Child Impact International is an organization 00:00:02.43\00:00:05.20 that gives hope and fosters permanent, 00:00:05.23\00:00:07.54 positive change in the lives of disadvantaged children 00:00:07.57\00:00:10.57 and their communities. 00:00:10.61\00:00:13.27 Countries include Zambia, Kenya, India, Nepal, 00:00:13.31\00:00:19.11 Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. 00:00:19.15\00:00:22.65 Child Impact's investment in the lives 00:00:22.68\00:00:24.55 of more than 3,500 children 00:00:24.59\00:00:26.89 continues to yield infinite returns. 00:00:26.92\00:00:29.72 Outreach spans from child rescue operations 00:00:29.76\00:00:32.19 to providing an education and a home 00:00:32.23\00:00:34.43 for deaf and blind children and orphans. 00:00:34.46\00:00:37.23 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors 00:00:37.27\00:00:40.07 give hope to the ones who need it the most. 00:00:40.10\00:00:42.64 India is a large country full of life and culture. 00:00:52.95\00:00:56.85 There are so many great things that this country has to offer. 00:00:56.89\00:01:01.66 But in the shadow of India's magnificent buildings 00:01:01.69\00:01:04.56 are many who are suffering. 00:01:04.59\00:01:07.16 Suffering from a lack of medical care and education 00:01:07.20\00:01:10.67 that lifts them out of poverty. 00:01:10.70\00:01:13.23 Child Impact International 00:01:13.27\00:01:14.64 is directly involved in sponsorship 00:01:14.67\00:01:17.07 that provides the means for an education 00:01:17.11\00:01:19.37 to hundreds of children 00:01:19.41\00:01:21.14 and is now expanding to help those in India 00:01:21.18\00:01:23.78 who are in desperate need of medical care. 00:01:23.81\00:01:26.65 It all began with a man who grew up 00:01:26.68\00:01:28.98 in one of Child Impact's orphanages Elim Home. 00:01:29.02\00:01:32.35 His name is Dr. Swamidas. 00:01:32.39\00:01:35.82 Dr. Swamidas was a sponsored orphan 00:01:35.86\00:01:39.29 at Elim Home in Hyderabad. 00:01:39.33\00:01:42.23 After being sponsored and having a full education. 00:01:42.26\00:01:45.93 He then went on to get his doctor's degree, 00:01:45.97\00:01:49.64 and that was by working at night and studying 00:01:49.67\00:01:53.07 during the day. 00:01:53.11\00:01:54.44 He is now a fully accredited doctor in India. 00:01:54.48\00:01:59.38 He dedicates his time to serving the poor. 00:01:59.41\00:02:03.12 He came from a very poor background. 00:02:03.15\00:02:05.75 He was an orphan, and now he runs his ministry, 00:02:05.79\00:02:10.93 serving the poor, poor woman, 00:02:10.96\00:02:13.26 poor children in the city of Hyderabad. 00:02:13.29\00:02:18.07 The story begins during the early days of Elim Home, 00:02:18.10\00:02:21.07 an orphanage that Child Impact supports. 00:02:21.10\00:02:23.77 Ravi, who was the sixth child start living there 00:02:23.81\00:02:26.41 remembers meeting Dr. Swamidas for the first time. 00:02:26.44\00:02:30.05 So and he just came he was very lean and little boy, 00:02:30.08\00:02:33.08 but then we were about, I would certainly say I was six plus 00:02:33.11\00:02:37.02 and Swamidas we about three and a half, I said three years. 00:02:37.05\00:02:40.69 Remember, you know, feeding him because he was too small. 00:02:40.72\00:02:44.63 So yeah, he was like we were really good friends, 00:02:44.66\00:02:47.20 we are very much affectionate to each other. 