Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining me today 00:00:17.84\00:00:20.80 for His Words are Life. I'll be reading from the King James 00:00:20.83\00:00:24.25 version. And the last time we were starting the story of a 00:00:24.28\00:00:27.73 man named Jairus, who came to Jesus and said, My daughter is 00:00:27.76\00:00:30.31 about to die. Will you please come and heal her? 00:00:30.34\00:00:32.86 And as we read today, as the answer to that request, 00:00:32.89\00:00:35.98 it is one of my favorite stories of faith and the answer to faith 00:00:36.01\00:00:39.42 in the bible. But before we read his word, 00:00:39.45\00:00:42.12 let's go to Him in prayer. Dear heavenly Father, 00:00:42.15\00:00:45.68 thank you so much that for all of us who have been on the point 00:00:45.71\00:00:50.71 of death because of our sins, you have come and you healed us 00:00:50.74\00:00:54.18 by your presence and you've not only come to give us eternal 00:00:54.21\00:00:57.65 life; but to give us an abundant life. 00:00:57.68\00:00:59.42 here and now. Thank you for the life that we will find reading 00:00:59.45\00:01:03.07 your word today. Please bless us as we read it, and be with us. 00:01:03.10\00:01:06.52 We love you. Amen. Again I'm reading 00:01:06.55\00:01:11.13 from the King James version, the book of Mark, chapter five, 00:01:11.16\00:01:14.65 beginning with verse 24. And Jesus went with him; 00:01:14.68\00:01:19.50 and much people followed him, and thronged him. And a certain 00:01:19.53\00:01:23.55 woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 00:01:23.58\00:01:26.26 and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent 00:01:26.29\00:01:30.67 all that she had, and was nothing bettered, 00:01:30.70\00:01:33.19 but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, 00:01:33.22\00:01:37.01 came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 00:01:37.04\00:01:41.24 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 00:01:41.27\00:01:46.21 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; 00:01:46.24\00:01:50.24 and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 00:01:50.27\00:01:54.01 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone 00:01:54.04\00:01:59.00 out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, 00:01:59.03\00:02:02.04 Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, 00:02:02.07\00:02:06.49 Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, 00:02:06.52\00:02:09.07 and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about 00:02:09.10\00:02:13.10 to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing 00:02:13.13\00:02:17.81 and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell 00:02:17.84\00:02:22.24 down before him, and told him all the truth. 00:02:22.27\00:02:25.14 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; 00:02:25.17\00:02:29.97 go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. While he yet spake, 00:02:30.00\00:02:35.08 there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house 00:02:35.11\00:02:37.80 certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the 00:02:37.83\00:02:43.19 Master any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word that was 00:02:43.22\00:02:46.80 spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, 00:02:46.83\00:02:50.56 only believe. And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, 00:02:50.59\00:02:55.04 and James, and John the brother of James. And he cometh to the 00:02:55.07\00:02:59.52 house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the 00:02:59.55\00:03:02.32 tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 00:03:02.35\00:03:05.34 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye 00:03:05.37\00:03:09.87 this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And 00:03:09.90\00:03:15.33 they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, 00:03:15.36\00:03:19.01 he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, 00:03:19.04\00:03:22.33 and them that were with him, and entereth in 00:03:22.36\00:03:25.31 where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, 00:03:25.34\00:03:28.89 and said unto her, Talitha cumi: which is, being interpreted, 00:03:28.92\00:03:34.19 Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel 00:03:34.22\00:03:38.60 arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. 00:03:38.63\00:03:41.80 And they were astonished with a great astonishment. 00:03:41.83\00:03:45.89 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; 00:03:45.92\00:03:49.95 and commanded that something should be given her to eat. 00:03:49.98\00:03:53.79 I'm reading from the book of Mark, chapter six. 00:03:53.82\00:03:57.50 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; 00:03:57.53\00:04:01.67 and his disciples followed him. And when the Sabbath day 00:04:01.70\00:04:04.55 was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing 00:04:04.58\00:04:08.76 him were astonished, saying, >From whence hath this man 00:04:08.79\00:04:12.45 these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, 00:04:12.48\00:04:15.70 that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? 00:04:15.73\00:04:19.31 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of 00:04:19.34\00:04:22.75 James and Joses, and of Juda and Simon? and are not his 00:04:22.78\00:04:26.73 sisters here with us? And They were offended at him. 00:04:26.76\00:04:30.49 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honor 00:04:30.53\00:04:34.22 but in his own country, and among his own kin. 00:04:34.25\00:04:36.65 and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, 00:04:36.77\00:04:41.42 save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk and healed them. 00:04:41.45\00:04:45.85 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went 00:04:45.88\00:04:50.86 round about the villages, teaching. And he called 00:04:50.89\00:04:53.89 unto him the twelve and began to send them forth by 2 and 2. 