Shall we pray.
00:00:30.19\00:00:31.36
Oh mighty God, all
powerful, all wise, all knowing,
00:00:33.45\00:00:40.35
we come before You
this evening thanking You
00:00:41.25\00:00:45.01
for Your holy Word.
00:00:45.31\00:00:46.71
Father, it would be a terrible
thing to be in this world
00:00:47.60\00:00:50.85
without Your holy book.
00:00:51.59\00:00:53.21
Because we wouldn't
know what's happening
00:00:53.76\00:00:55.97
and where things are moving to.
00:00:56.00\00:00:57.73
But we thank You that You
have given us a sure compass
00:00:58.22\00:01:02.86
that tells us where we
came from, why we're here,
00:01:03.06\00:01:05.91
and where things are moving to.
00:01:06.15\00:01:08.10
We ask, Father, for the
guidance of Your Holy Spirit
00:01:08.64\00:01:11.12
as we open Your Word.
00:01:11.15\00:01:12.98
And we thank You for hearing
our prayer, for we ask it
00:01:13.42\00:01:15.79
in Jesus' name, amen.
00:01:15.82\00:01:18.84
The first thing that we
want to do today in our study
00:01:19.78\00:01:23.16
is to review what we
studied in our last lecture.
00:01:23.19\00:01:27.42
And I'm going to go
through this quickly.
00:01:27.45\00:01:29.46
So hopefully you were
here last time and the review
00:01:29.76\00:01:33.22
will be sufficient in
order to understand where we're
00:01:33.25\00:01:36.70
going in Scripture
in our study tonight.
00:01:36.73\00:01:40.69
You remember that last
time studied the first part
00:01:40.99\00:01:43.94
of the 70 weeks.
00:01:43.97\00:01:45.50
And basically, we noticed that
the prophecy of the 70 weeks
00:01:45.87\00:01:49.64
begins from the going
forth of the command to restore
00:01:49.67\00:01:56.16
and to build Jerusalem.
00:01:56.19\00:01:58.71
We noticed that there
were four decrees given
00:01:59.24\00:02:02.00
with regards to Jerusalem.
00:02:02.03\00:02:03.72
The first decree was given in
536 by Cyrus, Cyrus the Great.
00:02:04.07\00:02:10.03
The second decree was
given by Darius in the year 520.
00:02:10.71\00:02:15.15
Neither one of these decrees
authorized the restoration
00:02:15.83\00:02:19.15
and building of Jerusalem.
00:02:19.18\00:02:21.27
They only authorized
the building of the temple.
00:02:21.30\00:02:24.56
And then we noticed the third
decree, which was the decree
00:02:24.98\00:02:28.15
of Artaxerxes the First.
00:02:28.18\00:02:29.85
It was given in the year 457 BC.
00:02:29.88\00:02:32.74
And we noticed that
this is the decree that fits
00:02:33.29\00:02:37.13
the biblical criteria for
the beginning of the 70 weeks.
00:02:37.16\00:02:40.62
And that's for three reasons.
00:02:40.81\00:02:42.13
First of all, Artaxerxes
uses the same word, "dabar,"
00:02:42.16\00:02:46.40
"command," as is
used in Daniel chapter 9.
00:02:46.43\00:02:50.11
Secondly, the other dates,
536 and 520, are far too early
00:02:50.60\00:02:56.61
for this to be a
Messianic prophecy.
00:02:57.04\00:02:59.35
And the last decree, which was
given in 445, which was really
00:02:59.68\00:03:04.51
a re-affirmation of the
decree that Artaxerxes had given
00:03:04.54\00:03:08.01
in the year 457, is too late.
00:03:08.04\00:03:10.97
And so none of the other
three decrees fit the criteria
00:03:11.17\00:03:14.98
as to time or the use of
the specific word, "dabar,"
00:03:15.01\00:03:19.70
which means, command or decree.
00:03:19.73\00:03:21.70
A third reason is that
we noticed in our study
00:03:21.97\00:03:25.14
that the decree of Artaxerxes
is the only one that authorized
00:03:25.50\00:03:30.55
the Jews to re-establish their
political and social order.
00:03:30.58\00:03:34.58
None of the other decrees
authorized them to really
00:03:34.91\00:03:38.21
begin once again the functioning
of the Hebrew theocracy.
00:03:38.24\00:03:42.63
So we noticed that the decree
to restore and build Jerusalem
00:03:43.33\00:03:48.25
began in the year 457 BC.
00:03:48.28\00:03:52.11
Actually, it was
in the fall of 457 BC.
00:03:52.26\00:03:56.47
And then we noticed that
during the first seven weeks,
00:03:56.80\00:03:59.35
the first 49 years,
seven times seven is 49,
00:03:59.38\00:04:02.34
was this period of the restoring
and building of Jerusalem.
00:04:03.15\00:04:06.99
And it was done
in troublesome times.
00:04:07.02\00:04:09.39
You can read, for
example, the book of Ezra.
00:04:09.42\00:04:11.92
All sorts of troubles and
opposition in the restoration
00:04:11.95\00:04:15.94
of the city and the
religion of the Jewish nation.
00:04:15.97\00:04:20.10
So the first seven weeks
have to do with the restoration
00:04:20.26\00:04:24.40
and building of Jerusalem.
00:04:24.43\00:04:25.92
And then it says, after
sixty-two additional weeks
00:04:26.12\00:04:29.63
the Messiah would come.
00:04:29.85\00:04:31.95
And the word,
"Messiah," means what?
00:04:32.21\00:04:34.66
The word, "Messiah,"
means, the anointed One.
00:04:34.69\00:04:38.24
And we noticed
that Jesus was anointed
00:04:38.60\00:04:41.33
at what event of His life?
00:04:41.36\00:04:43.39
He was anointed at
the moment of His baptism
00:04:43.59\00:04:46.90
with the Holy Spirit.
00:04:46.93\00:04:48.18
That is when the Messiah comes.
00:04:48.21\00:04:50.27
And that takes
place in the year 27 AD.
00:04:50.57\00:04:54.53
In fact, in the
fall of the year 27.
00:04:54.74\00:04:58.24
It would have to be in
the fall of the year 27
00:04:58.51\00:05:00.72
because the decree of Artaxerxes
was given in the fall of 457.
00:05:00.75\00:05:04.66
So you go forward 483 years
when the Messiah is anointed.
00:05:05.11\00:05:09.71
He would have to be anointed
in the fall for that to be
00:05:09.96\00:05:12.81
exactly 69 weeks.
00:05:12.84\00:05:14.94
Are you following me or not?
00:05:14.97\00:05:16.42
Now, another reason why
we know it was in the fall
00:05:16.88\00:05:20.77
is because Jesus was
killed in the spring.
00:05:20.80\00:05:23.96
So in order to know
when He was anointed
00:05:24.65\00:05:26.85
three and a half years earlier,
you would have to go back
00:05:26.88\00:05:30.30
three and a half years
from the spring of the year 31
00:05:30.33\00:05:33.69
when He was crucified.
00:05:33.72\00:05:34.92
So you go back to the
spring of the year 30,
00:05:34.95\00:05:37.74
to the spring of the year 29,
to the spring of the year 28,
00:05:38.06\00:05:43.15
and then another half a
year to the fall of the year 27.
00:05:43.38\00:05:48.76
So in other words,
the Messiah was anointed
00:05:48.96\00:05:51.56
in the year 27 AD.
00:05:51.87\00:05:55.09
And then we noticed that
sometime during this last week,
00:05:55.30\00:05:59.03
it's not specified in verse 26,
sometime during this last week
00:05:59.06\00:06:03.62
the Messiah would be cut off.
00:06:03.65\00:06:05.66
Which means that
He would be killed.
00:06:05.69\00:06:07.72
But it would not be for
Himself, it would be for others.
00:06:08.07\00:06:12.43
And then we noticed that
as a result of the cutting off
00:06:12.53\00:06:15.41
of the Messiah,
Jerusalem would be destroyed.
00:06:15.44\00:06:19.12
And in our study, we
noticed that Jerusalem would be
00:06:19.22\00:06:22.84
destroyed by the
people of the Prince.
00:06:22.87\00:06:25.03
And we saw three possibilities
as to who is the one,
00:06:25.23\00:06:29.73
who are the ones, or is
the one who brought about the
00:06:29.76\00:06:32.53
destruction of Jerusalem.
00:06:32.56\00:06:33.86
The first idea is
that it was Titus.
00:06:34.03\00:06:36.32
We noticed that
it cannot be Titus.
00:06:36.69\00:06:38.80
Because Titus could not confirm
the covenant for one week.
00:06:39.00\00:06:42.06
And Titus did not bring the
sacrifice and offering to an end
00:06:42.25\00:06:45.82
in the middle of the last week.
00:06:45.85\00:06:47.61
So Titus cannot fulfill this.
00:06:47.64\00:06:49.47
It also is not referring
to some future antichrist
00:06:49.82\00:06:52.99
after the rapture of the church.
00:06:53.02\00:06:54.62
Because we are studying
this prophecy in detail,
00:06:54.94\00:06:57.49
and we noticed that
this prophecy does not
00:06:57.52\00:07:00.08
deal with antichrist.
00:07:00.11\00:07:01.49
This prophecy deals with whom?
00:07:01.52\00:07:03.58
It deals with Christ.
00:07:03.61\00:07:05.44
It's a serious thing to take a
prophecy that applies to Christ
00:07:05.47\00:07:08.65
and apply it to the antichrist.
00:07:08.68\00:07:10.40
The devil does not want people
to know about this prophecy
00:07:10.43\00:07:13.42
because it is so
exact and specific
00:07:13.45\00:07:15.99
as to when the
Messiah was going to come.