00:02:47.23\00:02:50.07 And that's how I know I am very much associated 00:02:50.10\00:02:52.43 with Dr. Swamidas at that small age. 00:02:52.47\00:02:54.77 At just three years old Swamidas's father died 00:02:54.80\00:02:58.31 from tuberculosis, his mother was unable to care for him. 00:02:58.34\00:03:02.61 So Swamidas was taken to Elim Home. 00:03:02.64\00:03:05.51 When I'm in Elim, I forgot all those sadness 00:03:05.55\00:03:09.95 and I was happy that I was received very well. 00:03:09.98\00:03:13.36 And everybody welcome me with a smile. 00:03:13.39\00:03:17.29 And at that time, I thought that I was in a right place 00:03:17.33\00:03:21.16 where my life would change. 00:03:21.20\00:03:23.60 And change, it did. 00:03:23.63\00:03:25.57 The spirit of helping others providing for their needs 00:03:25.60\00:03:28.97 shaped young Swamidas's life 00:03:29.00\00:03:30.94 toward one of service to others. 00:03:30.97\00:03:33.48 And while he had the desire to serve others, 00:03:33.51\00:03:36.11 it wasn't until a certain moment 00:03:36.14\00:03:38.05 when he realized just how he was going to do that. 00:03:38.08\00:03:41.12 So when I was in my fourth grade, 00:03:41.15\00:03:43.49 suddenly I got fever so one of my team took me to hospital 00:03:43.52\00:03:48.62 or a small clinic which is available at our Elim Home. 00:03:48.66\00:03:51.83 So seeing the doctor, the way she approached me 00:03:51.86\00:03:55.66 or the way she talk to me and the way she treated me, 00:03:55.70\00:03:59.17 that time I fixed my life, this is a good job 00:03:59.20\00:04:02.00 so that I could serve the people 00:04:02.04\00:04:04.27 who are suffering or who are in need or even in pain. 00:04:04.31\00:04:08.21 So that's where the doctor which the way doctor talk to me 00:04:08.24\00:04:14.18 impressed me and put me a thought in my mind 00:04:14.22\00:04:18.25 that I should do or become a doctor. 00:04:18.29\00:04:20.96 After leaving Elim Home, Ravi and Swamidas 00:04:20.99\00:04:24.06 lost touch with one another for many years. 00:04:24.09\00:04:27.36 Ravi was working for Child Impact as a Project Manager 00:04:27.40\00:04:30.40 and then a Field Officer. 00:04:30.43\00:04:32.23 While Swamidas was going to school to become a doctor. 00:04:32.27\00:04:35.67 One day they ran into each other. 00:04:35.70\00:04:38.07 And then I started talking to him 00:04:38.11\00:04:39.54 and, you know, I started asking what exactly he's doing. 00:04:39.57\00:04:43.24 Then he said, like, because I know him from childhood. 00:04:43.28\00:04:46.61 And then I suddenly like my memories went back 00:04:46.65\00:04:49.88 when we were kids, and then I could understand 00:04:49.92\00:04:52.92 that he has his aim. 00:04:52.95\00:04:54.96 I think his goal has become, his dream has become true. 00:04:54.99\00:04:59.16 His dream has become true. 00:04:59.19\00:05:00.70 And I was so happy when I started, 00:05:00.73\00:05:03.00 you know, seeing his services, I was very much impressed. 00:05:03.03\00:05:05.93 And immediately, I told him like 00:05:05.97\00:05:08.20 I have a desire to work with you. 00:05:08.24\00:05:10.57 And then he said I would be... 00:05:10.61\00:05:12.24 And he said, "Brother Ravi, I would be very happy 00:05:12.27\00:05:14.64 to have you as an elder brother to support me 00:05:14.68\00:05:17.48 in the service that he's doing." 00:05:17.51\00:05:19.01 So he left his job and joined me 00:05:19.05\00:05:21.08 doing the services, helping me out. 00:05:21.12\00:05:23.52 His help is a great blessing to me. 00:05:23.55\00:05:28.02 Without his help, I cannot... 00:05:28.06\00:05:29.99 Sometimes run because if I have to go with the patient, 00:05:30.03\00:05:33.26 I have to close down the hospital 00:05:33.29\00:05:34.80 and take him to the hospital. 