Hello and welcome to "His Words Are Life." 00:00:14.80\00:00:17.11 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we're going 00:00:17.12\00:00:18.80 to be reading together from the Book of Jeremiah. 00:00:18.81\00:00:21.55 But before we start let's pray together. 00:00:21.56\00:00:24.58 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much 00:00:24.59\00:00:26.70 for your very great blessings to us. 00:00:26.71\00:00:29.91 Thank you, for bringing us to this time 00:00:29.92\00:00:31.84 to hear Your word and to read it together. 00:00:31.85\00:00:33.97 Please be with us now, 00:00:33.98\00:00:35.74 and teach us what you have for us to learn. 00:00:35.75\00:00:37.81 We love You so much and thank you 00:00:37.82\00:00:39.28 for loving us, amen. 00:00:39.29\00:00:42.66 We're reading in Jeremiah Chapter 51 00:00:42.67\00:00:44.96 beginning with verse 62 00:00:44.97\00:00:46.58 and this is the King James Version. 00:00:46.59\00:00:49.95 "Then shalt thou say, 00:00:49.96\00:00:51.69 O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place, 00:00:51.70\00:00:54.13 to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, 00:00:54.14\00:00:57.31 neither man nor beast, 00:00:57.32\00:00:59.17 but that it shall be desolate forever. 00:00:59.18\00:01:02.19 And it shall be, when thou hast made 00:01:02.20\00:01:03.99 an end of reading this book, 00:01:04.00\00:01:06.09 that thou shalt bind a stone to it, 00:01:06.10\00:01:08.16 and cast it into the midst of Euphrates. 00:01:08.17\00:01:11.22 And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, 00:01:11.23\00:01:14.11 and shall not rise from the evil 00:01:14.12\00:01:16.32 that I will bring upon her, and they shall be weary. 00:01:16.33\00:01:20.24 Thus far are the words of Jeremiah." 00:01:20.25\00:01:23.73 We're continuing now in Jeremiah Chapter 52, 00:01:23.74\00:01:26.29 and this is the King James Version. 00:01:26.30\00:01:29.29 "Zedekiah was one and twenty years old 00:01:29.30\00:01:32.65 when he began to reign, 00:01:32.66\00:01:34.72 and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. 00:01:34.73\00:01:37.17 And his mother's name was Hamutal 00:01:37.18\00:01:40.11 the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 00:01:40.12\00:01:43.07 And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord, 00:01:43.08\00:01:46.69 according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 00:01:46.70\00:01:50.15 For through the anger of the Lord 00:01:50.16\00:01:52.21 it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, 00:01:52.22\00:01:55.19 till he had cast them out from his presence, 00:01:55.20\00:01:57.85 that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 00:01:57.86\00:02:01.69 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, 00:02:01.70\00:02:04.38 in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, 00:02:04.39\00:02:07.43 that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, 00:02:07.44\00:02:10.04 he and all his army, against Jerusalem, 00:02:10.05\00:02:13.36 and pitched against it, 00:02:13.37\00:02:14.90 and built forts against it round about. 00:02:14.91\00:02:18.19 So the city was besieged 00:02:18.20\00:02:19.90 unto the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 00:02:19.91\00:02:22.84 And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, 00:02:22.85\00:02:25.39 the famine was sore in the city, 00:02:25.40\00:02:27.83 so that there was no bread for the people of the land. 00:02:27.84\00:02:31.03 Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, 00:02:31.04\00:02:34.40 and went forth out of the city by night 00:02:34.41\00:02:37.11 by the way of the gate between the two walls, 00:02:37.12\00:02:39.15 which was by the king's garden. 