says about Antichrist?

really don't hold water.

at it from the Bible.

look at every single one of them

about Antichrist today,

they imagine a one super human,

half man or half devil,

some super bad guy

that's gonna show up
at the very end of time.

Often the people think
he'll come after the rapture,

he will arise
somewhere in Europe,

he'll possibly rebuild
00:01:52.31\00:01:53.84
the ancient city of the Babylon,
00:01:53.88\00:01:55.38
he'll gain control
of the United Nations,

he will be some
00:01:57.85\00:01:59.41
very
charismatic political figure

that rises entirely
outside of the Christian church.

This idea has been
communicated through

novels, and books, and movies,
00:02:09.36\00:02:12.03
radio programs, television shows
00:02:12.06\00:02:14.36
on and on and on.
00:02:14.40\00:02:16.16
And yet, as I've
looked at those ideas,

and as I've looked at my Bible,

they don't always agree.

And so, let's just
find out, you know,

what does the Bible really
say about the word Antichrist.

give us the context

before we look at that verse.

1 John 2:1, the Bible
says, "My little children,

these things I write
to you that you sin not.

And if any man sin,
00:02:58.51\00:02:59.84
we have an
advocate with the Father,
00:02:59.87\00:03:01.84
Jesus Christ, the righteous,
00:03:01.88\00:03:04.25
and He is the
propitiation or the sacrifice
00:03:04.28\00:03:07.28
for our sins and
not for ours only,
00:03:07.32\00:03:09.65
but also for the
sins of the whole world."

John wrote this to the
early Christian believers

and he's basically saying

that God doesn't want us to sin,

sin is a terrible thing

that has cost so much
damage in God's universe

and down here on planet earth.

And the Lord
doesn't want us to sin,

he would rather us
stay away from it entirely.

But the verse
continues and says,

"But, if any man does sin,"

which has happened to all of us.

If we fall in the
sin, if yield to temptation

then we still have hope.

The Bible says, "If any man sin

we have an
advocate with the Father."

And the Father here
is the Father in heaven,

it is God himself.

And our advocate,

which means our
mediator or intercessor

is Jesus Christ,
the righteous one.

And verse 2 says,

The good news of the
Bible is that Jesus Christ,

the sins of Protestants,
the sins of Buddhists,

who believe in witchcraft,

he died for Hindus,
00:04:38.31\00:04:39.81
he died for Russians,
for Americans, for Japanese,
00:04:39.84\00:04:42.88
wherever we live
around the world,
00:04:42.91\00:04:44.51
he died for every
single politician,
00:04:44.55\00:04:46.18
believe it or not.
00:04:46.21\00:04:47.55
He died for the
republicans, for Democrats,
00:04:47.58\00:04:50.52
for Osama, and
Obama, for every one,
00:04:50.55\00:04:54.49
Jesus Christ gave
his life on the cross
00:04:54.52\00:04:58.26
for the sins of the world.
00:04:58.29\00:05:00.06
John 3:16 says that,
"For God so loved the world
00:05:00.10\00:05:03.26
that he gave his
only begotten Son,
00:05:03.30\00:05:05.43
that who so ever
believe in him should not perish

but have everlasting life."

And the Bible is very clear

that if we commit a sin or
if we've fallen in the sin,

if we've lived a life of
sin then heaven's doors are open

and then we can come to
God through Jesus Christ.

We can go directly to
the Father through the son,

Jesus is our advocate,
00:05:28.19\00:05:29.62
he is our
sacrifice, he is my savior,
00:05:29.66\00:05:32.73
and he is your savior,

especially if
you choose to belief

and to give your heart to him.

So that is the context,

the context of 1
John 2 is Jesus Christ.

And we have to
understand Jesus Christ

and him as our
sacrifice, and as our mediator,

advocate, and as our savior

in order to even
begin to understand

what the Bible
says about Antichrist.

Because ultimately, Antichrist
is against Jesus Christ

and tries to lead us
away from our savior.

So with that context,

here is the first
reference in the New Testament

to the word antichrist itself.

wrote, "Little children,

it is the last time,

as you have heard
that antichrist shall come,

" John wrote, are
there many antichrists,

whereby we know that
it is the last time."

Did you catch that?
This is an amazing verse.

So when most people think
about the word antichrist,

they think only
about one person,

and yet this verse says
there are many antichrists.