00:07:16.02\00:07:18.31
The devil knows that
if people understand it,
00:07:18.63\00:07:20.60
they'll say, "God knows
the end from the beginning.
00:07:20.63\00:07:23.03
And Jesus came
exactly at the right time.
00:07:23.06\00:07:25.80
So we noticed in our study that
the Prince is actually Jesus.
00:07:26.15\00:07:30.54
He's already been identified
as Messiah the Prince.
00:07:30.57\00:07:34.15
And so, the
Prince is the Messiah.
00:07:34.32\00:07:36.76
And the people of
the Prince are whom?
00:07:37.02\00:07:39.45
The people of the
Prince are the Jewish nation.
00:07:39.78\00:07:43.15
And you say,
"Pastor, did the Jewish nation
00:07:43.25\00:07:45.97
destroy Jerusalem?"
00:07:46.00\00:07:47.85
What is the
answer to that question?
00:07:48.20\00:07:49.99
Yes, they did.
00:07:50.39\00:07:51.88
They did by
rejecting the Messiah;
00:07:51.91\00:07:55.50
by rejecting Jesus Christ.
00:07:55.53\00:07:57.70
Now we're at the point where
we can begin some new material,
00:07:57.97\00:08:00.87
studying the rest of the
prophecy of the 70 weeks.
00:08:01.42\00:08:05.37
And I invite you to go with me
to Daniel chapter 9 and verse 27
00:08:05.48\00:08:09.83
where we will
continue our study.
00:08:10.24\00:08:12.60
Now you notice that in verse
26, it tells us that sometime
00:08:13.45\00:08:18.45
during the last week,
Messiah would be cut off.
00:08:18.48\00:08:21.21
But it doesn't tell us precisely
when during that last week
00:08:21.72\00:08:25.39
Messiah would be cut off.
00:08:25.42\00:08:26.79
But verse 27 tells
us specifically when
00:08:27.13\00:08:32.03
He would be cut off.
00:08:32.06\00:08:34.01
And it also tells us that
He would confirm the covenant
00:08:34.04\00:08:38.33
for one week.
00:08:38.36\00:08:39.39
Now let's talk about, first
of all, the confirming of the
00:08:39.42\00:08:43.33
covenant for this
last week, week number 70.
00:08:43.36\00:08:47.12
Daniel 9 verse 27 says...
00:08:47.47\00:08:49.80
I'm reading from
the New King James.
00:08:55.34\00:08:57.29
Actually, many modern
versions do not translate,
00:08:57.59\00:09:01.11
"He shall confirm a covenant
with many for one week,"
00:09:01.14\00:09:04.00
but actually, "He shall
make strong the covenant,"
00:09:04.31\00:09:07.97
or a covenant, "for one week."
00:09:08.00\00:09:10.44
For example, the
English Standard Version says,
00:09:10.64\00:09:14.81
"And He shall make a
strong covenant with many
00:09:14.91\00:09:19.62
for one week."
00:09:19.65\00:09:20.68
The New American Standard
Bible says, "He shall make a
00:09:20.71\00:09:23.66
firm covenant."
00:09:23.69\00:09:25.07
The RSV says, "He shall
make a strong covenant."
00:09:25.10\00:09:28.94
And Young's
Literal Translation says,
00:09:29.33\00:09:31.64
"And He hath strengthened
a covenant with many."
00:09:31.67\00:09:37.13
So this was not just a covenant.
00:09:37.40\00:09:39.32
This was a strong
covenant that Messiah the Prince
00:09:39.35\00:09:42.92
was going to confirm.
00:09:42.95\00:09:44.25
Now let me ask you, what
is the antonym of "strong?"
00:09:44.42\00:09:47.75
You know what antonym means?
00:09:49.25\00:09:51.03
It means, the opposite.
00:09:51.06\00:09:52.57
The antonym of "strong" is what?
00:09:52.71\00:09:55.69
Weak.
00:09:55.85\00:09:56.88
Now why is this covenant
that is confirmed for one week
00:09:56.91\00:10:00.90
by Messiah the Prince strong?
00:10:00.93\00:10:03.83
We have to go to the
book of Hebrews to understand
00:10:04.15\00:10:06.76
the reason why.
00:10:06.79\00:10:07.82
Go with me to Hebrews chapter 7
and we'll read verses 18 and 19,
00:10:08.01\00:10:12.38
and then we'll
jump down to verse 28.
00:10:12.58\00:10:15.19
Hebrews 7:18-19 and 28.
00:10:15.22\00:10:18.19
This is talking about the Old
Testament system of sacrifices,
00:10:18.39\00:10:22.62
the ceremonial
system of the Old Testament.
00:10:22.65\00:10:25.29
Question, did the ceremonial
system of the Old Testament,
00:10:25.32\00:10:28.65
the blood of bulls
and goats, take away sin?
00:10:28.68\00:10:31.46
We noticed that it didn't.
00:10:31.63\00:10:33.23
So was it a weak
covenant compared to the blood
00:10:33.26\00:10:36.38
that Jesus shed on the cross?
00:10:36.41\00:10:37.88
Absolutely.
00:10:38.00\00:10:39.03
Now notice the words that are
used in Hebrews chapter 7:18-19.
00:10:39.06\00:10:42.89
"For on the one hand
there is an annulling of the
00:10:43.30\00:10:47.11
former commandment..."
00:10:47.14\00:10:48.18
This is not talking
about the Ten Commandments.
00:10:48.21\00:10:49.86
The former commandment has
to do here with the priesthood,
00:10:49.89\00:10:52.16
with the ceremonies,
if you read the context.
00:10:52.19\00:10:54.61
"For on the one hand
there is an annulling of the
00:10:54.64\00:10:57.12
former commandment
because of its..." What?
00:10:57.15\00:11:00.55
"...its weakness
and unprofitableness,
00:11:00.98\00:11:04.72
for the law..."
00:11:04.82\00:11:05.85
And it's talking
about the law of sacrifices,
00:11:05.88\00:11:07.87
the ceremonial law.
00:11:07.90\00:11:08.93
You can read the context.
00:11:08.96\00:11:10.18
"...for the law
made nothing perfect."
00:11:10.50\00:11:13.66
In other words, it did not
deal once and for all with sin.
00:11:13.69\00:11:16.86
"On the other hand, there is
the bringing in of a..." What?
00:11:17.18\00:11:21.78
"...a better hope..."
00:11:21.92\00:11:23.07
Jesus brings in a better hope.
00:11:23.10\00:11:24.91
"...through which
we draw near to God."
00:11:24.94\00:11:28.19
And then we go to verse 28.
00:11:28.46\00:11:29.96
It says, "For the law..."
00:11:29.99\00:11:31.08
Once again, it's
the law of sacrifices.
00:11:31.11\00:11:33.49
"For the law appoints as high
priests men who have..." What?
00:11:33.52\00:11:39.36
There's the word again.
00:11:39.52\00:11:40.68
"...weakness, but the word
of the oath, which came after
00:11:40.71\00:11:44.66
the law, appoints the
Son who has been..." What?
00:11:44.69\00:11:48.56
"...who has been
perfected forever."
00:11:48.59\00:11:51.26
So what was the
Old Testament system?
00:11:51.56\00:11:53.60
It was what?
00:11:53.63\00:11:55.11
It was weak.
00:11:55.35\00:11:57.04
Because it did not deal legally
and once for all with sin.
00:11:57.07\00:12:02.36
Notice Matthew 26
and verses 27 and 28.
00:12:02.71\00:12:06.63
Matthew 26:27-28.
00:12:06.83\00:12:09.37
Here, Jesus is
instituting the Lord's Supper
00:12:09.47\00:12:13.42
in place of the Passover.
00:12:13.45\00:12:15.12
And notice what we find here
in Matthew 26 verses 27 and 28.
00:12:15.38\00:12:20.56
Was the blood of Jesus better
blood than the blood that was
00:12:33.41\00:12:35.70
used in the Old
Testament system?
00:12:35.73\00:12:37.29
Absolutely, because it
dealt once and for all with sin.
00:12:37.53\00:12:41.84
And so it says, "For this
is My blood of the..." What?
00:12:41.87\00:12:45.63
Is the new covenant a
covenant that has better blood?
00:12:46.34\00:12:49.77
Is it a strong covenant?
00:12:49.87\00:12:51.51
Yes.
00:12:51.54\00:12:52.57
And so it says here,
"For this is My blood
00:12:52.60\00:12:55.40
of the new covenant,
which is shed for many
00:12:55.43\00:13:02.23
for the remission of sins."
00:13:02.26\00:13:04.13
Did you notice
that word, "many?"
00:13:04.41\00:13:06.21
In Daniel chapter 9,
it says, "He will confirm
00:13:06.74\00:13:09.17
a strong covenant with..." What?
00:13:09.20\00:13:11.38
"...with many for one week."
00:13:11.41\00:13:13.93
Here, you have Jesus
using the word, "many,"
00:13:13.96\00:13:17.12
in conjunction
with, "new covenant,"
00:13:17.15\00:13:19.83
because it has better blood.
00:13:19.86\00:13:22.36
Notice Hebrews
chapter 8 and verse 6.
00:13:22.66\00:13:25.13
Why this new covenant is
better than the old covenant
00:13:25.33\00:13:28.18
of sacrifices and ceremonies.
00:13:28.21\00:13:30.55
Hebrews chapter 8
and verse 6 says...
00:13:30.65\00:13:33.48
"But now," speaking about
Jesus, "He has obtained a more
00:13:33.51\00:13:39.32
excellent ministry..."
00:13:39.35\00:13:41.58
Why has Jesus represented
now a more excellent ministry?
00:13:42.01\00:13:47.44
Notice, "...inasmuch as He
is also Mediator of a..." What?
00:13:47.47\00:13:53.61
"...of a better covenant, which
was established on..." What?
