Hello and welcome to 'His Words Are Life,' 00:00:14.97\00:00:17.54 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today 00:00:17.55\00:00:19.20 we're going to continue the story of Daniel together, 00:00:19.21\00:00:21.90 but first let's pray. 00:00:21.91\00:00:24.24 Dear Heavenly Father we thank You 00:00:24.25\00:00:27.04 that you are the God of all things 00:00:27.05\00:00:30.46 and you are the God of 00:00:30.47\00:00:32.70 whatever we're each facing in our present 00:00:32.71\00:00:34.99 and you are the God of our futures 00:00:35.00\00:00:37.65 and I ask you now to be with us 00:00:37.66\00:00:39.86 as we read the story together today 00:00:39.87\00:00:43.26 that you will show us 00:00:43.27\00:00:45.13 the truth that you have for each one of us in these words 00:00:45.14\00:00:48.41 I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. 00:00:48.42\00:00:51.65 Well, in the middle of the story 00:00:51.66\00:00:53.77 of the great golden image that king of Nebuchadnezzar had 00:00:53.78\00:00:58.44 set up in the plain of Dura and he is gather together 00:00:58.45\00:01:01.04 this huge crowd and right in the middle of the announcement 00:01:01.05\00:01:05.14 that when they hear the sound of the music 00:01:05.15\00:01:07.31 everyone should bow down and worship. 00:01:07.32\00:01:09.81 Picking up the story in Daniel Chapter 3 verse 6 00:01:09.82\00:01:13.82 and this is the King James Version. 00:01:13.83\00:01:17.05 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth 00:01:17.06\00:01:20.99 shall the same hour be cast 00:01:21.00\00:01:23.80 into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. 00:01:23.81\00:01:28.05 Therefore at that time, 00:01:28.06\00:01:29.89 when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, 00:01:29.90\00:01:32.72 flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, 00:01:32.73\00:01:34.97 and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, 00:01:34.98\00:01:38.91 and the languages, fell down and worshipped 00:01:38.92\00:01:42.55 the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar 00:01:42.56\00:01:44.74 the king had set up. 00:01:44.75\00:01:46.93 Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans 00:01:46.94\00:01:50.21 came near, and accused the Jews. 00:01:50.22\00:01:54.00 They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, 00:01:54.01\00:01:57.25 O king, live for ever. 00:01:57.26\00:01:59.49 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, 00:01:59.50\00:02:02.30 that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, 00:02:02.31\00:02:05.56 flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, 00:02:05.57\00:02:08.29 and all kinds of musick, 00:02:08.30\00:02:10.06 shall fall down and worship the golden image. 00:02:10.07\00:02:12.59 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, 00:02:12.60\00:02:15.49 that he should be cast 00:02:15.50\00:02:16.52 into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. 00:02:16.53\00:02:19.49 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs 00:02:19.50\00:02:24.48 of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, 00:02:24.49\00:02:28.00 and Abednego, these men, O king, 00:02:28.01\00:02:30.93 have not regarded thee, they serve not thy Gods, 00:02:30.94\00:02:34.99 nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. 00:02:35.00\00:02:39.57 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage 00:02:39.58\00:02:41.99 and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, 00:02:42.00\00:02:45.31 Meshach, and Abednego. 00:02:45.32\00:02:47.72 Then they brought these men before the king. 00:02:47.73\00:02:50.85 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, 00:02:50.86\00:02:53.13 Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 00:02:53.14\00:02:56.43 do not ye serve my Gods, 00:02:56.44\00:02:58.83 nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 00:02:58.84\00:03:02.33 Now if ye be ready that at what time 00:03:02.34\00:03:05.91 ye hear the sound of the cornet, 00:03:05.92\00:03:07.79 flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, 00:03:07.80\00:03:10.07 and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, 00:03:10.08\00:03:12.08 ye fall down and worship the image 00:03:12.09\00:03:13.90 which I have made, well, but if ye worship not, 00:03:13.91\00:03:18.38 ye shall be cast the same hour 00:03:18.39\00:03:20.20 into the midst of a burning fiery furnace, 00:03:20.21\00:03:22.51 and who is that God 00:03:22.52\00:03:24.31 that shall deliver you out of my hands? 00:03:24.32\00:03:28.47 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered 00:03:28.48\00:03:31.08 and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, 00:03:31.09\00:03:35.45 we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 00:03:35.46\00:03:38.87 If it be so, 00:03:38.88\00:03:40.66 our God whom we serve is able to deliver us 00:03:40.67\00:03:44.31 from the burning fiery furnace, 00:03:44.32\00:03:46.58 and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 00:03:46.59\00:03:50.03 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, 00:03:50.04\00:03:53.33 that we will not serve thy Gods, 00:03:53.34\00:03:56.00 nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. 