When most people
think about antichrist,
00:06:50.14\00:06:51.54
they think about only one person
00:06:51.57\00:06:53.51
that's coming in the future.
00:06:53.54\00:06:55.31
And yet, John wrote, even now
00:06:55.34\00:06:58.11
are there many antichrists.
00:06:58.15\00:07:00.75
And so that there's more to
the subject of the antichrist
00:07:00.78\00:07:04.75
than just one super bad
guy who supposedly will come.
00:07:04.79\00:07:09.16
And at the end John said,
00:07:09.19\00:07:10.73
even now there
are many antichrists,
00:07:10.76\00:07:12.99
and he said, whereby we know,
00:07:13.03\00:07:14.43
because we see all
these antichrists around us,

we know that it
is the last time.

This is the last time
according to the Bible.
00:07:20.37\00:07:22.70
Now verse 19, John
gives us some more information
00:07:22.74\00:07:26.01
which is really
shocking about antichrist.
00:07:26.04\00:07:28.38
In verse 19, John said,
00:07:28.41\00:07:30.48
"They," referring to
these many antichrists,
00:07:30.51\00:07:33.95
he said, "They went out from.."
00:07:33.98\00:07:37.35
and the next word
there is "us," u-s, us,
00:07:37.39\00:07:41.09
"they went out from us."
00:07:41.12\00:07:43.26
Now, when you
really think about it,
00:07:43.29\00:07:44.96
when John said us,
00:07:44.99\00:07:47.10
he's not talking
about people out there,
00:07:47.13\00:07:49.10
outside of Christianity,
he's talking about himself
00:07:49.13\00:07:52.73
and the leaders of the
early Christian church.
00:07:52.77\00:07:56.20
And when John said that,
00:07:56.24\00:07:57.57
these many
antichrist went out from us,
00:07:57.61\00:08:01.24
he's talking about a development
00:08:01.28\00:08:03.95
which is an
apostate development,
00:08:03.98\00:08:06.38
it's a false development.
00:08:06.41\00:08:07.75
But never the less,
it is the development
00:08:07.78\00:08:09.58
that is coming from
within the Christian church.
00:08:09.62\00:08:14.92
That's what John is saying,
00:08:14.96\00:08:16.66
they is many
antichrist went out from us.

Now as you keep
reading, in verse 22,
00:08:21.50\00:08:24.20
he goes into more detail
00:08:24.23\00:08:26.10
about what these many
antichrists were doing.
00:08:26.13\00:08:30.44
Verse 22 says, "Who is a liar,
00:08:30.47\00:08:32.71
but he who denies
that Jesus is the Christ?
00:08:32.74\00:08:37.61
He is antichrist,
00:08:37.65\00:08:40.28
that denies the
Father and the Son."
00:08:40.32\00:08:42.78
Now this was the third reference
00:08:42.82\00:08:44.15
to the word antichrist.
00:08:44.19\00:08:45.52
The first is in verse
18 about antichrist coming,
00:08:45.55\00:08:49.19
and then, also at
the end of verse 18
00:08:49.22\00:08:50.99
about many antichrists,
00:08:51.03\00:08:53.03
and now in verse 22
00:08:53.06\00:08:55.13
we have this,
the text that says,
00:08:55.16\00:08:57.70
he is antichrist who
denies the Father and the Son.
00:08:57.73\00:09:02.07
This tells us then antichrist,
whoever or whatever it is,
00:09:02.10\00:09:05.07
or how many where are,
or whether it's just one
00:09:05.11\00:09:07.71
or a whole host
of different people,
00:09:07.74\00:09:11.15
we know that antichrist denies
00:09:11.18\00:09:15.68
that Jesus is the Christ,
00:09:15.72\00:09:17.42
and he denies the
Father and the Son.
00:09:17.45\00:09:20.96
And when the Bible
says the Father, again,
00:09:20.99\00:09:22.82
it's talking about a
God as our heavenly father,
00:09:22.86\00:09:26.29
and it's talking about Jesus
is the only way to the Father.
00:09:26.33\00:09:30.20
I'm a Christian,
00:09:30.23\00:09:31.57
I believe in
Bible, I believe in Jesus,
00:09:31.60\00:09:33.57
and I know that
I don't have to go
00:09:33.60\00:09:35.77
through anyone else to
get to my Heavenly Father.

