Water was given to us by a loving creator for luxury 00:00:01.96\00:00:05.83 and utility, it has so many uses and of course it's awfully 00:00:05.87\00:00:10.27 pleasant to use water, so we hope that you will stay by 00:00:10.31\00:00:14.44 with us in this program when we discuss the benefits of water. 00:00:14.48\00:00:17.75 Welcome to Help Yourself To Health 00:00:37.93\00:00:40.44 with Dr. Agatha Thrash of Uchee Pines Institute 00:00:40.47\00:00:43.64 and now here is your host Dr. Thrash. 00:00:43.67\00:00:46.68 Water is the most abundant compound on the face of the 00:00:46.71\00:00:52.08 earth, we see it everywhere, we see it in the air, we see it 00:00:52.11\00:00:55.82 on the land, we see it as rain, and we also have it coming out 00:00:55.85\00:01:00.19 of our pipes into our own homes. 00:01:00.22\00:01:02.12 In all of these ways we can say that our Divine Designer 00:01:02.16\00:01:06.80 has made it so that this earth is a user friendly place for us, 00:01:06.83\00:01:12.17 user friendly because we have everything that we need that 00:01:12.20\00:01:15.70 makes us so that we can enjoy the earth that the Lord has made 00:01:15.74\00:01:20.58 for us, now John Champen who is a health educator at Uchee Pines 00:01:20.61\00:01:25.11 will be assisting me in our discussion of water and at this 00:01:25.15\00:01:30.29 time John Champen will talk with you about some of the 00:01:30.32\00:01:33.05 benefits of water inside the body. 00:01:33.09\00:01:35.16 - Thank you! We understand that water comprises most of what 00:01:35.19\00:01:41.00 we really are, our graphics here today is going to show us 00:01:41.03\00:01:46.23 just what we are: 00:01:46.27\00:01:47.97 That's a lot of water, what does it do for us? 00:02:02.08\00:02:05.79 The second graphics will show that some of the things that 00:02:05.82\00:02:08.79 water does for us within the body: 00:02:08.82\00:02:10.89 Which we constantly need, the body is constantly giving off 00:02:13.03\00:02:16.20 waste, every cell that functions gives off waste and the body 00:02:16.23\00:02:20.47 has to get rid of it, water is the meaning for doing that. 00:02:20.50\00:02:22.90 It cleanses the body tissues and invigorates the vital organs 00:02:22.94\00:02:26.71 and proper use promotes health, it promotes vigor and health. 00:02:26.74\00:02:32.61 Some a little bit more and some a little bit less depending 00:02:42.89\00:02:45.36 upon their body structure. 00:02:45.39\00:02:46.73 Through our eyes alone, every time we blink, every time our 00:03:08.48\00:03:12.29 eyes are open moisture is being lost through that medium. 00:03:12.32\00:03:16.86 Dr. Thrash what about water outside the body? 00:03:50.26\00:03:53.26 - We might think with all these benefits of water inside 00:03:53.29\00:03:56.87 the body that that would completely exhaust the 00:03:56.90\00:04:00.40 capabilities of water for us, but far from that there are 00:04:00.44\00:04:04.87 many benefits of water outside the body and Don Miller is going 00:04:04.91\00:04:10.21 to be telling us some things about water on the outside 00:04:10.25\00:04:13.42 of the body as well, and water outside the body can be used 00:04:13.45\00:04:17.69 to treat and to prevent disease and to reduce various symptoms 00:04:17.72\00:04:23.49 that we get so at this point Don Miller will talk with us 00:04:23.53\00:04:27.43 about some ways that water is used outside the body. 00:04:27.46\00:04:30.40 - You know we all use water outside the body when we take 00:04:30.43\00:04:33.20 something as simple as a bath or a shower. 