Hi, and welcome back to His Words Are Life. 00:00:17.06\00:00:19.63 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we're reading from the 00:00:19.66\00:00:21.44 book of Titus. 00:00:21.47\00:00:22.51 But before we start let's pray together. 00:00:22.54\00:00:25.23 Dear God, You have promised us that Your word will be a lamp 00:00:25.26\00:00:31.43 to our feet, will be a light on our path. 00:00:31.46\00:00:33.54 And we need that so desperately. 00:00:33.57\00:00:36.18 We're surrounded by people that would deceive us. 00:00:36.21\00:00:40.48 We're surrounded by an enemy that wants us walking in 00:00:40.51\00:00:43.68 darkness, thinking we're walking in the light. 00:00:43.71\00:00:46.30 But we know that if we will follow You; if we will hear Your 00:00:46.33\00:00:50.11 word, You've promised to lead us into all truth, and that Your 00:00:50.14\00:00:53.03 word is truth. 00:00:53.06\00:00:54.25 So please send Your Holy Spirit right now to be with us, 00:00:54.28\00:00:57.08 and to guide us, and to plant these words deep in our lives. 00:00:57.11\00:01:01.12 Thank you so much for loving us. 00:01:01.15\00:01:03.05 We love you so much, too. 00:01:03.08\00:01:04.46 Amen. 00:01:04.49\00:01:05.57 Again, we're reading in the book of Titus, chapter 2, starting 00:01:05.60\00:01:10.79 with verse 9. 00:01:10.82\00:01:11.79 And this is the King James Version. 00:01:11.80\00:01:13.57 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, 00:01:13.60\00:01:18.84 and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 00:01:18.87\00:01:23.35 not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may 00:01:23.38\00:01:28.03 adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. 00:01:28.06\00:01:31.46 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared 00:01:31.49\00:01:34.84 to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly 00:01:34.87\00:01:39.89 lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, 00:01:39.92\00:01:43.80 in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, 00:01:43.83\00:01:47.61 and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior 00:01:47.64\00:01:50.86 Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us 00:01:50.89\00:01:55.29 from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, 00:01:55.32\00:02:00.27 zealous of good works. 00:02:00.30\00:02:02.15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. 00:02:02.18\00:02:07.69 Let no man despise thee. 00:02:07.72\00:02:10.39 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, 00:02:14.83\00:02:19.88 to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, to speak 00:02:19.91\00:02:25.27 evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, showing 00:02:25.30\00:02:30.99 all meekness unto all men. 00:02:31.02\00:02:33.15 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, 00:02:33.18\00:02:38.26 deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice 00:02:38.29\00:02:44.14 and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 00:02:44.17\00:02:47.48 But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward 00:02:47.51\00:02:52.29 man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have 00:02:52.32\00:02:56.06 done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of 00:02:56.09\00:03:05.85 regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on 00:03:05.88\00:03:10.40 us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; that being 00:03:10.43\00:03:14.82 justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according 00:03:14.85\00:03:18.75 to the hope of eternal life. 00:03:18.78\00:03:20.51 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou 00:03:20.54\00:03:24.98 affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God 00:03:25.01\00:03:29.29 might be careful to maintain good works. 00:03:29.32\00:03:32.00 These things are good and profitable unto men. 00:03:32.03\00:03:35.51 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, 00:03:35.54\00:03:40.57 and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 00:03:40.60\00:03:45.81 A man that is an heretic, after the first and second admonition, 00:03:45.84\00:03:50.51 reject; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, 00:03:50.54\00:03:56.70 being condemned of himself. 00:03:56.73\00:03:59.31 When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent 00:03:59.34\00:04:04.90 to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined 00:04:04.93\00:04:07.80 there to winter. 00:04:07.83\00:04:08.92 Bring Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey 00:04:08.95\00:04:12.59 diligently, that nothing be wanting unto them. 00:04:12.62\00:04:15.26 And let ours also learn to maintain good works 00:04:15.29\00:04:19.86 for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful. 00:04:19.89\00:04:23.64 All that are with me salute thee. 00:04:23.67\00:04:26.75 Greet them that love us in the faith. 00:04:26.78\00:04:29.26 Grace be with you all. 00:04:29.29\00:04:31.33 Amen. 00:04:31.36\00:04:32.45 (Continuing now, the epistle of Paul the Apostle, 00:04:32.48\00:04:37.17 to Philemon.) 00:04:37.20\00:04:38.44 Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, 00:04:38.47\00:04:43.84 unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellow laborer, 00:04:43.87\00:04:48.04 and to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow soldier, 00:04:48.07\00:04:52.13 and to the church in thy house: grace to you, and peace, 00:04:52.16\00:04:55.76 from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:04:55.79\00:04:58.73 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, 00:04:58.76\00:05:03.73 hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the 00:05:03.76\00:05:07.65 Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; that the communication 00:05:07.68\00:05:11.58 of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging 00:05:11.61\00:05:14.97 of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. 