I can go directly
through Jesus Christ alone,

He is my savior.

And yet, the scripture says
that antichrist denies this,

antichrist tries to
usurp the place of Christ

and to remove Jesus

from being the
centre of our focus.
00:09:55.76\00:09:58.19
And the centre of the
pathway from man to God,
00:09:58.23\00:10:02.36
it is through
Christ, through Christ alone.
00:10:02.40\00:10:05.43
And the Bible
says, "He is antichrist
00:10:05.47\00:10:08.27
who denies the
Father and the Son."
00:10:08.30\00:10:11.87
I think of an another
verse in 1 John, not 1 John,
00:10:11.91\00:10:15.28
it's John 14:6 where Jesus said,
00:10:15.31\00:10:18.75
"I am the way, and
the truth, and the life,
00:10:18.78\00:10:21.85
and no man comes to the Father,"
00:10:21.88\00:10:25.15
which is talking
about the heavenly Father,
00:10:25.19\00:10:27.36
"no one comes to the Father,"
00:10:27.39\00:10:29.59
Jesus said, "except through me."
00:10:29.62\00:10:33.73
He is the way to heaven
00:10:33.76\00:10:35.13
and to resist
that or to deny that,
00:10:35.16\00:10:39.57
according to 1 John
2:22, is antichrist.

In verse 26, John
continued, and he wrote,

"These things I
have written to you."

Now the ''you''
applies to Christians.
00:10:54.52\00:10:57.29
John is writing to
the early Christians.

"These things I've
written you concerning them,"

and the ''them" is
these many antichrists
00:11:02.72\00:11:04.69
that have been coming out
00:11:04.73\00:11:06.06
from within the
Christian church.
00:11:06.09\00:11:08.60
"These things
I've written to you

concerning them
that seduce you."

So these antichrists coming
out from within Christianity

were trying to
seduce true Christians

away from Jesus Christ.

And in the first century

when John wrote
this the battle was on.

And the battle is on today.

It has been continuing
unabated for over 2,000 years,

and we are in
midst of a struggle

between God and Devil,

between
antichrist and Jesus Christ.
00:11:37.69\00:11:40.70
And we don't want to be seduced

by many antichrists
that tried to lead us astray
00:11:43.80\00:11:47.34
from our savior.
00:11:47.37\00:11:50.14
Chapter 4, 1 John 4:3,
00:11:50.17\00:11:54.68
this is the next verse
00:11:54.71\00:11:56.21
that talks about
the word antichrist.
00:11:56.24\00:12:00.98
And it gives us a new
dimension to the subject.

1 John 4:3, John wrote,

"Every spirit that confess not
00:12:06.65\00:12:10.33
that Jesus Christ
is come in the flesh,
00:12:10.36\00:12:14.90
this is that
spirit of antichrist,

whereof you have
heard that it should come,

" John told the Christians,
he says, you've heard
00:12:25.17\00:12:27.71
that an antichrist is coming.
00:12:27.74\00:12:29.51
And then he said,

"even now already
is it in the world."

So John is not
telling Christians
00:12:35.92\00:12:37.89
that antichrist is just
a way off in the future,

