Hi, and welcome back to His Words are Life. 00:00:16.80\00:00:18.92 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we're going to continue reading in 00:00:18.95\00:00:22.22 the story of Exodus, about God setting people free from Pharaoh 00:00:22.25\00:00:26.95 and the Egyptians. But before we read, let's pray together. 00:00:26.98\00:00:29.11 Dear God, Thank you so much for these words that we can come to 00:00:29.14\00:00:34.78 You; those of us who are feeling weak. These words make us strong 00:00:34.81\00:00:38.83 Those of us who may be discouraged, these words 00:00:38.86\00:00:42.55 give us courage and hope in You. Those of us who have questions 00:00:42.58\00:00:46.51 things we're facing, this word will give us wisdom. 00:00:46.54\00:00:48.91 Please be with us now as we read. May we be strengthened 00:00:48.94\00:00:52.28 to serve thee better. We love you so much and thank you 00:00:52.31\00:00:54.78 for loving us. Amen. When we were together last, 00:00:54.81\00:00:58.20 after reading about the plagues that God is beginning to send 00:00:58.23\00:01:02.15 on Egypt. We're in the middle of the plague of the frogs. 00:01:02.18\00:01:05.05 And Pharaoh has come to Moses and said, Get rid of the frogs 00:01:05.08\00:01:08.50 and I'll let your people go to worship. And Moses said, 00:01:08.53\00:01:12.08 When do you want them to be gone? And Pharaoh sets the time, 00:01:12.11\00:01:14.94 and Moses said, I will do as you say so that you will know 00:01:14.97\00:01:17.42 that there is a God in heaven. And we begin to pick up here on 00:01:17.45\00:01:21.54 Exodus, chapter 8, and starting with verse 11. 00:01:21.57\00:01:24.77 And this is the King James Version. 00:01:24.80\00:01:25.90 And the frogs shall depart from thee and from thy houses and 00:01:25.93\00:01:30.64 from thy servants, and from thy people. And they shall 00:01:30.67\00:01:33.58 remain in the river only. And Moses and Aaron went out 00:01:33.61\00:01:36.90 from Pharaoh and Moses cried unto the Lord because of the 00:01:36.93\00:01:39.83 frogs which he had brought against Pharaoh. And the Lord 00:01:39.86\00:01:43.04 did according to the word of Moses. And the frogs died 00:01:43.07\00:01:46.63 out of the houses, out of the villages, and out of the fields. 00:01:46.66\00:01:49.44 And they gathered them together upon heaps and the land stank. 00:01:49.47\00:01:53.63 But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his 00:01:53.66\00:01:57.50 heart and hearkened not unto them, as the Lord has said. 00:01:57.53\00:02:01.06 And the Lord said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, stretch out thy 00:02:01.09\00:02:05.34 rod and smite the dust of the land that it may become lice 00:02:05.37\00:02:09.32 throughout all the land of Egypt. And they did so; 00:02:09.35\00:02:12.95 For Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod and smote the 00:02:12.98\00:02:16.21 dust of the earth, and it became lice in man and in beast. 00:02:16.24\00:02:20.69 All the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of 00:02:20.72\00:02:24.00 Egypt. And the magicians did so with their enchantments 00:02:24.03\00:02:27.68 to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice 00:02:27.71\00:02:31.69 upon man, and upon beast. Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, 00:02:31.72\00:02:36.80 This is the finger of God. Pharaoh's heart was hardened 00:02:36.83\00:02:40.41 and he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had said. 00:02:40.44\00:02:42.62 And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning 00:02:42.65\00:02:45.61 and stand before Pharaoh. Lo he cometh forth to water 00:02:45.64\00:02:49.61 and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go 00:02:49.64\00:02:54.27 that they may serve him, else if will not let my people go, 00:02:54.30\00:02:58.73 behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee and upon thy 00:02:58.76\00:03:03.96 servants, and upon thy people, into thy houses, and the houses 00:03:03.99\00:03:08.16 of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies and also 00:03:08.19\00:03:13.12 the ground whereon they are. And I will sever in that day 00:03:13.15\00:03:17.26 the land of Goshen in which my people dwell that no swarms of 00:03:17.29\00:03:21.45 flies shall be there, to the end that thou mayest know 00:03:21.48\00:03:24.97 that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth. And I will put a 00:03:25.00\00:03:29.33 division between my people, and thy people tomorrow 00:03:29.36\00:03:33.44 shall the sign be. And the Lord did so and there came a grievous 00:03:33.47\00:03:38.76 swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh and into the servants' 00:03:38.79\00:03:42.43 houses and all the land of Egypt. The land was corrupted 