00:05:34.83\00:05:36.16 So that need is not with me. 00:05:36.20\00:05:38.40 Ravi used to take the patient is to follow the patient 00:05:38.43\00:05:43.37 after the discharge also, and is to be a mediator 00:05:43.41\00:05:48.04 between the doctor and the patient 00:05:48.08\00:05:49.41 because this rural patient cannot understand 00:05:49.44\00:05:51.91 the doctor's language. 00:05:51.95\00:05:53.31 So his need is a great help to me. 00:05:53.35\00:05:56.12 So it will be easy for me to handle the cases. 00:05:56.15\00:06:00.09 So that is how his help was are very much in need of time. 00:06:00.12\00:06:04.63 The need that they are meeting is great. 00:06:04.66\00:06:07.30 Every kind of need is brought to Dr. Swamidas's clinic. 00:06:07.33\00:06:11.17 Lot of people flow to my clinic every day, 00:06:11.20\00:06:14.24 mostly the older people, 00:06:14.27\00:06:15.80 the older as well as the children. 00:06:15.84\00:06:18.11 So most of the cases, I see from one month baby 00:06:18.14\00:06:23.41 till 60 years old because I'm an emergency physician. 00:06:23.45\00:06:26.65 So I could handle any case like in these situations. 00:06:26.68\00:06:30.05 So I could give them the first aid 00:06:30.09\00:06:32.52 which is necessary for them. 00:06:32.55\00:06:34.32 So a lot of children's, I'd say, 00:06:34.36\00:06:37.86 because they don't have proper food or balanced diet. 00:06:37.89\00:06:42.20 So I mean to say balance diet because a lot of them, 00:06:42.23\00:06:45.47 in their diet they lack some proteins or some vitamins, 00:06:45.50\00:06:48.70 and then due to that they fall ill. 00:06:48.74\00:06:50.91 So they come and then I explained to their parents 00:06:50.94\00:06:54.01 like this is how you need to feed them. 00:06:54.04\00:06:56.71 Or this is how you need to grow them 00:06:56.75\00:06:58.58 or take care of their health. 00:06:58.61\00:07:00.38 So this is... 00:07:00.42\00:07:01.75 A lot of cases of children as well as older people. 00:07:01.78\00:07:05.25 When I see the older people, I'll feel sorry for them 00:07:05.29\00:07:07.82 because if they have sons also, 00:07:07.86\00:07:10.53 they won't take care of them properly. 00:07:10.56\00:07:12.16 So they come with the stick, just walking, 00:07:12.19\00:07:17.47 and nobody to care for their pain. 00:07:17.50\00:07:21.00 So I feel happy when I see them. 00:07:21.04\00:07:23.47 And the next day, when they get relieved, 00:07:23.51\00:07:26.47 they have a smile on their face, saying the thank you. 00:07:26.51\00:07:29.51 So that gives me a lot of satisfaction for me. 00:07:29.54\00:07:34.72 But not everyone is able to make the trip 00:07:34.75\00:07:37.39 to Dr. Swamidas clinic. 00:07:37.42\00:07:39.79 Some of the patients, 00:07:39.82\00:07:41.99 they cannot come to me every time. 00:07:42.02\00:07:44.29 So they need a regular dressing or regular attention 00:07:44.33\00:07:48.06 for their illness. 00:07:48.10\00:07:50.17 So I'll visit their houses, take care of them 00:07:50.20\00:07:53.87 and do the dressing if somebody is injured, 00:07:53.90\00:07:57.64 or somebody if they have met with a snake bite, 00:07:57.67\00:08:00.54 I have to go for the dressing, 00:08:00.58\00:08:02.64 defreeze their leg or the wound 00:08:02.68\00:08:05.35 and clean it thoroughly 00:08:05.38\00:08:06.82 and put a proper dressing. 00:08:06.85\00:08:09.25 So every time they cannot bring me that patient to me 00:08:09.28\00:08:13.56 because it's a lot of expense for them 00:08:13.59\00:08:16.02 for travel as well as no... 00:08:16.06\00:08:18.23 If nobody is along with the patient, 00:08:18.26\00:08:20.73 she alone cannot come out or he cannot come to me. 00:08:20.76\00:08:24.57 So it's better for me to go to them than they come into me. 00:08:24.60\00:08:30.27 The work that Dr. Swamidas 00:08:30.31\00:08:31.87 and Ravi are doing is very important. 