00:04:33.23\00:04:35.17 I remember a few years ago I wanted some outdoor activity 00:04:35.20\00:04:40.28 so I decided to do something different from what I was doing 00:04:40.31\00:04:43.11 so I took a job planting trees in the upper peninsula of 00:04:43.14\00:04:47.25 Michigan in September, now it gets pretty cold up there 00:04:47.28\00:04:50.85 and I remember going out that first day of planting trees, 00:04:50.89\00:04:55.29 and planting trees is a hard, dirty, exhausting, sweaty job 00:04:55.32\00:04:59.29 even if it is cool out and I spent the whole day with my 00:04:59.33\00:05:02.33 Hoedad putting trees in the ground, putting trees is in the 00:05:02.60\00:05:05.03 ground, at the end of the day I was tired and I was also dirty 00:05:05.07\00:05:09.84 and there is one thing that I can't do, I cannot go to bed 00:05:09.87\00:05:12.01 dirty, especially if you have a sleeping bag, you figure I've 00:05:12.04\00:05:14.88 got to get into that sleeping bag for the next month 00:05:14.91\00:05:17.21 and if I go in there every night dirty I wouldn't be able to 00:05:17.25\00:05:20.55 survive and so I said I have to take a bath. 00:05:20.58\00:05:22.28 Now my tent didn't have a bath tub, shower, Jacuzzi, 00:05:22.32\00:05:25.12 nothing, so I started looking around for a place to take a 00:05:25.15\00:05:27.79 bath, now we are out in the middle of nowhere, in the woods, 00:05:27.82\00:05:30.23 and I took a walk through the woods and I came upon a lake, 00:05:30.26\00:05:34.00 this nice big lake and there was nothing around some moose 00:05:34.03\00:05:38.13 and some bear, but nothing else just me, moose, and bear in this 00:05:38.17\00:05:42.14 very very cold water. 00:05:42.17\00:05:43.51 I decided I've got to take a bath in this water, and that 00:05:43.54\00:05:46.71 was a very tough decision to make because it was truly 00:05:46.74\00:05:49.34 cold water, so I went back and got my towel, a change of 00:05:49.38\00:05:53.62 clothes and my bar of soap and I stood there for a few 00:05:53.65\00:05:56.38 moments getting up the nerve and I finally disrobed and I 00:05:56.42\00:05:59.55 jumped into this very frigidly cold water. 00:05:59.59\00:06:02.89 It was quite an exhilarating experience, I've never taken 00:06:02.92\00:06:06.03 a bath so fast in my life, I suspect I was in and out 00:06:06.06\00:06:08.56 in 20 seconds, but I was clean and I think that all the dirt 00:06:08.60\00:06:12.43 just froze and fell off. 00:06:12.47\00:06:13.80 As soon as I got out and dried 00:06:13.84\00:06:15.54 off and put on my clothes this wonderful glow came over my 00:06:15.57\00:06:19.31 body, it was the most wonderful feeling that I ever had, because 00:06:19.34\00:06:22.61 what happens when you get into a water situation you are 00:06:22.64\00:06:26.51 increasing your circulation and we know the saying that says 00:06:26.55\00:06:29.92 perfect health requires perfect circulation, and hydrotherapy 00:06:29.95\00:06:34.72 is all about circulation, we realize that we have good blood 00:06:34.79\00:06:38.23 by eating good food and if we get that good blood 00:06:38.26\00:06:41.00 everywhere we are going to feel good and I felt great. 00:06:41.03\00:06:44.27 I'm going to tell you about one simple hydrotherapy technique, 00:06:44.30\00:06:47.97 the one I just mentioned and I call that a short cold bath 00:06:48.00\00:06:50.81 which is a very effective method, as a matter of fact 00:06:50.84\00:06:53.84 who are know for their longevity always take tepid to cool baths 00:06:53.88\00:07:01.75 this habit of taking hot baths all the time is really 00:07:01.78\00:07:05.19 debilitating to our system. 00:07:05.22\00:07:06.76 Hot baths are what we consider therapeutic baths so I'm going 00:07:06.79\00:07:12.03 to show you what we call a contrast bath and it takes some 00:07:12.06\00:07:15.93 pretty simple equipment, you have a basin and basically in 00:07:15.96\00:07:19.20 the basin you put some water and since it is contrast that 00:07:19.23\00:07:23.10 means that the water is contrasted. 