Hi and welcome to His Words Are Life. 00:00:16.48\00:00:19.25 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and we're 00:00:19.45\00:00:20.93 going to continue reading today 00:00:21.03\00:00:22.63 from the book of Genesis. 00:00:22.73\00:00:23.94 But before we read together, let's pray. 00:00:24.14\00:00:26.27 Dear God, thank you so much for this opportunity 00:00:26.67\00:00:31.15 that we have right now to come apart and... 00:00:31.25\00:00:34.06 and spend a few minutes in Your presence reading from Your Word. 00:00:34.27\00:00:37.88 Please come very close to us as we read. 00:00:38.08\00:00:40.62 and guide our minds into a deeper understanding 00:00:40.73\00:00:43.93 so that we can walk more closely with You. 00:00:44.03\00:00:46.36 Thank you for this opportunity, and thank you for loving us. 00:00:46.57\00:00:50.32 We love You so much, Amen. 00:00:50.52\00:00:52.17 When we were reading together last, we were reading the story 00:00:53.33\00:00:56.05 of Noah - who in a world full of sin and corruption 00:00:56.15\00:00:59.65 of every kind - remained righteous and close to God. 00:00:59.75\00:01:03.20 The Bible says he found grace in the eyes of the Lord. 00:01:03.40\00:01:06.30 And God instructed Noah to build an ark 00:01:06.50\00:01:08.65 because He was going to send the flood to destroy the 00:01:08.75\00:01:13.85 wickedness in the earth. 00:01:13.95\00:01:15.09 We pick up the story in chapter 7 and verse 22. 00:01:15.29\00:01:18.96 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, 00:01:19.26\00:01:23.42 of all that was in the dry land, died. 00:01:23.62\00:01:26.97 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the 00:01:27.17\00:01:30.47 face of the ground, both man, and cattle, 00:01:30.57\00:01:33.95 and creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; 00:01:34.05\00:01:36.19 and they were destroyed from the earth: 00:01:36.39\00:01:38.46 and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him 00:01:38.66\00:01:42.80 in the ark. And the waters prevailed upon the earth 00:01:42.90\00:01:45.75 a hundred and fifty days. 00:01:45.85\00:01:48.00 Continuing now with chapter 8 in Genesis. 00:01:48.20\00:01:50.77 And this is the King James version. 00:01:50.97\00:01:52.29 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, 00:01:52.49\00:01:56.22 and all the cattle that was with him in the ark; 00:01:56.43\00:01:58.46 and God made a wind to pass over the earth, 00:01:58.56\00:02:01.35 and the waters assuaged; 00:02:01.55\00:02:03.56 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven 00:02:03.76\00:02:06.67 were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; 00:02:06.77\00:02:09.19 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: 00:02:09.39\00:02:12.59 and after the end of the hundred and fifty days 00:02:12.69\00:02:14.60 the waters were abated. And the ark rested in the seventh month, 00:02:14.71\00:02:19.87 on the seventeenth day of the month, 00:02:20.07\00:02:21.82 upon the mountains of Ararat. 00:02:22.02\00:02:24.29 And the waters decreased con- tinually until the tenth month: 00:02:24.49\00:02:28.22 in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, 00:02:28.42\00:02:31.18 were the tops of the mountains seen. 00:02:31.38\00:02:33.80 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, 00:02:34.00\00:02:36.87 that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: 00:02:37.07\00:02:40.66 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, 00:02:40.86\00:02:44.53 until the waters were dried up from off the earth. 00:02:44.73\00:02:47.49 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters 00:02:47.69\00:02:51.01 were abated from off the face of the ground; 00:02:51.12\00:02:53.01 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, 00:02:53.21\00:02:55.99 and she returned unto him into the ark, 00:02:56.09\00:02:58.35 for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: 00:02:58.55\00:03:00.76 then he put forth his hand, and took her, 00:03:00.96\00:03:02.45 and pulled her in unto him into the ark. 00:03:02.55\00:03:05.05 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth 00:03:05.25\00:03:10.00 the dove out of the ark; 00:03:10.10\00:03:11.37 And the dove came in to him in the evening; 00:03:11.57\00:03:13.64 and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: 00:03:13.67\00:03:17.97 so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. 00:03:18.17\00:03:22.10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; 00:03:22.30\00:03:26.48 which returned not again unto him any more. 00:03:26.58\00:03:28.86 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, 00:03:29.06\00:03:32.62 in the first month, the first day of the month, 00:03:32.82\00:03:35.18 the waters were dried up from off the earth: 00:03:35.38\00:03:37.73 and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, 00:03:37.93\00:03:41.22 and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. 00:03:41.42\00:03:45.01 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day 00:03:45.21\00:03:48.57 of the month, was the earth dried. 