00:02:39.16\00:02:41.37 Now the Chaldeans were by the city round about, 00:02:41.38\00:02:44.81 and they went by the way of the plain. 00:02:44.82\00:02:46.98 The army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, 00:02:46.99\00:02:49.39 and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho 00:02:49.40\00:02:51.73 and all his army was scattered from him. 00:02:51.74\00:02:54.51 Then they took the king, and carried him up 00:02:54.52\00:02:56.61 unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, 00:02:56.62\00:02:59.75 where he gave judgment upon him. 00:02:59.76\00:03:02.33 And the king of Babylon slew the sons 00:03:02.34\00:03:04.60 of Zedekiah before his eyes, 00:03:04.61\00:03:06.83 he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah. 00:03:06.84\00:03:10.95 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, 00:03:10.96\00:03:12.97 and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, 00:03:12.98\00:03:15.36 and carried him to Babylon, 00:03:15.37\00:03:16.65 and put him in prison till the day of his death. 00:03:16.66\00:03:20.28 Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, 00:03:20.29\00:03:23.31 which was the nineteenth year 00:03:23.32\00:03:24.58 of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, 00:03:24.59\00:03:27.20 came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, 00:03:27.21\00:03:29.88 which served the king of Babylon, 00:03:29.89\00:03:31.38 into Jerusalem, and burned the house of the Lord, 00:03:31.39\00:03:33.54 and the king's house and all the houses of Jerusalem, 00:03:33.55\00:03:35.60 and all the houses of the great men, 00:03:35.61\00:03:37.00 burned he with fire. 00:03:37.01\00:03:38.74 And all the army of the Chaldeans, 00:03:38.75\00:03:40.30 that were with the captain of the guard, 00:03:40.31\00:03:42.21 brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about. 00:03:42.22\00:03:46.07 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard 00:03:46.08\00:03:48.82 carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, 00:03:48.83\00:03:52.60 and the residue of the people that remained in the city, 00:03:52.61\00:03:55.01 and those that fell away, 00:03:55.02\00:03:56.85 that fell to the king of Babylon, 00:03:56.86\00:03:59.06 and the rest of the multitude. 00:03:59.07\00:04:01.36 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard 00:04:01.37\00:04:03.60 left certain of the poor of the land 00:04:03.61\00:04:05.91 for vinedressers and for husbandmen. 00:04:05.92\00:04:08.83 Also the pillars of brass 00:04:08.84\00:04:10.31 that were in the house of the Lord, 00:04:10.32\00:04:12.03 and the bases, and the brazen sea 00:04:12.04\00:04:14.61 that was in the house of the Lord, 00:04:14.62\00:04:16.37 the Chaldeans brake, and carried 00:04:16.38\00:04:17.90 all the brass of them to Babylon. 00:04:17.91\00:04:20.04 The caldrons also, and the shovels, 00:04:20.05\00:04:21.63 and the snuffers, and the bowls, 00:04:21.64\00:04:23.20 and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass 00:04:23.21\00:04:26.12 wherewith they ministered, took they away. 00:04:26.13\00:04:29.05 And the basons, and the firepans, 00:04:29.06\00:04:31.29 and the bowls, and the caldrons, 00:04:31.30\00:04:32.97 and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups 00:04:32.98\00:04:36.49 that which was of gold in gold 00:04:36.50\00:04:38.77 and that which was of silver in silver, 00:04:38.78\00:04:41.30 took the captain of the guard away. 00:04:41.31\00:04:44.23 The two pillars, one sea, 00:04:44.24\00:04:46.35 and twelve brazen bulls that were under the bases, 00:04:46.36\00:04:48.88 which King Solomon had made in the house of the Lord, 00:04:48.89\00:04:51.86 the brass of all these vessels was without weight. 