00:08:31.91\00:08:34.88 For the people in rural areas, 00:08:34.91\00:08:36.85 medical help is almost impossible to find. 00:08:36.88\00:08:40.75 But Dr. Swamidas's passion to help people 00:08:40.78\00:08:43.25 goes beyond healing them physically. 00:08:43.28\00:08:45.52 Sometimes I go through easy way to look 00:08:45.55\00:08:47.72 where it is return 00:08:47.76\00:08:49.26 that health and healing is one of the main ministry 00:08:49.29\00:08:52.36 because our ancestors are some of the prophets, 00:08:52.39\00:08:55.83 they mainly are missionaries. 00:08:55.86\00:08:58.70 Wherever they are, they established two things. 00:08:58.73\00:09:00.74 One is church, one is hospital, 00:09:00.77\00:09:03.00 and one is education. 00:09:03.04\00:09:04.67 So these three things. 00:09:04.71\00:09:06.04 So equally, these three are very important 00:09:06.07\00:09:08.54 in a Christian spirituality. 00:09:08.58\00:09:10.65 So I selected health ministry where I could treat them 00:09:10.68\00:09:14.38 and tell them about the love of Jesus, 00:09:14.42\00:09:16.72 how God Jesus also healed so many 00:09:16.75\00:09:19.15 because Jesus also healed so many people came to Jesus 00:09:19.19\00:09:23.26 not to hear Him, but to get healed. 00:09:23.29\00:09:25.99 So this is how which has a lot of impact on me 00:09:26.03\00:09:28.96 and this is the thing I chose to do. 00:09:29.00\00:09:33.54 All the amazing work that Dr. Swamidas is doing 00:09:33.57\00:09:36.47 can be traced back to sponsorship. 00:09:36.50\00:09:40.18 Like being a sponsored child which always gives us 00:09:40.21\00:09:44.58 a pleasure to help someone when we grew up. 00:09:44.61\00:09:46.82 So that is how it has brought a great impact on me 00:09:46.85\00:09:51.42 because if that sponsorship was not there, 00:09:51.45\00:09:54.69 or they would have not helped me, 00:09:54.72\00:09:56.93 I would have been somewhere in the fields working 00:09:56.96\00:09:59.53 so that is how the sponsorship had changed, 00:09:59.56\00:10:02.13 really changed my life. 00:10:02.16\00:10:04.90 As sponsors, the difference you make 00:10:04.93\00:10:06.84 is not in just one person's life, 00:10:06.87\00:10:09.07 you are empowering a person who then wants to help 00:10:09.10\00:10:11.94 and empower those around them. 00:10:11.97\00:10:14.34 What you give is not just an education or a meal, 00:10:14.38\00:10:18.05 it is a gift that grows exponentially to bless tens, 00:10:18.08\00:10:22.38 hundreds, even thousands of lives. 00:10:22.42\00:10:25.32 Child Impact is very excited that we could help Dr. Swamidas 00:10:35.63\00:10:40.74 with an ambulance and also help fund a driver 00:10:40.77\00:10:44.61 and its operations for the next year. 00:10:44.64\00:10:48.51 We are happy now that we have an ambulance 00:10:48.54\00:10:51.01 sponsored by Child Impact International 00:10:51.05\00:10:53.95 through a Child Rescue Operations. 00:10:53.98\00:10:56.55 And we feel it is a big blessing to have 00:10:56.58\00:10:59.72 that because not only for us to work with, 00:10:59.75\00:11:03.02 but it is helping a lot of other people, 00:11:03.06\00:11:05.89 you know, when the need as such, 00:11:05.93\00:11:07.80 you know, emergency cases, it has been a very big help, 00:11:07.83\00:11:10.83 and we want to thank you... 00:11:10.87\00:11:13.60 We especially thank the team has come forward that donors, 00:11:13.64\00:11:17.21 the sponsors has come forward to help us to have this 00:11:17.24\00:11:20.71 so that sometimes we can make patients 00:11:20.74\00:11:23.78 more comfortable taking them to higher medical centers, 00:11:23.81\00:11:27.92 or to the hospitals into cities. 