Hello, and welcome to Heart Lift. 00:00:25.32\00:00:27.02 I'm Jill Morikone, and I'm so glad that you 00:00:27.06\00:00:29.89 have joined us today. 00:00:29.92\00:00:31.26 We're on a journey toward hope, toward healing, 00:00:31.29\00:00:34.63 toward the transformation that the Lord Jesus wants to work 00:00:34.66\00:00:37.93 in your life and in mine, as women, as daughters of God. 00:00:37.97\00:00:42.40 If you're just joining us, we're in the middle of our discussion 00:00:42.44\00:00:46.47 on transformation; the transformation that the Lord 00:00:46.51\00:00:50.38 Jesus wants to work in each one of our hearts. 00:00:50.41\00:00:53.25 We talked about the washed heart. 00:00:53.28\00:00:55.98 God wants to wash us with the washing of the 00:00:56.02\00:00:58.32 water of the word. 00:00:58.35\00:00:59.72 Last program we discussed the pruned heart, 00:00:59.75\00:01:03.69 and we talked about the six different purposes of pruning, 00:01:03.73\00:01:07.70 both in the natural world, with trees, and in the Spiritual 00:01:07.73\00:01:11.83 world, in our own hearts and lives. 00:01:11.87\00:01:14.24 We're pruned to remove some of that bad, 00:01:14.27\00:01:16.27 or some of that diseased stuff that's going on in our 00:01:16.30\00:01:19.31 hearts, and in our lives. 00:01:19.34\00:01:20.71 Pruned so that we open up our hearts more to receive more 00:01:20.74\00:01:25.48 of Jesus, the light of the world, more of the Holy Spirit, 00:01:25.51\00:01:29.85 more air flow, more of the word of God, more water, 00:01:29.88\00:01:36.22 more spray in the tree. 00:01:36.26\00:01:38.16 The last two: grow more fruits. 00:01:38.19\00:01:41.43 We're pruned so that we produce more fruit, 00:01:41.46\00:01:44.27 and so that our lives represent more fully, 00:01:44.30\00:01:49.17 more completely the Lord Jesus. 00:01:49.20\00:01:52.24 Today we're talking about a spirit filled heart. 00:01:52.27\00:01:56.28 Our Scripture is Isaiah 43. 00:01:56.31\00:02:00.05 We're going to read verse 19, Isaiah 43:19. 00:02:00.08\00:02:04.85 If you have your Bible, open up and follow along. 00:02:04.89\00:02:07.46 If not, you can jot down the reference. 00:02:07.49\00:02:09.99 The Bible says: Behold, I will do a new thing; 00:02:10.03\00:02:15.26 now it will spring forth; shall you not know it? 00:02:15.30\00:02:18.97 I will even make a road in the wilderness, 00:02:19.00\00:02:22.30 and rivers in the desert. 00:02:22.34\00:02:25.57 Let's pray. Father we come before You right now 00:02:25.61\00:02:29.44 in the name of Jesus, thanking You that You want to pour Your 00:02:29.48\00:02:33.58 Spirit, Your anointing into those dry and barren 00:02:33.62\00:02:39.12 places in our hearts. 00:02:39.15\00:02:40.76 And I don't know what dryness is in my sisters' hearts 00:02:40.79\00:02:44.36 at home right now, but we ask right now that You would pour 00:02:44.39\00:02:47.86 in Your Spirit, and that You would bring abundant 00:02:47.90\00:02:51.37 fruitfulness and beauty. 00:02:51.40\00:02:53.94 Please speak to us now, and help our hearts and minds to be open 00:02:53.97\00:02:58.44 to receive Your word. 00:02:58.47\00:03:00.54 And we thank You in the precious and the Holy 00:03:00.58\00:03:03.71 name of Jesus, Amen. 00:03:03.75\00:03:05.95 My husband Greg and I were traveling, 00:03:07.18\00:03:09.68 and this took place fairly recently. 00:03:09.72\00:03:11.82 We flew out to Seattle. 00:03:11.85\00:03:13.96 We landed there in Washington state, then we rented a car 00:03:13.99\00:03:18.43 and we drove all the way, a little bit north, 00:03:18.46\00:03:21.23 just a tiny bit west, and we took a ferry 00:03:21.26\00:03:25.77 over to Whidbey Island there in the Puget Sound. 