00:13:53.81\00:13:57.71
"...on better promises."
00:13:57.74\00:13:59.46
What are those better promises?
00:13:59.49\00:14:01.14
The fact that when Jesus shed
His blood, He took care of sin
00:14:01.17\00:14:05.41
once and for all.
00:14:05.44\00:14:06.94
Did we study one topic
here where we dealt with the
00:14:07.72\00:14:10.94
moral law and
the ceremonial law?
00:14:10.97\00:14:12.47
Remember, we talked
about the law of ceremonies;
00:14:12.50\00:14:14.97
the blood of bulls and
goats does not take away sin.
00:14:15.00\00:14:18.40
This old covenant blood,
it was good because as people
00:14:18.50\00:14:21.64
looked at the sacrifice of the
animal, they could see forward
00:14:21.67\00:14:25.24
by faith that Jesus was going
to come and He was going to
00:14:25.27\00:14:28.07
shed His blood to die.
00:14:28.10\00:14:29.42
But this blood from the Old
Testament system did not save.
00:14:29.45\00:14:32.33
It's the blood
of Jesus that saves.
00:14:32.36\00:14:34.62
So this is the reason why He
would confirm a strong covenant.
00:14:35.09\00:14:39.02
Not a weak covenant like
we read in Hebrews chapter 7.
00:14:39.05\00:14:42.46
Notice also Mark
chapter 10 and verse 45.
00:14:42.56\00:14:45.26
Once again the
word, "many," is used.
00:14:45.29\00:14:48.30
Mark 10 and verse 45.
00:14:48.60\00:14:50.75
There it is again.
00:15:00.95\00:15:01.98
He will confirm a
strong covenant with many.
00:15:02.01\00:15:05.34
Here it says that
Jesus came to give His life
00:15:05.37\00:15:09.65
a ransom for many.
00:15:09.68\00:15:11.72
Notice also
Isaiah 53 and verse 11.
00:15:11.97\00:15:15.10
Isaiah 53 and verse 11.
00:15:15.13\00:15:17.84
This is a Messianic prophecy.
00:15:17.87\00:15:20.26
It's about Jesus.
00:15:20.29\00:15:21.52
The whole chapter
speaks about the Messiah.
00:15:21.55\00:15:23.74
And it says there,
speaking about the Messiah...
00:15:23.94\00:15:26.70
There it is again.
00:15:38.15\00:15:39.26
Now let me ask you this.
00:15:47.17\00:15:48.65
When Jesus confirmed the
covenant for one whole week,
00:15:49.92\00:15:53.85
does that mean that the
door of probation had not closed
00:15:54.23\00:15:57.25
for the Jewish nation
during that entire week?
00:15:57.28\00:15:59.68
Absolutely.
00:16:00.20\00:16:01.23
Did probation close for the
Jews when Jesus was crucified?
00:16:01.26\00:16:05.08
Absolutely not.
00:16:05.45\00:16:06.48
Because that takes us only
to the middle of the last week.
00:16:06.51\00:16:09.37
And after that, there are
still three and a half years.
00:16:09.87\00:16:12.80
Did Jesus send additional
messengers to the Jewish nation
00:16:13.11\00:16:17.37
after His death and
His ascension to heaven?
00:16:17.78\00:16:20.45
Absolutely.
00:16:20.48\00:16:21.51
Go with me to Matthew
chapter 23 and verse 34.
00:16:21.54\00:16:26.31
Matthew 23 and verse 34.
00:16:26.34\00:16:29.53
And we're going to read several
verses that come after verse 34.
00:16:29.95\00:16:34.09
It says, and here
Jesus is speaking.
00:16:34.50\00:16:36.85
These are the woes on the
scribes and the Pharisees.
00:16:36.88\00:16:39.61
"Therefore,
indeed, I send you..."
00:16:39.64\00:16:42.43
This is two or three
days before Jesus dies.
00:16:42.46\00:16:44.76
Was the gift of prophecy still
available for the Jewish nation?
00:16:49.68\00:16:52.76
Yes. That's very important.
00:16:53.18\00:16:55.27
What were they going to do
to them when Jesus sent them?
00:17:00.62\00:17:02.79
Notice this is future.
00:17:04.40\00:17:05.45
This is future from
the time that Jesus dies.
00:17:05.48\00:17:07.74
Were they going to do the
same thing with the apostles
00:17:22.71\00:17:24.98
as they did with Jesus?
00:17:25.01\00:17:26.47
For three and a half more years.
00:17:26.95\00:17:28.93
And then notice that the
sentence would be pronounced.
00:17:28.96\00:17:31.90
After He sends these
additional messengers,
00:17:31.93\00:17:34.46
it says, "...that on you
may come all the righteous blood
00:17:34.49\00:17:39.74
shed on the earth, from
the blood of righteous Abel
00:17:39.77\00:17:42.42
to the blood of
Zechariah, son of Berechiah,
00:17:42.45\00:17:46.06
whom you murdered between
the temple and the altar.
00:17:46.09\00:17:49.17
Assuredly I say to you,
all these things will come
00:17:49.20\00:17:53.68
upon this generation."
00:17:53.71\00:17:56.37
Are you
understanding the sequence here?
00:17:56.95\00:17:59.03
Jesus says, "I'm going to
send you additional messengers.
00:17:59.60\00:18:02.35
And you're going to
scourge some, you're going to
00:18:02.62\00:18:04.43
persecute them from city to
city, you're going to crucify
00:18:04.46\00:18:07.25
and you're going
to kill some of them.
00:18:07.28\00:18:09.22
And in this way, all of
the blood shed from Abel
00:18:09.25\00:18:12.72
to the last martyr of
the Old Testament will fall
00:18:12.75\00:18:15.31
upon this generation.
00:18:15.34\00:18:17.43
Now let's talk about
the second phrase that we
00:18:17.94\00:18:19.91
find here in verse 27.
00:18:19.94\00:18:21.58
It not only says
that Jesus would confirm
00:18:21.61\00:18:24.48
a strong covenant
with many for one week,
00:18:24.51\00:18:27.63
but now it tells us when
the Messiah would be cut off.
00:18:27.74\00:18:31.60
See, in verse 26 it only said,
sometime during the last week
00:18:31.63\00:18:36.16
Messiah would be cut off.
00:18:36.19\00:18:37.60
But now verse 27 is
going to tell us when
00:18:37.63\00:18:40.46
during that last week.
00:18:40.83\00:18:42.38
Verse 27 says, "But in
the middle of the week..."
00:18:42.66\00:18:46.04
That is between 27 and 31 AD.
00:18:46.07\00:18:49.71
What would He do?
00:18:50.00\00:18:51.17
Now something very interesting
here is that the word,
00:19:00.40\00:19:03.18
"sacrifice," is singular.
00:19:03.21\00:19:05.99
And the word,
"offering," is singular.
00:19:06.93\00:19:09.74
It doesn't say, "Bring an end
to sacrifices and offerings."
00:19:10.40\00:19:15.60
It says, "He will bring an
end to sacrifice and offering."
00:19:15.63\00:19:19.97
Now why is the singular used?
00:19:20.00\00:19:22.35
I'm going to tell you the
reason why I believe that the
00:19:22.57\00:19:24.86
singular is used
and not the plural.
00:19:24.89\00:19:27.42
Do you know that Jesus
died at the precise hour,
00:19:28.16\00:19:32.21
day, and month, in
which it had been prophesied
00:19:32.42\00:19:36.73
in the Old Testament?
00:19:36.76\00:19:37.89
The Bible says He
died at the ninth hour.
00:19:38.23\00:19:40.91
That's the hour when the
Passover lamb was sacrificed.
00:19:41.08\00:19:44.52
He died on the 14th day.
00:19:44.86\00:19:47.16
That's when the
Passover lamb was sacrificed.
00:19:47.19\00:19:49.46
And He died in
the month of Nisan,
00:19:49.71\00:19:53.13
which is the month when the
Passover lamb was sacrificed.
00:19:53.16\00:19:56.36
Jesus died at the
precise month, day, and hour
00:19:56.39\00:20:02.35
in which the
Passover lamb was sacrificed.
00:20:02.38\00:20:05.87
Now I want you to notice
what happened when Jesus died.
00:20:06.30\00:20:08.72
Matthew 27 and verse 51.
00:20:08.82\00:20:10.89
Matthew 27 and verse 51.
00:20:11.29\00:20:13.48
What was God saying?
00:20:22.15\00:20:23.49
He was saying, this
whole system has what?
00:20:23.52\00:20:26.25
Has come to an end.
00:20:26.59\00:20:28.28
If you're going to tear a
curtain, you would tear it
00:20:34.44\00:20:36.17
from bottom to top.
00:20:36.20\00:20:37.40
You don't climb on a chair and
then tear it from top to bottom.
00:20:37.43\00:20:40.78
God did this.
00:20:40.81\00:20:42.02
Ellen White adds some
enlightening information
00:20:46.89\00:20:49.64
on what happened the
very moment that Jesus died.
00:20:49.67\00:20:53.10
Desire Of Ages, page
757, she says this...
00:20:54.53\00:20:58.67
Did the
sacrifice come to an end?
00:21:15.31\00:21:17.72
Did the offering come to
an end at that very moment?
00:21:18.55\00:21:22.45
Yes.
00:21:22.48\00:21:23.51
And so it says...
00:21:23.54\00:21:24.59
She says the lamb escapes.
00:21:24.79\00:21:26.58
And then she explains why.
00:21:26.61\00:21:28.13
That is, promise
has met fulfillment.
00:21:31.21\00:21:33.72
Do you think that it
was the intention of Jesus
00:21:38.63\00:21:40.79
that the Jews understand that
really the escape of the lamb,
00:21:40.82\00:21:45.56
the fact that no lamb
was sacrificed that day,
00:21:45.59\00:21:48.12
was suppose to teach them
that the sacrificial system
00:21:48.15\00:21:51.22
had come to an end?
