Hello, and welcome to His Words are Life 00:00:16.57\00:00:18.38 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining with me today 00:00:18.41\00:00:21.92 to read the word of God. Before we start, let's pray together. 00:00:21.95\00:00:24.88 Dear God, thank you so much for the word that you have placed 00:00:24.91\00:00:30.85 into our lives to bear fruit. May we not just hear the words 00:00:30.88\00:00:35.75 that will be read today, but may they go deep into our heart 00:00:35.78\00:00:39.27 by the power of your Holy Spirit and may the lives that we live 00:00:39.30\00:00:44.36 be changed by what we're going to hear this time together. 00:00:44.39\00:00:48.43 May we be more usable by you because of it. 00:00:48.46\00:00:52.02 We love you so much and thank you for loving us. Amen 00:00:52.05\00:00:55.19 When we were last together we were reading 00:00:55.23\00:00:58.01 in the book of Deuteronomy. Moses has gathered 00:00:58.04\00:01:00.20 the children of Israel together and he's recounting with them 00:01:00.23\00:01:03.53 God's leading, from the land of Egypt where they were slaves 00:01:03.56\00:01:08.12 to the land of promise. Moses says to them, I'm putting before 00:01:08.15\00:01:11.93 you, this day, a blessing and a curse. And he's laying out 00:01:11.96\00:01:14.93 for them the blessing that will be theirs if they would hear 00:01:14.96\00:01:17.23 and do the word of the Lord, and a terrible curse that will 00:01:17.27\00:01:20.64 be in their lives if they reject the word of the Lord. 00:01:20.67\00:01:23.45 We're picking up now in Deuteronomy chapter 13. 00:01:23.48\00:01:26.47 This is the King James Version. If there arise among you 00:01:26.50\00:01:30.96 a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign 00:01:30.99\00:01:35.39 or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he 00:01:35.42\00:01:38.51 spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, 00:01:38.54\00:01:42.06 which thou has not known, and let us serve them; 00:01:42.09\00:01:45.19 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, 00:01:45.22\00:01:48.68 or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, 00:01:48.71\00:01:52.64 to know whether you love the Lord your God 00:01:52.67\00:01:55.18 with all your heart and with all your soul. 00:01:55.21\00:01:57.48 Ye shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, 00:01:57.51\00:02:00.82 and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, 00:02:00.85\00:02:03.21 and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 00:02:03.24\00:02:05.27 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, 00:02:05.30\00:02:08.58 shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away 00:02:08.61\00:02:12.79 from the Lord your God, which brought you out of the land 00:02:12.82\00:02:15.13 of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, 00:02:15.16\00:02:18.26 to thrust thee out of the way which the Lord thy God commanded 00:02:18.29\00:02:21.80 thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst 00:02:21.83\00:02:26.13 of thee. If thy brother, the son of the mother, or thy son, 00:02:26.16\00:02:31.37 or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, 00:02:31.40\00:02:34.87 which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, 00:02:34.90\00:02:38.98 Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, 00:02:39.01\00:02:42.72 thou, nor thy fathers; namely, of the gods of the people which 00:02:42.75\00:02:46.44 are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, 00:02:46.47\00:02:49.88 from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of 00:02:49.91\00:02:52.20 the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, 00:02:52.23\00:02:55.60 nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, 00:02:55.63\00:02:59.92 neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him; 00:02:59.95\00:03:04.79 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first 00:03:04.82\00:03:09.07 upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all 00:03:09.10\00:03:11.86 the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; 00:03:11.89\00:03:15.94 because he hath sought to thrust the away from the Lord thy God, 00:03:15.97\00:03:20.88 which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house 00:03:20.91\00:03:23.84 of bondage. And all Israel shall hear, and fear, 00:03:23.87\00:03:28.24 and shall do no more any such wickedness as this among is you. 00:03:28.27\00:03:33.66 If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the Lord 00:03:33.69\00:03:37.60 thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying, Certain men, 00:03:37.63\00:03:41.09 the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have 00:03:41.12\00:03:44.48 withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go 00:03:44.51\00:03:48.12 and serve other gods, which ye have not known; Then shalt thou 00:03:48.15\00:03:52.72 inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and behold, 00:03:52.75\00:03:57.02 if it be truth, and the thing is certain, that such abomination 00:03:57.05\00:04:01.58 is wrought among you; Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants 00:04:01.61\00:04:05.18 of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly 00:04:05.21\00:04:08.85 and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge 00:04:08.88\00:04:12.99 of the sword. And shalt gather all the spoil of it into the 00:04:13.02\00:04:17.32 midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, 00:04:17.35\00:04:20.64 and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the Lord thy God: 00:04:20.67\00:04:23.93 and it shall be an heap forever; it shall not be built again. 