00:03:25.80\00:03:30.27 It's beautiful country out there. It's gorgeous! 00:03:30.31\00:03:34.91 They have lots of trees: evergreens. 00:03:34.94\00:03:39.91 It's green, it's lush. 00:03:39.95\00:03:43.32 There was the water, of course, surrounded by the ocean. 00:03:43.35\00:03:46.82 It was really pretty; lots of wildlife. 00:03:46.86\00:03:49.49 We spent a night there. 00:03:49.52\00:03:50.86 It was beautiful. And then we took the land route North, 00:03:50.89\00:03:53.80 and then we came down the Interstate to Seattle, 00:03:53.83\00:03:56.46 and we took 90 East. 00:03:56.50\00:03:58.23 We were headed over towards Spokane. 00:03:58.27\00:04:00.80 As we came up over the mountains, you go up over the 00:04:00.84\00:04:04.57 mountains, and there's some of those elevations, 00:04:04.61\00:04:06.98 and the Cascades, and it's green, 00:04:07.01\00:04:09.61 very green on the West side. 00:04:09.64\00:04:13.11 The rain comes and its all dumped on the West side. 00:04:13.15\00:04:15.75 It was beautiful! All of a sudden we came over one of the 00:04:15.78\00:04:19.15 ranges, and I looked and I said, Oh, the trees are disappearing. 00:04:19.19\00:04:23.96 The green is disappearing. 00:04:23.99\00:04:25.56 And I would say that within a matter of just a few miles, 00:04:25.59\00:04:28.40 it was not a long distance, the entire landscape had changed. 00:04:28.43\00:04:33.17 It was flat as we got farther towards Spokane, 00:04:33.20\00:04:38.07 but it was brown, much less tree life, much less green, 00:04:38.11\00:04:44.05 lush vegetation; totally different landscape. 00:04:44.08\00:04:49.42 Now, of course, they grow a lot of crops over there. 00:04:49.45\00:04:51.42 There's a lot of irrigation. 00:04:51.45\00:04:52.79 Wherever the water hit was green. 00:04:52.82\00:04:55.82 If people watered their yards, that was green. 00:04:55.86\00:04:58.59 If they watered in say, the vineyard, maybe that was the 00:04:58.63\00:05:01.20 crop, or the apple tree, or whatever they were growing 00:05:01.23\00:05:04.10 that was lush and green. 00:05:04.13\00:05:06.17 But where there was no water, there was barrenness, 00:05:06.20\00:05:09.80 there was dryness, there was brownness. 00:05:09.84\00:05:13.04 It reminds me of our Scripture. 00:05:13.07\00:05:15.48 I want to read verse 18 and 19. 00:05:15.51\00:05:18.35 The Bible says, Do not remember the former things, 00:05:22.15\00:05:25.85 neither consider the things of old. 00:05:25.89\00:05:29.09 Behold, I will do a new thing; shall you not know it? 00:05:29.12\00:05:35.23 I will even make a road in the wilderness, 00:05:35.26\00:05:37.57 and rivers in the desert. 00:05:37.60\00:05:41.24 Are you walking in a desert today? 00:05:41.27\00:05:44.17 Are you walking in a barren and a dry place? 00:05:44.21\00:05:48.78 Sometimes we're in the desert because of 00:05:48.81\00:05:51.98 other peoples choices. 00:05:52.01\00:05:54.68 Maybe you've been abused, through no fault of your own, 00:05:54.72\00:05:58.35 and you say, I'm in the desert right now, Jill. 00:05:58.39\00:06:01.59 The desert: dry, desolate, pain. 00:06:01.62\00:06:05.86 There's no water in my life. 00:06:05.89\00:06:07.56 There's no fruitfulness. 00:06:07.60\00:06:08.93 There's no abundance. 00:06:08.96\00:06:10.30 There's nothing green in the desert because of 00:06:10.33\00:06:13.07 someone else's choice. 00:06:13.10\00:06:14.60 It could be abuse. 00:06:14.64\00:06:15.97 It could be something else, but it's a result of 00:06:16.00\00:06:19.04 someone else's choice. 00:06:19.07\00:06:20.54 On Monday nights we go to visit the girls in our local jail; 00:06:20.58\00:06:24.18 and this particular Monday night, 00:06:24.21\00:06:26.31 and subsequent Monday nights. 