00:04:51.87\00:04:55.03 And concerning the pillars, 00:04:55.04\00:04:56.41 the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits, 00:04:56.42\00:04:59.09 and a fillet of twelve cubits did compass it, 00:04:59.10\00:05:02.09 and the thickness thereof was four fingers, it was hollow. 00:05:02.10\00:05:06.22 And a chapiter of brass was upon it, 00:05:06.23\00:05:07.95 and the height of one chapiter was five cubits, 00:05:07.96\00:05:10.43 with network and pomegranates 00:05:10.44\00:05:11.99 upon the chapiters round about, all of brass. 00:05:12.00\00:05:15.30 The second pillar also and the pomegranates 00:05:15.31\00:05:17.05 were like unto these. 00:05:17.06\00:05:18.88 And there were ninety 00:05:18.89\00:05:19.94 and six pomegranates on a side, 00:05:19.95\00:05:21.81 and all the pomegranates 00:05:21.82\00:05:22.84 upon the network were an hundred round about. 00:05:22.85\00:05:25.95 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, 00:05:25.96\00:05:29.22 and Zephaniah the second priest, 00:05:29.23\00:05:30.66 and the three keepers of the door. 00:05:30.67\00:05:32.94 He took also out of the city an eunuch, 00:05:32.95\00:05:35.26 which had the charge of the men of war, 00:05:35.27\00:05:37.49 and seven men of them 00:05:37.50\00:05:38.49 that were near the king's person, 00:05:38.50\00:05:40.28 which were found in the city, 00:05:40.29\00:05:42.11 and the principal scribe of the host, 00:05:42.12\00:05:44.55 who mustered the people of the land, 00:05:44.56\00:05:46.15 and threescore men of the people of the land, 00:05:46.16\00:05:49.01 that were found in the midst of the city. 00:05:49.02\00:05:51.74 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, 00:05:51.75\00:05:55.18 and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah. 00:05:55.19\00:05:59.51 And the king of Babylon smote them, 00:05:59.52\00:06:01.87 and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. 00:06:01.88\00:06:05.45 Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land. 00:06:05.46\00:06:11.32 This is the people whom Nebuchadnezzar 00:06:11.33\00:06:13.95 carried away captive in the seventh year 00:06:13.96\00:06:16.70 three thousand Jews and three and twenty. 00:06:16.71\00:06:19.87 In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar 00:06:19.88\00:06:22.00 he carried away captive 00:06:22.01\00:06:23.22 from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons. 00:06:23.23\00:06:27.15 In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadnezzar, 00:06:27.16\00:06:31.03 Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard 00:06:31.04\00:06:33.51 carried away captive of the Jews 00:06:33.52\00:06:35.38 seven hundred forty and five persons, 00:06:35.39\00:06:37.47 all the persons were four thousand and six hundred. 00:06:37.48\00:06:41.66 And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year 00:06:41.67\00:06:44.39 of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, 00:06:44.40\00:06:47.81 in the twelfth month, 00:06:47.82\00:06:49.37 in the five and twentieth day of the month, 00:06:49.38\00:06:52.15 that Evilmerodach king of Babylon 00:06:52.16\00:06:54.75 in the first year of his reign 00:06:54.76\00:06:56.84 lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, 00:06:56.85\00:07:00.12 and brought him forth out of prison. 00:07:00.13\00:07:03.11 And spake kindly unto him, 00:07:03.12\00:07:05.08 and set his throne above the throne of the kings 00:07:05.09\00:07:08.24 that were with him in Babylon. 