Now, Martin Luther comes
along and Luther was a Catholic

he was a Catholic Priest
and eventually from my study...

he found a copy of a Latin Bible

and he began to read it.

He eventually became a Professor

at the University of
Wittenberg in Germany

and I've visited Wittenberg,
I've seen the statue of Luther

I've seen the Castle Door

where he nailed the Ninety-Five
Theses to the church,

and this helped
spark the reformation

so when Luther
started reading the Bible,

for the first time in
his life, what did he find?

Luther was not the
first of the Reformers

but probably the
best, well-known,

I think it's hard
for us to imagine today

that when a man

and abuse his body,

by "works" to find forgiveness

connected to a great story

but it was in
his heart and mind,

and the story is
told that he went to Rome,

he went on a pilgrimage,
he went to the staircase

traditions of the church,

it was as if... a loud voice...

just shall live by faith"

that was a turning
point in Martin Luther's life.

up, walked down those stairs,

Protestant Reformation

send this information out

prophecy about the beast,

That the whole concept that
we can go to the Bible ourselves
