
would certainly have had the

opportunity to do so.

And so may we, when we fall
into any kind of sickness...

whether it be a cold, or
whether it be some serious

thing like cancer.

We may be tempted to say,

"God has departed from
me, or I have done something

so terrible that He is not going
to bless me in this matter.

And why doesn't He heal me?

Certainly, I have prayed
and others have prayed and

He could heal me. "

We may find ourselves in the
same position that the Hebrew
00:03:00.46\00:03:04.34
worthies did when
they were being thrown into
00:03:04.37\00:03:06.62
the fiery furnace.
00:03:06.65\00:03:07.63
I'm sure that when they said,
00:03:07.66\00:03:10.08
"Our God can save us
from your furnace"...
00:03:10.11\00:03:14.08
I'm sure that
they could have said,
00:03:14.11\00:03:16.82
"Yes, He will save
us. We know He will. "
00:03:16.85\00:03:19.74
And then, they
began to be bound up.
00:03:19.77\00:03:23.25
When they were tightly bound,
00:03:23.28\00:03:25.90
I'm sure they could say then,

"Lord, when are
you going to save us?"

Then the men lifted them up and
carried them towards the furnace

"Lord, when are
you going to save us?"

And then when they began to
be swung into the fiery furnace,

I'm sure at that
time, all hope died...

And they then said, "The
Lord is NOT going to save us.

We're going to meet
our death in this fire. "

And so they were
thrown into the furnace.

If at any time prior to
that, they had been delivered,

they would not have
seen the FULL majesty of God.

It's the same thing,
often, in our illnesses.

Sometimes we must
experience the pain.

We must experience the weakness
and the nausea or whatever

difficulty our
disease brings on us.

And then, after we have
experienced these things

and we see the mighty
power of God to heal us,

we can then know
that we have been healed.

That it is God who has
given us that great healing.

Now in the Bible, we are
often seeing Christ as simply

putting His hand on someone
or speaking a word to someone

and they were
immediately healed.

And we might wonder why it is
that God does not do that today.

Well, it is that in the
Bible God simply bypassed

man's part.

He wants to teach us by
this that He has a cooperative
00:04:48.68\00:04:52.53
venture with us in
this experiment with sin.

That's the case with
our forgiveness as well.

He has His part.

We have our part to play
in our forgiveness and in

His reinstatement of us
into the joy that we have

in His salvation.

Now with disease, in the
Bible we bypass the diagnosis...

We bypass all the
treatments that man can do.

We do not have to see
all of those things go by

before we see the healing.

Take in the
instance of infectious fever,

we didn't have to
see all that man can do,

or in the issue of
blood, or the blindness,

or the epilepsy,
or the insanity...

or even death.

We did not have to see
all these things go through
00:05:46.47\00:05:49.50
to their
completion in the Bible.

We can see that God has
the power to do these miracles,

to do these healings, to bring
about the transformation of

bread and fish into
enough food to feed a multitude.

We can see all of
those things in the Bible.

What about in our lives today?

Is it possible for us to see
a case of divine healing now?

is one of my coworkers at

that tells about the
divine intervention of God.

It's a privilege to work
with God's simple remedies...

And 3 years ago, in 1999 or
how many years ago that was,

a man came to Uchee
Pines who had a problem.

It was a serious problem.

And he had done all that
he could think to do and all
00:06:49.24\00:06:52.38
that he could find to do
and as far as regular medicine
00:06:52.41\00:06:56.14
could allow him.

He had spent 2-1/2 years...
00:06:57.15\00:06:59.53
He had spent a quarter
of a million dollars...

and he had been to
23 different doctors

to try to find out
what his problem was and

how to cure him of his problem.

And he was no better for
his time with these doctors

and the money going out.

And finally, he said,
"Well I'll go Uchee Pines. "

And he came to Uchee
Pines and I had the privilege of

having this
brother as my patient.

And each day, we would
take him into the treatment room

and I read some
literature and I said,

okay, it was something to
do with his intestinal tract

he had some type of
a problem in there...

and I read through
some of Kellogg's materials

and other materials and I
did some very simple things...