00:07:08.25\00:07:10.15 And changed his prison garments, 00:07:10.16\00:07:12.90 and he did continually eat bread 00:07:12.91\00:07:15.05 before him all the days of his life. 00:07:15.06\00:07:18.16 And for his diet, there was a continual diet 00:07:18.17\00:07:21.17 given him of the king of Babylon, 00:07:21.18\00:07:23.69 every day a portion until the day of his death, 00:07:23.70\00:07:27.26 all the days of his life." 00:07:27.27\00:07:30.67 We're going now to the Book of Lamentations Chapter 1 00:07:30.68\00:07:33.94 and this is the King James Version. 00:07:33.95\00:07:37.05 "How doth the city sit solitary, 00:07:37.06\00:07:39.73 that was full of people. 00:07:39.74\00:07:41.70 How is she become as a widow. 00:07:41.71\00:07:44.27 She that was great among the nations, 00:07:44.28\00:07:46.14 and princess among the provinces, 00:07:46.15\00:07:48.51 how is she become tributary. 00:07:48.52\00:07:50.73 She weepeth sore in the night, 00:07:50.74\00:07:52.46 and her tears are on her cheeks, 00:07:52.47\00:07:55.11 among all her lovers she hath none to comfort her, 00:07:55.12\00:07:58.55 all her friends have dealt treacherously with her, 00:07:58.56\00:08:01.10 they are become her enemies. 00:08:01.11\00:08:03.28 Judah is gone into captivity because of affliction, 00:08:03.29\00:08:06.85 and because of great servitude. 00:08:06.86\00:08:09.37 She dwelleth among the heathen, 00:08:09.38\00:08:11.23 she findeth no rest. 00:08:11.24\00:08:13.60 All her persecutors overtook her 00:08:13.61\00:08:15.75 between the straits. 00:08:15.76\00:08:17.81 The ways of Zion do mourn, 00:08:17.82\00:08:19.64 because none come to the solemn feasts. 00:08:19.65\00:08:22.86 All her gates are desolate, her priests sigh, 00:08:22.87\00:08:26.78 her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness. 00:08:26.79\00:08:30.32 Her adversaries are the chief, 00:08:30.33\00:08:32.03 her enemies prosper, 00:08:32.04\00:08:33.96 for the Lord hath afflicted her 00:08:33.97\00:08:35.46 for the multitude of her transgressions. 00:08:35.47\00:08:37.90 Her children are gone into captivity 00:08:37.91\00:08:39.92 before the enemy. 00:08:39.93\00:08:41.74 And from the daughter of Zion all her beauty is departed. 00:08:41.75\00:08:45.47 Her princes are become like harts that find no pasture, 00:08:45.48\00:08:48.30 and they are gone without strength 00:08:48.31\00:08:49.82 before the pursuer. 00:08:49.83\00:08:52.02 Jerusalem remembered in the days of her affliction 00:08:52.03\00:08:54.88 and of her miseries all her pleasant things 00:08:54.89\00:08:57.38 that she had in the days of old, 00:08:57.39\00:08:59.10 when her people fell into the hand of the enemy, 00:08:59.11\00:09:01.27 and none did help her. 00:09:01.28\00:09:02.98 The adversaries saw her, 00:09:02.99\00:09:04.71 and did mock at her sabbaths. 00:09:04.72\00:09:07.44 Jerusalem hath grievously sinned, 00:09:07.45\00:09:10.77 therefore she is removed. 00:09:10.78\00:09:13.30 All that honoured her despise her, 00:09:13.31\00:09:15.78 because they have seen her nakedness, 00:09:15.79\00:09:18.01 yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward. 00:09:18.02\00:09:21.53 Her filthiness is in her skirts, 00:09:21.54\00:09:23.92 she remembereth not her last end, 00:09:23.93\00:09:26.60 therefore she came down wonderfully. 00:09:26.61\00:09:29.32 She had no comforter. 00:09:29.33\00:09:31.32 O Lord, behold my affliction. 00:09:31.33\00:09:33.12 for the enemy hath magnified himself. 00:09:33.13\00:09:35.77 The adversary hath spread out his hand 00:09:35.78\00:09:38.11 upon all her pleasant things, 00:09:38.12\00:09:40.01 for she hath seen that the heathen 00:09:40.02\00:09:42.33 entered into her sanctuary, 00:09:42.34\00:09:44.12 whom thou didst command 00:09:44.13\00:09:45.31 that they should not enter into thy congregation. 