00:07:23.14\00:07:25.04 First basin will be hot water, the second basin would be cold 00:07:25.07\00:07:29.14 water, let's say you have an infected hand, or you sprained 00:07:29.18\00:07:33.45 your hand and after the first 36 hours of a sprain where you 00:07:33.48\00:07:37.19 only use ice then you go to a contrast bath, and I did this 00:07:37.22\00:07:40.92 one time with my ankle, sprained my ankle, iced it down for the 00:07:40.96\00:07:44.66 first 24- 36 hours and then I did a contrast bath, 00:07:44.69\00:07:49.73 I put my foot down into this bucket of very very warm water 00:07:49.76\00:07:54.64 as warm as I can tolerate it, left it there for three minutes 00:07:54.67\00:07:58.84 after three minutes I took my foot out and I put it down 00:07:58.87\00:08:02.11 into a basin of cold water, as cold as I could make it, 00:08:02.14\00:08:06.31 for thirty seconds and I went back and forth, back and forth 00:08:06.35\00:08:09.78 between the hot water and the cold water, two days after 00:08:09.82\00:08:15.26 I sprained my ankle I had very little pain the third day 00:08:15.29\00:08:18.69 no limp no pain but my foot was completely purple from the fact 00:08:18.73\00:08:23.20 that I truly had sprained it. 00:08:23.23\00:08:24.90 So you can use a treatment like this what we call a contrast 00:08:24.93\00:08:28.20 bath three minutes in hot, thirty seconds in cold on about 00:08:28.24\00:08:32.87 any part of your body. 00:08:32.91\00:08:34.24 A few years ago there was a young man at Uchee Pines 00:08:34.28\00:08:38.21 who had a sinus infection and they asked me to give him 00:08:38.25\00:08:43.15 a series of treatments, the first treatment I gave him 00:08:43.18\00:08:45.92 what we call a fomentation pack a sinus pack with full 00:08:45.95\00:08:49.72 fomentations, which was fine but it wasn't as robust as I 00:08:49.76\00:08:53.60 wanted it to be and it's rather time consuming, both of our 00:08:53.63\00:08:57.40 time was rather limited so I decided to do a contrast bath 00:08:57.43\00:09:01.80 on the man's head. 00:09:01.84\00:09:03.17 It's hard to hold someone's head underneath hot water for 00:09:03.20\00:09:06.17 three minutes and so I said I better not do that he might 00:09:06.21\00:09:09.01 not survive the treatment and so what I did was I went to a 00:09:09.04\00:09:13.62 Wal-Mart store and I brought a snorkel, so I put the snorkel 00:09:13.65\00:09:17.15 in the man's mouth, put his head in the water, 00:09:17.19\00:09:19.59 heat his foot, just like ducking for apples. 00:09:20.42\00:09:22.52 He put his face in the water was breathing naturally through 00:09:22.56\00:09:25.73 the snorkel for three minutes and then after three minutes 00:09:25.76\00:09:28.56 was up I just tapped his head, he would bring his head up 00:09:28.60\00:09:31.10 out of the water and go over and put it into the ice, 00:09:31.13\00:09:34.20 I had ice floating it was fun, put his head down in the 00:09:34.24\00:09:37.94 ice water thirty seconds, while his head was in the ice water 00:09:37.97\00:09:41.34 I added more warm water to the warm water bucket because 00:09:41.38\00:09:44.71 then his face could take more warm coming from the contrast 00:09:44.75\00:09:48.32 of the cold, I would tap his head after thirty seconds, 00:09:48.35\00:09:52.02 head come up out of the cold water, down into the hot water 00:09:52.05\00:09:55.92 three minutes all the time breathing. 00:09:55.96\00:09:58.23 I did that that night six to seven times, now what's 00:09:58.26\00:10:02.76 happening when you do a treatment like this in a 00:10:02.80\00:10:04.63 contrast bath? 00:10:04.67\00:10:06.00 First of all, when you put any part of your body in any kind 00:10:06.03\00:10:09.44 kind of water your first reaction is vasoconstriction 00:10:09.47\00:10:12.84 that's your first reaction but immediately upon that first 00:10:12.87\00:10:16.75 reaction in hot water you get vasodilatation, your vascular 00:10:16.78\00:10:20.15 system dilates as big as it can get