00:03:56.01\00:04:00.92 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, 00:04:00.93\00:04:03.68 and the form of his visage was changed against 00:04:03.69\00:04:07.04 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 00:04:07.05\00:04:08.54 therefore he spake, and commanded 00:04:08.55\00:04:11.09 that they should heat the furnace 00:04:11.10\00:04:13.53 one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. 00:04:13.54\00:04:18.54 And he commanded the most mighty men 00:04:18.55\00:04:21.32 that were in his army to bind Shadrach, 00:04:21.33\00:04:24.33 Meshach, and Abednego, 00:04:24.34\00:04:25.55 and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 00:04:25.56\00:04:28.86 Then these men were bound in their coats, 00:04:28.87\00:04:31.58 their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, 00:04:31.59\00:04:34.98 and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 00:04:34.99\00:04:40.31 Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, 00:04:40.32\00:04:43.42 and the furnace exceeding hot, 00:04:43.43\00:04:45.50 the flame of the fire slew those men 00:04:45.51\00:04:48.40 that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 00:04:48.41\00:04:51.83 And these three men, 00:04:51.84\00:04:53.25 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 00:04:53.26\00:04:55.15 fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 00:04:55.16\00:05:01.90 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, 00:05:01.91\00:05:06.24 and rose up in haste, and spake, 00:05:06.25\00:05:08.19 and said unto his counsellors, 00:05:08.20\00:05:09.79 Did not we cast three men bound 00:05:09.80\00:05:12.36 into the midst of the fire? 00:05:12.37\00:05:14.96 They answered and said unto the king, 00:05:14.97\00:05:16.29 True, O king. 00:05:16.30\00:05:18.22 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, 00:05:18.23\00:05:22.70 walking in the midst of the fire, 00:05:22.71\00:05:24.53 and they have no hurt, 00:05:24.54\00:05:26.76 and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. 00:05:26.77\00:05:32.92 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near 00:05:32.93\00:05:35.10 to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, 00:05:35.11\00:05:37.58 and spake, and said, Shadrach, 00:05:37.59\00:05:39.84 Meshach, and Abednego, 00:05:39.85\00:05:41.21 ye servants of the most high God, 00:05:41.22\00:05:44.16 come forth, and come hither. 00:05:44.17\00:05:47.59 Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 00:05:47.60\00:05:50.72 came forth of the midst of the fire. 00:05:50.73\00:05:54.30 And the princes, governors, and captains, 00:05:54.31\00:05:57.55 and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, 00:05:57.56\00:06:00.68 saw these men, upon whose bodies 00:06:00.69\00:06:04.12 the fire had no power, 00:06:04.13\00:06:06.93 nor was an hair of their head singed, 00:06:06.94\00:06:09.59 neither were their coats changed, 00:06:09.60\00:06:11.88 nor the smell of fire had passed on them. 00:06:11.89\00:06:15.62 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, 00:06:15.63\00:06:18.43 Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, 00:06:18.44\00:06:21.03 and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, 00:06:21.04\00:06:23.93 and delivered his servants that trusted in him, 00:06:23.94\00:06:28.03 and have changed the king's word, 00:06:28.04\00:06:30.42 and yielded their bodies, 00:06:30.43\00:06:32.45 that they might not serve nor worship any God, 00:06:32.46\00:06:36.61 except their own God. 00:06:36.62\00:06:38.89 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, 00:06:38.90\00:06:42.33 nation, and language, 00:06:42.34\00:06:44.11 which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, 00:06:44.12\00:06:47.65 Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, 00:06:47.66\00:06:50.09 and their houses shall be made a dunghill. 00:06:50.10\00:06:53.15 because there is no other God 00:06:53.16\00:06:55.67 that can deliver after this sort. 00:06:55.68\00:06:58.91 Then the king promoted Shadrach, 00:06:58.92\00:07:00.58 Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon. 00:07:00.59\00:07:05.81 Continuing in the book of Daniel Chapter 4 00:07:05.82\00:07:08.44 this is the King James Version. 00:07:08.45\00:07:12.51 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, 00:07:12.52\00:07:15.41 nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth, 00:07:15.42\00:07:18.64 Peace be multiplied unto you. 00:07:18.65\00:07:22.04 I thought it good to show the signs and wonders 00:07:22.05\00:07:25.59 that the high God hath wrought toward me. 00:07:25.60\00:07:29.47 How great are his signs! 00:07:29.48\00:07:32.17 and how mighty are his wonders! 