00:21:51.25\00:21:52.34
That was God's intention.
00:21:52.37\00:21:54.19
Now they continued
their sacrifices after this.
00:21:54.49\00:21:57.29
But after the sacrifice
of Jesus, these sacrifices
00:21:57.32\00:22:00.44
were totally what?
00:22:00.47\00:22:01.97
Totally meaningless.
00:22:02.00\00:22:03.73
Because the blood of
bulls and goats and lambs
00:22:03.93\00:22:06.64
cannot take away sin.
00:22:06.67\00:22:08.24
So the sacrifice
and offering, singular,
00:22:08.49\00:22:12.34
came to an end that day.
00:22:12.37\00:22:14.81
Because when Jesus died,
the sacrifice was not made,
00:22:14.84\00:22:18.47
the offering was not
made, because the lamb escaped
00:22:18.50\00:22:22.81
from the hands of the priest.
00:22:22.84\00:22:24.54
Are you following me?
00:22:24.57\00:22:25.65
Now let's talk about the
destruction of Jerusalem.
00:22:26.15\00:22:28.46
Because immediately after
saying that He would confirm
00:22:28.69\00:22:31.16
a strong covenant
with many for one week,
00:22:31.19\00:22:33.46
and then it says in
the middle of the week
00:22:33.85\00:22:35.73
He would cause the sacrifice and
the oblation, or the offering,
00:22:35.76\00:22:40.11
to cease,
immediately it speaks about the
00:22:40.14\00:22:43.43
destruction of Jerusalem.
00:22:43.46\00:22:44.71
Does the destruction
of Jerusalem have anything
00:22:44.81\00:22:46.80
to do with the
rejection of the Messiah?
00:22:46.83\00:22:48.70
Both times, Messiah
is cut off in verse 26,
00:22:49.68\00:22:54.28
and then it speaks about
the destruction of Jerusalem.
00:22:54.31\00:22:56.59
In verse 27, it speaks about
Messiah bringing the sacrifice
00:22:56.87\00:23:00.67
and offering to an end,
and then it speaks about the
00:23:00.70\00:23:04.10
destruction of Jerusalem.
00:23:04.13\00:23:05.45
And the gospels confirm this.
00:23:05.48\00:23:07.50
Daniel 9 verse 27, the last
part of the verse, describes the
00:23:07.69\00:23:11.51
destruction of Jerusalem.
00:23:11.54\00:23:12.61
It says, "And on the
wing of abominations..."
00:23:12.64\00:23:14.98
Is that a key word?
00:23:15.01\00:23:16.20
It most certainly is.
00:23:16.40\00:23:17.49
Is that a key
word also, "desolate?"
00:23:21.69\00:23:23.56
Most certainly.
00:23:24.08\00:23:25.32
And who is the desolate?
00:23:37.17\00:23:38.49
It is Jerusalem.
00:23:38.73\00:23:40.79
Do you remember when
Jesus left the Jerusalem temple?
00:23:41.08\00:23:44.35
He said, "Your house
is left unto you..." What?
00:23:44.38\00:23:49.65
Desolate.
00:23:49.88\00:23:50.91
Because Jesus left.
00:23:50.94\00:23:52.25
In other words, this verse of
Daniel chapter 9 and verse 27,
00:23:52.88\00:23:57.67
when it uses the
word, "desolate," to refer
00:23:57.70\00:24:01.56
to Jerusalem, it's using
the same word that Jesus used
00:24:01.59\00:24:05.45
in Matthew
chapter 23 and verse 38,
00:24:05.65\00:24:08.36
when He left the temple,
the Shekinah left, and He said,
00:24:08.39\00:24:11.44
"Your house is
left unto you desolate."
00:24:11.47\00:24:13.97
By the way, they
are the same two words,
00:24:14.51\00:24:16.99
abomination and
desolation, that are used in
00:24:17.19\00:24:19.59
Matthew 24 verses 15 and 16
00:24:19.62\00:24:22.38
to describe the
destruction of Jerusalem.
00:24:22.41\00:24:24.14
Notice what it says
there in Matthew 24:15-16.
00:24:24.34\00:24:27.44
There are the two keys
words that we found in verse 27.
00:24:31.48\00:24:33.87
Now who spoke about the
abomination of desolation?
00:24:35.71\00:24:38.27
Did God's faithful
people see the sign and flee?
00:24:51.17\00:24:53.59
Were they saved
from the destruction?
00:24:53.82\00:24:56.41
Yes, just like when the Old
Testament temple was destroyed.
00:24:56.44\00:24:59.82
There was a group that was
spared and they were saved.
00:24:59.85\00:25:02.40
Now what does that
mean, "When you see the
00:25:02.43\00:25:04.00
abomination of desolation?"
00:25:04.03\00:25:05.49
It's really speaking
about the Roman armies coming
00:25:05.69\00:25:08.18
and destroying Jerusalem
because of its abominations.
00:25:08.21\00:25:10.70
Notice Luke 21 and verse 20.
00:25:10.90\00:25:13.34
Luke 21 and verse 20.
00:25:13.37\00:25:15.51
Here it says, and Jesus is
speaking, "But when you see..."
00:25:15.71\00:25:19.83
This is a parallel
passage to Matthew 24.
00:25:19.86\00:25:22.26
Which armies?
00:25:26.85\00:25:27.89
The Roman armies.
00:25:28.37\00:25:29.62
There's the key word.
00:25:32.89\00:25:34.09
So does the destruction
of Jerusalem have anything
00:25:38.41\00:25:41.66
to do with the
death of the Messiah?
00:25:41.69\00:25:44.27
The gospels make
it absolutely clear
00:25:44.91\00:25:48.11
that because the Jewish
nation cut off the Messiah,
00:25:48.48\00:25:51.87
and because they
caused, to a certain extent,
00:25:52.23\00:25:56.00
the sacrifice and
the oblation to cease,
00:25:56.03\00:25:58.73
not in the sense that they
didn't continue their sacrifices
00:25:59.39\00:26:02.56
but in the sense that
Jesus died on the cross,
00:26:02.59\00:26:05.08
they brought
destruction upon themselves,
00:26:06.28\00:26:09.43
as we studied last time.
00:26:09.46\00:26:11.41
Now let's talk about the
ending date of the 70 weeks.
00:26:12.21\00:26:15.69
Jesus was baptized in
the fall of the year 27.
00:26:16.05\00:26:19.94
He was crucified in
the spring of the year 31,
00:26:20.99\00:26:24.75
three and a half years later.
00:26:24.78\00:26:26.19
How many more years
would you have to have
00:26:26.59\00:26:28.58
in order for the last week of
the 70 weeks to come to an end?
00:26:28.61\00:26:31.83
You would have to have
three and a half more years.
00:26:32.29\00:26:35.34
Now I want you to notice Matthew
chapter 10 and verses 5 and 6.
00:26:36.23\00:26:40.38
Here, Jesus is speaking.
00:26:40.96\00:26:42.94
And notice what Jesus
told to His disciples.
00:26:43.33\00:26:46.23
Matthew 10:5-6.
00:26:46.26\00:26:48.26
Were the Jews going to have
exactly 70 weeks of probation?
00:27:06.22\00:27:10.21
Yes or no? Yes.
00:27:10.24\00:27:11.92
So their probation
cannot end in the year 31.
00:27:11.95\00:27:15.14
Their probation has to end
three and a half years later.
00:27:15.17\00:27:20.56
Now there's something
very interesting here.
00:27:20.59\00:27:23.16
And that is that the first nine
chapters of the book of Acts,
00:27:23.54\00:27:28.91
which describe the early
history of the Christian church
00:27:29.38\00:27:32.58
during those
three and a half years,
00:27:32.61\00:27:34.70
the gospel went
only to the Jews.
00:27:35.29\00:27:38.16
It's not until you
get to Acts chapter 10
00:27:38.80\00:27:42.44
that now, not Paul, the
messenger to the Gentiles,
00:27:42.94\00:27:47.12
but Peter actually has the
experience with this Gentile
00:27:47.32\00:27:52.28
called Cornelius.
00:27:52.31\00:27:53.96
So in other words, during
the first nine chapters of Acts,
00:27:54.32\00:27:59.56
the apostles are
preaching to who?
00:27:59.59\00:28:01.93
They're preaching in
Jerusalem and in Judea.
00:28:02.28\00:28:05.81
Why? Because
probation has not what?
00:28:06.41\00:28:09.37
Probation has not
closed for the Jewish nation.
00:28:09.55\00:28:13.15
Allow me to read you once
again Matthew 23 and verse 34
00:28:13.40\00:28:17.01
where Jesus predicted this.
00:28:17.04\00:28:18.74
Jesus says...
00:28:18.83\00:28:19.88
Who is it that
persecuted from city to city?
00:28:35.05\00:28:37.53
Saul of Tarsus.
00:28:37.95\00:28:39.35
Now let me read you a statement
from Great Controversy, page 28,
00:28:39.57\00:28:43.81
where Ellen White
describes this period after
00:28:43.84\00:28:47.11
the crucifixion of Christ.
00:28:47.14\00:28:48.67
She says...
00:28:48.70\00:28:50.01
Shine upon the children of
those who had betrayed Jesus.
00:28:57.43\00:29:00.45
She continues saying...
00:29:00.79\00:29:02.01
How did the Jews react during
those three and a half years
00:29:34.93\00:29:38.81
of additional probation?
00:29:38.84\00:29:40.40
Did they say, "Oh,
we receive the Messiah.
00:29:41.03\00:29:43.39
We receive Jesus Christ."