which is going to then 00:10:20.18\00:10:23.85 bring in more blood flow, now why would it bring in more 00:10:23.89\00:10:26.79 First of all you only have so much blood volume in your body 00:10:26.82\00:10:30.73 and so if you make the passage of the blood larger more blood 00:10:30.76\00:10:34.60 is going to come in there, so you have much more blood coming 00:10:34.63\00:10:37.27 in which is going to bring more oxygen, more nutrients, 00:10:37.30\00:10:40.84 more white blood cells, and more heat to the area all of 00:10:40.87\00:10:44.74 which increase the healing process, and then when you come 00:10:44.77\00:10:49.14 out of the hot and go into the cold you again have 00:10:49.18\00:10:51.95 vasoconstriction, so everything tightens down but after a few 00:10:51.98\00:10:56.25 seconds in that water it starts opening up again because the 00:10:56.28\00:10:59.62 body says look we're cold we've got to warm this part 00:10:59.65\00:11:02.79 of the body back up. 00:11:02.82\00:11:04.16 Now a prolonged cold treatment will after awhile go back into 00:11:04.19\00:11:09.63 sustained constriction but normally after a short time 00:11:09.66\00:11:12.73 in cold you start getting a vasodilatation, then you take 00:11:12.77\00:11:16.24 them out of the cold water into the hot water full dilation 00:11:16.27\00:11:19.67 you go back and forth a few times, like doing anything else 00:11:19.71\00:11:22.41 with exercise, you are making your vascular system stronger 00:11:22.44\00:11:26.01 which is what I was doing for this young man, at the same 00:11:26.05\00:11:28.58 time bringing in more nutrients and more white blood cells 00:11:28.62\00:11:31.12 more oxygen all of which are necessary, vital for the healing 00:11:31.15\00:11:34.89 process, he got some good relief, opening up the vascular 00:11:34.92\00:11:40.26 system and all the passages in his sinus passages would 00:11:40.30\00:11:44.33 cause him to drain more and he came out of the treatments 00:11:44.37\00:11:47.20 breathing quite nicely and was pretty much over his problem 00:11:47.24\00:11:50.57 after just one series of treatments. 00:11:50.61\00:11:52.54 You can do this with an arthritic hand or an arthritic 00:11:52.57\00:11:55.88 limb just putting it into the hot and the cold water, 00:11:55.91\00:11:58.51 you get some real good pain relief, basically any pain 00:11:58.55\00:12:02.32 any type of inflammation, it's very good to go through the 00:12:02.35\00:12:05.59 hot and the cold treatments and it's a lot of fun. 00:12:05.62\00:12:09.36 Let's say you've got a cold coming on, you're just feeling 00:12:09.39\00:12:14.03 sick, you can do a contrast shower, many people do this 00:12:14.06\00:12:17.70 all the time and I don't advise that because if you do a 00:12:17.73\00:12:20.74 contrast shower, people say yeah I take a hot shower and I 00:12:20.77\00:12:23.87 turn on all cold at the end, that's therapeutic and anything 00:12:23.91\00:12:26.91 that you do therapeutically all the time is like saying 00:12:26.94\00:12:29.44 wolf, wolf, to your body and pretty soon the effect is 00:12:29.48\00:12:33.48 a little bit less and so what you should basically do is 00:12:33.52\00:12:37.25 at all times do a tepid shower but when you are not 00:12:37.29\00:12:40.82 feeling good take that hot shower turn it on all cold 00:12:40.86\00:12:44.59 as long as your heart can stand it or tepid if your heart 00:12:44.63\00:12:47.70 is not quite as strong and then go back to hot, cold, 00:12:47.73\00:12:50.87 hot, cold, about five to six changes and you will find that 00:12:50.90\00:12:54.74 your immune system's been increased. 