00:03:48.67\00:03:50.53 And God spake unto Noah, saying, 00:03:50.73\00:03:52.98 "Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, 00:03:53.18\00:03:56.32 and thy sons, and thy son's wives with thee. 00:03:56.42\00:03:58.92 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, 00:03:59.12\00:04:02.86 of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, 00:04:03.06\00:04:05.65 and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; 00:04:05.75\00:04:08.46 that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, 00:04:08.66\00:04:12.77 and multiply upon the earth. 00:04:12.97\00:04:15.06 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, 00:04:15.46\00:04:20.19 and his sons' wives with him: 00:04:20.39\00:04:21.85 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, 00:04:22.06\00:04:25.59 and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, 00:04:25.69\00:04:28.56 went forth out of the ark. 00:04:28.66\00:04:30.43 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; 00:04:30.63\00:04:33.20 and took of every clean beast, 00:04:33.40\00:04:35.17 and of every clean fowl, 00:04:35.37\00:04:36.82 and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 00:04:37.02\00:04:39.54 And the Lord smelled a sweet savor; and the Lord said 00:04:39.74\00:04:43.43 in His heart, "I will not again curse the ground any more 00:04:43.53\00:04:47.08 for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart 00:04:47.18\00:04:50.43 is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more 00:04:50.53\00:04:55.18 every thing living, as I have done. 00:04:55.28\00:04:57.44 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, 00:04:57.64\00:05:00.66 and cold and heat, and summer and winter, 00:05:00.86\00:05:03.05 and day and night shall not cease. " 00:05:03.25\00:05:06.09 We are starting with chapter 9 in the book of Genesis. 00:05:06.29\00:05:09.35 This is the King James version. 00:05:09.55\00:05:11.23 And God blessed Noah and his 00:05:11.43\00:05:13.72 sons, and said unto them, 00:05:13.82\00:05:14.93 "Be fruitful, and multiply, 00:05:15.03\00:05:16.36 and replenish the earth. 00:05:16.46\00:05:17.82 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon 00:05:18.02\00:05:21.15 every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, 00:05:21.25\00:05:24.16 upon all the moveth upon the earth, 00:05:24.36\00:05:26.60 and upon all the fishes of the sea; 00:05:26.70\00:05:28.18 into your hand are they delivered. 00:05:28.38\00:05:30.75 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; 00:05:30.95\00:05:34.98 even as the green herb have I given you all things. 00:05:35.19\00:05:38.46 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, 00:05:38.66\00:05:42.80 shall ye not eat. 00:05:43.00\00:05:44.44 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; 00:05:44.64\00:05:48.45 at the hand of every beast will I require it, 00:05:48.65\00:05:51.25 and at the hand of man: at the hand of every man's 00:05:51.35\00:05:54.23 brother will I require the life of man. 00:05:54.33\00:05:56.95 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: 00:05:57.15\00:06:02.32 for in the image of God made He man. 00:06:02.53\00:06:05.41 And you, be ye fruitful, and multiply; 00:06:05.44\00:06:08.98 bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein. " 00:06:09.18\00:06:12.54 And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying, 00:06:12.84\00:06:17.27 "And I, behold, I establish My covenant with you, 00:06:17.47\00:06:22.00 and with your seed after you; 00:06:22.10\00:06:23.86 And with every living creature that is with you, 00:06:24.06\00:06:26.82 of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth 00:06:27.02\00:06:30.26 with you; from all that go out of the ark, 00:06:30.37\00:06:32.57 to every beast of the earth. 00:06:32.77\00:06:34.13 And I will establish My covenant with you; 00:06:34.23\00:06:36.98 neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters 00:06:37.18\00:06:41.88 of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood 00:06:41.98\00:06:45.70 to destroy the earth. " 00:06:45.80\00:06:47.52 And God said, "This is the token of the covenant which I make 00:06:47.72\00:06:52.40 between Me and you and every living creature 00:06:52.50\00:06:55.94 that is with you, for perpetual generations: 00:06:56.05\00:06:58.92 I do set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token 00:06:59.12\00:07:03.70 of a covenant between Me and the earth. 00:07:03.80\00:07:05.89 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the 00:07:06.09\00:07:09.17 earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: 00:07:09.27\00:07:11.99 And I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you 00:07:12.19\00:07:15.62 and every living creature of all flesh; 00:07:15.72\00:07:17.44 and the waters shall no more become a flood 00:07:17.64\00:07:20.19 to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; 00:07:20.39\00:07:24.92 and I will look upon it, that I may remember 00:07:25.12\00:07:28.01 the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature 00:07:28.11\00:07:31.65 of all flesh that is upon the earth. " 00:07:31.76\00:07:34.23 And God said unto Noah, 00:07:34.53\00:07:36.57 "This is the token of the covenant, which I have 00:07:36.77\00:07:38.73 established between Me and all flesh that is upon the earth. " 00:07:38.83\00:07:42.08 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, 00:07:42.28\00:07:45.34 were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan. 00:07:45.54\00:07:49.95 These are the three sons of Noah: 00:07:50.16\00:07:52.78 and of them was the whole earth overspread. 