Hello, and welcome to His Words Are Life. 00:00:17.02\00:00:18.29 I'm Kelly Mowrer and I'll be reading today 00:00:18.32\00:00:20.70 from the King James Version, sometimes, we talk about the 00:00:20.73\00:00:25.46 word and hearing the word of the Lord and letting it take root 00:00:25.49\00:00:28.09 in our hearts, and today, Jesus tells what the person is like 00:00:28.12\00:00:32.39 who actually does hear the word, and do the word. 00:00:32.42\00:00:34.84 We're going to read that coming up here but before we begin 00:00:34.87\00:00:37.68 to read let's go to God in prayer. - Dear Heavenly Father, 00:00:37.71\00:00:41.46 thank you so much for the blessings 00:00:41.49\00:00:43.54 that you have given to us, for bringing us safely to this 00:00:43.57\00:00:46.88 point where we can come into your presence and read your word 00:00:46.91\00:00:49.83 and we want to be not just hearers of the word, 00:00:49.86\00:00:53.46 but doers of the word. We want to be the wise man who builds 00:00:53.49\00:00:56.89 his house on the rock, the solid rock of your word of life. 00:00:56.92\00:01:00.69 Be with us now and thank you again. We love you. Amen 00:01:00.72\00:01:04.81 I'm reading today from the book of Luke, starting in chapter 6 00:01:04.84\00:01:10.01 and verse 45. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart, 00:01:10.04\00:01:17.73 bringeth forth that which is good. 00:01:17.76\00:01:19.93 And an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart, 00:01:19.96\00:01:24.28 bringeth forth that which is evil. For the abundance of 00:01:24.31\00:01:28.39 the heart his mouth speaketh. And why call ye me Lord, Lord, 00:01:28.42\00:01:33.69 and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me 00:01:33.72\00:01:39.19 and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to 00:01:39.22\00:01:43.82 whom he is like: He like a man which built an house, and digged 00:01:43.85\00:01:47.38 deep and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose 00:01:47.41\00:01:51.74 the stream beat vehemently upon that house and could not shake 00:01:51.77\00:01:55.82 it, for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, 00:01:55.85\00:02:00.16 and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation 00:02:00.19\00:02:03.98 built an house upon the earth: against which the stream 00:02:04.01\00:02:08.54 did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; 00:02:08.57\00:02:11.85 and the ruin of that house was great. 00:02:11.88\00:02:14.72 Again, I'm reading from the gospel of Luke, 00:02:14.75\00:02:17.58 and we're now on chapter 7. Now when he had ended all 00:02:17.61\00:02:22.00 his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into 00:02:22.03\00:02:25.50 Capernaum. And a certain centurion's servant, 00:02:25.53\00:02:28.31 who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 00:02:28.34\00:02:31.82 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders 00:02:31.85\00:02:35.91 of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal 00:02:35.94\00:02:39.19 his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they besought him 00:02:39.22\00:02:43.12 instantly, saying, That he was worthy 00:02:43.15\00:02:45.55 for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, 00:02:45.58\00:02:47.94 and he hath built us a synagogue. 00:02:47.97\00:02:49.12 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far 00:02:49.15\00:02:54.55 from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto 00:02:54.58\00:02:58.35 him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou 00:02:58.38\00:03:03.26 shouldest enter under my roof: Wherefore neither thought I 00:03:03.29\00:03:06.59 myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word and my servant 00:03:06.62\00:03:10.92 shall be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, 00:03:10.95\00:03:14.85 having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he Goethe; 00:03:14.88\00:03:18.75 and to another, come, and he cometh; and to my servant, 00:03:18.78\00:03:22.84 Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard these things, 00:03:22.87\00:03:26.79 he marvelled at him, and turned him about, 00:03:26.82\00:03:29.96 and said unto the people that followed him, 00:03:29.99\00:03:31.92 I say unto you, I have not found so great faith no not in Israel. 00:03:31.95\00:03:37.78 And they that were sent, returning to the house 00:03:37.81\00:03:41.67 found the servant whole that had been sick. 00:03:41.70\00:03:44.45 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city 00:03:44.48\00:03:49.46 called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, 00:03:49.49\00:03:52.54 and much people. Now when he came nigh to the gate 00:03:52.57\00:03:56.01 of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, 00:03:56.04\00:03:59.61 the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; 00:03:59.64\00:04:03.11 and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw 00:04:03.14\00:04:07.96 her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 00:04:07.99\00:04:12.19 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him 00:04:12.22\00:04:16.16 stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 00:04:16.19\00:04:21.13 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. 00:04:21.16\00:04:25.72 And he delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear 00:04:25.75\00:04:30.41 on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet 00:04:30.44\00:04:34.84 is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited 00:04:34.87\00:04:38.45 his people. And this rumour of him went forth throughtout 00:04:38.48\00:04:42.64 all Judea, and throughout all the region round about. 00:04:42.67\00:04:45.34 And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. 