Child Impact International is an organization 00:00:02.46\00:00:05.20 that gives hope and fosters permanent positive change 00:00:05.23\00:00:08.50 in the lives of disadvantaged children and their communities. 00:00:08.54\00:00:13.31 Countries include Zambia, India, Nepal, 00:00:13.34\00:00:17.15 Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. 00:00:17.18\00:00:20.62 Child Impact's investment 00:00:20.65\00:00:22.02 in the lives of more than 3,500 children 00:00:22.05\00:00:24.79 continues to yield infinite returns. 00:00:24.82\00:00:27.76 Outreach spans from child rescue operations 00:00:27.79\00:00:30.33 to providing an education and a home 00:00:30.36\00:00:32.43 for deaf and blind children and orphans. 00:00:32.46\00:00:35.26 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors 00:00:35.30\00:00:38.13 give hope to the ones who need it the most. 00:00:38.17\00:00:40.70 When we left for Bangladesh, we had no idea what lay ahead. 00:00:53.52\00:00:57.25 We recorded the sights and sounds 00:01:02.06\00:01:03.83 of that vibrant country. 00:01:03.86\00:01:05.96 But it's the people that we remember, 00:01:05.99\00:01:08.70 the father and mother 00:01:08.73\00:01:10.07 who willingly work themselves into an early grave 00:01:10.10\00:01:12.67 in the hope that they can give their children a better life. 00:01:12.70\00:01:17.04 The children who find a way to live on 00:01:17.07\00:01:19.31 in spite of the hunger and loss. 00:01:19.34\00:01:21.21 We only got to record some of their stories 00:01:24.28\00:01:27.05 but the stories that we did capture 00:01:27.08\00:01:29.08 still inspire us. 00:01:29.12\00:01:31.65 Well, I think the lesson today 00:01:31.69\00:01:35.06 is that we're beginning to understand 00:01:35.09\00:01:37.03 the depth of the struggle of these families. 00:01:37.06\00:01:40.70 I mean, I really... 00:01:40.73\00:01:43.70 You know, I come here three or four times 00:01:43.73\00:01:47.17 and you meet these kids, 00:01:47.20\00:01:49.34 but today we heard them talking, 00:01:49.37\00:01:51.51 we heard, how old was that boy? 00:01:51.54\00:01:53.81 Seven? Nine. 00:01:53.84\00:01:55.18 Yeah. 00:01:55.21\00:01:56.54 Talking about a parent dying, the grandfather, grandparents 00:01:56.58\00:02:01.62 trying to get them to come to the school. 00:02:01.65\00:02:04.95 The struggle... 00:02:04.99\00:02:06.59 And it's consistent. 00:02:06.62\00:02:08.59 It's consistent of the kids we talk to. 00:02:08.62\00:02:12.76 And I just wonder 00:02:12.79\00:02:15.73 how we share that with people, 00:02:15.76\00:02:19.67 how we tell them because, 00:02:19.70\00:02:22.04 to be honest, it's much bigger than sponsoring a kid. 00:02:22.07\00:02:26.27 You know, we say sponsor a child, 00:02:26.31\00:02:29.08 but it's not, it's so deeper than that. 00:02:29.11\00:02:32.85 And I've really been touched. 00:02:32.88\00:02:35.92 I really see it as a challenge 00:02:35.95\00:02:38.72 of how we reflect to the people 00:02:38.75\00:02:42.79 that have a lot of how sponsoring a child 00:02:42.82\00:02:48.03 is just simply not that, 00:02:48.06\00:02:50.43 it is giving them an education 00:02:50.47\00:02:52.33 but the difference it's making to the families 00:02:52.37\00:02:56.04 because these families are struggling. 00:02:56.07\00:02:58.77 And in fact, struggling is a cliche. 00:02:58.81\00:03:02.64 They're desperate. They can't afford to feed. 00:03:02.68\00:03:05.65 These kids come here and get three meals a day. 00:03:05.68\00:03:08.88 And the change it's making in the life of a solo mum, 00:03:08.92\00:03:14.52 of a grandparent. 00:03:14.56\00:03:18.33 We can't... 00:03:18.36\00:03:19.69 We have trouble reflecting that. 00:03:19.73\00:03:21.90 It must give them hope. 00:03:21.93\00:03:24.13 The pain they must be suffering 00:03:24.17\00:03:26.43 because they can't feed their kids. 00:03:26.47\00:03:28.64 The pain they must be suffering 00:03:28.67\00:03:31.24 because they can't get an education. 