00:04:53.92\00:04:58.30 and gave them power over unclean spirits; And commanded them 00:04:58.33\00:05:02.37 that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff 00:05:02.40\00:05:05.37 only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: 00:05:05.40\00:05:09.16 but be shod with sandals and not put on two coats, 00:05:09.20\00:05:12.89 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an 00:05:12.93\00:05:17.31 house, there abide till ye depart from that place. 00:05:17.34\00:05:20.93 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, 00:05:20.96\00:05:24.14 when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet 00:05:24.17\00:05:28.23 for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, 00:05:28.26\00:05:31.77 It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the 00:05:31.80\00:05:35.13 day of judgement, than for that city. And they went out, 00:05:35.16\00:05:38.90 and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many 00:05:38.93\00:05:43.10 devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, 00:05:43.13\00:05:45.99 and healed them. And king Herod heard of him; - for his name was 00:05:46.02\00:05:50.13 spread abroad: and he said, That John the Baptist was 00:05:50.16\00:05:53.67 risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works 00:05:53.70\00:05:56.26 do shew themselves in him. Others said, That it is Elias. 00:05:56.29\00:06:01.11 And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the 00:06:01.14\00:06:04.16 prophets. But when Herod heard thereof he said, It is John whom 00:06:04.19\00:06:09.10 I beheaded: he is risen from the dead. For Herod himself had sent 00:06:09.13\00:06:13.10 forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for 00:06:13.13\00:06:17.59 Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife: for he had 00:06:17.62\00:06:21.11 married her. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for 00:06:21.14\00:06:25.22 thee to have thy brother's wife. Therefore Herodias had a quarrel 00:06:25.25\00:06:29.98 against him, and would have killed him; but she could not. 00:06:30.01\00:06:32.96 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an 00:06:32.99\00:06:37.40 holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things 00:06:37.43\00:06:41.15 and heard him gladly. And when a convenient day was come, 00:06:41.18\00:06:45.64 that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, 00:06:45.67\00:06:49.62 high captains, and chief estates of Galilee; 00:06:49.65\00:06:52.66 and when the daughter of said Herodias came in and danced 00:06:52.69\00:06:56.83 and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, 00:06:56.86\00:07:00.08 the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, 00:07:00.11\00:07:03.83 and I will give it thee, and he sware unto her, Whatever 00:07:03.86\00:07:07.90 you will ask me, will give it thee, unto half of my kingdom. 00:07:07.93\00:07:11.26 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, 00:07:11.29\00:07:14.34 What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist. 00:07:14.37\00:07:19.06 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, 00:07:19.09\00:07:24.05 saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger, the head 00:07:24.08\00:07:30.55 of John the Baptist. And the king was exceeding sorry; 00:07:30.58\00:07:34.68 yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, 00:07:34.71\00:07:38.70 he would not reject her. And immediately the king sent an 00:07:38.73\00:07:42.88 executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went 00:07:42.91\00:07:47.40 and beheaded him in the prison, and brought his head 00:07:47.43\00:07:51.54 in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it 00:07:51.57\00:07:54.43 to her mother. And when his disciples heard of it, 00:07:54.46\00:07:57.45 they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb. 00:07:57.48\00:08:01.28 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, 00:08:01.31\00:08:06.09 and told him all things, both what they had done, 00:08:06.12\00:08:09.32 and what they had taught. And he said unto them, 00:08:09.35\00:08:12.68 Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place and rest a while: 00:08:12.72\00:08:17.16 for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure 00:08:17.19\00:08:21.24 so much as to eat. And they departed into a desert place 00:08:21.27\00:08:25.34 by a ship privately. And the people saw them departing, 00:08:25.37\00:08:29.40 and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, 00:08:29.43\00:08:33.21 and out went them, and came together unto him. And Jesus, 00:08:33.24\00:08:37.30 when he came out, saw much people, and was moved 00:08:37.33\00:08:40.44 with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep 00:08:40.47\00:08:43.72 not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things. 00:08:43.75\00:08:47.98 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto 00:08:48.01\00:08:52.70 him and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far 00:08:52.73\00:08:56.44 passed: Send them away, that they may go into the country 00:08:56.47\00:09:00.04 round about and into the villages, and buy themselves 00:09:00.07\00:09:02.98 bread: for they have nothing to eat. He answered and said 00:09:03.01\00:09:07.42 unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we 00:09:07.45\00:09:12.09 go and buy 200 pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat? 00:09:12.12\00:09:15.64 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. 00:09:15.67\00:09:20.74 And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes. 00:09:20.77\00:09:24.88 and he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon 00:09:24.91\00:09:28.95 the green grass. And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, 00:09:28.98\00:09:32.32 and by fifties. And when he had taken the five loaves 00:09:32.35\00:09:35.51 and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and brake 00:09:35.54\00:09:39.71 the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; 00:09:39.74\00:09:42.85 and the two fishes divided he among them all. And they did 00:09:42.88\00:09:46.74 all eat, and were filled. And they took up twelve baskets 00:09:46.77\00:09:50.72 full of the fragments, and of the fishes. And they that did 00:09:50.75\00:09:54.25 eat of the loaves were about five thousand men. 00:09:54.28\00:09:57.01 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the 00:09:57.04\00:10:01.47 ship and go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, 00:10:01.50\00:10:05.73 while he sent away the people. And when he had sent them away, 00:10:05.76\00:10:09.61 he departed into a mountain to pray. And when even was come, 00:10:09.64\00:10:14.07 the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. 