00:12:54.77\00:12:56.60 After a treatment like that or any of these treatments 00:12:56.64\00:12:59.21 you want to dry off and lay down and rest for about an hour 00:12:59.24\00:13:02.44 and you will find that something as simple as a plastic bucket 00:13:02.48\00:13:06.35 full of hot and cold water is going to give some marvelous 00:13:06.38\00:13:10.09 results, God put some amazing powers in water and I believe 00:13:10.12\00:13:14.29 water combined with prayer and the wise use of it God has 00:13:14.32\00:13:19.16 some miracles still in store for us in these last days 00:13:19.19\00:13:22.60 of earth's history. 00:13:22.63\00:13:23.97 What do you think about that Dr. Thrash? 00:13:24.00\00:13:25.40 - So essentially when you go from the hot to the cold and 00:13:25.43\00:13:28.80 from the hot and the cold you are essentially making the 00:13:28.84\00:13:31.71 blood vessels have a pump and you are pumping in good 00:13:31.74\00:13:35.91 nutrients and immune bodies to the blood and that refreshes 00:13:35.94\00:13:41.98 and heals the area that you are treating. 00:13:42.02\00:13:44.72 - That's what we want to do too. 00:13:44.75\00:13:46.09 Very good treatment, and I like the contrast bath very well. 00:13:46.12\00:13:52.09 Now water has some other very good benefits, one of those is 00:13:52.13\00:13:56.40 that it is a lubricant, it lubricates various surfaces 00:13:56.43\00:14:00.14 it lubricates the joints so that as they move back and forth 00:14:00.17\00:14:03.04 they are lubricated and made to glide as surfaces 00:14:03.07\00:14:08.38 much more easily. 00:14:08.41\00:14:09.74 Another place that we are lubricated is in the chest 00:14:09.78\00:14:15.18 the lungs are lubricated both internally as well as on the 00:14:15.22\00:14:20.02 surface where the lung has to slip against the chest wall 00:14:20.06\00:14:24.39 so as it slips against the chest wall if we have plenty of 00:14:24.43\00:14:27.76 water there or plenty of fluid there then there is a very good 00:14:27.80\00:14:32.20 feeling that the person has. 00:14:32.23\00:14:34.30 If the water dries up then there is a scraping of the surface 00:14:34.34\00:14:41.48 against the surface of the lung against the chest cavity that 00:14:41.51\00:14:45.71 we call Pleurisy and that can make a very difficult to 00:14:45.75\00:14:50.65 tolerate problem. 00:14:50.69\00:14:52.35 We must lubricate the organs such as the bladder and the 00:14:52.39\00:15:00.53 gall bladder, if a person drinks plenty of water it's unlikely 00:15:00.56\00:15:04.50 or very much less likely they will get gall stones, 00:15:04.53\00:15:08.27 and if they drink plenty of water it's less likely that 00:15:08.30\00:15:11.04 they will get kidney stones or bladder stones and so we 00:15:11.07\00:15:15.34 urge people who are stone formers to be very careful 00:15:15.38\00:15:18.85 about getting plenty of water so that they don't have a 00:15:18.88\00:15:22.88 difficulty there with their genetic disease. 00:15:22.92\00:15:26.76 Now there are many other hydrotherapeutic treatments 00:15:26.79\00:15:31.46 that we can give and John Champen is going to show us 00:15:31.49\00:15:34.90 some of these very good treatments now. 00:15:34.93\00:15:37.73 - Water can be used for cold or hot or it can be used as ice, 00:15:37.77\00:15:43.17 we are going to go to the screen now and take a look at some 00:15:43.20\00:15:45.81 of reasons for using ice: 00:15:45.84\00:15:48.28 And for most people they respond quite well to that. 00:15:56.42\00:15:59.72 Also some of the indications are: 00:15:59.75\00:16:03.26 Our next graphic shows us sometimes when we perhaps 00:16:32.95\00:16:37.86 would not want to use it: 00:16:37.89\00:16:39.23 That's a constriction of the blood vessel where there is a 00:16:58.75\00:17:02.12 real chilling there, you wouldn't want to use it then, 00:17:02.15\00:17:04.89 and we also have a precaution here: 00:17:04.92\00:17:07.32 And now with those restrictions and those indications we simply 00:17:15.70\00:17:21.84 going to use ice to treat a tennis elbow, this is the ice 00:17:21.87\00:17:28.81 from the