00:03:31.27\00:03:33.68 And we actually cure that pain 00:03:33.71\00:03:37.21 because it's my responsibility 00:03:37.25\00:03:40.18 to share it. 00:03:40.22\00:03:41.62 I mean, you know, 00:03:41.65\00:03:43.15 I've got the responsibility of curing it. 00:03:43.18\00:03:47.39 I've got the... 00:03:47.42\00:03:48.76 Not curing it, it's sort of the wrong word 00:03:48.79\00:03:50.76 but how do we help these people, 00:03:50.79\00:03:54.60 how do we give them hope, 00:03:54.63\00:03:56.06 and I guess back... 00:03:56.10\00:03:58.37 You know, I'm gonna go back to my air-conditioned room 00:03:58.40\00:04:01.04 and I'm gonna fly back to America 00:04:01.07\00:04:04.74 whereas these people haven't got a push bike. 00:04:04.77\00:04:08.61 We see them walking on the side of the road. 00:04:08.64\00:04:12.05 They're struggling to feed their kids. 00:04:12.08\00:04:14.52 And yet we've got an opportunity 00:04:14.55\00:04:18.09 through what we do to help them. 00:04:18.12\00:04:21.59 Even though Jim has been to Bangladesh many times, 00:04:21.62\00:04:24.46 the need still moves him and with good reason. 00:04:24.49\00:04:28.86 It is easy to think 00:04:28.90\00:04:30.23 that having food and clean water 00:04:30.27\00:04:31.97 is a normal thing. 00:04:32.00\00:04:33.54 But for people in Bangladesh, 00:04:33.57\00:04:35.20 it is a luxury that few can afford. 00:04:35.24\00:04:38.71 While sponsorship is making a major difference 00:04:38.74\00:04:40.94 in the lives of many, most aren't so lucky. 00:04:40.98\00:04:43.85 If I am not studied here, 00:04:47.02\00:04:51.25 maybe I will lost. 00:04:51.29\00:04:54.69 Maybe my father and my mother 00:04:54.72\00:04:56.59 cannot provide me the good education, 00:04:56.62\00:04:59.16 maybe they cannot provide me good food, good shelter. 00:04:59.19\00:05:02.66 And it is the basic needs, they cannot provide me. 00:05:02.70\00:05:05.43 Even I was a student over here, 00:05:05.47\00:05:10.31 that time also they cannot... 00:05:10.34\00:05:11.74 They didn't provide me 00:05:11.77\00:05:13.58 the good things, the basic things. 00:05:13.61\00:05:18.41 I'm from beside the village like Kaligram, I'm from there. 00:05:18.45\00:05:22.35 And actually, I was abandoned by my mother 00:05:22.38\00:05:24.35 and she wanted to bury me alive. 00:05:24.39\00:05:26.49 So foreigners went there and then they brought me. 00:05:26.52\00:05:30.99 They brought me back here. Like we was at Dhaka. 00:05:31.03\00:05:33.90 And then from Dhaka, I moved to another school, 00:05:33.93\00:05:35.80 and then I came here. 00:05:35.83\00:05:37.17 And so if I wouldn't come here, 00:05:37.20\00:05:39.80 I don't know what my life would be, maybe, 00:05:39.83\00:05:42.50 like, I wouldn't get a chance to study 00:05:42.54\00:05:44.47 or I'd get married in this little age. 00:05:44.51\00:05:47.38 So I'm very excited. 00:05:47.41\00:05:48.98 Like I'm very happy that I'm here 00:05:49.01\00:05:51.05 and that God brought me here. 00:05:51.08\00:05:52.75 And my parents could not pay my school fees. 00:05:55.82\00:05:59.15 So, I enjoy this work 00:05:59.19\00:06:02.86 because when I see, I visit around villages, 00:06:02.89\00:06:08.10 so I know the people and they are needy 00:06:08.13\00:06:11.77 and sometimes they... 00:06:11.80\00:06:13.47 And approach to me and they cry to me 00:06:13.50\00:06:16.40 and they ask for sponsorship. 00:06:16.44\00:06:19.21 So I am interested to walk behind them 00:06:19.24\00:06:22.78 so that I can do something for them actually. 00:06:22.81\00:06:27.52 My father died at a very early age. 00:06:27.55\00:06:30.62 After his death, I moved 00:06:30.65\00:06:32.39 to a rural village with my aunt. 00:06:32.42\00:06:34.16 My aunt told me 00:06:34.19\00:06:36.16 there was a boarding school called SAMS. 00:06:36.19\00:06:39.09 She said I can go and get an education there. 00:06:39.13\00:06:42.73 Somehow my aunt was able to bring me all the way here. 00:06:42.76\00:06:48.70 I've been here ever since. 00:06:48.74\00:06:51.44 And I am now in 11th grade. 00:06:51.47\00:06:54.34 Even though they have gone through so much, 00:06:54.38\00:06:56.75 they still push on due to a faith in God 00:06:56.78\00:06:59.48 and helpful support of sponsors, 00:06:59.51\00:07:01.98 viewers like you help push the mission forward. 