00:10:14.10\00:10:18.68 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind 00:10:18.71\00:10:22.98 was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch 00:10:23.01\00:10:26.11 of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, 00:10:26.14\00:10:30.02 and would have passed by them. But when they saw him walking 00:10:30.05\00:10:34.28 upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit and cried out: 00:10:34.31\00:10:37.82 for they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he 00:10:37.85\00:10:40.59 talked with them, and saith unto unto them, Be of good cheer: 00:10:40.62\00:10:43.54 it is I; be not afraid. And he went up unto them into the ship; 00:10:43.57\00:10:48.25 and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves 00:10:48.28\00:10:53.05 beyond measure, and wondered. For they considered not 00:10:53.08\00:10:57.20 the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened. 00:10:57.23\00:11:00.28 And when they had passed over, they came into the land 00:11:00.31\00:11:04.13 of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. And when they were come 00:11:04.16\00:11:08.19 out of the ship, straightway they knew him, and ran 00:11:08.22\00:11:11.00 through that whole region round about, and began to carry about 00:11:11.03\00:11:13.98 in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. 00:11:14.01\00:11:17.37 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, 00:11:17.40\00:11:21.17 or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought 00:11:21.20\00:11:25.32 him that they might touch if it were but the border 00:11:25.35\00:11:28.01 of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole. 00:11:28.04\00:11:31.75 I'm reading in the book of Mark, and now on chapter seven. 00:11:31.78\00:11:35.85 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of 00:11:35.88\00:11:40.64 the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. And when they saw 00:11:40.67\00:11:44.11 some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say 00:11:44.14\00:11:47.70 with unwashen hands, they found fault. For the Pharisees, 00:11:47.73\00:11:52.10 and all the Jews, except they that wash their hands oft, 00:11:52.13\00:11:55.31 eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. And when they 00:11:55.35\00:12:00.26 come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. 00:12:00.30\00:12:03.36 And many other things there be, which they have received to hold 00:12:03.39\00:12:07.11 as the washing of cups and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. 00:12:07.14\00:12:11.12 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy 00:12:11.15\00:12:16.21 disciples according to the tradition of the elders, 00:12:16.24\00:12:18.48 but eat bread with unwashen hands? He answered and said 00:12:18.51\00:12:23.31 unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, 00:12:23.34\00:12:27.47 as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, 00:12:27.50\00:12:31.28 but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship 00:12:31.31\00:12:36.44 me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 00:12:36.47\00:12:40.03 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of 00:12:40.06\00:12:43.94 men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like 00:12:43.97\00:12:48.04 things ye do. And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the 00:12:48.08\00:12:52.14 commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. 00:12:52.17\00:12:55.25 For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and Whoso 00:12:55.28\00:12:58.80 curseth father or mother let him die the death. But ye say, 00:12:58.83\00:13:02.85 If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is 00:13:02.88\00:13:07.61 to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 00:13:07.64\00:13:11.44 he shall be free. And ye suffer him no more to do aught for 00:13:11.47\00:13:15.37 his father or his mother; Making the word of God 00:13:15.40\00:13:17.91 of none effect through your tradition, which ye have 00:13:17.94\00:13:20.76 delivered: and many such like things do ye. 00:13:20.79\00:13:23.71 And when he had called all the people unto him, 00:13:23.74\00:13:26.77 he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, 00:13:26.80\00:13:29.62 and understand: There is nothing from without a man, 00:13:29.65\00:13:33.30 that entering into him can defile him: but the things 00:13:33.33\00:13:37.21 which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. 00:13:37.24\00:13:41.44 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. 00:13:41.47\00:13:45.13 And when he was entered into the house from the people, 00:13:45.16\00:13:48.69 his disciples asked him concerning the parable. 00:13:48.72\00:13:51.57 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? 00:13:51.60\00:13:55.40 Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without 00:13:55.43\00:13:58.91 entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; Because it entereth 00:13:58.94\00:14:02.51 not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out 00:14:02.54\00:14:05.79 into the draught, purging all meats? And he said, 00:14:05.82\00:14:08.17 That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 00:14:08.20\00:14:12.36 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil 00:14:12.39\00:14:15.46 thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 00:14:15.49\00:14:18.05 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, 00:14:18.08\00:14:21.00 lasciviousness, and evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 00:14:21.03\00:14:25.82 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. 00:14:25.85\00:14:30.77 Thank you for joining with me today, for His words are life. 00:14:30.80\00:14:34.87