John is telling
them that antichrist
00:12:41.39\00:12:44.09
is right there, right now,
00:12:44.13\00:12:46.09
and that the battle is on.
00:12:46.13\00:12:47.76
And John also informs
us that antichrist is more
00:12:47.80\00:12:51.93
than just a flesh and blood,
00:12:51.97\00:12:54.74
there's something much deeper
to this topic than just a skin.
00:12:54.77\00:12:59.31
He says, this is
that spirit of antichrist,
00:12:59.34\00:13:03.21
there's a spirit of antichrist.
00:13:03.24\00:13:04.75
And that spirit of
antichrist can circle the world,
00:13:04.78\00:13:08.12
that spirit of antichrist
can work in all kinds of ways,
00:13:08.15\00:13:12.52
in all kinds of a subtleties
00:13:12.55\00:13:15.52
to try to lead
Christians away from Jesus.
00:13:15.56\00:13:19.26
In the next verse, John
clarifies a little more.
00:13:19.29\00:13:23.20
He said in verse 4,
"You," writing to the believers,
00:13:23.23\00:13:26.17
"You are of
God, little children,
00:13:26.20\00:13:28.90
and you have overcome them."
00:13:28.94\00:13:31.77
And the "them" is
these many antichrists
00:13:31.81\00:13:33.88
and the spirit of antichrist
00:13:33.91\00:13:35.48
that deny Jesus Christ as
the only way to the Father,
00:13:35.51\00:13:40.08
but you have overcome them
00:13:40.12\00:13:42.12
"because greater
is he that is in you,
00:13:42.15\00:13:45.12
than he that is in the world."
00:13:45.15\00:13:47.06
Now, a lot of
Christians think that antichrist
00:13:47.09\00:13:49.16
is just something
coming in the future
00:13:49.19\00:13:51.23
and that it's just the people
00:13:51.26\00:13:53.76
who possibly miss the rapture
00:13:53.80\00:13:56.20
that have to do with antichrist.
00:13:56.23\00:13:58.30
But that's not what
John said in the passage.
00:13:58.33\00:14:03.27
In this verse,
John is very clear
00:14:03.30\00:14:05.47
that the battle
is between Antichrist
00:14:05.51\00:14:08.44
and true believers in Jesus,
00:14:08.48\00:14:11.48
between true Christians.
00:14:11.51\00:14:13.58
And that Christians are
called by God to overcome
00:14:13.62\00:14:19.12
these many antichrists,
and the spirit of antichrists.
00:14:19.15\00:14:21.92
That's what he said, "You
have God, little children,
00:14:21.96\00:14:24.83
and you have to overcome them,
00:14:24.86\00:14:27.30
because greater
is He that is in you
00:14:27.33\00:14:29.50
then He is in the world."
00:14:29.53\00:14:30.87
The only way that we
can overcome antichrist
00:14:30.90\00:14:33.20
is if we have the power of
Jesus Christ in our hearts,
00:14:33.23\00:14:36.81
that's what we
need, we need Jesus.

I'm a father, my
children are Seth and Abbey,

we pray together a lot.

And one of the
teachings from the Bible

you need Jesus

we need Jesus in our hearts

in order to be ready for haven,"

and Abbey said "Daddy,
I am ready, I am ready."

Because she's just given
her whole heart to Christ.

And out of the mouths of babes

we cannot learn lots of lessons,

and we all need
Jesus in our hearts.

We need to be
God's little children

who trust him,
who trust the Bible,

who trusts what the Lord says,

and we have the power of
Jesus Christ in our hearts

then we don't need to be afraid.

And by God's
grace we can conquer,

we can over come

the sprit of Antichrist

and whatever the
devil throws at us.

So again, my main point is
that the battle is going on

inside the church.

That's what John
is writing about,

that's the
whole, the whole trend

of his council here,

and we need to
overcome antichrist

so he doesn't overcome us.

antichrist again,

as just one bad
diabolical sinister man

who's going to
come at the very end.

He's coming
outside of the church

and he used to, he's
going to try to deceive

as a charismatic
political figure,

he's going to try to
deceive those who in many views

have missed the rapture.

That's the common view.

And yet, when we
look at the Bible,

I've been doing
this for many years.

I crisscross the country

and I hold meetings
in different churches,

sometimes in public auditoriums.

And we talk about the
Bible and biblical topics,

what the Bible says is coming.

we talk about antichrists,

I got an invitation to go
to Corinth, Mississippi, so

I got into an
airplane, and I flew,

and I landed in
Memphis, Tennessee.

And as I got out of the plane

and as I went over
to the rental car place,

I picked up my, I
think I was an enterprise,

and I picked up my car,

and I went up to the
desk, and I asked the person

that I was doing
the transaction with.

I said, what is the quickest way

to get to Corinth, Mississippi?

And he said, "Oh,
that's really easy."

And then he reach
down underneath the desk

and handed me a map.
00:20:19.15\00:20:20.48
He said "Here's them up,"
and he said ''Its real easy."

He said, ''You
just go out of here
00:20:22.48\00:20:23.82
and you get on the freeway,
you'll get on to Highway 55,
00:20:23.85\00:20:26.96
and then you just head south.
00:20:26.99\00:20:28.42
And if you just head south"

he said, ''It's about two hours,
00:20:30.43\00:20:31.99
you cant miss it."

He said ''You'll get
to Corinth by and by."

I still remember
that man saying that,
00:20:35.43\00:20:36.87
"You'll get to
Corinth by and by."