00:04:45.37\00:04:49.97 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus 00:04:50.00\00:04:54.70 saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 00:04:54.73\00:04:58.61 When the men were come unto him, they said, 00:04:58.64\00:05:01.89 John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, 00:05:01.92\00:05:05.26 Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? 00:05:05.29\00:05:08.53 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities 00:05:08.56\00:05:13.84 and plagues, and of evil spirits and unto many that were blind 00:05:13.87\00:05:17.34 he gave sight. Then Jesus answering said unto them 00:05:17.37\00:05:21.57 Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; 00:05:21.60\00:05:26.20 how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, 00:05:26.23\00:05:31.22 the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel 00:05:31.25\00:05:35.82 is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended 00:05:35.85\00:05:40.58 in me. And when the messengers of John were departed, 00:05:40.61\00:05:45.13 he began to speak unto the people concerning John, 00:05:45.16\00:05:48.22 What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? 00:05:48.25\00:05:52.10 A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? 00:05:52.13\00:05:57.16 A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold they which are gorgeously 00:05:57.19\00:06:01.80 appareled, and live delicately, are in kings courts. 00:06:01.83\00:06:04.99 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say 00:06:05.02\00:06:10.28 unto you, and much more than a prophet. This is he, of whom 00:06:10.31\00:06:14.78 it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, 00:06:14.81\00:06:18.90 which shall prepare thy way before thee. 00:06:18.94\00:06:21.68 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women 00:06:21.71\00:06:26.12 there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: 00:06:26.15\00:06:29.41 but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater 00:06:29.44\00:06:33.36 than he. And all the people that heard him and the publicans, 00:06:33.39\00:06:37.94 justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 00:06:37.97\00:06:42.81 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God 00:06:42.84\00:06:47.67 against themselves, being not baptized of him. 00:06:47.70\00:06:51.38 And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of 00:06:51.41\00:06:56.05 generation? and to what are they like? They are like unto 00:06:56.08\00:06:59.57 children sitting in the marketplace, and calling 00:06:59.60\00:07:02.34 one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, 00:07:02.37\00:07:05.27 and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not 00:07:05.30\00:07:08.19 wept. For John the Baptist came neither eating bread 00:07:08.22\00:07:12.44 nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil. The son of man 00:07:12.47\00:07:17.41 has come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous 00:07:17.44\00:07:21.19 man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! 00:07:21.22\00:07:24.37 But wisdom is justified of all her children. 00:07:24.40\00:07:28.32 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. 00:07:28.35\00:07:32.53 And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. 00:07:32.56\00:07:35.69 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, 00:07:35.72\00:07:40.20 when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, 00:07:40.23\00:07:44.39 brought an alabaster box of ointment, and stood at his feet 00:07:44.42\00:07:49.07 behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, 00:07:49.10\00:07:53.03 and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet 00:07:53.06\00:07:57.04 and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee 00:07:57.07\00:08:01.34 which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, 00:08:01.37\00:08:05.73 This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what 00:08:05.76\00:08:09.93 manner of woman this is that toucheth him for she is a sinner 00:08:09.96\00:08:14.68 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat 00:08:14.72\00:08:19.43 to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 00:08:19.46\00:08:23.21 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: 00:08:23.24\00:08:27.66 the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 00:08:27.69\00:08:32.02 and when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them 00:08:32.05\00:08:36.56 both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 00:08:36.59\00:08:40.95 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, 00:08:40.98\00:08:45.14 to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, 00:08:45.17\00:08:48.85 Thou hast rightly judged. And he turned to the woman, and 00:08:48.88\00:08:53.14 said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? 00:08:53.17\00:08:56.03 I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water 00:08:56.06\00:09:00.47 for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped 00:09:00.50\00:09:05.15 them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: 00:09:05.18\00:09:09.11 but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased 00:09:09.14\00:09:13.47 to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint; 00:09:13.50\00:09:18.57 but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore 00:09:18.60\00:09:23.56 I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; 00:09:23.59\00:09:27.19 for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, 00:09:27.22\00:09:31.62 the same loveth little And he said unto her, 00:09:31.65\00:09:34.99 Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him 00:09:35.02\00:09:39.37 began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins 00:09:39.40\00:09:43.16 also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; 00:09:43.19\00:09:47.97 go in peace. - I'm reading from the gospel of Luke, chapter 8 00:09:48.00\00:09:53.12 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every 00:09:53.15\00:09:57.86 city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the 00:09:57.89\00:10:01.36 kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, and certain women 00:10:01.39\00:10:05.29 which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary 00:10:05.32\00:10:09.13 called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, and Joanna 00:10:09.16\00:10:13.68 the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, 00:10:13.71\00:10:17.31 and many others which ministered unto him of their substance. 