00:06:26.35\00:06:29.15 But the first Monday night we noticed this girl. 00:06:29.18\00:06:31.22 And she showed up, and beautiful girl, blonde hair. 00:06:31.25\00:06:34.92 I'd say she's nineteen. Young, real young, pretty girl. 00:06:34.96\00:06:38.49 Every time we stood for prayer, she had the same prayer request. 00:06:40.00\00:06:43.73 She would say, Please pray for the Santos family. 00:06:43.77\00:06:48.24 Now I just made up their name. 00:06:48.27\00:06:49.60 Please pray for the Santos family. 00:06:49.64\00:06:53.17 And she would cry. 00:06:53.21\00:06:55.11 Pray for the Santos family. 00:06:55.14\00:06:57.61 And then the next, and we would pray for them. 00:06:57.65\00:07:00.32 The next Monday night, or the next time we came in, 00:07:00.35\00:07:04.09 she had the same prayer: Please pray for the Santos family. 00:07:04.12\00:07:09.99 Now its interesting, because you might say, Why did she keep 00:07:10.03\00:07:13.19 asking for prayer for the Santos family? 00:07:13.23\00:07:15.20 You see, this precious girl, who was in jail, 00:07:15.23\00:07:17.83 she was in there, she had been involved in a car accident. 00:07:17.87\00:07:21.94 She had been the driver. 00:07:21.97\00:07:23.34 She had hit Mrs. Santos, and Mrs. Santos had died. 00:07:23.37\00:07:28.44 Now in addition to the fact that there was this vehicle accident, 00:07:28.48\00:07:32.41 in addition to that she had been doing drugs. 00:07:32.45\00:07:36.32 And there was drugs involved. 00:07:36.35\00:07:37.75 And so they had put her in jail. 00:07:37.79\00:07:39.45 She was awaiting her trial. 00:07:39.49\00:07:40.86 And so every single Monday night, she had the same request: 00:07:40.89\00:07:47.40 pray for the Santos family. 00:07:47.43\00:07:50.03 Because they lost a member of their family through 00:07:50.07\00:07:54.24 no fault of their own. 00:07:54.27\00:07:55.74 They were walking through a desert, 00:07:55.77\00:07:59.67 through no fault of their own. 00:07:59.71\00:08:01.68 It was a desert because of someone else's choice. 00:08:01.71\00:08:04.11 Your desert might be because of someone else's choice. 00:08:04.15\00:08:07.45 Your desert might be because of your own choosing. 00:08:07.48\00:08:11.22 Sometimes we treat other people, say someone is snippy to me, 00:08:11.25\00:08:15.12 I could choose to react with love, or if I react with anger, 00:08:15.16\00:08:20.06 with rage, with revenge, with retaliation, 00:08:20.10\00:08:24.30 what's going to happen? 00:08:24.33\00:08:25.67 Probably they're going to react back to me. 00:08:25.70\00:08:28.57 Now if I keep this up, it might escalate. 00:08:28.60\00:08:31.67 Now what's the cause of that? 00:08:31.71\00:08:33.54 You might say, Well, they started it. 00:08:33.58\00:08:35.51 And that might be true. 00:08:35.54\00:08:36.88 But if I had reacted differently, then their response 00:08:36.91\00:08:41.48 might have been differently, might have been different. 00:08:41.52\00:08:45.09 So sometimes when we react to someone else, 00:08:45.12\00:08:47.69 the way we react creates a chain reaction, 00:08:47.72\00:08:50.39 and they react back to us. 00:08:50.43\00:08:52.66 Sometimes we're in a desert of our own choosing. 00:08:52.69\00:08:55.73 I think of Sampson. 00:08:55.76\00:08:57.17 Remember, he was a judge chosen to judge the people of Israel. 00:08:57.20\00:09:01.60 And when he became a young man, he found a woman of the 00:09:01.64\00:09:07.64 Philistines that he wanted to marry. 00:09:07.68\00:09:10.81 And in vain his parents said, There's thousands, hundreds, 00:09:10.85\00:09:16.08 lots of girls here in Israel. 00:09:16.12\00:09:18.35 Why don't you pick a girl who loves Jehovah? 