00:07:52.98\00:07:56.18 And Noah began to be a husbandman, 00:07:56.38\00:07:58.91 and he planted a vineyard: 00:07:59.11\00:08:00.32 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; 00:08:00.52\00:08:02.91 and he was uncovered within his tent. 00:08:03.11\00:08:05.43 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, 00:08:05.63\00:08:10.62 and told his two brethren without. 00:08:10.72\00:08:12.22 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, 00:08:12.32\00:08:14.09 and laid it upon both their shoulders and went backward, 00:08:14.19\00:08:17.16 and covered the nakedness of their father; 00:08:17.36\00:08:18.91 and their faces were backward, 00:08:19.11\00:08:20.59 and they saw not their father's nakedness. 00:08:20.79\00:08:23.73 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son 00:08:23.93\00:08:28.31 had done unto him. And he said, 00:08:28.41\00:08:31.01 "Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be 00:08:31.11\00:08:34.94 unto his brethren. " 00:08:35.04\00:08:36.15 And he said, "Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; 00:08:36.35\00:08:39.29 and Canaan shall be his servant. 00:08:39.50\00:08:41.62 And God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents 00:08:41.82\00:08:45.70 of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant. " 00:08:45.80\00:08:49.34 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. 00:08:49.54\00:08:53.15 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: 00:08:53.35\00:08:57.51 and he died. 00:08:57.71\00:08:59.21 We are reading in Genesis chapter 10. 00:08:59.41\00:09:01.79 And as I am looking here at chapter 10, I see there is 00:09:01.99\00:09:04.90 a lot of genealogy here, 00:09:05.00\00:09:06.67 and you probably could read those names and pronounce them 00:09:06.77\00:09:08.65 better than I could anyway. So let's skip on down 00:09:08.76\00:09:11.24 to chapter... Well let's read the last verse of chapter 10. 00:09:11.34\00:09:16.12 It will be verse 32. It says: 00:09:16.15\00:09:17.51 These are the families of the sons of Noah, 00:09:17.71\00:09:19.74 after their generations, in their nations: 00:09:19.95\00:09:22.39 and by these were the nations divided in the earth 00:09:22.59\00:09:25.20 after the flood. 00:09:25.30\00:09:26.78 And now we'll continue with Genesis in chapter 11. 00:09:26.98\00:09:29.31 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 00:09:29.61\00:09:34.02 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, 00:09:34.22\00:09:37.25 that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; 00:09:37.45\00:09:40.12 and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, 00:09:40.23\00:09:42.99 "Go, to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. " 00:09:43.20\00:09:46.91 And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for mortar. 00:09:47.11\00:09:50.46 And they said, "Go, to, let us build us a city and a tower, 00:09:50.66\00:09:55.35 whose top may reach unto heaven; 00:09:55.56\00:09:58.02 and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad 00:09:58.22\00:10:01.31 upon the face of the whole earth. " 00:10:01.41\00:10:02.97 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, 00:10:03.17\00:10:06.93 which the children of men builded. 00:10:07.13\00:10:08.78 And the Lord said, "Behold, the people is one, 00:10:08.98\00:10:13.21 and they have all one language; 00:10:13.31\00:10:15.35 and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be 00:10:15.55\00:10:19.03 restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 00:10:19.13\00:10:21.93 Go to, let Us go down, and there confound their language, 00:10:22.13\00:10:27.26 that they may not understand one another's speech. " 00:10:27.46\00:10:30.85 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; 00:10:32.29\00:10:34.88 because the Lord did there confound the language 00:10:35.08\00:10:37.68 of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them 00:10:37.78\00:10:40.55 abroad upon the face of all the earth. 00:10:40.65\00:10:42.60 These are the generations of Shem: 00:10:42.80\00:10:45.53 and again, rather than reading names that you probably can 00:10:45.73\00:10:48.60 pronounce better than I can, let's skip through all of 00:10:48.70\00:10:50.71 Shem's generations and turn over to Genesis chapter 11 00:10:50.81\00:10:55.15 and let's pick it up in... in verse 27. 