00:05:15.00\00:05:18.45 For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, 00:05:18.48\00:05:22.48 because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother. 00:05:22.51\00:05:26.72 Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin 00:05:26.75\00:05:31.12 thee that which is convenient, yet for love's sake I rather 00:05:31.15\00:05:35.65 beseech thee being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also 00:05:35.68\00:05:40.87 a prisoner of Jesus Christ. 00:05:40.90\00:05:42.68 I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten 00:05:42.71\00:05:47.73 in my bonds: which in time past was to thee unprofitable, 00:05:47.76\00:05:52.01 but now profitable to thee and to me: whom I have sent again: 00:05:52.04\00:05:58.48 thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels: whom I 00:05:58.51\00:06:05.47 would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have 00:06:05.50\00:06:09.11 ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel: but without thy 00:06:09.14\00:06:13.38 mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it 00:06:13.41\00:06:17.88 were of necessity, but willingly. 00:06:17.91\00:06:21.32 For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, 00:06:21.35\00:06:24.92 that thou shouldest receive him forever; not now as a servant, 00:06:24.95\00:06:29.80 but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, 00:06:29.83\00:06:34.75 but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, 00:06:34.78\00:06:37.86 and in the Lord? 00:06:37.89\00:06:38.86 If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself. 00:06:38.87\00:06:44.47 If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee aught, put that on 00:06:44.50\00:06:49.00 mine account; I Paul have written it with mine own hand, 00:06:49.03\00:06:53.17 I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest 00:06:53.20\00:06:57.70 unto me even thine own self besides. 00:06:57.73\00:07:00.16 Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my 00:07:00.19\00:07:05.24 bowels in the Lord. 00:07:05.27\00:07:06.27 Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, 00:07:06.30\00:07:10.14 knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say. 00:07:10.17\00:07:13.79 But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that 00:07:13.82\00:07:19.37 through your prayers I shall be given unto you. 00:07:19.40\00:07:21.97 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus; 00:07:22.00\00:07:27.75 Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellow-laborers. 00:07:27.78\00:07:34.08 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. 00:07:34.11\00:07:37.69 Amen. 00:07:37.72\00:07:38.86 (Continuing now with the epistle to the Hebrews, Chapter 1, 00:07:38.89\00:07:44.10 and this is the King James Version.) 00:07:44.13\00:07:45.61 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time 00:07:45.64\00:07:51.76 past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last 00:07:51.79\00:07:56.04 days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of 00:07:56.07\00:08:01.26 all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the 00:08:01.29\00:08:06.77 brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, 00:08:06.80\00:08:10.46 and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had 00:08:10.49\00:08:15.38 by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the 00:08:15.41\00:08:20.34 Majesty on high; being made so much better than the angels, 00:08:20.37\00:08:24.79 as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent 00:08:24.82\00:08:28.29 name than they. 00:08:28.32\00:08:29.43 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my 00:08:29.46\00:08:34.89 Son, this day have I begotten thee? 00:08:34.92\00:08:37.54 And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be 00:08:37.57\00:08:41.59 to me a Son? 00:08:41.62\00:08:42.85 And again, when he bringeth in the first-begotten into the 00:08:42.88\00:08:47.11 world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. 00:08:47.14\00:08:51.40 And of the angels he saith, who maketh his angels spirits, 00:08:51.43\00:08:56.32 and his ministers a flame of fire. 00:08:56.35\00:08:58.60 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever 00:08:58.63\00:09:03.97 and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter 00:09:04.00\00:09:07.97 of thy kingdom. 00:09:08.00\00:09:09.04 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore 00:09:09.07\00:09:15.07 God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness 00:09:15.10\00:09:20.76 above thy fellows. 00:09:20.79\00:09:22.74 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the 00:09:22.77\00:09:25.94 foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works 00:09:25.97\00:09:28.43 of thine hands: they shall perish, but thou remainest: 00:09:28.46\00:09:33.89 and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; and as a vesture 00:09:33.92\00:09:37.81 shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: 00:09:37.84\00:09:40.47 but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. 00:09:40.50\00:09:45.52 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right 00:09:45.55\00:09:50.37 hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 00:09:50.40\00:09:52.96 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister 00:09:52.99\00:09:58.98 for them who shall be heirs of salvation? 