00:09:45.32\00:09:48.56 All her people sigh, they seek bread, 00:09:48.57\00:09:52.36 they have given their pleasant things 00:09:52.37\00:09:54.44 for meat to relieve the soul. 00:09:54.45\00:09:56.77 See, O Lord, and consider, for I am become vile. 00:09:56.78\00:10:01.72 Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? 00:10:01.73\00:10:04.85 Behold, and see if there be any sorrow 00:10:04.86\00:10:07.22 like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, 00:10:07.23\00:10:09.80 wherewith the Lord hath afflicted me 00:10:09.81\00:10:11.24 in the day of his fierce anger. 00:10:11.25\00:10:13.35 From above hath he sent fire into my bones, 00:10:13.36\00:10:15.97 and it prevaileth against them. 00:10:15.98\00:10:18.13 He hath spread a net for my feet, 00:10:18.14\00:10:20.29 he hath turned me back. 00:10:20.30\00:10:21.89 He hath made me desolate and faint all the day. 00:10:21.90\00:10:25.58 The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand. 00:10:25.59\00:10:29.49 They are wreathed, and come up upon my neck. 00:10:29.50\00:10:32.60 He hath made my strength to fall, 00:10:32.61\00:10:35.18 the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, 00:10:35.19\00:10:37.92 from whom I am not able to rise up. 00:10:37.93\00:10:41.50 The Lord hath trodden under foot 00:10:41.51\00:10:43.08 all my mighty men in the midst of me. 00:10:43.09\00:10:45.76 He hath called an assembly against me 00:10:45.77\00:10:47.97 to crush my young men. 00:10:47.98\00:10:49.85 The Lord hath trodden the virgin, 00:10:49.86\00:10:51.53 the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress. 00:10:51.54\00:10:54.92 For these things I weep, mine eye, 00:10:54.93\00:10:57.59 mine eye runneth down with water, 00:10:57.60\00:10:59.21 because the comforter that should relieve 00:10:59.22\00:11:00.83 my soul is far from me. 00:11:00.84\00:11:03.62 My children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed. 00:11:03.63\00:11:07.41 Zion spreadeth forth her hands, 00:11:07.42\00:11:09.21 and there is none to comfort her. 00:11:09.22\00:11:11.18 The Lord hath commanded concerning Jacob, 00:11:11.19\00:11:13.22 that his adversaries should be round about him. 00:11:13.23\00:11:15.77 Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them. 00:11:15.78\00:11:19.86 The Lord is righteous, 00:11:19.87\00:11:21.45 for I have rebelled against his commandment. 00:11:21.46\00:11:24.48 Hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow. 00:11:24.49\00:11:29.03 My virgins and my young men are gone into captivity. 00:11:29.04\00:11:32.30 I called for my lovers, but they deceived me. 00:11:32.31\00:11:34.77 My priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, 00:11:34.78\00:11:38.38 while they sought their meat to relieve their souls. 00:11:38.39\00:11:41.69 Behold, O Lord, for I am in distress. 00:11:41.70\00:11:45.31 My bowels are troubled, 00:11:45.32\00:11:46.58 mine heart is turned within me, 00:11:46.59\00:11:48.98 for I have grievously rebelled. 00:11:48.99\00:11:51.91 Abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death. 00:11:51.92\00:11:57.76 They have heard that I sigh. 00:11:57.77\00:11:59.60 There is none to comfort me. 00:11:59.61\00:12:02.21 All mine enemies have heard of my trouble, 00:12:02.22\00:12:05.32 they are glad that thou hast done it. 00:12:05.33\00:12:07.43 Thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, 00:12:07.44\00:12:09.39 and they shall be like unto me. 00:12:09.40\00:12:11.57 Let all their wickedness come before thee, 00:12:11.58\00:12:13.38 and do unto them, 00:12:13.39\00:12:14.44 as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions, 00:12:14.45\00:12:17.72 for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint." 00:12:17.73\00:12:22.44 Continuing Lamentations Chapter 2. 