equivalent of one ice tray placed in a plastic bag 00:17:28.84\00:17:33.62 that is sealed and then we will use a pillow normally, 00:17:33.65\00:17:41.46 and I'm going to have her hold this, we would normally use a 00:17:41.49\00:17:46.59 pillow, place the elbow in there and it would cradle right there 00:17:46.63\00:17:49.63 with another bag over top, the treatment for this is about 00:17:49.66\00:17:55.64 five to ten minutes and relief is given right away to that 00:17:55.67\00:18:00.94 tennis elbow, if this was an ankle or a sprain or strain 00:18:00.98\00:18:06.48 of an ankle you might want to do the same thing for about 00:18:06.51\00:18:09.38 twenty minutes, a very simple treatment yet very effective. 00:18:09.42\00:18:15.16 Water can be used in many different ways, ice, steam, 00:18:15.19\00:18:20.46 inside the body, outside the body and there are tremendous 00:18:20.50\00:18:26.94 helps that are received then. 00:18:26.97\00:18:29.37 Inflammation is greatly reduced when ice is used, ice has a 00:18:29.40\00:18:36.41 very calming effect on the entire system, Dr. Thrash! 00:18:36.44\00:18:41.02 - That was very interesting about the ice being very 00:18:41.05\00:18:45.25 helpful for tennis elbow, it's also helpful for injuries 00:18:45.29\00:18:50.26 that athletes get and that musicians get in the hands. 00:18:50.29\00:18:54.26 We had a musician one time a harpist who got a trigger finger 00:18:54.30\00:19:01.24 and couldn't play the harp any more and so we recommended 00:19:01.27\00:19:07.48 for her a treatment with ice, but this was ice water. 00:19:07.51\00:19:12.05 Ice directly on the skin must be kept moving or it might cause 00:19:12.08\00:19:19.39 a frostbite, some people will react very severely to ice 00:19:19.42\00:19:25.03 and so you need to keep it moving all the time, 00:19:25.06\00:19:27.70 but in her case we had her to put her hand in ice water. 00:19:27.73\00:19:32.80 Ice water can be tolerated quite nicely by the tissues 00:19:32.83\00:19:36.71 but it is not so pleasant for the person, so we recommend 00:19:36.74\00:19:40.81 that they set a timer for twenty minutes because that is the 00:19:40.84\00:19:44.35 duration of the treatment so they put the hand in the 00:19:44.38\00:19:47.38 ice water with ice cubes floating around on the top 00:19:47.42\00:19:50.89 and then they can watch the ticking of the timer as it ticks 00:19:50.92\00:19:56.83 off the minutes because by about five minutes they will 00:19:56.86\00:20:00.73 begin to say oh I'm sure I've been in here twenty minutes 00:20:00.76\00:20:03.67 already, and there are fifteen minutes yet to go. 00:20:03.70\00:20:06.23 So one has to be very careful to go the full length of time 00:20:06.27\00:20:10.54 to get the full benefit of the treatment. 00:20:10.57\00:20:13.51 Now water will also dissolve the various toxins and one of 00:20:13.54\00:20:19.75 the things that causes a person to accumulate various toxins in 00:20:19.78\00:20:26.22 the body is the and is expressed in the form of a headache, 00:20:26.25\00:20:31.23 so with a headache there is usually not anything wrong 00:20:31.26\00:20:35.23 with a head, usually not anything wrong with the 00:20:35.26\00:20:37.77 blood vessels when a person has a headache, but there may be 00:20:37.80\00:20:41.90 toxins or antibodies or antigens or antigen antibody complexes 00:20:41.94\00:20:47.88 in the body that cause the person to have a headache. 00:20:47.91\00:20:51.15 So with the headache the first thing to try is a glass full 00:20:51.18\00:20:55.25 of water every ten minutes for an hour, now of course an 00:20:55.28\00:20:58.82 individual who has kidney disease will have been told 00:20:58.85\00:21:02.79 by their physician that they must not take water in that 00:21:02.82\00:21:06.83 quantity so they will know that they should not do that, 00:21:06.86\00:21:09.63 but for individuals who are healthy and have healthy kidneys 00:21:09.66\00:21:12.90 they can very easily do that. 00:21:12.93\00:21:14.77 Now the glass of water every ten minutes for an hour can be 00:21:14.80\00:21:19.37 done by a number of people for a number of different 00:21:19.41\00:21:23.18 kinds of problems. 