00:03:42.46\00:03:45.88 by reason of swarms of flies. And Pharaoh called for Moses and 00:03:45.91\00:03:50.59 for Aaron and said, Go ye, sacrifice to your God 00:03:50.62\00:03:53.40 in the land. And Moses said, It is not meat so to do, 00:03:53.43\00:03:58.49 for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians 00:03:58.52\00:04:01.37 for the Lord our God. Lo, shall we sacrifice the abomination 00:04:01.40\00:04:05.25 of the Egyptians before their eyes and will they not stone us? 00:04:05.28\00:04:08.67 We will go 3 days journey into the wilderness and sacrifice 00:04:08.70\00:04:12.92 to the Lord our God as he shall command us. And Pharaoh said, 00:04:12.95\00:04:15.72 And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the 00:04:15.75\00:04:21.02 Lord your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far 00:04:21.05\00:04:24.68 away: entreat for me. And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee 00:04:24.71\00:04:29.78 and I will entreat the Lord that the swarms of flies may depart 00:04:29.81\00:04:32.58 from Pharaoh, from his servants and from his people, tomorrow: 00:04:32.61\00:04:35.46 but let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not 00:04:35.49\00:04:39.75 letting the people go to sacrifice to the Lord. 00:04:39.78\00:04:41.98 And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and entreated the Lord. 00:04:42.01\00:04:45.49 And the Lord did according to the word of Moses; 00:04:45.52\00:04:47.93 And he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, 00:04:47.96\00:04:51.33 from his servants, and from his people; there remained not one. 00:04:51.36\00:04:54.98 And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would 00:04:55.01\00:05:00.09 he let the people go. Continuing to read in Exodus, 00:05:00.12\00:05:05.92 This is chapter 9, The King James Version. 00:05:05.95\00:05:08.41 Then the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh and tell him, 00:05:08.44\00:05:13.00 Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, 00:05:13.03\00:05:17.38 that they may serve me. For if thou refuse to let them go, 00:05:17.41\00:05:21.56 and wilt hold them still, Behold the hand of the Lord is upon 00:05:21.59\00:05:26.54 thy cattle which is in the field, upon the horses, 00:05:26.57\00:05:29.53 upon the asses, upon the camels, upon the oxen and upon the sheep 00:05:29.56\00:05:33.90 there shall be a very grievous murrain. And the Lord shall 00:05:33.93\00:05:38.90 sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: 00:05:38.93\00:05:41.86 and there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of 00:05:41.89\00:05:46.17 Israel. And the Lord appointed a set time, saying, Tomorrow 00:05:46.20\00:05:50.57 the Lord shall do this thing in the land. And the Lord did that 00:05:50.60\00:05:55.01 thing on the morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: 00:05:55.04\00:05:58.83 But of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one. 00:05:58.86\00:06:02.46 And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle 00:06:02.49\00:06:06.23 of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, 00:06:06.26\00:06:09.71 and he did not let the people go. And the Lord said to Moses 00:06:09.74\00:06:14.14 and unto Aaron, Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace 00:06:14.17\00:06:18.61 and let Moses sprinkle it toward the heaven in the sight 00:06:18.64\00:06:21.82 of Pharaoh. And it shall become small dust in all the land of 00:06:21.85\00:06:26.16 Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains 00:06:26.19\00:06:30.19 upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of 00:06:30.22\00:06:33.75 Egypt. And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before 00:06:33.78\00:06:37.44 Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became 00:06:37.47\00:06:41.51 a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast. 00:06:41.54\00:06:46.30 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of 00:06:46.33\00:06:50.05 the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all 00:06:50.08\00:06:53.52 the Egyptians. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, 00:06:53.55\00:06:57.53 and he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had spoken unto 00:06:57.56\00:07:01.31 Moses. And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the 00:07:01.34\00:07:05.81 morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, 00:07:05.84\00:07:08.38 Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, 00:07:08.41\00:07:11.34 that they may serve me. For I will at this time send all my 00:07:11.37\00:07:16.63 plagues upon thine heart, and upon they servants, and upon thy 00:07:16.66\00:07:19.88 people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me 00:07:19.91\00:07:23.42 in all the earth. For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may 00:07:23.45\00:07:28.94 smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be 00:07:28.97\00:07:32.84 cut off from the earth. And in very deed for this cause 00:07:32.87\00:07:37.02 have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; 00:07:37.05\00:07:41.19 and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. 