" 00:04:10.30\00:04:13.49 And she went to inquire of the Lord. 00:04:13.69\00:04:15.41 And the Lord said unto her, 00:04:15.62\00:04:17.16 "Two nations are in thy womb, 00:04:17.36\00:04:19.45 and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; 00:04:19.66\00:04:23.35 and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; 00:04:23.55\00:04:26.58 and the elder shall serve the younger. " 00:04:26.78\00:04:29.80 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, 00:04:30.00\00:04:33.11 behold, there were twins in her womb. 00:04:33.31\00:04:35.60 And the first came out red, all over like a hairy garment; 00:04:35.80\00:04:40.26 and they called his name Esau. 00:04:40.47\00:04:42.71 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold 00:04:42.91\00:04:46.97 on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob; 00:04:47.08\00:04:50.74 and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them. 00:04:50.94\00:04:55.04 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, 00:04:55.24\00:04:59.00 a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, 00:04:59.20\00:05:01.77 dwelling in tents. And Isaac loved Esau, 00:05:01.87\00:05:04.82 because he did eat of his venison: 00:05:05.02\00:05:07.12 but Rebekah loved Jacob. 00:05:07.32\00:05:09.38 And Jacob sod pottage: 00:05:09.58\00:05:11.68 and Esau came from the field, and he was faint: 00:05:11.89\00:05:14.15 And Esau said to Jacob, "Feed me, I pray thee, 00:05:14.25\00:05:16.69 with that same red pottage; for I am faint: " 00:05:16.79\00:05:18.95 therefore was his name called Edom. 00:05:19.15\00:05:21.62 And Jacob said, "Sell me this day thy birthright. " 00:05:21.82\00:05:26.62 And Esau said, "Behold, I am at the point to die: 00:05:26.82\00:05:30.31 and what profit shall this birthright do to me? " 00:05:30.51\00:05:32.44 And Jacob said, "Swear to me this day; " 00:05:32.64\00:05:34.60 and he sware unto him; and he sold his birthright unto Jacob. 00:05:34.80\00:05:38.37 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; 00:05:38.57\00:05:42.49 and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: 00:05:42.69\00:05:45.37 thus Esau despised his birthright. 00:05:45.57\00:05:49.02 Continuing to read in Genesis 00:05:49.22\00:05:51.46 chapter 26, and this is the 00:05:51.66\00:05:53.04 King James version. 00:05:53.14\00:05:54.47 And there was a famine in the land, 00:05:54.67\00:05:57.04 beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. 00:05:57.24\00:06:00.20 And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines 00:06:00.40\00:06:03.34 unto Gerar. And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, 00:06:03.44\00:06:06.31 "Go not down into Egypt; 00:06:06.52\00:06:08.02 dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: 00:06:08.22\00:06:10.72 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, 00:06:10.93\00:06:13.79 and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, 00:06:13.89\00:06:17.00 I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath 00:06:17.10\00:06:20.91 which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 00:06:21.01\00:06:23.45 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, 00:06:23.65\00:06:28.02 and will give unto thy seed all these countries; 00:06:28.22\00:06:30.94 and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 00:06:30.97\00:06:34.88 Because that Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, 00:06:35.08\00:06:39.00 My commandments, My statutes, and My laws. " 00:06:39.20\00:06:42.40 And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: 00:06:42.50\00:06:44.33 And the men of the place asked him of his wife; 00:06:44.53\00:06:46.33 and he said, "She is my sister: " for he feared to say, 00:06:46.43\00:06:49.24 "She is my wife; " lest, said he, 00:06:49.44\00:06:51.63 "the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; " 00:06:51.83\00:06:53.64 because she was fair to look upon. 00:06:53.84\00:06:55.83 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, 00:06:56.03\00:06:58.61 that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a 00:06:58.71\00:07:01.56 window and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with 00:07:01.60\00:07:04.42 Rebekah his wife. 00:07:04.45\00:07:05.72 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, 00:07:05.76\00:07:07.77 "Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: 00:07:07.97\00:07:10.57 and how saidst thou, She is my sister? " 00:07:10.77\00:07:12.93 And Isaac said unto him, 00:07:13.13\00:07:14.98 "Because I said, Lest I die for her. " 00:07:15.18\00:07:17.32 And Abimelech said, "What is this thou has done 00:07:17.52\00:07:20.28 unto us? one of the people might lightly have lain with thy wife, 00:07:20.38\00:07:23.89 and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us. " 00:07:24.09\00:07:26.55 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, 00:07:26.75\00:07:29.65 "He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely 00:07:29.85\00:07:32.51 be put to death. " Then Isaac sowed in that land, 00:07:32.61\00:07:36.12 and received in the same year a hundredfold: 00:07:36.22\00:07:38.62 and the Lord blessed him. 00:07:38.82\00:07:40.34 And the man waxed great, and went forward, 00:07:40.54\00:07:42.92 and grew until he became very great: 00:07:43.02\00:07:45.76 For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, 00:07:45.96\00:07:48.66 and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. 