00:29:43.42\00:29:45.12
All you have to do is
read the first several chapters
00:29:45.29\00:29:48.00
of the book of Acts.
00:29:48.03\00:29:49.32
They did to the apostles
the same thing that they
00:29:49.87\00:29:53.12
did to Jesus Christ.
00:29:53.15\00:29:54.56
You can read, for
example, about Peter and John.
00:29:55.00\00:29:57.71
How they were taken
before the Jewish Sanhedrin.
00:29:57.74\00:30:00.30
And they were forbidden to speak
in the name of Jesus Christ.
00:30:00.33\00:30:04.82
In fact, notice that in
Acts chapter 4 verses 17 and 18.
00:30:05.02\00:30:08.41
Acts chapter 4 verses 17 and 18.
00:30:08.44\00:30:10.58
It says, "But so that
it spreads no further..."
00:30:10.71\00:30:13.45
They're speaking in
the Sanhedrin and in the
00:30:13.48\00:30:15.97
Jewish council because
Peter and John are preaching
00:30:16.00\00:30:18.93
and people are being converted.
00:30:18.96\00:30:20.22
"But so that it spreads no
further among the people..."
00:30:20.25\00:30:22.98
That is, their message.
00:30:23.01\00:30:24.25
"'...let us severely
threaten them, that from now on
00:30:24.28\00:30:27.85
they speak to no
man in this name.'
00:30:28.16\00:30:30.80
So they called
them and commanded them
00:30:31.10\00:30:33.20
not to speak at all
nor teach in the..." What?
00:30:33.23\00:30:37.61
"...in the name of Jesus."
00:30:37.64\00:30:40.94
Did they accept Jesus Christ
in these three and a half years
00:30:41.63\00:30:45.13
of additional probation?
00:30:45.16\00:30:46.64
Absolutely not.
00:30:46.97\00:30:48.09
They opposed just like they had
while Jesus was on this earth.
00:30:48.41\00:30:53.11
Now Daniel
chapter 9 and verse 24,
00:30:53.90\00:30:56.52
you remember that
Daniel 9 verse 24 said
00:30:56.55\00:30:59.20
that one of the things
that would be accomplished
00:30:59.40\00:31:01.39
during the 70 weeks is
that vision and prophecy
00:31:01.42\00:31:05.83
would be brought to what?
00:31:05.86\00:31:07.82
Actually, it would be sealed up.
00:31:09.40\00:31:11.28
But you know, that
expression, "sealed up,"
00:31:11.43\00:31:13.43
is the identical expression that
is used earlier in the verse
00:31:13.46\00:31:16.28
where it says He
shall bring an end to sins.
00:31:16.31\00:31:18.86
In other words, really
the Hebrew word, "chatham,"
00:31:19.54\00:31:22.03
really means, seal
up or bring to an end.
00:31:22.06\00:31:26.05
In other words, Daniel chapter
9 verse 24 is saying that
00:31:26.20\00:31:29.77
vision and prophecy
would be coming to an end.
00:31:29.80\00:31:32.47
Let's read that
verse, Daniel 9 verse 24.
00:31:32.50\00:31:35.70
"...to make an end of sins..."
00:31:41.22\00:31:43.00
That's the very word that
is used later in the verse;
00:31:43.14\00:31:45.77
to seal up.
00:31:45.80\00:31:46.85
"...to seal up..."
00:31:54.55\00:31:55.73
That's the identical
Hebrew word that is translated,
00:31:56.03\00:31:58.24
"bring an end to sins."
00:31:58.27\00:31:59.49
So here it should
be translated what?
00:31:59.52\00:32:01.95
Bring an end to what?
00:32:01.98\00:32:03.99
To vision and prophecy.
00:32:04.19\00:32:06.23
So what was going to happen
at the end of this period?
00:32:09.37\00:32:11.87
Vision and
prophecy would come to what?
00:32:12.07\00:32:15.15
Would come to an end.
00:32:15.28\00:32:16.71
Is that exactly what happened?
00:32:16.74\00:32:18.30
Absolutely.
00:32:18.64\00:32:19.79
Now let me tell you something
about the role of the prophet
00:32:20.00\00:32:22.33
in the Old Testament.
00:32:22.36\00:32:23.56
The role of the
prophet in the Old Testament
00:32:24.18\00:32:26.05
is that when Israel
was very, very unfaithful,
00:32:26.08\00:32:29.13
constantly all the time,
God would send them prophets.
00:32:29.16\00:32:33.15
They were actually God's
lawyers in divorce court.
00:32:33.51\00:32:37.53
God would say, you know,
"I'm going to divorce you
00:32:37.56\00:32:40.30
because you've fallen
in love with the practice
00:32:40.33\00:32:43.88
of the other nations.
00:32:43.91\00:32:45.02
And, you know,
you've had other lovers.
00:32:45.05\00:32:46.78
You've played the harlot."
00:32:46.81\00:32:48.00
And so He would send
prophets and He would say,
00:32:48.03\00:32:50.62
"I want a divorce."
00:32:50.89\00:32:51.97
But then there was always hope.
00:32:52.00\00:32:53.69
He would say, "But if
you repent and you turn from
00:32:53.72\00:32:56.72
your wicked ways, then I
will relent from the idea
00:32:56.75\00:33:00.41
of divorcing you."
00:33:00.72\00:33:02.53
And whenever you find these
prophets in the Old Testament
00:33:03.14\00:33:06.08
giving this message to Israel,
you find that they always
00:33:06.11\00:33:09.99
told the story of the benevolent
acts of God upon His people.
00:33:10.02\00:33:15.32
They would go through a
long description of the history
00:33:15.42\00:33:18.10
of Israel and how God
had been good to Israel
00:33:18.13\00:33:20.93
to try and woo
Israel back to the Lord.
00:33:20.96\00:33:24.95
In other words, when prophets
were raised up to rebuke Israel,
00:33:25.46\00:33:28.94
they called
Israel to repentance,
00:33:29.14\00:33:31.20
and they expressed
that there was still
00:33:31.23\00:33:33.53
an opportunity for mercy.
00:33:33.56\00:33:35.51
But now we go to
the stoning of Stephen
00:33:36.23\00:33:38.23
and we find no message
of mercy in the message
00:33:38.26\00:33:41.37
that Stephen presents.
00:33:41.40\00:33:42.96
Stephen, like the
prophets of the Old Testament,
00:33:43.18\00:33:45.54
takes almost all of
chapter 7 of the book of Acts
00:33:45.81\00:33:49.22
to tell the history of
Israel and how God guided in the
00:33:49.25\00:33:52.72
history of Israel to bring
the Messiah into the world.
00:33:52.75\00:33:55.78
Let's read several
verses from Acts chapter 7,
00:33:56.27\00:33:59.08
and we'll read verse
11 and then I'll tell you
00:33:59.28\00:34:01.50
the verses that
we're going to read.
00:34:01.53\00:34:03.49
And I want you to notice
that Stephen refers to the
00:34:04.15\00:34:07.61
history of Israel
with the expression,
00:34:07.64\00:34:09.71
"our fathers," "our
fathers," "our fathers,"
00:34:09.74\00:34:12.29
until he gets to the end.
00:34:12.32\00:34:13.83
And then he changes his tone.
00:34:13.93\00:34:16.03
Notice verse 11.
00:34:16.32\00:34:17.69
This is during
the times of Joseph.
00:34:22.30\00:34:24.01
Let's go to verse 19.
00:34:28.03\00:34:29.57
"This man," that is Pharaoh...
00:34:30.03\00:34:31.80
Then it says in verse
38, "This is he," Moses...
00:34:41.88\00:34:46.44
Notice, "our fathers," again.
00:34:55.30\00:34:57.23
Verse 45...
00:35:10.05\00:35:11.19
Do you notice that all
during the history of Israel,
00:35:23.73\00:35:25.82
he's talking about what?
00:35:25.85\00:35:27.73
He's including himself
in the history of Israel.
00:35:27.94\00:35:30.69
He's saying, "our
fathers," "our fathers."
00:35:30.72\00:35:32.92
But when he gets to
the end of his speech,
00:35:33.24\00:35:35.58
I want you to notice
chapter 7 and verse 52,
00:35:35.61\00:35:39.23
there is a change of tone
and a change of expression.
00:35:39.26\00:35:43.41
He says to them...
00:35:43.63\00:35:44.66
Now he's bringing
the indictment like the
00:35:44.69\00:35:46.36
prophets did in
the Old Testament.
00:35:46.39\00:35:47.79
They would describe
the benevolent acts of God
00:35:47.82\00:35:50.10
and then they would
present the indictment.
00:35:50.13\00:35:52.44
And then the prophet would
say, "Come back to the Lord
00:35:52.47\00:35:55.18
because He doesn't
want to divorce you."
00:35:55.21\00:35:56.87
Stephen does not say,
"Come back to the Lord.
00:35:56.97\00:35:59.22
He only indicts them.
00:35:59.25\00:36:01.15
Notice what it says
there in Acts 7 verse 52.
00:36:01.35\00:36:05.48
You see, he's disconnecting
himself from the patrimony
00:36:10.06\00:36:13.38
of those who did these
things in the Old Testament.
00:36:13.41\00:36:16.31
You know this reminds us
of the speech that Jesus gave
00:36:28.55\00:36:31.85
in the temple to the
scribes and the Pharisees,
00:36:31.88\00:36:34.49
the woes upon the
scribes and the Pharisees.
00:36:34.52\00:36:36.64
Jesus also did not
say, "our fathers,"
00:36:36.67\00:36:39.68
but He said, "your fathers."
00:36:39.89\00:36:42.24
Notice what we find in
Matthew chapter 23 and verse 32.
00:36:42.27\00:36:46.88
Jesus says...