00:09:18.39\00:09:21.52 Why don't you pick a girl who wants to follow God? 00:09:21.56\00:09:24.43 And instead he said... 00:09:24.46\00:09:26.59 What's the Bible say? 00:09:26.63\00:09:27.96 ...Get her for me, for she pleases me well. 00:09:28.00\00:09:31.87 He faced the desert of his own choosing pretty soon when some 00:09:31.90\00:09:37.07 not so nice things began to happen in his life, 00:09:37.11\00:09:39.64 in his experience as a result of what he chose to do. 00:09:39.67\00:09:44.58 Sometimes we're in the desert of past mistakes, 00:09:44.61\00:09:47.42 or pain from the past. 00:09:47.45\00:09:48.85 Whatever desert you are in right now, 00:09:48.88\00:09:51.82 God wants to bring about fruitfulness. 00:09:51.85\00:09:54.92 He wants to pour in rivers of water. 00:09:54.96\00:09:58.09 He wants to irrigate your, and my life, so that we can bring 00:09:58.13\00:10:02.20 forth abundant fruitfulness. 00:10:02.23\00:10:04.47 How does God bring the water? 00:10:04.50\00:10:06.77 I think a lot of it is through the Holy Spirit; outpouring of 00:10:06.80\00:10:11.51 the Holy Spirit; He wants to pour His Spirit upon you and I. 00:10:11.54\00:10:15.24 Galatians 5:22 says, The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, 00:10:15.28\00:10:20.08 peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 00:10:20.12\00:10:24.62 gentleness, and self control. 00:10:24.65\00:10:27.16 Turn with me to Hosea. 00:10:27.19\00:10:28.99 We're going to jump over to Hosea 14, and the prophet 00:10:29.02\00:10:32.89 here talks about dew. 00:10:32.93\00:10:35.83 That's what we're talking about today is the dew. 00:10:35.86\00:10:39.00 Israel had turned from God. 00:10:39.03\00:10:41.00 They had turned their back on God. 00:10:41.04\00:10:42.64 They wanted nothing to do with God. 00:10:42.67\00:10:44.67 And at the same time, God spoke these words: 00:10:44.71\00:10:48.28 Hosea 14, we're looking at verses 4 and 5. 00:10:48.31\00:10:51.58 He says, I will heal their backsliding, 00:10:51.61\00:10:55.58 I will love them freely: for My anger has been turned away. 00:10:55.62\00:11:01.19 I will be like the dew to Israel... 00:11:01.22\00:11:04.46 There's our word, dew. 00:11:04.49\00:11:06.03 ...he shall grow like the lily, and lengthen his 00:11:06.06\00:11:08.20 roots like Lebanon. 00:11:08.23\00:11:09.56 God wants to be like the dew to you and I. 00:11:09.60\00:11:13.17 As the dew bathes the earth, so God wants to renew you and I, 00:11:13.20\00:11:19.37 as His daughters, as His children. 00:11:19.41\00:11:23.04 Titus 3 talks about the Holy Spirit being like the dew 00:11:23.08\00:11:28.98 in our hearts. Titus 3:4-6. 00:11:29.02\00:11:33.22 It says, When the kindness and love of God our Savior toward 00:11:33.25\00:11:36.52 man appeared, not by works of righteousness 00:11:36.56\00:11:39.66 which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved 00:11:39.69\00:11:43.63 us, through the washing of regeneration, 00:11:43.67\00:11:46.87 and renewing of the Holy Spirit; whom He poured out on us 00:11:46.90\00:11:52.27 abundantly through Jesus Christ our Lord. 00:11:52.31\00:11:56.51 What is Paul saying here? 00:11:56.54\00:11:58.61 He's saying, I'm going to wash you through the renewing 00:11:58.65\00:12:02.78 of the Holy Spirit. 00:12:02.82\00:12:04.59 I will be like the dew unto you. 00:12:04.62\00:12:08.29 We often talk about the latter rain; the latter rain. 00:12:08.32\00:12:12.76 And, of course, we want that to fall. 00:12:12.79\00:12:14.76 But I think, before the latter rain, we need the early rain. 00:12:14.80\00:12:18.03 We need the dew. We need the rejuvenation in each 00:12:18.07\00:12:21.94 one of our hearts. 