00:21:23.21\00:21:24.55 I remember one time my son had a bad cough, we went to bed 00:21:24.58\00:21:30.92 and we had been in bed maybe five minutes when we heard 00:21:30.95\00:21:34.76 from the other room my son coughing, so I said son get a 00:21:34.79\00:21:40.43 glass of water and drink it, so I heard these steps going 00:21:40.46\00:21:44.10 down to the kitchen, glass of water and he went back to bed 00:21:44.13\00:21:47.57 a little bit he coughed again I said son get another glass 00:21:47.60\00:21:51.44 of water, back down to the kitchen another glass of water 00:21:51.47\00:21:55.11 came back to bed in a little bit he coughed again. 00:21:55.14\00:21:58.55 So this time I said drink a glass full there and bring 00:21:58.58\00:22:00.98 another glass full and put it beside your bed. 00:22:01.02\00:22:03.99 But after the third glass of water his cough went away 00:22:04.02\00:22:07.69 and so he had no more cough the rest of the night he was 00:22:07.72\00:22:10.33 able to sleep and so were we, everybody was able to sleep 00:22:10.36\00:22:14.46 at that time. 00:22:14.50\00:22:15.83 Now water is also a vehicle for red blood cells, 00:22:15.86\00:22:20.40 white blood cells, and for platelets, these are the formed 00:22:20.44\00:22:25.17 elements in the blood, and so the individual who wants to 00:22:25.21\00:22:30.01 have healthy circulation must have plenty of water in the 00:22:30.05\00:22:34.12 blood, and it's a known fact that individuals who 00:22:34.15\00:22:37.19 do not drink much water tend to have more blood clots 00:22:37.22\00:22:41.02 they tend to get more strokes, they also tend to get more 00:22:41.06\00:22:44.53 thrombophlebitis, that's a clotting of blood inside blood 00:22:44.56\00:22:50.37 vessels, usually in the lower extremities either in the 00:22:50.40\00:22:53.37 pelvic veins or in the lower extremities, thighs, calves, 00:22:53.40\00:23:00.18 and even in the feet, so drinking plenty of water can 00:23:00.21\00:23:03.18 make a nice vehicle to keep the fluid elements of the blood 00:23:03.21\00:23:08.08 fluid, we want to keep the blood flowing nicely. 00:23:08.12\00:23:11.52 Now platelets because they tend to stick together under certain 00:23:11.55\00:23:16.16 circumstances will stick together more if the person is 00:23:16.19\00:23:20.56 dehydrated and so that's a good way to prevent clotting 00:23:20.60\00:23:24.30 of you blood inside your blood vessels. 00:23:24.33\00:23:27.30 There was once a woman who came to one of my meetings 00:23:27.34\00:23:31.31 who sat right down on the second row with another group 00:23:31.34\00:23:35.91 of women and as soon as I started talking I introduced 00:23:35.94\00:23:40.35 my topic which for that time was water. 00:23:40.38\00:23:43.28 Almost immediately this lady got up and walked out and I 00:23:43.32\00:23:49.12 thought "Oh she was probably offended" because of the very 00:23:49.16\00:23:53.16 simplicity of the remedies that I am going to be talking about 00:23:53.19\00:23:56.87 so she left the meeting and I suspect I will never see her 00:23:56.90\00:24:01.37 again at a meeting. 