Well, I had no
reason to doubt him
00:20:38.83\00:20:41.00
because you know,
he knew and I didn't,
00:20:41.04\00:20:42.84
I'm from California,
00:20:42.87\00:20:44.21
I'm not form
Tennessee or Mississippi.
00:20:44.24\00:20:46.41
And so handed me the map,
I went and picked up my car,
00:20:46.44\00:20:50.81
got in the car,
started the engine,
00:20:50.85\00:20:52.81
went far as instructions,
00:20:52.85\00:20:54.55
and I got on the
Highway 55, south.
00:20:54.58\00:20:57.15
And so I'm driving for,
oh, about may be 20 minutes
00:20:57.19\00:21:00.69
and this little
voice inside my conscious
00:21:00.72\00:21:02.56
started talking at me,
00:21:02.59\00:21:03.93
and the voice said that,
00:21:03.96\00:21:05.29
"Steve, you need
to check your map."

And I resisted that voice
and I thought to myself, Why?

I don't need to check my map,
00:21:11.13\00:21:13.74
this man knows
what he's talking about.

He is in
authority on where to go
00:21:16.14\00:21:18.54
and he told me just get on
the highway and head south.

So I kept going, and then after
another five or ten minutes,

the voice got louder in my mind
and my conscious telling me,

Steve, you need
to check your map.

And I resisted
that voice, I thought,

I don't need to
check my map, you know,

I got an another hour

on the road
until I get to Corinth,

then I'll check my map.

Well, as I kept on driving

the voice got
louder inside my head.

So finally, on open stretch

when there were
hardly any cars around,

I know my wife
probably wouldn't like
00:21:48.64\00:21:50.24
to hear that I did this,
00:21:50.27\00:21:51.61
although we
weren't married back then.
00:21:51.64\00:21:53.17
But as I'm driving on
the highway, I reached over,
00:21:53.21\00:21:55.51
picked up the map
off the front seat,
00:21:55.54\00:21:58.38
and just quickly opened
it up while I'm driving,
00:21:58.41\00:22:00.92
and I look down.
00:22:00.95\00:22:02.28
And when I saw the map,

it was right
there in front of me,

I was shocked to see
that I was on Highway 55,

like I had been told

and I was
heading straight south,

and if I kept on going,
00:22:11.43\00:22:12.83
I would eventually get to
Jackson, Mississippi by and by.

And then I
looked over on the side,
00:22:15.90\00:22:17.27
and Corinth was dead east
00:22:17.30\00:22:20.34
on Highway 72 from Memphis,
00:22:20.37\00:22:25.21
from Memphis, Tennessee.
00:22:25.24\00:22:27.98
And when I saw that I realize
00:22:28.01\00:22:29.91
that if I would have
continued on Highway 55,
00:22:29.94\00:22:33.35
I never would have
got to Corinth by and by,
00:22:33.38\00:22:35.88
that I was on the wrong road.
00:22:35.92\00:22:37.95
And so, I, like a puppy
dog with my tale you know,
00:22:37.99\00:22:42.82
beneath my
legs, I turned around,
00:22:42.86\00:22:45.63
lost a quite a bit of
time getting to Corinth,
00:22:45.66\00:22:48.66
got back on the road,
headed the other direction,
00:22:48.70\00:22:51.47
back to Memphis, and
then picked up Highway 72,
00:22:51.50\00:22:55.47
and begin heading east.
00:22:55.50\00:22:57.31
And I eventually did
get to Corinth by and by.
00:22:57.34\00:23:00.84
I learned a lesson
from that experience,

and the lesion is as
much as you may trust someone,

and as much as, you know,
you think that person knows

what he's talking about,

what we need to do,

we all need to
do is check our map,

check the map yourself.

And when it comes to the topic
of antichrist in the Bible,

and you may trust the people

Bible, what does it say?

references in the New Testament

to the word 'Antichrist',
and this is what we read.

This is how we know we're
in the last time right now.

they went out from us."

They come out from
within Christianity.

They don't come
from the out side

inside of the church.

They deny the Father and
the Son in a subtle ways.

They are deceptive,

there is a spirit of antichrist,

The battle is on,

and it is to true believers,
true followers of Jesus

and the sprit of antichrist.

this through the power

and by sticking

what the Bible has to say.