00:12:21.97\00:12:23.37 We want to talk today about the three aspects of the dew. 00:12:23.41\00:12:27.44 What are the three aspects of the dew? 00:12:27.48\00:12:29.68 This program we're going to focus on aspect 00:12:29.71\00:12:31.71 1. Waiting for the dew; waiting for that heavenly dew. 00:12:31.75\00:12:38.12 The next program we're going to talk about the next two aspects. 00:12:38.15\00:12:41.49 That will be watering by the dew, 00:12:41.52\00:12:43.53 and equipping through the dew. 00:12:43.56\00:12:46.49 But the rest of today's program we will talk about, 00:12:46.53\00:12:49.83 Waiting for the Dew. 00:12:49.86\00:12:52.63 What are the requirements to form dew? 00:12:52.67\00:12:55.50 Dew takes time. Do you know that? 00:12:55.54\00:12:57.74 It takes time in order to form. 00:12:57.77\00:13:00.21 You can't look down and say immediately, Dew takes time, 00:13:00.24\00:13:04.45 and often it forms in the early morning hours. 00:13:04.48\00:13:09.55 Many times dew forms in the early morning hours. 00:13:09.62\00:13:13.09 It requires waiting. 00:13:13.12\00:13:14.62 It requires stillness, and quietness, little or no wind, 00:13:14.66\00:13:20.10 in order for that dew to form. 00:13:20.13\00:13:21.83 It requires cooler temperatures, or clear nights. 00:13:21.86\00:13:26.13 Dew never forms when there's heat, 00:13:26.17\00:13:28.37 or when there's a lot of wind. 00:13:28.40\00:13:31.31 What is the application to our spiritual lives? waiting. 00:13:31.34\00:13:36.38 Due takes time to form. 00:13:36.41\00:13:38.58 We're going to look at waiting; waiting for the dew. 00:13:38.61\00:13:42.72 My nephew Stephen... 00:13:42.75\00:13:44.89 Now I have four nephews: Jonathan, 00:13:44.92\00:13:47.32 Stephen, Caleb, and Joshua. 00:13:47.36\00:13:50.76 But my nephew Stephen, when it was his, I think it was his 00:13:50.79\00:13:55.50 sixth birthday, as my memory, but I'm not 100% sure. 00:13:55.53\00:13:59.07 When it was close to his birthday time, we were shopping 00:13:59.10\00:14:02.74 for him, and getting his package ready. 00:14:02.77\00:14:04.71 Now my sister gave me a list of the things that he 00:14:04.74\00:14:08.21 would want to get. 00:14:08.24\00:14:09.61 So we got him some match box cars. 00:14:09.64\00:14:12.61 We got him some monster trucks, and a frog puzzle. 00:14:12.65\00:14:17.49 And it was all wrapped up in a Lightning McQueen package, 00:14:17.52\00:14:22.36 because he loves Lightning McQueen. 00:14:22.39\00:14:24.99 So we put it in a little gift bag with Lightning McQueen. 00:14:25.03\00:14:28.30 Now I got it all together; got it set next to the box, 00:14:28.33\00:14:32.57 and then I told my husband Greg, Can you pack this for me? 00:14:32.60\00:14:36.60 He's a really good packer. 00:14:36.64\00:14:38.27 Now, there's one more aspect to the story. 00:14:38.31\00:14:41.31 Not only were we packing a package for my nephew Steven, 00:14:41.34\00:14:44.88 we were also packing a package for Greg's Dad. 00:14:44.91\00:14:49.32 It was also around the time of his birthday. 00:14:49.35\00:14:52.22 We were a little late for his, but we were 00:14:52.25\00:14:54.06 sending out his package. 00:14:54.09\00:14:55.56 And so Greg was packing both of those packages at the same time; 00:14:55.59\00:15:00.63 packing both of them at the same time. 00:15:00.66\00:15:03.90 I had them all ready next to their boxes. 00:15:03.93\00:15:07.07 So Greg packed the little frog puzzle, the match box cars, 00:15:07.10\00:15:10.84 the monster truck, and the Lightning McQueen package, 00:15:10.87\00:15:13.91 and he sealed it up real good in its box. 00:15:13.94\00:15:16.61 He also packaged what we had bought for Greg's Dad, 00:15:16.64\00:15:20.28 and that was all sealed up as well. 00:15:20.32\00:15:22.72 Now Greg didn't take it to the Post Office, but he told me, 00:15:22.75\00:15:25.95 I had a little thought, Jill. 00:15:25.99\00:15:27.49 I really should write down on each box: Stephen, Dad. 00:15:27.52\00:15:33.60 But he said, No, Jilly's going to know which box is which. 