00:07:48.76\00:07:52.10 For all the wells which is father's servants had digged 00:07:52.30\00:07:54.81 in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had 00:07:54.91\00:07:57.46 stopped them, and filled them with earth. 00:07:57.56\00:07:59.17 And Abimelech said unto Isaac, 00:07:59.37\00:08:01.51 "Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we. " 00:08:01.71\00:08:04.75 And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the 00:08:04.95\00:08:08.48 valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. 00:08:08.58\00:08:10.58 And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged 00:08:10.78\00:08:14.80 in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had 00:08:14.90\00:08:18.42 stopped them after the death of Abraham: 00:08:18.52\00:08:20.26 and he called their names after the names by which his father 00:08:20.46\00:08:23.56 had called them. And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, 00:08:23.66\00:08:26.85 and found there a well of springing water. 00:08:26.95\00:08:29.39 And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, 00:08:29.59\00:08:33.47 saying, "The water is ours: " 00:08:33.67\00:08:35.02 and he called the name of the well Esek; 00:08:35.22\00:08:37.56 because they strove with him. 00:08:37.76\00:08:39.48 And they digged another well, and strove for that also: 00:08:39.68\00:08:42.68 and he called the name of it Sitnah. 00:08:42.78\00:08:45.36 And he removed from thence, and digged another well; 00:08:45.56\00:08:47.89 and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it 00:08:48.00\00:08:50.58 Rehoboth; and he said, 00:08:50.78\00:08:52.44 "For now the Lord hath made room for us, 00:08:52.64\00:08:54.65 and we shall be fruitful in the land. " 00:08:54.75\00:08:56.72 And he went up from thence to Beersheba. 00:08:56.92\00:09:00.07 And the Lord appeared unto him the same night, and said, 00:09:00.27\00:09:03.38 "I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, 00:09:03.59\00:09:07.56 for I am with thee, and will bless thee, 00:09:07.76\00:09:10.39 and multiply thy seed for My servant Abraham's sake. " 00:09:10.60\00:09:14.17 And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the 00:09:14.37\00:09:17.56 Lord, and pitched his tent there: 00:09:17.67\00:09:19.92 and there Isaac's servants digged a well. 00:09:20.13\00:09:23.46 Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, 00:09:23.49\00:09:26.16 and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain 00:09:26.26\00:09:29.74 of his army. And Isaac said unto them, 00:09:29.84\00:09:31.64 "Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, 00:09:31.84\00:09:34.45 and have sent me away from you? " 00:09:34.55\00:09:35.84 And they said, "We saw certainly that the Lord was with thee: " 00:09:36.04\00:09:40.34 and we said, "Let there be now an oath betwixt us, 00:09:40.54\00:09:42.99 even betwixt us and thee, 00:09:43.19\00:09:44.58 and let us make a covenant with thee; 00:09:44.68\00:09:46.42 That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, 00:09:46.62\00:09:49.92 and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, 00:09:50.12\00:09:52.46 and have sent thee away in peace: 00:09:52.56\00:09:53.93 thou art now the blessed of the Lord. " 00:09:54.03\00:09:56.43 And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink. 00:09:56.63\00:10:00.12 And they rose up betimes in the morning, 00:10:00.32\00:10:02.93 and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, 00:10:03.13\00:10:05.92 and they departed from him in peace. 00:10:06.02\00:10:08.09 And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came, 00:10:08.30\00:10:11.78 and told him concerning the well which they had digged, 00:10:11.88\00:10:14.39 and said unto him, "We have found water. " 00:10:14.59\00:10:16.85 And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city 00:10:17.05\00:10:20.89 is Beersheba unto this day. 00:10:20.99\00:10:23.13 And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith 00:10:23.43\00:10:28.81 the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, 00:10:28.92\00:10:31.27 and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite: 00:10:31.47\00:10:34.32 Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah. 00:10:34.53\00:10:38.26 We are reading in Genesis, 00:10:38.46\00:10:40.30 and we are continuing now with 00:10:40.40\00:10:41.46 chapter 27, and this is the 00:10:41.56\00:10:42.98 King James version. 00:10:43.08\00:10:44.53 And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, 00:10:44.73\00:10:47.69 and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, 00:10:47.79\00:10:50.33 he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, 00:10:50.54\00:10:53.65 "My son: " and he said unto him, 00:10:53.85\00:10:56.19 "Behold, here am I.