00:36:46.91\00:36:48.05
In other words, Stephen
is disassociating himself
00:36:54.88\00:36:58.23
from these individuals
who were "our fathers"
00:36:58.43\00:37:02.22
until he
presents his indictment.
00:37:02.25\00:37:04.05
And then he says,
"Your fathers did this."
00:37:04.08\00:37:07.51
Notice Matthew
chapter 23 and verse 34.
00:37:07.85\00:37:11.75
Matthew 23 verse 34.
00:37:11.78\00:37:13.50
We already read this,
but let's read it again.
00:37:13.53\00:37:15.81
Jesus is speaking, a
couple of days before His death,
00:37:16.15\00:37:19.09
and He says...
00:37:19.12\00:37:20.15
And then notice, after He
sends additional messengers,
00:37:32.64\00:37:35.60
He says...
00:37:35.63\00:37:36.66
Is the stoning of Stephen
an extremely significant event?
00:37:55.26\00:37:58.90
It most certainly is.
00:37:59.17\00:38:00.70
In fact, allow me to share
with you some very interesting
00:38:00.73\00:38:03.21
details about the
crucifixion of Christ
00:38:03.24\00:38:06.03
and the stoning of Stephen.
00:38:06.06\00:38:07.35
It's like history is
being repeated in the
00:38:07.38\00:38:09.84
stoning of Stephen,
the history of Christ.
00:38:09.87\00:38:11.96
I'm just going to
go through this list.
00:38:12.37\00:38:14.15
You have the
texts in your handout.
00:38:14.35\00:38:16.78
Both Jesus and
Stephen were taken before the
00:38:17.34\00:38:20.85
Jewish
Sanhedrin for their trial.
00:38:20.88\00:38:22.95
Both Stephen and Jesus
were accused by false witnesses.
00:38:23.59\00:38:27.49
You can read this in
Acts chapter 6 and 7.
00:38:27.52\00:38:29.66
Both Jesus and Stephen
reviewed the history of Israel.
00:38:30.12\00:38:33.99
Remember the parable of
the vineyard that we studied
00:38:34.02\00:38:36.36
yesterday morning?
00:38:36.39\00:38:37.46
Both of them
reviewed the history of Israel
00:38:38.15\00:38:40.68
and talked about God
sending messengers to Israel,
00:38:40.97\00:38:43.86
and ended their
speeches by speaking about the
00:38:43.89\00:38:46.55
arrival of the Son.
00:38:46.58\00:38:47.83
Both of them were betrayed by
money that was paid as a bribe.
00:38:48.64\00:38:53.28
Both of them were accused
of speaking against Moses
00:38:54.10\00:38:57.69
and the temple.
00:38:57.72\00:38:58.75
Both of them, the Bible
tells us, were accused by the
00:38:59.35\00:39:03.93
Jewish leaders of shutting
their ears to logic and reason.
00:39:03.96\00:39:09.68
Both of them prayed that
God would forgive the sin
00:39:10.15\00:39:13.53
of their oppressors.
00:39:13.56\00:39:14.98
Both of them were taken
and killed outside the city.
00:39:15.32\00:39:18.74
The Bible says that
both of them were innocent.
00:39:19.38\00:39:22.29
The Bible says that
Stephen's face with like the
00:39:22.32\00:39:24.36
face of an angel.
00:39:24.39\00:39:25.43
Pilate said, "This Man, I
find no guilt in this Man."
00:39:25.46\00:39:28.21
And both of them were
afflicted by a mob mentality
00:39:28.62\00:39:32.00
by those who killed them.
00:39:32.03\00:39:33.76
Is there an interesting
parallel between the death of
00:39:34.08\00:39:36.36
Jesus Christ and
the death of Stephen?
00:39:36.39\00:39:38.30
Absolutely.
00:39:38.33\00:39:39.44
In fact, Stephen is
repeating the history of Jesus.
00:39:39.64\00:39:45.77
Had there been any change
in the spirit and in the heart
00:39:45.80\00:39:49.60
of the Jewish
leaders, the Jewish Sanhedrin,
00:39:49.63\00:39:52.36
when Stephen was stoned?
00:39:52.39\00:39:54.21
Absolutely not.
00:39:54.24\00:39:56.14
Even though this is
three and a half years after
00:39:56.31\00:39:59.63
the crucifixion of Christ,
there has been absolutely
00:39:59.66\00:40:02.38
no change of heart.
00:40:02.41\00:40:04.43
Now you remember that we read
in Daniel chapter 9 verse 24
00:40:04.97\00:40:09.01
that there would be
an event that would bring
00:40:09.18\00:40:11.59
vision and prophecy to an end.
00:40:11.62\00:40:14.32
Now that's a
significant statement.
00:40:14.65\00:40:16.53
Go with me to Acts
chapter 7 and verses 55 and 56.
00:40:16.91\00:40:21.11
What was the last vision
that was given to a prophet
00:40:21.14\00:40:25.13
for literal Israel?
00:40:25.33\00:40:27.06
Who was that prophet?
00:40:27.70\00:40:29.11
It was Stephen.
00:40:29.59\00:40:30.74
Because just like the
prophets of the Old Testament,
00:40:31.20\00:40:33.68
he told the history of
Israel and he indicted them
00:40:33.71\00:40:36.90
for their wickedness.
00:40:36.93\00:40:38.33
The same way that the
Old Testament prophets did.
00:40:38.72\00:40:41.34
There's no difference.
00:40:41.94\00:40:43.19
Did Stephen catch
a vision of heaven,
00:40:43.89\00:40:48.68
and Jesus at the
right hand of God?
00:40:48.88\00:40:51.75
Absolutely.
00:40:51.94\00:40:52.97
Acts 7:55-56.
00:40:53.00\00:40:55.23
"But he, being full
of the Holy Spirit..."
00:40:55.43\00:40:58.48
Was Stephen seeing a vision?
00:41:13.82\00:41:15.62
He most certainly was.
00:41:16.13\00:41:17.47
Was he a prophet?
00:41:17.71\00:41:19.23
Yes, in good
style he was a prophet.
00:41:19.68\00:41:22.22
Was he the last
prophet who got the last vision
00:41:22.76\00:41:26.58
that was ever
given for literal Israel?
00:41:26.61\00:41:28.89
Absolutely.
00:41:28.99\00:41:30.32
He would bring
prophecy and vision to an end.
00:41:30.35\00:41:34.87
And when Stephen said that,
his oppressors became ballistic.
00:41:35.26\00:41:39.79
Notice Acts chapter 7
and verse 54, and then we'll
00:41:40.22\00:41:43.62
jump down to verses 57 and 58.
00:41:43.65\00:41:46.21
It says, "When
they heard these things
00:41:46.49\00:41:48.37
they were cut to the heart..."
00:41:48.40\00:41:50.06
Can you just imagine
gnashing at this follower
00:41:54.17\00:41:58.72
of Jesus with their teeth?
00:41:58.75\00:42:00.31
And then verse 57 says...
00:42:00.34\00:42:01.97
Like it happened with Jesus.
00:42:12.00\00:42:13.28
And now notice a
very important detail.
00:42:15.75\00:42:17.79
Did the Jewish
theocracy come to an end
00:42:27.79\00:42:29.98
with the stoning of Stephen?
00:42:30.41\00:42:31.84
Absolutely.
00:42:32.48\00:42:33.66
They showed that their case
was absolutely irreversible.
00:42:34.31\00:42:39.68
But I want you to notice
something very interesting.
00:42:39.71\00:42:41.81
As the Jewish
theocracy came to an end...
00:42:42.16\00:42:45.50
Because the
whole reason why God...
00:42:45.60\00:42:47.11
Why did God choose Israel?
00:42:47.14\00:42:48.66
He chose them to
prepare the way for what?
00:42:49.16\00:42:51.61
For the coming of the Messiah.
00:42:51.97\00:42:53.56
So the world would be
ready for the Messiah.
00:42:53.76\00:42:56.31
Did they fulfill that plan. No.
00:42:56.63\00:42:59.26
Did the message
have to go to the world?
00:42:59.29\00:43:01.51
It sure did.
00:43:01.54\00:43:02.62
Was the Jewish nation
going to take it to the world?
00:43:02.65\00:43:04.83
Absolutely not.
00:43:04.86\00:43:05.89
So God says, "This is it.
00:43:05.92\00:43:07.34
I gave you 70 weeks.
00:43:07.37\00:43:08.76
Last of all, I sent you My Son.
00:43:08.79\00:43:11.32
You didn't fulfill
the commission, so now
00:43:11.35\00:43:14.10
the message is going
to be taken to the world
00:43:14.13\00:43:16.47
of the Gentiles."
00:43:17.28\00:43:18.89
And it's interesting
that when the Jewish theocracy
00:43:19.99\00:43:22.40
came to an end, God already had
the champion for the Gentiles.
00:43:22.43\00:43:27.04
What was his name?
00:43:27.69\00:43:28.96
Saul of Tarsus. Exactly.
00:43:29.39\00:43:32.52
Do you remember in the
parable that Jesus told
00:43:32.94\00:43:35.60
of the vineyard workers?
00:43:35.63\00:43:37.82
He told about the
three stages of Israel.
00:43:38.72\00:43:40.72
God sent out messengers and
they killed those messengers
00:43:40.75\00:43:44.10
and rejected their message.
00:43:44.13\00:43:45.19
Then He sent further
messengers after that.
00:43:45.22\00:43:47.10
That's during the 70 weeks.
00:43:47.13\00:43:48.56
And last of all, He sends whom?
00:43:48.59\00:43:50.75
He sends His Son, "They're
going to respect my son."
00:43:50.78\00:43:53.07
But what did they say?
00:43:53.46\00:43:54.49
"Oh, this is the heir.
00:43:54.52\00:43:55.89
Let's take him and kill him."