00:15:33.63\00:15:37.43 Well, you know what happened. 00:15:37.47\00:15:39.70 I got to the Post Office; I went to mail them. 00:15:39.73\00:15:43.47 And I thought, Hum, I wonder whose is whose? 00:15:43.51\00:15:47.18 Oh, I should call Greg. 00:15:47.21\00:15:48.78 No, I shouldn't. I know whose is whose. 00:15:48.81\00:15:50.45 So this box went to Stephen: Priority Mail. 00:15:50.48\00:15:54.38 This box went to Dad: Priority Mail. 00:15:54.42\00:15:57.79 Three days later Dad texted Greg. 00:15:57.82\00:16:02.09 Hey, that's a pretty nice present that you got me. 00:16:02.12\00:16:06.39 I was just in Wal-Mart and I kind of thought, It'd be fun 00:16:06.43\00:16:09.66 to play with those cars again. 00:16:09.70\00:16:11.30 It's been years since I've played with them. 00:16:11.33\00:16:12.77 It'd be kind of fun. 00:16:12.80\00:16:14.14 And as soon as we got that text I told Greg, 00:16:14.17\00:16:16.27 We switched up the packages, and he got the wrong one! 00:16:16.30\00:16:20.08 That night my sister called me. 00:16:20.11\00:16:22.51 She said, You should have seen Stephen today. 00:16:22.54\00:16:24.51 He was so excited! 00:16:24.55\00:16:25.88 He got his package from Auntie Jill, and Uncle Greg. 00:16:25.91\00:16:29.35 He opened it up, and of course it's adult stuff. 00:16:29.38\00:16:32.65 It's not kids stuff. 00:16:32.69\00:16:34.02 He opened it up. She said he threw himself down on the floor, 00:16:34.06\00:16:37.83 and he had a tantrum. 00:16:37.86\00:16:39.19 He screamed and he kicked his little legs, and his arms, 00:16:39.23\00:16:42.16 and said, I want my package! 00:16:42.20\00:16:44.80 And so she said, It's okay. 00:16:44.83\00:16:46.53 Just be patient. I'll mail this one to the Morikone's. 00:16:46.57\00:16:49.90 They can send that one to you. 00:16:49.94\00:16:52.47 Wait another few days; you're going to get it. 00:16:52.51\00:16:54.68 NO! I want my package NOW! 00:16:54.71\00:16:58.08 You know, we kind of laugh about that, but I don't like to 00:16:58.11\00:17:01.72 wait a whole lot either. 00:17:01.75\00:17:03.08 I don't know about you. 00:17:03.12\00:17:04.45 Sometimes I don't like to wait in line. 00:17:04.49\00:17:07.06 And I pick a line at the grocery store and I say, 00:17:07.09\00:17:09.36 Why doesn't this line hurry up faster? 00:17:09.39\00:17:11.89 Let me join this one over here. 00:17:11.93\00:17:13.29 And every time I do that, I pick another bad line. 00:17:13.33\00:17:16.50 If you're at the stop light and the light turns green, 00:17:16.53\00:17:19.97 what happens if the car in front of you doesn't go? 00:17:20.00\00:17:22.50 You might be tempted to give a little tap on your horn. 00:17:22.54\00:17:26.31 We don't like to wait at the bank, or the grocery store, 00:17:26.34\00:17:29.08 or at the restaurant for our food. 00:17:29.11\00:17:31.11 Waiting, we really don't enjoy waiting. 00:17:31.15\00:17:35.05 You know, they say that time that is spent in waiting 00:17:35.08\00:17:38.19 in a person's average lifetime; in your average, 00:17:38.22\00:17:41.42 this is an average lifespan. 00:17:41.46\00:17:43.09 You're going to spend 6 months waiting in line, 00:17:43.12\00:17:46.19 20 weeks on hold. I believe that. 00:17:46.23\00:17:50.00 7 years lying awake at night. 00:17:50.03\00:17:52.83 I guess from insomnia. 00:17:52.87\00:17:54.30 4 years spent on the phone at work, 5 years spent online. 00:17:54.34\00:18:01.34 You know, in the physical world we don't really like waiting. 