00:07:41.22\00:07:45.01 As yet exaltest thou thyself against my people, 00:07:45.04\00:07:48.40 that thou wilt not let them go? Behold, tomorrow about this time 00:07:48.43\00:07:53.49 I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not 00:07:53.52\00:07:59.48 been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until 00:07:59.51\00:08:03.08 now. Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that 00:08:03.11\00:08:07.39 thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall 00:08:07.42\00:08:11.61 be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail 00:08:11.64\00:08:15.07 shall come down upon them, and they shall die. He that feared 00:08:15.10\00:08:20.03 the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh 00:08:20.06\00:08:22.56 made his servants and his cattle flee 00:08:22.59\00:08:25.38 into the houses: And he that regarded not 00:08:25.42\00:08:28.40 the word of the Lord left his servants and his cattle in the 00:08:28.43\00:08:31.49 field. And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand 00:08:31.52\00:08:35.24 toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, 00:08:35.27\00:08:39.10 upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, 00:08:39.13\00:08:43.22 throughout the land of Egypt. And Moses stretched forth 00:08:43.25\00:08:46.85 his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, 00:08:46.88\00:08:50.44 and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail 00:08:50.47\00:08:54.69 upon the land of Egypt. So there was hail, and fire mingled with 00:08:54.72\00:08:59.86 the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all 00:08:59.89\00:09:04.20 the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 00:09:04.23\00:09:06.27 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that 00:09:06.30\00:09:09.96 was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every 00:09:09.99\00:09:13.81 herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. 00:09:13.84\00:09:16.44 Only in the land of Goshen where the children of Israel were, 00:09:16.47\00:09:20.20 was there no hail. And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and 00:09:20.23\00:09:24.89 Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: 00:09:24.92\00:09:27.83 The Lord is righteous, and I and m people are wicked. Entreat the 00:09:27.86\00:09:32.19 Lord, for it is enough, that there be no more mighty 00:09:32.22\00:09:34.61 thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall 00:09:34.64\00:09:37.92 stay no longer. And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone 00:09:37.95\00:09:41.70 out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the Lord; 00:09:41.73\00:09:45.11 and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more 00:09:45.14\00:09:48.37 hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the Lord's. 00:09:48.40\00:09:52.29 But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will 00:09:52.32\00:09:55.59 not yet fear the Lord God. And the flax and the barley 00:09:55.62\00:09:59.37 was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was 00:09:59.40\00:10:02.02 bolled. But the wheat and the rye were not smitten: for they 00:10:02.05\00:10:05.59 were not grown up. And Moses went out of the city from 00:10:05.62\00:10:08.83 Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the Lord: 00:10:08.86\00:10:11.78 and the thunders and hail ceased and the rain was not poured upon 00:10:11.81\00:10:16.01 the earth. And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail 00:10:16.04\00:10:19.92 and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened 00:10:19.95\00:10:24.14 his heart, he and his servants. And the heart of Pharaoh 00:10:24.17\00:10:27.91 was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; 00:10:27.94\00:10:30.82 as the Lord had spoken by Moses. We're continuing to read 00:10:30.85\00:10:34.77 in the book of Exodus, chapter 10. 00:10:34.80\00:10:36.74 and this is the King James Version. 