00:04:23.96\00:04:28.43 And there shall cleave naught of the cursed thing 00:04:28.46\00:04:31.92 to thine hand: that the Lord may turn from the fierceness 00:04:31.95\00:04:34.63 of his anger, and show thee mercy, and have compassion 00:04:34.66\00:04:38.39 upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn 00:04:38.42\00:04:41.61 unto thy fathers; When thou shalt hearken to the voice 00:04:41.64\00:04:45.82 of the Lord thy God, to keep all his commandments 00:04:45.85\00:04:49.00 which I command thee this day, to do that which is right 00:04:49.03\00:04:52.30 in the eyes of the Lord thy God. 00:04:52.33\00:04:54.76 We're continuing now with Deuteronomy, chapter 14, 00:04:54.79\00:04:58.57 and this is the King James Version. 00:04:58.60\00:05:00.12 Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut 00:05:00.15\00:05:05.08 yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes 00:05:05.11\00:05:08.11 for the dead. For thou art an holy people unto the Lord 00:05:08.14\00:05:11.24 thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar 00:05:11.27\00:05:14.19 people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon 00:05:14.22\00:05:18.19 the earth. Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing. 00:05:18.22\00:05:21.87 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, 00:05:21.90\00:05:25.99 and the goat, the hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow deer, 00:05:26.02\00:05:30.09 and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox 00:05:30.12\00:05:32.79 and the chamois. And every beast that parteth the hoof, 00:05:32.82\00:05:36.46 and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud 00:05:36.49\00:05:39.79 among the beasts, that ye shall eat. Nevertheless these ye shall 00:05:39.82\00:05:45.01 not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the 00:05:45.04\00:05:48.07 cloven hoof, as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: 00:05:48.10\00:05:51.19 for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; 00:05:51.22\00:05:54.39 therefore they are unclean unto you. And the swine, because it 00:05:54.42\00:05:59.79 divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto 00:05:59.82\00:06:04.07 you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, 00:06:04.10\00:06:06.64 nor touch their dead carcase. These ye shall eat of all 00:06:06.67\00:06:10.24 that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales 00:06:10.27\00:06:13.60 shall ye eat: and whatsoever hath not fins and scales 00:06:13.63\00:06:17.87 ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you. 00:06:17.90\00:06:20.91 Of all clean birds ye shall eat. But these are they of which 00:06:20.94\00:06:25.95 ye shall not eat; the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the osprey, 00:06:25.98\00:06:30.09 and the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind, 00:06:30.12\00:06:34.13 and every raven after his kind and the owl, and the night hawk, 00:06:34.16\00:06:38.19 and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind, the little owl, 00:06:38.22\00:06:42.63 and the great owl, and the swan and the pelican, and the gier 00:06:42.66\00:06:46.45 eagle and the cormorant, and the stork, and the heron, 00:06:46.48\00:06:49.71 after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. 00:06:49.74\00:06:52.03 And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: 00:06:52.06\00:06:55.99 they shall not be eaten. But of all clean fowls ye may eat. 00:06:56.02\00:07:00.90 Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself: 00:07:00.93\00:07:04.77 thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, 00:07:04.80\00:07:08.36 that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: 00:07:08.39\00:07:12.35 for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God. 00:07:12.38\00:07:15.90 Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. 00:07:15.93\00:07:20.16 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, 00:07:20.19\00:07:23.92 that the field bringeth forth year by year. 00:07:23.95\00:07:26.18 And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which 00:07:26.21\00:07:30.08 he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe 00:07:30.11\00:07:33.17 of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings 00:07:33.20\00:07:37.34 of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear 00:07:37.37\00:07:41.67 the Lord thy God always. And if the way be too long for thee, 00:07:41.70\00:07:46.12 so that not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from 00:07:46.15\00:07:50.69 thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name 00:07:50.72\00:07:53.50 there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee: 00:07:53.53\00:07:55.65 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money 00:07:55.68\00:08:00.45 in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord 00:08:00.48\00:08:02.65 thy God shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money 00:08:02.68\00:08:05.64 for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, 00:08:05.67\00:08:09.72 or for wine, or for strong drink or for whatsoever thy soul 00:08:09.75\00:08:13.08 desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, 00:08:13.11\00:08:16.68 and thou shalt rejoice, thou and thine household, 00:08:16.71\00:08:19.93 And the Levite that is within thy gates; 00:08:19.96\00:08:22.43 thou shalt no forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance 00:08:22.46\00:08:25.16 with thee. At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all 00:08:25.19\00:08:29.23 the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up 00:08:29.26\00:08:32.26 within thy gates: and the Levite, (because he hath no part 00:08:32.29\00:08:36.04 nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, 00:08:36.07\00:08:38.29 and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within 00:08:38.32\00:08:41.34 thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; 00:08:41.37\00:08:44.90 that the Lord thy God may bless thee 00:08:44.93\00:08:47.96 in all the work of thine hand which thou doest. 