00:11:27.95\00:11:31.02 So I want to thank, especially Child Impact International 00:11:31.05\00:11:34.59 for being coming forward to help somehow 00:11:34.62\00:11:39.19 to continue this ministry over here. 00:11:39.23\00:11:41.93 Once again, we want to thank the Child Impact International 00:11:41.96\00:11:45.73 wholeheartedly. 00:11:45.77\00:11:47.10 Thank you. 00:11:47.14\00:11:48.47 Hi, I'm Jean Boonstra, 00:12:15.80\00:12:17.30 Associate Speaker at the Voice of Prophecy. 00:12:17.33\00:12:19.83 Now I'm sure that you're aware of the global problem 00:12:19.87\00:12:23.04 of human trafficking. 00:12:23.07\00:12:24.71 And in places in the world like India and Nepal, 00:12:24.74\00:12:27.14 for example, this problem of human trafficking, 00:12:27.18\00:12:30.01 well, it's very real. 00:12:30.05\00:12:31.71 Not long ago, I was in India and I learned a little bit more 00:12:31.75\00:12:34.98 about what happens in that area. 00:12:35.02\00:12:37.59 Young girls are tricked, 00:12:37.62\00:12:39.22 usually girls who are disadvantaged, 00:12:39.25\00:12:41.66 maybe from a poor village or community. 00:12:41.69\00:12:44.16 And they're tricked into becoming part 00:12:44.19\00:12:46.29 of the sex industry and into prostitution. 00:12:46.33\00:12:49.60 It's extremely sad. 00:12:49.63\00:12:51.93 And, you know, these young girls, they're caught in a web 00:12:51.97\00:12:54.57 and a lifestyle that they don't want to be a part of, 00:12:54.60\00:12:57.77 but once they're in it, 00:12:57.81\00:12:59.14 it's very difficult to find a way out. 00:12:59.17\00:13:02.38 When we think about the problem of human trafficking, 00:13:02.41\00:13:04.88 we often think about these girls, 00:13:04.91\00:13:07.12 but it often affects young boys as well. 00:13:07.15\00:13:10.15 Young boys in India, for example, 00:13:10.19\00:13:12.05 they're caught and they're used for child labor. 00:13:12.09\00:13:15.06 They're put into begging rings, 00:13:15.09\00:13:16.83 and they're often taken advantage of as well. 00:13:16.86\00:13:19.86 And it's not just these young girls and boys either, 00:13:19.89\00:13:22.80 this affects infants as well. 00:13:22.83\00:13:25.07 Young babies are left on the side of the road 00:13:25.10\00:13:27.80 abandoned with no one to care for them. 00:13:27.84\00:13:30.51 Child Impact International's Operation Child Rescue 00:13:30.54\00:13:34.31 addresses each of these three issues. 00:13:34.34\00:13:37.11 They have an answer, a solution, and an opportunity 00:13:37.15\00:13:40.55 to offer hope and a way out for these people caught 00:13:40.58\00:13:44.19 in human trafficking. 00:13:44.22\00:13:45.55 At Voice of Prophecy, we are privileged to partner 00:13:45.59\00:13:48.72 with Child Impact's Operation Child Rescue 00:13:48.76\00:13:51.69 to help these young girls that are caught in prostitution, 00:13:51.73\00:13:55.36 the young boys doing labor at a very young age, 00:13:55.40\00:13:58.63 and these young babies that simply need a home 00:13:58.67\00:14:01.94 and someone to love them. 00:14:01.97\00:14:03.61 It's our privilege to partner with Child Impact's Operation 00:14:03.64\00:14:06.91 Child Rescue, and be part of the solution 00:14:06.94\00:14:10.35 to give that hope. 00:14:10.38\00:14:12.35 Now is this something that appeals to you 00:14:12.38\00:14:14.88 and would you like to learn more about 00:14:14.92\00:14:16.55 and be a part of this? 00:14:16.58\00:14:18.22 Well, I encourage you to get in touch 00:14:18.25\00:14:20.09 with