I would do a Russian
steam bath on him each day
00:07:39.61\00:07:42.64
and after the Russian steam bath
00:07:42.67\00:07:44.09
I'd have him stand up in
our Russian steam bath room
00:07:44.12\00:07:47.16
and I took a hose with
cold water and I would spray it
00:07:47.19\00:07:51.19
in a very sharp spray and
I'd start on his ascending
00:07:51.22\00:07:55.20
colon and I would just
work up the ascending colon,
00:07:55.23\00:07:59.05
across the
transverse colon and down the
00:07:59.08\00:08:02.21
descending colon.
00:08:02.24\00:08:04.15
Every day I would do this.

And we did these simple things.

We were doing our part.

He was, at last, doing his part.

We had him on a good
diet and lots of fiber.

We were doing the
things that we knew to do and

just praying for that miracle.

Well one Friday night,

my patient was lying in bed.
00:08:21.03\00:08:24.07
He was sound in sleep,
his back was to his wife,
00:08:24.10\00:08:26.69
who was in another bed on
the other side of the room.
00:08:26.72\00:08:27.69
He was facing the wall
and he heard his name called.
00:08:28.70\00:08:32.17
And he woke up, and he
rolled over to see what
00:08:32.20\00:08:35.29
his wife wanted and
she was sound asleep.
00:08:35.32\00:08:37.40
So he rolled back over
again to go back to sleep,

and he heard his
name being called again.

And he was wide awake now...

and a voice told him,
"Brother you are healed. "

And you know
what, he WAS healed.

The next morning, in
church on Sabbath morning,

he asked permission to come
forward and give a testimony.

And he gave the testimony about
how long he had wrestled with

this problem, and how
much money it has cost him and

ALL the doctors he had seen
00:09:06.49\00:09:08.17
and all the
things that we had done.
00:09:08.20\00:09:09.63
Then he says but, "last night
God told me I was healed. "

And he was, indeed, healed.

He went home...

whatever the problem was...

completely clear of the problem.

God blessed... and I
think that's the way God does

His miracles nowadays.

We did all we knew to do.

We were faithful in
giving God the glory with the

hot water, the cold
water, the forceful water...

And God then gave the results.

Yes, it was a miracle.

We consider it a miracle.

a miracle because

we don't deserve
it in the first place.

should believe that prayer,

people to trust in Him.

This is the prayer
that the Lord gave to us.

And the first
thing is the address.

As you know, the Lord
taught us to say, "Our Father"

address Him as "Our Father. "

This is the term that
He wants us to give Him.

OUR Father... how
intimate, how personal...

where He is... His location.

Then, the next part of
prayer is the characteristic.

we can only know of Him

that we have in the Bible

thing is the character of God.

Then, the next part of the
Lord's Prayer is the WORK that

here on this earth.

hallowed... that He loves us.

Our gratitude should flow
over to Him for the wonderful

things that He has done for us.

When we present our petition,

parts of prayer...

and it isn't necessary that
it be canned but that we know

that these are things that God
SEES that the human being NEEDS

As we go over these things,
God then looks at our petition

and can see that
it's the heart-cry.

I would like healing but

If it is not best

And so as we go through
these parts of the Lord's Prayer

repent and have the gratitude
that the Lord only can fill

the heart with as we know Him.

Then we are very much prepared
to accept His will in all things

church-goers live longer.

That's one blessing there,

means shorter hospital stays.

Also, that God blesses the
health of those who trust in Him

These are 3 very good
reasons to trust the Lord...

A longer life... people will do
anything today to live longer.

Some of the people in
hospitals, their last days there

anything and everything
is done to prolong life.

And yet, if they
would trust in God,

they would find that He would
lengthen their lives many times

and have shorter hospital stays

and our health is improved.

God has given directions
on how we can do that.

We have a part to play and
that part is very important.

We're told that we
are to trust in the Lord

should acknowledge Him and He

as when we come into the world,

We are totally dependent
on others to do for us.

We have no ability,
no strength, no anything

when we come into the world.

But the Lord provides for
those who come into this world.

But we see that
as we grow older,

we begin to trust our mothers
and fathers and our big sisters

that trust higher to the Lord.

There's a great need for that.

of each individual,

We WANT to be able to trust.

And yet, tomorrow is in God's
hands... it always has been.

And we always have been,
whether we recognize it or not.

And we see that the
sun goes around every day,