00:10:17.34\00:10:20.80 And when much people were gathered together, and were 00:10:20.83\00:10:24.12 come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: 00:10:24.15\00:10:27.23 A sower went out to sow his seed and as he sowed, some fell 00:10:27.26\00:10:32.69 by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls 00:10:32.72\00:10:36.10 of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon 00:10:36.13\00:10:40.44 as it was sprung up it withered away, because it lacked moisture 00:10:40.47\00:10:44.17 and some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, 00:10:44.20\00:10:49.23 and choked it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, 00:10:49.26\00:10:54.82 and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these 00:10:54.85\00:10:59.49 things he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 00:10:59.52\00:11:03.28 And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable 00:11:03.31\00:11:07.74 be? And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of 00:11:07.77\00:11:12.44 the kingdom of God but to others in parables; that seeing 00:11:12.47\00:11:17.01 they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 00:11:17.04\00:11:20.15 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 00:11:20.18\00:11:24.58 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil 00:11:24.61\00:11:30.64 and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should 00:11:30.67\00:11:34.59 believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, 00:11:34.62\00:11:39.05 when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root 00:11:39.08\00:11:43.96 which for a while believe and in time of temptation fall away. 00:11:43.99\00:11:48.78 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have 00:11:48.81\00:11:53.78 heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches 00:11:53.81\00:11:57.01 and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 00:11:57.04\00:12:01.24 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest 00:12:01.27\00:12:05.92 and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, 00:12:05.95\00:12:09.51 and bring forth fruit with patience. No man, 00:12:09.54\00:12:13.55 when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, 00:12:13.58\00:12:16.76 or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, 00:12:16.79\00:12:20.31 that they which enter in may see the light. For nothing is 00:12:20.34\00:12:25.35 secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, 00:12:25.38\00:12:29.58 that shall not be known and come abroad. Take heed therefore 00:12:29.61\00:12:33.34 how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; 00:12:33.37\00:12:37.28 and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that 00:12:37.31\00:12:41.33 which he seemeth to have. Then came to him his mother 00:12:41.36\00:12:45.83 and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. 00:12:45.86\00:12:48.79 And it was told him by certain which said, Thy mother 00:12:48.82\00:12:52.10 and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. 00:12:52.13\00:12:54.95 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren 00:12:54.98\00:12:59.64 are these which hear the word of God, and do it. 00:12:59.67\00:13:03.95 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship 00:13:03.98\00:13:08.32 with his disciples: and he said said unto them. Let us go over 00:13:08.35\00:13:11.56 unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. 00:13:11.59\00:13:14.39 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a 00:13:14.42\00:13:18.93 storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, 00:13:18.96\00:13:22.11 and were in jeopardy. And they came to him, and awoke him, 00:13:22.14\00:13:25.57 saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose 00:13:25.60\00:13:29.89 and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: 00:13:29.92\00:13:32.75 and they ceased, and there was a calm. And he said unto them, 00:13:32.78\00:13:37.38 Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying, 00:13:37.41\00:13:42.22 one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth 00:13:42.25\00:13:46.29 even the winds and water, and they obey him. And they arrived 00:13:46.32\00:13:50.76 at the country of the Gadarenes which is over against Galilee. 00:13:50.79\00:13:54.04 And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city 00:13:54.07\00:13:57.55 a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, 00:13:57.58\00:14:02.04 neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, 00:14:02.07\00:14:06.81 he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud 00:14:06.84\00:14:10.05 voice said, What have I to do with thee Jesus, thou Son of God 00:14:10.08\00:14:14.08 most high, I beseech thee, torment me not. 00:14:14.11\00:14:17.76 for he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. 00:14:17.80\00:14:21.10 for oftentimes it had caught him and he was kept bound with 00:14:21.13\00:14:24.40 chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven 00:14:24.43\00:14:27.95 of the devil into the wilderness. - Thank you 00:14:27.98\00:14:30.62 for joining with me today to read the word of God. Goodbye. 00:14:30.65\00:14:37.47