00:08:47.99\00:08:51.53 We're continuing now in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 15 00:08:51.56\00:08:55.78 And this is the King James Version. 00:08:55.81\00:08:57.77 At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release. 00:08:57.80\00:09:03.09 And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor 00:09:03.12\00:09:07.20 that lendeth aught unto his neighbor shall release it; 00:09:07.23\00:09:10.27 he shall not exact it of his neighbor, or of his brother; 00:09:10.30\00:09:14.23 because it is called the Lord's release. Of a foreigner 00:09:14.26\00:09:19.23 thou mayest exact it again: but that which is thine 00:09:19.26\00:09:22.31 with thy brother, thine hand shall release; 00:09:22.34\00:09:24.72 save when there shall be no poor among you; 00:09:24.75\00:09:27.67 for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which the Lord 00:09:27.70\00:09:30.46 thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it: 00:09:30.49\00:09:33.37 Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of the Lord 00:09:33.40\00:09:38.36 thy God, to observe to do all these commandments 00:09:38.39\00:09:41.54 which I command thee this day. For the Lord thy God blesseth 00:09:41.57\00:09:45.74 thee, as he promised thee: and thou shalt lend unto many 00:09:45.77\00:09:49.52 nations, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt reign 00:09:49.55\00:09:52.77 over many nations, but they shall not reign over thee. 00:09:52.80\00:09:55.77 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within 00:09:55.80\00:09:59.83 any of thy gates, in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth 00:09:59.86\00:10:03.75 thee, Thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand 00:10:03.79\00:10:07.65 from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide 00:10:07.68\00:10:11.50 unto him and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, 00:10:11.53\00:10:14.91 in that which he wanteth. Beware that there be not a thought 00:10:14.94\00:10:20.07 in thy wicked heart, saying, The 7th year, the year of release, 00:10:20.10\00:10:24.18 is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, 00:10:24.21\00:10:27.93 and thou givest him naught; and he cry unto the Lord 00:10:27.96\00:10:31.35 against thee, and it be sin unto thee. 00:10:31.38\00:10:33.33 Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved 00:10:33.36\00:10:37.01 when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing 00:10:37.04\00:10:41.47 the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, 00:10:41.50\00:10:44.46 and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. 00:10:44.49\00:10:47.41 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I 00:10:47.44\00:10:51.18 command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy 00:10:51.21\00:10:55.00 brother, to thy poor, and unto thy needy, 00:10:55.03\00:10:57.66 in thy land. And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, 00:10:57.69\00:11:01.39 or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee 00:11:01.42\00:11:04.46 six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free 00:11:04.49\00:11:08.15 from thee. And when thou sendest him out free from thee, 00:11:08.18\00:11:11.06 thou shalt not let him go away empty: Thou shalt furnish him 00:11:11.09\00:11:14.63 liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, 00:11:14.66\00:11:17.24 and out of thy winepress: of that wherewith the Lord thy God 00:11:17.27\00:11:20.64 hath blessed thee thou shalt give unto him. 00:11:20.67\00:11:23.14 and thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in the land 00:11:23.17\00:11:27.93 of Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee: therefore 00:11:27.96\00:11:31.61 I command thee this thing today. And it shall be, if he say unto 00:11:31.64\00:11:36.06 thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee 00:11:36.09\00:11:39.97 and thine house, because he is well with thee; 00:11:40.00\00:11:42.39 Then thou shalt take an awl, and thrust it through his ear 00:11:42.42\00:11:46.47 unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. 00:11:46.50\00:11:49.91 And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise. 00:11:49.94\00:11:53.47 It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou sendest him 00:11:53.50\00:11:57.03 away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double 00:11:57.06\00:11:59.73 hired servant to thee in serving thee six years; 00:11:59.76\00:12:02.41 and the Lord thy God shall bless thee 00:12:02.44\00:12:05.35 in all that thou doest. All the firstling males that come 00:12:05.38\00:12:10.35 of thy herd and of thy flock thou shalt sanctify 00:12:10.38\00:12:13.13 unto the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work 00:12:13.16\00:12:16.45 with the firstling of thy bullock, nor shear the firstling 00:12:16.48\00:12:19.49 of thy sheep.