00:18:01.38\00:18:05.21 But it's important. 00:18:05.25\00:18:07.68 In order for dew to form, it requires waiting. 00:18:07.72\00:18:13.15 If we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, if we want to be 00:18:13.19\00:18:17.56 watered with God's heavenly dew, if we want to be brought 00:18:17.59\00:18:22.56 from a dry barren place, to an abundant fruitful place, 00:18:22.60\00:18:26.63 we need to wait; to wait in God's presence, to spend time 00:18:26.67\00:18:33.64 in His word. We need to wait. 00:18:33.68\00:18:38.28 What keeps us from waiting? 00:18:38.31\00:18:40.38 I think sometimes our busy schedule. 00:18:40.42\00:18:44.55 I don't know about you, but often my commitments with my 00:18:44.59\00:18:48.82 family, maybe my job, maybe even my ministry, can start to 00:18:48.86\00:18:55.16 encroach on that time with God in the morning. 00:18:55.20\00:18:58.33 And God says, Don't let anything become more important to you 00:18:58.37\00:19:04.21 than your time with Me. 00:19:04.24\00:19:06.78 Don't let anything interfere with that in your life. 00:19:06.81\00:19:12.35 Besides a busy schedule, you know what also 00:19:12.38\00:19:16.18 keeps us from waiting? 00:19:16.22\00:19:17.55 I think media can keep us from waiting on God. 00:19:17.59\00:19:21.46 Several years ago, when I was teaching music lessons, 00:19:21.49\00:19:25.56 one of the little girls had a pink cell phone. 00:19:25.59\00:19:28.06 She was six years old and she said, Miss Jill, How old were 00:19:28.10\00:19:31.77 you when you got your first cell phone? Were you six? 00:19:31.80\00:19:35.24 I said, No sweetie, I wasn't. 00:19:35.27\00:19:38.17 Were you ten? No sweetie, I wasn't. 00:19:38.21\00:19:42.64 They didn't even have cell phones when I was six. 00:19:42.68\00:19:45.08 Were you, whatever? 00:19:45.11\00:19:47.02 I said, I was probably in my early twenties before I got 00:19:47.05\00:19:50.35 my first cell phone. 00:19:50.39\00:19:51.72 And she looked up at me with her big blue eyes, 00:19:51.75\00:19:54.56 and she said, Your Mommy didn't love you very much. 00:19:54.59\00:19:59.06 Your Mommy must not have loved you because she didn't 00:19:59.09\00:20:01.63 give you a cell phone. 00:20:01.66\00:20:03.00 But you know, before we had those days of media 00:20:03.03\00:20:05.43 distractions, I think we had more time; more time in the word 00:20:05.47\00:20:10.24 of God, more time to spend waiting at the feet of Jesus, 00:20:10.27\00:20:14.78 waiting to be filled with the Spirit, 00:20:14.81\00:20:17.05 waiting for that heavenly dew. 00:20:17.08\00:20:19.25 Media could take the form of TV or radio, cell phones, 00:20:19.28\00:20:22.88 internet, whatever. 00:20:22.92\00:20:24.25 It doesn't matter. 00:20:24.29\00:20:25.62 But they can encroach on our waiting time. 00:20:25.65\00:20:30.29 So what's the solution? 00:20:30.33\00:20:31.66 I think we reprioritize our time. 00:20:31.69\00:20:35.20 Maybe something needs to be cut out. 00:20:35.23\00:20:37.93 Maybe I need to go to God and ask Him for wisdom. 00:20:37.97\00:20:43.04 James 1:5. He says, If any of you lack wisdom, 00:20:43.07\00:20:46.61 let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally, 00:20:46.64\00:20:50.35 and upbraids not. If we lack wisdom, go to God and say, 00:20:50.38\00:20:54.58 Show me how to reprioritize my time. 00:20:54.62\00:20:57.99 Show me what I need to do, what I need to change, or cut, 00:20:58.02\00:21:02.72 or juggle in order to have more waiting time with You. 00:21:02.76\00:21:07.30 There's a poem I love. It's by Grace Naessens. 