that a certain man had two sons.

represent the human race.

One of the sons
is lost in the world

The other son
however was in the church.

And because he was in the church

that's all that it took,

his good behavior

that this is the very
basis for all deceptions?

had no confidence in ourselves

tell you a little story.

that trust in himself

or in any other
man for that matter,

but blessed it is the
man, that trusts in God.

In 1987, my
wife and I were asked

to take up a
ministry in Zambia in Africa.

We were in Zambia for one year,

after one year
we received the call

to go to a little
country called Lesotho.

I don't know if
you've ever heard of Lesotho

but Lesotho is a
little landlocked country

in South Africa.

So you have the
South Africa the country

and in the middle of it

there is a little
country called Lesotho.

A doctor as a
matter of fact two doctors,

Dr Rick and Lorna Lukens
had been in Africa for 14 years

and they
started a little mission

in a valley called
Senqunyane in Lesotho.

Well, their
children had become teenagers

and because they were teenagers

they thought that their children

needed to go to
school in America.

Well, my children
had become teenagers

and I thought that they needed
an education in the third world.

And so we made our way to Africa

while they were
making their way to America.

When we arrived in
Lesotho the chiefs in the valley

there were about 3,000 people.

The chiefs called a meeting
and they said to us listen,

allowed a white man

to be here in this valley

is because he's a doctor
and he opened the clinic.

Now he's leaving and he's
bringing in another family

and we want to say to
you that the only reason

that we would allow a different
family to live in this valley

would be if they
kept the clinic going.

Well, friends, no problem

my wife has a
grade ten education

and I have a grade ten education
that's 20 years between us.

Surely we can
keep a clinic going.

One night it's about midnight

heard a rocket outside.

what was going on,

Lesotho is called
the kingdom in the sky.

It's because it's situated
on top of the Drakensberg

or the Maluti mountains

depending on which side
of the mountains you are.

And my drive way
was very, very steep

I had cemented two tracks so
that I could come in and out.

I had to only
pickup in the whole valley.

And so it was very
difficult to get out of there.

But what was
happening was an ox cart

was coming down the drive way

and it was
making a lot of noise.

My wife and I got
dressed we went outside to see

who it was and what they wanted.

And it turned out that

there was a pregnant
woman in this ox cart.

And this pregnant
woman said to my wife,

you must deliver my baby.

Now my wife said,

I've never
delivered a baby before.

I don't know how
to deliver babies.

said how to deliver babies.

I gave my wife the book
and with the book in one hand

Now here's a question.

of the whole thing.

were in Africa for 10 years?

every week for 10 years?

How many babies is
that we never counted them.

But I can tell you this,
my wife never lost one baby.

Do you know why she
never lost one baby?

Because she didn't
know how to deliver babies

she saw someone coming

she would get on her

trained as a midwife,

wisdom with the people.

And in 10 years
she never lost one.

She even delivered
one of our grandchildren.

This is an example of
the plan of salvation.

we saw that a
certain man had two sons.

Now we're going to
verse 12 in Luke Chapter 15.

"And the younger of
them said to his father,

Father, give me the portion
of goods that fall to me."

And so here we have it.

Is a young man we
don't know how old he is,

all we know is that he's young

and he's asking his
father for his inheritance.

Now in that culture,

that would have been a
terrible insult to the father.

Its equivalent to saying
dad, I wish you were dead,

because I want
my inheritance now.

If you had been
the father of that boy

common sense had said?

Well, obviously you'd
put your arm around the boy

listen kid, I love you.

You know that I love
you but you're very young,

you're immature,
you have no experience

and I have put all
kinds of money into this,

I have invested all
kinds of efforts into this,

I have built up an empire.

How can I put this
empire in the hands

of one who has
invested no sweat,

no blood, no tears?

As a matter of fact
it's all yours anyway,

The only problem is of
course I ain't dead yet see.

what's happening here.

This is not just common sense.

to supply all our needs

the soul that feels

to relate to this thing.

not separate His gift