00:09:59.01\00:10:01.95 (We're reading from the book of Hebrews, in the King James 00:10:01.98\00:10:04.96 Version, Chapter 2.) 00:10:04.99\00:10:06.75 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things 00:10:06.78\00:10:12.21 which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 00:10:12.24\00:10:16.16 For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every 00:10:16.19\00:10:20.28 transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of 00:10:20.31\00:10:23.90 reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; 00:10:23.93\00:10:29.40 which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was 00:10:29.43\00:10:33.49 confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them 00:10:33.52\00:10:38.79 witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers 00:10:38.82\00:10:41.56 miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, 00:10:41.59\00:10:43.96 according to his own will? 00:10:43.99\00:10:45.18 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to 00:10:45.21\00:10:49.58 come, whereof we speak. 00:10:49.61\00:10:51.21 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man, 00:10:51.24\00:10:56.66 that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, 00:10:56.69\00:10:59.60 that thou visitest him? 00:10:59.63\00:11:01.13 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst 00:11:01.16\00:11:05.30 him with glory and honor, and didst set him over the works of 00:11:05.33\00:11:08.29 thy hands: thou hast put all things in subjection 00:11:08.32\00:11:11.70 under his feet. 00:11:11.73\00:11:12.70 For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left 00:11:12.71\00:11:17.75 nothing that is not put under him. 00:11:17.78\00:11:19.91 But now we see not yet all things put under him. 00:11:19.94\00:11:24.05 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels 00:11:24.08\00:11:28.20 for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; 00:11:28.23\00:11:32.28 that he by the grace of God should taste death 00:11:32.31\00:11:35.80 for every man. 00:11:35.83\00:11:36.80 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all 00:11:36.81\00:11:42.64 things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain 00:11:42.67\00:11:47.40 of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 00:11:47.43\00:11:50.68 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all 00:11:50.71\00:11:56.74 of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to 00:11:56.77\00:12:00.44 call them brethren, saying, I will declare thy name unto my 00:12:00.47\00:12:05.00 brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing 00:12:05.03\00:12:07.60 praise unto thee. 00:12:07.63\00:12:08.61 And again, I will put my trust in him. 00:12:08.64\00:12:12.63 And again, Behold I and the children which God 00:12:12.66\00:12:16.74 hath given me. 00:12:16.77\00:12:17.74 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and 00:12:17.75\00:12:20.97 blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; 00:12:21.00\00:12:25.04 that through death he might destroy him that had the power 00:12:25.07\00:12:29.04 of death, that is, the devil; and deliver them who through 00:12:29.07\00:12:34.00 fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 00:12:34.03\00:12:38.64 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; 00:12:38.67\00:12:42.25 but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 00:12:42.28\00:12:45.68 Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like 00:12:45.71\00:12:50.36 unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful 00:12:50.39\00:12:55.27 high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation 00:12:55.30\00:13:00.23 for the sins of the people. 00:13:00.26\00:13:01.90 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, 00:13:01.93\00:13:05.94 he is able to succor them that are tempted. 00:13:05.97\00:13:09.30 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly 00:13:12.87\00:13:17.07 calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our 00:13:17.10\00:13:20.61 profession, Christ Jesus; who was faithful to him that 00:13:20.64\00:13:24.41 appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. 00:13:24.44\00:13:29.20 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, 00:13:29.23\00:13:33.08 inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honor 00:13:33.11\00:13:36.91 than the house. 00:13:36.94\00:13:37.91 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built 00:13:37.93\00:13:42.63 all things is God. 00:13:42.66\00:13:44.74 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, 00:13:44.77\00:13:49.34 for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; 00:13:49.37\00:13:53.24 but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, 00:13:53.27\00:13:59.01 if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope 00:13:59.04\00:14:02.41 firm unto the end. 00:14:02.44\00:14:04.34 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear his 00:14:04.37\00:14:10.04 voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, 00:14:10.07\00:14:13.96 in the day of temptation in the wilderness: when your fathers 00:14:13.99\00:14:17.63 tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 00:14:17.66\00:14:21.19 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, 00:14:21.22\00:14:24.82 They do always err in their hearts; and they have not 00:14:24.85\00:14:28.65 known my ways. 00:14:28.68\00:14:30.51 Please join again with me next time to read the word of God. 00:14:30.54\00:14:34.51