00:12:22.45\00:12:26.03 "How hath the Lord covered 00:12:26.04\00:12:27.58 the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, 00:12:27.59\00:12:30.19 and cast down from heaven 00:12:30.20\00:12:31.64 unto the earth the beauty of Israel, 00:12:31.65\00:12:33.83 and remembered not his footstool 00:12:33.84\00:12:35.95 in the day of his anger. 00:12:35.96\00:12:38.03 The Lord hath swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, 00:12:38.04\00:12:41.14 and hath not pitied. 00:12:41.15\00:12:42.57 He hath thrown down in his wrath 00:12:42.58\00:12:44.17 the strong holds of the daughter of Judah, 00:12:44.18\00:12:46.59 he hath brought them down to the ground. 00:12:46.60\00:12:48.44 He hath polluted the kingdom and the princes thereof. 00:12:48.45\00:12:51.86 He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel. 00:12:51.87\00:12:55.11 He hath drawn back his right hand 00:12:55.12\00:12:56.70 from before the enemy, and he burned 00:12:56.71\00:12:58.46 against Jacob like a flaming fire, 00:12:58.47\00:13:00.34 which devoureth round about. 00:13:00.35\00:13:02.80 He hath bent his bow like an enemy. 00:13:02.81\00:13:05.84 He stood with his right hand as an adversary, 00:13:05.85\00:13:08.13 and slew all that were pleasant 00:13:08.14\00:13:10.32 to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion. 00:13:10.33\00:13:13.54 He poured out his fury like fire. 00:13:13.55\00:13:16.43 The Lord was as an enemy. 00:13:16.44\00:13:18.09 He hath swallowed up Israel, 00:13:18.10\00:13:19.42 he hath swallowed up all her palaces. 00:13:19.43\00:13:21.16 He hath destroyed his strong holds, 00:13:21.17\00:13:23.40 and hath increased in the daughter of Judah 00:13:23.41\00:13:26.02 mourning and lamentation. 00:13:26.03\00:13:27.97 And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, 00:13:27.98\00:13:30.87 as if it were of a garden. 00:13:30.88\00:13:32.75 He hath destroyed his places of the assembly. 00:13:32.76\00:13:35.69 The Lord hath caused the solemn feasts 00:13:35.70\00:13:37.84 and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, 00:13:37.85\00:13:39.87 and hath despised in the indignation 00:13:39.88\00:13:41.79 of his anger the king and the priest. 00:13:41.80\00:13:44.80 The Lord hath cast off his altar, 00:13:44.81\00:13:47.11 he hath abhorred his sanctuary, 00:13:47.12\00:13:49.28 he hath given up into the hand of the enemy 00:13:49.29\00:13:51.96 the walls of her palaces, 00:13:51.97\00:13:53.93 they have made a noise in the house of the Lord, 00:13:53.94\00:13:56.57 as in the day of a solemn feast. 00:13:56.58\00:14:01.20 The Lord hath purposed 00:14:01.21\00:14:02.34 to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion. 00:14:02.35\00:14:05.44 He hath stretched out a line, 00:14:05.45\00:14:07.14 he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying. 00:14:07.15\00:14:10.59 Therefore he made the rampart and the wall to lament, 00:14:10.60\00:14:13.54 they languished together. 00:14:13.55\00:14:15.51 Her gates are sunk into the ground, 00:14:15.52\00:14:17.90 he hath destroyed and broken her bars. 00:14:17.91\00:14:20.87 Her king and her princes are among the Gentiles. 00:14:20.88\00:14:24.13 The law is no more, 00:14:24.14\00:14:25.81 her prophets also find no vision from the Lord. 00:14:25.82\00:14:29.08 The elders of the daughter of Zion 00:14:29.09\00:14:30.84 sit upon the ground, and keep silence. 00:14:30.85\00:14:33.39 They have cast up dust upon their heads, 00:14:33.40\00:14:36.15 they have girded themselves with sackcloth. 00:14:36.16\00:14:38.91 The virgins of Jerusalem