00:43:55.92\00:43:58.02
And they cast him
out of the vineyard,
00:43:58.05\00:44:00.06
which represents Jerusalem.
00:44:00.09\00:44:01.48
And they killed him.
00:44:01.51\00:44:02.54
And Jesus said,
"What do you suppose God is
00:44:03.19\00:44:05.53
going to do with them?"
00:44:05.56\00:44:06.59
What did Jesus say?
00:44:07.39\00:44:08.66
He said, "Because
they rejected the son,
00:44:09.06\00:44:11.09
the kingdom will
be taken from them
00:44:12.36\00:44:14.44
and will be
given to a nation..."
00:44:15.52\00:44:17.81
The word, "ethne."
00:44:18.10\00:44:19.81
Which refers to the
Gentiles in the New Testament.
00:44:20.20\00:44:23.67
"...and will be given to a
nation that produces..." What?
00:44:24.11\00:44:27.78
"...that produces
the fruits thereof."
00:44:28.01\00:44:31.20
Did Jesus predict
that after His death
00:44:31.41\00:44:34.15
the message would go to the
Gentiles because the Jews had
00:44:34.56\00:44:37.59
rejected the message?
00:44:37.62\00:44:39.15
Absolutely.
00:44:39.18\00:44:40.21
So Saul of Tarsus is
present when Stephen is stoned.
00:44:40.77\00:44:45.96
And the last vision and the
last prophet is given to Israel.
00:44:45.99\00:44:50.01
But he is going to be the
champion that God will choose
00:44:50.42\00:44:53.74
to fulfill what Jesus said.
00:44:53.94\00:44:55.79
The message now going to where?
00:44:55.82\00:44:58.57
Going to the Gentiles.
00:44:58.78\00:44:59.99
In other words, the kingdom
now given to the Gentiles.
00:45:00.29\00:45:03.71
In fact, notice Acts
chapter 22 and verses 20 and 21.
00:45:04.09\00:45:07.88
Here, Saul of Tarsus is
describing his experience.
00:45:09.19\00:45:14.66
And notice what it says
in Acts 22 verses 20 and 21.
00:45:14.69\00:45:18.49
So notice, he was present there
and he was encouraging them
00:45:33.22\00:45:40.34
to stone Stephen.
00:45:40.37\00:45:41.50
But now notice what
we find in verse 21.
00:45:41.60\00:45:44.21
Are you seeing the connection?
00:45:53.14\00:45:54.38
Now, when Saul of Tarsus
was on the way to Damascus
00:45:55.79\00:45:59.72
to persecute the church,
he heard a voice from heaven
00:46:00.35\00:46:03.22
that said, "Saul, Saul, why
do you persecute My people?"
00:46:03.25\00:46:08.47
That's not what He said.
00:46:09.42\00:46:10.72
He said, "Saul, Saul,
why do you persecute.." What?
00:46:11.13\00:46:13.71
"...Me."
00:46:14.04\00:46:15.23
Were they persecuting Jesus?
00:46:15.62\00:46:17.21
Yes, they were persecuting Jesus
in the person of His church.
00:46:17.40\00:46:21.93
Because the church is
the body of Jesus Christ.
00:46:22.21\00:46:24.91
Were they doing the same
thing to the body of Christ
00:46:25.26\00:46:27.95
as they had
done to Jesus Christ?
00:46:27.98\00:46:29.77
Absolutely.
00:46:29.80\00:46:30.83
And Saul was there when
the Jewish theocracy ended.
00:46:31.30\00:46:34.94
And God said,
"You're Mine, buddy.
00:46:34.97\00:46:37.68
You're going to be the
messenger to the Gentiles."
00:46:38.06\00:46:41.24
And as I was mentioning,
it's very interesting,
00:46:41.85\00:46:44.34
listen to this,
in the book of Acts
00:46:44.37\00:46:46.91
chapters 1 through chapter
12 the central figure is Peter.
00:46:47.91\00:46:54.84
And the message is
going to whom, primarily?
00:46:56.10\00:46:59.72
It is going to the Jews.
00:46:59.99\00:47:02.78
Do you remember that Jesus said
in Acts chapter 1 verse 8...
00:47:04.39\00:47:07.48
Where first?
00:47:12.81\00:47:13.95
In Jerusalem.
00:47:14.80\00:47:15.83
Who lived in Jerusalem?
00:47:16.33\00:47:17.70
Jews.
00:47:18.20\00:47:19.46
"...and in all Judea.."
00:47:19.78\00:47:21.60
Who lived in Judea?
00:47:22.41\00:47:23.70
Jews.
00:47:24.32\00:47:25.49
And then a
little bit wider, where?
00:47:25.52\00:47:27.92
Samaria.
00:47:28.21\00:47:29.63
And then where?
00:47:29.74\00:47:31.23
To the uttermost
parts of the earth.
00:47:31.79\00:47:34.04
Or to the end of the
earth, as some versions say.
00:47:34.07\00:47:37.15
Listen up now.
00:47:37.35\00:47:38.41
Acts 1 through 6,
the work of the apostles
00:47:39.22\00:47:43.99
is focused only on
Jerusalem and Judea.
00:47:44.02\00:47:47.27
In Acts chapter
7, Stephen is stoned.
00:47:48.37\00:47:51.35
And after Stephen is
stoned in Acts chapter 7,
00:47:53.08\00:47:56.20
in Acts 8 you have, of course,
the gospel going to Samaria,
00:47:57.07\00:48:00.50
which were half
brothers of the Jews.
00:48:00.53\00:48:02.71
And then you have in
chapter 9 the conversion
00:48:03.50\00:48:07.00
of Saul of Tarsus.
00:48:07.03\00:48:08.54
And then in chapter 10,
all the way through the rest
00:48:09.80\00:48:12.13
of the book of Acts,
the gospel is going where?
00:48:12.16\00:48:15.27
The gospel is
going to the Gentiles.
00:48:15.93\00:48:17.80
Is the book of Acts showing us
that for three and a half years
00:48:18.52\00:48:24.67
after Jesus was
crucified, the gospel went to
00:48:24.70\00:48:28.51
Jerusalem and Judea?
00:48:28.54\00:48:30.18
And only after
the stoning of Stephen
00:48:30.61\00:48:32.90
does the gospel go,
first of all, to Cornelius
00:48:33.67\00:48:37.27
through the work of
Peter, and then to the uttermost
00:48:37.30\00:48:40.53
parts of the
earth; to the Gentiles?
00:48:40.56\00:48:42.49
Are you following me or not?
00:48:42.52\00:48:43.84
Is the stoning of
Stephen a watershed event?
00:48:43.87\00:48:47.59
It most certainly is.
00:48:47.72\00:48:49.16
In fact, do you know
that in Acts chapter 13
00:48:49.27\00:48:51.77
Saul and Barnabas are
ordained to go to the Gentiles?
00:48:53.06\00:48:56.63
Go with me there to
Acts 13 verses 1 to 3.
00:48:56.66\00:48:59.82
That is Saul of Tarsus.
00:49:15.95\00:49:17.33
"As they ministered
to the Lord and fasted,
00:49:17.73\00:49:20.41
the Holy Spirit said..."
00:49:20.44\00:49:22.26
Listen now to what
the Holy Spirit said.
00:49:22.29\00:49:24.34
"'...Now separate
to Me Barnabas and Saul
00:49:24.37\00:49:28.60
for the work to
which I have called them.'
00:49:28.95\00:49:31.50
Then, having fasted and
prayed, and laid hands on them,
00:49:31.81\00:49:36.47
they sent them away."
00:49:36.50\00:49:38.58
Was this the official
beginning of the ministry of
00:49:38.96\00:49:41.15
Saul of Tarsus?
00:49:41.18\00:49:42.29
Absolutely.
00:49:42.53\00:49:43.56
It's when Saul
of Tarsus was what?
00:49:43.59\00:49:45.52
Was ordained.
00:49:45.75\00:49:46.80
Now listen to what happens
in the rest of chapter 13.
00:49:46.83\00:49:50.18
Paul and Barnabas,
after they're ordained,
00:49:51.47\00:49:54.16
they go to Antioch of Pisidia.
00:49:54.89\00:49:57.51
And Paul preached a
long sermon there to the Jews
00:49:58.70\00:50:01.86
in the synagogue.
00:50:01.89\00:50:02.92
You can read this in
chapter 13 at your leisure.
00:50:02.95\00:50:06.55
So Paul preaches a long sermon
like it was customary for him.
00:50:06.65\00:50:09.47
And some people
say, "Well, Pastor Bohr,
00:50:09.50\00:50:10.81
this stuff that you
present is so complicated."
00:50:10.84\00:50:13.09
You think I'm complicated,
you should be the apostle Paul.
00:50:13.72\00:50:17.06
There's complicated.
00:50:18.78\00:50:19.81
Peter said he wrote some things
difficult to be understood.
00:50:19.84\00:50:22.94
But he doesn't blame Paul.
00:50:23.34\00:50:24.37
He doesn't say, "Paul,
you should have been clearer."
00:50:24.40\00:50:26.20
He says, "No, the unlearned
twist to their own destruction."
00:50:26.23\00:50:29.66
So the fault does not
lay with Saul, or with Paul.
00:50:30.80\00:50:34.06
The fault lies with
those who don't study carefully
00:50:34.09\00:50:36.32
what Paul wrote.
00:50:36.35\00:50:37.56
You know, one
person once said to me,
00:50:37.89\00:50:40.12
"Why can't we just be happy?
00:50:40.15\00:50:42.36
Jesus loves me, this I know.
for the Bible tells me so."
00:50:42.63\00:50:45.81
And I looked at
that person and I said,
00:50:47.38\00:50:49.10
"You know, that's
a good suggestion.