00:07:32.18\00:07:34.81 his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, 00:07:34.82\00:07:37.53 and his dominion is from generation to generation. 00:07:37.54\00:07:42.32 I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, 00:07:42.33\00:07:46.13 and flourishing in my palace, 00:07:46.14\00:07:49.23 I saw a dream which made me afraid, 00:07:49.24\00:07:52.01 and the thoughts upon my bed 00:07:52.02\00:07:53.56 and the visions of my head troubled me. 00:07:53.57\00:07:57.17 Therefore made I a decree 00:07:57.18\00:07:59.06 to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, 00:07:59.07\00:08:01.84 that they might make known unto me 00:08:01.85\00:08:03.34 the interpretation of the dream. 00:08:03.35\00:08:05.55 Then came in the magicians, 00:08:05.56\00:08:06.92 the astrologers, the Chaldeans, 00:08:06.93\00:08:08.41 and the soothsayers, 00:08:08.42\00:08:09.68 and I told the dream before them, 00:08:09.69\00:08:11.64 but they did not make known unto me 00:08:11.65\00:08:13.37 the interpretation thereof. 00:08:13.38\00:08:15.78 But at the last Daniel came in before me, 00:08:15.79\00:08:19.06 whose name was Belteshazzar, 00:08:19.07\00:08:21.09 according to the name of my God, 00:08:21.10\00:08:23.45 and in whom is the spirit of the holy Gods, 00:08:23.46\00:08:25.89 and before him I told the dream, 00:08:25.90\00:08:27.39 saying, O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, 00:08:27.40\00:08:30.90 because I know that the spirit of the holy Gods is in thee, 00:08:30.91\00:08:34.26 and no secret troubleth thee, 00:08:34.27\00:08:36.85 tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, 00:08:36.86\00:08:39.15 and the interpretation thereof. 00:08:39.16\00:08:41.94 Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed, 00:08:41.95\00:08:45.99 I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, 00:08:46.00\00:08:51.97 and the height thereof was great. 00:08:51.98\00:08:54.57 The tree grew, and was strong, 00:08:54.58\00:08:56.46 and the height thereof reached unto heaven, 00:08:56.47\00:08:59.00 and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth. 00:08:59.01\00:09:03.15 The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, 00:09:03.16\00:09:07.10 and in it was meat for all. 00:09:07.11\00:09:10.23 The beasts of the field had shadow under it, 00:09:10.24\00:09:12.29 and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, 00:09:12.30\00:09:14.83 and all flesh was fed of it. 00:09:14.84\00:09:18.34 I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, 00:09:18.35\00:09:22.28 and, behold, a watcher 00:09:22.29\00:09:25.06 and an holy one came down from heaven, 00:09:25.07\00:09:28.04 He cried aloud, and said thus, 00:09:28.05\00:09:30.59 Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, 00:09:30.60\00:09:33.40 shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit, 00:09:33.41\00:09:36.60 let the beasts get away from under it, 00:09:36.61\00:09:38.51 and the fowls from his branches. 00:09:38.52\00:09:41.00 Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, 00:09:41.01\00:09:44.45 even with a band of iron and brass, 00:09:44.46\00:09:47.02 in the tender grass of the field, 00:09:47.03\00:09:49.47 and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, 00:09:49.48\00:09:51.92 and let his portion be with the beasts 00:09:51.93\00:09:54.59 in the grass of the earth. 00:09:54.60\00:09:56.36 Let his heart be changed from man's, 00:09:56.37\00:09:58.68 and let a beast's heart be given unto him, 00:09:58.69\00:10:00.42 and let seven times pass over him. 00:10:00.43\00:10:05.24 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, 00:10:05.25\00:10:07.45 and the demand by the word of the holy ones, 00:10:07.46\00:10:09.57 to the intent that the living 00:10:09.58\00:10:11.89 may know that the most High ruleth 00:10:11.90\00:10:14.38 in the kingdom of men, 00:10:14.39\00:10:16.19 and giveth it to whomsoever he will, 00:10:16.20\00:10:19.29 and setteth up over it the basest of men. 00:10:19.30\00:10:24.84 This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. 00:10:24.85\00:10:29.92 Now thou, O Belteshazzar, 00:10:29.93\00:10:31.64 declare the interpretation thereof, 00:10:31.65\00:10:33.58 forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom 00:10:33.59\00:10:35.47 are not able to make known unto me the interpretation, 00:10:35.48\00:10:38.39 but thou art able, 00:10:38.40\00:10:40.67 for the spirit of the holy Gods is in thee. 00:10:40.68\00:10:44.82 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, 00:10:44.83\00:10:47.33 was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. 00:10:47.34\00:10:52.93 The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, 00:10:52.94\00:10:56.36 let not the dream, 00:10:56.37\00:10:58.09 or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. 