00:24:01.40\00:24:02.94 Well we had our hour in the meeting and at the end of the 00:24:02.97\00:24:07.84 hour this woman came back in and came walking right down 00:24:07.88\00:24:12.95 front with a good bit of purpose and I thought oh, I'm probably 00:24:12.98\00:24:17.45 get a scolding now she's probably going to tell me how 00:24:17.49\00:24:22.69 impossible it is to make water do the things that I was 00:24:22.72\00:24:27.06 saying that it would do. 00:24:27.10\00:24:28.43 But instead of that this woman came right down front she said 00:24:28.46\00:24:32.60 Dr. Thrash when you started talking I had such a headache 00:24:32.63\00:24:38.57 that I thought I would not be able to sit through this meeting 00:24:38.61\00:24:41.74 and when you said a glass full of water every ten minutes for 00:24:41.78\00:24:44.91 an hour might help a headache I went out and took the glass 00:24:44.95\00:24:50.09 full of water every ten minutes for the hour and I want to 00:24:50.12\00:24:53.22 tell you that my headache is almost gone, she was a very good 00:24:53.25\00:24:57.96 attendee of the meetings on Simple Remedies from then on. 00:24:57.99\00:25:02.93 So let me encourage you to remember that you can have 00:25:02.96\00:25:07.07 a great benefit for a headache from a glass full of water 00:25:07.10\00:25:11.57 every ten minutes for an hour. 00:25:11.61\00:25:13.04 A person can also get a lot of benefit from a headache for 00:25:13.07\00:25:18.35 just a simple treatment like a massage, massage of the neck 00:25:18.38\00:25:23.75 and the lower portion of the scalp muscles, those can also 00:25:23.79\00:25:29.56 give one a very good benefit for a headache. 00:25:29.59\00:25:33.50 Women often have a problem with feeling weak, they just 00:25:33.53\00:25:39.33 tell you that they are just to weak to do their house work, 00:25:39.37\00:25:42.74 especially in the morning, it takes them a long time to get 00:25:42.77\00:25:45.77 going in the morning. 00:25:45.81\00:25:47.14 Often for these individuals I will say to them do you drink 00:25:47.18\00:25:51.18 water in the morning? And often they say No! I can't 00:25:51.21\00:25:56.89 really tolerate water in the morning, in fact if I drink 00:25:56.92\00:26:01.29 water in the morning I'm going to throw up I know I will 00:26:01.32\00:26:04.13 I always do, and I say to them start with a thimble full of 00:26:04.16\00:26:09.73 water but you need to drink because your problem with 00:26:09.76\00:26:13.13 feeling weak in the morning is that you are simply wilted. 00:26:13.17\00:26:17.24 You don't have your forces about you because of the fact 00:26:17.27\00:26:23.85 that you don't have enough water on board. 00:26:23.88\00:26:26.38 And so by starting with a small amount of water, the next 00:26:26.41\00:26:30.75 morning double that amount and usually you can do that without 00:26:30.79\00:26:34.29 feeling nauseated. 00:26:34.32\00:26:35.66 A lot of people will tell you that even so they don't feel 00:26:35.69\00:26:38.99 good drinking water, they simply have no appetite 00:26:39.03\00:26:41.66 for water, that makes them tell you that they can't stand 00:26:41.70\00:26:48.20 the taste of water. 00:26:48.24\00:26:49.57 So what do you do for these individuals, it's to give them 00:26:49.60\00:26:53.51 some kind of tea, the tea can be catnip tea which is a sort of 00:26:53.54\00:26:59.41 sedative tea, or it can be mint tea, which can be sedative 00:26:59.45\00:27:04.52 if you need a sedative, but if you need to be perked up then 00:27:04.55\00:27:08.06 mint tea can also have that kind of function for you, and so it's 00:27:08.09\00:27:12.53 a very good way to improve the person's appetite for water. 00:27:12.56\00:27:19.53 Whatever your experience with water may be remember that the 00:27:19.57\00:27:24.94 body needs about eight glasses of water every day, that's 00:27:24.97\00:27:31.25 provided you are under the age of 50, if you are over the age 00:27:31.28\00:27:34.55 of 50 then you may need a little more than that, so remember to 00:27:34.58\00:27:39.92 keep the water that you have in your system always at a good 00:27:39.95\00:27:46.39 level so that you can have good lubrication, you can also have 00:27:46.43\00:27:50.73 that good benefit of strength that comes from water. 00:27:50.77\00:27:54.80