00:50:49.13\00:50:50.77
The last time that I
sang that was when I was
00:50:50.80\00:50:53.06
in the primary division."
00:50:53.09\00:50:54.69
That's good for primary kids.
00:50:56.27\00:50:57.82
But God has given us Scripture
to challenge our intellect.
00:50:58.38\00:51:01.39
Hasn't He done that?
00:51:01.98\00:51:03.29
It's like detective work.
00:51:03.60\00:51:04.98
It's marvelous seeing the
unity and harmony of Scripture
00:51:05.01\00:51:08.66
as we study it
carefully, and with prayer,
00:51:08.69\00:51:11.35
and with God's wisdom.
00:51:11.60\00:51:12.91
And so Paul preaches a long
sermon in Antioch of Pisidia
00:51:13.42\00:51:16.47
to the Jews in the synagogue.
00:51:16.50\00:51:18.13
And the Gentiles, when
they heard, because they were
00:51:18.85\00:51:21.00
present there, they heard
the sermon that Paul preached,
00:51:21.13\00:51:24.88
they said, "Could you come
and preach to us next Sabbath?"
00:51:24.91\00:51:28.65
Not next Sunday.
00:51:28.68\00:51:29.79
"Next Sabbath, will
you come and preach to us?"
00:51:29.82\00:51:32.16
And the apostle Paul
said, "Sure, we'll come and
00:51:32.60\00:51:36.17
preach to you next Sabbath."
00:51:36.20\00:51:37.45
And the Bible says
that the next Sabbath,
00:51:37.55\00:51:39.02
almost the whole
city came together.
00:51:39.05\00:51:41.03
And the Gentiles,
bunches of Gentiles,
00:51:42.47\00:51:45.36
gave their lives to the Lord.
00:51:45.39\00:51:47.05
And when the Jews saw that,
they were filled with anger.
00:51:48.32\00:51:52.17
They were filled with jealousy.
00:51:52.76\00:51:54.76
They said, "Oh those Gentiles,
multitudes of Gentiles,
00:51:55.23\00:51:58.87
accepting the message.
00:51:58.90\00:52:00.10
If this grows,
we're going to be...
00:52:00.30\00:52:04.29
...a small group, a
small insignificant group."
00:52:06.62\00:52:09.54
And so they were jealous.
00:52:09.84\00:52:11.04
And they started blaspheming.
00:52:11.81\00:52:13.86
Let's read about it in Acts
chapter 13 verses 46 and 47.
00:52:14.55\00:52:18.23
Remember, this is the first trip
that Saul, or that Paul, takes
00:52:18.26\00:52:21.98
after his ordination.
00:52:22.01\00:52:23.27
He still wants
to preach to whom?
00:52:23.65\00:52:25.78
To the Jews.
00:52:26.37\00:52:27.60
But because the Jews
blaspheme, notice what he says.
00:52:27.90\00:52:31.03
Why did the word of God have
to be spoken to the Jews first?
00:52:40.36\00:52:42.99
Because they had
70 weeks. Exactly.
00:52:43.66\00:52:46.22
Is the kingdom
that Jesus spoke about,
00:52:56.97\00:52:58.85
"The kingdom will be taken
from you and given to a nation
00:52:58.88\00:53:01.27
that produces
the fruits thereof?
00:53:01.30\00:53:02.46
Absolutely.
00:53:02.49\00:53:03.67
"...we turn to the Gentiles..."
00:53:04.14\00:53:05.66
And then now notice.
00:53:05.69\00:53:06.98
Is this a clear prophecy,
the prophecy of the 70 weeks?
00:53:19.61\00:53:22.31
I mean, it is amazing how
God predicted all these things
00:53:23.02\00:53:26.76
centuries before they happened.
00:53:27.50\00:53:30.03
Precisely and exactly.
00:53:30.13\00:53:31.91
Forget Nostradamus.
00:53:31.94\00:53:33.48
You have to stretch
your imagination to find
00:53:33.90\00:53:38.23
anything there that's
being fulfilled today.
00:53:38.26\00:53:40.26
This tells you
exactly when, what, and where
00:53:40.29\00:53:44.82
was going to happen.
00:53:44.85\00:53:45.88
And you know what's sad?
00:53:45.91\00:53:47.02
Almost all of the Protestant
world has taken the last week
00:53:47.52\00:53:50.87
of this prophecy, and instead
of applying it to the Christ
00:53:50.90\00:53:54.28
it has applied it to the
antichrist, who supposedly
00:53:54.31\00:53:57.72
will arise after the
rapture of the church.
00:53:57.75\00:54:00.51
It is a serious
matter to take a prophecy
00:54:00.87\00:54:03.56
that applies to Christ and
apply it to the antichrist.
00:54:03.59\00:54:06.68
And listen carefully
to what I'm going to say.
00:54:06.71\00:54:08.48
What Protestants have done, and
also the Roman Catholic Church
00:54:08.51\00:54:11.84
by doing this, it that they have
exonerated the Jewish nation
00:54:11.87\00:54:16.52
from the terrible crime
of crucifying the Messiah.
00:54:16.55\00:54:19.30
By saying that this
prophecy applies in the future,
00:54:19.93\00:54:24.13
after the rapture of the church,
they're saying that the Jews
00:54:24.33\00:54:27.39
were not guilty of
anything back then.
00:54:27.42\00:54:29.34
But you know what else?
00:54:29.76\00:54:30.91
Because Protestantism
and Roman Catholicism
00:54:31.28\00:54:34.55
has said that the
little horn of Daniel 7
00:54:34.65\00:54:37.66
applies to a future antichrist,
they are also exonerating
00:54:38.05\00:54:42.26
the Roman Catholic Church from
destroying the body of Christ
00:54:42.29\00:54:45.99
during the 1260 years.
00:54:46.02\00:54:48.32
In other words,
what the devil has done
00:54:48.54\00:54:50.41
in shifting the view to
the future, he has exonerated
00:54:50.44\00:54:54.96
the Jewish nation as a nation...
00:54:55.21\00:54:57.28
I'm not talking
about any individuals.
00:54:57.31\00:54:58.88
...from the terrible
crime of crucifying the Messiah.
00:54:58.91\00:55:01.65
And they have also exonerated
the Roman Catholic Church
00:55:01.86\00:55:04.82
from persecuting
the body of Jesus Christ
00:55:04.85\00:55:07.63
during the period that
is known as the dark ages.
00:55:07.66\00:55:09.83
Are you
understanding what I'm saying?
00:55:09.86\00:55:11.56
Everybody today is
looking to the Middle East.
00:55:12.50\00:55:14.55
"Oh, look at the
Muslims. They're the enemy."
00:55:15.46\00:55:17.31
"Oh yeah, look at Jerusalem.
00:55:18.12\00:55:19.65
You know, the Arabs are going
to come and they're going to
00:55:19.79\00:55:21.48
attack Jerusalem."
00:55:21.51\00:55:22.54
And while
everybody is looking east,
00:55:22.57\00:55:24.52
prophecy is being fulfilled in
Rome and in the United States.
00:55:25.66\00:55:29.46
And no one can see it
because they're looking
00:55:29.49\00:55:32.18
in the wrong place.
00:55:32.21\00:55:34.31
The devil is an expert
at directing your attention
00:55:35.31\00:55:38.61
to where the controversy isn't.
00:55:38.64\00:55:40.66
Now allow me to summarize this.
00:55:41.16\00:55:43.10
The 2300 years
begin in the year 457 BC.
00:55:44.36\00:55:48.17
Right?
00:55:48.43\00:55:49.46
You go forward 69
weeks, that's 483 years.
00:55:50.40\00:55:55.62
That takes you
to the year, what?
00:55:55.93\00:55:58.01
27 AD.
00:56:00.00\00:56:01.19
But there's one more week.
00:56:01.65\00:56:03.05
That takes you from
27 to the year, what?
00:56:03.31\00:56:06.40
34 AD.
00:56:06.77\00:56:07.86
So those are
the first 490 years.
00:56:08.06\00:56:10.36
And those 490 years
are cut off from what?
00:56:10.39\00:56:13.51
From the 2300 days.
00:56:14.21\00:56:15.84
Now, so from 457 to 34,
you have the first 490 years
00:56:16.04\00:56:21.61
of the 2300 days.
00:56:21.71\00:56:23.21
So what do you have to
do in order to know when the
00:56:23.24\00:56:25.06
Sanctuary is
going to be cleansed?
00:56:25.09\00:56:26.39
You don't have to
have the wisdom of Solomon
00:56:27.32\00:56:29.50
in order to figure it out.
00:56:30.04\00:56:31.56
All you have to do is
subtract 490 from 2300.
00:56:32.52\00:56:38.19
Because the 490 were fulfilled.
00:56:38.22\00:56:40.35
What does that
give you? 1810 years.
00:56:40.70\00:56:45.42
So basically, what you have
to do is go from the year 34
00:56:46.10\00:56:49.36
1810 years, which is
the remaining portion
00:56:50.08\00:56:53.74
after you
subtracted the 490 years.
00:56:53.77\00:56:56.73
And that will take
you to the precise moment
00:56:56.83\00:56:58.84
when the
Sanctuary will be cleansed.
00:56:58.87\00:57:00.64
And if you do that operation,
you will find that the
00:57:01.05\00:57:05.16
prophecy of the 2300 days
ends precisely in the year 1844.
00:57:05.19\00:57:13.43
Folks, there's no way around it.
00:57:14.32\00:57:15.92
Prophecy is clear.
00:57:16.55\00:57:18.52
The reason why the Christian
world does not like this
00:57:19.02\00:57:21.87
is because if they accepted
it they would have to be
00:57:22.19\00:57:25.49
Seventh-day Adventists.
00:57:25.52\00:57:27.37