00:07:02.02\00:07:05.09 With each episode that airs, 00:07:05.12\00:07:06.96 we see more and more support 00:07:06.99\00:07:08.82 that matches the ever-increasing need 00:07:08.86\00:07:10.86 that comes from the countries that Child Impact works in. 00:07:10.89\00:07:15.30 Every donation, no matter how small 00:07:15.33\00:07:17.63 has been used to great effect. 00:07:17.67\00:07:20.34 The construction of the new building at KMMS, 00:07:20.37\00:07:22.94 which we began in faith has seen a lot of progress. 00:07:22.97\00:07:26.74 So here we are on the roof of the building 00:07:26.78\00:07:30.25 that's going to be demolished. 00:07:30.28\00:07:32.31 And this part of the building over here 00:07:32.35\00:07:35.05 is what it was originally, a hospital 00:07:35.08\00:07:37.75 built over 100 years ago, 00:07:37.79\00:07:40.09 which the school has been using for about 40 years. 00:07:40.12\00:07:43.29 And this part where I'm standing 00:07:43.32\00:07:45.46 was built about 40 years ago, 00:07:45.49\00:07:47.93 and although, it doesn't show on a dry day like this, 00:07:47.96\00:07:51.17 the water is coming down is actually going through 00:07:51.20\00:07:54.30 what I'm standing on 00:07:54.34\00:07:55.80 and weakening the concrete below. 00:07:55.84\00:07:58.17 It does give us a great view of the school 00:07:58.21\00:08:00.68 and great trees and grounds that they have, 00:08:00.71\00:08:04.81 but it's going to be an exciting development 00:08:04.85\00:08:08.02 to replace this building. 00:08:08.05\00:08:09.78 So the new building that 00:08:09.82\00:08:11.15 we're going to build here in Bangladesh 00:08:11.19\00:08:13.79 is going to have a wide range of uses, 00:08:13.82\00:08:17.03 at the frontend, 00:08:17.06\00:08:18.39 there's going to be a preschool, 00:08:18.43\00:08:19.86 which people will pay to bring their students to, 00:08:19.89\00:08:23.30 that's going to be our income generating project. 00:08:23.33\00:08:27.17 Then the rest of the building is going to include 00:08:27.20\00:08:29.77 an administration block, a new library, 00:08:29.80\00:08:32.94 a new science room, and a number of classrooms. 00:08:32.97\00:08:36.98 So this is going to be a big boost 00:08:37.01\00:08:38.78 to this mission school, 00:08:38.81\00:08:40.25 it's going to help attract new students, 00:08:40.28\00:08:43.69 and will be a big boost for the students at the school. 00:08:43.72\00:08:48.29 There's still so much more to be done 00:08:48.32\00:08:50.06 and more support is needed. 00:08:50.09\00:08:51.66 But God has touched the hearts of many and is placed a beacon 00:08:51.69\00:08:54.96 that we'll continue to witness and help the locals at KMMS. 00:08:55.00\00:08:59.77 This building will help younger children to attend 00:08:59.80\00:09:02.20 from around the area. 00:09:02.24\00:09:03.57 Food has become a major problem since the pandemic. 00:09:06.31\00:09:09.31 And the changes to this unpredictable world 00:09:09.34\00:09:11.48 has made it harder. 00:09:11.51\00:09:13.45 Even through all the challenges, 00:09:13.48\00:09:15.02 we have been able to provide 00:09:15.05\00:09:16.38 much needed help for the schools. 00:09:16.42\00:09:18.95 We've had a lot of appeals because of the need for help. 00:09:18.99\00:09:21.82 But the faith and generosity of you, the sponsors, 00:09:21.86\00:09:25.09 cannot be understated. 00:09:25.13\00:09:28.06 This is a major effort even with everyone working together, 00:09:28.10\00:09:31.63 but we still cannot give up. 00:09:31.67\00:09:36.00 The effect of the pandemic to Bangladesh 00:09:36.04\00:09:38.14 has been staggering. 00:09:38.17\00:09:39.67 Work has vanished and factories are closed down. 00:09:39.71\00:09:42.78 Food is hard to come by or afford. 00:09:42.81\00:09:45.01 Children have to be protected 00:09:45.05\00:09:46.48 and schools need to keep operating. 00:09:46.51\00:09:48.92 Even though the needs shown 00:09:48.95\00:09:50.39 in the last Bangladesh visit were great, 00:09:50.42\00:09:52.72 it's become all but exponentially worse. 00:09:52.75\00:09:56.12 There are a lot of children in Bangladesh 00:09:56.16\00:09:57.83 who need sponsorship to keep going. 00:09:57.86\00:10:00.10 But thanks to our sponsors like you, 00:10:00.13\00:10:02.33 they are still able to have an education 00:10:02.36\00:10:04.50 during a major crisis and food to eat. 00:10:04.53\00:10:07.77 How many