00:10:36.77\00:10:38.31 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have 00:10:38.34\00:10:42.99 hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, 00:10:43.02\00:10:45.69 that I might shew these my signs before him: And that thou mayest 00:10:45.72\00:10:51.09 tell in the ears of thy son, and of the son's son, what things 00:10:51.12\00:10:55.54 I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs I have done among them; 00:10:55.57\00:10:59.76 that ye may know how that I am the Lord. And Moses and Aaron, 00:10:59.79\00:11:05.27 came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord 00:11:05.30\00:11:08.93 God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble 00:11:08.96\00:11:12.51 thyself before me? Let my people go, that they may serve me. 00:11:12.54\00:11:16.83 Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow will 00:11:16.86\00:11:22.25 I bring the locusts into thy coast: And they shall cover the 00:11:22.28\00:11:26.16 face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: 00:11:26.19\00:11:29.63 and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, 00:11:29.66\00:11:33.59 which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every 00:11:33.62\00:11:36.53 tree which groweth for you out of the field: And they shall 00:11:36.56\00:11:40.16 fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the 00:11:40.19\00:11:43.08 houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, 00:11:43.11\00:11:45.86 not they fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they 00:11:45.89\00:11:49.53 were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, 00:11:49.56\00:11:53.10 and went out from Pharaoh. And Pharaoh's servants said 00:11:53.13\00:11:56.89 unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? 00:11:56.92\00:12:00.95 let the men go, that they may serve the Lord their God: 00:12:00.98\00:12:03.88 knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed? 00:12:03.91\00:12:06.90 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said 00:12:06.93\00:12:11.72 unto them, Go, serve the Lord your God: but who are they 00:12:11.75\00:12:16.45 that shall go? And Moses said, We will go with our young and 00:12:16.48\00:12:20.71 our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks 00:12:20.74\00:12:24.80 and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast 00:12:24.83\00:12:28.01 unto the Lord. And he said unto them, Let the Lord be so 00:12:28.04\00:12:32.77 with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it 00:12:32.80\00:12:36.65 for evil is before you. Not so: go now ye that are men, 00:12:36.68\00:12:41.92 and serve the Lord; for that ye did desire. 00:12:41.95\00:12:44.65 And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence. 00:12:44.68\00:12:47.23 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the 00:12:47.26\00:12:51.18 land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon 00:12:51.21\00:12:54.22 the land of Egypt and eat every herb of the land, even all that 00:12:54.25\00:12:58.36 the hail hath left. And Moses stretched forth his rod 00:12:58.39\00:13:02.16 over the land of Egypt, and the Lord brought an east wind upon 00:13:02.19\00:13:04.91 the land all that day, and all that night, and when it was 00:13:04.94\00:13:08.37 morning, the east wind brought the locusts. And the locusts 00:13:08.40\00:13:11.92 went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the 00:13:11.95\00:13:14.98 coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there 00:13:15.01\00:13:19.03 were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such 00:13:19.06\00:13:22.47 for they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land 00:13:22.50\00:13:25.48 was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all 00:13:25.51\00:13:29.25 the fruit of the trees which the hail had left and there remained 00:13:29.28\00:13:32.60 not any green thing in the trees or in the herbs of the field, 00:13:32.63\00:13:36.12 through all the land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh called for Moses 00:13:36.15\00:13:40.45 and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the 00:13:40.48\00:13:43.58 Lord your God, and against you. Now therefore forgive, I pray 00:13:43.61\00:13:47.69 thee, my sin only this once, and entreat the Lord your God, 00:13:47.72\00:13:51.49 that he may take away from me this death only. And he went out 00:13:51.52\00:13:56.59 from Pharaoh, and entreated the Lord. And the Lord turned a 00:13:56.62\00:13:59.60 mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast 00:13:59.63\00:14:04.02 them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust 00:14:04.05\00:14:07.76 in all the coasts of Egypt. But the Lord hardened Pharaoh's 00:14:07.79\00:14:12.42 heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go. 00:14:12.45\00:14:15.50 And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward 00:14:15.53\00:14:19.55 heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, 00:14:19.58\00:14:23.33 even darkness which may be felt. 00:14:23.36\00:14:25.94 We'll pick up the story again next time. Thank you for joining 00:14:25.97\00:14:29.61 with me. May God keep you and bless you until then. 00:14:29.64\00:14:32.88