00:10:58.10\00:11:02.25 Belteshazzar answered and said, 00:11:02.26\00:11:04.69 My Lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, 00:11:04.70\00:11:08.34 and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies. 00:11:08.35\00:11:12.32 The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, 00:11:12.33\00:11:15.59 whose height reached unto the heaven, 00:11:15.60\00:11:17.55 and the sight thereof to all the earth. 00:11:17.56\00:11:19.88 Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, 00:11:19.89\00:11:22.39 and in it was meat for all, 00:11:22.40\00:11:23.57 under which the beasts of the field dwelt, 00:11:23.58\00:11:25.53 and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven 00:11:25.54\00:11:27.88 had their habitation. 00:11:27.89\00:11:30.00 It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong, 00:11:30.01\00:11:35.70 for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, 00:11:35.71\00:11:38.96 and thy dominion to the end of the earth. 00:11:38.97\00:11:42.59 And whereas the king saw a watcher 00:11:42.60\00:11:45.01 and an holy one coming down from heaven, 00:11:45.02\00:11:48.08 and saying, Hew down the tree, 00:11:48.09\00:11:50.24 and destroy it, yet leave the stump of the roots 00:11:50.25\00:11:52.57 thereof in the earth, 00:11:52.58\00:11:54.20 even with a band of iron and brass, 00:11:54.21\00:11:55.78 in the tender grass of the field, 00:11:55.79\00:11:57.19 and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, 00:11:57.20\00:11:58.74 and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, 00:11:58.75\00:12:01.93 till seven times pass over him. 00:12:01.94\00:12:04.53 This is the interpretation, O king, 00:12:04.54\00:12:06.99 and this is the decree of the most High, 00:12:07.00\00:12:11.38 which is come upon my Lord the king. 00:12:11.39\00:12:14.30 That they shall drive thee from men, 00:12:14.31\00:12:17.11 and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, 00:12:17.12\00:12:19.36 and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, 00:12:19.37\00:12:23.78 and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, 00:12:23.79\00:12:25.41 and seven times shall pass over thee, 00:12:25.42\00:12:28.79 till thou know that the most High ruleth 00:12:28.80\00:12:31.97 in the kingdom of men, 00:12:31.98\00:12:33.69 and giveth it to whomsoever he will. 00:12:33.70\00:12:36.80 And whereas they commanded to leave 00:12:36.81\00:12:38.98 the stump of the tree roots, 00:12:38.99\00:12:41.22 thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, 00:12:41.23\00:12:44.22 after that thou shalt have known 00:12:44.23\00:12:46.82 that the heavens do rule. 00:12:46.83\00:12:50.14 Wherefore, O king, 00:12:50.15\00:12:51.99 let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, 00:12:52.00\00:12:55.52 and break off thy sins by righteousness, 00:12:55.53\00:12:58.84 and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor, 00:12:58.85\00:13:03.20 if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity. 00:13:03.21\00:13:07.78 All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar. 00:13:07.79\00:13:12.17 At the end of twelve months 00:13:12.18\00:13:13.81 he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 00:13:13.82\00:13:17.79 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, 00:13:17.80\00:13:21.35 that I have built for the house of the kingdom 00:13:21.36\00:13:24.08 by the might of my power, 00:13:24.09\00:13:26.00 and for the honour of my majesty? 00:13:26.01\00:13:28.53 While the word was in the king's mouth, 00:13:28.54\00:13:31.79 there fell a voice from heaven, 00:13:31.80\00:13:33.27 saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken, 00:13:33.28\00:13:38.71 The kingdom is departed from thee. 00:13:38.74\00:13:42.14 And they shall drive thee from men, 00:13:42.15\00:13:43.85 and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, 00:13:43.86\00:13:46.40 they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, 00:13:46.41\00:13:49.11 and seven times shall pass over thee, 00:13:49.12\00:13:51.38 until thou know that the most High ruleth 00:13:51.39\00:13:54.28 in the kingdom of men, 00:13:54.29\00:13:56.08 and giveth it to whomsoever he will. 00:13:56.09\00:13:59.12 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar, 00:13:59.13\00:14:03.83 And he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, 00:14:03.84\00:14:07.00 and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, 00:14:07.01\00:14:10.65 till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, 00:14:10.66\00:14:14.39 and his nails like birds' claws. 00:14:14.40\00:14:16.35 And at the end of the days 00:14:16.36\00:14:18.12 I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, 00:14:18.13\00:14:22.28 and mine understanding returned unto me, 00:14:22.29\00:14:25.02 and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him 00:14:25.03\00:14:28.88 that liveth for ever, 00:14:28.89\00:14:30.66 whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, 00:14:30.67\00:14:34.26 and his kingdom is from generation to generation. 00:14:34.27\00:14:38.56