00:10:55.25\00:10:58.31 Now these are the generations of Terah: 00:10:58.52\00:11:02.32 Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot. 00:11:02.52\00:11:06.89 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his 00:11:07.10\00:11:10.36 nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees. 00:11:10.46\00:11:12.41 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: 00:11:12.61\00:11:15.00 the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; 00:11:15.20\00:11:17.28 and the name of Nahor's wife Milcah, the daughter of Haran, 00:11:17.48\00:11:20.27 the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah. 00:11:20.47\00:11:22.57 But Sarai was barren; she had no child. 00:11:22.77\00:11:26.05 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran 00:11:26.25\00:11:30.47 his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, 00:11:30.57\00:11:33.64 his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur 00:11:33.85\00:11:37.44 of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; 00:11:37.54\00:11:40.02 and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there. 00:11:40.22\00:11:42.54 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: 00:11:42.74\00:11:46.46 and Terah died in Haran. 00:11:46.66\00:11:48.86 Reading in Genesis chapter 12, 00:11:49.06\00:11:51.48 and this is the King James version. 00:11:51.58\00:11:53.09 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, 00:11:53.29\00:11:55.91 "Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, 00:11:56.11\00:11:59.11 and from thy father's house, 00:11:59.21\00:12:00.62 unto a land that I will show thee: 00:12:00.83\00:12:03.69 And I will make of thee a great nation, 00:12:03.89\00:12:06.79 and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; 00:12:06.99\00:12:09.51 and thou shalt be a blessing: 00:12:09.54\00:12:11.78 And I will bless them that bless thee, 00:12:11.98\00:12:14.33 and curse him that curseth thee: 00:12:14.53\00:12:16.51 and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. " 00:12:16.71\00:12:21.08 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; 00:12:21.29\00:12:24.89 and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy and five years old 00:12:25.09\00:12:29.69 when he departed out of Haran. 00:12:29.79\00:12:31.41 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, 00:12:31.61\00:12:35.98 and all their substance that they had gathered, 00:12:36.08\00:12:38.40 and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; 00:12:38.60\00:12:41.19 and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; 00:12:41.29\00:12:43.75 and into the land of Canaan they came. 00:12:43.96\00:12:46.31 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, 00:12:46.51\00:12:50.32 unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. 00:12:50.52\00:12:54.81 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, 00:12:55.01\00:12:57.48 "Unto thy seed will I give this land: 00:12:57.68\00:13:00.27 and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, 00:13:00.48\00:13:03.42 who appeared unto him. 00:13:03.62\00:13:04.99 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel 00:13:05.19\00:13:09.63 and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, 00:13:09.73\00:13:12.49 and Haion on the east: and there he builded an altar 00:13:12.69\00:13:16.42 unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord. 00:13:16.52\00:13:19.15 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south. 00:13:19.35\00:13:23.69 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down 00:13:23.89\00:13:27.11 into Egypt to sojourn there; 00:13:27.21\00:13:29.22 for the famine was grievous in the land. 00:13:29.32\00:13:31.08 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, 00:13:31.28\00:13:35.80 that he said unto Sarai his wife, "Behold now, 00:13:35.90\00:13:40.37 I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: 00:13:40.57\00:13:43.44 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall 00:13:43.64\00:13:46.77 see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: 00:13:46.87\00:13:49.81 and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. 00:13:50.01\00:13:52.80 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well 00:13:53.00\00:13:58.25 with me for thy sake; 00:13:58.35\00:13:59.68 and my soul shall live because of thee. " 00:13:59.88\00:14:02.44 And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, 00:14:02.64\00:14:06.33 the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair, 00:14:06.53\00:14:09.46 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her 00:14:09.66\00:14:12.82 before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. 00:14:12.92\00:14:16.38 And he entreated Abram well for her sake: 00:14:16.58\00:14:19.16 and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, 00:14:19.37\00:14:21.93 and menservants, and maidservants, 00:14:22.03\00:14:23.44 and she asses, and camels. 00:14:23.64\00:14:25.13 And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house 00:14:25.34\00:14:28.27 with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife. 00:14:28.37\00:14:32.19 Please join me again next time. Goodbye. 00:14:32.39\00:14:35.12