00:21:07.33\00:21:11.77 I'm probably mispronouncing that last name. 00:21:11.80\00:21:13.80 It says, I got up early one morning and rushed 00:21:13.84\00:21:17.87 right into the day. 00:21:17.91\00:21:19.24 I had so much to accomplish, that I didn't have time to pray. 00:21:19.27\00:21:23.61 Problems just tumbled about me, and heavier came each task. 00:21:23.65\00:21:28.82 Why doesn't God help me, I wondered? 00:21:28.85\00:21:31.52 He answered, You didn't ask. 00:21:31.55\00:21:34.39 I wanted to see joy and beauty, but the day toiled on 00:21:34.42\00:21:39.29 grey and bleak. I wondered why God didn't show me. 00:21:39.33\00:21:43.16 He said, But you didn't seek. 00:21:43.20\00:21:46.17 I tried to come into God's presence. 00:21:46.20\00:21:49.24 I tried all my keys at the lock. 00:21:49.27\00:21:51.97 God gently and lovingly chided, But My child, you didn't knock. 00:21:52.01\00:21:58.88 I got up early this morning and paused before entering the day. 00:21:58.91\00:22:03.89 I had so much to accomplish, that I had to take time to pray. 00:22:03.92\00:22:09.99 I think reprioritizing our time is essential and important. 00:22:10.03\00:22:14.20 The first requirement to forming dew is waiting. 00:22:14.23\00:22:18.07 The second requirement is stillness and quietness. 00:22:18.10\00:22:23.27 Turn with me to Psalm, Psalm 46:10. 00:22:23.30\00:22:29.94 It's one of my favorite Psalms. 00:22:29.98\00:22:33.21 Psalm 46:10. It says, Be still, and know that I am God: 00:22:33.25\00:22:40.62 I will be exalted among the heathen, 00:22:40.66\00:22:43.66 I will be exalted in the earth. 00:22:43.69\00:22:47.43 In the physical world, it needs to be still and quiet in order 00:22:47.46\00:22:52.90 for the dew to form. 00:22:52.93\00:22:54.27 Wind does not lend itself to having the dew form. 00:22:54.30\00:22:59.57 It needs stillness, and quietness. 00:22:59.61\00:23:01.44 Likewise, haste prevents saturation with the Spirit. 00:23:01.48\00:23:07.05 What happens when we're still? 00:23:07.08\00:23:09.08 We know God. Be still and know that I am God. 00:23:09.12\00:23:14.12 The Hebrew word for know is Yada, 00:23:14.16\00:23:17.23 and it means to ascertain by seeing. 00:23:17.26\00:23:23.10 What's He saying? Be still and look at God. 00:23:23.13\00:23:25.83 Be still and behold Him. 00:23:25.87\00:23:27.50 Spend time waiting in His presence. 00:23:27.54\00:23:31.74 When we're still we know God. 00:23:31.77\00:23:34.14 Our hearts become more like Jesus. 00:23:34.18\00:23:37.01 We are refreshed. God shows us our own hearts. 00:23:37.05\00:23:41.82 We're quiet and we learn to listen better 00:23:41.85\00:23:44.79 instead of struggling. 00:23:44.82\00:23:46.96 We no longer fight. 00:23:46.99\00:23:49.16 We become surrendered. 00:23:49.19\00:23:51.33 Spiritual dew comes from quietly lingering 00:23:51.36\00:23:54.76 in the Master's presence. 00:23:54.80\00:23:56.87 Get still before Him, for haste will prevent you 00:23:56.90\00:24:01.14 from receiving the dew. 00:24:01.20\00:24:03.17 Wait before God until you feel saturated with His presence. 00:24:03.20\00:24:09.08 When we're looking to be filled with Jesus, when we're looking 00:24:09.11\00:24:14.95 to be anointed with the heavenly dew, the Holy Spirit, 00:24:14.98\00:24:18.32 we want to wait before Him. 00:24:18.35\00:24:20.26 We want to be still and quiet before Him. 00:24:20.29\00:24:23.16 And understand also that sometimes it requires coolness 00:24:23.22\00:24:27.60 for that dew to form. 00:24:27.63\00:24:29.10 You might be going through cool time, a painful time, 00:24:29.16\00:24:33.77 a difficult time, but in the midst of that God is pouring 00:24:33.80\00:24:38.37 on you His heavenly dew, His Holy Spirit. 00:24:38.44\00:24:42.48 We're going to take a short break, and we'll be right back 00:24:42.51\00:24:45.35 with our application. 00:24:45.38\00:24:46.82
